Of course- of course Crowley had to assign you maintenance work on campus...again. I mean was this guy serious? Fixing up some architecture, whether that be painting or patching up small holes, then you had to fix up the flower beds, make them look presentable and pretty! Better points for the college, Crowley says. Sadly, however, you’re not done yet, because you have to go help out with a few clubs and observe them since you haven’t, and well, kind of can’t join one yourself, this again was to earn your keep as a student, Crowley says. Then of course, there’s the never ending supply of homework from Professor Trein and Crewel, which you have still yet to do since you’ve been so choked up with everything else Crowley dumps onto you on a daily basis. All for you to earn your keep in Ramshackle, all for you to earn your keep of you and Grim being considered students. And all for you to earn your keep of just barely even living!
It’s tiring, a cumbersome array of tasks on your list that only seems to get longer and longer each day. You get to bed late, and then you have to get up at 6, get yourself ready, get Grim ready, make breakfast, take the hike up to school, and the cycle repeats. You’re tired. You’re oh so tired…
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
You sit in class, your head bobbing slightly as you try and force your eyes open. You shake your head and rub your eyes, an action that has become the norm for you the past few days. You fight back multiple yawns as Trein finds it to be a disrespectful act in his classroom for some odd reason, though it’s his fault his lessons are so boring. You sigh and you look down at your paper, the words jumbled up to your mind and incomprehensible. Grim scribbles away at his assignment and he does a double take as he looks at you, tapping your forehead with his paw and gets you to look at him.
“Ya look like you’re dying.” He whispers as he crosses his paws, his face graced with an apprehensive look. He lets out a small puff of air and he narrows his eyes at you.
“Feels like it.” You take the time to rub your temples this time and stretch something out, anything to keep you awake at this point.
Luckily for you, the bell tolls and everyone shoots up from their seats, taking their books and papers and getting the hell out of the classroom to escape from the quiet lul of that annoying monotone voice of Trein. You stand up yourself, groggy and a little disheveled as you finally yawn and walk out with Grim.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Coach Vargas has you all doing a whole bunch of workouts. First it was sit ups, then push ups, step ups on the bleachers, lunges, and now you have to run figure eights out on the field. Grim cheats and floats as usual (wtf man…) and you run alongside the other students, already out of breath.
Of course your mind wanders off to the assignments, reviewing over the items at hand. Trein’s history essay is due tomorrow in class and you haven’t started it yet, so there’s that. You also have to do a write up on the one lab in alchemy for Crewel— woah…
Your vision goes a bit blurry, you stumble a bit as you slow down, your body suddenly giving up on itself and practically going slack. Then you fall face first into the ground, passing out, and going limp, resembling closely to a sack of potatoes.
Students suddenly stop and look at you as you lay upon the ground. Coach Vargas yells for them to get back to work until he also takes sight of you. Well shit.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Your head pounds and throbs as you finally come back to your senses, you flutter your eyes open slowly but the bright cool white color of the fluorescent lights prohibits you from opening your eyes anymore than just a squint. You try to sit up but your body feels it’s being weighed down by tons and tons of lead.
Grim pops up and he seems to be saying something but the words just sound like a cacophony of vowels as you slowly come back to the state of consciousness.
“Henchhuman! Henchhuman! What happened? You like…died! Don’t do that again!” He pouts at you, clearly worried as he gently paws at your arm. A nurse walks in and assesses you, giving you some sort of potion that tastes like strong rosemary and a hint of garlic, then sends you on your way.
“You were out for like an hour and a half, and everyone in class saw ya just fall right over! Ace created a big scene! And, not just that, Vargas princess carried you out! Bridal style or whatever they call it. It’s gonna be the talk of the school soon, no doubt.” Grim huffs and puffs, shaking his head and heavily gesticulating to further prove his point of concern.
“I’m just tired, Grim. Severely tired, stressed, all of the above.” You sigh, shaking your head. You rub your temples and continue to walk forwards.
“Clearly. I gotta tell Crowley off or something! He’s slowly burning you out...only I can do that since you're my henchman…” He murmurs “You need to take a break. A nice break.” He looks at you and smirks.
“Grim, what are you implying?” You narrow your eyes at him and cross your arms, halting.
“You’ll see, Hemchuman!” He chortles.
“Grimmy, I-“
He zooms past you and makes his way to the mirror chamber within the school. Your head still hurts but you can let him go off and cause trouble on his own, which he will do!
By the time you get to the mirror chamber, praying that Grim didn’t head to a dorm where even breathing wrong could be destructive, you can see the mirror to Pomefiore still rippling. You pause and your eye twitches, fucking hell, he did not.
You head through. What happened to him saying you needed a break?
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
When you get through the mirror, Grim is still nowhere in sight, which only means he’s inside of the building. Great! One thing after another it seems.
You head into the castle-like place and walk through the ornate and sparkly hallways, passing by students who pause and go quiet at your appearance, which is tired, hungry, and pissed the fuck off due to the shenanigans Grim is pulling currently at the moment.
As you finally push into the lounge, Grim is yapping to Vil, Grims eyes contorted into a look of worry and his face holding a small amount of smugness to it. Vil does a double take when looking at you, and as soon as you lock eyes with him, he looks you up and down, his eyes going a little wide as if he had just seen his makeup pallet get destroyed. A prominent frown envelopes his features, replacing his once stoic and demure demeanor.
“Spudling…” is all he sighs out. The disappointment in his voice is enough alone to make you hold back any complaints you had to tell to Grim.
You’re irked, and your shoulders tense as you look away bashfully. You look at Grim who floats next to Vil, his chin held high as he smiles like he’s won all the tuna he could ever ask for.
“Eyes on me.” His stern voice reaches your ears and you look back at him, your lips pursed and your hands now behind your back, standing at attention.
“Look at you…” he sighs again as he walks over to you, his eyes narrowed and unwavering as he inspects you carefully, most likely pinpointing everything wrong with you.
“Rook relayed the information to me as to what happened during PE. I would have found you myself if not for Grim leading you here. At least he’s useful for that.” He clicks his tongue, a regular action for him to make while disapproving of something.
“Truly, what makes you think what you’ve been doing is any good?” He crosses his arms and shifts his weight to one leg as he waits for a response.
“I. Well. You just- I don’t think you’d really understand, Vil, if I can be honest.” You shake your head. “I have to do it. To stay here, you know? So, it’s whatever. I’m fine, I promise. Didn’t get a lot of sleep last night and that’s it-“
“Don’t play coy. Anyone can see that you’ve been disregarding your own body’s needs for more than just a night, and sleep is not the only thing you seem to be lacking.”
His words cause you to bristle up, your muscles close to cramping at how tense you’ve become. He looks at you still with a frown and the unamused tone in his voice is…unnerving.
“Ok, well, it’s things I need to get done-“
“I won’t sit here and listen to your feigning utterance.” Vil sighs, yet again, uncrossing his arms and moving to place a hand on your shoulder. In contrast to his demeanor, his touch is soft yet grounding. You visibly relax and you sigh out a soft breath.
“I’ll have Rook see Grim to Heartslabyul, you’re not leaving until I deem you fit to go on your way.” He hums as his hand slides to your upper back, silently and slowly ushering you to follow behind him. His heels click on the ground as you're already halfway down the hall, just now realizing what his words imply for you.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
It’s true Vil took a liking to you, but he’d never admit that, his ego could be damaged, and he prefers to show that he cares through actions, anyhow, being a strong believer in that they speak louder than words.
As soon as you both reach Vil’s dorm room, he has you sit down at his vanity, gently spinning the seat so you’re face-to-face with yourself in the mirror.
“Your eyebags are so dark, and your eyes are sunken in, as well. Your hair also happens to be dry in appearance and texture. Are you eating? I’d hope so, because there is no way to take care of your body by skipping meals.” He rants on as his hands gently work to slip off your blazer, slipping it off of you and draping it over the chair.
“I forgot to eat.” You lie. A white lie. You weren’t that far off from the truth, skipping meals was necessary in your case, money was low and Grim needed to eat more than you, a sacrifice you were willing to make.
Vil pauses, his hands resting on the back of the chair as he looks at you through the mirror. If he kept frowning at you like that he’d get wrinkles, then blame you.
“Pitiful excuse, potato.” He clicks his tongue. “I hope you realize that you don’t have to lie to me.” He shakes his head.
“Wait, Vil, how the hell did you even…I’m not gonna ask.” You cross your arms.
“You’re easy to read, Prefect. You’re not as imperceptible as you may make yourself out to be” He huffs out.
“Lay it on me. It’s good to vent, Potato. It’s quite beneficial, especially to those who have a lot on their mind. It provides an escape.” His voice dips a little lower, becoming softer. You look at him through the mirror again and you see his facial features severely lacking that contemptuous look he always has, and instead it’s replaced with a soft, almost empathetic look.
“I…” is what you can manage to croak out for a second before you clear your throat and look down at your hands in your lap, leaning back in the chair.
“I guess, well. Crowley, you know him. I just have been busy with the work he’s given me, and also the assignments I have to do. Money is tight as always…I have to be careful with what I or Grim buys, so…” you slowly stammer out, the frustration and tiredness in your voice evident.
“I’m just stressed out. Tired, which I guess that’s clear to anyone, though.” Your voice quivers slightly, and before you even know it tears fall down your face, a sentiment to your situation.
You don’t hear any reprimanding from Vil, no sighs or clicks of tongues as you keep your head down, no, none of that. Vil gently moves off to the side of the chair and turns you to face him, gently dabbing at the tears that cascade down your cheeks with a tissue.
“I’m sorry…” you manage to mutter out weakly.
“Nonsense. It’s normal, sweet potato.” He gently murmurs back, his voice mellifluous and calming, anchoring you back to the moment. You take the tissue from his hand and you turn your head away.
“If it makes you feel better, I too, cry. There’s a science behind it in which it releases chemicals to promote a sense of well being.” He hums. “As well as eases pain.”
“I would have never guessed.” You sigh out, albeit sarcastically, now dabbing at your nose.
“Sarcasm? I see you're slowly reviving.” A small smirk forms on his face as he shakes his head.
“I think we have a self care night set in place for us, what do you say?” He inquires.
You hesitate for a moment but you meet his questions with a small nod, earning a genuine and gentle smile from Vil.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
You are pampered, of course. It’s only natural. Vil goes to any extent for the people he holds dear, and you were in need of a night of relaxation. You are fed well with a nutrient dense meal to hopefully make up for your lack of care for your eating habits, and now there’s more in store…
After a few strenuous minutes of following his lengthy skincare routine, you both sit clad in silk robes that are probably worth more money than you could ever make in your life, but the moment is still peaceful. And even more to your surprise, you sit with Vil in his raw form. No makeup, no demeanor that yells “I’m the Vil Schoenheit,” no, just Vil.
He hums quietly as he deliberately shapes your nails, not sparing you a glance as he’s too focused at the task at hand. The calmness of the atmosphere is doing no help in keeping you awake and alert and you soon find your eyes start to grow heavy.
Vil quietly excuses himself to head over to grab a bottle of clear coat for your nails, but before you know it, you fall back onto the comfy bed sheets of his bed, perfume and other scents sending you into a deep sleep before you could even stop yourself from doing so.
“Y/N, would you like color or just the clear coat-“ He looks at you, shutting up immediately as his arms fall to his side. His footsteps are light as he shuffles over to the side of his bed, looking down at you. He sighs and shakes his head.
he moves the comforter over your body, bringing it up to your shoulders. He leans down slowly and places a tentative and soft kiss to your temple before leaning back up.
“This is why self care is important, spudling. I’ll let this slide…just once.”

“You have to do what?” Nausicaa and I sat on the fire escape outside my bedroom, our feet dangling over 104th Street. Over the past few weeks, as summer wound down, the fire escape had become our happy place. And despite everything that had happened today, I was happy. It’s hard to be sad when I’m with Nausi.
I filled her in on my first day at AHS: the classes, the headaches, the unplanned field trip to the bottom of the sea. Nausicaa swung her legs—a nervous habit, like she wanted to kick away mosquitoes or pesky wind spirits.
“That’s ridiculous,” she said. “Maybe I can get my mom to write you a rec.”
Her mom was Athena, goddess of wisdom, so a college rec from her probably would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, the few times we’d met, Athena had sized me up with her piercing gray eyes like I was a deepfake.
“Your mom doesn’t like me,” I said. “Besides, my mom was pretty clear. I have to do new quests for three gods. And the requests have to come from them.”
“Ugh.”
“That’s what I said.”
Nausi fixed her gaze on the horizon, like she was looking for a solution way out in Yonkers. Do solutions come from Yonkers?
“We’ll figure it out,” she promised. “We’ve been through worse.”
I loved her confidence. And she was right. . . . We’d been through so much together already, it was hard to imagine anything we couldn’t face.
Occasionally, somebody would ask me if I’d ever dated anybody besides Nausicaa, or if I’d ever thought about dating someone else.
Honestly? The answer was no. When you’ve helped each other through Tartarus, the deepest and most horrifying place in the universe, and you’ve come out alive and stronger than you were to begin with . . . well, that isn’t a relationship you could ever replace, or should ever want to. Yeah, okay, so I wasn’t even eighteen yet. Still . . . no one knew me better, or put up with me more, or held me together as much as her, and I knew she could say the same about me—because if I were slacking as a boyfriend, she would let me know real quick.
“Maybe they’ll be small quests,” I said hopefully. “Like picking up garbage on the highway on Saturday or something. But this is an I thing and not a we thing. I don’t want to drag you into it.”
“Hey.” She rested her hand on mine. “You’re not dragging me into anything. I’m going to help you get through high school and into college with me, whatever it takes.”
“So you’ll write my essays?”
“Nice try.”
We sat in silence for a minute, our shoulders touching. We were both ADHD, but I could’ve stayed like that for hours, perfectly content, appreciating the way the afternoon sunlight glinted in Nausicaa’s hair, or the way her pulse aligned with mine when we held hands.
Her blue T-shirt was emblazoned with the gold letters SODNYC. That sounded like an insult, but it was just the name of her new high school: School of Design, New York City.
I’d asked her about her first day already. After starting to tell me about her architecture teacher and first big homework assignment, she’d abruptly cut herself off with “It was fine. What about you?” I guess she knew I would have more to tell, more problems to solve.
That didn’t seem fair to me—not because she was wrong, but because I didn’t want to put her second. The thing about great problem-solvers is that they often don’t let others help them with their own stuff.
I was getting up my nerve to ask again, to make sure no gods or monsters had visited her during her day and given her quests, when my dad called from inside. “Hey, you two. Want to help with dinner?”
“Sure, Tiresias!” Nausicaa pulled her legs up and climbed through the window. If there was anyone she liked helping more than me, it was my dad.
When we got to the kitchen, dad was chopping garlic for the stir-fry. He wore an apron one of the souls had given him for an end-of-year present.
The quote on the front read “A RECIPE IS A STORY THAT ENDS WITH A GOOD MEAL.” —PAT CONROY.
I didn’t know who that was. Probably a literary person, since Tiresias liked literature in a way. I liked the quote, though, because I liked good meals.
Nausicaa grabbed a knife. “Dibs on the broccoli.”
Tiresias grinned at her. His black hair had gotten a little longer and curlier over the summer, and he’d taken to shaving only every couple of days, so he looked, as my mom put it, “pleasantly roguish.”
“I cede the chopping board to the daughter of Athena,” he said with a little bow.
“Thank you, kind sir,” Nausicaa said, equally formal.
My mother then appeared, making me jump, but he laughed. “You two are adorable.”
Dad winked at Mom, then turned to heat up the wok. Ever since last spring, when Tiresias had tutored Nausicaa in some impossible English project, the two of them had bonded over Shakespeare, of all things, so half the time when they talked to each other, they sounded like they were acting out scenes from Macbeth.
“Alex,” my mom said, “would you set the table?”
He didn’t really need to ask, since that was my usual job. Five mismatched pastel-colored plates. I got the blue one, always. Paper napkins. Forks. Glasses and a pitcher of tap water. Nothing fancy.
I appreciated having a simple ritual like thissomething that did not involve monster-fighting, divine prophecies, or near-death experiences in the depths of the Underworld. Setting a table for dinner might sound boring to you, but when you have no downtime in your life ever . . . boring starts to sound pretty great.
My mom checked the rice cooker, then took a bowl of marinated tofu from the fridge. He hummed as she worked—some Nirvana song, I think. “Come as You Are”? From the glow on his face and the sparkle in his eyes, I could tell he was in a good place. He moved like he was floating, or about to burst into some dance moves. It made me smile just seeing him like that.
Now he and Tiresias had a good life together. And if I felt a little sad about having one foot out the door just when things were getting better, hey, that wasn’t my mom’s or Tir’s fault. They did everything they could to include me. Besides, I wanted to go to college. If I had to choose between being with Nausicaa and . . . well, anything, that was no choice at all.
Tiresias dropped a clove of garlic into the wok, which sizzled and steamed like a sneezing dragon. (And yes, I’ve seen dragons sneeze.) “I think we are ready, milady.”
“Incoming.” Nausicaa dumped the stir-fry mixture into the oil just as our doorbell rang.
“I’ll get it,” I said, and ran to let in our fifth for dinner.
As soon as I opened the door, Roselio shoved a basket of fruit into my hands. “I brought strawberries.” He blinked. “Is that tofu stir-fry?”
Osiris had followed behind him.
“Hello to you, too,” I said.
“I love tofu stir-fry!” Roselio trotted around me and made a beeline for the kitchen, because Roselio knows what’s good.
My best friend had allowed his appearance to go a little wild, which is saying something…
He wore his standard orange Camp Half-Blood shirt, and still used specially fitted tennis shoes for some reason, noisy and hard for the Mist to cover up. I guess the explanation “athleisurewear plus tap-dancing shoes” didn’t work so well.
My mom hugged Roselio and gushed over the basket of strawberries as I put them on the kitchen counter.
“They smell wonderful!” He said. “Perfect dessert!”
“Last crop of the summer,” Roselio said wistfully.
He gave me a sad smile, like he was ruminating about how this had been my last summer at camp as well. Once we graduate high school, if we live that long, most of us transition out into the regular world. The thinking is that by then, we are strong enough to fend for ourselves, and monsters tend to leave us alone because we’re no longer such easy targets. That’s the theory, anyway. . . .
“Now we have to get ready for gourd season,” Roselio continued with a sigh. “Don’t get me wrong. I love decorative gourds, but they’re not as tasty.”
My mom patted his shoulder. “We’ll make sure these berries don’t go to waste.”
The rice cooker chimed just as Tiresias turned off the burner on the stovetop and gave the steaming wok one last stir. “Who’s hungry?”
Everything tastes better when you’re eating with people you love. I remember each meal my friends and I shared in the galley on board the Argo II—even if we were mostly just chowing down on junk food between life-and-death battles. These days, at home, I tried to savor every dinner with my mom and Tir.
I spent most of my childhood moving from boarding school to boarding school, so I never had the whole family-dinner thing growing up. The few times I was home supper together had never been appealing. The only thing worse
My mom did her best. Everything she did was to protect me, every rough past just made me appreciate these times even more.
We talked about my mom’s writing. After years of dreaming and struggling, his first novel was going to be published in the spring. He hadn’t made much money on the deal, but hey, a publisher had actually paid him for his writing! He was presently wavering between elation and extreme anxiety about what would happen when his book came out.
Finally, I filled in Roselio and Osiris about my first day at school, and the three recommendation letters I was supposed to get from the gods.
A look of panic flashed across Osiris’ face, but he suppressed it quickly. He sat up straighter. “Well then, we’ll do these quests together!”
Roselio scooted back in his chair, “I’m.. good. I just wanna cook.”
“Dude-”
“Pleaseee-”
“Fine. But we’re telling you everything.” Osiris grinned.
I tried not to show how relieved I was deep down. “Os, you don’t have to—”
“Are you kidding?” He grinned at Nausicaa. “A chance to do quests, just the three of us?”
“The Powerpuff Girls,” Nausicaa suggested.
“Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey,” I said.
“Wait a minute,” Osiris said.
“I’m fine with this,” Nausicaa said.
Tiresias raised his glass. “The monsters will never know what hit them. Just be careful, you three.”
“Oh, it’ll be fine,” Roselio said, though his left eye twitched. “Besides, it always takes a while for word to get around among the gods. They’ve probably got weeks before the first request comes in!”
*screams* I LOVE THIS SO MUCH 😭😭😭😭

Preface: this is only in the body and not in tags because it’s difficult to format it in tags, it’s not meant to be read as more important than tags if you don’t want to, I’m just thinking out loud.
Seeing so many different takes on this in the notes — Some people arguing that disability will be negatively impacted by having accessibility aids taken away. Dyslexia and related conditions. Valid concerns. While I think it’s possible to accommodate that— I never knew a teacher to ever deduct more than half a mark on an entire test (overall) for bad handwriting or spelling, it’s possible to do away with deductions for these small things outside of like, grade 5 entirely. If teachers in my classes of 54 kids could do it in the 2010s, it’s possible to do it now too.
I’ve never liked nor understood mathematics on a computer. None of the symbols you need are available, rough work is impossible to do for calculations, it makes everything so messy. Same goes for physics, and chemistry formatting was also an absolute bitch digitally. That’s where pen/pencil and paper were absolutely needed. Even today, I prefer to do any non-text work by hand because what do you know! Tablets with pencils are still really expensive!
But on the other hand, writing for long hours was an absolute pain— many of us were worried that 3-hour long exams with long-format answers would actually give us some sort of wrist injury. I switched from playing the guitar righthanded (pressing the strings with your left hand) to playing the other way round, because after getting home from a 7h long school day my left (writing) hand could not take applying pressure while practising the guitar. As someone who’s job is coding on a computer and like dragging windows and spreadsheets, I do worry about things like carpal tunnel, though I still feel my hands are less stressed than when writing with a pen over 6 hours and really fast. I had to change how I write entirely to reduce finger and wrist stress.
Unless you (as the last person said) want to get rid of homework entirely and have kids do their work in front of you, writing won’t really reduce AI cheating. A kid on a time crunch will choose to handwrite an essay they got chat gpt to write for them than sit and take the precious time when late to come up with the contents and structure their arguments themselves. This is not me advocating for AI, but telling you that this is what I saw in my final years, which was just as AI was beginning to take off amongst university students.
You know how you tackle that? You teach your students time management. Facilitate their essay writing process in stages. Set smaller milestones that they need to meet. Professors who broke up a large assignment into smaller bits with incremental deadlines took SO much stress off my shoulders compared than ones who just assigned you one fuckoff-giant project and left you to flail. I built a whole compiler within a 3 month semester, and it was the least stressful project I’ve ever done because we had smaller and well-structured deadlines every two weeks that also helped us really understand the architecture of a compiler and helped me think through the process of building one.
And I know, some people will say ‘if university students in their 20s need to be taught basic things like time management then we’re all doomed’, but what else are you trying to teach kids when you get into the argument about whether AI helps or hinders? The material they need is mostly available either online or now easily structured through AI. You’re teaching them how to think about things, structure their ideas, put together larger pieces of work incrementally; doesn’t that also include teaching them how to spread out and structure their work? It’s literally what workplaces would call ‘project management.’
Teach them that, and a lot of things they may have previously been intimidated by and felt unable to start (you know when something’s so vast you don’t know where to start and just freeze instead?), they will all fall into place and make sense, and allow your students not only to begin their work, but to know how to break down bigger problems in future and also how to set themselves milestones to keep track of their (/their teams’) progress themselves. What do I know.
An ex-colleague of mine was complaining to me the other day about the ai problem in her students' papers, and I told her, "Just make your students hand-write them in class. Easy." She looked at me like I was insane and tried to explain how that would never work, but I just said,"That's how we did it for a thousand years. The invention of word processors doesn't erase all that."
To me it seems obvious. Readings are done out of class, handwritten essays are done within it. No more ai papers.

My professor seems to think it’s cool to build her own little tyrannical empire. And the wild part? She’s not even my advisor. But still, we’ve all been like genies to her. Every damn time she rubbed her phone, we showed up —bowing, whispering “your wish is our command.”
Tumblr media
I’m about to go on a full rant; proceed with caution, and bear with me.
So far this semester, she’s had every single one of us prepare an 80-page presentation on a specific empire, with every architectural detail included. Then write an entire essay. Then get it published. Then do a 50×70 data sheet analysis using intertextuality as a research method. Then prepare another 50 pages; this one filled with tables detailing every single king and queen of that empire in all aspects, with references cited in each cell. And that’s not even all of it.
Just two days ago, she hit us with a new task with a one-day deadline: write a one-page research paper explaining what historical thought is and how it relates to architecture. 500 words with references. Like, okay, sure. That sounds cool. But maybe for someone who chose her as their advisor. Maybe for someone whose thesis has something to do with history.
But for the rest of us? For those of us who already have an advisor? Who already picked a thesis topic that has nothing to do with her field?
This isn’t helpful. This is a burden. As if we don’t already have two other lessons that demand our constant attention. As if we’re not in the middle of preparing our proposals; a process that’s already stressful and time-consuming enough.
Her course is a 3-unit class (and should have a reasonable expected workload, typically somewhere around 6–9 hours per week) but we’ve worked harder than anyone would in a 300-unit class. Sounds like a full-time job, doesn’t it?! And for what? To satisfy course assignments. Sorry. That’s educational performance, not education.
Wanna hear the best part?
She’s pretending like we don’t know she’s writing a thick, shiny book —built on the backs of all the data we’ve gathered and analyzed for her. Every slide, every table, every citation… all gift-wrapped by us!
*takes a deep breath*
Honestly? All of us are cursing her under our breath and she knows it. And let’s be real, if your intentions are selfish and shady, I don’t care how much work you do, it’s not gonna mean a damn thing. Nothing built on bad energy ever lasts.
Good, meaningful work doesn’t come from squeezing people dry or flexing your power. It comes from respect. From basic human decency. Not manipulation, not pressure and definitely not turning students into your personal research farm.
I’m sorry, Professor —with all due respect— this isn’t academic rigor. These excessive demands don’t serve students’ actual goals. There’s a line between pushing students to grow and using them as 24/7 research assistants or ego-boosters. We are overworked for content that benefits you more than our learning journey.
*squints in skepticism*
This is Contemporary Academic Slavery.
.
*sighs* anyways…
By the end of this week, my two other exams will be done. So will my first year of PhD. ✨

blog/vent: today was productive?
i started off my day pretty good, i did some morning stretches, did my makeup, woke up early, made sure i was confident and then i went to skewl
school was alright, i wrote a timed essay, worked on my credit recovery which is super dumb btw, i hate it
i hatehatehate credit recovery, it isn't even a class i failed its just a class i never took that they JUST fixed
the school system is always fucking me sideways (ᗒᗣᗕ)՞
i did some stuff for my management class and joked around with some of my tablemates, quietly though bc that teacher was mad, my friend had one of those bubble blowing thingies, the ones with carcinogens and the straws, that was fun :3
then L and i went home and i went on a walk with my dog, when i got back home again i studied. i think i got a solid 2 1/2 hours of studying in which was SWEET !!! im so proud of myself, i finished my math assignment, studied for the test, did some of my AP english work and felt pretty good after. i felt like an egotistical freak though which was a high i had no idea existed but im not really complaining bc it felt so good ψ( ` ∇ ´ )ψ
after, i called L and we had a nice conversation up until she brought up colleges. im all for college but ive been having a lot of issues with it lately. ive been trying to ignore it but i just cant help feeling awful about it.
i applied for 5 colleges and 2 accepted me and 1 rejected me. my dream college rejected me. i was really shaken up and i felt so awful, i cried for like an hour. i felt like crap but i decided to ignore it and pretend like it didnt happen but im starting to come to terms with the reality that im running out of time.
the two other colleges that were my big backups havent even contacted me and im losing all hope. i dont even have a student portal for one of them. i feel so awful, they were supposed to be in my target range too, they were supposed to be easy for me to get into, even with my old GPA. i feel really shitty, the fact that i couldnt even get into the schools that were supposed to be easy for me just really really sucks.
i wanna get into a college where i can get a good education because architecture is NOT easy. its so much work and i wanna be able to get a good education for it. i wanna be able to have a good career and know a lot about it.
i KNOW what i want for myself. i KNOW ive been working hard but no one is gonna see it now. no one looks at senior year grades and it feels so awful.
L also said shes considering going to another college and i really wanted to go to the same college as her :(
i really wanted to start another school year with her and it just feels so unfair. things are really starting to suck again and all i can do is keep working harder and harder because ive come too far to stop now
it feels like im putting in twice as much work and effort for so much little results
Tumblr media
sorry for venting so long, i just felt so good and now i feel really really crappy :(
college stuff is really kicking my butt

How can students find the best online help with their Java assignments?
Tumblr media
An object-oriented programming language is Java. Oracle is the owner of this software, which was developed in 1995 and is used by programmers to create or design programs for desktop computers, laptops, and mobile devices. C and C++ are the programming languages that served as the inspiration for its syntax. Also, it is compatible with a variety of operating systems, including Windows, Mac, Linux, and others. Because of how easy it is to use and how straightforward it is, there is a significant demand for it in the market. Programmers are able to reuse these elements the majority of the time since they provide a clear design for the programs. Coders create Java programs by writing them in ordinary text files that have an extension for Java. It is risk-free and easy to maintain properly. There is always the option to seek assistance from an essay helper online if you are having difficulty with your assignments. As a result of the continued growth of e-commerce, the use of applications based on Java has skyrocketed to an unprecedented degree. Java programming languages are involved in the development of a wide variety of popular applications for mobile devices. Get to new heights with the assistance of skilled Java programming assignment help online. Java Programming offers a Wide Range of Features Java is a programming language that first existed as a covert project. It was a collaborative effort between Bill Joy, James Gosling, Mike Sheridan, and Patrick Naughton, who all worked on it. This language was developed to ensure that processes go smoothly. Here are some of its functions: Programming that is not object-oriented There are classes and objects used in the writing of this document. Take, for example, An object is a term that refers to a thing that is responsible for representing reality. A vehicle, such as a car or a bike, is an entity; it possesses forms that can be distinguished from one another based on factors such as colour, size, brand, or model. The term "class" refers to a collection of items that share characteristics in common. For instance, Maruti, Volkswagen, and Hyundai are all automobile manufacturers despite the fact that they are all different brands. Totally independent platform A software or hardware platform is the environment in which a program executes. It is possible to use Java on every platform since it is compatible with any setup. Java is a sort of programming language. In addition to this, its source code is compiled into bytecode, and it is not attached to any particular architecture. A Simple Layout In order to prevent any complications, Java was intended to have a relatively straightforward format. With the intention of reducing the amount of storage space required for any significant software or programs, Lavasoft's objective was to develop a straightforward application that devices may utilize. You will be able to construct an entire application online with the assistance of an essay helper. Secure and risk-free Unsecured systems are susceptible to a variety of threats, including viruses, eavesdropping, manipulation, and impersonation, all of which have the potential to inflict harm. The Java programming language, on the other hand, contributes to the system's security by assisting in the encryption and decryption of data. Without regard to architecture, language The binary coding format that Java employs is independent. It does not have any limitations in terms of the architecture of the hardware, the operating systems, or Windows. Java also has a fixed size for the primitive type, which is another feature of the language. High-quality software Java is a sturdy program because it has a number of properties, one of which is the ability to handle exceptions. In the event that there is an exception, there will be no adverse effects, including the loss of data. Within low-level programming languages, the entire program is unable to function correctly. Programs with multiple threads In computer programming, the term "multithreading" refers to the simultaneous execution of two or more processes. For example, one thread may be typing in order to search for a subject on a web browser, while another thread may be working in order to get the information. Using Java, an application can be executed more efficiently with many threads. Computing on a distributed basis You can execute distributed apps with Java's assistance. For this particular reason, RMI and EJB are used. This makes it easier for computers to communicate with one another. One of its valuable functions is that it enables users to access any program on any system whatsoever. Dynamic binding In the field of programming, the term "dynamic binding" refers to the situation in which the parent and child classes of a specific program have overriding and derived classes have the same method. The best assignment helper to do well in academics Programming assignment help online services comprise a team of highly skilled programmers who have degrees in computer science and years of expertise in academic writing. These programmers are specialists in the field. Freelancers and in-house programmers are both involved in the academic assistance process for their tasks. When it comes to Java programming projects, students have the opportunity to read evaluations that have demonstrated their ability. It is the team that secures success, primarily due to the fact that they offer the projects with correct information and content. When it comes to creating Java assignments, students deal with a number of hurdles. The study of Java is a complex topic. In order to become proficient Java programmers, students need to put in a lot of practice and study a lot. In order to complete their Java assignments, a student requires assistance because it is challenging to meet deadlines and compose assignments that are free of errors. A number of obligations, including attending lectures, seminars, internships, and performing a variety of tasks, bind them to a variety of commitments. This is because Java is a programming language. As a result, the assignments comprise both theoretical and practical aspects of the subject matter. Scholars are required to develop and operate a program, which might be a challenging assignment for them to do due to the fact that in order to design a program, they need to have competence in programming. Reasons why students require assistance with their homework Students must become proficient in coding in order to develop a flawless application. Because they lack the information necessary, they are unable to accomplish this. As a result, students need the support of professionals in order to achieve success in their examinations. In some instances, students tend to approach things carelessly, or they get themselves into some unexpected circumstances. A consequence of this is that students get behind in their assignments and are unable to finish them on time; hence, the only answer is to seek assistance with their Java programming assignments online. Despite the fact that Java is considered to be a straightforward programming language, students may find it challenging to understand the grammar construction. In order to find a solution to this problem, they require assistance with their Java homework. The process of writing entirely original Java applications is not simple for a scholar. In light of the fact that they have committed plagiarism, they cannot afford to have their grades taken away. Therefore, in order to guarantee originality, they seek aid from specialists. To achieve success in programming, students need to put in a lot of practice. Deficiency, which results in programs that are not flawless. It takes time for scholars to refine their talents. Therefore, in order for them to succeed in their tests, they require assistance with their Java assignments. This week I've been busy working on my assignments, finishing a research essay for Physical Geography and finishing one for Introduction to Aboriginal Studies. In this research essay I had to analyse and discuss the effects of colonisation on First Nation Australian peoples through the analysis of Yothu Yindi's international hit, Treaty. By exploring the lyrics, I discussed its meaning and relationship to the concept of treaty in Australia, all the while linking back to the effects of colonisation.
For Physical Geography, the essay focused on a specific natural geological hazard or disaster - discussing the impacts of the hazard or disaster, the underlying geological processes that led to the hazard or disaster, and future prevention, remediation or amelioration actions. I chose to focus on the 2011 Christchurch earthquake, but particularly focusing on the residential red zones, where thousands were evicted from their homes due to the land where they lived on was affected by liquefaction. Although a decade has passed, those areas are still not deemed liveable, but instead of the previous approach of taming nature as they did in the past, the country has now opted to actively assist and thoughtfully guide natural processes. This has been translated into the concept of 'The Green Spine,' a long stretch of native bush connecting the central city of Christchurch to the sea. The development is geared towards fostering a sense of community stewardship towards the area, offering recreational amenities to the residents, enhancing the environmental and ecological wellbeing of the land, and facilitating the testing of new and innovative approaches to adapting to climate change on the land. I can't help but gravitate towards landscape architecture design problems and projects, even in these assignments.
