A foundation model for the Earth system
Problem statement We represent the observed state of the atmosphere and surface at a discrete time t as a multidimensional array ({X}^{t}in {{mathbb{R}}}^{Vtimes Htimes W}), in which V is the total number of variables and H and W are the number latitude and longitude coordinates, respectively. The state can be split into surface (St) and atmospheric (At) components: Xt = (St, At), in which…

“requiem for methuselah” crazy ass episode for many reasons. Kirk is being fully insane, like I don’t actually think, even controlling for how quickly and easily and readily he seems to fall in love with anybody at the slightest encouragement, that he’d go that bonkers for that android woman he just met while everyone on the ship was this close to dying, but that’s neither here nor there, because in the background you’ve got an equally but much more subtly insane episode for Spock, who extremely uncharacteristically admits to experiencing an emotion (or nearly experiencing, whatever) and that emotion is ENVY of all things. And then spends the rest of the episode warning Kirk away from this new love interest (something that doesn’t usually happen, even when Kirk has very inadvisable love interests) and is, in the end, the person who accurately identifies that Rayna’s competing love for Kirk and Flint is ultimately what overwhelms and destroys her with the most killer line in maybe history???
And then to wrap it up we get an equally uncharacteristic sort of denouement scene (TOS loooves to cut an episode off right after the actual climax, leaving little time for falling action or character reflection, or to stick a sitcom-y button on the end where the gang all smiles and laughs at their misadventures and everything resets to zero, which is not a criticism, it’s just the style of that era of tv, honestly) where Kirk is literally miserable over Rayna’s death (again, kind of unusual for a lot of his love interests, he tends to be able to move on pretty quickly) and Spock goes to see him and he falls asleep right in front of Spock (also odd) and then when Bones comes in to give the final word on Flint, Spock waves him off from waking the Captain (tender) and Bones gives him that awful speech about how it’s sadder that Spock can’t even imagine the love Kirk felt for this random android woman than it is that Kirk lost her in the first place (debatable but also rude) and how his great tragedy is that he can’t love at all like they can and how all he wishes is that Kirk could forget about all of this and move on. AND THEN, to have Bones leave and Spock go over to Kirk and very gently, tenderly, reluctantly touch him and put his hand to his forehead and tell him to forget and HAVE THAT BE THE END OF THE EPISODE??? What am I supposed to do with that??
#‘the joys of love made her human. the agonies of love destroyed her’ hUH. What a cool line.#hope it doesn’t become some sort of…thesis statement for you or something SPOCK#listen my number one beef with the way they write bones is that they just make him completely mischaracterize everything to suit the plot#this man is not an idiot he KNOWS Spock has emotions and just suppresses them#you’re going to tell me he’s been on that ship with Spock for years and thinks he feels no love whatsoever for anyone???#like even after what happened in the empath and in that episode where McCoy thought he was dying#he knows Spock loves people!!! COME ON#does he really just mean romantic love?? that’s so boring WRITE HIM BETTER#also they’re banking a lot on people remembering what the Vulcan mind meld is for that last bit#like I know it comes up a lot but…this is 1968 or whatever. They don’t have this shit on dvd to rewatch#you’re counting on really dedicated fan memory here or on people catching reruns#because otherwise it just looks like Spock waiting to be alone to touch Kirk as tenderly as possible and pray he forgets this woman#truly what’s going on#anyway I kind of hated this episode#like quite frankly there was too much going on#are androids people? would Kirk fall in love that hard that quickly and choose it over the safety of his crew?#why wasnt the illness ravaging the crew a bigger deal??#they didn’t even get into WHY flint was immortal#he was just a regular human and apparently the ONLY one who was granted immortality by the earth’s atmosphere#leaving aside the very creepy and very early born sexy yesterday trope going on throughout#but it was a really good Spock episode if you just….dont look at anything else….#the writer for this one also did Day of the Dove and Mirror Mirror which explains a LOT#two other episodes that are interesting for the character dynamics but really chaotic plot wise#anyway imagine saying to Spock’s face that he has no idea what love can drive a man to do#one has to laugh#tos#star trek#as always…. I’m sorry that I’m Like This

between Dread continuing from a game on GBA (and really every game prior to that too) and Prime 4 continuing from 2 games on GameCube and Original DS, Metroid has the longest narrative endurance of any multi-creator series I've ever seen. Threads left in stasis decades ago when the series was shelved picked right back up once development resumes—an entire generation of developers later—like nothing ever happened

Playful Martian Dust Devils
Tumblr media
The Martian atmosphere lacks the density to support tornado storm systems, but vortices are nevertheless a frequent occurrence. As sun-warmed gases rise, neighboring air rushes in, bringing with it any twisted shred of vorticity it carries. Speedworld - safari (2022) – my safari – road to the countryside!
Tumblr media
Beautiful front cover. For this music album. With a genre electronics music. So, it is a synthwave, retrowave. Such direction. With style of retro 80s sound. But, it is album from 2022 year. Wow! It is, so, cool! Such a little wind from 80s! It is very refreshing! And front cover is so cool here we have. Such a picture from a rally. And a label – the toughest rally. Wow! It reminds some action movies 80s. And little car just from style of racing games 90s. Or Sega Saturn racing.
Tumblr media
There are here 6 music tracks. About 3 minutes, approximately, every track. A little longer. Such a upbeat drive style dynamic rhythms. With interesting synthesizers effects. They give you some spirit of safari, maybe. Desert, exotic places. And you such a ride there. Maybe, it is like this. There is electro guitar. It sounds beautiful. Good tempo, but, well, not fast for a melody. Dynamics is about synthesizers type of rhythms.
Second track, by word, it is more rock and drive such, than a first one. Racing dynamics raises! Racing is most peak time!  All tracks reminds a lot synthesizers 80s. Or music to the movies. Action movies. So, someone like a sportsman or main hero is training for a tournament.  Something else, this kind, as sport dynamics. As it was ina movies of those years. Or racing. Of course, racing theme is good to go! I in a car listen something like this, often. As retrowave, mainly, not a dynamical, all the time, even.
Tumblr media
What is a cool thing here, that retrowave has a mood. Maybe, every music has thing like this. So, here everyone, takes his own decision about what to listen, in the end. This or that track. This or that artist. And, so, in a third track. There is a positive theme in a music. Little music sounds funny. And, so, mysterious synthesizers theme in the start. So, it starts as a calm thing!
There is some big mystery in the synthesizers! At least, personally for me. And, in the end, of the first track it will be a thunder of electro guitars as a thunder sound, well, a little like that. Cool! And still goes a funny such synthesizers dynamic rhythm.
Tumblr media
Compositions often has something atmosphere part, but, also, a dynamics. But, well, little more low sound. And a part where dynamics straight goes with synthesizers. Little of electro guitar. Melody for example. Rhythm melody. And, so, mainly, 100 percent’s synthesizers are goes here for every track. Power of synthesizers! Dynamics and synthesize!
And, in a song five there are birds singing! Of course, it is a composition, not a songs, there is no vocal here.  But, it has a interesting thing – little birds are singing. And next it goes wow rhythm! Already, without birds! Next, during the track it will change. Dynamics and voice of the birds. Once, it is dynamics. Once, it is birds. And, later, it goes such a melodical dream way electro guitar! For a positive mood, you can say, that retro wave is good! Drums are, also, goes good here!
Tumblr media
Track Safari - it is last one. Once, again, it goes as a mystery. Calm. Voices of insects, maybe. Sound of rain or how old tree brokes. Something like, you are going though the forest. So, for a few seconds. And it is starting slow electro guitar. With main synthesizers rhythm. Safari, it should to be, not only a rally. But, also, about a walk in the forest. Well, something like this, I can guess by the track. So, with this note of explorer and a scout. In a middle tempo or, maybe, even, little slower. Everything is going to the end. It was exciting journey! Music way type! There is something to remember! And to think about! While you are listening such wonderful tracks!
It is funny, that band has a name SpeedWorld. And album – Safari. And a frontcover has label, at the top – Safari and a sub label – toughest rally.  These, you know, there are such two tracks here. With such names.
Tumblr media
I am a big fan of electronics music. It is very interesting for me - what is can be as a sound in electronics. And it has lots of genres. Unbelievable different. And I more about retrowave. With style 80s, when music. Dynamic and ambient. I listen while on the road to the countryside in a car, for example. Different retrowave. So, I want to write a little about this!
So, here, by the way, a photos from a countryside road. This is my safari and rally! Such a road travel to the country house and a journey! Music good for this!
Tumblr media
Music listner. From time to time i like to listen to the music. And write about it. Dima Link is making retro videogames, apps, a little of music, write stories, and some retro more.

"A team of solar physicists has released a new study shedding light on the fine-scale structure of the sun's surface. Using the unparalleled power of the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope, built and operated by the National Solar Observatory (NSO) on Maui, scientists have observed, for the first time ever in such high detail, ultra-narrow bright and dark stripes on the solar photosphere, offering unprecedented insight into how magnetic fields shape solar surface dynamics at scales as small as 20 kilometers (or 12.4 miles).
The level of detail achieved allows us to clearly link these stripes to the ones we see in state-of-the-art simulations—so we can better understand their nature. These stripes, called striations and seen against the walls of solar convection cells known as granules, are the result of curtain-like sheets of magnetic fields that ripple and shift like fabric blowing in the wind.
As light from the hot granule walls passes through these magnetic "curtains," the interaction produces a pattern of alternating brightness and darkness that traces variations in the underlying magnetic field. If the field is weaker in the curtain than in its surroundings, it appears dark; if it is relatively stronger, it appears bright.
The paper describing this study, titled "The striated solar photosphere observed at 0."03 resolution," is now available in The Astrophysical Journal Letters."
""Magnetism is a fundamental phenomenon in the universe, and similar magnetically induced stripes have also been observed in more distant astrophysical objects, such as molecular clouds," shares NSO scientist and co-author of the study Dr. Han Uitenbroek. "Inouye's high resolution, in combination with simulations, allows us to better characterize the behavior of magnetic fields in a broad astrophysical context.""
"Studying the magnetic architecture of the solar surface is essential for understanding the most energetic events in the sun's outer atmosphere—such as flares, eruptions, and coronal mass ejections—and, consequently, improving space weather predictions. This discovery not only enhances our understanding of this architecture but also opens the door to studying magnetic structures in other astrophysical contexts—and at small scales once thought unachievable from Earth."
