Fun fact.
"Thorn" is an old letter shared by Old English, Old Norse and Old Swedish, and a modern letter in current Icelandic.
It primarily follows "Th". A lot of words that formerly had thorn, were translated or grew into replaced thorn with either "D" or "TH".
For example; the word "That" had started with thorn. Or the name "Thor" also started with thorn.
Now for the fun part.
Commander Thorn, a Coruscant Guard Clone Commander, who's appearance mostly consists of dying to defend Senator Padme, was created as a tribute to the Marvel films' "Thor".
As a fun bit of Headcannon, I don't think Thorn signs his named in Aurbesh. I think he signs his name as...
Tumblr media
The letter Thorn, or its Aurbesh Equivalency. Only a single letter.
( Hey, if Aurbesh is gonna blatantly rip off English, I'm going to force-feed it old english letters too. )
Since Thesh (Which represents TH in Aurbesh) is a thing...
Let me just
Tumblr media
Make Thorn's signature myself.
Bonus below.

UCS Lego Razor Crest Build Update!
Tumblr media
I made a lot of progress this weekend as I was feeling pretty burnt out from being on an exhausting emotional rollercoaster last week. So, it was nice to take a couple of days for myself, away from social media and just build Lego!
Even though tumblr doesn't always feel like it is social media, it definitely is, so I think it's always wise to have a break if you're not in the right headspace for the constant onslaught of information. I have definitely got better at realising when I need a little time away. But now I'm back and I'm excited to catch up on what I missed!
Before that though, I thought I would update you lot on my progress building my Lego of the GOAT Star Wars ship. There are so many details, I am truly in nerd heaven building this baby!
Anyway, more rambling and gushing over all of that under the cut:
Firstly, I did some more work on the interior!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can see (L-R) the bunk, the carbonite freezer thing (it probably has a technical term ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) complete with some nice frozen bounties ANDDDD Din's weapons closet!!!! The little yellow sticker on top reads "Child On Board" in aurbesh and it even has a little silhouette of Grogu, I melted at this detail.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, I completed the cockpit! The pilot's seat is so cool, it even rotates and I put Din on it to model! Plus, thEY KEPT GROGU'S BALL IN! So sweet. I love that there are three seats in this one as the smaller playset only had two. Which is fine, it's a kid's toy but this one is leagues ahead and I truly appreciate every little detail!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the back of the cockpit is a little storage space for Grogu's pram plus FROG LADY'S EGGS!!! I put Din's helmet on there too and here, have another photo of Din in the cockpit just because he's sO CUTE!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally I finished the ramps! There are three in total two ramps towards the front, Din modelling once again and the rear one is much bigger with a cool mechanism!
I've almost finished building the first box. The second will have the big engines I think, but that's mainly it for the interior. It's been a blast so far and I cannot wait to continue the build!!

Condemned to Jealousy
Fandom: Star Wars, but where Fives was listened to, Palpatine is gone and the Republic is winning the war once and for all.
Pairing: Fives x Reader, unrequited Crosshair x Reader
Content: Angst and a little bit of fluff.
Warnings: Mentions of blood.
Word Count: 1642
A/N: Mando'a translations are 'mesh'la' = beautiful, and 'ner kar'ta' = my love. I wrote this in an evening so it's rather messy, but I've had this idea on my mind for a couple of days and actually wrote it for once.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When he hears that the 501st are on shore leave too, Crosshair bristles. All he wants is some quality time away from the front lines with you, and now he knows that his chance is squandered. Whilst you had been working with Clone Force 99 since Echo joined, as his personal medic (keeping his biomechanics running smooth, as well as helping with the trauma of Skako Minor), you were previously assigned with the 501st. That meant that you were going to meet up with Troopers that you had once served with and Crosshair would be deprived of your presence. He tried to push down his annoyance at the fact, but the sniper barely lasted an hour pretending to be fine. The grumpiness of his amplified over the days before their shore leave, culminating to the present moment: sitting with his brothers in a booth at 79s, brooding over a glass of whiskey and staring daggers into the table surface.
The music around the bar pulsed with energy, the floor filled with various clones who were moving with the steady beat – either with each other or with a nat-born who’d taken interest. Some clones still wore their plastoid, some wore their blacks, or a mix of the two. Some clones even wore civ clothes, although it was somewhat rare. Most of the colour adorned by the clones here tonight was, of course, blue. Too much blue, Crosshair thought to himself as his eyes shifted over the crowd, looking for you.
It took him a while to find you, for you and those you were currently with were hidden by the throng. By then he saw you; the first glimpse he saw was of you with a wide grin spread across your features, eyes crinkled slightly, laughing at something one of the clones around you said. There are three of them with you, Crosshair identifies. Two of them are bald and tattooed, the other with slicked back hair, a vaguely anchor shaped beard, and a tattoo upon his temple. Crosshair narrowed his eyes to get a better look at the tattoos. Bald Trooper No.1 has blue lines wrapping around his scalp and onto his face; he is dancing near you, shimmying quickly and with no rhythm. The sniper actually recognised Bald Trooper No.2: Jesse. He was on Anaxes and they had a mutual dislike of each other, making Crosshair wrinkle his nose as he observes the close proximity of the clone to you… Even if Jesse is laughing at Bald Trooper No.1 and now seeking to playfully tackle him. However, Crosshair’s distaste at Jesse’s presence quickly diminishes as Bearded Trooper wraps his arm around your shoulders, turning his head to reveal his tattoo in greater detail to Crosshair – an aurbesh five. He knew this clone too, but had met him only briefly after the rescue of Echo, for he was his batch-mate, Fives…
The ARC Trooper with aurbesh tattoo looks down at you, a toothy smirk spreading across his features. His honey hued irises sparkle in the throbbing lights and you realise as your eyes lock that you have missed this man so much.
Before being assigned to the Bad Batch, before the rescue of Echo, you had served with the 501st. You got on with all of them, Rex, Jesse, Tup, Hardcase, Kix, and even Dogma, who was a little hard to like at times. But Fives… On your first day with the legion, and after being introduced to Rex’s squad as their non-combat doctor, Fives had come up to you with that smirk of his and hit you with the cheesiest pick-up line you’d ever heard. Yet, you still blushed. Not because of the line, but because of the one who’d delivered it. From then on, you’d harboured a small crush on the ARC Trooper, who flirted with you any chance he got. He visited your medbay upon the Resolute often – most clones tended to stay away, save for their regular health check-ups, but Fives seemed to like the place more than Kix. It was through these visits that you began to get an inkling that you were not the only with a slight infatuation. It lead to the moment, in the middle of Fives’ routine health check after some time in the front line, where you both ended up acting on those feelings towards each other. From then on, the pair of you had been together, in secret, not because of some rule against clones and nat-borns being together, but due to violating the rules of the workplace. Yet, now that you served with the Bad Batch, not with Fives and the 501st, it was becoming more and more tempting to be not so secret about your relationship.
That is why, as you look into Fives’ eyes, his arm about your shoulders, you decide to raise a hand to loop around to the back of his head, your fingers slipping between his brunet locks. He raises a brow slightly, although as his eyes become hooded it is clear that he is having similar thoughts to yours.
“Mesh’la,” he mutters in his deep baritone, “I don’t want to keep this secret anymore.”
“Fives… Neither do I.”
In that moment, Fives pulls you in for a kiss, his lips encompassing yours softly. In that moment too, you hear the smashing of glass. You break away from Fives, who groans with frustration, yet too looks towards the source of the noise. You both expect it to be nothing much, maybe overly drunk patrons. It’s not nothing, as the table where your current squad sits is now in disarray and a certain member of Clone Force 99 is staring deadly daggers at Fives. The said clone makes an awkward sound in confusion, eyes flicking towards you with a hint of panic within them as he whispers in your ear, “Ner kar’ta, why is he glaring at me?”
You shake your head slightly, partially in disbelief, but also to indicate to Fives that you don’t know. “He’s usually grumpy, but I’ve never seen him like… this. Let me deal with this.”
As you talk with Fives, Crosshair is swiftly stomping over. Before Fives gets a chance to respond to you, a fist lands directly in the side of his nose, causing him to stumble and nearly pull you over with him. You untangle yourself from Fives, seeing red in the corners of your eyes as you turn to face the assailant, Crosshair. He looks enraged. However, your expression gives him a run for his credits.
“Crosshair! What the kriff was that?!” The entirety of the bar has their eyes on you as you shout, many of the 501st in the bar moving to gather around. Jesse and Hardcase, who were with you in the moments before the incident, have stepped in to check on Fives, who is holding his nose that gushes with his own crimson blood. Rex, who was sitting with the Commanders, has stood up and approached slowly, ready to step in to be the mediator, and alongside him is Cody too, the pair ready to work the dynamic duo as always. Kix is currently pushing his way through the crowd towards you as well, seeming to go full combat medic mode at the commotion. The Bad Batch have reacted too, all slightly differently. Wrecker has leapt from his seat, ready to fight. Echo has quickly moved to grab the oversized clone, and Hunter too has stopped his brother from starting a whirlwind of chaos, although seems to be more relaxed about potentially letting Wrecker off the leash if there is good reason to. Tech still sits in the back of the booth, awkwardly looking over his datapad at the situation. All of them wait, however, to see how Crosshair responds.
The silver haired sniper hisses an exhale, before snarling his words, “The reg kissed you!”
In your eyes, it is a pretty poor excuse. “So?!” You call out, your anger bubbling up with the increasing heat.
Crosshair narrows his eyes, taken aback by the question, yet this time he has a better response, spoken quietly this time, his words now laced with venom, “It looks like you’re being taken advantage of…”
If you hadn’t been drinking then maybe you would have said something better, but what comes out of you is spat that the sniper with frustration at his apparent blunder.
“I’m dating Fives, I ain’t being kriffing taken advantage of!”
Crosshair’s expression falls for a moment, a look of abject horror upon his features. Yet it disappears as quickly as it appears. He seems done, done with everything now. Turning around, to head towards the exit of the bar, he growls, “Kriff you…” He leaves then, storming out. Hunter drags Wrecker along with him after their brother, whilst Echo lets go to rush across to you and Fives, whose nose is now clogged up with napkins from the bar to stop the bleeding.
It is as Echo comes towards you and Crosshair steps out the door of the bar that the realisation of what truly happened hits you. All those around you disappear as your entire focus turns to Fives. You rush over towards him, the shouts of the clones about you trying to disperse the crowd falling on deaf ears as you throw yourself against Fives, wrapping your arms around him.
“I’m sorry, Fives-“
“Ssssh, ner kar’ta, not your fault. He was just jealous.” Fives wraps his arms about you, engulfing you in his warmth and comfort, placing a gentle kiss atop the crown of your head.
Meanwhile, Crosshair storms away from 79s and into the night of Coruscant, he realises that he will always be jealous in regard to you. Jealous because you are the one thing he cannot have, for Fives has already claimed you.

𝘄𝗼𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗼 〜 what’s their relationship like with their parent(s)/guardian(s)?
Grim had a good relationship with her parents on Earth. She wasn't as close as she wanted to be with them, but she loved them and they loved her. When she ended up in Star Wars it was hard for her to have lost her parents. They didn't know where she had gone either and would spends years trying to search for her. They refused to give up hope on their daughter, although Grim would refuse to return to them. She figured they would be able to move on eventually, and that the Star Wars universe needed her more. And of course Grim sees Obi-Wan as a father figure during her time in the Star Wars universe. Her dynamic with Obi-Wan however is different from the one she had with her birth parents. For one she isn't as open with him as she was with them. She feels like he understands her less than they would. Her birth parents were the ones she needed on Earth but she needed someone like Obi-Wan to guide her through her time as a Jedi Padawan.
𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗶 〜 does your oc’s name or design reference anything? i.e. music, movies, etc.
Grim's middle name Cassandra is a reference to Cassandra from greek myth. In the Rebellion her ship is called The Asteria another reference to greek mythology as Asteria is the goddess of falling stars. I'm a big fan of greek mythos and Grim also has a recouring night sky / star motif. Her design doesn't have any references however.
𝗺𝗼𝗷𝗶𝘁𝗼 〜 does your oc have any tattoos and/or piercings? if so, what are they? if not, do they want any?
Grim gets her ears pierced after Order 66 so that she can wear earrings. In the Rebellion she gets two tattoos. One is on her upper left back and is simply the line "there is no death, there is the force" from the Jedi mantra in Aurbesh. She also gets a small tattoo of the Earth although I haven't figured out where to put that yet. I am currently considering putting it over her heart. She lost her connection to her homeworld during Order 66, so it's a way to keep it with her afterwards. Earth is still a part of her even if she'll never be able to return to it.

Interview with Martin Kleppe
Tumblr media
Martin Kleppe is best known as the creator of JSFuck, an esoteric coding style of JavaScript, allowing one to write fully functional JS with just six punctuation symbols. While it is similar in style to brainfuck, JSFuck is not an invented language but a discovered one; amazingly, it is native to JS. This means it is runnable as JavaScript without additional code to interpret the symbols or translate them into some other system. Kleppe's other projects deal with code that functions on multiple levels simultaneously; programs that use their own code as display, or self-referential polyglots that contain markup, script, and image as a single text calling itself in different contexts.
» How did you first discover the weird features of JavaScript that make JSFuck possible? Was there a moment when you realized you could write essentially any JavaScript code in just the tiny set of JSFuck characters?
This happened in 2012 when a friend showed me a Tweet with some cryptic JavaScript. There were no Latin letter involved but it was possible to execute the code and it resulted in a simple word. Nothing really fancy when I compare it to what is possible today but at that time I was super impressed! And it made me curious.
So I started to walk through the code step by step (or better: char by char) and already learned a lot about type coercion in JavaScript. The basic idea was to convert primitive data types to a string (eg: true + [] == “true”) and then pull out single characters (eg: “t” from “true”[0]). These characters then can be joined together to generate new words.
Then the question came up, if it is possible to get more than just a handful characters by playing this kind of Scrabble game. The solution was to access and call methods that generate new strings.
» The amazing thing about JSFuck is that it's all already there in JavaScript – you showed us a new approach to writing JS, rather than constructing a language artificially. What is it about JavaScript as a language that makes JSFuck possible? How/why did JavaScript end up this way?
Some people say that JavaScript is a bad programming language and poorly designed. But I wouldn’t agree. In my opinion it was designed with a lot of freedom in mind – which is a good thing. It allows you to go in different directions and seek your own style. There were no strict types or rules how to use it, and many people came up with their own idea about how to solve problems. It is like a mutation or evolution that is unveiling new aspects. In my work, I always try to break a given limit. And a way to achieve this is by digging deeper and deeper to explore new areas that we not have thought of.
Tumblr media
Two Aurebesh scripts
» Aurebesh.js extends the JSFuck approach, simplifying some of the combinations of symbols into letters from a list of alphabets. The scripts have very different aesthetics based on the alphabet, some of which look more obfuscated than others, but it’s still pretty abstract – from what I can tell, it’s using the letters to represent JS atomic parts which are then constructed into JS commands. Could you tell me a bit about why you went this direction?
Aesthetic was definitely one of the main reasons. Especially the style of other writing systems that we are not used to. I was always fascinated by words written in foreign alphabets, because you look at them and know that there is a meaning behind but you can not even read it. In school I learned Russian first and then English which was way easier for me, because the latin alphabet was something I was used to.
This and vodka were the reasons, why I first started the ЗВЕЗДА СМЕРТИ (Death Star) project. Later I was invited to JSConf.asia where I presented the Matrix intro sequence written with Asian characters only. Another conference led me to Tel Aviv that made me think, how JavaScript would look like when written in Hebrew from right to left.
The term “character” from the Greek “χαρακτήρ” combines many meanings and also reflects, that symbols has a different aesthetics. Aurebesh.js plays with that fact in a new context and let us translate code written in English into other writing systems.
When you look at these scripts, can you figure their behavior in your head or do you need to translate them into regular old javascript to see what they’re actually doing?
I’d love to say: Yes, I can read this code and parse it in my head. – But to be honest: I can’t! At least, it would need pen, paper and a couple of minutes to solve it. Like a crossword or sudoku puzzle. That’s why I build little helpers to do that for me.
youtube
Kleppe presenting at JSConf.eu 2014
» Could you explain a bit about the animated quines (Hello World 1k etc) and how this style developed? The animated quality adds a great immediacy to the minimized quine; the code shows us what it's doing even while we're reading it, giving a way past its obfuscation.
Let’s explain the term “quine” first: A quine is a computer program which takes no input and produces a copy of its own source code as its only output. A simple one in ES6 is:
(Q=a=>alert('(Q='+Q+')()'))()
Quines are dealing with recursion as a topic, because when you execute the result, you will see the same result again and again. The /world was the first animated quine I did and it presented it at JSConf.eu in 2013. It is based on the Qlobe program by the incredible Yusuke Endoh. I saw that years ago and was so fascinated by the spinning world inside of code, that I wanted to do that in the browser. I decided to not read the Ruby source code but figure out everything at my one. It turned out that it was really a long and hard way to go but I learned more than ever before.
In the end it was shorter (exactly 1024 bytes) than the original and also included code highlighting. The feedback on this was overwhelming and I decided to do more. My second animated quine was Mandelcode – code shaped in the form of a Mandelbrot and once you click, it zooms into the fractal. After some time I started to evolve the topic and created the Matrix 雨 quine using Asian characters only and recently VOID where invisible code was used to hide the program itself.
» Please tell me about your new incept10n.com project
This may look different to what I did before, but in the core, it explores the limits of languages used in the Web, too. Incept10n is a so-called polyglot, a single file written in different languages. In our case the file is an image, a style sheet, a script and a web page – all at the same time. This works, because I manipulated the header section of an JPEG to inject code. When you run it in different contexts it will behave depending on its surrounding.
When you open the page in the web browser, it renders an HTML page. The HTML contains a reference to an external JavaScript pointing to the same file. This will execute it as a script that dynamically writes a CSS link tag. The loaded  file then renders a background image into a section of the page. This is finally the manipulated JPG, showing an image of the movie Inception.
There are other examples that merge images and scripts to bypass security restrictions or render a descriptive page around a funny squirrel picture. My motivation was to see how many levels of inceptions with different formats can be done in the browser. I wanted to go some steps further but stumbled many times. After some time I was not even sure if it will all work out. Reading the JPEG specs, fiddling with old-school HEX editors and learning some new command-line tricks helped me out in the end.

The Mechanic
So, @thedeaf.artist on instagram made a challenge for Deaf Awareness Month, which basically is creating a deaf/HOH OC! I thought it was a super fun challenge, so I decided to join in!
The Mechanic (nobody knows their name, including me oop), is a mysterious figure in the Outer Rim. As a wandering figure, they set up their mechanic shop from their ship on a rotating basis, spending a couple months on each planet they stop at. Many people find themselves in the Mechanic’s shop, most of whom are Jedi and Sith alike. The Mechanic can fix almost anything, including the sabers the force users that end up in their shop wield. But every once a while, the Mechanic will produce a lightsaber, beautiful and intricate, and bestow it to another. Rare is this event, and they rarely explain themselves. Nobody knows if the Mechanic is a force user or not, or whether they have (or had) any affiliation with either Sith or Jedi, or another force religion. But regardless, other force users find them a surprising ally in the field of mechanical repairs.
The Mechanic is partially deaf on their right side. Born with a birth defect, their right montral and lekku did not grow properly. Their hearing suffered, with the hollow bone that allows Togrutas to hear mostly undeveloped on their right side. They wear a hearing aid that facilitates the unique form of echolocation Togrutas have, passing sound waves through the metal chamber and connected to the bottom portion of the montral and to the temporal lobe where sound waves are processed by the brain. They also wear weights on the bottom of their montral, where the lekku should be, in order to better balance their head and the left side’s weight better. The Togruta rarely talks, many times using Aurbesh Sign Language to communicate, but also can speak and sign a good number of trade languages useful in the area they stay in.

(Image IDs in alt-text)
I'm not planning on starting Star Wars Legion (I do not vibe with the system), but I picked up a box of clone troopers and a box of battle droids on the cheap, so here we are. Plus, I have blue acrylic rods from my (still in progress) Necrons, and it would be a shame if I never used those for lightsabers.
So this is the General Zin, a yisgiss (ophidomorph) Jedi Master who has been given command of the Republic's 133rd Clone Trooper Legion, and a squad of their men (Heavy CT-6099, Marksman CT-0701, Sergeant CT-0434, and Troopers CT-5637, CT-5684, CT-7648, and CT-5821). The Aurbesh on their bases is their Legion number, three-letter-abbreviation of their rank, and their serial number. The 133rd Legion are also known as Zin's Battleaxes, largely out of the troopers' appreciation for their general's tendency to get stuck in with them.

Who’s Your Daddy?:  Tasiele Shan and Her Lover(?)
Tumblr media
Does Satele look more like her father?  Or her mother, Tasiele Shan?
The relationship between Jace Malcom and Satele Shan is pretty epic:  two great leaders of the Republic, the future Supreme Commander and the future Grand Master of the Jedi Order.  Their son, Theron, is an obvious SWTOR fan favorite and a hero in his own right (though as a spy, his accomplishments can’t be as publicly acknowledged).  Theron did not know who his father was until he was 26 years old, nor did he speak to his mother openly as her son until that age.  This makes for complex, adult connections.
One thing that several people in fandom have discussed is Satele’s decision not to tell Theron about Jace or Jace about Theron.  While I was ruminating over the question, I came across the point that Satele likely didn’t know who her father was.  Satele had gone through life without a father; if you’ve never had it, how can you miss it? Jedi!Theron wouldn’t have the worst life if he didn’t know who his father was... but then he turned out to be not Force Sensitive, and there went all of Satele’s well-intended plans.
There are a lot of unknowns about Tasiele Shan, Satele’s mother.  Nothing is known about her father.  Tasiele first appeared in a sentence on Satele’s Holonet entry, coded in Aurbesh: ‘Jedi exiled her mother.’  In the SWTOR encyclopedia, it was revealed that Tasiele was a philosophical revolutionary who advocated for attachments among the Jedi.  (Yes, in our world’s psychological sense, they do have positive attachments to those in the order, in the Galaxy, and at Temple; ‘attachments’ in the negative sense for the Jedi run along Buddhist lines, per George Lucas himself.  Attachments lead to desire, which leads to suffering, which leads to the Dark Side, in a nutshell.)  These teachings were disruptive enough that Tasiele was indeed exiled.  When the Jedi went to retrieve her from the remote planet she’d been left on, Tasiele was gone, leaving her writings to Satele, who is describe as still “young.”  I’ve speculated in my fics about how all that went down, but there’s no canon consensus.
So what do we know?
Satele was born on Brentaal IV.  Brentaal IV in Legends is a commerce-driven planet.  It is an intergalactic marketplace, sitting at the crossroads of two major trading routes, the Perlemian Trade Route and the Hydian Way (which was still being created when Satele was born in 3699 BBY; it was complete in 3694).  As a result, the Brentaal system has become increasingly war-torn, as it is highly desirable for both the Republic and the Empire.  At the time of Satele’s birth, however, the Sith Empire was about 18 years from returning, so the planet was at peace and thriving, the Hydian Way being established right nearby.
Based on what we see in comics and mentioned in Legends novels, Brentaal IV  was an active, bright planet with lots of entertainment and a grand variety of products.  As a crossroads between two trading routes, if a person had the money, no desire could be left unfilled.  Based on the description on Wookieepedia, I’m personally viewing this as almost a space Renaissance Venice; those with money run the government, and unhappy citizens make for bad sales -- the government still needs to keep the people happy.  The buildings tend to be bland because of corporate interests, but then people insist upon trees and organic features in their environments.
That’s where Satele was born.  That doesn’t mean it’s where Tasiele met Satele’s father or became pregnant.
Briefly, I considered whether Tasiele might have done Revan’s tradition of found family:  whether with the Exile or Malak or with the crew of the Ebon Hawk, Revan created his family not by blood but by choice of association.  Who says Tasiele didn’t adopt a baby girl, and then only later discovered that this child was Force-Sensitive?
Revan, that’s who.  In Shadow of Revan, he identifies Satele and Theron as his bloodline; their biological connection enabled him to watch over them and their forebears for centuries while the Emperor’s prisoner.  So as intriguing as the adoption angle is, Revan puts the kabosh on it.
Tasiele wrote about attachments in a positive way, but we don’t know what sort of experience Tasiele has had with them. We know Tasiele named Satele.  However, beyond that, there is nothing explicitly said about the nature of their mother/daughter relationship.  Depending on Satele’s age when her mother was exiled, she could have already been at the Temple; Satele was found to be Force Sensitive early, so her education as a Jedi may have started very early.  Alternatively, she might have been removed from her mother’s custody if she was under a certain age or if Tasiele objected to her child being parted from her, based upon their attachments.  Again, Tasiele’s ‘revolutionary’ stance adds a lot of baggage and complication to how we try to read the relationship -- if there was one.  If Satele and Tasiele were close before Tasiele’s exile, then maybe all of Tasiele’s writings were rooted in her attachment to her daughter and how the daughter thrived.
That leaves the obvious biological question of how Tasiele became pregnant.  Star Wars takes place long, long ago, in a galaxy far, far away.  Most writers in Star Wars are mute about getting pregnant and how not to get pregnant; it’s only recently that we have canon evidence that women menstruate in SW universe (a good Padme novel).  Likewise, there’s not much about birth control other than “taking precautions.”  Could Tasiele have just gone to a clinic and picked a specimen that had potential (assuming we have sperm donors in the Old Republic)?  Would she have screened for potential Force Sensitivity?  Or did Tasiele cruise the bar scene and have a one-night stand, purposefully?  One does not need a relationship or a connection to someone to get pregnant; if Tasiele just wanted a child, there are a lot of ways to have a kid without getting into an involved relationship with someone.
Or did Tasiele get attached?  Were her writings initially about someone she felt something for?  Obviously, she would not name names, but speaking about attachments to individuals would have likely been in her journals.  Did Tasiele Shan have a relationship that resulted in her pregnancy?  If so....
Does Satele’s father know he is?  Or did Tasiele hide it?  Satele hiding it from Jace has a different context; Satele had signed onto the Jedi way, without her mother’s ‘deviant’ philosophy -- there was no room for Jace and a baby in her attachment-free life.  In Satele’s mind, it was better for all parties to be unaware and parted from each other, especially if Theron became a Jedi himself.  In contrast, if she was in an attached relationship, Tasiele may well have told her lover about his child.
So far, what I’ve written above sort of revolves around the idea that Tasiele was out in the galaxy, away from the Jedi Order, and that whoever the father was, he was not a Jedi.  After I gave this to Spouse to read for the first time, he reacted positively and wondered aloud, “What if Tasiele got exiled because the father was a Jedi master?”
And that’s yet another scenario to consider (and this is technically the last paragraph I wrote, ha). Tasiele Shan was on the edge, philosophically, but there is no mention as to how powerful she was.  We know Satele is very powerful; she’s actually been toned down in-game compared to some of the mind-reading/mind-control powers she had in novels.  If a Jedi:  was it a love affair?  A passionate night?  Something unsavory?  Was it swept under the rug for him, but not for her (pregnancy as evidence of misconduct)?  Or did Tasiele take the fall for someone she was very attached to?
If Tasiele was pro-attachments and she was in a relationship with the father of her child, Jedi or not, then what happened to him?  Was it a hostile break-up?  Did he die?  Did Tasiele intend to tell Satele about her father when she was old enough?  Was all of that thwarted when she was exiled?  The exile itself sounds as if it was done against Tasiele’s will rather than mutually agreed upon, so it probably looked more like an arrest than an amicable “go sit on this planet, please.”
Again, where Satele was during this entire process is not known.  There is no mention of her father in any of the information we have, so we assume he was either not involved ....or that what he did, said, wanted -- none of that ultimately mattered or affected what happened to his daughter.
How all of this affects Satele is not known.  We know she does not inform Theron or Jace of their connections.  That may be prompted by the situations discussed above.... or that might just be Jedi teachings about attachment at work and the perils for a Force-Sensitive child. We only know she’s reading her mother’s works after Zakuul.  Satele was Grand Master of the Jedi Order; she was viewed as a paragon.  However, when we dig a little bit into who Tasiele Shan was and why she is not around, this reveals, potentially, a far more complicated Satele with, maybe, a troubled childhood; Echoes of Oblivion feels even more hollow to me after writing this.  This post offers no conclusions, only speculation and perhaps a springboard for other fanworks.
