KHOC WEEK 2024 Day 2 - Past

the things for my OCs are now the only ones I do, so, off with the annual @khoc-week appointment.😂

The protagonist of this post should have been Aspis, my little Anguis kid, but since Aspis is deeply connected to another character, it's probably better that I start with some headcanons I have about the Foretellers. Between those and the designs, at this point they feel a bit like OCs too. even tried to do a Nomura-esque version for the occasion.

The assumption is that the Foretellers were one of the many attempts on the chessboard of the Master of Masters to face the Darkness. He gathered under his protection a group of lonely and desperate kids, with a tormented past, acting in the grey area more than out of affection. He bet on them. He sought out children who possessed specific flaws of distinct deadly sins, trained them, and made them his apprentices on a journey designed to make them overcome their "sin" and use it as a virtue that will be essential to their future "roles." For example…

Gula, who lived on the streets as a feral child, has known hunger, and food is also how MoM attracted him. Gula suffered from bulimia and nervous hunger for years, before managing to direct his anxiety towards logic and study, becoming an analytical boy "hungry" for knowledge.

Ava, sold away by her once rich family fell in disgrace, wanted EVERYTHING back. everything she had lost, or that she wanted but could no longer afford. Mom was the one who has bought her, she's too young to understand the extent of the family tragedy. that's why she later was the perfect one for the task of choosing any wielder she desires or attracts her eye, without limits, collecting the Dandelion.

Aced has always used his muscles to win easily, alone, without effort and without ever really try to improving himself, until carelessness cost him his tribe and an eye… he is now a loyal follower and uses his strength to defend the group, the arm of the law under Ira.

Ira, balances strength in combat and intelligence, which are also the qualities of his union. stubborn and rebellious, as an angry teenager he ran away from home, losing his path. He was the first one found by Mom, and he owes him his life. He learned to control his anger because of him, obtaining determination, willpower and the courage that made him choose as Leader.

Luxu carried the burden of being an unwanted child, the result of an affair, from an early age he felt cursed by that because of a big birthmark on one eye that vaguely resembles an X. shy, insecure and reserved, people pleaser, until life with his apprentice companions brought out his mischievous and creative personality. His being a people pleaser made him incredibly attentive to the behavior of the people around him and the ideal candidate to infiltrate among people and live their lives, one after the other.

Finally, Invi.

like all the other foretellers, her name is more of a title. Her real name is Nivea, and she was isolated from her village because white hair was considered a bad omen. The resentment of having to survive alone, with a little brother to support, he too with lighter hair than was welcome, soon turned into Envy, gnawing at her insides every time Nivea stopped to observe the normality of other families, lurking and hating everyone but her brother Aspis.

MoM saved both, proposing a deal to Nivea: he would take care of them, they would have a roof over their heads, education, a future, as long as she studied under him.

With no other real choice, the children accept out of desperation.

Nivea and Aspis initially lived together, but as they grow older she is forced to uphold her end of the bargain, spending more and more time at the clocktower. Aspis and Nivea's relationship is ruined irreparably, as Invi begins to enjoy her studies and the company of her peers, spending less and less time with her brother "for a higher purpose".

On the other hand, Aspis, who has always remained silent about a subtle hostility from the inhabitants of Daybreak Town due to his bad temper and sharp tongue, is left almost alone. His only wish was not to be a burden to his sister, who therefore always believed everything was fine and let him go without regrets. Aspis is full of resentment towards Mom, blaming him for brainwashing his sister, now obsessed by Light and darkness, when she clearly only wanted a better life for them.

Aspis and Invi do not hate each other, but the lack of communication makes it difficult to make peace, they will miss their chance before the War.

Aspis eventually made some friends along the way, that made his loneliness bearable. he is in a sort of trio with Lupe and Leonna, and a little girl who for some reason adores him like a big brother, Velcia (she's @alchemist-of-thebes 's oc). he'll never admit it, but he would die for her.😂

Day one: introduction

Finally did my Oc for @khoc-week !

Never got to colour it in but I'll try explaining!

This is Ash!

Pronouns: they/them

Sexuality: gray-romantic, asexual

They're from daybreak town.

Union: anguis

Keyblade: sleeping lion

Their jacket is black, with a red crop top beneath it, their pants are green,and the boots are brown with a gold accent, and the headphones are black and red.

Friendships: they hang out with Brain at a cafe and talk about books and what's going on with daybreak town (pre war), chirithy, and has had a few conversations with master Invi.

They ran away from home at a young age, so they like calling chirithy their family!

Personality: inquisite but also laid back, loves drawing, reading, and listening to music

They also have excellent hearing, so they tend to eavesdrop, and noticed something was off pretty early.

Hopefully this isn't as bad as I think it is

Also they love croissants and sometimes steals brains when he's not looking lol

KHOC WEEK DAY 5 - UNIQUE - @khoc-week

Do you remember why you named me Saorise?

Decided I'm gonna focus on one of the three I started the week with for today and tomorrow since I could only do one yesterday aswell. So for today's prompt, I chose Saorise as a chance to develop her more and because she fits the prompt very well.

The name Saorise means Freedom. Invi named her this to give her agency and to show the pity she had for the firsts as a whole. Invi thought that the master of masters nearly went too far with this experiment - making living beings that only represent someone's negative emotions could surely lead them to ruin - so she named her first Saorise to give her agency and the motivation to be whoever she wanted to be, not just the negative emotions that bound them together.

Saorise, someone who is pure envy, hated the pity being shown to her. But, as she was being given freedom, she ran with it. She had to stay within the union, but she used her position to her advantage and became known as the 'Prince of Anguis'. Everyone wanted to partner up with her - everyone wanted to be her. What makes Saorise unique is her charm and powers of manipulation. She is unique because she is worshiped by her union.

All because she is envy. All because she wants others to love her, and she wants desperately to love others but due to being what she is - she can't bring herself to trust anyone. Not even the other firsts - at least not fully.

When confronted by Invi about her behavior, Saorise was able to easily turn the conversation in her favor.

"Well, why did you name me Saorise, then? Didn't you give me the freedom to choose who I wanted to be?" "I'm just trying to make your union strong, master! After all, you're so busy watching after the other foretellers, as is your role, so please - leave matters of the union to me. I'll make sure they are ready for the war." "Are you jealous, Master? That I have more love from your wielders than yourself? Good. It means I'm doing my job correctly. You forgot so quickly, didn't you? That I am your inner thoughts, I am your want to be loved by everyone, I am envy." "Oh yes, I am well aware I could be anyone else - I could choose not to fall into my sin, I could choose not to contribute to the union at all! But that's the thing about sin, isn't it? Do you think it would be called sin if it was so easy to break free from? If it was so easy to not choke on it, suffocate, and only be able to speak lies and pretty words that people want to hear and not the truth. The truth that I'm suffering every day. The truth that it's your fault that I can't trust others, that I can't be normal, that I exist at all in this sorry state! You dare name me freedom and yet fail to see the shackles which you put on me yourself!"

Saorise is probably the most unhinged of the firsts - probably because Invi is one of the most put-together. They are direct opposites of one another, and while Invi managed to tame Saorise, give her a name, and get her to stay within the union - it came at the cost of Saorise's waning sanity.

The Master’s abrupt disappearance, while not a shock to the Foretellers, left an empty feeling in the air. Still, they carried on as instructed. His parting gift to them was the Chirithy, an anthropomorphic cat meant to assist them in their future endeavors. It was the last time they were able to speak to him, and the last time they’d ever see him. And although he was gone, his dreams and ambitions for the preservation of the light remained strong in the hearts of his apprentices.

The Foretellers formed their unions soon after. The first were Ira and Invi’s unions Unicronis and Anguis. Aced formed Ursus shortly after and Gula followed along with Leopardus. And lastly, perhaps the smallest of the unions, was Ava’s union Vulpes. Over the next few years, they managed to recruit over 100 prospective keyblade warriors. To prepare them for the future, they were sent to train inside replicas of the Worlds Beyond; one of the master’s more grandiose creations, placed inside pocket dimensions, and complete with artificial life and creatures of darkness.

Still though, even in a world overflowing in the warmth of light, the shadows cast by its radiance were always nearby. And although things seemed to be going well, what was lurking within those shadows was beyond dangerous. As for what, that would be discovered – but far too late. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The World

Origins

The World of Celestia is an ancient world with a long history founded by the fortellers after catching wind of their former master’s plan they made plans to ensure that another keyblade war would never happen by haveing all the conteries on the new land fall under their governance.

While all governments would be allowed to act separately from the main government, the fortellers would step in should a government begin to fall into darkness. Their own power would be regulated by a strict regiment of checks and balances. They would also restore their unions, but this time, they would work together instead of competing against one another as they did in the past.

Like before, each of the fortellers would have their own role. Though they would each regain their roles, though slightly modified to suit the needs of the new era. While most would remain similar to their old role, a few would undergo a major change in their role.

The leader, Ira the reliable, would act as the new master of masters due to their former master teachings now being doubted by the fortellers. His union would be known as the union of unicornis. The members of this union would consist of those who could lead others.

Invi the virtuous would be who was assigned to watch over the others with fair eye would take on her role as a mediator while leading her union of the anguis. Where her members would learn to mediate between parties with a fair eye.

Ira's right hand man, Aced the fearless would lead the union of ursus which would be home to those who supported the leaders of verious teams of keyblade wielders. He would continue to support Ira has second in command of the fortellers.

Ava the prudent would lead the union of the vulpes would resume her task of training exceptional keyblade wielders in order in ensure that there would never be a shortage of masters to fight should darkness attempt to take hold once more.

Finally, there was Gula the tranquil his role in the past was to uncover the mysteries of the book of prophecies. Now, his role was to investigate matter pretaining to conflicts between keyblade wielders. His union would be known as the union of the leopardus.

in conjunction with the reformation of the elder unions, two new unions would be made in order to fully adapt to the new era's challenges.

The union of the strix would be founded by Lanos, the inquisitive. His union would be responsible would be responsible for watching over the world and reporting the actions of the conteries to the other unions. Like the anguis they were to do so only with the fairest of eyes.

The final of these twin unions would be known as the union of candis. They were in charge of ensuring that history wouldn't repeat itself. Specifically, the events that led to the Keyblade war. They would be led by Sanla the perceptive.

While everything had gone to plan before the war, the disrupture had realized that the fortellers had planned something to avoid an imbalance. Thankfully, the fortellers would manage to seal the imbalance away at the cost of their bodies and heart falling into a deep slumber that they would not wake from for a millenia.

In the time that they would sleep, a few wars would come but were always resolved before it spread across the world until the end of their slumber. During the second keyblade war, the original fortellers would awaken and retake control of their unions from the fallen leadership and end the war with the aid of many heroes keyblade wielders and non keyblade wielders alike.

The imbalance would this time be sealed away in fragments, allowing the fortellers to continue to live their lives and lead their unions. They and their many allies would settle down to begin families. Now, a group of unknown people seeks to reform the imbalance, and it will be up to the children of the previous generation to prevent them from successfully doing so, least Celestia be destroyed.

yes i will do my best to inform you. it will probably be worse than spark notes but ill try! also you should definitely just watch them on youtube! everglow is who i recommend, he’s been around the kh block since forever!

so khux (and all of its different names) is set in “the age of fairy tales” and the story kairi’s grandmother told her in both kh1′s flashback scene and bbs. the main protagonist is supposed to be a player insert type but tbh i think its more fun to make your own oc. anyway every keyblade wielder belongs to one of five unions, anguis (the snake, run by invi), leopardus (the leopard, run by gula), unicornis (the unicorn, run by ira), ursus (the bear, run by aced), and vulpes (the fox, run by ava), whichever union you pick didnt super matter though because the foretellers who ran them are mostly background stuff in the actual game, ava is the foreteller you interact with the most, though you run into each of them. each wielder also has their own familiar called chirithy, a little guy who looks like a stuffed animal. chirithy gives the player info and stores light they gather, but over the course of the game the two become dear friends to each other (chirithys are also dream eaters!).

there are two other characters related to the foretellers: the master of masters and luxu. MoM was the master of the foretellers, he gave each of them a book called the book of prophecies, a book that not only contains future events within its pages, but can also project these future “worlds” and can basically recreate these worlds and their people, think like castle oblivion or the journal in recoded. he also gave each of them their own special roles, while they each had a role the other foretellers knew about, some of them were given secret roles, like ava being told to start a secret union called the dandelions to be hope for the rest of the future. meanwhile luxu is technically also a foreteller, but unlike the others he has no faction, no animal, and his role was very, very simple. sit back, and watch. MoM gave luxu two very important items: his keyblade, no name (the one xehanort uses), and a mysterious black box with contents unknown to the audience at this time. no name is infused with MoM’s eye and is how he was able to see and write down the future for his book. luxu did not receive a copy of the book, either. when the MoM disappeared before the events of the game, so too did luxu. before both vanished, however, MoM had warned that there was a traitor among his six apprentices, slowly poisoning them against one another.

anyway, in the mobile game, eventually the player character (i will refer to them as player now) befriends someone from a different union, a boy named ephemer. ephemer tells player that he thinks the foretellers are keeping some kind of secret in their tower, and the two of them decide to try and investigate. eventually they call it quits for the day and decide to regroup the next day at the fountain, but he decided to go back on his own, leaving player to wait around at the fountain all day. player doesn’t see him again for a long time.

after awhile the player makes another friend, a girl named skuld who was also friends with ephemer and part of his union, she tells them that she saw ephemer in a dream and he told her to find player, so the two of them decide to go back into the foretellers’ tower to find answers about his whereabouts, although player’s chirithy warns them that the tower is forbidden to everyone else and urges everyone to turn back. the trio eventually run into one of the foretellers, who tell them that ephemer was caught and killed for breaking into the tower, and player challenges them to a fight. naturally, the player was no match for the foreteller, but instead of being killed, the foreteller reveals that it was an illusion, before revealing themself to be ava, pretending to be one of her comrades.

 she tells player and skuld that ephemer is alive, but she sent him to another dimension because he agreed to become a keyblade master and lead a new union ava was creating, called the dandelions. unbeknownst to the keyblade wielders, there is a prophecy about a keyblade war that will destroy everything, and their only hope of the world surviving is to start a new union to hide while the war was going on. ava asks the two to join her new union, but while skuld agrees, player says they need time to think about it, mulling after the fate of the rest of their fellow wielders.

things slowly started getting more tense after that, wielders started picking fights with those from other unions over them hogging the light, but when skuld and player got involved with one fight, player found themselves face to face with two other union leaders, aced and ira. they try to do some more digging into the war and eventually run into gula, who tells them the war was inevitable from the beginning and that they should brace themselves for the sound of the bells that would signify the beginning of the war. skuld pleads with player once again to seriously consider joining the dandelions, not wanting her friend to die. chirithy does the same, especially since they both know no one will survive the war.

the war soon starts after the two friends part ways, when ava finds and confronts luxu. the two fight for a while, when a bell rings out and sets things into motion. player fights through battle after battle, slowly running out of stamina after every fight. they even have to fight each foreteller, with ava telling them to run away with the dandelions.

eventually, the player cannot bear to go on for longer, and collapses on the ground. chirithy appears to comfort them in what looks to be their final moments. a sudden brilliant light shines around them, and both skuld and ephemer arrive to take player away from the war as they cry with joy from reuniting with their long lost friend.

after the keyblade war, the five new union leaders meet up, two of them are ephemer and skuld, and the other three are a young ventus, and two other boys, lauriam and brain. and yes. lauriam is exactly who you think he is.

anyway, while the new union leaders meet up, the other dandelions continue to live their lives like nothing was wrong, as they all had their memories of the keyblade war erased, including the player character. even the rumors of it happening were gone from their memories, instead being stored by their chirithys.

anyway, lauriam has something important on his mind, and meets with a young girl his age named elrena, and it’s also obvious who she grows into. lauriam’s little sister, strelitzia, went missing around when they keyblade war began. he knows she’s apart of the dandelions, but he’s extremely worried about her. so he starts trying to investigate her whereabouts...

it’s revealed that strelitzia had a crush on player (yeah regardless of gender its awesome) and was also supposed to be one of the five union leaders. right before the war started, she realized player weren’t a dandelion and wanted to recruit them so they wouldnt, you know, die, so she and her chirithy went looking for them. unfortunately, during their search an unknown person attacked the two of them, and they died, with streltizia wishing she had been brave enough to talk to player.

not knowing of her fate, both her brother and former party member continue their search for strelitzia, with lauriam talking to the player because he knew of her feelings toward them. he also asks the other union leaders to help him in his search.

after meeting lauriam, player and ephemer discover something strange, their world seems to be glitching out. brain discovered that during the keyblade war they all ended up in a digital world, rather than the real world. player is sent out to discover a way to get rid of these glitches, while the union leaders try to learn more about strelitzia and how to escape back to the real world.

eventually they find a list that ava had with the names of the new union leaders: ephemer, skuld, brain, lauriam, and strelitzia. ventus was not on this list. when confronted about it, ventus finds he can't remember what he was doing or where he was on the day she went missing, and lauriam loses his cool, believing that his sister might have been killed by someone he was starting to trust. a darkness soon poured out of ventus, and claimed that it was responsible for killing her and using ventus as a vessel to do it. turns out there's like 13 sentient darknesses that are trying to escape back to the real world before this digital one falls apart.

ven was suddenly engulfed by a bright light that helped keep the darkness at bay, but it soon drained him of his energy and caused him to pass out. lauriam kept watch over him, soon comforted by what appears to be his sister's spirit, asking what happened to the kind brother she used to know?

the union leaders, elrena, and player all get ready for their final confrontation with darkness and the destruction of their data world. there are only six "life boats" that can safely bring people back to the real world, one that was already used by maleficent to travel out of there (long story, its kind of supposed to be why shes back in kh2. its basically a version of herself created by the book of prophecies that escaped?) so only five can be used by our other characters. lauriam, ventus, and elrena leave first, elrena wasn't sure about being chosen to escape, but he reminded her that they still need to find strelitzia, as they have reason to believe she might still be out there, just not here. this leaves player, brain, skuld, and ephemer to decide who leaves.

before they can figure it out, the darknesses appear once more, demanding that they leave a path for them to escape as well, or they'll take player hostage. ephemer tells them that he'll keep the darkness distracted, while they climb into the lifeboat and escape. but instead of playing along, player pretends to be possessed by darkness, and fights their friends in order to save them.

in the end, ephemer shoots a powerful beam of light at the player, sucking them and the darknesses into a portal of light, sobbing as he apologizes to his lost friend.

ephemer and skuld take the last lifeboats together, as brain decided to stay back, believing that he could figure out another way to escape the crumbling data world. skuld thanks ephemer for being there for her at the end of everything, as the two of them close their eyes and escape to the real world.

player soon finds themself and chirithy surrounded by several dandelions and their chirithies, as the wielders fall asleep and their familiars transform into the dream eaters we know and love from ddd. chirithy explains that they're changing to protect their wielders from harm while their hearts sleep, and player asks if they're going to sleep too. chirithy tells them they can, if they want to. but player decides to take their chances, and are reborn as a new heart many, many, many years into the future. the two embrace, and wait for a new life to begin.

meanwhile, all of the other characters who escaped wake up in different worlds, in different times. ephemer finds himself in the destruction of the real daybreak town, alone and in the sea, it's here that he builds a new world; scala ad caelum. lauriam finds himself in a field of flowers, likely dwarf woodlands. elrena is seen in what looks like enchanted dominion, near maleficent's castle during a thunder storm. ventus wakes up in the keyblade graveyard before being approached by what is likely master xehanort. luxu is seen carrying the black box, taking off his hood and revealing someone who looks just like brain, but we can't be too sure it's him (i dont think it is but we'll see).

what we do know about brain, is that at some point luxu approached him in the data world, but we don't know what came of their meeting. for all we know, he possessed him, but the in the final scene of the game, brain wakes up in scala ad caelum, dazed and confused. he meets a new character named sigurd, but we don't know much about him yet. he shows brain around, eventually bringing him to a fountain where ephemer's image has been immortalized.

the thing about me is if you ask me to explain kh to you i will do it dont test me. however i cannot guarantee ill explain it in a way that will make sense.
