fascinating to me that one kristoph gavin, knowing he's fucked by the end of turnabout trump, doesn't decide to go nuclear and just say That Evidence Is Forged, Here's The Real Ace, I May Be A Murderer But Apollo Presented False Evidence, Disbar His Ass NOW
#ik it's because like. it's literally turnabout trump as in trump card as in the ace. so it has to be the last word#HOWEVER. this is not going to stop me from reading that as some weird lingering#affection? fondness? emotional/time investment? in his protege.#alternatively imagine apollo justice disbarred after 4-1 that would be so wild#in his first trial his mentor turns out to be a murderer set up by their client and apollo gets disbarred#courtroom drama like no other#oooo the bitterness toward phoenix that would create ... yum yum!!#ace attorney#aa4#freewheeling bitextual#ok maybe he got rid of it permanently idr but STILL. look. let me have my fun.

In SoJ 6-5 trial Day 1, Apollo finally has something in common with Phoenix.
He won a court case because his big-chested mentor figure told him not to give up, and believe in himself.

Sunday Six!
Phew, okay, more Ace Attorney for the crowd today, from the same WIP as last week's post. This time injecting a few silly headcanons, because why not!
No spoilers either but mentions characters from the AJ trilogy :)
Tagging... hoo boy let's hope I get everyone. @four-white-trees @ikainkspills @mike----wazowski @jichanxo @passthroughtime @skysquid22 @phantasy14 @nyxqueenofshadows
---
Apollo looks at his options. There are the usual culprits: pop music CDs from Wright's childhood, a couple classical collections that seemed out of place, some CDs Apollo had gotten at Trucy's insistence, and a few CDs that were gifts from agency friends and clients. Apollo moves to grab a CD that Clay had gotten for him, a rock group whose whole shtick is space themed songs (Apollo immediately noticed the irony then, and didn't need the help of Clay's shit-eating grin).
His hand stops a few albums to the left of its intended destination, though, at Trucy's collection of Gavineers albums.
#sunday six#my writing#literally wrote this before bed last night so uh. excuse that lmao#love the idea that the offices are full of little tidbits from clients/friends/whatnot#also yes the band that Clay gave Apollo a CD for is Starset lmfao#it just. it fits SO WELL cmon. as for which album uhhhh. probably either Vessels or Horizons#also i've been falling for klapollo and their dynamic so. I was intending this fic to just be apollo getting distractd + the trucy debate#but uh. klavier has his ways i guess#may have apollo start daydreaming or something...#anyway! i got shit to do so yippee time to go deal with family (bleh)

thinking abt dahlia and alita parallels.. 4-2 is kinda a parallel to 3-1 really with how both wocky and phoenix were defending their 'lover' whose really trying to kill them.. really really neat
#its soooo cool tht alita came to apollo for legal aid bc she believed he was incompetent and would get wocky declared guilty#like its so obvious in hindsight but u dont realize it at the time.. like yeah duh why would anyone want apollo to be their lawyer#sent his boss to jail+ is a rookie+ kristophs firm is right there. who in their right mind is going to WAA for legal aid during this period#now that i think of it.. its a neat contrast tht all of apollos client 'came' to him#meanwhile wright has had to sought after majority of his clients#case 2 was so coollll... every case was really cool in its own way really#aaing

I am over obsessing again 😬
Just why Capcom!
Why don't you give us more of the gavin Brothers..
Give Klavier some closure (and me ;-;)
klapollo week day 5: parallels
(lingering effects)

#;-;#apollo justice#klavier gavin#art#<3#klapollo#But honestly I like the idea of apollo beeing a bit like kristoph#I think Kristophs personality is far to interesting to let go of#Also terrible execution his ideas are reasonable and stand against wrights belief in the innocent of your client for a reason#like they both need to compine their statements#trust evidence and belive in the innocence of your client#And apollo is the only one who can bring that together

#in his entire trilogy phoenix had only 3 clients that committed any sort of felony (lana engarde iris) meanwhile these are literally all#apollos very first cases LMAO#a disbarred lawyer a smuggler and an art forger all walk into a bar etc#my post

Just a sketch that I was too tired to finish... And since it's Father's Day I'm just gonna dump a bunch of my more silly (mostly) headcanons about their dynamic below, teehee.
General - They argue. A lot. About anything. Jason is the instigator. Harvey is almost always correct. - There has been a karaoke battle at some point. - They smoke far too much and smoke breaks are common occurrences during anti-hero outings. They are no longer mere breaks; they are rituals. - One of the only things they are comfortable openly bonding over is their alleged hatred of Bruce - and weapons. - Actually work very well together in combat. Jason's accurate, hard-hitting martial arts expertise and agility compliment Harvey's more elegant and violent approach. Gotham's scumbags are cooked. - They were both slain by Gotham, and reborn. They are now both living their second life - neither want to admit to each other that they find comfort that they're not alone in this. - They will take any opportunity to bring up each other's past interactions; the two-toned car, the two-story building fiasco, the kidnapping, anything. - Jason's biological father is the root cause of their most explosive, brutal fights. Both of them, however, are exhausted and have other shit to worry about, so they avoid this topic as best as they can.
Jason's POV - Teases Harvey about twos, duality and doubles to distract from the horrors. - When angry, will call Harvey 'Apollo' to piss him off. Sometimes it's 'Ex-District Attorney', with emphasis on the 'Ex'. - He doesn't like it very much when Harvey attempts to get close/connect with him; relationships are transactional. At least that's how Jason views them. - Hates being passenger in Harvey's car because he doesn't get any say over the radio. - He does view Harvey as a parental figure, or something like it, but he's conflicted. - Actually appreciates it when Harvey helps him through PTSD episodes. - Sadly, he isn't very good at helping Harvey through dissociation/depressive episodes yet. He sort of stands there like the man emoji. - Will randomly come out with courtroom related lines when Harvey does something bad, like: "Your honour, my client would like to plead Gemini," or "Your honour, in my client's defence, he didn't know the safety lock was off." - Makes jokes about Harvey's thugs all wanting to have 'a night' with Harvey. - Absolutely refuses to call Harvey "dad", even jokingly. He will have sightseen everything in Hell before that happens. - But at the same time he cries out for a father figure, one that is proud of him, that loves him. He secretly loves it when Harvey pats his shoulder or gives an approving nod.
Harvey's POV - Will make jokes about Jason being alive again to distract from the horrors. - When angry, calls Jason 'Robin' or 'Pup' (name of a baby bat) to piss him off. - Tries to bond with Jason - he *wants* to - but he's a big dumbass about it. - Does not understand Jason's music taste and doesn't have any desire to. - Views Jason as the child he never had the chance to have. In a sense, that makes him quite protective of Jason, but he hides this. He tries desperately not to be like his own father. - Is quite good at understanding Jason's emotions; he knows how to deal with his attacks and does, begrudgingly, use tips he learned from his previous therapists. - Doesn't wish to burden Jason with his own episodes. Unfortunately it's not always possible to hide them. - Just as Jason tortures him with puns, Harvey will do it right back. He'll come out with things like, "We only put up with you because you were the SECOND Robin," or "How would you like to die a second time?" - He will stand and stare awkwardly when Jason brings (sneaks) lovers back to the hideout. But he minds his business. - May have accidentally called Jason his son a few times. Or his "kid". But not to Jason directly, only in his talks between himself and Two-Face. - He likes seeing Jason happy. So many kids and young people are let down by Gotham's corruption and he'll be damned if Jason becomes a victim of it (again).
#Obviously I have way more complex stuff to say but it's late and I wanted to keep things relatively lighthearted so yeah. <3#long post#tw: smoking#tw: mental health#harvey dent#jason todd#two-dads au#headcanons#dc comics#sketches#rambles#reginalususart

At 20 years old, Miles Edgeworth’s only mentor tells him never to step foot into his opponent’s territory lest he fail to crush them in court. 4 years later, Edgeworth enters Defendant Lobby No. 1 to warn opposing counsel Phoenix Wright about Redd White’s decisive testimony.
Some post-AAI1 reflections + how Phoenix unravels Miles from the very moment they meet again.
After playing through the original trilogy, up to 4-2 on Apollo Justice, and all of Ace Attorney Investigations 1, I couldn’t help but jot down my (admittedly incomplete) thoughts about Phoenix and Edgeworth’s relationship, especially as it pertains to Miles’ “unraveling,” or his departure from von Karma’s teachings.
We already know von Karma had no love for Edgeworth. Crushing the late Gregory Edgeworth’s legacy under the guise of mentoring his son (and eventually ruining his career at its peak) was von Karma’s last act of hatred towards the departed.
From Miles’ perspective, however, von Karma was an accomplished teacher to whom he owed his gratitude and career’s success. This is important because Edgeworth’s actions are fundamentally motivated by his desire to express his “gratitude,” repay debts, and honor legacies.
His debt to von Karma compels him to strive for the perfection his mentor obsesses over. Achieving perfection takes the form of absorbing von Karma’s teachings, among them the AAI1 screenshot from earlier: only face your opponent in court, and make sure you crush them when you do it.
We know for a fact that the “demon prosecutor” internalizes von Karma’s teachings. He follows them to a T.

So, following 15 years of indoctrination, 4 years of putting the von Karma creed into practice, and an entire childhood AND early adulthood’s worth of gratitude, you’d THINK Edgeworth wouldn’t dare dishonor him…
Until he does, by coming to the defendant lobby to speak to his “enemy.”
Prior to playing AAI1, I thought the impetus for Edgeworth’s character development was 1-3, wherein he reevaluated the facts of the case and helped Phoenix get Dee Vasquez a guilty verdict. I still think 1-3 was the first time he consciously acknowledged the possibility (keyword: possibility) that his prosecutorial upbringing wasn’t..sound…(lmao!)
But with this AAI1 von Karma and Bratworth interaction, I now believe it was 1-2—with Edgeworth subconsciously disregarding his mentor’s teachings and Phoenix acting as the catalyst—that shows us when he first strayed from the path of a Von Karma.
An aside: Do I think AAI1 Bratworth was perfectly characterized? Not at all; he’s much too noble for that era of his life, though I don’t think it affects my case.
Edgeworth is a man full of contradictions. He comes to the defendant lobby to tell Phoenix his case is hopeless, though he has no obligation to disclose—nor has he ever set a precedent of disclosing—decisive witnesses’ information to his opponents.
He tells Phoenix he’ll do anything to get a guilty verdict, yet he warns the defense that his witness’s testimony will be considered infallible, prompting the player (Phoenix) to dissect the following testimonies with more care.

He tells Phoenix not to expect any special treatment from him, yet his very presence in the defendant’s lobby is in direct opposition to his respected mentor’s wishes.

It takes just one appearance from Phoenix for the filaments of von Karma’s indoctrination to unravel. 4 years into his career, Edgeworth has met many attorneys—most notably, Mia Fey—who embody Phoenix’s faith in his clients, yet none could shake his foundations like Phoenix Wright.
Edgeworth may have not been ready to turn a new leaf upon his first encounter with Phoenix, but the fact that a loose thread from his childhood (that’s emblematic of his innocence, his dreams, and dare I say his father’s drive) ultimately leads to his unraveling is poetry if I’ve ever seen it.
TL;DR Phoenix deconstructs Edgeworth like he was born to do so. The moment Phoenix decided to chase after him, Edgeworth had already lost.

One of the best parts of the Apollo Justice game is the absurdity of the situation Apollo is in. Imagine you get hired by Frankie Jonas (you have no idea who the Jonas brothers are) and get asked to defend a local disbarred lawyer (who you do know). That disbarred lawyer adopted Criss Angel's daughter after he disappeared. Frankie Jonas killed Criss Angel. Two months later you find out you're going up against Joe Jonas in court and you haven't even heard Cake By The Ocean. Your client is a member of the LA mafia.
The next case you're on is a murder at Joe Jonas' concert, which you were invited to by him. His guest act was Björk, who unbeknownst to you is your mother. Also the mother of Criss Angel's daughter. But your father is not Criss Angel, it's Sufjan Stevens (deceased). The murderer of Björk's manager was Joe Jonas' bandmate JinJoo Lee.
The game culminates in David Blaine (who was in love with your mom, Björk) confessing to framing Criss Angel for David Copperfield's (your grandfather) suicide, and Frankie Jonas admitting that he has committed a second murder. And your new boss has been working with Interpol or some shit for the last seven years to take Frankie Jonas down and get his badge back.
