#As I said I'll do Nancy and Steve later.

Your perspective on Byler is super interesting, thank you for these posts! I agree that Byler isn't queerbaiting, but what if it's still an accident in the sense that they intended to tell a story of unrequited love from Will's pov (like Steve/Nancy, or Dustin/Max in season 2), and this is what those shots of Will between Mike and El are for, and didn't realize that Mike could be seen by a part of the audience as queer and possibly loving Will back?
Okay, for the most part, I'd just be reiterating the post I already made. So let's narrow this down to something more specific. Why is it not like Steve and Nancy or Max and Dustin?
Let's look at Max and Dustin first. I'll make a post about Steve and Nancy later because this wound up being longer than I meant for it to be.
What first comes to mind with Max and Dustin is the moment it really ended. When Dustin saw Lucas and Max together in the junkyard. If Dustin and Max were similar to Mike and Will, parallel to them, then the moment Dustin saw Lucas and Max together in the junkyard would be the same beat in their stories to the moment Mike and El reunited in the desert.
However, take a look at how they're shot.
Tumblr media
This, versus
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This.
And, just as important...
Tumblr media
This scene.
Tumblr media
AND this scene.
As I said in my first post, the reunion scene is shot that way--with Will making direct fucking contact with the camera--because he's supposed to be the one you're paying attention to in that scene. Not El and Mike.
Likewise, you're supposed to be paying attention to Dustin's feelings in the shot where he's watching Lucas and Max, but you'll notice some key differences.
One, Lucas and Max arriving together is shot as significant, as the focus, before it shifts to Dustin's reaction, instead of Dustin's reaction being shoved INTO their arrival. There's an over-the-shoulder shot to show that he (and Steve) have noticed Lucas and Max arriving, but the focus is still on Lucas and Max, reiterating what the audience already knew, that they're blatantly going to be The Couple, as was made pretty clear by their previous scenes, which brings me to the next point.
Their previous scenes. Their previous scenes. Lucas and Max had previous scenes leading up to that moment in the junkyard. THOSE--Lucas filling Max in, showing up at her house, convincing her to sneak out so that he can prove that everything he's been telling her is true and winning her trust, and Max giving him at least that much benefit of the doubt--were the real equivalent to El and Mike reuniting in the desert (isolated from Will). You want the audience to care about a couple? This is what you do. You give them private moments. And I was truly remiss in my first post not to point out that...Jonathan and Argyle were also there. So was fucking Brenner. Why didn't we see them? Why was the scene shot in such a way that you briefly forgot their existence but Will Byers was staring into your soul? You know why.
Getting back on topic, the final piece of the puzzle here is the scene that followed Dustin accepting that Max liked Lucas and not him. Once more, Lucas and Max have a private, tender scene. Emphasis on private. Once more, we get them alone. They talk, get everything they have to say out in the open, and only once the conversation comes to a lull does the story move on.
You know what the equivalent scene would be for Mike and El? Well, you've got one of two options, and neither is great for them.
First, you have Mike in that scene where he makes the glasses and he starts to say something to El but immediately gets interrupted by Argyle throwing pizza on the table, ker-splat.
And second, you have the infamous "I love you" scene. Which they are emphatically not alone in. Famously, Will starts that conversation in the first place, and his face is hovering over Mike's shoulder the whole damn time. (Again, this could have been shot in ways that made us forget he existed for a little while, and the show decided not to do that.) But, I really must impress the importance of this...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
EL. AND MIKE. WERE NOT. EVEN. IN. THE SAME SCENE. AT ALL.
They weren't even in the same place! Not consciously, at least! Sometimes the camera would show El on the counter and it'd be, like, the tip of her nose and a little bit of her brow, but that does not count. That's like showing the phone in a phone call. Her body is basically an inanimate object that only allows verbal communication at this point. Then who was phone? EL WAS PHONE.
Okay, outdated memes aside, my point is that this is not how romantic scenes work. There are things missing, things wrong, and things very present in places where they should be absent. And the creators clearly know this because those are the rules they've laid out before and the path they've followed since. Mike and El never had any private, intimate, romantic scenes in season 4, despite having them earlier in the show. This is carving out the trajectory of their relationship moving forward. It is a vector, it has direction and force, and it is going straight toward the bitter end.
So I guess this is mostly about why El and Mike aren't happening than why Will and Mike are. Which is only part of the equation, true enough. To play devil's advocate here, maybe it's possible that the result is that El goes on to be happily single because there's so much more to life than stupid boys, Mike lets go, and Will pines for the rest of his days. Sure, whatever. Possibility, I guess.
One thing, though.
You wanna know who did have private, intimate scenes before and after the desert reunion?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ya bois Michael Wheeler and William Byers, that's who.
Edit: I meant to say one more thing that I'm just realizing I forgot to mention. Dustin's face while he was watching Max and Lucas was clearly visible while Will's is not. We can see HIM, but not his FACE. This is like placing a wrapped box in the middle of the kitchen table and saying "Do Not Open Until Xmas". We're gonna unwrap that later.

Part 1
Part 3
Part two to the roommates idea
Whenever the mall ‘burns down’, Eddie is just chilling at home; not doing anything special.
Actually, thats a complete lie. He hadn't seen Steve since he left for his shift the day before, and currently has his band+Wayne scattered in the living room as he paces.
“He may as well be dead, he always calls before staying the night somewhere, and he totally despises that place, so why would he stay after hours?” He comes to a halt infront of Jeff who looks considering. “What?!"
“Maybe, consider, he just forgot to call you." Eddie scoffed, “ ‘Maybe he just forgot’, except you don't know him, Jeff. Steve doesn't forget, tell ‘em Wayne."
Wayne nods from his spot on the lazyboy, “ ‘S true, he'd rather call at 2am than have us worrying.”
Gareth rolls his eyes, “Look Edmund, I get your worried about you boyfriend and all but why did we have to get dragged into this?" He complained, and Eddie began pacing again.
“ Not,my boyfriend, yet, and you’re getting-”
A ringing interrupts him.
The pacing stopped almost as soon as it began, and he darts to the phone. “ Y’hello, it's Eddie talking.” A sharp breath drew from the other end of the line.
“Hey Eds."
Eddie smiled, “Holy shit, Stevie. I thought you died. Wayne and the guys are literally gathered in the living room.” Upon hearing the name, Wayne visibly relaxed, going from hunched over to leaning backwards in seconds.
“Yeah I'm- Well shit not okay but I'm not dead.”In the background there was a noise, barely noticeable but-
“Wait, what? Are those sirens? Are you hurt? What the hell-” Wayne leaned forward again.
“I'm at the mall, there's been, uh, an accident? I don't- they took my keys, I need a ride back home.”
“Who took your keys? Steve you can't just be all ominous and-” The phone line shut off. "Fuck!”
Grant, who hasn't been helpful at all, stood up. "What did he do?”
Eddie groans, running a hand through his greasy hair, “Needs us to pick him up, might be hurt. He's such a- Wayne we're taking my van, you guys coming?”
Turns out the answer is yes.
-
They arrive at the mall five minutes later, mostly because Eddie was driving like a bat outta hell, to every emergency vehicle you can think of, plus thirty more, surrounding the place.
Eddie roles his window down when a cop signals him. “What are you doing over here?"
The metalhead bites his lip, what the hell, “Uh, I'm here to pick up Steve Harrington? He got involved in whatever's happening.”
The cops nods, "Alright, park your vehicle over there, and go get him.”
He does as he's told, a surprising feat showing just how scared he was, because Steve being hurt could mean so many things.
They get out the car, Wayne being the leading man, and head to where the commotion is.
The mall was totally destroyed, a couple kids he didn't know were sitting around, surrounded by their parents, there's a couple teens too, Nancy Wheeler, Johnny Byers, a girl in a sailor costume, and-
Eddie’s heart stopped and he fucking sped forward. “ Holy shit, what the fuck man." Steve looked like hell, understatement of the century but-
His face was bruised and bloody, his hands wrapped in casts, his hair was flat and gross and he was still in his damn sailor costume.
“Hey Munsons, Gareth, Jeff, Grant. It's the whole Scooby gang, or Smurfs, whoever you prefer.” Eddie grabbed his shoulders, and stared him dead in the eye. “ What. The. Fuck. Are you high too?!”
“Just what the hell did you get yourself into. " Wayne said more than asked, shaking his head.
Steve buzzed his lips, his eyebrows furrowed and he brought a hand to them and-
God they were split, and bleeding now. He looked back up at the long haired man infront of him, ignoring Wayne's question-not-question.
“Nah, just recovering from being drugged. Hey this is rivveting conversation and shit, but like, I wanna go home and sleep in your bed, man. Or the couch, or the floor.”
He let out a loud laugh, “Fuck I am not picky right now, I'll even take the back of the van.”
“Christ."
-
They don't talk about it, not after Hellfire goes home, not the next morning, not after Steve heals. They just don't, because the news told them all they need to know, that there was a fire. Eddie just assumed when they said he was drugged, that he meant medically.
(He didn't)

Deeper for You
Summary: (5.1 k) It's your annual beach trip with the crew from Hawkins, something you've all been doing together your whole adult life after life forced everyone to part ways. You're all close, but this year, an accidental encounter in the outdoor shower makes you get a little closer with one person in particular.
This is self indulgence at its finest. Fresh off my last week at the beach this summer, I needed a little Beach Steve in my life to tide me over.
Steve x Reader, NSFW 18+ Accidental exposure, friends to lovers, breast play, female oral, fingering, dirty talk encouraged, a little orgasm denial, maybe a spank and unprotected intercourse in the shower.
Crystal water. Crystal skies. Beach chairs circled around umbrellas and coolers. Crisp beers slipped in aging koozies and passed around like old times. You and your friends have been doing this for years. Ever since goals and lives and even some wives have taken the group here and there, Nancy started organizing this annual beach trip for the group from Hawkins. Years and miles have nothing on deep seeded trauma, she said once, in a too cheerful voice despite it's truth.
The heat of the sand between your toes and the smell of suntan lotion have become a comfort to you, just knowing you're back there with your closest friends. As you all creep closer to thirty than you'd like, this week never fails to make you feel nostalgic, youthful and forget all of your problems because it never feels like an ounce of time has passed with any of these people.
This year Nancy had to upgrade the rental - more rooms for yet another married couple in the mix, Eddie adding a wife - a little too sweet but just enough sass for him - into the fold. It was your first time meeting her, really meeting her, because no bride has the time for new friendship on their wedding weekend, and you've had such a nice week spending time with her. Chairs in the sand by the waterline together with a book most afternoons, leaving the raucous energy that comes after some morning beers as background noise to your fantasies.
"What are you two ladies reading over here anyway" Steve pokes at your shoulder on his way down to the water to cool off.
"They're fantasy novels, Steve. Naughty books, if you must know." You tease back, Eddies wife blushing beside you at your brazen honestly.
"Naughty books? Like love stories where they kiss and share a bed?"
"No Steve, like '... And then she felt the tips of his finger circle her clit before toying with her folds and the wetness pooling between her thighs. Edging her, pulling her closer but never giving her cunt what she really wants'" you read in an exaggerated and breathy voice direct from your page, picking up right where you left off. "That, Steve, is Naughty Books. "
"Shit. Okay. Well I'll leave you two to it, then. What the fuck." and he trots off into the waves. Sunkissed skin a perfect contrast to the white, foaming waves he's now floating in.
"So, that… you guys have a thing before or something?" Eddie's wife asks softly. So sweet, you can't even be mad at her for it.
"Steve?" You laugh, "No-no no. Just go way back "
"Oh I'm so sorry" she squeaks out, "I just thought… I mean you guys. Nevermind."
"Don't worry about it. We're all a little too close for comfort sometimes. I get it. We just have always gave each other shit as long as I've known him, that's all."
Later that night, the whole group gathers in the back of the house around a huge built in fire pit, all taking turns sharing, giving updates about life and work and families.
Late nights have been happening all week around this pit, but tonight is cool, and the Sangria Robin and Max mixed up is keeping you chilled.
"Hey, honey. You finally quit or do you want to join us over here?" Steve calls over to you, beckoning to the group of smokers over on the bench seat to the left of the fire.
"Every time I try… someone like you offers me a smoke and here I am again." You shrug as you lean over to snag the pack of cigarettes from Steve's outstretched hand before taking a seat. You slide out a slim cigarette and pull the lighter from it's spot in the back, lighting up and passing it back, kicking your feet out on the coffee table in front.
"Someone like Steve, what's that supposed to mean? You hurling insults again?" Johnathan teases.
"No, no. Byers, shut the fuck up. Lemme enjoy this sweet nicotine with my friends in peace, okay?" You roll your eyes, not actually knowing what you meant either, before shooting a look at Max sitting with the group. "Since when did you sit on the smokers bench? Huh?"
"Don't start with me mom. You've tried to quit four times a year for the past 10 years, so I don't even wanna hear it from you." The redhead sasses back.
Such a beautiful, self assured young women she's grown into, despite having such poor eyesight from…everything that happened…you have always had a soft spot for Max, and she for you. The glasses she wears are thick, despite years of corrective surgeries, but they don't take an ounce away from how lovely she's grown to be.
"Yeah yeah, just shut up and enjoy it. I bet Lucas hates it. Doesn't he? Goodie two shoes." You quip back and Max giggles in agreement, both of you taking a long drag as a follow up.
"You two man-eaters are trouble." Steve jabs.
"Excuse me, man-eaters? The one who has been dating the same guy since middle school and me, who goes on what, maybe 4 dates all year? Yeah total man-eaters, Steve."
After finishing your smokes, you all rejoin the group, playing dollar games of cards and dice, laughing the night away at bad luck and bad jokes. El has been banished to watching over participating and when Eddie's wife asks why, the mutters and mumbling of a wide variety of excuses poured out.
"It's uh - against her religion!" straight from Dustin's mouth won out, mostly because it was the loudest. So now you're all pretending El is Muslim, and that's definitely not going to last the rest of the week.
It's nearing two am as you pad up the stairs, pockets 10 dollars deeper, sand still clinging to your feet just barely and Steve's button up on your shoulders from when he passed it to you to quell your chill. Just like every other night of the trip, you sleep like a baby, tucked in a soft mattress with softer sheets and the blanket of a decent buzz still coursing through your bloodstream.
The next day is the last on the shore and after a late start and breakfast cooked up by Nancy and Johnathan to sop up the hangovers the day goes on much like the rest before it. Relaxing in beach chairs and blankets, music softly humming from a boom box in the shade of the umbrella, balls being tossed in a friendly game of touch football in the loose sand by the dunes.
The tide was rough today and swept you and Eddie's girl away on your chairs once before you slipped your books back in your beach bag and decided if you can't beat it, join it. Frolicking in the waves together, the rest of the group is shortly behind you joining in.
It's not five minutes until Eddie is tackling his wife into the crashing waves, rolling her dramatically in the lapping waves and sand. Max and El are jumping through crashing waves, hand in hand trying to make it past the crest and to where it is calm. Some of the boys are sitting in the sand watching and enjoying the cool breeze you catch when you're closer to the sea.
You, well, you were enjoying yourself wholeheartedly. That is until you're making your way back to shore and a huge wave creeps up behind you and slams you to the ground. Water currents tossing you around a bit like a ragdoll, it's a moment before strong arms pull you up and out, wiping your hair out of your face and brushing the wet globs of sand off you as you regroup. It's Steve who's got you and brings you back to shore, where you flop down on the sand together and burst out in laughter after you're both sure that you're alright, making it even harder to catch your breath.
The day at the beach was way more sandy than usual because of it all, sitting in the sand, being thrown around by gritty waves and soupy sand finding it's way intermingling with your bathing suit. You just can't wait till the end of the day to shower and hose off, so you dip away to hop in the rinse shower along the side of the property. Door swung shut, you run the water cold so it's as refreshing as it is a welcome rinse to your body where the sand is sticking and scratches.
Hair slicked back by the cool droplets, you're realizing quickly that a simple rinse won't rid your swimsuit of all of the caked in sand. Maneuvering your emerald green one piece to shake free the grit of the ocean, you're making progress as you drop your wide set straps off your shoulders and start working out the sand from your upper half.
It's just then that Steve must have had the same idea, and he's traipsing through the door of the shower himself, only to find you, strap down, left breast fully exposed, tan lines of your right crisp and leaving nothing to the imagination the way the suit is bunching down, and your hands coaxing the water over them from the low pressure showerhead to work off the sand.
"Holy fuck!" You both yell at the same time.
Yours an exclamation. A "Holy FUCK!" A barked out reaction to the surprise. The admonishment of your friend who doesn't seem to pay a goddamn mind to anything going on around him or he would have heard the shower tap on and running when he approached.
But his… Well, his was a statement. A "Holy. Fuck." Drawn out. A deep and gravely comment made to acknowledge the surprise he's found. More of an interest than an intrusion.
So when you reached to cover yourself and hide from embarrassment as a knee jerk reaction, he didn't make quite as quick a move to leave you be. He lingered, just enough for you to notice and under his breath whispered out again "Holy fuck."
Adequately covered, or at least enough that you can feel functional at this point, you look at him to quip "Are you just gonna stare or what?" And you expect him to snap out of his titty haze and leave you be to shake out the rest of your sand trap, but he doesn't.
Instead he asks, "Well, is that an invitation?"
Your eyes narrow at him, and he shrugs in reaction. "You can't be serious, Steve. Get outta here."
"I save you, and this is the thanks I get?" He teases, and you can't help but see how his eyes, blown out and black, don't move from your body when he says it.
"Steve." You say, quietly.
"Yeah?"
"I can thank you later." comes out just above a whisper.
"I think I'd rather you thanked me now."
When you don't argue back, or say anything for that matter, he takes that as enough of an answer as he needs. He knows you, and he knows that you have no problem telling someone to take a hike, so if you're not yelling at him like he's a small boy who got his hand caught in the cookie jar, he knows you're inviting him to take a bite.
So he's inside the shower quicker than your mind can even catch up to what's happening. He's crowding your space and reaching backwards to do the one thing you forgot to do yourself, hook the damn lock. You're pretty sure this man hasn't moved his eyes from you since the moment the door opened and at this point, you're meeting his gaze.
A sweeping hand, under your ear and landing on the nape of your neck is what shakes you out of your daze and before you know it his lips are on yours. It's a bruising thing, the way he presses them into yours, pulling you closer still by where his hand is cupping your head with his broad hand. You come up for air just a second before he backs off and you find yourself, open mouthed and smiling into his lips, still pressing into you. "Fuck. Honey. I- you okay? With this? I don't wanna… "
"I know I tell you this all the time, but this is different. Steve, you fuckin talk too much. Shut. Up." You say, emphasizing your words with two little tugs to his own hair where your hands have snaked around, too.
And he takes this welcome advance as an opportunity to wrap his other hand around you, up and under your arm, resting at the center of your back. Pressing together, you're so close. Impossibly so, and every little tick of the hip or twitch of the lips can be felt by the other instantaneously. He's testing you out but getting bolder by the second when he experimentally rolls his hips just a bit before coaxing your legs a bit wider to slot his knee in between. You gasp out at the feeling of him against you and involuntarily find yourself rolling your cunt against his thigh.
"Ah-oh fuck. Shit. Steve." You squeak out, as you look down to see that he's tucked up his swim shorts high enough that your grinding on his exposed thigh. Bristly hair on his legs commingling with the scratch of the sand and sea salt on your own thighs.
"C'mon, honey. You came in here to get clean. Me too. Lemme help you, yeah? '
Nodding your permission, he gently slips his fingers under the still loose straps of your suit, coaxing them down further, fingers ghosting over your arms as he works them down.
You've been doing this trip for years, and you swear the last thing you ever thought would happen was having Steve fucking Harrington peeling off your wet swimsuit in the shower. "You sandy all over, huh? Me too. Gotta rinse you off." he says, as he's reaching up for the shower head, detaching it from its base and bringing it down in between the two of your chests. Holding it there for a moment, he seems to consider this whole thing for the first time. "You-your good, right? I mean, I trust you. Do you trust me? "
"Yeah Steve, I do." You say, pressing your forehead to his and blinking away droplets gathering on your eyelashes.
He pulls the rest of your swimsuit away from where it's suctioned on your tummy and works it down your body, dropping heavy and wet on the shower floor. Once it's out of his way, he's back on your lips, sucking in your bottom lip just as you feel the cool water hitting your clit. Steve moves the shower head gently but purposely around your whole cunt, paying attention to your sensitive bud between passes through your folds. "Gotta get you cleaned up, huh? Need you clean for me. For what I'm gonna do next." He teases and you moan at his words.
Not exactly sure what he has planned just yet, you let him keep working your pussy clean and with every second of the pulsing jets of water hitting your clit rhythmically. "Yeah, baby I think you're all set." He states, replacing the shower head where it belongs and reaching his free hand down to rub through your folds, checking to be sure you're comfortable and free of that pesky sand.
When he's met with yet another whimper he's immediately dropping to his knees on the wet planks of the shower floor "Can I please, please taste you. Please."
"I didn't take you as one to beg, Harrington." You whisper out the tease.
"I will for this - for you. God, would you just answer me?"
You look down at him and nod but he wants your words instead, commanding you to speak up. And so you do, you gasp out confirmation just as his lips latch on to your already sensitive clit. He suckles there a little bit, before moving to make his tongue wide and flat coaxing noises from you that he doesn't want to forget the sound of.
He throws your thigh over his shoulder, giving him deeper, more angled access to your cunt, working you, moving it in and left to right. You cry out as his nose nudges at your clit while he slips a finger in up to his second knuckle and the cry turns silent as he keeps up his ministrations. Droplets of water are tickling down your chest and stomach, soaking his hair and face where he stays tucked in between your thighs. He shakes his head back and forth tapping at your clit with his movement and making you see stars.
Adding in another finger, he keeps lapping at your pussy, taking breaks to nip at the place where your thighs meet your sex and back again. He licks off a trail of water along the seam of your leg before making his way back to your center. Scissoring his fingers, he groans right into you and the vibration of it all drives you wild. "God, you fuckin taste like heaven. So good." And he dives back in, running his wide tongue along your entrance, drawing it front and upward toward your clit.
This time he pauses and presses his tongue up into the base of your clit, holding it there just as he presses both long fingers up and into your spongy spot, freeing the most wanton sound yet from deep within your throat. It spurs him on to keep going, pulsing that tongue and stroking that spot within. You're tensing and shaking under his strong grip and soft tongue, leg still hiked high over him, water cascading around the both of you. You're tumbling over the edge quickly after that.
In a bit of a daze and with wobbly knees, you swing your leg back down off his shoulder and bring him up towards you by his ears, wanting to taste yourself on his tongue in ways you never have before, and he looks beautiful like that. Eyes wide and wanton, hair dripping wet down his hair spattered chest, jaw slack in his own lust and pleasure, lips a deep pink and swollen from working you up down there. You bring him up fully to meet your lips and groan into his mouth, your taste heady and salty and beachy.
"I think you're clean" he laughs out as he pulls back just slightly and you can't help but bark out a laugh back. He takes the opportunity to latch on to your neck and bites at the skin under your ear.
In that moment you decide you're not done with him.
Tugging at the ties of his swim trunks, Steve pulls back to look at you. "N-no, we don't have to."
You hear his words but you also feel the hardness underneath those trunks, "Steve, it's - it's no big deal. You started this. Let me… let's finish, yeah?" You eye him teasingly, eyebrows raised, "Something tells me you want to."
"You're a menace, you know that right? Always have been."
"Yeah, but you're into it, apparently." you stand on your tippy toes to whisper in his ear.
"Fuck. Fuck. Yeah." He gets out as you lick the water droplets up "Seeing you here every year. Highlight of my trip. Swear to God."
And as his soaked trunks hit the floor, the pair of you are both fully exposed standing under the running water together. Running your hand along his chest, playing with the tufts of hair there, you hook your finger though the thin chain hanging from his neck and pull him closer. "Steve." You whisper into his mouth.
"Yeah, whaddya need, honey?"
"You. God just, please fuck me. Okay?"
Clutching you close by the waist, he hikes your leg up and around his hip, reaching down along your ass to rub at your pussy from behind, working you up again. Almost teasing. The rock hard length of him is pressed up between your two tummies, begging to be paid attention to, so you break your bodies apart for just a second to angle him down, slipping if wetly between your lower lips - a mix of water and your hot dripping slick letting him slip through your folds.
A whimper slips out of your lips as his head catches your clit and he takes the opportunity to press into you, sounds something like a growl falling from his own lips at the feeling. Your mind is going blank, but the one thing you're sure of is that Steve Harrington's dick is huge. "Ohmigod, you're, bi- oh" you moan as he adds another few inches, moving slowly for you. "Fuck, you're huge. Jesus, Steve."
"Yeah? Biggest you ever had? God, tell me it's the biggest you've ever took."
"Shit" you hiss, as he bottoms out inside you, yelping out as you both finally meet at the base. "Yeah, shit. No one's ever been that fuckin deep, Steve. Holy shit."
"Fuck, yeah. I'm gonna move now, okay? You're good, right?" And you nod, enthusiastically. Almost too enthusiastically.
You've known Steve almost your whole life. You've played on playground swing sets growing up, rolled your eyes at his antics at your friends' parties in high school, cheered him on at basketball games and worked alongside him as lifeguards at the country club pool. You give him shit, he gives it back to you. You share comfortable silences and close friends. He's had your back in the face of monsters and raging fires… But right now, all that's on your mind is how he's pounding into your pussy in this shower and why this has never ever happened before in all these years. Because Jesus Christ, it's feeling euphoric.
The slapping of skin echoes loudly in the wooden and metal enclosure of the shower, bodies slick with water , hands gliding along your back and along your ass, keeping that knee hiked high for him, yours clutching the front of his shoulders and digging crescent moons into his skin. He's making noises, has he thrusts up into you at a bruising pace, hitting your cervix and making you cry out…but he's holding back all the same and all you want is him to let go a little more.
"Fuck, wait. Holy shit. Lemme just… " you drop your leg down and hear his small whine as he slips out of you, but you're quick to flip your body around, leaning forward and bracing yourself on the beams of the wooden door frame, shaking your ass at him in an invitation to get close to you again. "Wait. Wait… " you gasp out as you feel his tip nudge against your entrance from behind.
"What's wrong? Are you .. are you okay? I can stop." He gets out through heaving breaths.
"No. I'm good… but if you wanna finish me off, you gotta do one thing for me." Looking over your shoulder, giving him a playful but serious look.
"What'dya need. Honey. Anything. What do you want?" He holds his cock, pulsing and screaming to be let back inside your warm and velvety walls, dots of precome rinsed off by the droplets of water as fast as they emerge.
"Don't hold back. Just… .let me hear you. I wanna hear you. Talk to me. Don't shut up. And fuck - fuck me harder" you hiccup out.
"Yeah, yeah okay. I'll … I'll - fuck" he pushes in fully in one slide, no resistance from you in the least. "You wanna hear how good you make me feel huh? Always so cocky. Jesus."
His fingers are pressing into the tops of your thighs, purple mottled marks already blooming there under his fingertips as he pulls you backwards, spearing you on his cock, meeting him thrust for thrust. His other hand is wrapped around your waist, reaching for the soft of your belly, snaking up your chest until he finds your tits, nipples peaked with the chill of the air now that you're not directly under the stream of water. He runs his thumb along your nipples, giving them a playful flick back and forth before massaging them and pulling you up to meet him, back to chest.
In this position, you can drop yourself down as you meet his upward thrusts, bouncing on his cock and you feel his tip nudging a particular spot inside you that makes your walls constrict. "Oh honey, yeah? That's it. That's the spot isn't it?" And you can tell that has Steve's mind going off the deep end, making good on his promises to let you hear him, he's babbling, water splashing and raining down on you both, his grunts getting louder, and your name slipping off his lips in a whisper, like it belongs there.
Reaching back and around his neck, you turn so that you can see him and tilt his down to meet your gaze. Mouths both open, panting into one another, lips touching but never connecting because you can't quite sync up with the way you're both grinding on each other. "Jesus Christ, hnng fuck, I'm gonna… honey. Where do you want me? C'mon. Tell me."
You hear his sharp intake of a breath and feel his lips latch on to your throat, leaving sloppy kisses and sucking a bruise into it that you know you'll have to explain to your friends later. "Nnn-no. No. Not yet. I told you, lemme hear you. You're holding back I can tell."
"Oh-okay yeah. Gimme a sec. " He breathes through his nose taking in the scent of whatever vanilla soap you were using before he barreled in, maybe a little coconut still left over from your sunscreen, too. He exhales as his hand drifts down your front, settling over your mound and expertly finding your clit once again. He's rubbing figure eights, before sliding it between his two fingers, giving it pressure and pull from the sides as he continues to thrust into you from behind, bouncing you with very little effort because of how wet and slick you are from the shower.
"You're a fuckin' piece of work, you know that. Shit - taking me like this… fuck. " He growls out as he bends you forward fully now, holding you up by your chest as he rams into you. Leaning over just enough to get close to your ear he whispers in "Ya gonna let me come now? Fuck - ya gonna let me put it on your back? Huh? Your tits? Where do you wanna have it, honey?" He hisses as you grind your hips backwards and clench down hard on his shaft, squeezing on him and making his thrusts slow down, become more meticulous, more purposeful.
You're gasping in air and squeaking out noises of all kinds in time with his thrusts, telling him just how good he's making you feel between breaths. Just how deep he is hitting you. Just how much you wanna hear him when he comes. He's huffing out breaths and promising you things like next time as he's incoherently babbling praises at you as you ride back on his dick.
"You like when I talk about coming for you? You wanna have it, yeah?"
"Y-yeah I wanna. Inside. Do it inside, fuck!" You shout out, water from the showerhead beating on your back as his thrusts are jolting you forward where you're braced against the door. The janky little rusted metal latch holding on for dear life as he continues his pace, chasing his high and praying to God you let go with him.
He's feeling bold now that his brain is only chasing your orgasms. He groans the loudest moan you've heard from him this whole time as you feel him tense behind you, keeping up his movements but, just barely. His hips are stuttering and his hand falls down on your ass in a loud smack. "Ohhh shit. Honey. Yeah. That's what I'm talking about."
Your walls give him one last squeeze and you grip him tight, legs shaking under you as your orgasms rushes over your whole body. He has to hold you up as it rolls through your body, flashes going off behind your eyes as you cry out with pleasure. The pain from the smack to your ass being washed away with the cool of the water trickling over you.
It takes him only three firm thrusts more to fill you up, stuttering sounds falling from his lips. Incoherent blabbers and praises and gasps of your name spurting out along with his come.
You're both absolutely breathless, heaving chests and deep sighs filling the air while still connected to one another. Steve pulls you up slowly as he slips out of you, and spins you around. Still cradling your body and wrapping you into him, he pulls you both under the water to rinse off and come back down from wherever you both are floating off to right now. As you stand there swaying under the cascade, he brings his lips to your temple with a kiss as he mutters "I did mean it. I love seeing you here every year."
You hum along with him, because you do love seeing him too. You just never thought about it like this before. And now that you have, you're pretty sure it's the only way you can from here on out.
"We should probably get back down to the beach. I'm sure at least one of those nosey dipshits have noticed were both missing by now." Steve says against your skin.
"Yeah, yeah, you're right. But you are the one explaining these marks you left on me. I'm not saying a peep."
"Aw, c'mon sweetheart. You had a lot to say when I was in-"
"Stop that right now. If you wanna even think about doing this again, you're gonna stop right now." You roll your eyes at him while wrapping yourself with a towel and unlatching the door. As you back out and start up towards the house to grab a new swimsuit, he sees the grin on your face.
"Yeah, okay honey. Shutting my mouth now...so I'll definitely see ya later, then." He says with a wink, just as the door shuts and your left naked, wrapped up in Steve Harrington's towel with all your friends gathered round the grill out back making lunch watching you as you make your way around the path.
Eddie snarls a wide grin at you as he brings both thumbs up, his wife slapping his chest when she notices. "Hey Nance!" He yells out. "I think Harrington's got himself a new roommate for next trip!"

Steve's only 25 when it all catches up to him.
It starts off small, things people wouldn't even be able to tell is an early sign of something wrong. Misplacing keys, forgetting which day he has his shifts, what time he's supposed to get Robin. Robin notices though.
Robin knows Steve always keeps his keys on the hook next to Eddie's by the front door, that's where he always finds them, he's not misplacing the keys, he's forgetting the hook exists.
Robin knows Steve has the same shifts every week, they never change because they line up with Eddie's at the record store nearby. Robin knows Steve isn't forgetting what time he's supposed to pick Robin up, he's forgetting Robin moved away a few months ago after she graduated college.
Robin keeps noticing when the kids start calling her because the little things are becoming big things.
Robin notices when Dustin calls and tells her Steve thought he and Suzie were back together, "Like how crazy is that we broke up two years ago, I don't think I've even mentioned her lately."
Robin notices when Lucas calls and tells her Steve asked when his next game was, "The season ended months ago, he came to the finals."
Robin notices when Max calls and whispers softly, "He asked to take me to the skatepark, Robin, I told him I had to help mum. He's forgotten I'm blind Robin."
Robin wished she'd noticed sooner, maybe years ago when Steve was getting knocked around a lot. She wished she'd screamed in the face of those Russians to take her instead. She wished a lot of things when Eddie called her.
"He's in hospital, Birdie, he collapsed at work."
Robin is back in Chicago for the first time since she graduated. She wished she'd visited sooner.
"Do you think the feds are gonna let me go soon, Robbie? I mean it usually doesn't take this long for them to bring me the NDAs."
Robin hopes Steve doesn't notice her eyes going glossy as she runs her fingers through his hair, "Don't worry Stevie, I'm sure they'll be in soon, Dusty is probs just arguing over something in his."
"At least he isn't having to explain he raised a demodog. Did I ever tell you about that Robbie?"
Robin smiles softly, "Yeah but tell me again, don't want to forget any of it."
Eddie gives Robin the gist of what the doctors said, Eddie didn't understand much, a lot of technical words and shit. Too many concussions, more than they knew about most likely. They say it'll probably get worse with no timeframe of how quickly it'll happen, there might be good days, there will be a lot of bad days.
The first bad day comes a week later. Steve barely remembers Eddie, trapped in a time when Eddie was just the kids DM. Eddie sobs in the corridor in Robin's arms. The next day it's like nothing happened and Steve gets discharged. They tell Steve, this time Eddie is the one to comfort him.
"I don't want to forget you Eds."
"It's okay if you do, sweetheart, I'll still be here."
It's Robins idea to start writing everything down. Eddie, Nancy and the kids all help. Filling journals upon journals of stories and pictures of Steve's life to help on the bad days. Steve has to quit his job, Robin moves back to Chicago, they make it work.
On bad days depending on how far back Steve is Dustin or Robin or Eddie will read through the books with him, filling in the gaps of what he needs. On the worst days, Eddie leaves the pile of journals on the bed with a note and waits downstairs to see if Steve will join him later.
They make it work for a few years. Steve celebrates his 30th birthday with perfect clarity. He writes himself an entry in the journal next to a big group picture with Steve and Eddie's matching rings showing.
That July, over a decade since Starcourt, Steve is in hospital again. He'd collapsed at breakfast. Eddie had thought it was going to be one of their good days, Steve had woken up fine, all his memories in tact if a little fuzzy. He'd made them coffee and giggled at Eddie's singing while he made them eggs and just like that it all came crashing down.
Steve's brain is shutting down. They don't know if he'll make it past Christmas. There's more bad days after that. More days with books left on the bed. Most days Steve doesn't even come downstairs. On the good days, Eddie always calls off work. He'd rather be fired than miss a single second of Steve smiling at him like he does, so full of love.
They have Christmas, the whole family comes, they have to bring every chair from around the house and squish in around the table just to fit but it's perfect. Steve sits between Robin and Eddie, face bright and full of love and life. Everyone gives him the tightest hug as the night closes, all lingering, afraid of letting go.
"I love you, dingus."
"I love you too, Robbie."
Later, upstairs in their room, Steve and Eddie go through all the journals, laughing softly at each little note the kids have left. Steve writes his little journal entry, a tradition of good days, and curls into Eddie's arm whispering soft loving words to each other before falling asleep.
Steve never wakes up.
The funeral happens shortly after, all of the family is still in town. Robin holds Eddie afterwards as they go through the journals together. When they get to the last page, they struggle not to smudge the ink with their tears.
Dear Eds and Robbie,
I don't know how many more good days I'm going to get so I'm leaving this here for you now. I love you both so much, you're equally my soulmates and I want you two to look after each other while I'm gone.
Robs, go travelling with Nancy, ok? Thank you for looking after me all these years but it's time for you to go look after yourself. Go see the world for me, tell me all about it wherever I am when you get back.
Eddie, I'm sorry we didn't get as much time as we hoped, I hope you know that even just a day with you has been worth a lifetime with anyone else. Go follow your dreams, write music, perform, show the world how amazing I know you are. I give you full permission to fall in love with whoever you meet along the way, I don't want either of you guys to be alone.
Thank you for giving me a life worth remembering.
Your Dingus,
Stevie

~~~~~
Saturday.
October 25th, 1986.
Hawkins High Library.
1:00pm
~~~~~
"Let's take off. Dick's gone cruising." Eddie poked his head back into the library.
"Is that a euphemism?"
"No, Buckley. It means Higgins has just left his office."
You looked at the others as if this was an easy yes; you wanted to leave this library. Steve and Nancy didn't look too fond of the idea. Robin was torn between not wanting to leave, and not wanting to be the only one left behind.
"How do you know where he went?" Nancy asked, as if his answer would determine hers.
"I don't. But he's gone. He wouldn't've come to check on us first if he wasn't going somewhere for a while. Jesus, I've never seen so much chicken shit in one place in my life."
She didn't find that answer very reassuring, but if Nancy was anything, it certainly wasn't chicken shit.
Robin looks at her, then back at Eddie. "I'll go out in the hall for a minute, but I don't wanna leave." As if that was proof enough that she wasn't chicken shit.
You really wanted to get out of that library. It had felt a lot bigger when you had first got there, but now, five hours later, it was starting to get suffocating. You didn't want to see another book for the rest of your life.
"Do you mean take off for good?" You asked hopefully.
Eddie shook his head. "For good? No, just down to my locker."
"Okay." You agreed simply, taking your place beside him.
He smiled at you. "Being bad feels pretty god, huh?"
You rolled your eyes at him and gave him a playful shove. The others looked like they were starting to consider it. Eddie's locker wasn't that far away. They would be gone for five minutes tops. If things went well, that was.
"What's the point of going to a locker?" Steve questioned.
"Why don't we just stand in the hall for a minute? That'd be fun, huh? If we get away with it." Robin attempted to persuade.
You and Eddie ignored them, taking the chance to slip out the door. The longer you all spent debating it, the less time you would have to get back.
Steve, Robin, and Nancy looked at each other.
"I'm not chicken." Nancy disclosed boldly, shifting on her feet and crossing her arms.
"I am." Robin gulped. At least she was honest.
"You two gonna stay?" Nancy flicked her eyes between the two of them.
"Not if you don't." Steve leaned against the door frame, like his answer showed her some sort of compassion, that he was thinking of her.
"What do I have to do with making up your mind?"
Steve gulped. Not the reaction he was hoping. He cleared his throat and accepted defeat. "I don't know. I guess if you're not scared, I shouldn't be... not that I am. I'm not scared. Not of Principal Higgins."
Nancy stared at him like she didn't believe him, then left before he could dig the hole any deeper for himself. Steve was crushed as he watched Nancy walk away. He felt like he had just blown a chance at impressing Nancy. His shoulders slumped, and Robin patted him on the back.
"Maybe you should think for yourself for once. It's healthy."
She hadn't said it in a bad way, but it had still injured his dignity. He brushed her hand off him and left without a word. Robin turned to the empty library. She debated sitting back down, but she had visions of Higgins storming through the doors and hounding her with questions. At least if she got caught in the halls, she'd have the others with her. She quickly followed after Steve.
Nancy and Steve caught up with you and Eddie, with Robin running behind, trying to catch up. You all hurried up the steps as quietly as possible. You made it to the teacher's lounge and paused, hearing noise coming from inside.
"For cryin' out loud!" Principal Higgins hit the vending machine. His soda can was stuck inside.
You and Eddie ran across the open doorway while he was distracted. You tried not to think about the way Eddie had grabbed your hand to pull you along. Higgins rattled the coin return and started banging on the buttons. Steve and Nancy went next, taking a big lunge across and landing on their feet silently. Higgins let out a defeated sigh and started rummaging his pockets for more change. Finally, Robin made it across, just in time before the Principal turned around after having no luck. Eddie turned to make sure that everyone had made it across. He hadn't realised that he was still holding your hand until you wiggled it out of his grip. Your face flushed, and you awkwardly wiped your hand on your skirt, suddenly feeling the perspiration on your palm. You took a step away from each other at the same time. Eddie cleared his throat, and the others eyed him, wondering why his demeanour had suddenly changed.
They all turned when they saw his eyes staring behind them, paralysed in panic. Principal Higgins had walked out of the teacher's lounge.
Everyone froze.
The Principal paused, looked down at his watch, turned the other way, and walked down the hall. Everyone released a breath when he was out of sight. Eddie led you down another hall until you reached his locker.
His locker was so ugly it hurt your eyes. The white paint on his locker was non-existent. It was a horrific amalgamation of stickers from bands you've never heard of, spray paint graffiti, and lettering scratched into the metal with handwriting so bad you couldn't even read it. When he opened it, the inside wasn't much better. The stickers and writing wrapped around the inside of the locker door. It was a stunning mess of clothes, bags, papers, books, cassette tapes, and auto parts. You'd hate to see what his bedroom looked like.
Not that you were thinking of being in his bedroom.
Eddie started fishing through his locker. Nancy was revolted by it.
"You're such a slob. Your maid take the week off or something?"
"This is on purpose, Princess. Don't worry." Nobody believed him. "It discourages nosey people from going in it. Like cops."
Eddie smiled when he located what he was looking for. He pulled out a greasy, stained shopping bag. Out of the shopping bag, he took a smaller brown paper bag, and out of that, an even smaller paper bag. Then, with great drama and a huge, proud smile, he reached his hand into the final bag.
"You ready for this action?"
He slowly took out a baggie bulging with marijuana. Your mouth hung open in shock. Nancy looked at it like it was infectious.
"No way, man. Put it back." Steve insisted, making a reach for it.
Eddie stuffed the baggie down the from of his pants with a smirk. Steve pulled a disgusted face; there was no way he was going to take it from him now.
"Let's go."
You all turned and quietly crept back down the hall. You were about to turn the corner when Eddie stopped you. Professor Higgins was standing outside of the teacher's lounge again, holding two cans of Coca Cola after finding some spare change in his office draw. He was only five yards away. You all scooted backwards to hide behind the corner. You bravely peeked a head around. Higgins turned and made his way down the hall. He was on his way back to the library. You told the others.
"We're screwed!" Robin cried
"You asshole!" Steve seethed. "I knew this was a lost idea!"
Nancy shook her head in disbelief. "We're finished. This is just great."
You had a bit more optimism than that. You turned to Eddie. He got himself out of shit all the time. What's one more? You had faith in him, and he had felt it in how you spoke your words. "What're we gonna do?"
Eddie thought hard. Higgins' leisurely footsteps echoed down the hall, each one diminishing your chances of getting back to the library undetected.
"We'll go around, cut through the lab, and double back. C'mon."
Eddie urged everyone to start running. You all swerved around corners and scrambled downstairs, sacrificing volume for speed. You narrowly escaped Higgins' sight when you turned and corner and seen he was walking head on towards you all. He was too busy sipping on his Cola to notice the group of students at the end of the hall. At least he had decided to take the scenic route back to the library. He was unintentionally buying you all some time. You all ran in the opposite direction again.
"Cut through the cafeteria." Eddie directed, starting to run down the hall to the right.
"The gym will be faster." Steve countered.
"What? No, you don't know what you're talking about."
"No, you don't know what you're talking about. I'm through listening to you. You'll just end up getting us into more trouble. We're going this way." Steve had managed to persuade the others into following him.
Eddie hardly spent time in school, and he certainly never used the gym. He couldn't remember if it was quicker or not. He didn't like not being in control. He felt like he was running off a cliff head first with a blindfold on. He watched as the others followed Steve down the hall to the left. It was just you and him left. You stared at him fearfully, listening to Principal Higgins' footsteps grow closer. You started backwards slowly, encouraging Eddie to follow. He did with a scoff of annoyance. The two of you quickly caught up with the others, falling behind while Steve led the way. After a couple of twists and turns and another almost run in with the Principal, you reached the gym doors. Steve pulled on the handles.
They were locked.
Sheer panic set in.
"Great idea, shitbag." Eddie spat at Steve.
"Fuck you." He tried the doors again to double check that they were locked.
They were. He kicked them bitterly.
"Fuck you, why didn't you listen to Eddie?" You defended.
You crashed back on some lockers and folded your arms in frustration.
"We're dead." Robin whimpered.
Eddie looked at you. You had probably given him more credit that what he was worth before when you had asked him for help, but now, as you stared back, he wanted to prove himself to you. You seeing the clogs working in his brain and the change in his eyes.
He didn't take his eyes off you. "No, just me." He said heroically.
"What do you mean?" Steve's voice finally drew his eyes away from you.
"I'm gonna take the rap." He pulls his baggie of marijuana out and shoves it down Steve's pants. "Keep your unit out of it."
The girls giggled. Steve was horrified that a group of girls were laughing about his genitals.
"I mean, what if the bag broke and the dope seeped into his thing and it got high?" Robin laughed.
"Can you imagine this airhead running around with his little weenie stoned?" You cracked up.
"Little?" Steve looked wounded. "It's not that funny."
The girls just cracked up more. Eddie smirked.
"I don't want this, Eddie!" Steve begged.
"C'mon King Steve, I'm gonna save your buns! It's your fault we're in this mess, the least you could do is hold on to that until Dick leaves."
The girls were still laughing. You meet Eddie's eye and he starts laughing too.
Steve turned back to the group of girls snickering behind him. "Excuse me, but I don't want to do this. Eddie's making me, so I'd appreciate it if you guys would stop with the jokes. Okay?"
Eddie turned and started running back down the hall. "Just get back to the library!"
There was a pause as the girls calmed down. No use in trying to be sneaky when you can't stop laughing.
"Eddie, wait." He paused, eyebrows raised in interest at your voice. "Be careful."
Eddie beamed and shot you a wink before sprinting down the hall.
"That stuff couldn't really happen, right?" Steve's voice quivered with concern for his unit.
With a roll of your eyes, you urged the group to start towards the library. You lead the way, taking Eddie's route through the cafeteria. As you ran through the halls, you could hear his loud singing, but he was too distant for you to understand any of the words. If you could hear him from all the way over here, Principal Higgins would most definitely already be on his way to catch him.
You managed to get them all back to the library safely. Everyone was huffing for breath, and Steve kept adjusting his pants. Everyone took their seats, except for Nancy, who was peering out of the doors to keep an eye out for Higgins or Eddie.
Nancy gasped. "Higgins' got him! He's gonna get reamed."
Steve recoiled at the name. "I do not want these drugs in my underwear anymore."
"Shhh!"
Nancy rushed from the door to her desk. No sooner was she seated than the door opened up, and Principal Higgins shoved Eddie in. He was red-faced from running around, and he had managed to tie his hair back into a low bun that you thought suited him. His red paid shirt was half hanging off, and he was carrying one shoe in his hand, but he still had a big shit-eating grin on his face. You wondered what on earth had happened. He made his way towards his seat next to you, hopping on one leg as he tried to walk and put his shoe back on at the same time.
Higgins crossed his arms impatiently. "Mr. Munson has taken it upon himself to visit the gymnasium. So, I'm sorry to inform you that you'll be losing his company for the remainder of the day."
Eddie chuckled to himself as he sat back in his seat next to you.
"Everything's a joke, huh, Munson? The false alarm you pulled on Friday? Are false fire alarms real funny? What if your home was on fire and the fire department was over here answering a false alarm?"
"I'm not that lucky, Sir."
Everyone suppressed the urge to laugh at Eddie's wisecrack.
"Fine, what if it was your dope on fire?"
"That's impossible, Sir. It's in Harrington's underwear."
Everyone cracks up again. Steve turned red, adjusting himself in his jeans not-so subtly.
The Principal turned his attention on everyone else. "You like this? You think Munson's funny? Do you think he's cute?"
He got no reaction from anyone. Eddie glared at Higgins as he made his little speech, trying to hide his embarrassment at the fact that the Principal had managed to one-up him.
"I bet Y/N thinks I'm cute." He mumbled under his breath. Eddie had spoken your actual name for the first time. It sounded like honey running off his lips. Your eyes widened, but you pretended not to hear.
Higgins continued. "Go visit Big Eddie Munson in five years and see how goddamn funny he is." He smiled and leaned in close to Eddie. "You look like you're gonna cry, Munson."
Eddie was struggling to keep himself from striking Principal Higgins across his smug fucking face. How dare he humiliate him in front of everyone. How dare he humiliate him in front of you.
"You're not tough, Munson. You're pathetic." He reached out and grabbed Eddie by the front. "Let's go."
Eddie smacked his hand away. "Get your fucking hands off me! I'd expect better manners from you, Dick."
Eddie shuffled around the table, planting a big kiss on your cheek as he left. You almost gasped in surprise. As he walked away, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a pair of sunglasses. Why he was carrying sunglasses in October, you had no idea. You had learned it was probably better not to question him. He lay them on the desk in front of Steve.
"For better hallway vision." He sniped.
Principal Higgins walked out, holding the door open for Eddie as he shuffled languidly behind him. He turned his head and looked at the others.
He held up a peace sign in farewell. "It's been a slice, ladies."
The door closed behind them.
The room was silent once more.
You reached a hand to your cheek where Eddie had kissed you. The skin was tingling under your touch. You couldn't help but smile at the memory of his surprisingly soft lips. Billy flashed through your mind again. Your heart dropped into your gut. How could you have let Eddie have that effect on you when Billy was waiting for you at home? The thought had your body tingling again. But not the good kind.
Everyone awkwardly glanced at each other. You realised now that somehow Eddie had been the glue that was holding you all together. You had all bonded over your inadequacy to tolerate Eddie that, now he wasn't here, you had absolutely nothing in common.  You were unable to prevent the disappointment swarming in your chest.
"Principal Higgins is a total meat head." You broke the silence and everyone turned to you.
They all had the same sort of sorrow in their eyes. The girls agreed with you, but Steve shook his head like he didn't have any regrets.
"The freak asked for it."
The insult upset you more than it probably would have upset Eddie. "Hey! It isn't fair that Eddie gets treated like that. We all left. He saved our asses."
"Oh, get a life, Y/N."
You thought Steve was starting to come around to you after your talk on the way to the teachers lounge. You guessed not. "He sacrificed himself so we could get back here. I didn't see you volunteering."
You had wounded Steve's dignity. "I didn't want to leave in the first place. He got us into it, it's only right that he take the shit for getting us out of it." He bit back.
"You weren't forced to go!"
"Munson is a troublemaker."
"Yeah? So what does that make you?"
"Meaning what?"
"Wimp."
CCRRAASSHH!!!
Everyone turned in the direction of one of the seclusion rooms. There is a gaping hole in the ceiling where the tiles had crashed through, and Eddie splayed, stunned, on his back on the table. After catching his breath, he sat up and shook the dry plaster out of his hair. He sauntered out into the main library like nothing had happened.
"Miss me?"
"How did you do that?" You bewildered.
"Smoke and mirrors." He winked, taking his rightful seat beside you.
"Goddammit!" Footsteps came hurtling towards the library doors.
"Shit!" Eddie ducked underneath the table.
His tall, lanky body hardly fit underneath. He shuffled upwards until his upper half was tucked between your legs. You cringed, trying so desperately to close your legs so Eddie didn't look straight up your skirt, but your legs were trapped on either side of his shoulders.
Principal Higgins stood at the door, red-faced and puffing. "What was that ruckus?"
"What ruckus?" You played dumb, jumping in before Steve could open his mouth and rat on Eddie.
Higgins eyed them all up. You all sat like little angles, up straight and arms folded innocently in front of you.
"Could you describe it, Sir?" Robin asked.
"Watch your tongue, Missy."
Eddie shifted in discomfort, adjusting himself so his back didn't ache as much. He eyed your white keds. Only a slight discolouration in the laces and few specs of mud from when you had crossed the school field, but otherwise clean. He moved back slightly so he didn't get any dirt on himself. He followed his eyes up your white socks, tracing the green trim at the top of your knee. He was glad to be under the table when he flushed at the sight of your bare skin. The soft flesh of your thighs enticing him to follow higher.
There was a sudden knock from under the table from Eddie accidentally banging his head. You jolted in surprise, hitting your hands on the table to disguise the sound. The others copied, tapping their own little beats.
"What was that noise?"
"What noise?"
Eddie hoped that the sight he saw would never leave his mind. It was enough to send anyone into a cardiac arrest. His mouth hung open as he ogled straight up your skirt. You hadn't worn your spandex briefs since you weren't actually doing any cheerleading, and instead had opted for a pair of baby blue cotton panties. Eddie's mouth was watering at the excruciatingly tender bulge. In his entire life, Eddie would not be able to duplicate the raw power of this moment. Eddie's eyes were locked in a stare, hand trembling and eager to touch.
"Really, Sir, there wasn't any noise, just ---"
You shot up straight with a gasp, hands reaching underneath the table and into Eddie's hair. You could feel it tickling the skin of your thigh as his head moved further between your legs. The others looked at you with alarm. You pulled gently on his hair to urge him to stop, but couldn't find yourself putting in any effort to resist him. Your hand stayed weaved into his curled as he continued to delve in deeper. Your legs had started trembling when you felt his lips graze your inner thighs before placing a soft kiss there. Your mouth hung open in shock before you came to your senses. You quickly covered your gasp with a cough.
The others joined in and you couldn't be more grateful. The four of you sat in a coughing fit with Higgins eyeing you all suspiciously.
"What that the noise? The noise I just made. Was that it?" You thought fast.
Eddie's nose prodded at your mound. You suppressed another gasp and slammed your thighs closed around his head to stop him from moving any further. Eddie snapped out of his trance at the sudden pain on either side of his head. He slapped your leg to tap out, and you relaxed your thighs. He moved away from you, rubbing his ringing ears. When you felt him leave, you gave him a deserved kick to the arm. He hissed in pain, but Higgins hadn't heard it.
The Principal scowled. "I didn't catch you this time, but you can bet I will." He pointed a finger at you. "You!"
You tensed.
"I will not be made a fool of."
And with those final words, he stormed from the library.
Everybody held their angelic expressions for a couple beats and then, assured that Higgins was out of earshot, Steve, Nancy, and Robin break into laughter. You shoved your seat back and kicked your legs at Eddie as he scrambled out from under the front of the table.
"You're such an asshole."
Eddie tried to keep as serious as he could, but struggled to contain his laughter at your anger. "What?" He asked innocently.
"You know what."
"It was dark under there, it was an accident."
The others seemed to take interest in your spat. They wondered what had Eddie laughing and felt inclined to join in.
"What?" Steve asked.
"None of your business." You slumped back into your chair and crossed your arms, angry and embarrassed.
Eddie saw your wet eyes and soft pouting lips. He started to feel bad. He hadn't meant to upset you.
"I couldn't help it, okay? I'm sorry."
You refused to look at him. He placed a gentle hand under your chin and guided your eyes to meet. His voice was much softer. "I'm sorry."
You hadn't said it out loud, but Eddie could see the forgiveness in your eyes. You relaxed under his touch, feeling the truth in his words. He smiled tenderly.
"What did you do?" Steve asked again, still hoping for a laugh.
Eddie had clearly embarrassed you somehow. Steve thought it was only fair to get a few jokes out on you after you and the other girls had made fun at him in the hallway.
"Shut up." Eddie snapped, and the moment was over.
He held out a hand to Steve who just looked at it in confusion. He reached like he was going to shake Eddie's hand but he slapped it away just before they clasped hands. Eddie looked at him like he was as thick as pig shit.
"You smoke all my reefer or something? The dope, waistoid. Give it to me."
Steve's eyes lit up at the disclosure, wondering how he had managed to forget. He reached into his pants and tossed the baggie to Eddie, murmuring a 'good riddance' to it under his breath. Eddie sat back next to you and opened the bag on the table. You stared at it in curiosity.
You had never smoked weed before. You had never smoked period. But Billy did. He always tried to force you to smoke it with him, but you refused. It wasn't that you hadn't wanted to do it, it was because Billy wanted you to. It was kind of like when your parents ask you to do something and it immediately puts you off wanting to do it. He'd call you a killjoy, or Miss Priss, which always got under your skin. But what made it worse was that Billy always got horny when he was high. He struggled to contain himself around you, even when you told him no. Luckily, he had never done anything, but you knew it was only a matter of time before he would.
You knew Eddie wouldn't be like that though. You had never seen him stoned, but there was something about him that told you smoking with Eddie would be okay. He wouldn't pressure you into trying it if you didn't want to, and if you did, that was okay too. Eddie sold weed to people all the time, heavy hitters and noobs alike. He had taught plenty of people how to smoke before. You could try it for yourself, without Billy's untoward provocation.
He patted his pockets then looks troubled. "Do you have any papers." He asked no one in particular.
Then with a shake of his head, he answered his own question. "Why would you dinks have papers?"
"You're not smoking in here." Nancy looked fearful.
"Yeah? Watch me."
"If you want to smoke, go back to where you were before. Before you fell through the fucking ceiling." Steve ordered on Nancy's behalf.
Eddie reached over and pretended to click a switch to turn Steve off.
"What can I use for papers?"
"A book?" You suggested.
"What about the smell?" Nancy quizzed.
Eddie regarded her off-handedly. "Take your shoes off, that'll mask the smell."
Nancy's mouth hung open in offence, She knew her feet didn't smell so the insult hadn't wounded her pride too much. But it was still embarrassing none the less. Especially in front of Steve.
Eddie ignored her and turned to you. "Book pages are too thick."
"How about dictionary pages? That paper's real thin."
Eddie looked at you impressed, eyebrows raised and a slight twitch in the corner of his mouth. The look of pride made your stomach flip. You took a great deal of pleasure at his silent praise. He walked over to the dictionary stand.
"You can't tear up a dictionary." Robin protested. "What if somebody needs a word and you smoked it?"
Eddie ignored her, opened a dictionary and ripped out a random page. He couldn't care less if he had caused someone a minor inconvenience. There was more than one dictionary in the world.
He pointed at Nancy. "Hey Princess, watch that door. This is a police matter if we get caught."
Nancy tensed. She didn't like that idea very much. She swallowed hard. Eddie walked to the back of the library where the comfy chairs were and plonked himself down on one of the bean bags, making himself right at home.
You got up to follow. Steve looked at you completely pissed off at you for encouraging Eddie's behaviour.
"Loosen up." You scoffed.
"I'm not getting my paper written." Nancy sighed to herself.
"You know," you continued, "he's not all that bad. I'm kind of getting used to him."
"You're just bored."
"Why are you acting like this towards me, Steve?" You'd had enough of the way he was talking to you. "I thought we were fine after I apologised."
It was like when you were alone together you were fine, but in front of the others he hated your guts. You thought he had some nerve calling Eddie out at lunch for trying to keep up with his image. He was being such a hypocrite right now.
He scoffed. "It was hardly an apology."
"It was hardly an apology because I had nothing to be sorry for. I told you already what Billy did wasn't my fault."
"I know!" His voice softened. "I know."
Nancy gave him a gentle look, as if urging him to apologise. He sighed in defeat, tracing a finger along the split in his lip. Suddenly it didn't hurt as much anymore. Like holding this grudge over you was a constant reminder of the pain Billy had given him. He knew apologising was the right thing to do. He opened his mouth, but his time was up.
You shook your head in disappointment. You didn't know what you were expecting from him. Perhaps Steve wasn't as nice as you once thought. It was crazy how things had turned out. In the beginning, you thought for sure that this experience would have given you a chance to make amends with Steve, maybe even become friends of some sort. Turned out that you grew apart from Steve and found yourself feeling closer to Eddie. A notion you had never entertained in all your years at Hawkins High.
You walked away before Steve could say another word to you.

Batshit Soulmates: in Medias Res
As promised, the soulmate AU you've all been waiting for. I don't have a set schedule for this. I'll post chapters as they come. That said, I do have a backlog of chapters to put out on the regular.
Summary: Steve's never met his soulmate. Even though everyone else in his life has. Most of them are even bonded. Literal teenagers got their soulmates before Steve. He tries not to take it personally. He tries really hard not to take it personally when he finds out it's Eddie Munson when he has a bottle at his throat. He tries even harder not to take personally when everything that could go wrong, does.
*throws chapter at you and runs*
***
“I just think we should wait,” Steve huffed for what felt like the millionth time. “Give our allies more time to get to Hawkins.”
“But the longer we wait,” Nancy growled back, “the likelihood of Vecna finding someone we don’t know to haunt and kill goes up.”
“Except we know who his next victim is!” Steve yelled back. “You! And excuse me for thinking that using you as bait would be better than a fifteen year old girl!”
“Steve!” Max hissed. “What the hell?!”
Steve looked down at his feet and crossed his arms over his chest. He looked up at Nancy and dared her to tell him he was wrong.
But Nancy was stubborn. “The batteries on her Walkman are going to die sooner, rather than later. I know this whole thing sucks, but the longer we put it off the sooner Vecna could wipe out the whole town.”
Steve looked around the room for support and got none. He sighed. No one was on his side in this. But he could feel it. If they waited just five more minutes. But it was five minutes he wasn’t going to get.
He looked down at his feet again as Nancy started listing off who would go where. His head shot up when Dustin and Eddie were told to be the distraction.
“What?” he said. “No. Eddie is my soulmate.”
Robin put her hand his shoulder. “I know, but we can’t leave Dustin alone and you need to come with Nancy and me to kill Vecna.”
Steve’s face shuttered. So the choice was to go with the girls and protect them or go with Eddie and Dustin and protect them, leaving the girls to battle Vecna by themselves?
No.
No, no, no, no.
He had to protect everyone. Why couldn’t he protect everyone?
It was killing him.
“Just go!” Eddie said. “You know you’re going to be needed when it comes to killing this bastard. They’re going to need your strength.”
Steve let out a whine that had been caught in his throat. “You’re telling me to leave you...” He didn’t understand.
Eddie pressed his fingers into his eye. “It’s not because–it’s not what you think. Honest. This is just proper strategy and you know it. Dustin and I aren’t going to be doing anything but drawing the attention of the demobats away from you and the girls.”
Steve let out another noise of distress. He knew Eddie was right. He did. It just hurt that in the five days since meeting his soulmate, they had spent a total of less than a day together. And most of that was spent getting ready for this.
“All right,” he finally agreed.
Everyone let out a sigh of relief and that made Steve’s heart hurt. They weren’t counting on him to make the right decision. They weren’t counting on him to do the smart thing. Even Eddie had sighed in relief.
Steve shut down. Maybe his mother had been right. Maybe soulmates weren’t everything they cracked up to be. Maybe it was good he was find this out now, before he got too attached.
He gave his little speech and made them promise not to be heroes.
Eddie looked down at the ground and then back up at Steve’s retreating back. He closed his eyes and opened them slowly.
“Hey, Steve?” he called out.
Steve turned around, trying to keep the hope out of his eyes.
“Make him pay.”
Steve nodded and turned back around, his heart shattering in his chest. He was stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Hoping for a declaration of love. Hoping that Eddie felt something for him. But despite Eddie’s reassurances that he no longer thought that Steve was douchebag, he still couldn’t get over the fact that he had been fated to be his soulmate.
He felt the ice creep up his chest to nestle around his heart. All his life he hoped that his soulmate would be the one that’d love him unconditionally when no one else could. But he guessed that was only for children’s fairy tales.
Steve had barely taken two steps when he heard the sound of running feet and then he was being spun around. He was suddenly face to face with Eddie and he couldn’t breathe. Eddie gently took his face in his hands and kissed him on the lips.
Steve had melted. That is the only explanation for how gooey his insides had become. Eddie pulled back.
“Oh, sweetheart,” he panted. “Be safe. Come back to me, okay, Stevie?”
Steve rested his head against Eddie’s. “You, too. I can’t lose you now. Please.”
“Okay, baby,” Eddie whispered. “Okay.”
Steve watched as his soulmate ran back to Dustin, his heart just as heavy, but now whole.
Robin tapped his shoulder. “Come on, Steve. Vecna needs to die so you can be together without having to always look over your shoulder.”
He closed his eyes and nodded. Nancy took his hand and gave it a squeeze. He let her lead him away from the best boy he had ever known to kill the person who was responsible for all the turmoil in their lives.
*
Shit.
Eddie looked up at the rope ladder in dismay. All around him he could hear the sounds of the demobats clawing their way through the vents. If he climbed the rope, they would break through the gate and Dustin would be a sitting duck.
They would both die.
“Get Steve on the walkie-talkie!” Eddie yelled. “Tell him the bats are about to break through this gate and I’m leading them away from you.”
“Eddie!” Dustin yelled. “Don’t!”
Eddie took a deep breath and cut the rope ladder.
“No!” Dustin yelled.
“Get Steve!” Eddie yelled over his shoulder as he strapped his makeshift spear and shield to back. He zipped up his jacket, knowing full well that armor was no good if it didn’t cover the bits that needed protecting. He took the bandanna off his hair and tied around his face.
God he hated this place.
He grabbed one of the bikes and hopped on. He just needed to give Steve, Nancy and Robin enough time to kill Vecna so that Dustin was safe.
That’s all he needed. Just two minutes.
Behind him he could hear the screech of the bats turn from the trailer to chase him. After all even a moving target out in the open is better than a sitting target in a tin can.
Eddie wasn’t sure how long he could outrun them. He wasn’t exactly in peak physical condition but he had to try.
It took him a bit to realize that subconsciously he hadn’t been running from Dustin, but to Steve. And just how fucked up was that. Which of course was when the front tire hit a small hole in the ground and he went tumbling, rolling in the dirt. His shield and spear prevented him from getting up and he thought for sure that this was the end.
But suddenly he was being righted and yanked to his feet.
“Eddie!” Steve called over the screeching of the bats.
“Steve!” Eddie called back. “Are the girls okay?”
Steve nodded. “I left Robin with the Malatov cocktails and Nancy with her shot gun. They’re kicking his ass.”
Eddie pursed his lips and nodded back. “Dustin is safe. Or as safe as I can make that kid.”
Steve closed his eyes. “He said you told him the bats were breaking in though the vents.”
Eddie nodded. “Yeah, I didn’t want them to get to him or out into Hawkins, lynch mob aside, so I lead them away.”
Steve gave him a hug. “Well then, let’s keep their attention on us, shall we?”
“Bring it on!” Eddie yelled, pulling off his shield and spear.
Steve stood at his back, ax in one hand, nail bat in the other. He twirled them both, warming up his wrists as he stared up the sky that was now thick with bats.
And even though they had only fought together once before, they moved as one, anticipating each other’s movements and covering each other’s backs.
Steve hit a bat so hard its guts rained down upon them, spraying them with black goo. Eddie in turn protected them with his shield putting it in front of him as the bats slammed into it full force.
He could feel his feet sliding back, but Steve was there and he leaned backward, putting all his weight against Eddie to brace him up.
Eddie had been on the verge of giving up, tears streaming down his face as he fought against impossible odds. But Steve was there. And he remembered that every impossible thing he had ever thought in his life had be come possible in this one man. And he was damned if he wasn’t going to survive this too.
“I love you,” Steve whispered.
Eddie closed his eyes and whispered back. “I love you, too, Stevie.”
The bats soon realized that they couldn’t get through Eddie and turned, swirling in the sky and Eddie could feel it before it happened. They were going to attack Steve.
He pushed Steve to the ground and lifted his shield above their heads. “I’m sorry.”
“Me, too,” Steve replied.
And then all the bats dived at once.

Yeah...don't expect a quick resolution to that. Just know, I'm a sucker for happy endings. ;)

@ceriseheaven
Angst/ Fluff
Eddie clenches his jaw as he takes a pretzel out of his bag while you sit next to him, playing with his hair. You and Eddie have been dating for quite some time and you're the type of person that loves to show her affection.
" Can I have one?" you asked, taking his hand underneath the table to lace your fingers with his but he rolled his eyes as he offered you a pretzel. He doesn't look at you or turned around to kiss your cheek like he used. Things have been different since the beginning of your relationship.
" Thank you, Eds" you said, taking the pretzel from his hand. A frown on your face as you place your hands on top of the table muting out the conversation that brought your boyfriend attention rather than you.
Eddie notices the change of mood coming from you as he rolls his eyes again. You always do this, you cling onto him and want to be affectionate but he isn't used to that and doesn't really like it as he thought he would.
" Y/N" Dustin calls out you and you look up, holding sadness in your eyes but it's gone the minute he frowns and notices. " Are you coming tonight over at Steve's? It's movie night."
" Sure, Eddie's going to pick me up. Right, Eds?" you asked, reaching over to peck him on the cheek but he moves away and stands up, grabbing his lunch box muttering he has deal to make at the spot.
You sigh, feeling the tears coming.
"I'll see you later" you mumble. Eddie doesn't respond as he leaves the cafeteria.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
You arrive at Steve's on your bike, hurt that Eddie didn't bother to come pick you up as he usually does. When you walk into Steve's house, he embraces you with a hug. You knew Steve since he was King Steve, although the two of you weren't too friendly at the beginning, he has became one of your best friends.
" It's been a while since I've seen you, buttercup" he says as he walks with you into the living room. Eddie is already there sitting on the couch with Dustin, as the two were in a deep conversation. Your eyes land on your boyfriend in hopes he would turn his head and look at you. He doesn't
" I've been around" you respond making yourself known to everyone else.
" Y/N!" Robin yells with her hands in the air as she rushes over, almost tackling you in a hug.
" Good to see you too, Robin" you laugh as you hug her back. Nancy comes from the kitchen with two bowls in her hands as she sets them on the table.
You look around for a spot around the living room, Dustin notices you have arrived and moves to get up when Eddie pulls him back down by the back of his shirt. Dustin shoots you a sympathetic look.
" Is everything okay between you and Eddie?" Robin asks as she leans over to whisper in your ear. You nod with a shrug.
" as good as it gets" you mumble as you settle down on the floor near Nancy's feet. Steve walks around Eddie and Dustin to get to his spot and shoots Eddie a dirty look.
As the movie night continues, you have your arms wrapped around yourself feeling your eyes sting with tears. Eddie hasn't casted you one look since you got here. What happened? Did you do something wrong?
Your heart sank into your chest as your mind ran over the things that you thought you did to cause Eddie to act like this. You came up with nothing and moved closer towards near Eddie's leg.
He took a glance down at you to see what you were doing and when he saw you moving, he excused himself to the bathroom. You looked around the room and notices eyes on you as if asking if you were going to talk to him or something.
You answered them by following him in the bathroom. When the door opened, you shoved him inside causing him to stumble. He gripped on the edge of the door to not fall over.
" What is your problem?" He asks once noticing it was you who had pushed him back in the bathroom. You put your arms across your chest as you looked at him.
" My problem? What is your problem, Edwards?" you hissed. He winced at the usage of his full name.
He scoffed as he looked away, " Look. I don't have time for this, Y/N. The next movie is about to start" he says as he shoves past you.
He used your name instead of sweetheart and it stung. He never really called you by your name unless he was made of upset with you. But even if he was upset, he would talk to you about it. This was another thing.
You walked out of the bathroom and into the living room where everyone was to see Eddie was putting on his jacket.
" Where are you going? I thought you wanted to see the next movie" you say with an eyebrow raised and leaning against the wall. He doesn't even look at you as he says, " I'm tired. I'm going home."
You stared at him in disbelief. He was tired?
No one else said a word as you followed him out of the house after putting on your shoes.
" Since when do you leave in the middle of movie night?" you asked watching as picked up his pace to walk over to his van. He was running away from you and from this conversation. " Why are you running away from me? Since when did you become a coward?"
He stops in his tracks as your eyes outline the Dio on his vest. He turns around to face you with his nose scrunched up and his eyes darker than the shade of brown.
" What do you want?" he spats through his teeth.
" I want to know why my boyfriend is being a dick!" he grits his teeth. You reached out and take the pack of cigarettes in his hands.
" Give that back" he says, reaching for it but you pull it away and instead scrunched it up into a ball and throw it to the ground. His eyes widen at your action and he's seething. If you looked at him as you walked by, you would see the steam coming from his ears.
" I didn't get an answer, Edward"
" BECAUSE YOU'RE ALWAYS CLINGY AND TOO TOUCHY, YOU'RE ALWAYS AROUND AND NOT LETTING ME BREATHE!" he yells, causing you to flinch.
Never have you heard him yell like this. Not at you.
Your eyes brim with tears as you step back. He is breathing increased as he stares at you with wide anger eyes, his nose scrunched with his fist to the side.
A small whimper escapes from you, the tears are rolling down your face and your lip quivers. His gaze softens at the sound of your whimper as he reaches his hand to touch you. You shake your head, with a small hiccup as your hands reach down to take the bike that was on the ground.
" Baby.." he starts to say but your already sitting on the bike and ready to get out of there. " Baby, I'm sorry.." he says as he reaches his hands for the bike handles. You roll the bike back and pedal away from him.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
Eddie crawls up to your window feeling like an idiot for yelling at you. He hates that he was the reason for your tears, the whimpers, the hiccups that he heard. Steve had walked out on the front yard, grabbing him by his vest and pushing him against his van. He had yelled at Eddie for being such an idiot and forgetting that your love language was touch.
Eddie had forgotten that you told him that you were the type of person to always show the person you were with, that you cared and loved them being being affectionate. Holding hands, kissing, sitting next to the other, taking in their interests etc.
He peeks through the window of your room seeing you with your knees to your chest as your head is buried into the pillow. His heart sinks even more at the sight.
He taps on the window three times letting you know it's him. You hear the taps against the window, and freeze. You didn't want to see him tonight.
" Baby.." he calls out to you. " Please open the window, it's cold."
You huffed as you turn to sit on the bed, glaring at the window with tears rolling down your cheeks.
" Go home, Eddie" you stood up from the bed and draw your curtains close letting him know he has hurt you and he wasn't about to be forgiven this easily.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
Eddie finds you the following day, outside during lunch against the tree doodling in your notebook. You notice the Reeboks standing right next to you and freeze in your spot. Your heart races at the thought he was going to come over and yell at you.
You swallow the lump in your throat.
He kneels down, the chain jingles as he takes in the sight of you. You lean back into the tree making you look smaller to him that you already are. He can see your scared.
He hears the whimper and his heart breaks into two.
" I'm not going to yell at you" he says with his hand reaching out to move the hair away from your face. He wants to see your face better.
You are the most beautiful girl in the world in his eyes.
A tear runs down your cheek but he catches in time, brushing it away with his thumb.
" Sweetheart, I'm so sorry I yelled at you. I didn't mean it" he says as he sits down on the ground. " What are you drawing?" he asks but you shut the notebook closed and put it besides you.
Your hands are on your knees as silence is between the both of you.
" Sweets" he calls out to you but your already standing up with your notebook as you walk back into the school.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
You're browsing for a movie in Family Video, making conversation with Steve and Robin when the door opens and in walks Eddie. He pauses at the sight of you with your eyes widen, looking fearful.
His gaze softens. He really does miss you. He misses your touch, your giggle, your laugher, the way you say his name, the way you wrap your arms around him, the sleep overs you two have, cooking for him, sitting in the campaign's, the way your hand feels with his, the dates you two go on, smoking with you, the way he calls you his girl and most of all he misses your kisses.
" Munson" Steve greets him.
" Robin, Harrington" Eddie greets them. Robin waves.
Steve and Robin look between you and Eddie to see if anything was going to happen or any words were being shared. But there was nothing.
" I gotta go" you dropped the film you were going to rent out and moved towards the door when Eddie blocks you in from leaving. You stop in your tracks as you wrap your arms around yourself, averting your gaze from him, shaking a bit fearing he would yell at you again.
" I miss you, sweetheart" he says. His head tilting to the side as he tries to have you look at him. " You look adorable today" he tells you eyeing your outfit, a small smile on his face.
" T-thanks" you say as you look back at Steve for help.
" Let her go, Munson" Steve says seeing the worried look on your face. Eddie moves away with a frown as you walked past him to the door.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
Your eyes widen as you stare a gap at the words on the test that is sitting on your sink. Tears began to spill down your cheeks and hands shake.
The wasn't happening. Were you ready? How were you suppose to tell Eddie?
You picked up the test from the sink and blinked your eyes a couple of times thinking it wasn't real. That this was some sort of joke that was being played by you.
The test drops from your hands and lands on the floor. Your hand comes up to your mouth as you cry into it.
You were pregnant.
Eddie was the father.
You sank to your knees and laid on the ground, eyes on the test as tears rolled down your cheeks.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
A knock came to the drama room as Eddie paused in what he was about to say. His eyebrow scrunched up as he stood up from his throne.
" Who is that?" Mike asks.
" Is it someone important?" Gareth asks.
Eddie makes his way to the door and throws it open and to his surprise, it's you. Your arms are wrapped around yourself as you stepped into the drama room, eyeing the others at the table as they waved to you.
You sniffled through your tears as you waved back.
" Can we talk?" you asked Eddie. Eddie glances at you with worry in his eyes. He can see how shaken you are around him but he can tell from the look on your face that it's something else.
" Alone" you add, looking at the others.
He holds out his hand from you to take. You glance down at it, the rings on it as your own hand itches to hold his. You have missed holding his hand in yours.
Your hand slipped into his, and a warm feeling goes through Eddie. He can't help but smile as he pulls you outside of the drama room and down the hall. He knows very well the sheep will try to listen in.
He stands in front of you with his hands to his side after he drops your hand.
" Eddie" you start to say his name. For the first time in awhile, to Eddie it was like angel singing to him. He missed the way you would say his name.
" Yes, sweets?" he offers you a gentle smile.
You rub your arm up and down feeling your heart race at what you were about to tell him.
" I'm pregnant" you tell him. There is silence between the two of you. You don't know what else to say. You are scared over all. But he had to know, you weren't going to leave him in the dark.
" Sweetheart" you feel his fingertip brush against your own asking if he can hold your hand. You let him as he interlaces his fingers with your bringing it towards his lips.
" Are you serious?" he asks, his is in quiet in shock hearing the news. His eyes are wide, heart racing and his eyes full of love. You raise your head to meet his gaze.
" I am, you're the father"
" Can I?" he asks, holding his hands out asking if he can touch you and bring you closer. You nod, he wraps his arms around you and brings you flush against his chest. The smell of pine, weed, cigarettes and his shampoo feel like home to you.
Your arms wrap around him.
" I'm so sorry for yelling at you, I'm sorry for making you fee like you were walking on egg shells around me. I'm sorry I made you feel the way you were feeling. I never want to make you feel like that again" he pulls himself away from you and cups your face with both his hands.
" We are going to get through this, I am not leaving you. I love you, sweets."
" Together?" you sniffled through your new fresh tears.
" Together" he says as he kisses your nose.

Love isn't a test.
summary: Steve thinks your relationship is one-sided, because he has all the right answers when he's asked about you, while you ramble a lot while talking about him and struggle to get the answers right. cw. this is a very specific talk about food i'm sorry. mentions of reader having attention deficit.
Tumblr media
Steve knew you were a picky eater. He notice how you would always tart your meals minutes before everyone in the table because you were busy taking off the things you didn't like it, cutting your fruits because you didn't like how you tooth felt while biting from it.
Nancy saw how Steve was taking off the carrots and mushrooms, eating them from your plate or simply putting them in his, making sure to just leave the chicken and rice for you to eat.
Eddie entered the Wheeler's kitchen a few seconds later and laughed at Steve.
"You're customizing the food for your pretty picky girlfriend?"
Steve scoffed, trying to get pass the constant reminder that Eddie had a crush on his, in fact, pretty picky girlfriend.
"Don't you get tired?" Nancy starts, handing the food over to Jonathan who was placing the plates on the kitchen. Nancy liked you, you both were friends, but she could never stop with the snarky comments about you, like if she wanted you both to break up. "You know everything about her, but what does she know about you?"
Steve frowns, licking the chicken cream from his fingers and looking at Nancy, ready to speak, being interrupted by Eddie.
"She doesn't have to know about him. She's so pretty. She's making him a favor"
Steve frowns, hitting the back of Eddie's head with his clean hand and grinning at Nancy "What is that supposed to mean?"
"It's supposed to mean what I said" she chuckles, waiting to speak again as she hears the door crack, noticing it was only Robin entering the kitchen "Ask her anything about you, she won't know how to answer"
"What're we talking about?" Robin said, sneaking into the counter to stole one of the cupcakes reserved for dessert, the ones she's been eyeing since Vicky started baking "My God, these are amazing. If I could I'll marry that woman. Probably when we're 80 or sum"
"We're talking about how Y/N never pays attention to Steve when he's talking"
"But that's because everyone knows she has a short spawn of attention" Eddie defends.
"Dude, seriously, what's this thing you have for my girlfriend?" Eddie just shrugs "And Y/N knows everything about me. I'm an open book"
That thought hold onto Steve's mind. He enjoyed the food next to you, the table share jokes and everyone laughed. It was the perfect moment, everything felt so warm and homely but Steve's mind always came back to 'Ask her anything about you', thinking about how he has ever hear her comment on something he liked, while he couldn't take her, or her likings out of his mouth, because she was everything he could think about, day and night.
"I want to buy a shirt" He commented out of the blue while driving his car back to her home "For the, um, the dinner at Vicky's place"
"There's a dinner at Vicky's?" You asked, turning your head to Steve and smiling at him. "It's the one for her birthday party?" Steve nods and you rest a hand in his thigh, waiting for the traffic light to change to green. "How do you want it to be?"
"My favorite color"
He simply answer and you nod, taking back your hand when he starts driving again. "black?"
And Steve felt maybe more hurt than he had to. His favorite color was not a big deal, he wasn't even sure if he had one but black wouldn't to it. Maybe for Eddie, maybe even for Mike or Max but he has never show any particular interest towards black.
"That's not..." He whispers "That's not my favorite color"
Steve glances at you and sees you frowning, as if you were sure that's his favorite color, "... green?"
"God, do you even know...?" He snaps, holding the 'me' back in his throat, not wanting to make a big deal out of this, his hold in the steering wheel tightening, his words and tone sounding more harsh than he wants too. "How can you not know? That's a basic fact about... well, everyone"
"You've never mention it"
And the rest of the night, back at his home, in his own room, Steve tries to remember all of your conversations, trying to get to the one when he mentions what his favorite color is.
"Hi, Stevie" You smile, your face being the first thing he sees when he opens his eyes "How did you sleep?"
And if you knew him well enough, you should've known, he hates being wake up.
"Fine" he answers, his voice lacking that soft, loving tone it always had when he talked to you, you placed it in the excuse he was still sleepy. "I slept fine"
He pushed you to the other side of the bed to take off the blankets and get off the bed, walking to the bathroom without even kissing you.
The 'good morning kiss' was something Steve never forgets, he claims he needs it after spending the whole time he was sleeping without your lips; 'I don't mind you, just you, waking me up if it's with a kiss. If that means I can get to see your face first thing in me morning'.
He said one day, so now you weren't understanding what was so wrong that he couldn't even spare a smile at you.
"Stevie, are you alright?"
And if you knew him enough, you would have known he hates when someone calls him Stevie. It's childish, it takes off the strong meaning of his name and makes him feel like you were taking a bit of his masculinity.
But if he wasn't too stuck in that state of mind, he would've remember how he turned into a cry baby when you stopped calling him 'Stevie' after hearing that he didn't like it, only to tell you that you were the only one allowed to call him that.
He passed his hands though his face and started the shower, waiting for the cold water to come out and slowly putting his body inside it, feeling the warming drops travel down his body.
"Stevie, are you alright?" He mocked, in a lower tone, sharpening his voice to an annoying tone, missing your silhouette standing on the door frame. "M' fucking alright"
You frown, being new to this kind of anger, or whatever feeling he was demonstrating. "If you don't want me here I can go"
You let out, the hurt in your tone being demonstrated as you saw Steve's head peaking out of the curtain; "I said I was fine"
"Yes, and I don't doubt you I'm just saying if me being here interfieres with you being fine I can just go"
Steve scoffs, getting his head back to the shower and growling under his breath.
"If you were a... better, no, not better, you need to be good to be better" He starts "Maybe if you were a good girlfriend, you wouldn't interfiere to me being fine"
"You don't think I'm a good girlfriend?" You ask, clearly hurt, fighting back the tears because if Steve was speaking to you like this, that meant he was going through something, and he didn't mean to be rude, he was just feeling overwhelmed "Alright..." You started, in a soft voice, not wanting to leave his side if something was bothering him "How can... how can I start being a good girlfriend, then?" You asked, bitting your lip while trying not to cry because Steve is never like this. "What can I do?"
And if he wasn't too stuck in his own delusional thoughts he would've notice how much he was hurting you, how he was doing the thing he never thought he would; making you doubt yourself.
Because Steve was your number one fan, he was there in everything you did, he was there to cheer for you and make a big fuss when you got what you wanted and he was there to blame it on everyone else when you got sad for not having the expected results.
"What can you do?" He asks, incredulous, as if this was a problem your relationship had been dragging for too long. And maybe it was, you weren't sure anymore. "Maybe you could start for... I don't know, being more like Nancy was. Hell, even Robin could act like a better girlfriend for me and she's a lesbian"
There were too little things you couldn't possibly stand from Steve. And Nancy was one of them, not because you didn't like her, but from the beginning of your relationship you were always self-aware she was hard to fight against. And you weren't competing to see if you could make Steve love you more than Nancy, and since the beginning of your relationship he never make you doubt his love.
So Steve has been thinking how would it be to have other girls as his girlfriend, because if he could shout that as fast as he did, maybe he has thought it over.
"I don't know what you want me to do"
You answer, your voice low and broken, now tears were streaming down your cheeks and Steve only groaned at them, as if your feelings weren't valid in that moment.
He pushed you out of the bathroom and saw you standing there, glossy eyes and body tensed "Maybe you could start by knowing me, or paying attention to me. I mean, that's so basic and you can't even fucking know what's your boyfriend's favorite color. How pathetic is that?" You miss his face when the door is closed in your face. "Fuck me if I ever find a girl like you again"
He ended the conversation with a high note, and you could only think about the fact that he broke up with you, locking you outside of the bathroom and making you feel like the worst girlfriend ever.
And there you were, hours ago thinking you were fine. Because he made it look like.
The rest of the day was hell, you sat on your bed waiting for some sort of miracle to happen and tell you this wasn't real. The fight never happened and the love of your life didn't point out you were a terrible girlfriend before breaking up with you.
"Where's Y/N?" Eddie asked, watching Steve arriving to his trailer for movie night, the only ones there being Robin and Vicki, who always arrive early to pick the best sits on Eddie's couch and not having to sit on the floor. "I don't want you to think we're friends just because you bring her around but... where is she?"
"I think we broke up" Eddie opens his eyes and Robin runs to the door as soon as she heard "Well, I think I broke up with her"
"Why the hell would you do that, you asshole?" Robin snaps, looking at him incredulous, wondering why he would ever break up with the love of his life.
"Well, like you guys said the other day, she doesn't know me"
"We didn't say that, it was Nancy" Eddie defends.
"Yeah, but she was right, she doesn't know me"
"And how did you found out this?"
"For a lot of things" He snaps "She didn't even know my favorite color"
"Black?" Eddie answered.
"Green?" Robin tried when Steve looked at Eddie frowning, only to look at her looking even more offended.
"Those are not my favorite colors!"
"And why are you wearing them all the time?"
"All the time?"
"You always use those ugly old sneakers with the green light, your pants are always either black or dark jean. The shirt you wear the most has this green circle around your neck, your socks are always black or white with green or black lines"
Robin was wrong, Steve favorite color was dark purple but Robin knowing all of this meant he was still right; "How do you know that?"
"Because when Y/N was looking for something to buy for you for your Christmas gif she made all this analysis just to conclude that your favorite color was green or black"
"Steve..." Eddie started "No one really knows what you like I mean, you built your personality around Y/N. You started to let your hair grown because she said once, once!, You looked better with long hair. You decided rom-coms were your favorite because she said she enjoyed them more when you were around. You stopped liking soda when she suddenly decided she wouldn't drink them anymore"
"How do you even know that?"
"You told us!" Robin shouts "All the time, is the only think you talk about; 'Y/N and I cut soda off out diets', 'Y/N and I have decided we're just watching rom-coms by ourselves so don't chose them on movie night', you're unbearable"
"I think I made a mistake" Steve regrets.
"Oh, did you, Sherlock?" Robin answers.
Steve left before Eddie could add something, getting on his car and driving to your home. Suddenly feeling thankful to live in Hawkins and having clear streets.
He nocks on your door, one, two, three times, your cries are too loud and your face is too stuffed in your pillows to hear him.
Is your mom who ends up letting him in, not knowing everything that was going on between you two.
Steve is nice enough to nock on your door, but he enters anyway, not waiting for you to respond, and he looks at your glossy eyes and red nose.
"Baby..." he tries.
"What are you doing here, Steve?"
"I'm sorry" You don't look at him, but you don't stop him either, so he sits next to you in the mattress and caresses your hair before you slap his arm and cover your body completely with the blanket. "I was a shitty boyfriend"
"Well, you had to show me how bad I am"
"You're not a bad girlfriend at all, darling" He sighs "I was, I was stuck in my head. My mind wouldn't let me alone and I thought you didn't know me and I was the only one putting some effort into this relationship"
"That I didn't know you?" You ask, emerging from the blankets and looking at him, frowning "What's that supposed to mean? Of course I know you, I know you never act like how you did yesterday, I knew something was going on but you wouldn't talk to me about it, I tried to address the situation and fix it but you made it bigger. I know you don't care if I know what your favorite color is because you change it every week. I know you don't play D&D but your curiosity is killing you. I know you really, really, want to drink soda again but you don't do it because a part of you thinks you owe me that. I know you scrunch your face when you're confused and I know you cried when Eddie graduated because you thought maybe he couldn't do it."
"M' sorry" He says, embarrassed, hiding his face on your lap covered by the blanket.
"Steve... love is not an exam. I don't need to have the right answers and you don't either. If you don't know something about me, it's not a big deal. You, we, have plenty of time to find that out, and if you forget I would spend the rest of my days reminding you what my favorite color is. And I would spend every week learning what's your new favorite color" You kiss his nose "I love you, and I don't have to know you as much as I love you"
"I know you almost as much as I love you"
"Because knowing me is how you show me you love me. Sticking around you, being there for you, going everywhere you want me to, is how I show you I love you"
"I'm sorry I was a shitty boyfriend" He said, holding you into a thigh hug "I'm sorry I made you feel like a bad girlfriend, you're amazing, you're more than what I deserve"
"I know" You pat his back "I'm sorry I believed it"
He chuckles, holding your face with his big hands and kissing your lips; "and I'm really sorry I let your pretty lips spend so much time far from mines"

Stuck Between a Jock and a Metalhead
Summary: Nancy, on a whim, decides to visit Steve at Scoops Ahoy, which leads to her overhearing confessions from Steve that leads her to think about the decisions she's made. A few days later, she decides to come back. She finds him being hit on by the town freak. What's a girl to do? Oh, get stuck in a freezer with the both of them.
A/N: Oops, I made this chapter a little angsty. I do love Nancy now, flaws and all. Oh, the title is a play on for stuck between a rock and a hard place. Thought it was funny.
Chapter One
Nancy Wheeler was confident in her decisions, to say the least. She never really doubted when she was in the right. It was a constant struggle, though, to look at someone's else's side of things. It was why she loved looking at the facts, put plain and simply before her. The facts are that she was interning at the local newspaper and that the news reporters seemed to hate women or look down on them at least. They surely didn't respect them.
"I mean, like what year are we in now? There are tons of female news reporters. Get ahead of the times!" Nancy complained.
"Well, there's a reason why people call this town so conservative. Will this town ever be willing to change?" Steve asked, shaking an invisible magic eight ball. "Sources say: unlikely. I mean, now, they really won't be subject to change with the way this mall moved in and took away their businesses."
"The same mall you work at?" Nancy asked in amusement. "By the way, what the hell are you wearing?"
"I can't believe you're just now noticing. This is my uniform," Steve said and flipped the hat back onto his head.
Nancy had stopped by Scoops Ahoy after coming into the mall to try to find Holly a birthday gift. She had spotted Steve behind the counter and had to stop in. Now, here they were, in the back room conversing like old friends. Steve stood up from the table and slowly twirled around before striking a pose. His back was to her, and he peered over his shoulder, his hand over his mouth as though he was shocked. His rear end was sticking out. He looked like he got caught doing something he shouldn't. Nancy burst into a fit of giggles.
"You're an idiot, Steve Harrington," Nancy said softly.
"And you're - uh - anyway, yes, this is my uniform. It's completely fucking embarrassing but not as embarrassing as being too stupid to get into anywhere," Steve said.
"Despite what I said before, you're not stupid. Although, you can be an idiot at times. It's not who you are, and if your dad ever makes you feel like that, then just send him my way. I'll kick his ass," Nancy said.
"You're the only person in the world I believe could actually take that asshole," Steve said.
"Thanks. I should probably go. I told mom I would be home soon," Nancy said, getting up.
"One thing first, and I'm not sure it was my place to say, but this job of yours. . .you're not getting paid, your skills aren't being put to good use, you have to ask what else am I getting out of this? What else am I learning?" Steve asked.
"Well, I'm learning what not to do," she said, and he laughed.
"You know, it's okay to give up something that's not working for you, and it's okay to fight for it. Whatever decision that works best for you, Nancy, it's okay," Steve said.
"Stop saying okay. I hate that word," Nancy said softly.
It made her stomach turn the way he said it softly, reminding her of the way he said it that night he told her to go with Jonathan. A small portion of guilt nestled in her stomach. She shook it away and smiled.
"It was good to see you again, Steve," Nancy said. "We should talk again soon."
"Definitely," Steve grinned. "Did I help at all?"
"Yeah, actually, you did," Nancy said.
As she walked out of the break room, she passed Steve’s co-worker Robin. She gave Nancy the stink eye. She wondered if it was because she thought there was something between her and Steve. Was Robin jealous of her? Did she want to date Steve? Or was she dating Steve? God, Nancy hoped not. She blushed, realizing that she had no right to be jealous of someone she didn't have any interest in anymore. . .or did she? Nancy walked briskly away, moving out of the parlor and towards the exit as quickly as possible. Halfway towards the exit, Nancy realized that she had left her purse. When she walked back in, there was a closed for lunch sign out front. She went in and headed towards the break room. She paused by the door when she heard her name.
"You're friends with your ex?" Robin asked. "That's a little. . . Unusual."
"I take what I can get," Steve said.
"What does that mean?" She asked and paused. "What? Are you still in love with her?"
Nancy sucked in a breath and waited hopefully for the right answer.
"I mean, I don't know. I guess so. How does one fully stop loving Nancy Wheeler?" Steve asked. "I just want her to be happy. If Jonathan makes her happy, then I'm happy, too."
"It doesn't kill you inside every time you hang out to see her with another guy?" Robin asked.
"Well, this is the first time we hung out in a while. After it all. . .ended, Nancy invited me to have lunch with her Jonathan, but I couldn't. . .it was too painful. I spent lunch in my car blasting Careless Whisper and crying. I got my heart broken, and I didn't have any friends. I mean, the friends I had I walked away from. They were assholes, yes, but I knew Tommy all of my life, and he wasn't always like that. My parents were never home, still aren't, and I just had no one. The kids I started to babysit helped a lot, but considering they were kids and one of them was Nancy's brother, I couldn't exactly talk to them about this," Steve said. "Before we broke up, I tried everything to befriend Jonathan because I knew how much he meant to Nancy. I guess I just didn't want to admit how much."
Nancy pressed her hand to her mouth, tears filling her eyes as she tried to muffle her sobs. She didn't know anything about all of that or the fact that Steve tried to make friends with Jonathan.
"You didn't want to lose her. The fact that you tried to befriend him says a lot about you," Robin said. "I wouldn't have been able to do that."
"I can't hate her for making the choice that she did. I was never enough to be it for her, but I respect her choice even if I don't like it. I can't force her - " Steve choked up. "I can't force her to love me."
"So pathetic," Robin said softly with a hint of affection and Steve laughed.
"Definitely pathetic," Steve said and paused. "I miss her so much that it's stupid. I just wish that I could move on. I think I'm trying too hard. I guess I can't force that either."
"I think I can help with that," Robin said in a mischievous voice. "It requires me taking over the whiteboard, though. What are your preferences?"
"Men, women," Steve said.
"I meant like how do you want me to tease you mercilessly while I do this, but that is. . . That is good to know," Robin said. "Um, right, thanks for telling me."
Crying softly, Nancy quietly and quickly walked away. She'd get her purse some other time. She ran all the way to the bathroom and locked herself in a stall. What he had said then was something she always suspected about Steve, but she never asked, never wanted to be pushy about that part of his life in case he wasn't aware, but turns out, he was. It was all the other stuff that was overwhelming her. She couldn't stop picturing Steve alone in his car, crying. She had so wanted to believe that he had been fine, that he wouldn't be affected by what happened. Or maybe she just hoped that he wouldn't care because it was easier to escape the fact that she fucked up. She didn't intend to hurt Steve, but she did it anyway, and maybe there was another reason why she didn't want to think about how he felt or that moment at the school. She didn't want to think about him walking away from her after begging her to tell him that she loved him. She didn't want to think about him telling her it was okay or hearing him call himself a shitty boyfriend. It was easier to ignore all of that than to admit that she didn't feel like she deserved him.
Jonathan doesn't deserve for her to think that way either because her relationship with him means something, doesn't it? Everything happened so quickly. Maybe that was why she wanted it to happen so fast. Why she had acted the way she did with her feelings for Jonathan? She wanted to destroy her relationship with Steve, to make him hate her the way she hated herself, and she wanted him to feel guilty the way that she did with Barb. She was so mad at her before she died. Why couldn't Barb have understood that it was her choice to have sex with Steve? That the moment he talked to her, it was decided, and the very moment his lips touched hers. She bought a new bra, bought a new sweater, and she even lied to her mom about why she needed birth control.
"This isn't you, Nance," Barb had said.
"Why couldn't you have just gone home?" Nancy whispered to the empty bathroom.
The real person she wanted to be angry with was Barb, and how grotesque was that? How could she be angry at Barb for being in the wrong place at the wrong time? No, because if Barb had gone home and just let her make her choice, then Barb would still be alive. Nancy's stomach rolled. That's what Steve represented, not his guilt because he did nothing, but her own for being so angry with Barb before she died and for being angry after. The real person to be angry with, she knew, was Dr. Brenner. He was the man who started all of this, who led Barbara to her death. If she could bring him back and kill him again, she'd kill him a thousand times. She couldn't go down that road again. She knew the risks she took when she sought justice for Barb. She risked the whole damn town to do it. She wasn't sure she could put something like on Steve again because she still loved him, and he deserved better than that. Nancy wiped her face and came out of the bathroom to find Robin leaning against the wall. She was holding her purse.
"You left this. I saw you run in here. Damn, you're fast," Robin said and handed her the purse.
"Thanks," Nancy said, taking the purse and Robin narrowed her eyes at her.
"You came back for the purse. You heard us," Robin said, and Nancy didn't say anything. "You still love him."
"He deserves better," Nancy said.
"Doesn't he also deserve to make that choice for himself?" Robin asked.
"I - why do you care so much?" Nancy asked.
"I'm a firm believer in second chances. Without them, I wouldn't be here. My mother thought she'd never see my father again or to tell how she felt, but the chance came around again, so . . . Here I am," Robin said, raising her hands up in a shrug. "Gotta believe that there's hope for everyone."
Nancy stared at her for a moment, trying to figure her out. She washed her hands and dried them off.
"Don't tell Steve about this," Nancy said softly.
"Tell him what?" Robin shrugged and left the bathroom.
When Nancy walked into the house, Holly was playing barber shop with Mike's hair while he screeched that she was pulling his hair on purpose. Judging by the mischievous look on Holly's face, she was. Nancy smiled and shook her head before walking into the kitchen where her mother was making lunch.
"Hey, Nance. Did you find what you were looking for at the mall?" Karen asked.
"I think so," Nancy said softly as she stared at her mother.
She realized then where the choice she made with Jonathan was leading her. It was the path that she thought Steve would lead her down to: an unhappy marriage. She still liked Jonathan right now, and she wanted to continue to like him. Not that her mom didn't love her dad. It's just that she didn't like him very much. She wanted a partner that she not only liked but loved as well.
"We like Steve, but we don't love Steve," Murrary had taunted.
Nancy blushed furiously. He had been wrong. She should have said something then, defended Steve then because it was true. She liked Steve, and she loved him too. As much as she cared for Jonathan, as much as she liked him, she didn't love him the way that she loved Steve. The more she thought about Steve, the more she started to remember everything that she loved about their relationship. She remembered nights when they would curl up and watch Tom Cruise movies. They would both gush and giggle over him. Thinking about it now, he definitely had a crush on him like she did. She remembered watching him bake, and when a Bob Seger song came on, he would pull her in his arms to dance. He wasn't afraid to let her lead either. It wasn't just Bob Seger. It was Queen, Bowie, and Madonna. Occasionally, it was stuff like Eddie Van Halen, too. She loved the fact that he didn't just have a particular genre that he loved. He appreciated all sorts. And when she had to babysit Holly, he would come over to help, and he was always so good with her. He was good with both Holly and Mike. She loved the way that he wasn't afraid to be an absolute dork. Her dad was a quiet man, but he always some managed to pull a conversation out of Ted, and he loved to help her mother in the kitchen. She remembered all if without the cloud of guilt weighing her down.
"Nancy, honey, are you okay?" Karen asked.
"I messed everything up," Nancy burst into tears.

(part 2) A Deep Dive into Milkvan and Byler's Development: If Milkvan's Destined Endgame, Why's it Written Like This???
The decision to confirm Will to be in love with MIKE is wild, and I'll tell you why.
When you add a third party to a t.v show relationship, if the first relationship isn't perfect, people gunna start rooting for the third party. Take Stancy for instance.
Throughout s2, we got the vibes that Jonathan held feelings for Nancy. This was clear. But Nancy was still with Steve. This means, in order for us not to sympathize more for Jonathan, Nancy and Steve gotta be ✧ tight ✧. I mean, their issues must be kept at a low, and at the end of the day it's gotta be clearer to us that Nancy does in fact love Steve. Welp, that wasn’t the case. Stancy's relationship ✧ struggled ✧, justifying intimate moments between Nancy and Jonathan - making us feel as if he'd be better for her after all. A smart writing choice, as Duffers intended Jancy as season 2's endgame pairing.
Now, I'd like to point out the foreshadowing of this development.
Come the wrapping up of s1, and it seemed Nancy had retreated back to Steve.
Tumblr media
They'd clearly reconciled and - to an outsider - all would appear to be going smoothly. But us as the audience know that not to be the case.
One reason? Well, she'd just shared a suggesting moment with Jonathan.
Tumblr media
So our minds weren't on Steve and this show of his with Nancy. Rather, we read into Nancy's slight discomfort, and wondered if perhaps she'd prefer being with Jonathan instead.
This was of course intentional. I'd like to briefly bring to attention the similarities in these moments to ones at the end of s3 - between Mike and Will, and then Mike and El.
Tumblr media
Here a conclusion to milkvan's seasonal drama is made, them seemingly staying together, parting on good terms. Hm. And milkvan's moment is.. kinda like stancy's. They got back together because, well, El said she loves Mike. And Steve loves Nancy. And Mike loves El right? The way Nancy loved Steve- But just, coincidentally, we have byler's reconciliation too.
Tumblr media
This came before the guy's makeup with El, because, why? This was quite the interesting decision mates. It means that whilst he spends that moment with his girlfriend, our minds are fresh off of Will. People might read into the way he's acting in contrast, just maybe, the way they did during stancy. And people did. That's a bit of a fumble on the writers' part, if you ask me. I know you're trying to let us know that Mike's now on good terms with both members, and his and El's goodbye needs to be the dramatic finishing of the season, but, man, did byler even have to make up at all here you guys? I mean this miscommunication of theirs lasts through to s4 (just like janc-). Why not sort their good terms out later or earlier on, so that we have more mindspace here to focus solely on milkvan, our main main? Or at least, why not just have Mike apologize to Will and be done with it? He could even apologize alongside Lucas, making the moment less personal. And Will could simply forgive him, give a dudely pat it out, and that's it. We wash our hands.
But nah. There's this electricity in the air. The swelling music, the prolonged looks, this doesn't.. seem like a simple make up. It's startlingly short, making us feel as if there have been things left unsaid. And that line,
".. Not possible."
It's so... implying. What do you mean? Why are you looking at eachother like that? What am I meant to get from this scene?
And it isn't a closing reconciliation either, they haven't properly ended their season's drama. I mean no one even apologized for the argument, we're just sort of left with this. Left with the hint of a story that might be further explored - their moment coming off more as anticipation for what's to come than a conclusion. Maybe just a bit like Jonathan and Nancy s1.
But so what? That does not have to mean anything romantic between them is to be told. After all, El just expressed to Mike that she loves him. This means that these sweethearts are practically fortold as endgame, right?
Alright I'll stop stalling.
Season 4.
So. Will is in love with Mike now. Huh. Well, I don't recommend this. As I said, you risk people rooting for Will beyond their hopes for Mike and El as a couple. If this is a plotline you desire, it has to be navigated with precision. So this means that milkvan must be on their A game. Struggle between them has got to be handled delicately. As we see in stancy, and as we saw in s3, just making up at the end of it all isn't good enough. You can risk this mistake once, but we must like these guys together throughout season 4, more than we sorrow for Will. Infact, Will's feelings must not be made too big of a deal. Mike and El are going to stay together, so we should feel a bit sorry for him, but not gather any hope that things will actually work out to his favour.
Like Dustin in s2. He sprouted small feelings for Max, and so did Lucas. Lumax were the endgame, so Dustin's feelings were craftly navigated and not made more important than Max and Lucas' bond. We don't really feel that Dustin is in love with Max, moreso that he likes her and has some moments of jealousy aimed at Lucas. Noone really wanted him with her more than they rooted for Lumax, though we did sympathize for him and feel bad for him regardless.
So yeah, this can easily be written out for Will too. If his story's purpose is meant for the exploration of a gay kid navigating a still homoph#bic time, then there's a lot that can be done without even having to spare much screen time between him and Mike. Focus on his fear of judgement from Jonathan moreso maybe, or have Argyle say something - it can be whatever, mention something homoph#bic, mention something not homoph#bic and give Will hope, whatever - which sets off a thought or idea for Will that prepares his arc for the season.
Back to Mike and El - so we want a 'scared to say "I love you"' subplot. That's good, that good. Fleshes out Mike, plays into El's fears. Shouldn't be too hard.
There's already a mild problem though. This plot is playing out twice at once. We have our boy Will hosting this same fear of rejection by Mike - at least that's how things have been shot. His dread is portrayed through his restraint and timidity in revealing his painting to Mike. Will's painting is basically his version of a confession - the guy too selfless, shy and afraid to express his love outright.
So playing out this storyline at the double is.. a choice. I mean, Mike telling El he loves her is a big deal for the milkvans, shouldn't this romance dominate as much screen time as possible in order to be fully pumped up without any sidetracks to other insignificant in comparison feelings? S3 was already quite clumsy, why not have Mike and El's activities soak in all viewers' engrossment without any departures? Maybe spend a bit of time demonstrating how likeable and wholesome they actually are together. Now that we have Will's affection ontop it all, what's important is that Mike and El's camera time spent matters. They can be angsty, they can withhold some misunderstandings, but they still have to be a good. couple.
Oh yeah, also, Mike should blatantly display feelings for El and El only - duh.

It was supposed to be fun. Joyce and Hopper were going to be out for the night, trusting Jonathan and Arglye(mostly Jonathan) to hold down the fort. They were all going to be hanging out at the Byers' place. Eddie and the rest of Hellfire(which now included Will) were going to play, while El, Max, and the rest of the older teens hung out with them.
Except things didn't go as planned. Robin and Steve had gotten there first. Jonathan had told them to go on in, that he, Argyle, and Will were taking the van to get the other kids and they will be right back. He had said Corroded Coffin boys and Nancy should be there soon and to let them in.
Robin and Steve had been hanging out, killing time until everyone got back, when they had spotted a tray of brownies in the Byers' kitchen. They of course each opted to grab one. But unfortunately, Argyle had made these brownies and they had a very fun secret ingredient.
Needless to say by the time Nancy got there, they were found laying on the floor in a giggling fit. They probably should have split a brownie with their potency. She let herself in when no one answered the door. Now she was standing over them. She could tell they weren't sober.
"How high are you two?" She asks looking down at them.
They both laugh with Robin reaching up to grab Nancy’s hand. Luckily for Nancy, she was too stoned to notice the blush on her face. "Nance, your the one who is high. Look how far up you are!" She says as they both laugh harder. Robin gently tugs on Nancy’s arm and continues. "Come on, get down here. Please? I want you to pet my hair."
Steve sits up. "You can lay in my lap, and I'll pet your hair, Robs."
She sits up, too, leaning close to Steve. She tries to whisper. "Shhh, Steve. I'm trying to flirt with Nancy." He smiles. And by the flustered look on Nancy’s face, she definitely did not succeed in whispering.
Steve giggles again. "You heard the girl, Nance." He winks.
"Shut up, Stevie!" She says, hitting his shoulder. "Or I'm going to tell her how Eddie's your stupid boyfriend and that you guys are gross and love dovey."
Steve hides his face in his hands, laughing in the process. "Oh my God! You just told her!" They both burst out laughing again.
Nancy has been watching this unfold. She has a lot to unpack here. But right now, these two idiots were too high to talk about anything. So she takes the simplest route. She walks to the kitchen, and gets her own brownie. If you can't beat them join them.
When Jonathan and Argyle get back with the kids, Eddie and the Corroded Coffin boys still aren't there. But they do walk in on a very high trio, with Robin laying in Nancy’s lap as she cards her fingers through her hair. They are all laughing hysterically as the group finds them. Argyle and Jonathan know right away they are stoned, and just shrug their shoulders. The kids poke fun at them, but it's okay. They are all still having fun. Honestly, it was funny to watch as Max explained to El what was going on.
Minutes later, though, Eddie, Gareth, Jeff, and Caleb walk in, and that's when all hell breaks loose. As soon as Eddie walks in, Steve blurts out. "Eddie, sunshine! Come here, I want you to hold me..." He makes grabby hands at him.
Immediately, everyone except Robin and Nancy stare between Eddie and Steve in confusion. Eddie goes bright red, realizing his beautiful, perfect, dumbass boyfriend just outed them both. He doesn't mind but is worried sober Steve will.
"Stevie, let's maybe talk about this later, huh?" He says gently.
But then Steve, honest to god, pouts. "Whhhyy?" He whines."Do you not like me anymore, Eds?"
"Oh my god." Eddie says in exacerbation. Jeff, Gareth, and Caleb are snickering behind him, as are Jonathan and Argyle, everyone catching on. The kids, who are also catching on decide to be little shits.
"That's fucked up, Eddie." Dustin laughs. "Don't you like Steve anymore?"
"Yea, what's your problem, Eds." Max adds pointedly.
Everyone is snickering now except for the high trio on the living floor, watching Eddie expectantly. Steve is still pouting, but now has crossed his arms, looking like he is going to throw a tantrum.
Eddie can't help but smile to himself. Usually Steve is not this openly needy even around Robin and Gareth who already knew. So he decides to have some fun, and enjoy this. The cat is already out of the bag. He walks forward, sitting next to Steve, throwing his arms around Steve, until Steve is practically cuddling in his lap. "Better, princess?"
The name gets a few snickers, namely from Dustin, Max and Mike, but Steve doesn't mind. He is too high to care. So he just nods his head.
And that night, Jonathan captured a few pictures of everyone, including both Steve and Eddie AND Robin and Nancy cuddling. And that's how everyone found out Steve and Eddie were dating, as well as how Robin and Nancy first got together.

I'll be full of the love you want
rated t cw: self-doubt, relationship doubt, light angst tags: happy ending, hurt/comfort-ish, super fluffy romantic words being said
a/n: firstly I am writing this absolute fluff because i've been listening to sleep token and decided i could handle listening to blood sport (i couldn't) and so now we get this fluff. second of all, i feel like before anyone comes for my throat, i LOVE nancy. i hate what the duffer brothers have reduced her character to canonically. she has so much potential, just sitting there, and what are they doing with it? making her worse. i do think that she is just very bad at reading what's appropriate to say to people, and that's what happens here. assume that it gets fixed and she apologizes later, this entire thing is to focus on the boys.
Sometimes, Nancy’s subtle comments remained in Steve’s chest, an unbearable weight that felt crushing.
“Eddie has plans, and they may not involve you.”
That’s what she’d said to him when he told her they were dating.
No congratulations, no friendly smile or hug, not even the expected game of 20 questions.
The words played on loop in his head as he found an excuse to leave movie night early, as he drove home, as he took a shower.
He barely slept that night.
Nancy was right in a way; Eddie did have plans.
—-
“She what?” Eddie yelled.
“Eds-”
“No, that’s. Stevie, you know how ridiculous that is, don’t you?”
He did.
But he also…didn’t.
It really wasn’t that ridiculous to think that maybe his boyfriend of barely a month would have plans that didn’t involve Steve.
Steve may be head over heels in love with him, but he hadn’t said that.
“Is it?” Steve asked, not looking up at Eddie pacing in front of him.
Eddie stopped in front of him, dropping to his knees on the floor between Steve’s parted legs.
His hands gripped Steve’s knees, squeezing in silent comfort.
“Sweetheart, I know it’s hard for you to believe, but I’m all in with us. I’m not going anywhere that you can’t or don’t want to follow. If someone sends me to the moon, you better start packing your bags,” Eddie left a kiss on his thigh, looking up at Steve’s wide, glassy eyes. “I don’t think she meant to hurt you, Stevie. I’d just talked to her about the band possibly going to Chicago for a show soon and how excited we were about producers being there.”
“And if they like you guys, you’ll leave. And you should! I don’t wanna hold you back. I just was so wrapped up in the now, ya know?”
Eddie looked up at him, eyes squinting at him for a moment before he stood up.
He sat down on the bed and pulled Steve onto him so he was straddling his thighs.
“You are more than just my now, Steve Harrington.”
Steve’s heart fluttered in his chest.
Eddie cupped his face in his hands, leaning his head down so their foreheads rested against each other.
“We’ve seen the end of the world together, we’ve seen each other at our worst, at our bruised, at our most vulnerable. You’re my entire world now, and in the future.” Eddie let out a shaky breath, something foreign for him, usually so confident in his words. “I love you. It might scare you off, but I do. I haven’t stopped picturing my future with you in it. Nothing could drag me away from you, not the band, not the kids, not myself. I’m yours, for the long haul, wherever that takes both of us.”
Steve sniffled, the tears pooling in his eyes fighting so hard to fall.
“You can’t say stuff like that,” he squeaked out.
“Why can’t I?”
“I might believe it.”
Eddie tugged him closer, one hand on the back of his head holding him against his shoulder, one arm wrapped around his waist.
“I need you to believe it, love. There is nothing that will keep me from loving you. If Vecna himself couldn’t, then Nancy’s words sure as shit won’t.”
And it could be simple.
It could.
Steve could believe it, he could say the words back, he could plan a real future with Eddie, something he’d never been able to do with anyone else.
“You’re thinking too hard,” Eddie interrupted his thoughts, his hand squeezing Steve’s hip.
Steve pulled back, looking at Eddie’s earnest face.
“I’m scared to love you the way that I do,” Steve admitted, voice barely more than a whisper.
Eddie heard him, though.
He beamed up at Steve.
“You can be scared, but you can love me anyway,” Eddie shrugged, as if it could actually be that simple.
Love was a silly thing.
Steve felt it easily, for Robin, for the kids, for the Byers’, even Nancy still. He’d known what he felt for Eddie was love way before this conversation, but he hadn’t realized how much that love could grow when it was reciprocated.
Eddie looked at him now like he already knew, like Steve holding back wasn’t changing the fact that Steve had loved him for months now, maybe even longer.
“You can love me, Stevie. I want you to love me. Love me the way you feel,” Eddie continued.
His words cut through his heart, but in a different way than Nancy’s had.
Steve never got to love people the way he felt, always too much, always overwhelming.
His parents taught him not to be needy, let people show their love from a distance and don’t force your attention and care on them.
Nancy taught him that he couldn’t be someone else just because he wanted to love someone, that he had to accept that love wasn’t always enough for a relationship.
Eddie, though.
Eddie had taught him that there was nothing shameful about being loud with your passion, with your love. He taught him that he can’t hold back his feelings, not for anyone, especially not for himself.
He was showing him, more every day, that loving someone can and should be fulfilling.
He couldn’t be scared of loving Eddie, not when Eddie had always shown him how to be brave.
“I love you so much,” Steve gasped out.
It wasn’t the declaration he’d planned, or even wanted, but that somehow made it better for them.
Eddie’s beaming smile proved that even further.
“I’m so in love with you, I don’t know what to do with it all. I just keep thinking that one day I’ll wake up and feel less, but I just keep feeling more. I’m not good with words like you are, but I love you,” Steve added, finally gaining his voice.
“Feels good, right?”
“To love you?”
Eddie leaned up, kissed his chin, then the corner of his mouth.
“To show it to someone who wants it.”
Steve bit his lip, realizing that yeah, it did feel good. Really good.
“You’re gonna get so tired of me loving you.”
It was said as a joke, but it was his last genuine fear. The one thing that he knew always happened.
“I will never get tired of you loving me. Not for a single second. Not even when we’re old dudes sitting on our porch yelling at the kids with the loud music,” Eddie poked his side as he spoke.
“You won’t ever yell at anyone for loud music.”
“You never know. I could become a grumpy old man. Will you still love me?” Eddie pouted up at him.
“I think I’d love any version of you. Actually, I know I would.” “And you say I’m the sappy one.”

@steddielovemonth Day 27: Love is just a four-letter word. @sal-si-puedes
Tumblr media
Reading and writing had never come easy to Steve. Surprisingly, numbers had been easy, which definitely helped as he moved into retail later in life. Letters though, they were often his enemy.
Nancy was a big reason he even was able to graduate let alone write college essays. He'd have her check and recheck until all the letters sat in their correct spots.
Working at Scoops had been relatively easy, he learnt what flavours looked like rather than reading their labels, memorizing their menu by reading it over and over again until he was sure he knew everything on it.
Working at Family Video had been harder, a lot more titles and words to read. Miserably watching the letters jump into wrong places, often placing titles in B rather than D.
Robin helped, mentioned a cousin with dyslexia, suggested a doctor but after Starcourt you'd have to drag him to a doctor. Instead he mostly manned the till, stocked the candy and rewound tapes.
He thought about college again, thought about his future and what he wanted. He knew everything would involve reading though so he put a pin in that for later, although becoming a math teacher sounded nice, he liked numbers and kids.
Part of him was jealous that he couldn't be someone to read to Eddie as he lay in the hospital, all the kids took turns, he didn't even know if Eddie would want him to read to him.
Eddie brought a new wave of words to his life, but in loud rambles like Robin. Steve expressed how he wished he could read as much as Eddie, explaining his difficulties.
"I could read to you?"
Steve smiled at Eddie's blush.
"I'd like that."
It became a thing to chase away nightmares, soft words lulling the younger boy to sleep, Eddie never seemed to mind claiming a bedmate helped with the nightmares.
Now Steve was in a new predicament. Butterflies in his stomach every time Eddie would use his soft voice knowing Steve was almost asleep or when they'd curl up together every movie night.
"You like Eddie!"
"Ok we're just skipping over me liking guys, yes I like Eddie!"
"Has more talent than Tammy I'll give you that."
He sat at his desk now, surrounded by scrunched up pieces of paper, "This was a stupid idea!"
"What you working on, Stevie?"
Shit, was it 3 o'clock already!? He hadn't heard Eddie get here, he wasn't meant to see this yet, it wasn't perfect yet.
"Um, nothing?"
"That a question or a statement, sweetheart?" Eddie laughed softly walking over to the desk quickly peering over Steve's shoulder before Steve had a chance to cover it.
"Aw a Valentine's letter! Who's the lucky lady that has Steve Harrington writing, she must be pretty special." There was a tightness in Eddie's voice but Steve could only feel the flush rising in his cheeks.
"They are and they're always writing such lovely words I wanted to show them I was serious." Steve said hoping Eddie didn't pick up he didn't say she.
"Let me take a look, Stevie, you know I don't mind proofreading your stuff," the paper was in Eddie's hands before Steve could stop him.
Roses are red, but you only like black,
You're so brave, always having my back.
Valentine's Day, only one thing to do,
Telling you, how much I levo you!
Happy Valentine's Day Eddie!
Love your, Stevie
Steve wanted Hawkins to open up again just to swallow him up. Eddie was quiet which he never is which terrified Steve.
After a moment Eddie reached over Steve again grabbing the pencil and carefully crossing out a word in the poem.
I levo love you
"I love you too, sweetheart, spelling mistakes and all."
And that was something Steve didn't need any help reading.

This is set during the S3 finale. Happening between Starcourt and the "three months later" time jump.
Tumblr media
"Camping. Capital camp. Lowercase…ing," Steve says, trailing off at the end, his forehead wrinkling up in confusion as he clearly tries to think through the dumb thing he just said.
"Well, that kinda fell apart on you, didn't it, dingus?" Robin asks, arching her eyebrow in his direction.
"Shut up. You know what I mean. Camping! Fun!" Steve shouts, far too close to her face.
"Back off, Boogaloo. And I beg to differ. Camping is not fun. Camping is torture, and I'm not signing up to be tortured with you again. One and done, at least per summer, that's my official policy."
Steve gives her the eyes, but they aren't gonna work. She's immune to his wiles. The Harrington Charm doesn't do anything to her loins, unfortunately for him.
"No," she says, and that's that. End of discussion.
Three hours later, here she stands, right in the middle of Hunting & Camping, a store in town she never thought she'd ever have to step foot into.
"Steve, you know what lives in those woods. Do you have a death wish?"
"C'mon! There's been nothing, nada, since Starcourt. It's done. Over with. Gone. We can live our lives, go camping, anything we choose."
"Great. But we do not choose camping," Robin insists, "We aren't camping people, are we? There's no haircare in the woods, Steve. Think about that. Long and hard."
"Fine. You stay here. I'll go camping alone," Steve says, crossing his arms across his chest.
"You're not going camping alone!" she screeches, because he'll be killed for sure.
"You're right, I'm not. The kids are demanding to come along. So, it's me and Jonathan."
"Well, that sounds fun for the both of you. Who will come home with a black eye? History says-"
Steve interrupts, "Yeah, yeah. Exactly. So, you have to go. You and Nance. So the girls can come along. Joyce will allow El to go, but only if you ladies go, too."
"Chief Hopper will roll over in his grave if El goes camping with Mike Wheeler present. You and I both know that."
"Well, good thing he'll never know, I guess," Steve says, defiant. "C'mon, Buckley. Are you with me or not?"
She's always with him, now. That's just how it's gonna be, maybe forever. Or at least until they get eaten in the woods they have no damn business traipsing into.
"Fine, I'm with you. But mark me down as a hostage."
"Great, love to hear it," Steve says, a big smile on his face, and she reluctantly smiles back. It's contagious, even if she knows this is a terrible idea for many, many reasons.
The trek out to Skull Rock is pretty shitty, but she keeps up. Walking alongside the not so prissy Nancy Wheeler, Erica, El and Max. She should have worn better shoes. Steve should have told her to wear better shoes. Nancy is in hiking boots and Robin is not at all surprised that she's prepared for life in ways Robin will probably never be.
Up ahead, the boys are arguing, causing a ruckus, and Steve is clearly regretting this decision. Good. He should. This was a terrible idea of, like, epic proportions. Maybe worse than working in a mall with a Russian secret lair underneath it.
"How did you even get to come?" Robin asks Erica. Because she didn't expect her to be standing there on the curb with Lucas, her My Little Pony sleeping bag under her arm.
"Tina is covering for me, duh, so I can hang out with you nerds. Don't know why I even want to though," she says, snippy, and Robin grins. She's funny.
"Maybe we should have invited Tina," Robin says.
"And risk her seeing I even know you nerds? Absolutely not," Erica says, like she's totally disgusted, and Robin laughs.
"Okay, hot shot," she answers, watching as Nancy stops behind Steve and the boys, as they scout out a spot that might work.
"Here?" Jonathan asks, and Steve nods, agreeing.
Steve is finishing putting up the tents, all of them, because nobody is helping him, not even Nancy. He kind of had this coming, it was all his terrible idea.
"You hear that?" Steve asks, head turned towards the sky, like he's a damn dog.
"Hear what?" Robin asks. She doesn't hear anything. "Is it a monster? A bear? It better not be a bear, I swear-"
"It's not a bear. It's a guitar," Steve says, driving the last of the tent poles into the ground.
"A guitar? In the woods?" Who the hell would be playing a guitar in the woods. Probably some sort of demented fairy, destined to murder them all, given the opportunity.
"I hear what I hear, Buckley. I'm gonna investigate," Steve says.
"Well, it was good knowing you, Harrington," Robin answers, because everybody knows you don't go blundering into the woods, especially if it sounds like you're being lured there, for fuck's sake.
Steve would definitely be the first to die in a horror movie.
Except, she knows that's not true. He's more capable than she ever could have expected, especially for being such a big dingus.
Steve just waves her off, and starts stomping off into the underbrush. Heading towards the sound she definitely doesn't hear.
But after a little hesitation, she follows. He can't go alone. She knows what could happen if he does.
"I knew you'd come," he crows, pleased with himself.
"Shut up, dingus," she mutters, and the further they walk, the more she thinks Steve was right. There is the faint sound of a guitar.
And laughing.
Steve pushes apart the branches of a bush, just enough for them to see through it, together. Spying.
It feels familiar.
And there's the culprit, Eddie Munson from band, sitting around a fire with some other boys, playing his guitar. Jeff Williams, Jackie's older brother, is one of them, she's pretty sure.
They have a case of beer, and she's pretty certain that's the faint stench of weed hanging in the air.
"It's just Eddie Munson," Steve whispers, like she isn't aware of that.
"Yeah, I have eyes, I can see that it's Eddie and his cronies."
Steve lets the branches go, and she is sure they're gonna turn around and leave, but they aren't that lucky. Honestly, they'd have no luck at all if they didn't have bad luck.
"Hey! Who the fuck is there?" Eddie yells, the guitar playing ceasing.
Steve rolls his eyes, pushing forward, out into the open, "It's just me, Munson, cool your jets."
"What the fuck are you doing out here, Harrington?" Eddie asks, then clearly catches a glimpse of Robin, "Oh. I see."
"Ew, no, you see nothing," Robin says, feeling the urge to clear up that misunderstanding right away.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize band geek Robin Buckley was too good for King Steve Harrington."
"Way too good," she snarks, and Eddie laughs, really laughs, and Steve doesn't, but she can tell he's amused and not mad.
"If you're not out here to fuck, then what brings you two into our neck of the woods?" Eddie asks, slouching over towards them.
"Your neck of the woods? I'm the one that popularized this spot, I'll have you know," Steve snaps, bitchy, arms crossed.
Robin smiles.
"Is that so?" Eddie asks, tilting his head, offering Steve a big, predatory smile.
"Definitely sure that's so," Steve answers, not backing down.
"That's not how I've heard it," one of the other guys shouts from near the fire they've lit, and Robin isn't sure who he is.
"And you are? The forest authority?" Robin asks, challenging him.
"Yep. That's me," he snaps back, but doesn't offer up his name.
"That's just Gareth," Eddie says, "don't mind him."
Oh, no way. Gareth Jones? The goofy kid she had to deal with at her job at The Hawk last summer that drove her insane? His mother dropped him off nearly every afternoon, money in hand, and he always made a fucking mess with his popcorn and Reese's Pieces. He might be the number one reason she took the job at Scoops this summer, instead of going back to theater. Looking at him now, he's sure changed. Growth spurts are a bitch, she supposes.
"Nice hair," she snarks at him, looking at his poodle-looking head. He's clearly trying to grow it out, probably to be more like Eddie, but it just isn't there yet, and his curls definitely aren't making things easy on him.
"What are you doing out here, anyway? Dirty freak orgy?" Steve asks, and Robin doesn't know how she got so lucky to have such a bitchy boy as a best friend, but she loves her good fortune.
Eddie laughs, and she sees Steve smile at him.
"Why? You wanna join?" Eddie asks, leering, taking a lazy, sauntering step closer to Steve, assuming he'll back down. Eddie's hands are framing his belt buckle, drawing the eye, even her eye, and it's so gross but she's also very intrigued to see how this pans out.
Eddie's not gonna scare Steve with the fear of the queer, and she was right, Steve doesn't back down, like she knew he wouldn't.
"Maybe I do," Steve says, rubbing his lips together, tongue wetting them in a gross taunting way, and Robin wants to spray him with a garden hose, but doesn't have that option, so instead she just watches as Eddie's eyes flick down to Steve's slick, glossy lips.
Gross. Fuck her whole life. She takes back all the stuff about loving her good fortune. This is bad fortune. Like, empty fortune cookie levels of bad luck. Russians under the ice cream shop you work in, rotten luck. Honestly.
But Steve wins this round, because Eddie is the one that retreats, but he's laughing as he does it, waving his hand for them to follow. They're not gonna do that, right?
Wrong. Steve follows, so she trails behind.
"Gareth, you've met," Eddie says, "Jeff. Goodie. We didn't know we were encroaching on King Steve's territory, but we're just hanging out, camping, if that's alright with you two."
"I guess," Steve says, teasing, fucking flirting if she's not mistaken. Can't he ever turn it off? Ugh. "We're camping down there. With the kids I babysit. I heard your guitar, wanted to make sure you weren't straight out of Deliverance, or, like, ax murderers."
"Well, I am that, or haven't you heard?" Eddie asks, dimple showing up in the firelight. And Robin doesn't know how she's here right now. She should have stayed with Nancy and Jonathan and just let Steve be eaten by bears or monsters. Or Eddie Munson. Whatever.
"Heard what?" Steve asks.
"Hellfire Club!" Eddie shouts, waving his arms in an animated way, and Robin doesn't know what that is, and clearly Steve doesn't either.
"Sorry, man. Is that your band?" Steve asks, looking as confused as she feels.
"No, that's Corroded Coffin!" Gareth snaps, popping off, all pissy from the log he's sitting on.
"Sorry, my bad," Steve says.
"We play at The Hideout on Tuesdays," Gareth says, eyes narrowed.
"You play in a bar. You?" Robin asks, not believing a word of this. Not possible.
Gareth starts to answer, but Eddie holds up his hand and cuts him off.
"I'm channeling Satan. And I'm offended you don't know that, Harrington," Eddie says, and Steve's face is pure confusion, and Eddie laughs, taking pity on him, "It's the D&D club I run," Eddie adds, and Robin sees the light bulb pop on over Steve's head, like he's in a goddamn cartoon.
"Oh! The kids play that," Steve says.
"Do they now?" Eddie asks, not believing him, clearly.
"Unfortunately."
"And how old are these kids?" Eddie asks.
"Freshman, in the fall-" Steve says.
"Fresh blood," one of the guys says, cackling under his breath, as Steve keeps talking.
"-but I think Will is moving," Steve finishes.
"Will Byers, the zombie boy?" Eddie asks.
"Ssshh!" Steve hisses, "Don't call him that, okay?"
Eddie holds up his hands, backing off.
"Okay, okay, Harrington, don't get so worked up. I was just kidding," Eddie says, and the other boys all laugh.
"Well, it's not funny," Steve says, softly, "just. Don't. Okay?"
"Okay," Eddie concedes.
"Thank you, he's been through a lot," Steve says, looking back over his shoulder, like the kids might all be snooping right behind them. Which, fair enough. They would totally do that, given half a chance.
"Well, since you're here, you want a beer or…?"
And Steve's nodding, like an idiot.
Robin snags his arm, "Nancy will kill you."
And Eddie takes a step back, hands going up, "Well, we wouldn't want the girlfriend mad."
"She's not my girlfriend," Steve says, looking at Robin, "and Nancy can handle the kids for a bit, yeah? She's got Jonathan."
Robin is sure this is a bad idea. Nancy will be pissed about being left, and probably be pissed at Steve for having a beer or a toke, or whatever he has planned, while he's supposed to be in charge of the kids.
"You're camping with your ex-girlfriend, her new boyfriend and...Robin from band? Oh, how the mighty have fallen."
Steve doesn't take the bait, just pushes forward and sits down on the fallen log, right next to Gareth, who squawks in protest.
Eddie follows, and hands Steve a beer, and then offers one to Robin. She shakes her head no, one of them needs to keep their sanity, she thinks, and then she watches as Eddie lights up a joint. Great.
They pass it around, and she's not sure what they're doing here. These guys don't like them, and they definitely don't like these guys.
Every time Eddie came into Scoops, as soon as he was gone, Steve would say something about Eddie "The Freak" Munson. And now he's just hanging out with him, like that's a normal thing to do?
It's not a normal thing to do. Not at all.
"So, you're babysitting tonight?" Eddie asks.
"Unfortunately," Steve answers.
"Shame, I'd like to get The King all fucked up," Eddie says, leaning forward, elbows on his knees, hands cupping his face.
"Don't call me that. High school is over. Steve is fine," Steve says, and the other boys all laugh, and Eddie throws up another hand and they all stop.
Toadies. The toadiest of the toadies.
"Steve," Eddie says, and it's positively lewd.
"Thank you," Steve says, taking a long drag, holding it in his lungs, showing off, slowly killing himself in the process, she's sure of it. Idiot.
Robin shakes her head.
Then she feels something brushing her shin, and jumps, expecting a snake, or something worse, but it's just the boy she doesn't know, toeing at her with his shoe, offering her a can of Coke, cold and dripping with ice water from the cooler at his side.
She takes it, "Thanks. I'm Robin."
"Goodie," he says, like he isn't at all interested.
"Goodie?" she asks, and makes eye contact with Jeff Williams.
"It's a nickname," Jeff explains, like she might have thought otherwise?
But she just nods.
"I'm in your class," Goodie says dryly, and are they? She swore they were a year younger.
"Sorry, we must not have classes together very often, if ever," she says.
"Of course we don't, you were always in all those smart classes," Goodie snaps, and she laughs. Mrs. Click's history class with Steve Harrington was not the smart class, even if she was a year ahead of where she was supposed to be.
"Eddie, though…"
"Hey!" Eddie snaps, having heard it, somehow, despite talking to Steve at the same time.
Robin knows Eddie is headed into his third senior year, this time with her class. The rumor mill had been running wild at the end of last year, and it seems to be true, she guesses.
"Well, third time's the charm?" she asks, because what the fuck do you say to that? Sorry you flunked high school, again.
"Here's to hoping," Eddie answers, then turns his attention back to Steve.
Nancy really is gonna kill them if they don't head back, and soon.
"Steve, Nancy…"
"I know," Steve answers, "let me finish this beer and we're gone."
She nods, because unless she wants to stomp back through the woods all by herself, she doesn't have much choice in the matter.
Gareth hands her a stick with a marshmallow stuck in the end, and she takes it. She could have a s'more if she has to wait. It's the least they could do, she supposes, and she pokes it into the fire, starting to toast it up.
"Have you ever had one with a Reese's cup?" Gareth asks, holding up the package, an offer.
She hasn't, but now she wants to, for sure, and takes it from his hand, nodding in thanks.
"You used to work at the theater, right?" he asks.
"Unfortunately," she says.
"I went there a lot," he says.
"Oh, I'm well aware," Robin says, snarky.
And Goodie and Jeff both laugh, and it really wasn't that funny, she doesn't think.
"Haha, she knew you had a crush on her!" Goodie says, poking at Gareth with his roasting stick, as Gareth tries to bat it away.
"How embarrassing for you," Jeff adds, smirking, catching Robin's eye.
He did what now?
"I did not!" Gareth screeches in a way that says he probably, definitely did.
"I'm sure he didn't," she says, though, cutting him some slack, "If he did, he surely wouldn't have made such a gross mess for me to clean up everyday he was in there, right?"
"See? I was gross," Gareth clings to the accusation, like that's an improvement. Whatever helps him sleep at night.
"Okay, Pig-Pen," Jeff says, and Gareth is flushed. Probably from the embarrassment, but if he's not stupid, he'll play it off as the heat rolling off the sure to be illegal campfire.
Goodie laughs at the taunting, and she is so distracted that she almost burns her marshmallow, but she pulls it out and blows the flame out, just leaving a nice char. Sweet. Just how she likes them.
She puts the peanut butter cup on the graham cracker, and places the warm marshmallow on top, covers it with the other cookie, and is just squeezing it all together into a gooey mess when Steve leans over her shoulder and plucks it right out of her hand, taking a bite.
"Bad dingus, no!" she snaps, but just starts the process to toast another marshmallow. It'll be much easier to do that than fight for her original one from Steve's mouth. And she knows where that mouth has been, so no thank you.
"Thanks, Rob," Steve says, and she grumbles in response, but Gareth, Jeff and Goodie all laugh. Eddie is too busy plucking away at his guitar again, and he really doesn't sound half-bad.
She makes her second s'more, they say their thank yous and goodbyes, and start walking back towards their own campsite.
"So, what was that?" she asks, looking over at Steve, but it's really too dark now to see any of his features.
"What was what?" he asks, and it sounds like he honestly doesn't know.
"Whatever that was with Eddie?"
"What was? He's Eddie "The Freak" Munson, it was nothing," he says, and it doesn't sound like he's lying. Is he unaware he was flirting? Is that even possible?
She weighs her options. She's really gonna need more data. Maybe they'll cross paths again with Eddie Munson, and she'll be able to suss it out better.
"Nothing, I guess," she answers, and he just nods like he's not the least bit curious about what she meant.
Nancy and Jonathan are waiting at the edge of the campsite, and Nancy has a flashlight in hand. When she sees them approaching, she shines it right into their eyes.
"Jeez, Nance, put that thing down," Steve says, shielding his eyes from the onslaught of light, as Robin does the same over her own eyes.
"Where the hell have you two been?" Nancy asks, hands on her hips and she looks just like Steve, like that. It makes Robin smile.
"Bears. Checking for bears," Steve says.
"Well, either those bears threw shit at you in self-defense, or you have chocolate smeared all over your faces," Nancy declares, oh so dryly.
They both reach up to wipe at their faces, licking their lips.
"That's what I thought," Nancy accuses.
"Steve heard a guitar, it was Eddie Munson and his friends. They had s'mores," Robin caves, admitting to everything. Well, almost everything.
"You ate s'mores? From Eddie Munson?" Jonathan asks, then mumbles under his breath, "Wonder what those were laced with?"
Robin stills, she doesn't want to be drugged again, no way, but then laughs. She'd opened the candy herself, and unless Eddie had the forethought to lace the marshmallows or graham crackers, it seems unlikely.
And she's pretty sure Eddie's reputation is more bark than bite, anyway.
The kids must hear them talking, because they cause a commotion coming over, Dustin getting right into Steve's face.
"Back off, Henderson," Steve says, holding him by both shoulders, pushing him away.
"I smell beer! Steve's been drinking beer while in charge of us!" Dustin screams, and the other kids just look at him like he's lost his mind.
"So?" Lucas asks.
"Can I have one?" Mike tries, and Nancy and Steve both snap no at the same time, and he turns sullen.
"I had one beer, to be nice. To be friendly. Just to make sure we won't be, you know, messed with, or any of that dumb shit," Steve argues, hands waving.
"Sure, sounds likely," Dustin says, like the sarcastic little shit that he is.
"Well, that's what happened," Steve says, not rising to Dustin's bait, at least not yet.
"And just who did you have this beer with?" Dustin demands to know, hands on his hips. Have they all picked up this gesture from Steve? It's looking likely, at this point, and Robin worries for herself that she might be doing it without realizing. The horror.
"Eddie Munson," Steve says.
"Eddie Munson!" Dustin screeches, "He runs the Hellfire Club at the high school!"
"Yeah, yeah, I've heard," Steve says, resting his hand on the top of Dustin's head, ruffling his hair through his hat, "I put in a good word for you guys."
"No way, did you really?" Dustin asks, looking up at Steve, awed.
"I did, I told him to look for you in the fall. Now leave me be, you little dickhead, and don't make me take it back," Steve answers, and Dustin rushes back towards the other boys, suddenly excited about the prospect of maybe having an in to get into Hellfire Club.
Whatever floats his boat, she supposes.
Robin looks at the tents, and the small, very contained fire Nancy and Jonathan built while they were gone.
Looking at it now, camping might actually be fun.
At least for one night, anyway.

Steve doesn't like the way he feels during the SnowBall, watching Nancy chaperone as if she didn't break his heart into tiny little pieces. It's all so sickening that he can't take it. So, he drives to the only person he can think of; someone who had been willing before he was dating Nancy and he's hoping still is.
He pulls up to her house quietly, headlights turned off so that her step mom doesn't wake up. He hopes she's still awake, because one look at his watch before he shuts off his car tells him that it's later than he originally thought. He sneaks around the back of the house like a pro, finding her window with ease. His first words to her when he knocks on the window and she lets him in is that she needs to get her own place.
"Oh, because you have your own?" She teases, as if no time has passed and he didn't leave her to date Nancy. He heard she got around after they cut each other out, with people ranging from Eddie Munson to Billy Hargrove. But she smiles at him like he's the only one she's ever seen.
"Aren't you going to ask me what I'm doing here?" He prompts, laying on her bed. She's changed the layout of her rom, but otherwise the furniture and decorations are still the same from when they had been together. It puts him at ease. She smirks and lays down beside him as he tries not to stare at her boobs through her thin pajama shirt, as if he'd never seen them bare before.
"What are you doing here, Steve Harrington?" Her smile is alluring as always, and he finds himself smiling at her as well.
"Well," He starts, moving to lay on his back. "I figured we could go on a drive, catch up."
"Why are you here?" She repeats, now curious. Her head is tilted and her eyes sparkling, which can only mean trouble for Steve. She isn't exactly sure why she let him in her room in the first place, considering all her friends would kill her if they found out she talked to him again. "I mean, we haven't talked in, like, a year." She's skeptical, and rightfully so after their twisted history.
"I'll tell you in the car." He entices, standing. She sighs and stands as well, grabbing a sweatshirt and following him out her window and to his car. She's never been able to deny him, and arguing won't do anything except wake her mother up.
"So, Nancy broke your heart." She guesses as they fly down the freeway. The windows are down but the music is soft enough that they can hear each other talk.
"Pretty much." He admits with a nod, looking straight ahead. She sighs and looks in his backseat for the beer she knows he keeps back there. She knows him like the back of his hand, and when she offers one to him he can't help but crack it open, despite driving.
"Heartbreak's a bitch." She tells him, taking a sip and realizing that this is beer he's stolen from his father, which makes her smile slightly. It's rich and still tastes like shit, but she'll drink it if only to take the edge off.
"Like you would know." He scoffs, which leads her to roll her eyes.
"Just because you can't break my heart doesn't mean no one can." She tells him with a fake smile, annoyed that he would even bring that up.
"Okay, then who broke your heart?" He asks smugly. She shakes her head and looks out to the fields decorating each side of the road. "Come on, Y/N. I know some of your darkest secrets and you don't wanna tell me this?"
"What do you know?" She snaps her head toward him in time to see him smirk. It's so easy to kiss that stupid look of his face that she would give in if it weren't for the fact that he was driving.
"I know you lost your virginity to me." She's immediately stiff, ready to be defensive because she knows she never told Steve that.
"I did not!" She lies, but it sounds compelling to her.
"Y/N," He leans his head back and looks at her, and she puts her beer can in the cup holder before crossing her arms. Clearly, she did not sound compelling to Steve. "Come on."
"Are you trying to tell me I was a bad lay?" She frowns, mostly teasing. She knows she's not a bad lay. If she was, Steve wouldn't keep coming back.
"Oh my God." Steve rolls his eyes and stretches his arm as he slows down, turning off the freeway and into a random neighborhood. She's pretty sure they're not even in Hawkins anymore. "Just fishing for complements."
"Who told you?" She asks after a few moments, turning the radio down. It's now muted, and all they can hear is each other's soft breathing and the thrum of the engine as they slowly cruise past houses.
"I can't reveal my sources. That's just wrong." He tells her with a sly smirk.
The truth is, she knows who told Steve. They only have one mutual friend; Nancy Wheeler. She hadn't meant to tell Nancy, she was drunk and hurt. She hadn't known at the time that Nancy had begun dating Steve, which effectively ended their superficial friendship anyway.
"So," She starts, running her tongue over her teeth as she thinks of how to approach a serious topic. "Why did you really pick me up?" She asks, looking over. He stops, in the middle of the street in a random neighborhood, the sole lamp ahead of them illuminating only half his face. Part of it was right in her eye, but she continued to stare at him.
"Same reason as why you let me in," He shrugs, giving her a smile that looked more sad than happy. "I got my heartbroken."
~
The reason why Steve and Y/N worked was because they were so aesthetically pleasing.
Steve with his dark hair swooped to the side looking effortless, his light freckles and smirk that screams not giving a fuck but somehow personal and swoon worthy. Y/N with her short skirts, bright lipstick and winks that open doors. Her nails were always done, her hair was always perfect, her makeup always flawless. And while it was a lot of work, just like Steve's hair was, she enjoyed it. She liked getting up and pampering herself, having the time to herself to prepare for the day ahead. If she didn't enjoy it, she wouldn't do it, and Steve knew better than anyone that no one could make her do what she didn't want to do.
The only problem was, they'd never been official.
They went out. They made out. They had sex. They didn't plan study dates. They didn't kiss just for fun. They were not actually dating, a hard set boundary that was never fully discussed but still mutually agreed upon.
But that didn't matter. When they were on, everyone knew. And when they were off, everyone definitely knew. They had been in the on phase for awhile the last time, so long that people eventually forgot about their history, which was only a little embarrassing that everyone in Hawkins already knew about her love life.
And then he went and dated Nancy.
That falling out hurt. He didn't even tell her, just stopped calling until she found out from her step-brother Dustin. It was all he could complain about, coming back from Mike's house and having to endure Nancy and Steve.
"Honestly, I think it's better for her. Steve's a dick." She heard Dustin saying on the phone. She waited in the hall, wanting to hear the rest of what the little shit was going to spill about her. "I know she's your sister, dude, but she could probably help Steve. When he's with Y/N, it's like he doesn't give a shit about anyone else. At least now he seems nicer." And while it was cute that Dustin cared, it also made her furious.
Probably because it was true.
She marched over to him, taking the phone out of his hand and slamming it on the hook. He gaped at her, ready to call over his mother, but they both knew he wouldn't. Ms. Henderson was always on Y/N's side, especially after her father died, and Dustin had been talking about her.
"It's not like you guys won't get back together." Dustin scoffs, which makes Y/N narrow her eyes.
"He's with Nancy, and he seems a hell of a lot more interested in her than he ever was with me." She tells him, and he just rolls his eyes.
"You are so blind, God."
~
"If you're going to pick me up, the least you can do is make sure we don't die." Y/N chuckles, holding onto the side door of Steve's car. He had been staring at Y/N since she stepped in the car, causing him to almost crash multiple times.
"You're doing this on purpose." He tells her. It had been a couple weeks since he had gone through her window, and of course they had fallen back into old habits. He had picked her up almost every night, which alerted Dustin, and then before they knew it the whole town was once more in their business. Except this time, she was called a slut for hooking up with Steve so soon after Nancy. It didn't matter that Steve had come to her, or that Nancy had stolen Steve from her first. People just heard what they wanted to hear.
"Doing what on purpose?" She knows he's talking about the fact that she's wearing the short burgundy skirt, which is coincidentally the same one she wore the first night her and Steve had sex. She knew it would get him riled up, and she wanted to see it, since he was taking her to see a movie.
"You're just angry because I didn't pick your movie." They both know Steve is limited on friends right now, having lost his popular friends and also Nancy's friends, so Y/N agreed to go to the movies with him every once and awhile. Because he insisted on paying, he also insisted on picking the movie.
"Possibly." She tells him with a smirk. He makes a sharp turn, one that does not go in the direction of the drive-in, but she knows where they're going. It's exactly where she wanted to go anyway.
She always gets her way.
They arrive at Steve's empty house, racing in through the garage and upstairs to Steve's room, where he doesn't bother with lights or heating and just grabs her, pulling her mouth to his as he toes off his shoes.
"Hold on," She mutters as he pulls away to take off his jacket and shirt in one go. He doesn't go back to kissing her, but he puts his hands under her own untucked shirt and trails them up her bare back. "We need to talk." She whispers, and he just nods. He should have seen it coming, honestly.
They walk to the bed, Steve reaching over to turn his lamp on before he lays back. He'd rather not be looking at Y/N when she asks, which gives her every answer she needs.
"You know Dustin is my brother, right?" While they don't have the last name nor look alike, they both know that this question is rhetorical. Steve doesn't need to give a nod before she continues. "So what makes you think that you could get away with it?" She expects him to deny it, to tell her that Dustin heard wrong or that he doesn't even know what she's talking about, but they both know where that path leads.
"I didn't think I'd get away with it." He tells her, sitting up. "But I heard about you and Hargrove." Steve sighs, not taking any pleasure in the way her eyes widen and she presses her lips together.
"He doesn't have better hair, by the way." She's not quite sure what to say, both of them caught in the act.
"Does he have a bigger-"
"No," She shoves Steve with a small chuckle, rolling her eyes. "And he's not better, either." She looks up at him through her lashes, silently asking a question he's already going to answer.
"She's nothing compared to you." He mutters as he shifts on the bed, clearly ready to continue their previous activity. He ends up laying back on his pillows with her on his lap, his hands exploring her bare ass under her skirt. "I swear to God, I was worried I was going to say your name." He tells her as she leans in to kiss him. When she grinds her hips down, he tilts his head back while still keeping eye contact.
"Yeah, I've been there too a few times."

“So basically I guess you could say that I saved Dustin’s life.”
“But you were playing dungeons-”
“YUP! I'm a hero.”
You rolled your eyes as your hand copied down the words that were in the textbook onto your notebook. History was a bitch.
“Hey,” Eddie said while scooting closer to you.
You hum, eyes never leaving your notebook.
“What are you doing tonight?”
Your hand stopped moving as you thought about it.
“I have plans with Robin and Nancy.”
“Ditch them.”
You finally turn to look at Eddie and he swears he can feel his heartbeat out of his chest when he sees the teasing look in your eyes.
“‘M not gonna ditch them Eddie! I haven't seen them in so long, I miss my girls.” you say with a pout.
Eddie smiled as the tips of his fingers danced along the skin of your exposed knee. He silently thanks whatever greater power is out there for making today one of the hottest days of spring Hawkins has ever had.
“C’mon, pretty girl. I miss you so much, haven't seen you since Steve came into the picture.”
You clench your thighs and clear your throat as you quickly start to scribble down more notes. Eddie bites back his chuckle when his hands move up to your thighs. Your cheeks are painted with a pretty pink color as he leans in closer to you.
“So easy to rile up. I haven't done anything and you're already squirming around. It's fun teasing you.”
“You suck,” you whisper while turning your head to face him once more.
He snorts. “You sure about that sweetheart?”
You open your mouth ready to speak out, but the sound of the bell fills your ears as Eddie lets out a groan.
“Later Munson.” you giggle out as you grab your things and leave.
-
“Wait, wait, wait,” Robin said while eating a handful of popcorn. “You're telling me you're with Eddie and Steve?!”
You shake your head ready to clear up any confusion when Nancy cuts in.
“Do they know?”
“I'm not with either of them!” you exclaimed while popping an M&M in your mouth, the movie you put on seemed less interesting now. “I'm just…feeling out the situation.”
Nancy let out a giggle and raised her eyebrows, her expression screaming keep thinking that.
“How about you feel things out with me instead y/n?” Robin said while smirking at you.
You ignored the small blush on your cheeks and threw your candy toward her, cheers coming from all three of you when it bounces off her head and into the bowl of popcorn. A knock on the door floods the room making you get up and fix your pajama shorts and head toward the door.
“Pizza is here ladies- Steve?”
Steve’s lips stretched into a smile as he leaned against the door.
“Hey, uh, I have your pizza.”
You grab the box from his hands, confusion written on your face.
“Thanks, uh…what are you doing here? Not that I mind that you're here! I just- I have company.”
Your cheeks flush when you hear Nancy and Robin giggle at your flustered state. There was something about him that made all confidence leave your body.
“Oh, sorry I didn't know.” he chuckled. “I was just wondering if you were coming to my party tomorrow. It is my birthday after all.”
You smile softly at him and tilt your head a bit.
“Of course, I'll be there. I got you a present and everything.”
Before Steve could open his mouth a low whistle interrupted him.
“Hope it's nothing he can take off sweetheart, that's my job.”
Your body tenses as Eddie leans in and plants a soft kiss on your cheek, you're so caught off guard you don't hear robin choke on popcorn she was still munching on.
“Eddie!” you breathed out. “Eddie and Steve. Steve and Eddie. Fun. How fun is this?!”
You're short-circuiting and everyone within a three-foot radius would be able to tell.
“She's gonna crack,” Nancy said while shaking her head. Robin shushed her and shook her head.
“She's gonna rip them to shreds!”
Nancy furrowed her brows, her eyes never leaving your tense figure as you talked with the men who had you wrapped around their fingers.
Robin sighed, catching on to her friend’s confusion.
“She hasn't been on a date with them in two weeks cause they keep crashing each other’s dates, remember?”
Nancy nods her head still not catching on.
“That means, she hasn't been touched in two weeks. She's a ticking time bomb and they don't even realize it.”
“You're really good at reading her,” Nancy said with a teasing tone. “Any reason why?”
Robin shoves her friend and nods toward you. “I'm giving them three minutes before she explodes.”
You're so lost in your little world that you don't even hear what Nancy and Robin are talking about.
“Sorry to barge in on your girl time,” Eddie said while shoving his hands in his pockets. “I come with a present though, unlike someone.”
“I love presents!” you say with a smile.
Steve scoffs. “I'm the one who gave her the pizza, moron.”
Eddie brushes off Steve's comment and pulls a small brown baggy out of his pocket.
“I remember how stressed you looked while taking notes, thought this could help unwind,” he said while placing the small bag on top of the pizza box that was much cooler now.
“Uh- I, thank you, Eddie. I'll pay you back once I have some cash-”
Eddie waved his hand around causing you to stop.
“Don't worry about it. I can think of another way you could pay me back,” he smirked while hiding behind strands of his hair. “What are you doing tomorrow?”
“She's coming to a party with me.”
“Well-”
Eddie rolls his eyes and turns toward Steve. “Last time I checked, parties usually happen in the evening, which means she's free all day tomorrow.”
Your eyes flicked back and forth between the men in front of you. “I'm sorry, what's happening here?”
Steve speaks up first, his eyes never leaving Eddie. “He's trying to steal you away so you don't come to my party.”
“I wouldn't have to steal her away if you just left us alone on our dates.”
Steve rolled his eyes. “For the last time lovers lake is a common swimming ground-”
“Swimming at midnight?!” Eddie barked out.
“You have your hobbies I have mine-”
“You're a fucking idiot-”
“Enough!” You shouted as your hands gripped the pizza box tightly.
“This,” you said while circling your hand to gesture to the three of you. “Is not fun!”
“I want romance! I want flowers, and I want candy! I want to be swept off of my feet and god damnit- I want to be felt up!”
Silence falls over the three of you while Steve and Eddie rack their brains trying to find the right words to say.
“Nobody is feeling me up!” you shouted, blood boiling when you saw their eyes never left each other's frazzled frame “Nobody is even looking at me!”
Their eyes finally landed on you.
“I'm a fucking senior who tutors on the side and has a job! Do you two know how busy I am?! I told you both that this is a dating situation and I haven't been on a single date!”
Steve spoke up. “But I took you-”
“Do you know how much effort I put into getting ready?! I shave, I pluck, I do my hair, and put on makeup, and- the two of you are still looking at each other!”
They snapped their heads forward facing you again.
Eddie stepped forward. “Y/n-”
“No!” you said firmly while putting your hand in between your bodies.
“I like you both, I really do, and it kills me knowing that I'm going to have to choose only one of you to be with me.”
They both looked down at their feet forgetting that you'll have to break one of their hearts.
“But,” you said, the firmness in your voice returned. “My fantasy is not two men looking at each other!”
Their flustered state returned as they stumbled over their words.
“No! No talking until one of you figures out how to plan a date! I want heat, I want romance, damnit I want to feel like a freaking lady!”
They don't have time to form a coherent thought or sentence because you slam the door in their faces signaling that you're done with them for the night. Silence falls over both of them until Eddie scoffs and nudges Steve with his elbow.
“Way to go, you blew it.”
“Me?! You're the one-”
The door opens and their eyes fall on you once more.
“Thank you for the weed and pizza.” you said before slamming the door once more. You stomp over to the couch, sitting between your two friends as you toss the weed onto the small coffee table and angrily open the pizza box before munching on the now cold food.
“You know,” Nancy said while grabbing a slice of pizza. “That party is going to be something.”
You grunted, your eyes following Robin's hand as she picked off a piece of pepperoni from your pizza.
“Sorry, you guys had to hear that.”
Robin hummed. “I for one am having fun,” she said while munching on the pepperoni. “It was nice seeing you express what you want.”
You snorted. “You just like when I yell at Steve.”
“You got that right babe.”
-
Grumbles leave your lips as your shoes crunch on the bits of gravel that are scattered on Steve's driveway. You mutter out an apology to yet another car you bump into as you struggle to check Steve's gift bag making sure everything was in there.
“How the fuck is he going to claim he's not popular but the block is filled with cars?” you questioned out loud to no one in particular. You shivered when you felt a gust of wind blow by. Although you did wear a sweater, the thin material could only protect you from so much.
“Y/n! Come sit with me!”
Your head whipped around and excitement filled your body as Eddie leaned against the hood of his car. You make your way over to him with a smile.
“Hi, Eddie.”
He smiled at you and grabbed at your hand that was resting at your side.
“Hey sweetheart, aren't you cold?” he asked while looking over your outfit. You shrugged your shoulders.
“I don't plan on staying out here that long.”
Eddie hums and places a cigarette between his lips and places the lighter in the palm of your hand.
“Light me up, baby?”
You swallow and nod your head before you flick on the lighter with shaky hands. He leans in close enough to where the flame lights up his face and when he looks up at you you can see the flame dancing in his eyes. He pulls back with a smirk on his face and blows out a puff of air.
“So,” he starts. “What’d you get Harrington?” he asks while trying to peek inside the bag.
Nervously, you pull the bag behind your back and shrug your shoulders.
“Just a cassette tape he wanted, and some more tapes for his camera.”
Eddie furrows his brows. “Tapes? Steve has a video camera?”
You nod your head and focus on the small rock you're kicking around.
“Yeah, his parents got him one since they aren't here for his birthday.”
He nods his head and clears his throat. “So what did you get him?”
“Huh? Eddie I just told-”
“No, no, no,” he says while hopping off the hood of his van. “Those gifts in the bag are what you got for Steve and his guests. What did you get just for him?”
Your mind goes blank as his hands slip under your sweater and rest on your back. The coolness from his hands causes you to jump closer to his warm body.
“I- uh, th-the tapes…” you stutter trying to find the right words.
Eddie chuckles at your flustered state.
“This pretty little outfit his present? Does he get to unwrap you once he's all alone with you?”
You're dazed and Eddie can tell.
“Poor baby hasn't been touched for weeks and now look at you. Can't even think of a single sentence.” he mutters while tossing his cigarette aside.
“W-what did you get Steve?” you whisper as he leans down peppering kisses over your neck, biting down gently over your pulse. You feel him smirk.
“Don't worry, I got something our sweet little Stevie would love to have.”
-
The house filled with cheers as Steve blew out the birthday candles and took a shot. This was his element, it had to be. The way he was glowing and how alive he looked was enough to make your knees weak.
“Y/n!” he shouted as he opened his arms and wrapped you up in a bone-crushing hug. “You made it!”
You giggled and grabbed the bag that was sitting next to you on the counter. He gasped.
“And you brought me a present!”
“It's not much, just some things you mentioned- Steve are you crying?”
His eyes sparkled as tears began to form and fall down his beautiful face.
“This is the sweetest thing anyone has ever gotten me.”
You let out a nervous chuckle.
“Steve it's just-”
“Seeeeee this is why I like you so much! You're just- you're so sweet…like a peach…or a plum! You're a peach and a plum my darling!”
You don't even have time to respond before he's planting a sloppy kiss on your cheek and being dragged to the nearest drinking game.
“Hey- wait, let go- I’LL COME BACK FOR YOU!!”
A chuckle leaves your lips as you grab into the red solo cup that was resting by your gift. Your face twists into disgust as you lightly shake your head, you forgot Steve tends to buy hard liquor when he has people over.
“I'm sorry y/n, but I can't let people know how much I love the cute fruity drinks.” he would say.
You sigh as you make your way over to Robin who is sitting next to Jonathan and Nancy.
“There you are!” Nancy squealed as she wiggled out of Jonathan’s arms.
You giggled as she fell into you and gave Jonathan and Robin a small wave.
“Yeah,” Robin started. “We thought you wouldn't show up because of the incident.”
“Incident?” Jonathan asked while taking Nancy out of your arms and setting her back in his lap.
“Y/n is seeing Steve…and Eddie. She's living a double life.” Nancy rambled on.
“I'm not living a double life, they're both aware of what's happening.”
Jonathan nodded his head, his eyes were red and a lazy smile rested on his face. “I still don't know what's happening.”
You opened your mouth ready to explain your lover's lore but Robin beat you to it.
“Y/n hasn't had sex in two weeks and is extremely pent up, so she blew up on Steve and Eddie cause they suck.”
You scoff and chug down the small amount of liquor that was left in your cup, your face heating up but you weren't sure if it was because you had eyes on you or because of the liquor.
“I'm not pent up-”
“You are, and it's okay,” Robin said while putting a hand on your shoulder. “I told you I'm here for you! With open arms…and open legs, and an open-”
Nancy spit her drink back into her cup to let out her laugh, which made you giggle.
“Please Buckley, you wouldn't know what to do with me.”
Robin chuckled and sat up while leaning forward a bit.
“Is that a challenge?”
“Yo, Buckley,” a voice said. “Hands off my girl.”
Your head turns to see where the voice came from, your heart pounding out of your chest when you see Eddie making his way over.
“Hi.” you sigh. Your head resting on his thigh when he sits on the armrest of the couch. His hand finds its home on your neck, his rings causing a chill to shoot through you like a lightning strike. His hand moves up your jaw and gently makes you look at him.
“Hi, pretty girl.”
Your insides turn to mush and you swear you hear angels singing the moment he opens up his mouth to greet you. You fight the urge to let out a whine when you feel his thumb rub against your jaw. Before you know it, he's moved you onto his lap and his arms are around your waist. you squirm around trying to get comfortable when you feel his breath on your ear.
“In a little bit, you're gonna go to the restroom okay? I have a surprise for you.”
Yesyesyes, god yes. You nod your head not trusting your voice, and you give yourself thirty seconds before you're stumbling your way toward the restroom upstairs. Once you reach the restroom you lean against the door, your hand gripping the doorknob as excitement courses through your veins.
Fuck, you think to yourself. Pull yourself together. You're not desperate. Oh, but you are desperate. You walk up to the mirror and grip the edges of the sink as you stare at your reflection. Your cheeks are painted in a pretty rosy shade and heat is radiating off of you. You could practically see how needy you were. A knock on the door stops your thoughts.
“Occupied,” you grunted out as you fixed your hair.
The knocking continues.
“Didn't you fucking hear- oh.”
You swing the door open ready to tell off whoever was behind the door but you stop when you see Eddie.
He lets out a low whistle. “You really are pent up.”
A scoff leaves your mouth as you drag him in by the collar of his shirt and push him up against the door.
“Yeah, I am.”
He doesn't have time to process what's happening before your lips are on his and your hands are racing trying to take off his jacket. He pulls away trying to catch his breath, letting out a laugh when your lips chase his.
“Eddie-”
“This is cute, you thinking you're in charge.”
He wraps his arms around you and lifts you to sit on the edge of the sink, the cold porcelain cools your skin. You whine when he pulls away from you to lean against the wall.
“Eddie-”
He shushes you.
You pout and rest your hands on your thighs.
“I wanna get a good look at how pretty you look right now. Matter of fact…how about we say cheese for the camera.”
Your eyes widen when you see him pull out Steve's camera from behind his back. You were so caught up in your needs that you didn't even notice he had the camera with him.
“I haven't filmed anything, but I figured since you and steve took some pictures maybe we can make a little magic.”
“How do you know about…”
He pulls the small polaroid out of his pocket and shows you.
You chuckle dryly.
“You are both something else.”
Eddie took a step forward testing the waters.
“The ball is in your court sweetheart.”
“I can't stand it, really. The constant bickering, the ruined dates. It's getting old fast.”
He stands between your legs now
“Not like the movies?”
“Nothing like the movies.”
He hums. “You could end it all now. Either choose or call it quits. We won't hate you, we knew what we were getting into.”
You were selfish, and you hated that you were. Even though the bickering did bother you, and you hated how they each ruined countless dates you didn't want it to end. Not yet at least, and that made you feel selfish. How often could a woman say she had two men fight for her? Not a lot, so you said fuck it. Fuck the selfish feeling cause you deserve this.
“You talk too much.”
-
By now the party has died down a bit and Steve is long gone. Jonathan and Robin drag his half-asleep body up the stairs trying to find his room.
“Where are we going?” Steve slurred out.
“Your bed.” Robin grunted. “Are you doing anything, Jonathan?”
“Do you hear something?” Jonathan mumbled while looking behind him.
“Yeah, I hear me doing all the hard work here.”
“You're both good friends. Great friends. Friends, friends, friends.” Steve said.
Robin rolled her eyes. “How the fuck did I end up on babysitting duty?”
“Yo, seriously. Does anyone hear that noise?!”
-
You died. You had to be dead and in heaven because you have never felt so good in your entire life. You had one leg propped up on the sink and the other was wrapped around Eddie's waist making sure he wouldn't be too far from you.
“F-fuck, holy shit,” Eddie chuckled breathlessly. “You look so fucking good like this,” he whispered while slowing his thrusts down.
“So. Fucking. Pretty.”
Each word made his hips meet yours. Your eyes roll to the back of your head and you let out a moan. Eddie is quick to shush you.
“Careful pretty girl, you'll spoil the surprise for Steve.”
Oh, right, the surprise. You almost forgot all about the camera that Eddie was holding in his shaky hands. Almost.
“C'mon baby, say hi to Steve for me,” he grunted out.
You open your mouth ready to tell him to put down the camera that way he can give you all his attention but you don't. Instead, your jaw drops, and your eyes roll to the back of your head when you feel Eddie angle his hips a bit.
“There it is.” he chuckled.
You don't even bother trying to keep quiet anymore. Moans and curses are spilling from your mouth as one hand grips the edge sink while the other flies behind Eddie's neck.
You moan against his lips when you finally feel his hands on your body, the camera long gone now.
“Who's fucking you this good baby?”
“Y-you- fuck, you are Eddie!”
A quiet fuck falls from his lips when your legs wrap around him trapping him between your legs.
“So fucking good for me, f-fuck. S-so fucking good.” Eddie mentally kicks himself for not having a better vocabulary but there's no other word to describe how he feels right now. His thrusts start to get sloppy and his hands are gripping your thighs, trying to pry them open.
“L-let me go baby-”
You shake your head and try to bring him closer to you. This isn't enough, you want to melt into him.
“S-shit- cum in me Eddie, please.”
He groans loudly and pulls away from you a bit. You open your eyes and clench at the sight in front of you. His curls are sticking to his forehead and his chest is covered in pretty little shades of purple, some of them over his tattoo.
“Yeah?” he moaned out. “Want me to cum in you?”
You gasp when he starts to speed up again.
“Fuck, you're gonna be so full of me. Gonna have me dripping down your thighs while you walk out of Steve's house.”
A moan leaves your soft lips at the thought of Eddie cumming in you once again.
“You like that baby? Like when I cum inside you and make you mine?”
You nod your head, the knot in your abdomen getting tighter and tighter with each thrust of his hips. Eddie’s hand falls to your clit, his thumb rubbing in a quick side-to-side motion, a lopsided grin appeared on his face when he heard you moan louder.
“‘M close Eddie!”
“I know baby- fuck, gonna come around my cock? Hm?”
You nod your head frantically.
“Please, please, please Eddie! Please let me cum.”
His lips crash into yours, swallowing your moans when the knot finally breaks, and you get drowned in waves of pleasure. A groan leaves his lips as his hips press into you with one final thrust.
Finally, silence falls over you both, the only noise that fills the room is the both of you trying to catch your breaths and the soft electrical hum from the lights above you.
“Thank you,” you whimper out, your arms wrapping around his shoulders as you kiss him again. “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
Eddie chuckles, his lips melting with yours and his hands hold your face while his thumbs gently stroke the skin of your cheeks.
“We should probably get you cleaned up,” he whispers against your lips. You whine at the empty feeling as he slowly pulls out. His teeth bite into his bottom lip as he watches a mixture of you and him slowly leave your body. His mind is on autopilot as he reaches for the camera with one hand, his eyes never leaving you. A gasp falls from your lips when you feel two fingers slip back inside of you.
“Steve is an idiot if he thinks I'm not putting up a fight for you,” he mumbles to himself. He smiles at you and angles the camera toward your face. “Say hi to him baby.”
-
Steve lets out a groan, his hands flying to his pounding head as he squints his eyes trying to block out the sunlight that shines through the curtains.
“Fucking sun, all bright and shit.” he slurs, slowly sitting up in his bed making sure not to make himself feel even worse than he does. He rubs the sleep out of his eyes as he racks his brain trying to remember snippets from the night before. The last thing he remembers is taking a couple of shots with Robin, then his mind goes blank. Another groan slips past his lips but it cuts short when his eyes fall on the tape that was resting on his pillow.
He picks up the tape, turning it over trying to see if he could find anything written on it, but his eyes widen when he realizes the tape is for his new camera.
“Jesus Christ Steve, what did you do last night?”
Steve plops back down onto his pillow, and a small hum of curiosity fills the room when he sees a note peeking out from the pillow next to him.
To: Steve
Happy birthday. I thought you'd enjoy this :)
Eddie (and y/n)
Suddenly it all clicks into place. Steve stumbles out of his bed, tripping over red solo cups and the occasional bag of chips people left behind for him to clean up. He can't even be upset about it as he fumbles around with the tape, putting it in the player and turning on the tv. His eyes widen when your moans flood the living room and Eddie’s hand wrapped around your throat comes into the frame.
Eddie’s dirty talk goes in one ear and out the other, it's all too much for Steve. He quickly takes the tape out of the player and lets out a dry chuckle while shaking his head. He knew Eddie would put up a fight, he knew how much Eddie liked you but he liked you more. All he had to do was show you and Eddie Munson who the better fit was, and that won't be too hard for a charming guy like Steve. All he needed was a plan and a perfect moment to execute said plan.
“Where the hell am I?” a voice slurred out from behind the couch.
“Jonathan why are you still in my house?”
