summary: you take over celica's place as duma's vessel

celica should've been duma's vessel

she had made the choice to sacrifice herself so that she could protect the people she loved

but then you came and take her place, wanting to protect her instead

as soon as celica learned about you becoming duma's vessel, she felt conflicted

on one hand, she was mad at you! 

how could you be so reckless and sacrifice yourself like that? you shouldn't have to carry that burden!

on the other hand, celica understood you all too well…

she would've done the same and only now that you took that spot from her is she able to understand how much she would've hurt her loved ones by sacrificing herself

all celica wants now is to get you back safely and make sure duma is defeated, so nobody has to suffer like this again!

Whenever I pass your orv x twsb art I can’t help but giggle because Dokja and Jesse are complete opposites and the way they’d act in each other’s places is so funny to me

I can imagine priest Dokja being the smarmiest little schemer (affectionate) and at some point just taking over politically

Meanwhile Jesse would have absolutely zero clue about what’s going on at any given moment and I think that’s funny

Schemer Priest KDJ is exactly what I imagine he'd get up to—imagine Just A Guy with the purest ether imaginable but the way he smiles makes you feel like he'd scam you and your money for a single confession. He wears all white and should probably look saintly, but he mostly passes off as a sketchy cult leader. It's hilarious to me and KDJ should probably be grateful that the confessionals have screens between the Priest and Penitent boxes so that no one can feel suspicious of his smile (though his tone of voice, no matter how benevolent he speaks, would probably also just naturally arouse suspicion in some people LMAOOOOOO). But I do believe he'd be able to handle himself quite nicely after his transmigration—after all, "Kim Dokja" has had plenty of experience with rumours and preconceptions about his character. In his new life, at the very least, he can go through it with magical priestly abilities. Time to secure himself a leisurely life and avoid death!! (He's not gonna succeed.)

As for Yeseo, it's my personal headcanon that in an ORV/Star Stream AU, he would have left home for work that day after accidentally grabbing Eunseo's phone instead of his, hence why he'd even be able to have a .txt file of the original QPB story at all hahahahahah. You could also imagine an alternative AU where he goes in absolutely blind regarding the future, where he only has vague and biased memories from what little Eunseo has told him of the scenarios ahead wkwkwkkw. And though I portrayed Cédric as YJH in both that piece and my orv!twsb AU fic, the true YJH is Ham Ga-in Christelle haha, and I believe that her being the protagonist would greatly shape the atmosphere and tone of the following events. Chris, Cédric (who I like to compare to Lee Seolhwa LMAO), and their other companions would take good care of our Yeseo, and vice-versa!

Anyway yeah hahaha!! KDJ and JYS are such antithesis and their stories reflect that too (and yet, also share surprising amounts of themes and values despite such vastly different original tonal atmospheres), which is why AUs of each others' world work so well, in their own funny ways.

Random Sayers thought-

I've seen people say that Gaudy Night is when Harriet becomes a co-detective with Wimsey, or even solo detective of her own mystery. I was always surprised by this, and the more I think about it the more I think that's not true. She's a co-detective with Wimsey in Have His Carcase, because she has to* and finds it interesting and (secretly, I think) wants to show Peter what she's made of and collaborate with him on equal terms- and just hang around him in general, just like he wants to hang around her.

*By "she has to," I mean that she needs to be in control of her fate. She's tied up in this case and can't stand by and let other people solve it and suspect her again (and can't let Peter seem to be just being the gallant knight-errant again, either, she's had enough of that). I've read stuff on Harriet and PTSD before but the world can always use more, hint hint...

But in Gaudy Night, not only does she not solve the mystery, she doesn't realize what Peter has until the very end. What she is able to do is be detail oriented, put together the dossier, place it in an order that Peter is able to follow and allow him to solve it. She's a writer; that's what she does. And she's a writer who doesn't want to become subsumed in Peter, who doesn't want him, or being with him, to define her. She doesn't need to solve the case- her association with him shouldn't have to be about solving cases. She just needs to write the book that's in her to write.

In the punt, she and Peter realize that she is almost blinded from being able to solve the case because of her own jaundiced view of the situation, her own personal struggles, and the narrative that she is internally composing. As a writer, her job isn't to interpret situations- it's to create them. She's not meant to be following someone else's clues and plainly observing facts, she's meant to be creating her own narrative. If she could put everything to the side to solve the case, she would be putting to the side the things that make her HER. Peter can solve it because a) that's HIS thing/way of dealing with things and b) he knows she wants it to be solved.

(Incidentally, he also knows that he might be "sawing off [his] own branch" in doing so, but that's fine, because the thing that they both have in common, that unites them despite their different functions in the world and different skill sets, is a dedication to truth.)

By Busman's Honeymoon, the pretense that Harriet is a co-detective is basically gone. She's there to shed her own light on the situation as a novelist and an observer of character, but Peter is the detective. And that's important because the books is so much about what happens when the two of them actually take a stab at the thing they've decided may actually work by the end of Gaudy Night- having Harriet join Peter without being subsumed in him. Having him be able to continue his life's work with her support and despite her growing realization of what it entails, and having him realize that the unique angles that she gives him are complementary but different to what he himself has.

It's also important because it's clear that they're with each other for who they are as people and not what they each do. In Gaudy Night, Peter says that he thinks Harriet hasn't written the book that she could if she tried- not that her current books aren't good but that she's better than them. In Busman's Honeymoon, Harriet fully realizes that Peter's work makes him suspect sympathetic people and ultimately leads to capital punishment (she obviously knew this, but as she notes, it's different when the same delicate hands that... you know... are also the ones that do THAT...). And for each of them, they're able to say "this is who you are and what you do and I believe in your right to, and ability to, do it- and hope that you will accept me as a part of your life as you do so."

Imagine if Gold could see the whole thing. Looking through some sort of window and seeing their dad suffer after the incident. Seeing him almost destroy Minecraft, but then finally starting to heal and let others back into his life. Even starting to care for another. I think they'd be relieved that he's doing better, but still be scared and alone from their own situation. I think they'd thank Purple for taking care of their dad and maybe even consider them the older sibling they never could've had. Good sees the deal victim makes with Mango and begs them not to do it, because they don't want him to go through more pain and push people away again. They want to go back, but they don't want other people being hurt because of it.

it is obvious that King doesn't want to do this but he loves his kids a lot and the initial deal seemed somewhat manageable... then it sort of spiraled out of control. and it became more and more obvious that this is something King can't manage-- SC and their friends being endangered was really just the last straw honestly

dancing under the stars

pairing: celica x gn!reader

summary: you and celica dance together under the nightsky

"the stars are so beautiful tonight…"

celica stared out of her window, watching the night sky. you were sitting just a bit further away from her, holding a book in your hands. and yet your eyes were on celica this entire time.

"why don't we take a better look at them outside then?"

you put the book away and stood up, walking over to the window where celica stood. you didn't give celica much time to reply, grabbing her hand and gently pulling her with you outside into the garden.

once outside, you still held onto her hand, as celica looked up at the night sky, watching the twinkling stars in awe. in the distance, there was a faint melody, played on a harp. it seemed like that melody had caught celica's attention as well, as she took her eyes off the stars and instead looked around for the source of the sound.

"do you like this melody?"

you asked, getting a soft nod from celica as a reply. for another moment, it was quiet between the two of you, until you gathered your courage and spoke up once more.

"would you like to dance with me?"

celica's head whipped around and she looked up at you surprised, a small smile resting on her lips. 

"here?"

"of course. there's nothing more romantic than dancing underneath the stars at night, wouldn't you say~?"

a small blush spread over her cheeks, barely visible in the dark. and yet, you were observing her so closely that you wouldn't miss a single detail about her.

celica softly nodded and closed the distance between you, carefully resting her hands on your shoulders, while you placed your hands on her waist, holding her close to you.

slowly, the two of you started to move to the sound of the harp. with each step you took, the distance between the two of you got smaller and smaller, until you were face to face with each other, unable to take your eyes off one another. the two of you just quietly kept dancing, not even noticing that the melody in the distance had stopped a long time ago…

i do think denji is the antithesis and critique to shonen protags, specifically the more recent/current archetypes, thus ushering the end of this archetype.
