Israel Stop Killing Palestinians Civilians
The Israel Government says it is in a war with Hamas. If so, why are so many Palestinians civilians suffering and being killed? Why have you cut off food and water to the millions civilians that live in Gaza. Your actions are violating God's commandments. This mass killing is violating Christian & Jewish teaching like "love your neighbor", " thou shal not kill".....

This week's theme is "together". Having just returned from celebrating together with my family, it was uplifting to read so many news articles of Israelis working together, and also with global partners. Ben Gurion Uni is working together with Israel's OncoHost on a cancer biosensor; Tel Aviv Uni has got together with UCLA to treat memory loss; Israel's BioNanoSim is marketing its eye disease treatments together with a Greek manufacturer; and the world's first AI chatbot for cancer patients is called "Beating Cancer Together" from Israel's Belong.Life. Yad Sarah volunteers have together saved Israel billions by providing ancillary medical services; the International Fellowship of Christians & Jews is celebrating 40 years of uniting Jews together with their homeland; for over 30 years, Israeli children have been receiving emotional therapy by swimming together with dolphins. And recently, a record 1,127 Birthright participants enjoyed Shabbat together at Jerusalem's Western Wall. Rarely publicized examples of "togetherness" include Jewish residents of Judea who frequently save the lives of their Palestinian Arab neighbors; the annual Veteran Games between injured UK and Israeli soldiers; and International legislators coming to Israel to strengthen bilateral ties. Israel and Japan have been connecting together at the Israel-Japan Conference in Tokyo; The latest stage of Israel's National Drone network is testing hundreds of commercial UAVs flying together; and Israel's Steakholder Foods and Singapore's Unami Meats are cultivating no-fish fish together. Finally, Israelis have attained some incredible teamwork achievements. The IDF's Special In Uniform Band just performed their 500th show together; Israel's Under 20 soccer team came 3rd in the World Cup; and two Israelis can be considered "joined at the hip" having just completed a unique marathon race together - one of them was a kidney donor, and the other was the recipient of her kidney. The photo is one single poster on the wall of the arrivals hallway at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International airport. The two images together show two of the multi-faceted sides of little Israel - busy innovating, while conserving and improving the environment.

One more ProPally post about "Palestinian rightful name" of any city that was established circa 1550-2000 BC* and I'm gonna throw punches.
How illiterate can a person get. What the fuck went so wring with your respective country's educational system.
We are at Fake History 1.01 now?

Hagar and Ishmael/The Bible and Proper Nouns (Essay)
Tumblr media
The Bible has major flaws. That is the overuse of proper nouns for people's names. I won't say anything about the didactic value of the Bible. The account in Matthew and the account in Lao Tzu have certain similarities, and even for me, whose sect is Lao Tzu, I have no words to deny the Bible.
But what about the following account from Genesis? “Sarah, who was unable to have children, consulted with her husband Abraham (the ancestor of Israel) and had Hagar, a female slave, become his concubine. Hagar gave birth to a boy, Ishmael, and Ishmael was about to become the heir, but Sarah also had a boy (Isaac).  and Sarah banished Hagar and Ishmael's mother and son into the wilderness. Through God's arrangement, this mother and son survived and became the ancestors of the Arab people."
From the perspective of fundamentalist Christians (e.g. evangelicals) who accept the Bible word for word, it is possible to read this statement in any other way than to say that Arabs are descendants of female slaves and are an inferior race from the perspective of the Israelites.
This view arises because the Bible's writings reduce the origins of a nation with its diverse generative processes to a single individual (a proper noun), and label the nation as a whole. In fact, regarding the current conflict between Israel and Hamas, a certain female member of the Republican Party, whose base of support is evangelicals, said, ``The Palestinians should be destroyed.''
The Bible's overuse of proper nouns gives rise to this misperception. It's easy to understand, but it confuses people. On the other hand, there are almost no proper nouns in Lao Tzu. Although it is difficult to understand, there are fewer misunderstandings. I dare say that what the world needs in the future is not the Bible but Lao Tzu.

Hey! I'd really like to learn more about the (recent) history of Israel and wanted to ask if there are any books you can recommend?
Hey I've thought about this ask quite a while and there's just so much stuff about Israel, what exactly do you qualify as "recently"? Like since 1948, since the 1967, since 1990s etc?
There's quite a lot of books and tbh, it also really depends on what you're interested in and if course, you should also read Palestinian stuff along with it. Personally, the Israeli writers/intellectuals I really enjoy are Yehuda Amichai (mostly poetry but really political), Yoram Kaniuk (his book "1948" is, I think, the closest to the true story of the founding of the state from the Israeli POV that you're going to find, even if many people won't admit it, also his book about the Exodus is really really good) and Yeshayahu Leibowitz (who has some really interesting thoughts especially about the relationship between state and religion, which is a super complex issue in Israel). I also remember enjoying Rabbi Sachs' book about the future of the state of Israel and a lot of people say he's very approachable even if you know very little about this whole issue.
From the Palestinian side, of course reading Mahmoud Darwish is just as important as reading Yehuda Amichai is for Israel, Edward Said is also considered important enough that you have to read him even though I honestly am kinda ambivalent about him. There's also currently a lot of debate at least in Germany about the book "A minor detail" (which deals with "the other side" of Kaniuk's 1948) and while I felt like that book left a lot of things out (like the fact that all of the Israeli soldiers involved in the main action of the book faced criminal charges and the whole thing was not just treated as a minor detail but rather a big scandal in the Israeli army) it is an important part of the story.
If you want more recent history, I've read both Pfeiffer's biography of Bibi (which was HILARIOUS because that guy very obviously hated Bibi and was using the weirdest opportunities to be petty about him) as well as Bibi's autobiography and I feel like there is no understanding current Israel without understanding Bibi and while I absolutely have zero love for the guy as a person or a politician, he is also very much a product of his circumstances.
Also this isn't a book but my boyfriend is currently obsessed with a YouTube channel called "The Ask Project" where people can send in questions and he asks Palestinians or Israelis that, and I think a lot of the questions are good and he really makes an effort to be fair.

The German author Sigrid Hunke wrote her famous book Allahs Sonne über dem Abendland, or Allah’s sun over the Occident. This book was published in 1960. She wrote another entitled Allah ist ganz anders, or Allah is Unlike That. In this book she defends Muslim and Islamic history and civilisation. She quotes an interesting and important text which describes an attitude similar to what many Muslims experience today as they look with admiration at Western civilisation. She quotes the Bishop of Cordova as he speaks of the superiority of Islamic civilisation. He laments the status of his people, saying:
Many of my co-religionists read tales of the Arabs and study the writings of Muslim philosophers and religious scholars. They do not do so to refute them, but to master the Arabic language and be able to express themselves in good and fine style. Where do we have today a non-specialist Christian who can read Latin exegesis of the Bible?
Where do we find Christians who study the four Gospels and the Books of Prophets and the Acts of the Apostles?
Alas! All Christian young men who have excelled with their talents only know Arabic language and literature. They exert maximum effort in studying Arabic references, and spend much of their money on buying Arabic books. They say openly and everywhere that Arabic literature is most admirable. Should anyone try to persuade them to concentrate on Christian books, they dismiss these as being of no concern to them.
What a disaster! Christians have even forgotten their mother tongue.
You can hardly find one in a thousand among them who can compose a simple letter in good Latin, while those who have mastered written and spoken Arabic are countless. Indeed, some can write poetry in Arabic.
They even excel the Arabs in that regard.
