The human half of this team recommends @eyra for cozy reads endlessly. The oldest recipe for parsnip soup was an absolute delight!

Most of my other Wolfstar rereads are a tad long for frazzled brains (Marginalia by @spindrifters comes to mind-it’s utterly spectacular and my all time favourite though). Stealing Harry by copperbadge definitely has suitably quaint opening chapters and is also a longer read.

I read a lot of ‘Wolfstar raising Harry’ fics and the Wolfstar as parents AUs series is adorable-I’d start with To make a family. Lupine is also very sweet (Sirius is a zookeeper in that one! And Teddy is obsessed with the wolves). Let’s play pretend is a bit longer, and very funny! I’m fairly sure my cheeks hurt from grinning by the end! In this vein I’m currently reading the Ordinary Delights series, which does an excellent job of being exactly what it says on the tin (Padfoot and Moony rescue Harry-there are secret Hope made pastries)

I’m English enough that I think The London Underground book of love is very cute!

Better in the Morning is a Sirius makes it back through the veil a bit later fic that makes me feel all the things, but is very soft all things considered.

And last but certainly not least I’d cross an ocean for you by @imjustherefortheshipping is my most recent reread. It’s a Sirius makes it out of Azkaban years ahead of time story. Many tears. Thankfully also hugs!

I've just finished reading Parsnip Soup and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. What a gorgeous story that was, one thing about Eyra, their words make their way into my brain and change it a little every time, I think.

"check your emails" i saw the notification and I felt butterflies in my stomach. I excused myself from the meeting I was in and went outside. I remember my hands shaking.

"Mel you are there too! Thanks for your order and for choosing our services!" a forwarded message from Ticketmaster popped up on my screen. That was it! My sisters got us tickets for Harry Styles' final lot show and I couldn't believe my eyes. I was shocked.

22/07/23

I woke up in an airbnb apartment. I turned my head to the left and saw my sisters sleeping beside me. I heard voices coming from the living room and music from the bathroom. Our best friends had woken up already. "Golden" was filling the house and I took a deep breath. I was going to see Harry for the first time. I was gonna listen to his voice live for the first time. I closed my eyes and I thought "don't cry, it's only 9.30 in the morning".

That day was eventful. We almost didn't make it to the show. We had made a reservation for a car and they told us they didn't have our car. We got tickets for the train and we almost didn't catch it because it started to rain and we couldn't find a taxi to take us to the station. All I could think about was that I just wanted to be there. I was waiting for this for so long. When I had hard days during the year, I was thinking about this trip, about this show, about him.

And in a magical way, at the last moment, everything worked out. We did catch our train even if we were soaked wet and we couldn't catch our breaths. I was so happy. We started doing our make- up in the train and we met such lovely and kind people. Everyone was laughing and singing and all you could see were cowboy hats, sparkling dresses and pants, heart- shaped glasses and colorful boas. The vibes were so beautiful and in moments like this you remember how beatiful human- beings can be.

We made it to the arena, we bought our merch, we saw Wet Leg and then "Bohemian Rhapsody" started blasting through the speakers and that was the moment I realized it was happening. Tears started filling my eyes and i was content. I felt relief.

That night was the best night of my life. I had the chance to experience it with some of my favorite people on the planet and I'm so thankful for that. It was an emotional rollercoaster. I remember crying my eyes out as i was holding my sister's hand when he sang "Sign Of The Times" and then screaming at the tops of lungs the lyrics of "Medicine" and dancing with my best friends. And my tears hadn't even dried on my cheeks yet! He was spectacular. I couldn't take my eyes off of him. He was so emotional and he made us even more emotional. His voice was angelic. The thing about H's voice is that you can't believe he can express so much emotion. He calms your fears, he makes you believe that everything is gonna be alright, he makes you feel that whatever you're feeling is important. He is a comfort hug, a kiss you need, a look that makes you feel safe.

I'm writing this today and I still can't believe I was there. It was so special. He made it special for us and we made it special for him. We make each other feel seen always.

Elliot x GN! Reader pt 2 Hangover

Pt. 1

The morning came and left with Elliot, he woke up around noon, his head aching from the night before, he rolled over with a groan, the light from the summer afternoon streaming into his home and it was far too bright for his liking.

Elliots vision focused onto a cup of water by his bedside table and some Tylenol beside it, there was a note beside it but he currently did not have the mental capacity to read it at the moment, the hungover writer drank the water with the Tylenol and heard a knock on the door.

"Go away." He whined out, putting the glass on the table.

The door opened anyway, and Harvey came in with a medical bag.

"Figured I'd check up on you after last night." Harvey says coming to sit on Elliots' bed, Elliot groaned but moved himself to sit up. 

"Just a headache," Elliot groans out "and nausea, nothing unusual."

Harvey chuckled and pulled out an everything bagel and some tomato sauce from his bag.

"It'll help," he says "though I'd recommend the sauna after everything you and Shane did last night."

Elliot felt himself panic, a flash image of (y/n) came into his brain, carrying him home, then the farmer laying him down and then…

"What happened last night?" Elliot asked a slight tremor in his voice 

"Well.." Harvey began, "you and Shane were singing and dancing through the whole Saloon, after a while I took Shane home and (y/n) took you home and according to them you had some very interesting things to say."

FUCK

Elliot felt like his heart was going to explode, he reached for the note beside the water and read it.

"Hey Elliot, I hope this will help make you feel better, and don't worry about last night, you were drunk and I'll forget about everything you said. Promise.

Xoxo Farmer (y/n)."

"Harvey." Elliot said, "Did (y/n) say anything about what I said to them?"

Elliot handed Harvey the note and Harvey felt his lower jaw drop.

"Elliot it wasn't anything bad."

"Specifics Harvey please!"

"Just that you were happy they were with you at night and that them being here with you was all you wanted."

Elliot felt himself sink lower into the bed, Harvey quickly tried to reassure his friend.

"It's not anything bad really, it's not a big deal."

"It is a big deal." Elliot said, "It's true, that's all I want to do is be with them."

"We'll go ahead and let them know tomorrow, Harvey said closing his bag, "you're gonna need res-"

Elliot ran out of the cabin straight into town, pausing near a lamp post ( only because his head was spinning)

Harvey was running after him, quite certain that he would either pass out on the way or vomit. Maybe both.

Elliot turned and saw Harvey coming towards him, in a panic he ran away, past the bus stop and saw the farm coming into view.

"(Y/N)!" Elliot yelled. 

(Y/n)s dog perked his head up at the sound of Elliots voice, the movement caused the farmer to pause planting and wait another moment to hear what their dog was listening for.

"(Y/N)!"/ The voice yelled again.

"Elliot?" The farmer said to themselves, then out of the trees, Elliot appeared a panting and sickly looking mess.

"Elliot, what are you doing here?" (Y/n) asked rushing towards him, "you look like you need to be in bed."

"I had to tell you something." Elliot panted.

The farmer led them to a nearby bench and sat down with him.

"I meant what I said." Elliot gasped. "I want to be with you, I think about it so much that it's embarrassing."

The farmer blushed and Elliot took their hands in his, he brought them both to his lips and kissed their knuckles.

Suddenly Harvey came through the trees panting. The two on the bench and the dog on the porch looked at the disheveled man.

"You!" Harvey said pointing at Elliot. "Get to bed and rest!"

"I'm feeling spectacular Doctor." Elliot said, his gaze then shifted to you, "at least now I am."

(Y/n) gave Elliot a soft smile and got up from the bench and held out their hands to help him up which he readily accepted.

"Let's get you home so you can rest." Dr. Harvey said.

"Doctor don't you get it." Elliot said, "I am home." 

(Y/n) gave his hand a gentle squeeze, Harvey rolled his eyes and said.

"Ok but seriously you need to get to bed, you're looking green."

"Yup got it." Elliot said.

Hi,...

It must be almost a decade back that I saw "My Husband's Lover",...a Filipono TV Series, which dealt with gay content. I loved the series,...but more than anything,...I was excited for the romance between the lead-pair. And much before that,..."Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros" happened in the early 2000,...which I had the privilege to watch almost a decade later.

Fast forward to 2020,...there were a lot of BLs coming from The Philippines. I believe,...Pinoy filmmakers saw a potential in this genre and perhaps thought of creating a niche for themselves in the otherwise competitive glamour and entertainment industry.

To be honest,...the only two Pinoy BLs that created an impact on me was "Amore", and "Quarantings". With respect to "Amore",...although the series was lacking a lot in terms of the technical aspects, and stirring a controversy for casting an infamous figure,...I still loved it for the presence of some really good-looking guys. And if you talk about "Quarantings",...I absolutely loved the power-dynamics between the lead couple in the story. Especially during the time of the Pandemic,...this series made sense to watch, although I haven't watched the second instalment of the same.

Specifically in the second half of 2020, and 2021,...it was raining Pinoy BLs,...as if every single Director is churning out stories after stories like a factory made product. However, barring a few Pinoy BLs like "Gameboys", "Hello Stranger", "Gaya Sa Pelikula" or "My Day",...none other BL series really made an impact in the minds of the larger BL audience, particularly the international audience.

So,...My question to you is,...

Compared to Thai BL industry,...how do you look at the Pinoy BL industry,...at the moment in particular?

Do you think Pinoy filmmakers just wanted to give it a try,...by randomly getting into the bandwagon just to attract some attention?

With the political landscape changing in The Philippines,...how far and how much do you think it will impact the BL industry in The Philippines?

Barring a few amazing Pinoy BL filmmakers,...why is there a dearth of talent in The Philippines BL industry specifically, when it comes to producing quality BL content?

I am sorry Arjuna but this one I just can't answer well. It seems like you have a much more in depth relationship with Pinoy BL than I do. I have only ever watched the heavy hitters; Gameboys, Gaya Sa Pelikula, Rainbow Prince, and My Day (my favorite). 

I mean I can speculate from an industry/politics perspective, but it's tiny under those standards and really the only break out hit they have had on an international scale was Gameboys.

Yes to a certain extent, but also they clearly want to bring their own flavor to the storytelling and the industry. Which I really appreciate. They tend to be particularly queer affirming, for example. 

Much as Rainbow Prince was NOT my thing, I can’t argue with the fact that it was clearly a UNIQUE product of it’s place and time. It was something entirely new and different (rather like Gameboys when it came out). We have to give The Philippines credit for the experimentation it does, and I think they are best when they don’t try to be derivative. However, the often risk spectacular failure and lack of international appeal, but they are unique in the industry and best when they pursue that voice in the field. 

With the political landscape changing in The Philippines,...how far and how much do you think it will impact the BL industry in The Philippines?

I’m not sure. Usually a conservative push or new regime changes things for the worse (e.g. China) but sometimes, when it’s more about military control/power and less about ideology (Thailand) the entertainment industry is left alone. (Because it’s such a big revenue generator re-tourism.) The most efficient govt propaganda machines realize that the entertainment industry is a form of cultural propaganda (Korea, China, Taiwan) and act accordingly. But some BL country’s governments aren’t that intentional (or efficient about their brand messaging) like Vietnam for example, and some have a more rose tinted perspective (ideology) around on entertainment as art that should be left, somewhat, out of politics. (Although of course, the art doesn’t see itself that way.) Japan, for example.

So it kind of depends on the ideology if the incumbent and his party. I mean we can guess how Marcos will behave given he’s a scion, but how he approach the entertainment industry, it’s probubly pretty low on his priority list. His family agenda has been about holding power and dominating (seemingly for the sake of it) rather than any actual concrete ideologue. Frankly we don’t really know how he feels about anything, except that he wants power. So my guess is (based on the Marcos family behavior) he’ll do anything he can going forward to hold onto that power now that he has it. If that comes to mean, to him, censoring or otherwise cracking down on the film industry (and BL) then he will. But if it means leaving it alone to generate revenue and tourism, then he’ll do that instead.

Good question. Honestly I do not know. But I am assuming it’s size of industry (like Taiwan) and funding related (like Vietnam).

No idea at all, sorry. I continue to fail to understand how actors think. This started in my teen years and has followed me to this day. I am surrounded by these alien creatures and they mystify me.

See above, if Marcos goes with family tradition we are in for a tyrannical ride. Once of the problem with dictators and tyrants is they are entirely unpredictable.

Covid Came Calling

So it’s been a minute since I posted. Sorry about that, we were battling the plague.  We had a spectacular 4th of July weekend, Matt flew in from Minneapolis and the Edgewater gang drove over. The house was full of giggles and good food (I’m still dreaming of the German Bee Sting Cake that Jamie brought!).  The grandgirl spent time in her “mermaid lagoon” (blow-up pool) and even had fun at a little carnival before watching fireworks. I didn’t go to the carnival because I was still being super careful about crowds, coronavirus, and all that.  I still mask if I go into a store, we don’t dine inside restaurants, we’re vaxxed and boosted.  Couldn’t be more careful.  Guess who got COVID? Yep.  Matt tested positive, then three days later I did.  Mickey finally succumbed yesterday.  Ya’ know who is still negative? The three people who went to the carnival. We’re thinking it must have attached to Matt during his travels and of course we’ve been sitting in the house yakking and eating - so there you go.  We’ve been very, very fortunate with our symptoms (vaccines work!).  Matt has had mostly congestion and cough,  I had one rough night, maybe 12 hours where I felt rotten and feverish, and so far Mickey’s symptoms are very mild - he said he feels like he has a cold.  When I hear tales about people who felt awful for days, even weeks - I know we escaped the worst of it.  From what I’m reading, Omicron BA5 is what’s surging right now and is more immune evasive than other strains.   Here’s an interesting article. https://newatlas.com/health-wellbeing/does-ba5-cause-severe-disease-omicron-covid-ba2-study/ Because we had a doctor in the house, he recommended a course of Paxlovid which I’m sure played a huge part in keeping our symptoms from becoming severe.  It couldn’t have been easier.  There are “test to treat” sites in every state, you can call your primary care physician and let them know you’ve tested positive and they can call in a prescription, or you can use an online urgent care site which is what we did.  Matt handled everything and after filling out the information online (including a pic of our positive tests) we had the meds in about an hour.   https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2022/05/11/1097698090/3-ways-to-get-covid-pills-if-youve-just-tested-positive

As awful as I felt for that one night, I can’t imagine stringing that out over several days (or longer!).  If you test positive, get the pills.

So that’s what’s been happening at our house.  After being meticulously careful since March of 2020, it finally found us.  On one hand, I’m ticked off.  On the other, I’m grateful that it happened at a time when we’re vaccinated and treatment is easy and widely available.  This particular variant, Omicron BA5, which is likely what we have, doesn’t provide the lengthy immunity that other strains do - doctors are seeing people reinfected within a month.  So, I’ll continue masking in public and try to keep it out of the house.  I don’t want to know what repeat bouts of it might do to the body.  Can’t be good. I hope you’ll all stay careful and safe, this stuff isn’t over and probably won’t be for a long, long time.  Take care of yourself because you are the sunshine in someone’s day.  You’re the one someone looks up to.  You’ve still got big dreams and things to do.  You still have books to read and trips to take and hugs to give.  You have years worth of laughter still bubbling around inside of you, waiting for a reason to come out.  Don’t be careless with all of that good stuff! Spotted: Serena van der Woodsen leaving her gynecologist's office just hours ago. She tried her best to stay incognito during her appointment but my reliable sources have identified her and confirmed her visit anyway. Maybe she needs a lesson or two from someone who actually knows how to not be spotted and have your deepest secret(s) revealed. Not one of you lot though because you all don't know better either. Now let's get to the good and juicy parts of this blast, shall we? Visiting a gynecologist in a women's world is nothing spectacular, I know, but it does become interesting when you find out you're carrying our beloved Mayor's child under your heart! Yes, you heard that right. Serena van der Woodsen is pregnant. However, it's not the first time our favorite It-Girl was pregnant. Lonely Boy aka Dan Humphrey was about to be a dad once too. Bet you didn't know that, did you, Humphrey? Two years into your marriage, your lovely now ex-wife then wife made sure to get rid of the baby before you'd ever find out she was pregnant. Maybe she did it because she knew your marriage was doomed, maybe she didn't believe you would ever be a good father, who knows, but what I do know is she didn't want children with you. This time Serena my sources have told me wants to keep the baby so the child was never the problem. Serena, thank you for the perfect opportunity to reveal two secrets in one day. Now the only question I have left is who you're going to talk to first? Dan or Nate? Feels nostalgic to make that decision, doesn't it? #themes_iii ︎✢ Once Upon A Day in New York.🗽

Flew all the way from home to New York just for work but also slipped a little short-escape inside. After a spectacular evening of appreciation for all musician and bought a few awards, I relished the following day, which I began with a plate of edamame and a cup of coffee. I then go on with the leisury stroll around, but something abruptly stopped me. There was a large picture of me on a billboard as I turned my back, and it emitted a spark of suggested pride in my body. So, once I stop, there'll will be capturing moment step!

Heard someone say that behind every successful woman is the woman itself.

Is it done? It's not even halfway done! I'm still on the road to see a lot of fun, but sadly I should keep the rest for myself. But since mirror selfie is my sign, Jennie sign, I'm going to drop my mirror selfie with my hair disheveled in the room and I know there's only mirror who loves me that much.

Just mirror selfie of myself, what else?

And I'll give you a few tips and trick on how to have a good time in a short-vacation.

First and foremost, plan it carefully and on time because it is a brief fog between dense encroaching schedules.

Secondly, decide where you're going and which way you're gonna take a walk.

Third! Enjoy the voyage by thinking only about yourself and how grateful you are for this brief opportunity.

Next, eat what you want or make your own selection, but don't forget to set a good spot to feel worthwhile, even if it's basic.

And don't forget to take a fashion lover's advise: (go shopping! 🛍) Vacations aren't complete unless you have paper bags in your right and left hands, filled with your shopping things, and a smile on your face when you have to go back home.

Last but not least, complete your day by playing a music that describes your feelings at the time. and your day is finally reaching perfect!
