When I am loading the anagama I look carefully at results from the last firing so I can move forward with the current pieces . We keep a notebook with photos printed of each stack and then Sometimes I go searching for specific examples I use in the house to remind my self of the results of each area of the kiln.

Cocido en horno anagama.

Arte cerámico al horno de leña Anagama de David Soo: escultura y cerámica, información sobre la construcción de hornos y técnicas de cocción a leña. Visita www.davidsoo.net. El antiguo proceso Anagama le da un acabado expresionista abstracto mediante la misteriosa pintura de llamas, calor y atmósfera. .

Su obra de arte es que está cocida únicamente con madera. La cocción de madera, un antiguo proceso japonés, produce colores iridiscentes únicos. A medida que la madera se quema en el horno, la ceniza cae sobre la cerámica. El horno alcanza temperaturas tan intensamente altas (2400 grados) que las cenizas se derriten formando un esmalte. Las llamas que surgen a través de las ollas también añaden marcas y colores interesantes. Estamos seguros de que disfrutará el viaje a su estudio y galería. Encontrarás a la pareja trabajando, arrojando cerámica al torno, creando piezas a mano o cargando y horneando su horno único.

I keep thinking this year is my senior year of college, a long time coming, and part of me wants to just.. film it? not all of it obviously, but make a mini documentary about it, some coming of age type thing, the painfully indie award bait nonsense. to just film the moments where I'm studying with friends, and anagama night and art sales, the random sangria and charcuterie nights me and my friends do, just make this thing

Catherine White Moon Vase

As a young potter, I was inspired by pilgrim flasks, first encountering those made by Bernard Leach. Searching for the seeds of this idea, I found resonant historical Korean and Chinese forms. My training had focused on bowls as the basis of throwing, so I thought of these shapes as the combination of two bowls turned on edge with an added rim and foot. As I began wood firing, I was attracted to broad, shallow surfaces as a canvas for ash deposits. Though not as spherical as a traditional Korean moon jar, I have called my flatter forms “moon vases” for their moon-like allusions. We built our anagama in 1996 and for 25 years I have made these shapes, altering the feeling by exploring variations in scale, texture, rims, edges, and feet. Each firing has its own nuances, and each series of moon vases has its own focus.
