Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the 26-year-old armorer on the set of the movie "Rust," faces up to 18 months in prison following her conviction for involuntary manslaughter in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Gutierrez-Reed's family vehemently maintains her innocence and has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for her appeal. GoFundMe Aims to Raise $100,000 for Appeal Costs The GoFundMe campaign, spearheaded by Gutierrez-Reed's father, Thell Reed, a veteran armorer himself, seeks to raise $100,000 to cover the legal expenses associated with the appeal process. The campaign description criticizes the investigation conducted by New Mexico authorities, claiming it was "botched" and "biased" against Gutierrez-Reed. Rust Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed's Appeal Argues for Fair Trial, Blames Producers for Safety Lapses The Reeds argue that their daughter was made a scapegoat for broader safety issues plaguing the low-budget production. They assert that official Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) reports point to unsafe practices and a culture of lax safety protocols on the "Rust" set, placing responsibility on the film's producers. The Fatal Shooting on the Set of "Rust" On October 21, 2021, tragedy struck the set of the Western film "Rust" when a prop gun discharged a live round, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. The gun was being handled by actor Alec Baldwin during a rehearsal scene. Dueling Theories on Responsibility for the Shooting Prosecutors argued that Gutierrez-Reed, who believed she loaded the gun with blank rounds, exhibited negligence in handling firearms and ammunition. The defense countered that Gutierrez-Reed was not solely responsible and pointed to a lack of communication and established safety protocols on set. Alec Baldwin Faces Separate Involuntary Manslaughter Charges Baldwin, a producer on the film as well as the actor who fired the gun, is scheduled to go to trial in July on his own involuntary manslaughter charges. He has pleaded not guilty. Seeking Leniency at Sentencing Gutierrez-Reed's legal team filed a sentencing memo highlighting the emotional toll the incident has taken on the young armorer. The memo details her struggles with anxiety, fear, and depression since the shooting and her ongoing mental health treatment. Letters of Support from Prominent Figures In a show of support, several prominent figures have submitted letters to the judge on Gutierrez-Reed's behalf, including Edward Romero, a former ambassador to Spain, and Sacramento Kings head coach Mike Brown. Can Hannah Gutierrez-Reed Win Her Appeal? The success of Gutierrez-Reed's appeal hinges on her legal team's ability to demonstrate that the trial was unfair or that there were significant errors in the legal proceedings. They will likely focus on the arguments outlined above, emphasizing the alleged shortcomings of the investigation and the role of the film's producers in creating an unsafe environment. Understanding the Case Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer on the set of "Rust," faces involuntary manslaughter charges following the accidental shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The incident occurred when a prop firearm handled by actor Alec Baldwin discharged, resulting in Hutchins' death and injuries to director Joel Souza. The Legal Battle As Gutierrez-Reed awaits sentencing, her family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover the costs of an appeal. Despite maintaining that she believed she loaded Baldwin’s gun with inert rounds, prosecutors argued her negligence in handling firearms contributed to the tragedy. Challenges and Controversies Throughout the trial, Gutierrez-Reed's defense portrayed her as a scapegoat for broader safety lapses on the set. They highlighted deficiencies in safety protocols and pointed fingers at Baldwin and other producers. However, prosecutors singled her out as the primary responsible party.

I was reading about Alec Baldwin being reindicted on involuntary manslaughter charges for the killing of another actor by accident on the set of the filming of a movie. I looked to see if complete birth data is available on him and it isn't so I looked to see if he has children whose birth data is available. That's when I found his daughter's data.
Why did I look for the data of a child? It's because when there is something impactful that happens to a parent, unless there is little to no relationship between child and parent, life-changing measurements usually show in the horoscope of the child. It was a good three years before my mother eventually passed when I told my wife, "when this next Saturn Return comes, my Mom will pass away. She'll be between 95 and 97 years old and we don't live forever." My Return came and she passed away a week before her 97th birthday.
Interestingly, Baldwin's daughter has the horoscope of someone with STRONG self-esteem issues related to a problematic father relationship. That aside, if her horoscope is any indication of Alec's future, it looks, well, cloudy at best due to transiting Pluto on the Ascendant, the Saturn Return, and transiting Pluto squaring the Sun. Do these measurements mean that someone's father is going to be imprisoned? Of course not. There is no such thing. What we have to do in astrology is place predictive measurements within the context of the person's life. If she had been someone suffering with a serious illness, these measurements would probably refer to a worsening or reversal of the disease. If she was working in a law firm and had been working hard to become a partner, these measurements could suggest the time when it happens. The idea is that the measurements have life-impacting potential. It's not this measurement specifically means that. They MUST be seen in the context of a person's life, not in terms of what some book says that the measurements specifically mean. Those who are newbies in astrology these days have that "this means that" mindset as if a horoscope is a crystal ball that tells you EXACTLY what will happen. I've seen things online like, "Pluto is getting ready to transit my ______." What's going to happen?" It doesn't work that way and that's why these online astrology pages on Facebook are so useless.
If Alec and his daughter have a good relationship, her measurements are not a good sign for his future. If their relationship is distant, the measurements may refer to something in her personal life.

Alec Baldwin Accused of Violating Gun Safety Rules in Rust Shooting Trial
Santa Fe, New Mexico – Alec Baldwin faces serious allegations in his involuntary manslaughter trial, as prosecutors accuse him of violating crucial gun safety rules on the set of the Western film Rust. The trial, which commenced on Wednesday, centers on the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in October 2021.
Special prosecutor Erlinda Johnson, in her opening statement, alleged that Baldwin “played make believe with a real gun” and breached cardinal firearm safety rules. She contended that the actor’s actions were reckless and endangered others on set.
In contrast, Baldwin’s defense team argued that Hutchins' death, though tragic, resulted from Baldwin’s role as an actor, not from any criminal conduct. Baldwin has pleaded not guilty and maintains that he did not pull the gun’s trigger. His legal team emphasized that the crucial issue is how the live round ended up in the gun.
The trial’s first day included distressing footage of medics attempting to save Hutchins, described as a “vibrant 42-year-old rising star,” and treating director Joel Souza, who was also injured. Additional clips showed Baldwin on set before and after the incident.
Baldwin, charged under his full name, Alexander Rae Baldwin, could face up to 18 months in prison if convicted. He was supported in court by his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, his brother, actor Stephen Baldwin, and other friends and family members.
Johnson highlighted that Baldwin requested “the biggest gun available” for the film and argued that his actions on set were reckless. “The evidence will show that someone who played make believe with a real gun and violated the cardinal rules of firearm safety is the defendant,” she stated.
Prosecutors will present evidence suggesting Baldwin deviated from standard firearm safety practices. Expert testimonies will address whether the weapon could have fired without pulling the trigger, a point prosecutors claim is not possible.
Baldwin’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, argued that the actor followed typical procedures for handling prop guns on set. He stated, “Safety has to occur before a gun is placed in an actor's hand.” Spiro asserted that Baldwin was unaware of the live round and followed instructions to point the gun at Hutchins, who was positioned behind the camera.
Spiro also shifted responsibility to the film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez, convicted of involuntary manslaughter earlier this year, and assistant director David Halls, who pleaded no contest to negligent use of a deadly weapon in 2023. Baldwin was told the gun was “cold,” meaning it was safe to use.
Santa Fe County Sheriff’s officers testified about the chaotic scene on set, describing “a bunch of people running everywhere” as the incident unfolded.

Alec Baldwin, the renowned actor, faces the looming trial for involuntary manslaughter following the tragic accidental shooting on the set of 'Rust' in 2021. Despite efforts from his legal team to dismiss the charges, a judge in New Mexico has denied their motions, setting the stage for a trial that will determine Baldwin's fate in early July. Alec Baldwin Denied Dismissal Background and Legal Challenges The Incident on the Set of 'Rust' In October 2021, Alec Baldwin was involved in a fatal shooting incident on the set of the film 'Rust,' where he was handling a Colt .45 revolver during rehearsals. The gun discharged unexpectedly, resulting in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. The incident sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry and raised serious questions about safety protocols on film sets involving firearms. Legal Motions and Denials Baldwin's defense team has filed multiple motions to dismiss the involuntary manslaughter charge against him. These efforts have been met with denials from the court, with the judge ruling that the case will proceed to trial. The defense argued that Baldwin believed the gun contained dummy bullets, as per set protocol, and did not intentionally pull the trigger. Key Legal Arguments Expert Testimony and Evidence One of the crucial elements of Baldwin's defense is the expert testimony regarding the Colt .45 revolver involved in the shooting. The defense team alleges that there were "unexplained tool marks" on the gun, suggesting possible malfunctions that contributed to the tragic accident. Despite these claims, expert opinions have varied, with some asserting that the trigger was pulled based on forensic examinations. Disputed Evidence and Discovery Violations The legal proceedings have been marked by disputes over evidence handling. Baldwin's defense has accused the prosecution of withholding crucial reports and evidence until late stages of preparation, claiming this has compromised their ability to mount an effective defense. These allegations of discovery violations have added complexity to the case and sparked contentious legal battles in court. Trial Preparations and Public Perception Public Scrutiny and Media Coverage The case has garnered significant media attention, intensifying public scrutiny over Baldwin's actions and the broader safety issues in the film industry. Images purportedly showing Baldwin handling firearms recklessly have been introduced by the prosecution, further fueling public debate and shaping public perception ahead of the trial. Baldwin's Statements and Public Reaction Alec Baldwin has maintained his innocence, asserting that he did not intentionally fire the weapon that led to Hutchins' death. His public statements, including interviews with major media outlets, have sought to clarify his role and actions on the set of 'Rust.' However, these efforts have been met with skepticism from some quarters, reflecting the polarized views surrounding the case. The Road Ahead: Trial and Potential Outcomes Trial Date and Expectations The trial is scheduled to commence on July 10 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. A jury will be tasked with examining the evidence presented by both sides and determining whether Alec Baldwin bears legal responsibility for the accidental shooting. The proceedings are expected to be closely watched, with implications that extend beyond Baldwin's legal situation to broader industry standards and safety protocols. Potential Legal Consequences If convicted of involuntary manslaughter, Alec Baldwin could face significant legal repercussions, including possible imprisonment. The outcome of the trial will hinge on the jury's interpretation of the evidence, expert testimonies, and the arguments presented by both the defense and the prosecution.

Cine: Running With Scissors (2006)
