little date at the shop (b.c)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
y'know, depending on what happens, i might do little blurbs on mechanic!chris 🫢 i never thought i'd like it this much 🤭 i do hope you guys enjoy this cute fic! let me know what you think 🩷
feedback is greatly appreciated 🥰
“Do you think he'd like it if I brought him food?” You ask Hyunjin, pinning your phone against your shoulder.
Your friend on the line scoffs, and you can see him rolling his eyes. “I'm sure he would, yes,” Hyunjin answers. “He's always liked that kind of stuff.”
A smile graces your lips. “Okay, I'm going to bring him lunch then,” you giggle, putting the phone on speaker before looking at your delivery app.
“If I knew you are going to act like this, I never would've introduced you,” he says with a laugh, mumbling to himself about how Chris is all you talk about.
“I'm sorry, I'm sorry!” You dramatically apologize, halting your search for food to give him your attention.
Hyunjin sighs, taking a minute before he speaks again. “No, it's okay. I shouldn't be complaining. I haven't seen you this happy about someone since the last guy. I'm just really glad you found a good one,” he explains, causing your lips to pout.
“I appreciate you looking out for me, Hyune. I couldn't ask for a better friend,” you tell him, tracing random shapes on your table.
“I better be your best man at the wedding,” he jokes, bringing the mood back up.
You let out a cackle, and you tip your head back. “You'd have to take that up with Chris,” you remind him while shaking your head.
“Oh don't you worry, I'll be sure he knows!” He chuckles. “I have to go. If you see him, tell him I said hi.”
You agree to his request before you bid him goodbye. You hang up the phone and go back to your delivery app. You remember him mentioning that he loves sushi, so that's what you'll order.
After waiting for twenty minutes for the food to arrive, you quickly hop into your vehicle. You gently set the delivery bag onto your passenger seat, buckling up before backing out of your driveway.
During the drive towards Five-Star Auto, you couldn't help but begin to feel nervous. You and Chris have been on four dates since the day Hyuintro “introduced” you. In your perspective, everything's going well. You're just slightly confused as to why he hasn't made things official yet.
You bite your lip, zoning out at the stoplight as you recall him saying he doesn't have time for relationships. Does he even want one? Is that why he hasn't kissed you again? A million questions run through your head, making you panic a little.
“Maybe he's being respectful,” you mumble to yourself, pressing down on the gas as soon as the light turns green.
You pull into the parking lot of the garage, noticing his vehicle being the only one. You park next to him and shut your vehicle off. A deep breath comes from your lips, trying to calm yourself down before heading inside.
“He'd tell me if he doesn't want to see me anymore,” you say to yourself, looking at your reflection in the mirror.
You grab the food beside you and exit the vehicle. After locking it, you shove your keys into your hoodie pocket. You peek through the open door of the garage, looking for Chris.
“Are you looking for me?” A voice whispers into your ear, causing you to jump. You almost drop the food, miraculously managing to catch it while turning around.
Chris chuckles, his hands resting behind his back. “I'm sorry! I didn't mean to scare you,” he apologizes, bringing a hand to your arm and gently strokes it.
“How are you so quiet?” You ask him in disbelief, pressing your free hand against your chest. “Every time I see you, you're sneaking up on me.”
“I wouldn't say I'm sneaky,” he mentions, leading you into the place. “I think you're just really bad at noticing your surroundings.”
You scoff, rolling your eyes playfully. “Okay, you got me there,” you groan, tapping your fingers against the bag you're holding. “It's your lunch time, right?”
“It is,” Chris beams, his eyes looking down at your full hands. “Did you bring me lunch?”
“I, I bought us lunch,” you clarify, feeling yourself heating up in embarrassment. “That is if you wanna have lunch with me.”
The grin on his lips widens, and you watch him shake his head. Your fingers grip the bag in your hands, thinking he's going to reject the idea. A gasp leaves your lips when you feel his lips kiss your forehead.
“Of course I want to have lunch with you,” he reassures you, grabbing your free hand before walking into his office.
You sit down in front of his desk, pulling the chair closer so you don't make a mess. You can feel his eyes on you as you untie the plastic bag. “I didn't know what you liked exactly, so I took a guess,” you tell him with flushed cheeks.
You pull the trays of sushi out, setting them in the middle of you both. “Oh, I actually love this one,” Chris points to your favorite, making your heart flutter.
He reaches into the bag, grabbing the two packets of chopsticks. He opens both of them as you uncover the sushi you bought. Chris holds out a pair to you with a smile.
“Thank yo–” you cut yourself off when Chris moves the utensils out of reach. Your eyes meet his, noticing the admiration in them.
“I'm really glad you stopped by,” he says softly, gently placing the chopsticks in your hand. “And thank you for the food.”
Your heart starts to pound against your chest, the tension between you two thickening. “Of course. I… You make me really happy,” you mention loud enough for him to hear, directing your gaze to the sushi.
Chris stands up from his chair before taking two steps towards you. His index finger hooks beneath your chin, lifting your head slowly. Your breath hitches in your throat as he leans forward.
“You make me happy too,” he whispers, a shiver running down your spine at the feeling of his fingers.
“Can I ask you something?” You ask quietly, your eyes roaming his entire face. Chris nods his head, crouching a bit so you're eye level. You set down the pair of chopsticks before laying your hand over his. “Are you planning to ask me to be yours?”
His eyes widen at your question, and you notice the tips of his ears start to turn red. “I–” Chris pauses, looking down for a few seconds before returning his gaze to you. “I planned on it, yeah. I was just trying to find the right time.”
“Now is fine,” you giggle shyly, removing his hand from your face so you can play with the tips of his fingers.
“It's not too fast?” He asks, furrowing his brow.
You shake your head, confused as to why he would think that. He laces his fingers with yours before kissing the back of your hand.
“I talked to Hyunjin about your ex. He mentioned that he liked to move fast with you and that it made you uncomfortable. So, I was taking things slow until you were ready,” he explains with a sigh.
Oh, I think I'm in love. You think to yourself, bringing your free hand to his cheek. “You are so sweet,” you whisper, closing the space between you.
Chris releases a breathy moan as your lips collide with his. He hasn't kissed you since the night you met, and the feeling he got then is still the same.
You pull away from him before he can deepen it, earning a whine from him. You smile and tap his cheek lovingly. “So, Christopher, can I be yours?” You ask him, planting a couple more kisses on his lips.
“You already are,” he breathes out, pursing his lips during one of your quick kisses.

Hurricane Relief
Tumblr media
This is part 2.
You can read part 1 here.
Pairing: Carmen Berzatto x fem!reader
Summary: The aftermath of a disaster and how we learn to cope, move on, and grow.
Word Count: 4k
Notes: 1) This is based off of s1e8, but we are going to pretend that Syd did the tablet thing correctly and Carmen doesn't lose his shit in ep7.
2) I am a completionist at heart so I felt an obligation to finish this because I know that if I was reading something and I didn't get a confession at the end I would riot and I aim to please.
__
“Where did you get the money for bail?”
“Used our two week parachute.”
Y/n, barely conscious felt something pushed up against her chest. She peeked her eyes open and saw that she was sitting in the backseat of Carmen’s car already buckled in. She shifted over to her left so she could rest her elbow on the armrest against the door and balance her head. Carmen glanced through the rear view mirror to confirm that she was still asleep, he locked the car door so she wouldn’t fall out.
Richie looked back before uttering a small, “Thank you, cousin.” It was strangely vulnerable to thank someone and even more vulnerable to do it with an audience, even if they were asleep.
“All good.”
After a few more beats of silence, y/n assumed that their bro moment had reached its conclusion and that she could finally pretend that she had just woken up. Then she heard a sniffle, at first she thought that her mind was playing tricks on her but she heard it again, and then a few more times. Maybe now was not the best time to announce her presence.
“You okay?” Although she couldn’t see Carmen’s face she was hearing concern and a bit of apprehension. She could tell he wasn’t comfortable with consoling Richie.
A small but broken, “Yeah…I’m okay” escaped Richie’s mouth.
Unable to resist, she stole a quick glance at the rearview mirror, hoping to catch a glimpse of Carmen's eyes. They appeared slightly glassy, yet the softness in the corners revealed a simmering sense of relief. Though he was clearly upset, she reassured herself that he would ultimately be alright. Once they returned to the restaurant, she planned to check in on him, but without pressuring him. Recognizing his need for rest, space, and comfort, she understood that he often neglected these needs for the sake of others but she was determined to ensure he received the care he truly deserved.
Carmen took one last look back before pulling out of the parking spot and driving them back to the restaurant. Y/n was wide awake now but she knew that both Carmen and Richie needed some time and space to process what had happened. None of that would work if she was visibly awake, she had a feeling that they would pretend to be all tough by pushing their problems aside because they didn’t want a girl to see them being “sensitive”. So she planned to keep her head down and wait till they were near the restaurant to “wake up.”
The ride back was slow and smooth, Carmen didn’t drive over a single pothole, he stopped softly, and didn’t honk once, which was rare in Chicago. He wanted to drive her home and put her to bed but he had a feeling that she would be pissed if he dropped her off home while they went back to the restaurant.
They were 45 minutes away from the restaurant but he was wondering if he should wake her up when they got there, or if he should let her sleep in his car. If he left her in the car she would be able to sleep in but it wasn’t safe, what if someone broke a window? At the same time, if he brought her to the restaurant, there was nowhere for her to rest. He was driving on auto-pilot while he was trying to figure out the best way to approach the dilemma, because if there was one thing that Carmen was good at it was overthinking.
On top of worrying about y/n, Carmen had to steal a few quick glances at Richie to make sure that he was ok, it was hard to tell because he was looking out the window but the reflection showed Richie’s eyebrows were furrowed, he was thinking about something, or someone. Thinking was better than being depressed.
A small selfish part of Carmen wondered if anyone would ever dissect every small aspect of him to make sure that he was also ok, like he did for others.
The car ride was peaceful and quiet until a neighboring vehicle suddenly honked near y/n’s window, causing her to jolt and accidentally slam her forehead against the glass.
“Jesus, fuck.” Y/n hissed while putting her cold hand on her forehead to calm the bruise that would inevitably form. Her cover was blown.
Carmen’s head whipped back, “Are you ok?”
“I'm good, it's just a small bump.” She tried to rub the forehead to quell the pain but it was too tender. “Pay attention to the road, I don’t want to see another police officer for the rest of my life.” Carmen involuntarily flicked his eyes to y/n’s forehead through the rear view mirror.
Y/n couldn’t tell what Richie’s status was and he hadn’t made a single peep the entire car ride, even when she was “asleep”, so she couldn’t gauge whether or not she should talk to him.
“We’re glad to have you back, Richie '' She left it open and didn’t expect any response in return. He didn’t respond but he moved his eyes from the passenger window to the windshield and sat up straight. Y/n felt a bit of uneasiness, this was the longest Richie was quiet and she kind of wanted him to make fun of Carmen or at least laugh, something to show that he wasn’t hurting.
The rest of the car ride was quiet, they eventually pulled up to the restaurant and they walked in. Y/n and Carmen had left the restaurant as it was and even though they knew it was a mess, it was a different beast in daylight. Both y/n and Carmen walked to their lockers to grab their emergency toothbrush and other hygiene products in an effort to look less dead.
Once they freshen up they went their separate ways. Y/n walked behind the counter and pushed some styrofoam cups aside to start the coffee machine. She waited for the coffee to finish brewing before pouring a cup for the three of them. Richie took one of the cups off the counter and disappeared.
She walked over to Carmen who was throwing away half eaten food from the tables.
“Here.” she handed a cup over to him and once again their fingers brushed each other but this time she forced herself to ignore the electricity. Whatever she was feeling would be an additional burden to Carmen, one more thing for him to worry about. Carmen didn’t need this right now, he needed some calm and space.
She heard a soft thanks, and even though she was supposed to give him space she couldn’t suppress the urge to check on him one more time. His eyes were no longer glassy but the dark circles told her everything she needed to know. He glanced up at her face, finally getting his first good look at her since they left the station. He walked over to the kitchen door and signaled y/n to join him right before he disappeared. She heard some shuffling and she walked over to the kitchen after taking one more look at Richie who looked like he was doing better.
Y/n went to the kitchen and was pleasantly surprised that it was not as bad as the front, it wasn’t great but still miles better. The kitchen was empty but Carmen’s office door was wide open, she peered inside to see him holding a ziplock filled with a bit of ice and water.
He shut the door and pulled out a chair indicating that she was supposed to sit. She sat and looked up at Carmen before feeling the ice on her forehead. She groaned in discomfort, “You didn’t have to.” Carmen moved the bag around so the cold didn’t hurt. Y/n felt like she wasn’t doing enough, she was supposed to take care of him and here he was taking care of her. That wouldn’t do.
“How are you feeling?” Y/n asked while avoiding his eyes. She couldn’t look at them without getting distracted and she needed to focus on Carmen.
“I'm good.” Soft but left no room for elaboration. Y/n knew she couldn’t crack a few jokes to make him feel better, that was wholly inappropriate. She also couldn’t probe for answers either because that would just stress him out, any form of pressure would probably make him feel like a caged animal being cornered. Saying nothing felt like they were ignoring the very obvious elephant in the room. It was like all roads lead to nothing unless Carmen opened up a bit more, which didn’t seem like was going to happen so y/n settled for a distraction.
“Is it bad?” Y/n said while touching the bag of ice barley missing his fingers. She ignored Carmen’s body heat that was radiating onto her side and she also pretended not to notice the way that his lips parted in concentration.
“I'm going to need you to be honest with me, don’t worry I can take it. If I look like shit you’ve gotta tell me so I can get some impromptu bangs or something.”
“You don’t look like shit.” Carmen mumbled.
“I bet I don’t look good,” Y/n swiveled around towards Carmen’s desk for some scissors, “bangs it is.”she exclaimed. Y/n was only joking but she needed a bit of a breather before she broke her own rule about giving Carmen some space.
Carmen grabbed the chair’s armrest and swung it swiftly so she was facing him again. Her heart leaped out. “You look like how you always do.” He was too much of a wimp to call her breathtaking, the word felt foreign in his head; he could only imagine how disturbing it would be to hear it from his lips. He gently grabbed her chin before putting the ice on her forehead again. Y/n couldn’t escape this time.
The silence was killing her and she thought she should at least talk about her own experience to let him know that they could talk to each other about stuff like this.
“I was really scared...” Carmen looked into her eyes and they softened a bit.
“I was scared that Richie was going to be in jail for basically forever…and …and,” Y/n hesitated, was what she was about to say to Carmen considered cornering him?
“I was scared for you.” Carmen’s hand stalled midair, still holding the bag of ice. He didn’t move for a few moments, “I was worried that this would..” She couldn’t think of what to say next. She could feel the gears in her head working overtime to churn out something that would summarize what she was feeling. “..break you and you wouldn’t let me help you.” She felt her eyes start to burn and a lump form in her throat that was choking her. She wouldn’t cry, he couldn’t deal with his own problems while consoling her.
“I would have been okay.”
Y/n waited till the lump in her throat stopped burning. “You always are Carmen, but sometimes it’s nice to be better than okay…” She couldn’t do anything about her voice cracking but she might as well finish before she became a mess, “You deserve it.”
Y/n said her piece and they both simmered in the quiet. A sigh reverberated through the walls and Carmen looked into y/n’s eyes. His lips parted and closed a few times as he tried to formulate a response but nothing he could think off would sound as well-put together as y/n’s thoughts. He felt like he was seven again, a stuttering pathetic idiot who couldn’t say something as simple as a thanks.
Y/n knew that they were done for now, she had exhausted him so she was finally ready to give him that space that he desperately needed. She slowly got up and slipped the bag of ice out of his hand and walked towards the door. Carmen didn’t look at her as she left but as soon as the door closed, he sank to the floor and sat there for a very long time.
He finally leaves the office to help with the clean up and is greeted by the crew. Y/n was at the very end scrubbing her countertop which was covered in glitter. As he walks past the crew to survey the damage to the front, he gets a pair of gemstone covered stringy underwear swung towards his face.
“This is not respect.” Ebra continues to wave the underwear at Carmen’s face.
“No, chef. That is not respect.”
Carmen walked to the front and felt another weight lifted off his shoulder to see that the majority of the mess had been cleaned up. It felt like he was finally able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. His chest felt a bit lighter and he knew it was thanks to the people around him.
He walked to the kitchen and started slicing some onions, he would be in charge of family dinner. As he was making the sauce, he couldn’t help but notice that he had yet to hear or see y/n, not that she wasn’t in the restaurant but it was like she was doing her very best not to be noticed. She was quietly peeling garlic and even though Carmen hadn’t responded to her, he could tell that they would be alright. He just knew in his bones that they would come back together, he was going to make sure of it.
As he opened the tomato can and dumped it in, he noticed a bit of green. Mold? Killing the heat, he swiped the sauce away and picked it up to remove the plastic to reveal a wad of money.
Y/n heard Carmen yell for Richie but she didn’t think much of it before she started hearing, “Shit…Fuck..”
A few minutes later the whole crew were opening cans of tomato sauce to dig out the money that was hidden within. Once all the money was out, Richie cleaned it up and sorted it, the crew cleaned up the sauce and Carmen finished up the pasta.
They sat down for dinner, but y/n had no appetite. However, she couldn't afford to leave her plate unfinished without drawing attention. She discreetly observed Carmen, piece by piece, just to make sure that he was okay, actually more than okay. His hands were relaxed, she took a bite. His shoulders were at ease, another bite. His jaw was unclenched, yet another bite. And finally, the most crucial part, she stole a fleeting glance into his eyes. As she raised her head slightly to check, to her surprise, their eyes met. Against her instincts, y/n held his gaze. It left her breathless. For the first time, y/n saw a serenity in Carmen's eyes that she had never witnessed before.
With this newfound contentment, it became evident that Carmen had discovered a new version of stability. If maintaining their current relationship, or lack thereof, could grant him such ease and relaxation, y/n was willing to patiently wait for him to embrace a future together, even if it meant waiting for years or even decades. She didn’t want him to relish in the calm but expect it, expect that life was also fun and full of love. Her wish was for him to experience a life of unwavering stability, so that even if unexpected challenges arose as he always anticipated, he would know he was not alone and that he would always prevail.
Y/n was proud of him, which is a strange thing to say considering the fact that he was a tax paying adult, but she couldn’t help but give him a small smile that said I see you and I’m so fucking in love with you.
Carmen wasn’t a poet by any means but he finally understood why people write poems about other people. A picture of y/n would have captured her beauty but a poem would have explained it. It was just a smile and he didn’t know why but it was burned into his memory. Y/n looked away to ask Sydney something but if Carmen closed his eyes she was still smiling at him. Y/n had given him many smiles but he knew at this very moment that he couldn’t last another day without her being his. It wasn’t just a smile, it was the weight behind it, the pressure that it put on his chest when she looked away from him, the gleaming aura that wouldn’t let him look away…
It was everything, it was his everything, you were his everything.
Dinner concluded, everything was cleaned up, and Carmen was no longer in his fantasy land where y/n was being lit by the sunlight or party lights and making him yearn, he had never yearned before. Carmen assumed that seeing her in the shitty kitchen lighting and in her messy apron would bring him back to reality but he was sorely mistaken. The pinnacle of his admiration wasn't confined to the previous night or that particular meal; it persisted, unyielding. It didn’t die down when she spilled a bit of oil on the counter, or when she flipped of Richie for god knows what, or when she sampled Sydney's experimental dish and tactfully suggested it needed something more, or when she stepped over to the side to redo her hair, or when she shook her foot because her legs were aching. He could never get tired of her. He could watch her stirring for days on end, each rotation captivating him anew. He could witness her redoing her hair for centuries, and boredom would remain a foreign concept. He could watch her smiling till the sun exploded billions of years in the future, and still, an insatiable craving for more would persist within him.
Time flew by and before she knew it the clock struck 10:30pm and y/n looked up from her stovetop and realized that she was the only person left in the kitchen. It was a bit strange to be alone in the kitchen without Carmen, it felt like a regular room. It lacked the mystic that Carmen brought into any room. She wandered into Carmen’s office but it was empty. The front was empty as well and y/n was getting a bit worried. She grabbed her cardigan from her locker, turned on her phone flashlight and just went to the back of the restaurant and sure enough she found Carmen lighting a cigarette. The phone light was the only source of light other than a very dim street light at the very end of the block, and the small fire lit on the end of the cigarette. She saw that he was surrounded by quite a few cigarettes, five plus the one he was smoking now.
Carmen looked like a deer caught in headlights. Y/n leaned on the wall so she could see what was compelling him to stay here for what must have been an hour but it was just a brick wall. Carmen shrugged off his jacket and handed it to her.
She waved her hand, “I’ve got a sweater and it's not that cold today.” She was getting deja vu.
“The bricks are rough.”
Y/n leaned forward to avoid scraping her favorite cardigan but he took this as an opportunity to stand in front of her and slip the jacket through her arms. He straightened the jacket near the neck line. His hand glided down the open panels. Although he didn't physically touch her, she could sense his warmth emanating through the narrow gap.
Y/n said she could wait but what she wouldn’t give for him to grab the collar and kiss her. His lips were wet from licking them and she didn’t notice that he was staring at her lips too.
Carmen snubbed his cigarette on the wall near y/n’s waist, and then dropped the cigarette but leaving his hand still there. “Y/n.”
A soft hum escaped her barely parted lips as she finally lifted her gaze to meet his eyes. It was as if she had entered a trance while staring at his lips, and even when he attempted to snap her out of it, she effortlessly slipped back into another spellbound state, captivated by the depths of his eyes.
“I have to kiss you.”
He searched her eyes for a sign of hesitation but y/n wrapped her arms behind his neck and leaned forward. Carmen closed the gap and at that moment he knew that he was never going to be able to get enough of her. He slipped a hand behind her head and another on her hip. He pushed her deeper against the wall and he was having a hard time thinking, his head was spinning and it was making it difficult to imprint this sensation into his memory. It felt like trying to remember an ocean’s wave or a ripple in the sand.
His lungs were burning and even though he knew that he couldn’t stay conscious for longer, he couldn’t pull himself away.
After a few moments, y/n withdrew slightly, locking eyes with him, her beautiful gaze penetrating his soul. Unable to resist the magnetic pull between them, he instinctively leaned in, their foreheads touching. The kiss left him breathless, yet he yearned to prolong the contact, craving more of her touch.
Their breath mixed with each other before y/n tightened her grip around him and leaned forward to kiss him one more time, this time with a deliberate slowness that amplified the intimacy between them. He made a conscious effort to imprint the sensations in his memory, but they tantalizingly lingered before elusively slipping away, beckoning him to kiss her once more for a more vivid recollection. It felt new even after the first, second, third, and fourth kiss, as if each one unveiled a new layer of their connection. Carmen could die here and people would be able to honestly say that he died a happy man. He smirked against her lips, unable to help himself.
They pulled away for one last time before Carmen slid his hands down her body and eventually they had lost contact.
Y/n grabbed his hand and led him back to the restaurant and in the bright lights, y/n looked down at their interlocked hands trying to finally remember the sensation that she had missed a few days prior but was pulled out of it when she noticed that his hands were covered in cuts and scrapes.
“What the hell happened to your hand?” Carmen's head felt like it was swimming.
He mumbled out a soft, “I think it was the bricks,” and then added, “I told you they were rough.”
“You should have moved them as soon as they started to hurt.” Y/n grabbed for the first aid kit so she could tend to his wounds.
Carmen didn’t care that his hand was scraped up because he didn’t want any part of y/n digging into the rough brick, and a scuffed hand was a small price to pay.
“Better me than you.”
“You’re literally so annoying, I can't even look at you right now. Take me home, Berzatto.” Y/n humorously rolled her eyes and finished wrapping him up.
And with that, Carmen finally found himself standing on solid ground, a place of stability and certainty. In the embrace of y/n's love, he discovered a resolute foundation upon which he could build a future with her. He no longer felt adrift, but rather firmly anchored in a love that provided solace.

aftermath - higuruma hiromi
cw: blood, death, homicide, manga spoilers (I mean, if you know who tf he is you're fine tbh), language
notes: established relationship, gender neutral, inspired by if I killed someone for you by alec benjamin (was gonna put the song in but I refuse to put the gigantic eyesore that tumblr auto gives me and idk how to fix it)
synopsis: how should one react when their lover shows up on their doorstep covered in blood?
part two
Tumblr media
You didn't mean for your breath to hitch in your throat so violently, creating an audible gasp from the air that lodged itself. Your fingers gripping the edge of your opened door with a grasp so desperate your hand already began to ache. Nails digging into the hard wood as you tried to decipher the pressing image before you.
"Hiromi-" you choked out. Voice wavering as his presence alone was enough to make your knees buckle. Dark, unwavering eyes boring into you. Seemingly nothing within them but a glimmer of something primal, macabre, and- desperate. You weren't a stranger to the unyielding looks, always transfixed on something well beyond his reach, but this was different. A look of a monster, and his attire following suit.
He was usually a well dressed, dapper man. But as he stood upon your doorstep, your opinion flipped instantaneously. A ruffled, crumbled suit jacket littered with dark blotches around the cuff, his white shirt underneath being the tell tale sign of what the mysterious blots were. A stark contrast, red on white, staining the previously ironed shirt right down to the threads. Cheeks splattered with the same red, a large spill just under his eye, like he had tried, unsuccessfully, to wipe his face. "What have you done?" You whispered, speaking softly as if it would untangle you from seeing him so heinous.
"Can I come in?" A gruff, almost uncaring, voice in comparison to your own. You didn't know why you hurriedly nodded, why you shifted out of the way for him to enter your home, why you thought letting this man back into your home was a good idea. It was against your better judgment, but you wracked your brain about the thought of 'there has to be a good reason.' This was the man you loved after all, not a cold hearted killer, or so you came to believe.
Hearing the door click shut and the lock engage, his eyes scanned his surroundings before returning to you. Tired eyes once again looking into you, almost trying to see through you with the intensity of it. "I killed them," he said bluntly, without regard and without further context. His words made your shoulders slump, your body creating shivers as his words hit you so profoundly.
"Who?" Was all you managed to ask, the word escaping your lips so quietly you hoped he would be able to hear it at all. Not asking why, not asking where or when. Who.
"The retrial was today," he said simply. It was all you needed, an impactful statement to which your eyes widened and your mouth opened. Quickly shutting it as no words were found on the tip of your tongue, your throat suddenly dry at the revelation, you could only stare. Looking over him to find any sort of answer, your eyes stopping at the collar of his suit jacket. There once was a small sunflower pin on the lapel, one you had gifted him years ago to replace the former. It was gone. It came off. Could the man you love really be so violent? So much so his beloved pin was ripped from him in the heat of the moment?
You couldn't say what had possessed you to step closer to the man, your lover, the murderer. Each step becoming easier as you neared him, stopping just before him and looking up. So close you could smell the gruesome, irony twinge mingling with the scent of his cologne. It made you nauseous, wanting nothing more than to spill your guts right then and there. But you swallowed hard and forced yourself to look upon the man who had sworn he'd love you to the end of his days. "Are you alright?"
A man of his situation might have said no, should have said no. "I've never felt better," he answered honestly. Looking down at you with a ghost of a smile, a mind fraying image now engraved in your psyche. Your fingers reached for his shoulders, letting out a shaky breath as your hands came in contact with him. It was damp.
"Oh my god," you spoke, forcing yourself to close your eyes at the sensation. You feared to lift your hands to what you would see on your palms, subconsciously pushing down the thoughts to the deepest part of your mind. "Oh my fucking god," you repeated, unable to form a single coherent thought as you couldn't stop yourself from circling back to the feeling.
But the hand, drenched in the same crimson, that gently touched your cheek made your eyes snap open and you inhaled sharply. There was blood on his hands, staining his fingers in sin so much so it was under his nails. That blood was now on you, ripping your stomach right out of your body as you wanted to heave. Desperately searching his features for any sort of answer, but only coming to the same conclusion.
The man you loved killed two people - and liked it.

so, in regards to your recent posts on kane-tucky and usa food industry, do you / how do you keep active hope and not slip in into apathy and "looking out for my own" get out of dodge mentality? im having a hard time articulating this, but what makes you not curl up into a shaking mess in anger resentment and a deep desire for change that likely, if ever, wont happen in our lifetime.... any advice is appreciated
The short answer is "getting out and doing stuff in the real world, educating, volunteering, whatever is within your ability"
I will add that "looking out for your own" is not...bad. Like I don't know precisely what you mean by this phrase, but it's actually very important to come to terms with the fact that your impact is strongest where your feet touch the ground, and you have a responsibility and relationship to the people immediately around you, the place immediately around you.
This has not been a popular opinion of mine in the past, but...you can't and shouldn't care about literally everything on the planet. There is of course huge global disparity with access to resources and aid networks, and the largest communities we belong to are: all of Earth and the whole human species.
However: your level of agency is so low with issues that are happening on the other side of the world from you, compared with issues that are happening in your home town. And we're seeing people just get completely burned out from compassion fatigue without ever doing shit because the global responsibility is pushed on us and the local responsibility is not.
I hated my hometown for a decade. In high school I wanted so badly to leave. It's one of those desolate-feeling towns that's developed enough for a shopping center and big chain retailers but not enough to have a sense of community or a single bookstore. I've never been able to place myself precisely along the urban-rural spectrum because I feel isolated from even isolation: there's nowhere to go that doesn't feel razed by human development, where you can't hear the noise of traffic on roads, but it's all cattle pastures, sprawling storage facilities, auto parts stores, big, empty churches. One wrong turn will put you in a dark valley where there are rotting, derelict trailers on cinder blocks hidden back in the woods, and this place has that same feeling of "nowhere to go."
And I felt paralyzed by everything bad happening around the world and the fact that I was just one person, and I had gotten the horrible impression that the only thing I could do about anything was vote and donate money to links I saw online. The worst lie the internet taught me was that in saving the world, nothing matters except Power, Money, and an unclear third category that involves throwing bricks at cops.
But I touched grass. And the weeds taught me something. Do you see the parking lots, the harsh pavement and gravel and brick? I saw. I was surrounded by this landscape of brutal, totalitarian surfaces, impermeable concrete locking the soil away. But in the cracks in the surfaces, dandelions, purslane, and spurge were thriving.
I observed that the spurge stretched out like a shaggy rug and padded the concrete surfaces. The old leaves of the dandelions, as they withered, caught bits of dirt as it flowed into drainage ditches after rains. Soil was forming, and the sprawling structure of the early weeds seemed specially adapted for the task. In older cracks, more plants moved in; I found a wild ruellia blooming in a paved road, an evening primrose. And in some places, seedling trees.
Have you seen what happens when a sidewalk is left unmaintained for years? It disappears. The roots slowly buckle and break it into pieces, and it vanishes beneath lush leaves and moss. A tree growing in a crack in concrete will slowly pry the slab apart.
This is how my IRL rewilding project got started—just pulling plants from the pavement cracks, raising them in pots. I was surprised and awed at the resilience of the plants. I found little trees in concrete with at least two years' growth on them, that had survived being mowed down multiple times.
The weeds changed my viewpoint on the world forever. Up until that point, certain facts about power and politics and money had seemed like law, but I'd suddenly seen that there was a deeper magic.
The dandelions' survival made it possible for others to survive, which in turn made even more life flourish. They could not demolish and remove the concrete and pavement, but they could overcome it by refusing to be destroyed, because the power to take care of each other is in their nature.
People have made fun of me for telling others to go plant a tree. I think culturally we have this ingrained dismissal of things like that due to the twee, cutesy associations of "tree hugging" environmentalists, except in this instance it's because planting a tree is pointless in light of something something systemic issues, not because climate change isn't real, or...whatever reason people have for finding environmentalists cringe. (That is kinda sus now that I think about it.)
And I'm not saying planting a tree will fix climate change. I'm saying that something in my brain had broken and planting a tree unbroke it.
Go outside. Touch grass. Do the work in the immediate community you belong to, in the place you are in, where you have the best and most impact. We have the power to take care of each other, and that power grows stronger the more we are cared for.
The internet is a good place to share information, but that's fucking it. The real stuff, the stuff you can touch with your hands, the stuff that will heal despair, is out there in the real, touchable world. You need to see and feel what you are doing. Don't just give help—accept it. The power to take care of each other is in our nature, and by nature we can give more when we thrive as a result of others' care.
I hope this helps.

Hey! I love your writing! It’s amazing! It’s wonderful to see more representation of bigger girls with the bts fanfic community! So thank you! 💜
I would like to request a college au with Jimin. Jimin is the hot popular athlete and reader is kinda invisible to everyone. They meet and Jimin likes her. But people don’t like it and start to make up these rumours about them both (more so the reader). So reader breaks things off to save Jimin.
Please and thank you! Love your work! 💜

Looking out the window, you watched as campus had been clearing out from the current short term break that was being offered. Christmas was around the corner and due to the storm in your hometown, you'd be spending it on campus alone. There wasn't too much to complain about, however. Your father had done a good job of making sure that you were in a nice apartment where you could bounce between being an introvert and extrovert at the same time. You kept to yourself and often stood out amongst many like a sore thumb. You only had yourself to blame for being interested in going to a PWI and managing to accomplish such with a full academic ride.
Your best friend had been on a plane, so there was nothing left to do besides put on something decent besides your sweat and t-shirt combo of pajamas. Out of your closet, you managed to pull out a hoodie and jean jacket combo with dark ripped jeans and comfortable converse. Your curls had been doing amazing throughout the pre-winter and current fall weather, so a low slicked bun was your go-to. A cafe had been in your interests, so you packed a tote bag with your laptop and some headphones with the idea of premeditated peace.
Pulling your car into a parking spot, you exited while keeping your head low of the other surrounding students who had been up here for a reason gone undetermined by you. It was much quieter inside, but your blood ran cold when you saw Park Jimin. He was...not supposed to be here at this time. Behind the counter with his blonde locks and fitted apron, serving up hot coffee to some hot bimbo with his attractive smile. You were next in line -- not that he'd know because he was too busy smucking it up with the campus sweetheart slash whor-
"__," The sound of his name will never not cause you to freeze. You tried to find somewhere to look - Ah, the menu. "Are you here for your usual caramel macchiato with two pumps of brown sugar and mocha drizzle?" You looked to him with panic, surprise that he remembered. It wasn't that he was cold, but he was different from the last time you'd seen him.
"You're the most warm thing in the room," He said while holding you from the back, trying to catch his breath from the fresh release that both you and him had come down from. Naked and underneath your comforter, he might've been right.
"The air conditioning is on auto, i could turn it on," You said, turning to him and snuggling against him. You looked up from his marked chest and into his eyes, a smile on your features. Of course, he didn't want you to leave the bed. You could feel that in the grip that he had around your waist. Plus size or not, Park Jimin knew how to handle you in all the right ways. Your hands danced throughout his dark curls and he closed his eyes, basking in you and everything that you meant to him.
You remembered when the two of your first interacted. It was an accident, getting jammed in that elevator. He was known all around campus for his many talents and being a heartthrob of course. You hated closed spaces and nothing more than being trapped in that elevator, but he made sure to keep you comfortable that entire time.
You interacted two more times after that, both of them being accidental. The third time was when you'd been one of the only students in the library during Thanksgiving. Of course, he had been horsing around with some girl but you couldn't deny that the sly smile on his features was enough to distract you from the red lipstick that was on the collar of his shirt.
"Are you going to walk home this late?" He asked, the instant regret that you felt coursing through your veins wishing that you'd decided to drive instead of tag along with your study buddy. You nodded your head, gathering your belongings with a smile at your features. His stare lingered and it made you feel a little uncomfortable in the best way? Your cheeks warming over and it wasn't the heater blasting through the air conditioning. "Let me take you home. The temperature is dropping outside."
"You don't have to. I'm around the block from here and I'd rather not be in debt." You slung your backpack over your shoulder, shuffling your hands inside your hoodie before you'd given him a warm smile. He missed it though, too busy checking out the curves that had been hidden underneath your sweater. Plus size and all -- He couldn't keep his eyes off you. "Excuse me," You said, moving past him with the intention of brushing past him and making your way home.
You'll never forget how his hands felt. While they were pleasuring you or his thumb lodged in your mouth to apply pressure to your tongue. The way he knew how to pleasure you just about in every part of your body -- places that you forget to even consider when it came to pleasure.
You'll never forget when the rumors kicked up. The slight speculation about the glances he'd deliver to you when he was on the soccer field after making a goal or catching you roaming around the common ground area when he was with his friends. It was hard to deny that there had been something going on when he was a little too drunk and almost kissed you when you'd gone to one of your first and last campus parties.
You'll never forget the online bullying that you suffered from. People had thought that Jimin was only dealing with you because he'd been behind in a class or was participating in some sort of bet. Accusations of your weight and off guard pictures of you doing something just as regular as eating. No, you won't forget how the dance team surrounded you in the alleyway of your apartment while dropping your trash off and threatened to have you expelled if you continued to associate with him. Not even just yourself, but getting Jimin removed from his throne on campus and shunning him out. Knowing that he wanted a future in entertainment, you couldn't let that happen.
So you ghosted.
"Can you hurry up? I'm in a bit of a rush here," Someone said behind you said, causing you to snap from your old reality and into your current reality. You nodded your head and ordered exactly what he said, pressing your hand into your forehead as you'd gone to sit by the window. You continued to hear Jimin's sweet giggle and it was becoming all too much.
You stood from the table and mentally said fuck it, exiting the shop without your coffee. It was ridiculous how much you couldn't tell him the truth, but reputations needed to be protected.
"Hey, you left without your coffee!" Jimin said, grabbing your arm lightly which caused you to turn around. The regret of smelling his sweet cologne and a soft smile to match. You took your coffee without a word, shaking your head to actually shake him from your brain. "Why do you keep avoiding me?"
"It's better this way. Okay?" You spat at him, furrowing your brows and avoiding his expression. You could tell from the slump of his shoulders and darkened expression that he wasn't pleased. He'd tame your attitude on a regular last year with orgasms behind orgasms that made you forget how to even form an attitude. It was different now. "Can you move from in front of my car? I need to leave."
"No."
"What?"
"I said no, __," Jimin folded his arms over his chest, ignoring the surrounding reactions from strangers that were close enough to hear it. You looked to him as though he'd lost his rabbit ass mind.
"You're crazy." You said, half of your body in your car and half of it out.
"I never took you as a selfish person, but I'm finding out that you are." He spat. Your expression of surprise faltered more than you'd like to admit and your eyes swelled. Selfish? You? "How could you disappear on me after making me...Did you just want to use me for my status?"
You scoffed aloud, not even believing that he believed what he'd been accusing you of. Of course, you had take into consideration the rumors that were being spread and the fact that people were fat-shaming and threatening to have the both of you expelled. Both of your futures had been at stake and it was your decision to simply make all that go away. "You might want to watch your mouth or you might find out something that's true," This was the only way.
"I didn't use you for your status. You were nothing but an amazing orgasm after a hard day of doing something you could never do. You've had a full ride access to everything in your life, so excuse me for wanting to relieve stress with the campus dick that was already being talked about. You were a good fuck, never anything more to me, Jimin. Isn't that what guys like you do to girls?" You tilted your head with a smirk, eyes overspilling. You couldn't control them. "Why do you care? Get back to serving your coffees and while you're doing that, remember the position you'll never have again in my life."
Despite the crack of your voice at your last few words, it was impactful enough for him to chuckle and nod his head. He lowered his head and covered his mouth area, processing the words that probably did more damage than you ever intended to do. You swallowed thickly, wondering why you'd been waiting here for him to respond. Why?
Nothing was said though. He looked around, suffering from embarrassment that you could only come up with as being rejected from a fat girl. He ran his fingers through his blonde hair, watery eyes looking at you one last time before he sniffed and walked off.
The entire car ride home had been full with nothing but silence and your occasional sobbing. You promised yourself to contain it as best as you could, eyes flickering to the coffee cup that had been in its respectful cupholder. Something in your heart ached and you just wished that it would get easier as the hours passed on. That coffee rested in your kitchen and the intuitive part of you knew..
You had broken Jimin's heart.

Today's Uber was also my first time riding in a Tesla.
A quick review…
I had no idea how to open the frickin' doors. I know making them flush to the door reduced the drag by a percent or two, but those handles were not intuitive and probably not very ergonomic for people with hand or finger disabilities.
The interior was fine. But it was extremely plain. It reminded me of those bachelor pads of rich tech bros who are super into minimalism.
The giant iPad-like screen to control EVERYTHING seemed silly. And I hate that so many car makers are copying that. Real knobs and buttons can be memorized through muscle memory and are much less of a distraction. With the touchscreen, any change you need to make requires taking your attention off the road and going through menus or even submenus. There is no way to feel the controls without distraction.
The ride was pretty bumpy and uncomfortable. Not sure if that is a suspension issue or if the weight of the batteries causes that. But my car from 2008 has a much smoother ride.
The seatbelt felt cheap and it was extremely difficult to buckle. I kept having to reset it as it would lock up on me before I had enough slack.
Everything in the interior felt cheap. The seat upholstery was this fake leather and felt a bit tacky. And the little A/C vent for the rear seats was very cheap plastic. I felt like I was going to break it when I adjusted the airflow direction.
The good stuff is pretty much the reason people buy Teslas. The acceleration is effortless. Even at slow speeds you could tell. it is very quiet--no blaring engine noise. They have an excellent battery system with industry-leading range and an impressive drivetrain that goes fast and stops fast. I'm sure it is very fun to drive. Just like my brother's muscle cars.
But they put little effort into fit and finish. They did almost nothing to make sure the car was comfortable for passengers. It's like their entire design philosophy was, "As long as it goes fast and has excellent battery life, we can do the bare minimum with everything else."
And that strategy has worked so far. But as I see actual auto manufacturers with decades of experience start to design EVs, I don't think a zippy car will be sufficient for Tesla to stay competitive. Once other companies figure out the charging network dilemma, I think Tesla is going to have some major problems.

Ten Seconds (Pt 3)
Tag squad: @atiny-angel @swifteforeverandalways @katries @axelwolf8109 @bamfbuddie @greek-freak101
Letty pulled up next to Dom, everyone already placing bets on who would win. "I got fifty on Toretto!" Leon shouted. Vince and Jesse added two twenties each. Brian held up two fifties and winked at Letty.
"How do you guys have so much money?" A young guy whined. "Sell things you don't need" Brian shouted.
Letty made a mental note. Dom picked up Brian. "My trophy" The blond laughed.
"Everybody to your cars" Dom kissed Brian one more time before entering his red car. Letty smirked a bit.
"Ready, set, go!"
The four drove off, Letty would give Dom some credit, he was really fast but she wanted to make a statement.
After about a minute, she hit her NSO and drove past Toretto, however, he appeared to know something she didn't as her engine started to spark.
"Shit!" Letty came to a rough stop, skidding across the road for minute and watched him drive past. Letty took a deep breath and laughed, the rush hitting her despite her loss. She determined her engine was okay and drove back to the starting point.
"Whatcha smiling for?" Toretto laughed at her, Brian kissing him all over. " I had you. I almost had you" Letty pointed at him. "Your engines fried, can't race again" Jesse took one look at it and made a face. "Bumper's dented to hell and back"
Sirens blared loud, blue and red flooding the area. "Shut! It's the cops!" Everyone fled, Letty running to her car and watching as Vince separated Brian from Dom, through neither looked happy about it.
She sped off, sticking to alleyways and the back roads, thankful that the chaos covered her car. Then she spotted Toretto and sped off faster, catching up to him.
"Get in!" She gestured, he bolted to her and buckled in, Letty drove off fast and crazy, managing to get a cop to crash into someone else and laughed.
"Thank you" Dom took deep breaths. "You must really hate cops" Letty noted. "Two years down in Lompoc" He said quietly. "Juvie for grand theft auto, but I actually just got into a car accident with my mom" Letty muttered. "Guess I couldn't stay away from that life"
"Why did you save me?" "I was kinda hoping you'd let me keep my car" "Not a chance" Letty laughed.
She parked on the street where Dom directed her to and raised an eyebrow. "After race party?" "I'm gonna kill em" Dom growled. "You wanna come in?" "Um, sure" Letty locked her car and let him hold the door for her. Brian leapt from his spot on the floor to hug Dom.
"Vince wouldn't let me go after you, I was so worried" "Where is he?" Dom growled again. "Playing guitar to show off" Brian pointed behind him.
Dom stomped off, stopping to yell at Leon and then Jesse. "Those two years in Lompoc really freaked him out huh?" Letty sighed. "You have no idea" Brian grabbed a beer.
"Why is she here?" Vince whined. "Because she kept me out of handcuffs!" Dom yelled. "She didn't just run back to the fort and keep my husband here!" Letty snickered a bit. "You can have any beer you want as long as it's a Corona" Brian said in a deep voice to mock him.
"That's Vince's" Dom slapped Brian's back. Letty looked the other man in the eyes as she wiped it off on her shirt before taking a swig. Mia came downstairs after running her hands through her hair.
"Hey Letty" "Hi" Letty choked a bit.
"Why don't we go upstairs and you give me a massage?" Brian grabbed Dom's hand. "I'm not tired.
Brian's blues narrowed. "I said, let's go upstairs and you give me a massage"
Leon and Vince laughed. Dom smirked and wrapped Brian's arm around his shoulders. "Hey Martinez, you owe me a ten second car"
Brian cackled
"Guys knock it off" Mia said, her brother and brother in-law went upstairs. "I need to talk to you, alone" Mia glared at Vince, Leon and Jesse.
"Let's go"

H A L C Y O N: Frontier America
L O G 5
Tumblr media
Standing before them there was a man. He wore a lab coat stained in dried blood covering formal wear - a single-breasted suit ensemble done in pink, muted blue, and black fabrics. He wore flat-bottomed buckled shoes made from celestial print leather designed in vivid red, pastel orange, turquoise, and white. It had a blocky appearance. His whole body trembled as he held a gun, a red-painted Auto 9M, while yelling at the group to not move an inch. Dhyrek snapped his fingers as an unseen force threw the man into the wall. Quickly Dhyrek moved forward and with a single punch to the jaw he knocked the man out. Turning back to the group he told them to find something to bind the unconscious attacker with and handed Raul the gun. “No time to waste, Maris.” He and Maris helped Jensen over to the CPFI injector who was clearly getting worse. Pale, wet skin. Eyes were very watery, and the color went from Tuscany to flax. Hair thinning and teeth appearing brittle and somewhat translucent. Maris patched into the machine and bypassed its protocols. Looking through the nearby medical cabinet she found mixing solutions, stabilizers, and inactive though very old specimens. She cursed to herself. “What now?” Dhyrek asked. She explained the samples were old…maybe too old. Cocking his gun as the scientist pulled it towards his forehead. “Will it work?” Dhyrek asked. Pushing them aside she inserted the sample into the centrifugal slot and attached the reagents and said, “…we’ll soon find out.” Across the room the would-be attacker looked directly at Jensen as his eyes went red with horror and screamed, “…he’s infected! He’ll kill us just like the others! Kill the mother fucker! Blow his –,” but before he could say another word Dhyrek knocked him out with a single punch as a pool of blood dripped from his nose.
The machine started the synthesis process. Turning around Maris barked, “…would you quit knocking him out. We need him aware…and unharmed if we’re to find out what happened here.” His face soured, but Dhyrek saw the wisdom in her words. The mixing solutions flooded the stabilizing unit and the mixture dripped into the test tube with the Lyssavirus sample. A loud click could be heard as the machine attached the vial to the hyper injector. Pulling the attachment, she walked over and administered it to Jensen. Suddenly, he started to convulse as he soiled himself. Maris screamed for Dhyrek to find something for him to bite down on otherwise he’d swallow his tongue. Using his cybernetically enhanced eyes he scanned the room. Near the door was a locker with some brooms. He yelled at Raul to fetch one. Nearly stumbling over his feet he made it to the locker, but as the name implies it had a lock on it. “… it's locked.” Dhyrek yelled for him to move and with a snap of his fingers, the lock shattered. Pulling the door open he grabbed the broom and tossed it to Dhyrek who promptly snapped off a piece and shoved it in his mouth. Dhyrek ordered everyone to hold him down until the fit subsided. Although it felt like hours it was maybe half a minute of screaming as a bloody foam erupted from his mouth, Finally, he went motionless. Maris moved everyone away. Her eyes went wide and said, “…no, not fucking today!” Pulling out a vial of adrenaline from her med-pack she injected Jensen and administered CPR, but he wasn’t responding. Dhyrek calmly, but firmly told her to move. His eyes narrowed. The room dimmed into darkness and he snapped his fingers.
To be continued...

Waze vs Google Maps: Difference Of Waze and Google maps
Tumblr media
Waze vs Google Maps
When planning a weekend trip, travelling to a new city to find a must-try food truck, or attempting to beat traffic on your way to school, Google Maps and Waze provide you all the necessary information to ensure you get at your destination as efficiently as possible. In order to keep you informed and safe while travelling, Google is releasing even more useful information today.
Report occurrences in Maps more readily to support your neighbourhood
Imagine that when you’re driving, traffic stops all of a sudden. Maps is making it simpler for users to report incidents and useful information, such as nearby construction, lane closures, objects, and police presence. These reports originate from the Maps and Waze communities, and you can even see which app a report originated from. This helps keep other drivers informed while driving. Larger, easier-to-tap reporting symbols will be visible, allowing you to share updates more quickly.
Examples of such icons include the closed lane that caused traffic to back up on your way to work. Drivers passing by can then verify the occurrence with a simple tap thanks to other drivers. Global rollout of this enhanced method of reporting occurrences on Maps is currently underway for iOS and Android devices, as well as Google CarPlay and Android Auto-equipped automobiles.
With the updated instructions in Maps, you can travel stress-free

Finding your way around unfamiliar structures, such as a friend’s spacious apartment complex, might be challenging if you are unsure of where to park or enter. The new destination guiding feature in Maps will now automatically light up your building and its entrance as you get closer to it, along with indicating any parking lots that are nearby, when you are driving there. This can be especially useful if you’re travelling late at night or into the night to a location you’re unfamiliar with. In the upcoming weeks, destination assistance in Maps for Android and iOS devices, cars with Google Built-in, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay will become live internationally.
Drive carefully since Waze has added additional camera alerts
Across the globe, some communities are installing cameras to police regulations such as speed limits and carpool lanes. Google is adding the capability to view additional types of cameras on Waze to help you drive more cautiously and legally in your area. The Waze community contributes these notifications by updating the map with publicly accessible data from local authorities as well as real-world road information.
Now, for instance, you will notice a warning when you approach a camera that records images for violations including as speeding, running a red light, utilising the incorrect lane (bus, HOV, or carpool), failing to buckle up, or using a phone while operating a vehicle. These alerts function as a useful reminder about the traffic laws in a certain location, allowing you to make any necessary adjustments. Globally, Waze is rolling out new camera types for iOS and Android.
Using Waze, you can tell friends about traffic in real time
Road congestion can arise from enjoyable activities such as sporting events, concerts, and parades. Waze’s new traffic events feature will help you see how nearby traffic is affected by these events. As soon as the event begins, Waze will notify you if you have places saved close to the affected region or if you have just travelled through the area. Google will display useful information to you, such as the reason for the incident, any road closures, and the current state of traffic. You’ll also be able to share these details with your friends and family with ease, helping them to better prepare for their own ride. Waze’s new traffic events feature is currently available worldwide on iOS and Android.
Waze allows you to navigate while your screen is locked
Waze users now have the ability to receive navigational assistance, such as turn-by-turn directions, real-time traffic updates, and danger alerts, while keeping their phones safely secured. This month, lock screen navigation makes its debut worldwide on Android’s Waze app. It will arrive on iOS in the autumn.
You can stay updated on all of your travels with the aid of these new features and practical alerts on Waze and Google Maps.
Are Waze and Google Maps the same
No, Google Maps and Waze are not equivalent.
Despite the fact that they both offer navigation services, their methods are different and they serve various user demands.
Google Maps
Beyond just navigation, Google Maps Comprehensive offers a plethora of options, such as walking, biking, public transportation, and site exploration.
Data-driven: Heavily depends on Google’s extensive data capabilities to provide precise traffic and map information.
Comprehensive details: Offers comprehensive information on companies, attractions, and reviews.
Waze
Community-driven: For real-time traffic updates, road danger alerts, and police locations, it mostly depends on user-generated content.
Totally absorbed in driving: Primarily intended for drivers who place a high priority on spotting traffic and choosing the quickest path.
Social aspect: With features like voice chat and carpool possibilities, it provides a more engaged experience.
Waze is designed particularly to improve driving, whereas Google Maps is essentially a flexible tool for all your travel needs.
