I love your liveblog. I had a question since I read Crown - why does Kiruna says the AesSedai had to be in danger to kill Shaido at Dumai's Wells? The Oath says they can defend other sisters and warders, and she's mad about the Tower sisters being prisoner, so she still thinks of them as sisters. I guess Perrin's right about why they want to go in, but how could she lie about needing to keep the 3 Osths?

Honestly I think this is probably just a case of authorial error -- there are a few instances in which the ‘that of my Warder or another Sister’ part of the third Oath seems to be forgotten or passed over. 

But for a more...Watsonian/in-world explanation, I’d say it’s another case of the Oaths being subjective: what counts as a weapon? What counts as the last defense of one’s life? If another Aes Sedai is in danger but can theoretically defend herself, would Kiruna using the Power as a weapon count as a last defense of that Sister’s life?

Maybe to some Aes Sedai it would mean ‘if we’re in battle I can attack my enemies because it’s in defense of myself, my Warder, and my sisters’, while another might interpret it as ‘I can only attack someone with the Power if another Aes Sedai is literally about to be stabbed in the back and there’s no way to stop them without saidar’.

Stealth Reading. Random thought this morning. Have you ever read a book that was so good you found ways to read it while working? Thankfully I have an office job (and not driving or operating heavy machinery for a living) because I get to keep a book close. When things slow down enough at work (because they really do rise and fall) sometimes I am able to sneak in a few pages throughout the day. Am I encouraging or justifying reading while your employers pay you to work, no. But sometimes you just have to know what's on the next page and can't wait. Have you ever stealth read? If so where is your stealth reading spot? I find it is easier to stealth read with an ebook. Knocked out another 71 pages after I got home from work, (5 chapters). Doesn’t sound like much but that’s big numbers for me. Especially considering it’s these #WheelOfTime #books you know how long their chapters can be. Still loving this series and yes #PerrinAybara is still my favorite character. Even after speaking with other #WoT fans and hearing Perrin described in all sorts of colorful ways. To me, for now, he is my favorite. It is because of that and how #TheShadowRising seems to be dealing more with him and his story that I decided to switch out my @in.the.reads #bookmarks from #Thorin to #Gimli being that one of Perrin’a weapons is an axe. Also who doesn’t love #GimliSonOfGloin and #dwarves !?!?!
