Hi there! I was wondering if you can help me color line art on Autodesk Sketchbook (mobile). I'm having some troubles trying to color some line art, and it's really frustrating for me.
it’s been a min since I’ve used sketchbook, but I think locking your lineart layer is how you’d do it since the app doesn’t have a clipping mask option !
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(1 & 2) hit that lock near your layer and you should be able to manually color in your lineart layer
(3) the lock function featured under ALL the layer settings (when you tap a layer) is a different story though—hit the lock from there and it puts your entire layer on a lockdown so that no further marks can be made on it until you’ve unlocked it! This is a good feature in case you’ve got a habit of accidentally drawing on the wrong layer 💀💀 me. it’s ME
hope this helps!

I've done a lot of art over the past few years but neglected to keep this blog up. I'm going to try and catch up eventually. Thank you for your patience. Have some extremely peripherally Rothko-inspired things I made in the sketchbook app.

Heyo :)
I wanted to start off by saying how much I love your art!! 💛💛💛
And also what art app/website do you use? I wanna try to get into digital art so any recommendations for where to start?
Hi I'm sorry I totally missed this ask! D: ahem anyway art program recc let's go!
What I'm using now is clip studio paint, which is something you have to pay for unfortunately. But I did start out on free drawing apps, the best one I've used so far being medibang paint. It works similarly to csp with lots of layers, brushes and tools. I think it's a good start if you wanna get to know how to draw digitally

What brush do you use for lineart?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
for lineart, I like using the tattoo inker brush! I modified some of the stamp settings, mostly just changing the rotation dynamics to "rotate to stroke" so the line width stays consistent. EDIT: i thought I would like to add that another brush I use for lineart is the primary pencil (below), although the only thing I change when using it is the brush size!
for rough gradient(?) or adding extra color to my lineart, I use the dry marker! I don't remember, but I think I changed some nib settings like the texture scale?
All of these brushes can be found on Autodesk Sketchbook Mobile! I use it on my iPad so they're exclusive only to this app. I hope this helps!!!
