Please oh please may I request tasm!peter using his super strength to impress r? I don’t know if you’ve seen the TikToks from Romeo and Juliet but he is dangling and does a pull up to kiss her and like that vibe of just being a bit of a show off to fluster her
You may! Thank you <3
tasm!Peter Parker x fem!reader ♡ 876 words
“I read something today,” you say, steam trailing behind you as you carry your microwave dinner into the bedroom.
“Yeah?” Peter doesn’t pause in pulling on his suit. He nearly falls over when his leg gets stuck in the spandex. You’d think after so much practice, he’d be better at it. “That’s great, baby. Big step for you.”
“Shut up.” You consider chucking a tamale at him, but no, not worth it. “I read a statistic about crime in New York.”
Now you have Peter’s interest. He cocks his head, the suit hanging from his waist. Not getting distracted by his naked torso never becomes less of a trial for you.
“Something you think I should know?”
“Mhm. Did you know most crime here happens between noon and seven pm?”
“Oh.” He rolls his eyes, putting his arms in their sleeves. “I know where this is going.”
“It just seems,” you say thoughtfully, “like maybe you could stay here with me tonight. Since, you know, most of the crime is already over.”
“I have class until six-thirty, sweetheart. What do you want me to do?”
“Stay home.” You take a bite of your tamale, but it’s hotter than you expected. You chew with unladylike open-mouthed bites, trying to breathe out the steam. “Obviously.”
Peter grins at your misfortune. You glare, and he makes a face so dopily in love you almost can’t stand it.
“I have to go,” he says. “Whatever the statistics say, there are still crimes happening, and if I’ve got their schedule figured out those guys will be coming back to try and rob the gyro place again.”
You swallow your food, frowning. “Damian’s place?”
“Yeah.”
“Oh, fuck those guys. Go get ‘em.”
“I knew you’d get it.” Peter pulls on his mask, backing up towards the window. It’s been opened so frequently it doesn’t even squeak. You shiver at the cold wind it lets in. “Back later.”
“Be safe,” you say automatically, pulling out your laptop and tapping random keys until it turns on. “Don’t go after guys with guns.”
“I won’t.”
You think Peter’s lying, but it’s the sort of white lie you’re okay with being told. You try not to think too hard when he goes out on his patrols; the worry would drive you insane if you did. You can never really fall asleep until you feel that wind come in through the window again, though, his body slipping into bed beside yours.
You’re just navigating to YouTube when there’s a schwick, and your laptop shuts. You stare at the splatter of webbing on the back side of your screen in silent indignance for a moment before tracing it back to the source.
“Peter.” Your boyfriend is dangling from the window of your eight-floor apartment by his fingertips. By only one set of fingertips. You know all about his abilities, and still the sight makes your heart shoot up into your throat. “What are you doing?”
“Aren’t we forgetting something?”
“What?”
He attaches his webbing to the windowsill, using that hand to pull off his mask. “Uh, a goodbye kiss?”
You roll your eyes, but it’s hard not to look smitten when the thing your boyfriend is sternest about is romance. You get up and follow the line of his web to the window.
“You’re going to clean this stuff off my laptop when you get back,” you say, tone softening with fondness as he looks up at you.
“It’ll dissolve,” he replies. “C’mere.”
You bend, and Peter meets you halfway, muscled arms shifting underneath the tight material of his suit as he pulls himself upward. His lips are warm. The ends of his hair shift in the wind, tickling your forehead. You have to stop yourself from leaning all the way out the window to follow him when he pulls away.
“Mm.” He licks his lips. “Save me some of those tamales, please.”
“Do not tell me that I taste like bean and masa,” you plead.
Peter grins. “No, I’m just teasing. You taste like you. Which is to say…” He pulls upward again, finding you just where he left you. “...very good.”
Your lips curve against his, staying even after the kiss. “Flirt.”
“Maybe.” He lets himself drop down below you, knuckles to his chin. It’s odd seeing him like this, so at ease with the city whizzing about nearly a hundred feet below him.
You bite your lip, and his eyes drop to the motion.
“Okay,” he says. “One more.”
You grin. “Now you’re just showing off.”
Peter makes a noncommittal humming sound, but you know he’s well aware of the impressive flex of his biceps and forearms as he lifts himself upward for one last kiss. You make it a good one, soft and lingering.
“Is it working?”
“Maybe,” you repeat his answer to your flirting accusation. But when you look at him again, your voice drops into a more genuine register. “Hey. Be safe tonight, seriously.”
Peter’s eyes go soft. “I will. I’ll see you later, pretty girl.” He winks before pulling the mask on. “Keep the bed warm for me.”
“If you’re not back by midnight, I’m putting an ice cube on your pillow.”
His laughter echoes in the room after he’s gone.

Could you write a fic where the reader is Stark’s daughter and he catches her and Peter fooling around in her room/main room whilst they think he is out?
caught in a web of kisses
pairings: peter parker x f!reader, tony stark x daughter!reader
brief: (requested!) misunderstandings and compromising situations with peter lead to a whole of cackling and screaming throughout the stark tower compound. a brief look into the life of y/n stark and your struggles with your stupidly overprotective dad and chaotically cute boyfriend.
tags: humour. fluff. borderline crack fic. "enemies" to lover. established relationship.
a/n: thank you so much for requesting! i appreciate it :) it always makes fills me with so much joy to know someone seeks out my writing <3
requests are open!
wc: 1.4k
Perhaps it wasn't your smartest idea to pretend to absolutely despise your father's intern in front of your parents and the Avengers but . . . well- how could you possibly resist yourself when it was so much fun sharing sneaky, mischievous smiles with Peter as you both shot teasing glares across the room to maintain your appearance as rivals?
Plus, it was just a little prank to keep your relationship with Peter, as well as the days spent at the compound, more interesting. If anything, you and Peter were single handedly entertaining the entirety of Avengers with your debates and arguments. You were fairly sure they had bets going on about the two of you. It was harmless, really.
And it wasn't like you were going to keep it from them forever! You would tell them . . . eventually. You just- hadn't thought anyone would find out like this. With you and Peter in such a . . . compromising situation?
You almost let out a small groan of exhaustion as you sunk into the unnecessarily large couch your dad had purchased for the lounge, melting into Peter's side as you fiddled with the remote to lower the lights and dim the windows. Pouting at the sliver of light that still managed to peek through the sunroof, you let out the smallest huff as you closed that as well before turning to take a glance at your boyfriend.
He let out a small yawn before shifting with your attention on him, cuddling into you tighter as he murmured, "You sure no one will be back for another 2 hours? 'Cause I swear if we get caught because you wanted to take a nap on the couch, I will never let you live this down."
Snuggling deeper into the blanket you'd draped over the two of you, you couldn't help but let out the smallest breathless laugh as you responded, "That's if they don't kill you first."
"Hey!" Peter quipped, voice growing the tiniest bit slurred as the nap you promised him began to look awfully tempting, "I'll have you know that I think your dad and also everyone else is quite fond of me, alright?"
You couldn't help but let out a snort as you mocked, pretending to push up fake glasses on the bridge of your nose as you raised the pitch of your voice, "I'll have you know-"
The gentle whack you got on your arm made you stop mid-sentence as you giggled, answering your boyfriend more seriously, "Everyone's schedule says they have stuff going on until at least 6:00, unless they were all just to magically-"
"What happened to, "God dad, if I have to see your stupid intern's face one more time, you're going to have to hold me back from stealing your repulsors and pulverizing the shit out of him?""
You're entire body pauses as you feel Peter tense in your arms, the both of you wincing in sync as you slowly, cautiously, turn your head around to face your dad, voice dragging out as you say nervously, "Uhm...so you see-".
Peter's bewilderment is audible as his head snaps to you, eyes furrowed in confused amusement as he hisses, "Why the fuck are you starting to quote Dhar Mann right now?"
"Peter", your dad interrupts, tone much too pleasant for the situation at hand and consequently sending both your spines into automatically locking up straight as you await his next move, fight or flight instincts activated, "You have 3 seconds to run."
"Mr. Stark, we can talk about this-"
"3 . . ."
"Oh shit!", your boyfriend scrambles, legs tangling into themselves and the blanket in his attempts to get free and run as he presses a ragged kiss to your forehead while declaring muffled through his panicked breath, "If I don't make it out of this alive, just know I wanted you to have my babies and be Y/N Parker-Stark."
The confession sends a surprised wheeze to rack through your body as you see him begin to take down the hallway, sparing a glance over his shoulder at you and your dad before maneuvering himself onto the ceiling and into the vents.
Your eyes tearing up from laughter, you try to speak through your immobilizing giggles as you address your dad, "Dad, father dearest, please- come on- spare him-" "2 . . ." "Dad! C'mon- you have to admit . . . from a completely scientific and objective lens with zero romantic emotions taken into account, considering all the teenage boys out there, Peter is definitely one of the better choices", you tried to level, summoning the critically-acclaimed award winning Y/N Stark inside of you and not the moderately concerned girlfriend worried that her boyfriend's cause of death may in fact be the same repulsors Peter had helped your father tweak in the lab earlier today. How unfortunately ironic. Shuffling over, albeit a bit awkwardly, to where your dad stood, you cautiously peered closer at his profile, trying your best to assess exactly how much trouble you were in. You knew deep down, he truly wasn't all that upset, though, maybe a bit grumpy about having been kept out of the loop for this long. In fact, you were positively confident he was quite happy with who you had chosen. Despite all of his teasing and successfully accomplished fatherly duties of bullying the both of you, it was stupidly evident how much he cared for Peter like a son. Not just anyone was allowed to intern for the Tony Stark, after all.
Lost in thought, you couldn't help but yelp slightly and flinch into your father's side as a muffled voice echoed down from the ceiling, cooing, "Aww Y/N, you really mean that?"
Cursing at your boyfriend's surprising lack of self preservation skills taking into consideration his literal job and particular set of talents, you glared upwards. Hoping your disappointment at his lack of distance somehow radiated through the insulated plaster, you deadpanned, "No, I was just playing. I wish I'd gotten with Harley."
"What?!" squeaked Peter, like a little vent rat, his offended gasp echoing in time with your dad's final countdown.
Giggling once again at Peter's frightened scuttling at the realization that he was out of time, you quickly reached to grip at your dad's suit clad bicep before he could make a motion to call at the Iron Man suit, your voice taking on a more serious tone as you asked softly, his opinion and approval still highly valuable to you, "You're ok with me and Peter dating though? Genuinely?"
The twitch of his signature smirk on the corner of his lips and the nodding glint in his eyes sent a happy thrill through your heart, instinctively grinning wide as you squealed and rushed to give him a tight hug, speaking through a stifled smile into his chest, "Ok, you have my consent to go squish my little spider now. Please don't bring him back to me flattened or burnt- I quite like how he is now." Your father's wrinkled nose and vocal sound of disgust at how you'd addressed his intern sent you into another fit of laughter as he spoke, "Ground rules since I know the kid's out of his freaky super-hearing range. One, ew. Never address him like that again, I might vomit. Two, if I see the two of you touch, I am immediately invoking a 50 year social-distancing ban between the two of you. 6 feet and everything. I'll throw in permanent masks if I ever catch you two kissing. Three, . . . no promises."
"In response- One, . . . no promises. Two, you don't want spider grandbabies crawling up the walls? All I'm hearing is that we can't get caught. Three, I'll tell mom", you grinned pulling back, your gaze filled with amusement and the look of humoured adoration you often had reserved specifically for your dad as he let out a little whine in complaint at your threat of telling Pepper.
It would just be a little rough up. You know, the classic "hurt my daughter and you're dead" speech. And Peter was Spider-Man! He'd be fine . . . probably.

she's all i wanna be | lando norris
synopsis: in which you can't help how you feel
a/n: based on this request!
pairing: lando norris x insecure!reader
my masterlist

The faint sound of music played through the speakers of the swanky Monaco lounge, but it was muffled under the chatter of the crowd.
You sat at a high-top table, your fingers nervously tracing the rim of your glass.
Lando was late - again.
It wasn’t anything unusual; his schedule was always chaotic, packed with team obligations, sim training and even more media appearances.
But tonight, everything felt heavier.
Like an unspoken weight hung between the two of you.
The door opened, and your gaze automatically shifted. There he was, stepping in with his usual boyish charm, a grin on his face as he greeted someone at the entrance.
Your heart skipped a beat, as it always did whenever you saw him, but the grin faltered as your eyes caught sight of her.
Tall, blonde, and effortlessly radiant, she walked in beside him, laughing at something he had said.
And then, your mind started going into overdrive. She was everything you weren’t. Perfectly polished, wearing an outfit that clung to her like it had been made for her and her alone.
You looked down at your simple dress, suddenly feeling underdressed and feeling like a shadow in her presence.
Lando’s eyes scanned the room until they found yours, his smile widening at the sight of you.
He made his way over to you, but then she followed him, and the knot in your stomach tightened even more.
“Hey, love” he greeted you, leaning down to kiss your lips quickly.
His warmth was comforting, but the scent of her expensive perfume lingered in the air, blinding you and your happiness to see your boyfriend.
“Hi” you replied, forcing a smile as your eyes flickered to her.
“Oh, right. This is Isabelle. She’s new to our PR team” he said, seemingly oblivious to your very obvious unease in her presence.
“Hi” Isabelle said, her voice smooth and confident.
She extended a perfectly manicured hand, which you shook, instantly feeling the unspoken comparison between the two of you, at least in your head.
“Nice to meet you” you managed, though your words felt very hollow on your lips.
The evening dragged on, but Isabelle didn’t leave.
She stayed, chatting animatedly with your boyfriend, laughing loudly at his jokes, and leaning in just a little too close for your comfort.
You tried to join the conversation from time to time, but it felt like you were an outsider in your own relationship in those moments.
Every time Isabelle laughed, a little louder or a little brighter than the previous time, it chipped away at your confidence.
By the time the night had finally ended, Lando drove the two of you home, the car filled with a very tense silence.
“You’ve been quiet tonight” Lando said, glancing at you.
You shrugged, looking out the window and avoiding his gaze as best as you could.
“Just tired” you said, your voice small and distant.
“Are you sure? You seemed a little… off” he pressed.
“Surprised you had time to notice all of that” you blurted out before you could stop yourself, mentally kicking yourself.
Lando turned his head around as he stopped at a red light, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“What?” he asked, his tone a little defensive, but still calm.
“It’s hard to feel ‘fine’ when Isabelle’s around” you said, looking down at your hands in your lap.
Lando frowned, confusion etching even deeper on his face.
“What’s that supposed to mean, love?” he asked, his eyes falling once again on the road in front of you.
“It means she’s everything I’m not, Lando. Gorgeous, confident, basically perfect from every aspect. It’s hard not to feel like I’m competing with her, even if I know I’m not supposed to be” you explained further on.
Lando sighed, pulling the car to a stop outside of your apartment, turning around to face you.
“Y/N, where is this coming from? You know you don’t have to compete with anyone. You’re everything to me” he said.
You shook your head, your bottom lip trembling as you tried not to burst out crying on the spot.
“Am I, though? Because tonight it felt like I was just there while you and Isabelle were having the time of your lives, just the two of you. You basically ignored me the entire night, Lando” you said, even your voice trembling.
Lando sighed, running a hand through his curls.
“I’m sorry if it came across that way. But you have to know that she’s just a colleague, nothing more. She doesn’t mean anything to me” he explained.
“It’s not about what she means to you, Lando. It’s about how I feel when I’m around her, like I’ll never measure up” you said, your voice cracking mid sentence.
Lando reached for your hand, his touch warm and reassuring.
“You’re more than enough for me, Y/N. Isabelle could never be you. No one could, ever. I’m sorry if I made you feel otherwise, I’m an idiot for that”
You looked at him, seeing that his eyes were filled with nothing but sincerity.
It was really hard to stay mad at Lando, especially when he looked at you with those puppy eyes of his.
But the insecurity still lingered in your chest, like a shadow that won’t be so easily dispelled.
“Just, please don’t forget me, okay?” you whispered, your tone vulnerable.
“I couldn’t even if I tried, love” he said softly, leaning in to press a soft and loving kiss to your forehead.
As you stepped out of the car and walked into your apartment, you knew the conversation was far from being over.
But for now, it was enough to know that Lando saw you. truly saw you, even in those moments when you could hardly see yourself.
At least he did.

First Time
Jessie Fleming x Reader
Summary: You and Jessie meet at UCLA and have been together a couple of months, but still haven't been intimate. In fact, she's never been intimate with anyone. But when your roommate is out one night, she might finally experience her first time.
Warnings: G!P content. Dry humping Simulated intercourse. Premature ejaculation. Cunnilingus. Penetrative sex. Loss of virginity. Unprotected sex. Praise kink. Language.
A/N: In response to this request. Virgin Jessie - shy, nervous, but just oh so eager to please. Happy holidays!

Jessie gave your hand a small squeeze as you walked across campus together. A bashful smile crossed her face at the way you turned your head towards her with a hint of surprise before giving her a warm smile and laugh. You giggled softly as you leaned in for a quick peck on her cheek mid-step.
"You are too cute," you told her as you faced forward once more.
"I just had a good night with you," she said as she reflected on the sunset picnic you'd had together at a nearby park. She released a quiet sigh as you approached the juncture in the path that signaled the end of your evening together; her dorm one direction, yours the other.
You stood together, your arms now resting across the back of her shoulders in a comfortable embrace. Jessie felt her face growing hot before she'd even begun speaking.
"Uh, my roommate's home tonight. Love her, but, it kinda sucks. Don't get me wrong, I love our dates," she gestured between herself and you as her eyes were affixed to the cement below, "and exploring the city together, but it would be kind of nice sometimes to have our own space? You know?" She shook her head quickly with a nervous chuckle as she looked back up at you. "I'm probably not making any sense."
You leaned in a gave her a sweet, chaste kiss, calming her nerves immediately.
"Good news. My roommate is at a party tonight. She probably won't be home until late," you told her.
Jessie's face lit up before she quickly quelled her excitement. She automatically assumed that meant she'd come over, but she shouldn't assume.
You laughed, giving her another quick kiss.
"Want to come over?"
Or maybe she could assume.
"Yeah. Sure. That'd be great," Jessie replied, trying not to sound too eager.
Though you'd been together a couple of months now, between the nature of her schedule and the realities of your living situations, there really was very little time where it was you two alone and in private. A night like this was rare.
In your dorm, you sat down on your bed and patted the spot next to you, inviting Jessie to sit down instead of standing awkwardly several feet away like she was.
"What do you want to do?" You asked as you leaned back on your hands and looking far too tempting. Jessie sat stiffly rubbing her already-sweaty palms against her jeans. She cleared her throat, glancing at you over her shoulder before looking away despite her efforts.
"Um, anything," she said before forcing a smile and looking at you once more.
"You're my guest," you countered with a smirk as you sat back up and nudged her with your shoulder, "it's up to you."
Jessie laughed, feeling the tension of the moment - whether it was solely in her head or not - settling all throughout her body as she nudged your leg with hers. "No, it's not up to me."
"Mm, I think it is," you said easily as you shifted slightly towards her, your knee coming up onto the bed as you tucked your foot under you. You held her gaze and it felt so intense to her in the best way possible.
"I want to do whatever you want to do," she offered with a shrug, turning slightly towards you on the bed now as well.
You held her gaze a moment longer before finally exhaling with a soft huff and looking away, an affectionate smile lingered on your face.
"Well, we don't get much time alone, so...," you trailed off as you slowly leaned in, capturing Jessie's lips. She smiled into the kiss.
The kisses started of very chaste, but things shifted just so as Jessie allowed her hands to ever so slightly wander; a hand gently cupping the side of your neck, her thumb softly caressing your jawline and her other hand toying with the hem of your shirt. You reciprocated, a thumb caressing her collarbone and your other hand on her knee.
Your tongue began to explore her lips and mouth and Jessie remained steady. Even if things didn't progress much, she could feel herself starting to get hard within her jeans. If you noticed, you didn't let on.
Jessie wanted to explore so much more, but you didn't make a move, so she didn't either. It was only a matter of time until you pulled back with a soft smile and rest your head on her shoulder.
She sat tensely, very keenly aware that although jeans gave some concealment, you could probably still very much see the bulge in her pants.
"Want to watch a movie?" You asked, getting up off of the bed without waiting for an answer.
"Y-yeah," Jessie stammered, still trying to be present in the moment and will her erection away. She looked around quickly and saw a throw pillow at the edge of your bed and laid it across her lap.
You returned with your laptop and coaxed her to the wall so you could both lean back and watch the movie. She couldn't help but notice how you very politely didn't acknowledge the pillow across her lap.
She sat there awkwardly at first as the movie started, but soon put her arm around you and you cuddled in. You both initiated light caresses throughout and it did nothing to help her with her arousal. It was nearly painful now and she honestly had no clue what was going on in the film. All she could think about was every touch, every movement, and her mind was creating an entirely different movie inside of her head.
Outside of Jessie being on the receiving end of a few fleeting, but heated kisses throughout your relationship, things hadn't gotten much more serious physically. What happened tonight is about as far as you ever got.
Jessie didn't know what to expect, really. She'd never dated before. She was never around in high school, so building that kind of a connection would've been difficult to begin with. And God knows she was even shyer back then, so between how young she always looked compared to the other girls and how she fell apart around anyone she had a crush on, it was no surprise that she was never seen as more than a friend.
Now, in uni, she was still shy - there was no denying that - but between her growing role on the national team, her role here on the Bruins and just exploring this new phase of her life, her confidence had grown. So though her nerves were rattling as she talked to you the first few times in class, she got through. She made you smile, made you laugh, impressed you with her smarts, and was over the moon when you gave her your number.
As you planned out your first date, she sheepishly admitted she wasn't entirely sure what to plan - she'd never been on a real date before.
It was embarrassing to her, frankly. Being in her second year - no serious romantic experiences to speak of, no girlfriends, and certainly no sex. All of her friends had lost their virginity and were, how should she put it, very confident and experienced in that department by now. And one would think she would be too given her athletic status, but that just wasn't her.
You'd been a little shocked initially. Bashful now in your own right over your own experience and history. Jessie profusely interjected - telling you there was nothing for you to be embarrassed about or feel ashamed about. You're beautiful, you're charming, you're smart - of course you'd have past relationships and experience. She joked she'd just need you to be patient with her.
"We'll take it slow," you'd promised with a sweet and caring kiss.
But now, two months in. Jessie regretted her joke. You'd really taken it to heart and now she felt like it was entirely upon her to push things forward. She didn't know where you stood - if you wanted more already or not and she didn't know how to proceed. She'd dropped hints - like tonight - and you didn't reciprocate the way she wanted.
So she worried. And fretted. And ultimately never pushed further.
Time went by achingly slow as the movie continued. Jessie couldn't help but shift uncomfortably in place as her member throbbed with want. You weren't even really doing anything - nothing explicit, certainly, but she wanted you so bad even a feathery touch sent goosebumps flaring across her skin.
"You okay?" You asked.
"Yeah," she assured you with a tight smile.
"You can move if you aren't comfortable," you told her.
"Oh, no," she dismissed with a rapid shake of her head and another reassuring smile. "It's not that. I mean - I'm not uncomfortable. I-I like being with you."
You chuckled, a faint smirk on your face as you kissed her cheek sweetly. "I like being with you, too."
As the movie continued and you drew faint, teasing circles on her collarbone and the odd fleeting breath hit the sensitive skin of her neck, she clutched the pillow in her fists and clenched her jaw, nearly grinding her teeth together.
"Are you sure you're okay?" You asked.
Jessie found herself letting out a slow exhale, keeping her eyes fixed on the screen.
"Yep, I'm good," she said almost curtly though flashed you a quick smile after. You frowned.
"You don't seem comfortable. I can give you some space if that's it," you said.
Jessie couldn't help the bewildered, frustrated laugh that escaped her as she looked up at the ceiling.
"No - that's, that's really not it," she said, feeling now like she could explode out of her own skin with the tension that had mounted in her body. She scratched at the side of her head as she struggled to figure out what to do.
"I, um," she stammered. She shifted, feeling compelled to stand up and get away, but quickly realized she couldn't - not without the tent in her pants being fully on display once more.
"Babe, what's wrong?" You asked, now looking genuinely concerned.
Jessie buried her face in her hands with a shake of her head. She dropped them heavily onto the pillow and let her head fall back against the wall with a dull thud.
"I'm just...yes. A bit uncomfortable," she eventually admitted, feeling immense heat radiating off her face. She could only imagine how red she must be.
"Um, well, is there anything I can do?" You asked tentatively.
She laughed. "No. I um," her mind attempted to conjure up the best response but she landed with another, "no." She caught the perplexed frown you shot her.
"Well, you seem unsettled. If I'm making you uncomfortable I'm really sorry," you told her as you sat back a bit.
She sighed before letting her head roll to the side to give you a frown of her own while she did her damnedest to push down the embarrassment that flooded her system. "Come on, you know."
"I-what?" You asked with a deeper frown.
Jessie sighed once more and ran a hand roughly across the back of her neck as her gaze settled on the blankets of your bed.
"It's nothing bad," she eventually settled on saying, mustering a look to you before flitting away again. "Least I don't think so."
"Okay. Now I'm really confused," you said. You took a small breath. "I wish you'd tell me."
Her face felt hot as ever as she laughed lightly and looked up to the ceiling once more.
"I just find you very, very attractive. So. I'm struggling a bit right now."
"Oh." You said simply. She studied you, but your expression was unreadable.
"I'm sorry," Jessie breathed, shifting slightly as she scratched at her temple. "That's so awkward. And we said we'd go slow. And I don't want to pressure you-"
"Pressure me?" You asked, voice rising in confusion and swiftly ending Jessie's ramblings.
"Well, yeah," she stammered slightly while offering you a faint smile. "I know I asked you to be patient with me. But that also means I don't want to push you at all. I mean, just because I'm-I'm...," she inadvertently looked down at the pillow in her lap, "whatever, doesn't mean we have to-"
"You aren't pushing me at all," you told her calmly. A hint of a smirk played at the corner of your mouth. "I'm...waiting on you." You held your hand up quickly. "No rush! I'm happy to take our time. But. Whenever you're ready. I'm ready."
She shot you a somewhat bewildered look. "Seriously?" She blushed as you couldn't hold back a laugh. She frowned. "I just meant you haven't initiated anything!"
"Why would I?" You returned, folding your arms across your chest playfully. "I know it would be your first time, so I thought we were letting you set the pace."
She blew a raspberry, blushing at the action before shooting you another tempered glare. "Well I could've used some encouragement! I just thought you weren't interested in more yet. You didn't reciprocate any-" she gestured aimlessly for a second, "you know."
"I reciprocated," you said pointedly, though still smirking at her. "Whatever you did, I reciprocated. But I didn't push further. It's important to me that you be entirely comfortable. I didn't want you to feel like we had to do more until you were ready. Hence, letting you set the pace."
A groan escaped her throat and she let her head fall back against the wall with another thud. She closed her eyes in frustration and mild regret for a moment before opening them and looking at you with a sheepish smile.
"Well. I'm..."
"...what?"
She gave an exaggerated shrug and a fleeting glance. "Ready."
You nearly snorted. "That didn't exactly sound enthusiastic." You laughed once more. "I'm looking for enthusiastic consent."
"Oh my God," Jessie complained as she dropped her hands into the pillow heavily once more. "You're going to kill my 'enthusiasm' with criticisms like that."
You gasped dramatically and Jessie's gaze snapped over to you.
"Just what every girl wants to hear," you teased.
"No, wait, I'm sorry," she offered as she adjusted her spot on the bed, facing you more fully, still keeping the pillow firmly in place. You seemed to be joking, but she felt compelled to reassure you either way. "I was just kidding. You never have to worry about that. I, uh," she glanced away playing with the seam of the pillow distractedly, "often, you know, struggle to," she cleared her throat, "contain myself around you." She felt heat rising in her cheeks once more and she went on in a rush. "I don't mean that disrespectfully at all. I meant it as a compliment. But now I'm hearing it and-"
"Babe," you cut her off as you reached up to hold her face in your hands. She stopped as your eyes searched hers. "it's okay. I understand. I was just teasing you. And I don't feel at all like you're disrespecting me. In fact," you gave a slight tilt of your head, "you can consider me flattered."
Jessie digested your words and eventually gave a couple of slow nods.
"So," you started. You lowered your hands, one landing to rest on her lower thigh. "[y/roommate] is out. She won't be back for hours - if at all tonight, to be honest. Do you want to...?"
Jessie swallowed. After so many years and countless dreams, it seemed the moment might actually be here.
"I-If you want to."
You gave her a look and a single shake of your head. "Do you want to. It's not enough if I just want to."
She nodded, maintaining your gaze. "I do." She chuckled, unable to stop herself. "Most definitely."
You gave her a soft smile. "Okay." You leaned in and kissed her slow, similar to how you'd done several times before, but this time it felt different. Jessie barely stopped the moan that nearly bubbled up her throat.
"You don't need this, then," you said gently as you picked up the pillow by its corner and pulled it away from her. Habit almost made her grab it and hold it back, but instead she let you move it away.
This time, unlike any other time before, you didn't politely avert your gaze from her bulge; you stared unabashedly. She couldn't help but shift slightly under your gaze and she cleared her throat.
"Don't worry," you told her, "I like what I see already." Surprise washed over her as suddenly you lifted yourself up and swung a leg across her to straddled her thighs. "I can't wait to see more."
Jessie just stared up at you speechless, though thankfully her body at least know how to react and her hands came to rest on your hips.
"Is this okay?" You asked. It took her a second, her throat dry, before she nodded.
"Yeah." A crooked smile tugged at her lips. "I love it."
You captured her lips in a heated kiss, this time your hips slowly started to grind upon her. Her breath shuddered and her eyes flew open at the sensations that shot through her.
Holy shit.
She stared up at the ceiling, a slight panic coming over her at the realization that there was a very real chance of her blowing her load before you'd even taken her pants off. If you were deterred by how she paused, you didn't show it, instead you tilted your head and began to start kissing down the side of her neck.
She remained still under your touch, her eyes falling shut now. A couple of small whimpers escaped despite every effort to suppress them.
"If you want me to stop, please tell me. We can stop at any time," you told her as you continued to kiss her neck and rock your hips against the hard bulge in her jeans. "I'm serious."
Jessie opened her mouth several times, but nothing came out. She merely nodded to start, eventually saying, "I-I don't want you to stop."
"Then I won't," you said simply, a lilt in your voice as your hands began to wander down her chest.
"Oh God," she said, again, cursing the inability to control her reactions. Her hips began to now push back into yours and her hands pushed under your shirt, a small moan nearly escaping at the feel of your warm skin under her touch.
You moaned against her neck and her fingers instinctively dug into your skin. The sound of your moan immediately burned itself into her brain and she decided right then and there that she wanted to hear that sound again and again.
Her mouth hung open as she breathed heavily while you continued to patiently explore.
"You feel so good already," you told her as you rocked against her restrained member.
"Oh God," she said once more and eyes slammed shut as she tightened her grip on you, pushing against you to the point of holding you in place.
You paused and she forced her eyes back open to see you looking down at her in concern.
"I, um, no, it's- I just." She took a moment to breath. "I'm seriously going to - you know. I just need a second. I'm so sorry."
To her surprise, a wicked grin crossed your face and you kissed her hard.
"You have no idea how hot that is," you told her unequivocally.
"Really?" She said with a near glare and blatant skepticism. "Because I'm pretty sure that's what girls make fun of most of the time."
"Not me," you responded, unbothered. "The thought of you cumming just from me being on top of you like this? Gorgeous. That is so sexy."
Jessie was ready to offer a rebuttal when you shifted off of her, giving her some greater reprieve.
"We can save that for another time though," you said benevolently. "For now..."
Jessie unknowingly took a deep breath as you started undoing her jeans. She felt like she was in a dream or a daze as you began removing her clothes and yours.
She originally thought she'd be too shy to look at you in your fully naked glory, but she surprised herself with how she couldn't take her eyes off of you instead. Her gaze raked up and down your body and she couldn't resist caressing your skin.
The moans of approval you gave her as her hands wandered or she kissed your skin had her in an altered state. This must be what it felt like to be high.
Soon you were back where you started, holding yourself above her, but this time her bare cock standing tall, precum dripping over the head and down the shaft oh so eager to be inside of you. Your warm hand gently wrapped around her to hold her in place. She felt breathless.
"Are you sure?" You asked as you held yourself poised above her.
Her eyes were fixed on her cock in your hand and how hot and incredible it felt to just have her tip nestled at your entrance. She forced herself to look up at you.
"I'm sure," she told you.
You smiled gently at her and leaned in, kissing her softly. She'd barely leaned up into the kiss when suddenly the heat from your core that rest on the head of her cock began to envelope her. She broke off the kiss immediately, eyes closed and jaw slack as your wetness stretched tightly around her tip and you slowly sank down onto her.
It sounded ridiculous, but she felt like she was seeing stars even eyes closed. Her jaw dropped further as your core fluttered warm and wet around her length and you settled on top of her.
Holy fuck. She'd masturbated countless times before. Hell, she even used the fleshlight - once - one of her teammates got her as a gag gift. But fuck. Nothing compared to this. No wonder people liked sex so much.
Just when she felt she'd steadied herself, you began to lift yourself up on her hardness once more until it was just the tip stretching out your entrance once more.
"Is this okay?" She heard you ask. She couldn't formulate words, she merely nodded and inadvertently began to push you back down onto her waiting cock.
You may have chuckled, she couldn't be sure, but soon you were establishing a rhythm, steadily rising and falling on her length. She could barely open her eyes. She heard you moaning softly as you began to ride her.
"You feel so good inside of me," you said as you began to rock yourself against her faster.
It felt incredible. Too incredible.
Her throat seized up as she felt the familiar tightening between her legs come on way too fast and by the time she'd even recognized the feeling she was gripping your thighs, fingers turning white, as she shot rope after rope of cum inside of you.
"Oh f-fuck," she stammered as she subconsciously jerked up into you as her orgasm continued. She felt mortified as she realized what was happening, but she couldn't stop and she could do nothing more than helplessly rut into you, muffled whimpers escaping her as she tried to quiet herself.
As her body slowly relaxed in the wake of her sudden orgasm, she vaguely began to notice how you tenderly massaged her scalp, stroking her hair. She blinked in a haze as you laid soft kisses atop her head. Despite your affection, her stomach sank.
"I'm so, so sorry," she began, voice pleading as she looked up at you. "I-I don't know-"
"Shh, it's okay," you assured her as you caressed her face and tilted her chin to kiss her softly. "I'm not bothered at all." Still, Jessie shook her head adamantly.
"I'm so embarrassed. Oh my God-"
"Hey," you said, cutting her off and looking her in the eye. "It's okay." She watched in confusion as the faintest smirk crossed your lips. "Like I said. It's pretty hot. I take it as a compliment. And besides," you went on lightly, brushing her hair back with your hands once more as you wiggled your hips atop of her and she held back a moan, "there's still plenty more night ahead of us."
Jessie quashed the rebuttal forming in her mind and instead simply looked at you and gave a slow, adoring shake of her head.
"You're the best. And I'm lucky to be with you," she said instead.
Before she could let her nerves get the best of her again, she gently nudged your hips with her thumbs, coaxing you to get off.
"I want to do something for you," she said and it only took a split second for you to smirk at her again. "What good manners," you said with waggle of your eyebrows as you rose off of her, obliging her request.
Her eyes fell to the sheets below as a pool of cum spilled out of you as down her softening cock and onto the bed. She stared wide-eyed for a moment at the mess you two had made, her cock pulsing at the sight as the visual tickled some part deep inside her brain.
She refocused as you settled onto your back, your head on the pillow.
"You don't have to do anything you don't want to, you know that right?" You said as you looked down at her. Frankly, she was too distracted by the sight of your wet pussy, cum still leaking out, and it took her a moment to register your statement.
She frowned. "I'm so into this. You have no idea," she breathed as she placed a hand on the inside of your knee, your legs automatically parting at the gesture. Her pulse quickened in anticipation.
"You're beautiful," she told you as she began to lay a few kisses along the inside of your thighs. Your scent overtook her senses and she felt herself growing hard again.
"Hand me that other pillow," you told her and she did so. She watched as you lifted your hips and settled it under them. "I find this helps," you explained. Jessie simply nodded, taking a mental note.
She began kissing her way up your thighs, her arms hooked under your legs and fingers gently digging into the top of them. Her nose was nearly touching your lips when she paused briefly.
"Um, I won't be offended if you tell me I'm doing something wrong," she said. "Or if you tell me I'm doing something right. I want to make sure you feel as amazing as possible. I've read a lot, but still, you never know. And-"
She looked up your body at you to see you smiling - maybe even cheekily - down at her.
"What?" She asked slowly, feeling a blush coming on.
"Nothing bad," you promised. "That's the perfect approach. And you're observant. And a good listener. So I'm sure you'll do great. My only tip is - when I tell you 'don't stop' - I mean it. Keep doing what you're doing - don't switch it up or speed up. Just do exactly what you're doing."
Jessie nodded intently. "Okay. I will."
Settling back in, Jessie began kissing along the juncture between your thighs and your core. Again, your smell was intoxicating and her cock throbbed, wanting to feel you wrap tightly around her once more. But first, she wanted to focus on you.
She laid a tentative kiss on your lips. A second time, gently suckling your folds, the taste of your cum and hers hitting her tongue for the first time. She peeked her tongue out and gave a faint lick through your folds. Her ears perked up as your hips shifted before her.
She gave another curious lick, this time at your entrance, surprised at the sensation of your juices on her tongue. She continued to patiently explore, trying to capture every subtle change in your breathing, any slight movement of your body.
"Mm, right there, baby," you moaned in approval as she settled her mouth around your clit. She sucked and licked delicately for several moments, again noting every reaction you had.
"Like you really mean it," you instructed as you rolled your hips into her face. Whether it was your words or the action, it triggered something in her mind and she dove in. You let out a low moan, your hand raking through her hair as you tilted your head back into the pillow.
That was the affirmation she needed. She abandoned her inhibitions. She gripped your thighs, pulling you closer to her on the bed and loving the small cry you let out as she fully latched on and lapped you up. She moaned into you and felt a wave go through her at how you moaned in returned, your hand still gripping her hair.
"Holy shit, Jess. Yes - like that," you told her and any need she had to come up for air dissipated in favour of wanting more and more praise from you.
Your hips began to buck into her mouth, but she stayed with you and didn't let up. Her senses buzzed as your legs grew restless and she felt you digging them into the mattress.
She continued her eager exploration, seeing what seemed to get the most reaction out of you and in time as she sucked on your clit and flicked the tip of her tongue against it you let out a particularly wanton moan and held her head firmly in place.
"Yes - oh my God. Right there, don't stop," you panted.
She resisted the urge to quicken her pace and instead did exactly as you instructed. You noises ceased for a moment and she was about to wonder if she'd done something wrong when a crescendo of a cry came from your mouth and your thighs locked around her head. You began to spasm against her and she felt a rush of liquid run down her chin.
She continued to suck and lick despite the way your hips jerked and eventually your body grew limp. She remained attentive, not wanting to stop too early until she felt you gently push her head away with a breathy laugh.
"Okay, okay," you laughed. "Give me a second."
"Oh," she said as she lifted her head, looking at you curiously before laughing softly herself. "Sorry. I didn't know if you wanted me to stop."
"No, no," you dismissed as you pulled her up onto you, wrapping your arms around her as you let out a content sigh. "You did amazingly."
"You're sure?" She asked as she lifted her head to look you in the eye, only to see you laying there, head tucked into her shoulder eyes closed. "You can be honest. I want it to be good for you."
You chuckled against her, giving her a squeeze. "That was really good. Like...hard to believe it's your first time kind of good."
Jessie felt a few embers of pride flare up within her chest and she bit back a satisfied smile.
"Okay. If you say so. But, if you want something different at any point just say." She began to blush, but forced herself to say what was on her mind anyway. She said it jokingly, despite how true it was. "I want to make sure you're fully satisfied."
"Mm," you voiced as you kissed her shoulder. "If that's just a preview of what's to come, you have nothing to be worried about."
Again, that prideful feeling stirred in her chest, but this time it was shrouded in apprehension. There were still other aspects of this she had yet to impress you with.
"Speaking of," you said, a lilt in your voice as you leaned up and began to lay teasing kisses on her neck that sent goosebumps across her skin. Her jaw dropped as your warm hand wrapped around her stiff member. "Seems like you're ready for round two."
She allowed herself a short laugh. "Well, you were really fucking hot, so..."
"Well, you felt - and tasted - how hot you got me just then, so, I guess we're even," you said with a smile in your voice as your hand began to slowly stroke up and down her length.
Even this felt so good, though. In the recesses of her mind she was already trying to formulate ways for you two to get more alone time together - she wouldn't be able to wait weeks and weeks again for this.
As good as it felt, she felt more in control this time around. Having cum earlier seemed to have take the edge off - slightly anyhow.
She grit her teeth together as you continued to patiently jerk her off. She subtly rocked her hips into your hand and you moaned softly in approval in her ear.
"So, ready for round two?" You asked. Her breath hitched slightly as she pushed into your waiting fist.
"Whenever you are," she responded. "Seriously. We don't have to rush," she went on, mindful of your request to give you a short break. She chuckled. "We've waited this long."
"Was the wait worth it?" You asked as your thumb circled her tip and your tongue teased the shell of her ear. She shivered, fingers digging into your hips.
"Fuck," she breathed as her eyes closed. "Way more incredible than anything I could've pictured. You're so perfect."
"We haven't even got to the good stuff yet," you teased, nibbling at her ear as you hooked one leg around the back of hers, running it up and down her leg.
It felt like energy was pulsing through her body and she had to smile in disbelief at it all. "You're incredible. I love you so much."
"I love you too, baby," you said as you tilted your head to kiss her softly at first before deepening the kiss and eliciting a moan out of her as your rocked your hips against her, her length flat against her stomach and yours now.
"Now," you went on, whispering in her ear once more. "I want you inside of me." Jessie's breath hitched yet again.
Despite feeling more confident and at ease, the nerves she felt before started to come back.
“Do you want to be on top again?" She asked as her hands caressed your curves, appreciating your body as she awaited your response. She felt you shake your head against her.
“I want you on top. I can still call the shots while on my back," you said flirtatiously as you traced a single finger down her spine. She let out a breathy laugh, flustered by your reply.
"You're really sexy," she said in wonderment. "Did I tell you that already?"
"Not exactly," you said with a soft laugh as you grasped her hips and shifted both of you so she was poised at your entrance once more. You leaned up and kissed her. "I'll tell you what I like, but if you're feeling overwhelmed you can slow down or stop. Don't worry, okay? It's supposed to be fun. And it's about us connecting and being together."
Jessie nodded. "I know. And I hear you. But I also just want you to feel as good as you make me feel."
"Mm, you want me coming undone on your cock, do you?" You asked as you held her chin between your thumb and index finger.
"Shit," Jessie said as her eyes fluttered shut at your words alone. She smirked. "Come on, babe. You gotta give me a chance here."
It seemed to be the right thing to say because you beamed up at her and caressed her face.
"If I know you the way I think I know you, it won't be long until you know all the right things to do and say to have me falling apart at your every whim. So, I'm going to enjoy this while I can."
Jessie grinned above you. "While that sounds pretty fucking amazing, I really just love the idea of being the one to make you feel incredible. I hope I can do that for you."
"You're off to a good start already," you chuckled as you reached down to hold her cock steady at your entrance. You gave her a light tug and she allowed you to guide her forward, her tip nudging your entrance open. She couldn't help but let her head fall against your shoulder at how good it felt already.
Your other hand came to her ass and gently pushed her hips down, she moved with your pressure and she felt your heat envelope her as she slowly sunk inside.
"Fuck," she breathed at the sensation. Her fists clenched into the mattress next to you and it almost made her toes curl.
You chuckled good-naturedly as you ran a hand through her hair. "Feel good, baby?" Her head lolled against yours.
"Mm. You feel so fucking amazing. Holy shit," she said as your legs wrapped around her waist and she sunk even deeper into you. "Oh Jesus."
You moaned lightly arm wrapping around her shoulder while the other remained teasing her hair. "It feels good for me too. You're filling me up so full."
Her fingers curled tighter into a fist, the sound of the sheets straining in her grasp below her. "Christ," she said. She hadn't even completed a full stroke and she was nearly on the cusp again.
She didn't think she'd be into dirty talk, but from the way her cock twitched inside you at the mere words you whispered to her, she had to admit she learned something new about herself.
She felt short of breath, but you didn't rush her and she took a moment to reset before she felt composed enough to draw her hips back. She was slow and deliberate in the motion, admittedly not knowing exactly how much she could pull back so she pushed inside sooner rather than later.
She did this, slow and steady, a few times over, one hand of yours on her ass and the other now on her hip to guide her. The amount of concentration it took actually turned out to be a blessing because the edge that had seemed far too near a minute ago didn't feel so imminent now.
"Just like that," you said in her ear as she began to find her rhythm with less and less of your guidance.
She felt her confidence building just for it to be shaken as she drew back too far and felt herself pop out of you.
"Oh fuck," she said, feeling her face heat up in embarrassment right away. You massaged the back of her neck tenderly and reached down to grasp her cock which was now fully slick with your cum again.
"It's okay," you assured her as you lined her up at your entrance again.
Jessie quickly worked to dismiss her nerves; not wanting to get rattled by such a thing and just allowed herself to feel safe with you instead. She slowly pushed back inside of you, reassured by how you moaned softly in her ear as she filled you up once more.
Soon she re-established the earlier rhythm, this time knowing how far she could draw back before sinking back to the hilt inside of you.
"Is this okay?" She asked, voice shuddering ever so slightly with the movement of her thrusts. You nodded against her.
"It feels good," you told her and laid a hand on her ass again, pushing her hips a particular way. "Try rolling your hips like this." She didn't question it, just followed your lead and soon your head fell back against the pillow, mouth agape. "Oh fuck. Just like that."
She grinned, spurred on by your praise. It felt like bliss the way you began to cling to her and pant in her ear.
She was doing that. She was the one making you lose your breath, making you pant and moan, causing you to dig your fingers into her skin as your pleasure built. It was greater than anything she ever dreamed of and she wanted more.
She began to quicken the pace of her hips and by the way your moans heightened in pitch, you approved. She wrapped her arms under your back and held you close as she continued to rock on top of you.
"Shit, that's so good, Jess," you moaned as you clung onto her, nails digging into the back of her shoulders. She couldn't help but smile smugly though you couldn't see it.
"Yeah?"
The sounds of her thrusts in and out of you were wet and growing wetter. Her climax was close, but she was absolutely focused and determined to make you cum before her. She flexed her muscles pumping into you harder.
"Oh God," you said. "Fuck. I'm going to cum - don't stop, Jess."
Again, she followed your advice and remained as steady as she could, careful not to cum though knowing she was about to make you orgasm just about sent her over the edge.
Sweat beaded on her forehead and she bit her lower lip as she concentrated on staving off her climax. The way you whimpered in her ear and how your walls fluttered wet and hot all around her was driving her wild. She couldn't help the way the odd whimper or moan escaped her throat as well as she did her best to bring you to your high.
Finally, she felt you tighten around her in a way she hadn't experienced before. Her strokes stuttered as you began to convulse around her cock and she exploded inside of you for the second time tonight. She grunted, wincing at the overwhelming sensation as she emptied herself deep inside of you as you held her tightly.
"Oh shit," she breathed as she collapsed on top of you. Her body felt spent and exhausted in a way she'd never felt before. It was strange, but incredible.
"Oh my God," you panted beneath her as your grip on her grew slack and your limbs relaxed.
The room was filled with heavy breathing as you both came back to your senses and Jessie was the first to speak next. She lifted herself up onto her forearms to see you, though her softening cock remained inside of you.
"Was...that okay?" She asked, newly tentative, brows furrowing in worry. To her surprise, you laughed, kissing her shoulder in consolation.
"I'm sorry. Me moaning your name, whining and panting underneath you and cumming all over your cock isn't answer enough?"
Jessie blushed, ducking her head slightly. "Well I don't know," she muttered.
"It was way more than 'okay', Jess. You're a natural," you chuckled. Again, she blushed deeper.
"Well, I don't know to feel about that," she complained slightly. "I don't want to be a 'natural' - I just...I don't know. Want to make you feel good."
"You did. Absolutely. You fit perfectly with me. You listened. You knew exactly what I wanted and needed." You sighed contentedly, head falling into the pillow further. "Fuck. That was so good."
"You'd tell me if you didn't like something, right?" She asked.
You huffed lightly, but gave her an affectionate look nonetheless.
"I know there is a mess beneath us on these sheets. And it's mostly me. That you can't fake. I promise you."
The image in Jessie's mind made her cock pulse and she began to grow hard inside of you once more. She kissed you, pulling back with a crooked grin.
"Any interest in round three?"

bakugou x f!reader. part 1 of a mini series called by heart. cw: mentions of alcohol, implied sexual content, weddings. | word count: 1.7k, reading time: ~10 minutes
For Katsuki Bakugou, the act of participating as a groomsman is as much fulfilling his duty as donning his suit and gauntlets to patrol the streets of Musutafu is. It’s natural and reflexive, he can handle the stress with little effort. Always responsible and on time, he has been asked several times despite his attitude because of his impeccable ability to keep things moving if they’re breaking down.
That being said, his designation as Best Man instead of a simple groomsman as a member of the Midoriya grooms party has been a different animal entirely.
The changes in his nice and comfy usual role started with requesting he arrive a day earlier than the other guests or party members, throwing off his schedule even if he knew about it ahead of time. Everything in his life is scheduled, planned, and measured including how many days he needs to request off to meet his own internal rules. Ideally this is no days off yet somehow this task has required an extra day compared to what he usually days.
Then he was told about the other duties - welcoming the families of Mr. and soon to be Mrs. Midoriya alike as they arrive at the hotel, ring keeping, disciplining, and the thing he’s looking forward to the least.
“Walking the maid of honor during the procession. And also if you’re feeling really generous and want to make sure your good friend has a great wedding, keeping her in line.”
Deku didn't have to say your name for him to know you were the one to whom he was referring.
“Is it really her?” Bakugou asked, unable to temper his annoyance though his lifelong friend would’ve picked up on it regardless.
“Who else would it be? They’re best friends, it would be like me being told that you couldn’t be my best man.”
This makes six out of six weddings the two of you have been paired up. Iida, Kirishima, Ashido, Todoroki, Yaoyorozu, and now Midoriya. It’s not a coincidence the two of you received your respective promotions for this event given your relationships to the bride and groom it just feels strange.
It’s not that he hates you or even dislikes you, it’s that things are just…kind of complicated. Nothing he feels for you is anything close to hatred. It’s what confuses him so badly about it because he should. You’re loud and messy and incredibly nosy and demand everyone’s attention when you walk into the room and your laugh is contagious and really you’re just an absolute pain in his ass he was hoping to be free of for one measly matrimonial weekend.
Since that day he’s been dreading what’s next to come despite how happy he is that his best friend has finally convinced the brilliant, compassionate stunner who puts up with him to do it forever. It felt and continues to feel like a huge dick move for him to say anything about so he’s kept his mouth shut.
Time passed in a flash and now that the day has finally come, arriving at the hotel hours later than originally anticipated hasn’t helped with the nerves that he swears he isn’t feeling.
Thankfully no additional issues popped up while getting off of the plane. Traffic on the way here was light. The cab driver had no desire to make small talk with him. Check-in was already completed before the glass doors could automatically part and welcome him into a gleaming lobby and onto a clean elevator that rides alone and that drops him directly on the 33rd floor.
It’s here that he breathes a sigh of relief. Nothing is unsalvageable today even if it got off to a rocky start. Things are going to be alright.
At least until he hears that sound.
Your laugh.
It permeates every single corner of the long marble hallway separating hotel suites and smaller single rooms alike. It echoes and bounces and shifts the world on its axis every time he hears it. Katsuki swallows through the tilt, clenching his fist around the carrying handle of the rolling suitcase it holds. His feet hurry toward room 3304. You offer a little goodbye to whoever you were talking to, footsteps thumping against the carpeted floor below them as you continue toward what assumes is his end of the hallway.
“God damn it,” he mutters under his breath, reaching into his pocket to dig for the keycard he was handed at the front as soon as he arrives at his destination. Perhaps if he’s really lucky he can make it inside before you catch sight of him, before you say his name and demand his time and fuck his night up before it even begins.
This evening’s plans are as follows: taking a long and thorough shower after spending nearly half a day on an airplane, nap for no longer than 30 minutes to recharge in preparation for the first celebratory dinner of what will be multiple over the next four days, and return to his hotel room before midnight and very much alone ready to sleep until his alarm goes off tomorrow morning so he can go for a run with Izuku before everyone communes again for brunch.
The less deviation there is from this plan, the better it is for everyone involved. It seems like everyone involved with this wedding and the others that have come before it has managed to finally accept this aspect of Bakugou’s personality besides you. His digging search becomes frantic the closer he hears your footsteps come and just when he thinks he can make it without being seen, you wordlessly slide up to Room 3302. Right next to him.
“Hiya neighbor.”
Actually, nothing from this day is worth saving. If the flight delay didn’t do him in, sharing a wall with you certainly will before the weekend is over.
“Uh hey,” he mutters back stiffly.
It’s still a strange comfort that while all of his and your friends get married off and start their families and build their lives that it will always be you and him starring as the lone wolves who are bound to be paired up in every wedding party for all eternity. While he’s never really been sure if it’s simply because you’re both single or if there is other meddling it’s something he has come to expect all the same. Even if the two of you have a pair of axes to grind.
Sighing, he slips his card into the lock and the light turns green. Turning to look at you he finds you already doing the same with a smile he should probably feel more irritation toward seeing on your face. Garnet colored eyes slip from your smile down to your hand and where it inserts the key into the door, repeating the steps he just completed. No ring, no indication that you have anyone waiting for you back at home.
The knowledge that you are likely still potentially single brings a sense of peace to the man, a feeling one could even call relief if they were feeling brave enough to confront their emotions to begin with.
“Don’t make me regret sharing this wall with you,” he finally says after an extremely loaded period of silence.
You giggle, mirthful and light and he wishes the ground would stop shifting, his hand now clutching the doorknob tightly while the edge of the keycard digs into his palm.
“What makes you say that?” A pout crosses your clever mouth, side leaning against the door to your room. “Do you regret other things you’ve shared with me?”
This is exactly why he was hoping not to see you. Dropping the knob, his hand finds its way to his face and he scrubs his palm down the length of it with a groan.
The souring that led to whatever rotten interaction is happening in this hallway right now began over Yaoyorozu’s wedding weekend last summer.
That sounds very dramatic. However, in both you and Katsuki’s defense, this situation is pretty dramatic. Two attractive, single people and endlessly flowing alcohol sharing a kiss that turned into more kissing which turned into carpet burns on your knees that you couldn’t get rid of for a month after the event occurred wouldn’t usually create this much issue especially after taking into consideration that you are both fully grown adults well into your lives.
The drama arrives at the party when you are reminded that you’ve known in your heart for as long as you’ve known him, Katsuki Bakugou isn’t a man who merely hooks up. He treats people more carefully than that, even delicate in the way he’s responded to your own shameless attempts to get him to flirt with you over the course of six wedding parties in as many years.
You certainly thought he wasn’t this type until he not only hooked up with you, he left before what happened the evening prior could even be discussed. You woke up to a dry mouth, pounding head, and empty bed with no trace of blonde hair or scarred torso left behind. It’s the sole reason why you’re gripping the handle of your own suitcase so tightly your knuckles are turning white, practically burning holes into him with your angry, weighty glance.
“Do you mind if we talk more later? I’m tired from the flight.”
He doesn’t meet your eyes when he asks. You roll yours and that laugh he’s so shaken by regularly becomes something a little jilted, harsh and nasally in its near snort-like form when you let it loose.
“Yeah, if you want. I mean you have had a whole year to clear the air so why not wait until two nights before we have no choice but to be amicable to do it?”
Ah yes. Now he meets your gaze, nodding silently. It’s not shocking that you’re upset, only that you’re still this upset.
“We’ll talk later.”
You don’t bother to argue knowing you’ll never win one against him. It also doesn’t help that he immediately flung the door to his room open and stomped inside, punctuating his sentence with a slamming door.
Rolling your eyes, you finish your safe entry into your own room and begin to dread what the future has in store for you.

Join a Country Club Mod
Hello! Unfortunately, Rock Ridge Country Club has closed down due to financial mismanagement and embezzlement. However, your sims now can join an even better club: Cedar Creek Country Club!
I’m excited to announce that I’ve completely reworked the Country Club mod from scratch. This mod holds a special place in my heart as it was the first one I ever made, and I’m thrilled to present it with improved quality and new features.
If you’ve used my previous Country Club mod, you’ll notice both differences and similarities. So, how does the new mod work? Your sim can apply to become a member of Cedar Creek Country Club. This time, the process is more challenging, with the possibility of rejection, requiring more effort both financially and mentally.
However, the application process is streamlined for a smoother experience. Steps to become a member:
Pay Application Fee: This is a 5000 simoleon nonrefundable fee.
Fill out Application Form
Schedule Interview: Choose between two time slots and attend within 24 hours.
Write Letter of Interest
Submit Reference Letters: Cedar Creek requires two reference letters from current members. Your sim can ask a member directly or post on the Cedar Creek community forums. If a member is interested, they may call and offer to write a reference letter. This method is more challenging.
Attend Information Session (Optional): If you have questions about the club or application process, attend an information session available on weekdays.
• Household Funds
• Fame Level
• Reputation
• Job Type and Level
• Charisma
• Interview Outcome
These elements can greatly increase your chances of getting accepted into the country club.
Once they become a member and pay the $10,000 initiation fee, your entire household will also gain Cedar Creek membership.
As a Cedar Creek member, there are ongoing fees to pay. You can choose to pay annually (over four weeks) or quarterly (over one week). It’s important to stay on top of these payments to maintain your membership. There are many activities your sim can partake in with family and friends. You can find these options on the computer in the Country Club pie menu.
Your sim can try to appeal to the country club if they have been rejected, kicked out, or blacklisted. The chances of getting another shot are very low, but high charisma can significantly help.
If they get lucky and are invited to meet with the admissions committee, they have a few hours to attend the meeting and must commit immediately. If they were previously kicked out, they will still need to pay the initiation fee again.
Lot Trait
I have also added a Country Club lot trait with the mod. So as a Cedar Creek member if you don't feel like going to rabbit hole activities you use the country club lot trait and use it on any lot.
I wanted the Country Club lot trait to be customizable, so random members won’t show up automatically; you need to assign members to make it exclusive.
You can assign members by left-shift clicking on the computer and finding the option under the country club pie menu. There are a few social interactions available for different sims at the country club, depending on their roles.
The lot trait is straightforward, but the key is to assign members. You can also remove members using the same method.
Does this mod require any DLC?
No, it does not.
What else do I need for the mod?
Lumpinou's Mood Pack Mod, so it is required for the mod to work properly.
You can get the mod here.
If you already have it great! But make sure it's up to date. Otherwise, it will break the UI
XML injector
I'm experiencing some weird bugs!
Let me know, please.
Report it here: Mod Bug Report
How to install the mod?
Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods <--- Unzip the file and make sure it's placed in this path.

sunshine girl
danielle marsh x fem!reader ; fluff
synopsis: you are not a morning person and danielle is an everything person—after working with her you start to like mornings a little more, or maybe just her.
warnings: grumpy x sunshine kinda?? ; reader is hyein's cousin ; soobin from txt and rest of nwjns mentioned ; pining and slowburn, like.. slooowburn ; sooo much fluff like soooooo much… ; loool anything else i didn't mention? ; barely proofread
a/n: fell in love w dani, caved, wrote... dreamy sigh... dani…

there is no universe or alternate reality with a twisted, psycho version of that you enjoys mornings.
there is no way that you’d deliberately get out of bed just to hear the birds chirping and get up to open the curtains or whatever it is that morning people do to enjoy the grueling hours of 7 - 11am.
do people actually do this? get up at 7am willingly without benefitting from it? the only reason you’re up is because you need that paycheck to keep you going. the image of the little envelope with your name on it and what you’ve earned renders you awake, at least awake enough to get yourself in the shower, dressed up, and ready to go for opening – you’ve never opened, and even worse, you’ve never met any of the staff that opened either. they can’t be worse than the closers, can they?
as you look in the mirror of your car, it’s palpable that the morning air hates you. your eyes are a little puffy, slight eyebags are visible, and your blinking is slower. you’ve got to get through this, it’s the only way to fit work into your schedule since your classes are all later in the day.
when you arrive, there’s already someone in your unassigned but basically assigned parking spot – you frown as you back up into a different place.
after you shift your car to park and check the time, realizing you only have five minutes left before you need to clock in for a six-hour shift, you close your eyes and let your body go limp against the seat.
–
danielle’s head perks up when she hears the door opening. she halts her wiping of the coffee maker, then turns to see an unfamiliar face – a grin automatically finds its way to her lips.
“hi! you must be y/n?” it’s eight in the morning, you’re barely functioning, and you’re already hit with an overly enthusiastic, excited ray of sunshine; you can’t take the energy, not at this hour.
“yeah.” you respond bluntly, danielle isn’t really phased with the lack of energy that’s being thrown back. “you are?”
she answers with hands clasped together, “danielle! but my friends call me dani.”
you’re not calling her dani, you aren’t her friend, and she’s just your coworker.
you walk behind the counter and put your bag inside the cabinet, then grab your apron and put it on. when you turn to the side, you’re met with a shorter woman, her curious eyes, the beauty marks on her face, and a big smile. she puts her hand out and you shake it hesitantly.
“it’s nice to meet you y/n! have you ever worked mornings?”
“no,” you mumble, unlinking your hands. “only closing shifts.”
“ahh, must be different? i’ll get you situated. i’m excited to work with you!” she says, then walks past you towards the door to the kitchen. she pauses before explaining, “the employees in the back take care of all the pastries other than the croissants and cookies, so we make them over here. i’m going to grab the premade dough and whatnot, you stay here– oh! and could you wipe down the machine? and then just run water for the espresso machine to get the pucks ready.”
you nod at her and she smiles again. you rub your eyes as she leaves your sight, fighting the urge to take a power nap on the counter.
–
the whole morning you’re in charge of drinks right until it hits two in the afternoon. luckily, you’re more fond of being stuck in your corner where the espresso machine is rather than taking orders and socializing with the customers – you wouldn’t be able to greet them as enthusiastically as danielle does with each and every one of them.
you don’t know how she does it.
there's another guy—soobin—who comes in an hour after you. he's a little older, quieter, but all smiles and talkative when it comes to danielle. even as you make drinks and keep to yourself, you can tell danielle's energy is contagious. hearing her and soobin chat freely as they restock pastries and bread makes you wonder if your mornings can be as bearable. if they can do it, maybe you can too.
soobin leaves an hour later than you and danielle, waving to both of you as you two walk out the bakery.
you fish for your keys and start to walk towards your car, but then your head turns when you hear your name called out. turning around, you spot danielle waving to you, which urges you to stop in your place.
“hey y/n, i just wanted to say that it was nice working with you! i’m looking forward to more shifts with you, have a great rest of your day alright?”
paused in place, you struggle to form words, but you manage to respond a little bluntly, “thanks, i’ll see you tomorrow.”
“bye the way!” she plays with her fingers, “you’re super pretty.”
caught by surprise, you pause for a moment, clutching the strap of your bag a little tighter as your ears start to warm.
“thank you.”
danielle grins again, and oddly enough, you really like how warm and smiley she is. she's like a beam of sunlight turned into a person. she waves once more before walking in the opposite direction, leaving you replaying the whole interaction in your head the rest of the way to your car.
a small smile finds its way to your lips as you sit in your seat, strangely enough.
–
minji is scribbling in her sketchbook when her roommate walks in, looking a little more giddy than usual.
“dani, hey.” minji greets her, smiling when she does. “how was work?”
“great!” danielle beams, right before plopping down next to her roommate on the couch. “there’s a new member – well, she’s not new, but she just switched to working mornings. today was her first shift with soobin and i, and she’s really good at making the drinks, better than when yeosang was on drink duty.”
“that’s great to hear dani.” minji responds, watching her roommate relax against the cushion. “new coworker seems nice.”
“yeah but,” danielle frowns a little, “she’s not that talkative. she has a tough shell, i really want to know her! she’s really pretty too, like gorgeous, stunning– wow.”
minji quirks a brow. “gorgeous?”
“yes! like, wow, i was taken aback. she looked tired too, but i’ve been tired and i’ve never looked that effortlessly wonderful. i mean, she was making drinks most of the time so she never faced me much. even then, the side of her face is nice and she’s just great to look at.”
danielles roommate narrows her eyes at her. “right.”
–
the next morning you’re downing two shots of espresso like it’s vodka. danielle watches the whole thing with concern etched into her brow.
“are you okay y/n?” danielle questions, “espresso is strong, how do you do it?”
you nod at her and mumble, “it’s fine.” before you continue to clean the counter, not turning to face her. she frowns at you; danielle will get through that shell.
soobin is in half an hour later, grinning at danielle as he puts his apron on and saying “hi” to you as well. you respond with a forced smile before plopping the last batch of cookies in the small oven on the counter.
as soon as soobin is done taking the first few customers, leaving you to finish their drinks, danielle pulls him by the sleeve away from you.
“dani? what is it–”
“let’s go bag the pastries, come.”
“um, okay?” he walks over towards the shelves with her, putting on some gloves before asking, “why are you being so strange?”
“i want to get closer with y/n.” she says with a pout.
“is that all?” soobin questions her–and this strange behavior. “i think she’s just timid.”
“you were timid too, but it took two hours into the shift for us to start talking about hedgehogs.”
“well, i like hedgehogs. you have to find out something you two like.”
danielle sighs defeatedly. “she barely responds to me unless it’s work-related!”
“you’ve got to give her time, people are different. she’s probably not a morning person? and maybe she sees this as just her job, maybe she doesn’t want to interact with others.”
danielle watches you from where her and soobin are after hearing you call out the name of the order. you hand it over to the elderly woman, who thanks you warmly and it earns a small, genuine smile from you. danielle finds your smile lovely, especially the small dimples on your cheeks that form.
“you’re going to help me out, okay? we have to warm up to her.”
soobin sighs before bagging a cream bun. “okay.”
–
it’s painfully slow for a few minutes, so you walk out from behind the counter to fix up the pastries that the various customers have disordered.
danielle follows and you jump when you turn to see her beaming at you. “hi!”
“danielle,” you tighten your jaw. “hi.”
“it’s slow on wednesday mornings, most people are already at work.”
“i figured.” you reply as you close the packaging for the rice doughnut.
“so, how are you this morning?”
“i’m fine, um, how are you?”
danielle smiles; the conversation is flowing in the tiniest bit, but still, it’s something. “just tired, i had a lot of work to do because one of my professors loves to assign things last minute, i stayed up quite late. are you in college too? i kind of guessed that we’re around the same age.”
“i just started my second year.” you answer.
she jumps a tiny bit to show the excitement over a commonality, you think it’s adorable.
“really? me too! what are you studying?”
“english and creative writing–” you cut yourself off when you catch a mother and her daughter in the corner of your eye, shutting down the conversation immediately when they start to walk towards the register.
you throw a small smile at them and greet them warmly before tak ingtheir orders. danielle huffs, but she’s shining again once she’s realized that your shell has chipped just barely.
–
you don’t work fridays or the weekend, danielle has already been aware of that after checking the schedule. it would be weird in the eyes of, well, many people, but she checks everyones schedule just in case any mishaps occur, danielle is considerate beyond measure.
she’s attentive and notices many things – she’s like that with everyone, but you? you’re different.
sure, she’s attentive to the way soobin stumbles over the small bump under the door to the kitchen each time he has to grab something from the back, how he jumps each time the phone rings, and how often he bags the pastries backwards. with you, however, she notices a lot, she learns.
two weeks after you two start working together, danielle has managed to learn three things about you.
one: you laugh whenever soobin slips up – or really any little mishap that happens with him (which occurs often) – but you always try to conceal your amusement. two: as soon as noon hits, you’re much more awake, which is when danielle sparks more conversation with you. and three: you both go to the same university, and you don’t know this, but she figured that out before you even told her after catching you in the dining hall from afar.
it’s not easy to miss something – or someone – that stands out so boldly, especially if it’s your charming visuals.
her job used to be something that she’d get done and enjoy while it lasted, but now that you’re thrown into the mix, a new challenge and person is clouding her mind throughout her days. she’s so tuned in to everything about you, for some strange reason. and one afternoon, the rare moment she loses focus – attention slipping away in the heat of a rush – danielle bumps into you, spilling a small cup of hot coffee all over your hand.
you gasp loudly, clutching your hand and biting down on your teeth as tears start to form. “fuck–”
“y/n!” danielle almost yelps, earning the attention from the customers in the shop. “oh my gosh–” she places the cup on the counter before grabbing your wrist and running it under cold water. somehow, her holding your wrist seems to burn more. “i’m so so sorry, y/n are you okay? i’m so–”
you shake your head and push her hand away from your wrist, wiping away the small tear in the corner of your eye. “it’s fine, it was an accident. you should go help soobin out, there’s a long line.”
she can’t tell if you’re mad at her, it breaks her heart. the tone of your voice is always so hard to decipher, and as much as she wants to stay there and help you out – probably with another string of apologies – you have a point, she should do her job, but you’re burnt. danielle is much more worried about you rather than making money in the moment.
but still, your look and tone sends danielle back to the register, and before she tends to the customer, she looks back at you, pouting a little.
–
as soon as you reach the door to the drivers side of your car, you feel a tap on your shoulder.
turning around, you’re met with danielle.
“did you need something?” you ask her, tilting your head.
“no, i just wanted to apologize for burning your hand, i’m so sorry.”
you shake your head. “it’s alright, it was a mistake.”
“yes, but still, can i make it up to you with coffee or pastries?”
“danielle,” you catch yourself and danielle by surprise when a small giggle slips out. you clear your throat before continuing, “we work at a bakery, i can always treat myself to both of those without charge.”
“well, i really want to make it up to you.”
“you’re really sweet, but it’s alright.” you catch your coworker off guard with the sudden compliment, there’s a small flush that spreads across her cheeks. “besides, my hand feels better.” you show her your hand, putting it out in front of her, it’s still red and swollen. “it’ll heal more. i’ll see you tomorrow, alright? get home safe danielle.”
danielle can’t really respond to you after that, you’re already waving to her once more before heading to your car. she watches you glance down at your hand, gently holding it as you do so. the guilt in her starts to grow even more.
–
hanni watches danielle storm into the house, rub her face with both hands, and plop onto the couch like she’s just gotten rejected by someone as if she were in some type of romance drama.
“dani? what is up with you–”
“i’m a terrible person! my coworker probably hates me– i’ve been trying to warm up to her these past two weeks and then i go and burn her!”
hanni’s eyes widen, her brows raise, and her jaw drops. “you burned your coworker?”
with tired eyes and a bedhead, minji appears from the hall in an oversized t-shirt and sweatpants. she groans as she runs a hand through her hair, squinting her eyes. “what’s with all the noise? i’m trying to nap…”
“dani burned her coworker.”
minji’s a little more awake now, tilting her head. “the really pretty one?”
“yes!” danielle groans into the cushion, the bottom of her palms covering her eyes as she lies there defeatedly. when she takes her hands off her face, she opens her eyes to see minji and hanni hovering over as they stand, awaiting an explanation. “i’m a terrible person.”
hanni moves danielles legs over so that she can sit on the couch, putting her legs on her lap as the younger woman loses it. minji sits on the opposite end, putting her legs over on hanni’s lap as well and resting her head against a pillow.
“okay well why are you a terrible person?”
“i spilled hot coffee all over my coworker’s hand! gosh, i tried to apologize and everything, i even offered to compensate for the damage and she declined! y/n has to hate me…”
hanni looks over at minji to pout, then looks back at danielle. “hey, it was a mistake. what did she say?”
“well, she was really normal about it as if i didn’t just burn her hand, she brushed it off like it was nothing. i offered to have coffee with her or share some pastries but then she giggled and was all like ‘you’re really sweet but it’s okay’ and i don’t know, what if burning her hand makes her talk to me less and she hates me forever and–”
“dani.” minji butts in, making the younger one quiet down. “you made her laugh and she said you’re really sweet.”
“and?”
“and?” minji groans, sitting up on her elbows now. “dani, she said you’re really sweet. why wouldn’t she want to talk to you?”
“because i burned her? or maybe i’m annoying and talk too much but i really can’t help it-”
hanni puts a finger to danielles lips, dramatically shushing her. minji laughs at the action before hanni butts in, “dani, first of all; you’re not annoying. second; you’re literally the greatest person ever and i love you and if you ever stopped talking so much i’d have to i don’t know, die?”
minji snorts. “the hell?”
“what i’m saying is no one could ever hate you and honestly if she does; she’s not worth your time. plus, you shouldn’t waste your energy on someone who doesn’t appreciate you. you’re wonderful bro.” danielle’s eyes soften as she looks at hanni, and minji’s bottom lip protrudes from how sweet her words are. hanni sits danielle upright and puts both hands on her shoulders. “how about this: minji and i go visit you at work tomorrow and we’ll be the judge of your coworker.”
“you’d do that for me?”
hanni nods. “yes, but also please hook us up with some free pastries and drinks because i have to do a wrap around on this whole lecture so let's see it as an exchange, but also i love you dani and don’t want you losing your mind over this woman.”
“and i’ll be the judge of whether or not your coworker is as gorgeous as you think.” minji adds teasingly.
danielle smiles from ear to ear, making a small little noise as she pounces on hanni and hugs her like she’s her savior. minji laughs at the sight, smiling as well.
–
you park near your cousin’s highschool, you always pick her up after opening shifts since the time aligns perfectly. you send a text to your cousin to let her know you’re there and your burnt hand sits on the wheel, so you take a few moments to examine it as you wait for a response..
minutes pass before your cousin arrives, knocking on the window and grinning at you, breaking you out of your small daydream.
“hi y/n, sorry i came so late, my teacher was being an ass.”
“language hyein.” you scoff, knowing damn well you curse like it’s your second language. hyein gets into the passengers seat and steals your phone, putting on a song as you start to drive again. “anyway, how was school?”
“oh god, it was so draining today. i swear my physics teacher wants me dead.”
“this is why you don’t take physics as a sophomore.”
“well someone won’t help me.” hyein rolls her eyes playfully, making you giggle. “anyway, school was just school. how was work?”
“it was alright, i kinda– well, my coworker spilled coffee on me. burned my hand a little but it’s not too bad.”
“the tall one? soobin? or was it the pretty one, your little work crush?” she raises her brows knowingly, smirking.
hyein is one of very few people who you let loose around. despite your age gap, she’s your cousin, and your favorite one too. ever since you moved to live with her and her parents for school, you’ve gotten closer, spending hours rambling and practically getting glued to by the hip. she knew everything about you and what you felt.
she knew how you felt about your morning shifts; you coming home with a smile on your face after work was different. you dreaded work and the people you worked with for closing, all some stupid braindead men that you had to order around half the time. danielle and soobin were far from that. the duo eased your worries and actually did their job relatively well, you were able to do what you loved – stay stuck in the corner making all of the drinks – without worrying about the bakery. it was a breeze, you loved teh switch to mornings other than waking up at a time that has you quiet, moody, and only functioning after at least two shots of espresso.
hyein also knew about the interest you had in your new coworker danielle. you’ve never rambled about someone this much, calling her sweet, lovely, nice – not to mention the whole tangent regarding her eyes and pretty smile. hyein watched you chastise yourself for being so distant and avoidant because of your moods in the morning, comforting you for not being able to form decent bonds and friendships because of how early you had to get up.
you grip the wheel a little tighter. “danielle, it was an accident though.”
hyein eyes you. “so the pretty one.”
“her name is danielle.”
“point proven! you don’t just recognize your coworkers by how attractive they are you know…” hyein teases, “sometimes you talk about her and i wonder if my older cousin can finally be a normal person that’s capable of having a crush on someone.”
you keep your eyes on the road, but use your right hand to push her head playfully and ruffle her hair, earning a whine.
“just because i think someone is pretty does not mean i like them. you’re so young, you don’t know shit about crushes and romance.”
“stop cursing.” hyein warns. the light turns red and you step on the break, then turn to look at her with raised brows. hyein laughs and cocks her head, giving you stupid puppy eyes. “i know when someone likes someone, or at least when they start to. you think she’s pretty but in a way that sounds like you’re an admirer.”
“what?”
“you tell me you can’t talk to her and look at her sometimes? y/n im sixteen, but im also not new to having crushes, ive been there. you like her.”
“do you want to walk home?”
hyein pouts, crossing her arms and making you laugh in the process. “youre no fun.”
“whatever.” you mumble.
when the two of you get home, hyein steals your keys to open the door to the house. she gets in first, obviously eager to do whatever it is that she’s up to after school — probably calling her friends or laying in bed.
you walk over to the kitchen and run your burnt hand under cold water, clenching your teeth slightly when you feel the stinging.
in the drawer near you, there’s the first aid kit, over the counter tablets, and other health related items. you rummage through to find the burn relief cream, leaning against the countertop as you twist the cap open. you squeeze out a line of the cream that extends down to the base of your pointer finger, then you begin to rub your reddened skin.
your thoughts drift to the moment of when you burned yourself—well, when danielle burned you. she had this look in her eyes, so pure and so regretful that it made you feel bad.
she was so sweet with the offer, she’s ways so lovely. she’s honestly adorable. the way the words rushed out of her, the small pout on her lips and the fact that she offered to make it up to you. every nerve in your body wanted to accept the offer, but danielle shouldn’t have to pay or spend time on something to make things up to someone like you. it was a mistake after all.
then your thoughts drift elsewhere, from the whole burnt-hand incident and then to the person who burned you–to danielle. she’s bubbly in the mornings and although you used to hate that, her smile and greetings started to wake you up a little more. the crinkle of her brow every time she catches you downing shots of espresso always makes you suppress a laugh, the expression is so adorable and she’s just so—
“stupid hyein,” you sigh to yourself.
youve been absentmindedly rubbing the burn-relief cream in the same spot for almost a minute, all because of your coworker taking over your thoughts. you begin to rub the rest of your hand and add another dot of cream to the lower area of your hand.
hyein’s called you out multiple times for having an alleged crush on your coworker, but you’ve always dismissed it. however, the words she’s said to you before ring in your head in the moment. you crease your brows and purse your lips subconsciously.
“maybe you can’t talk to her because you’re attracted to her and not because it’s 8 in the morning.” hyein shrugs, looking at you as you sit lazily on the couch. she’s lecturing you after another ramble about your day, the mere mention of danielle prompting her to quote on quote ‘educate you’ on what love is. “you talked to your friends perfectly during morning classes from what you’ve told me, maybe you’re just all shy and blushy and—“
you smack the palm of your hand on your forehead to stop yourself from thinking of that memory of you and your cousin.
“i don’t have a crush on danielle… what is she thinking?” you mumble to yourself. you halt your actions after the realization that you’ve just talked to yourself hits. you press a hand to your cheeks, feeling a weird warmth from your skin, making you shake your head and groan. “i can talk to her fine… just fine.”
—
“morning!” danielle beams as she catches you walking in. you manage to shoot a small smile, danielle likes that you’ve been giving her more of those.
you put your bag in the cabinet, then put on your apron. without turning to face her, you start to speak, “danielle?”
she almost jumps, not expecting you to even interact with her. maybe you needed help with something? or a question regarding the new breakfast pastries.
“y/n, did you need something?”
you shake your head. “no, i just, um— how are you this morning?”
danielle pauses, you turn to meet her eyes and blink as you wait for an answer. your coworker short circuits momentarily before stumbling over her words as she responds, “oh, i’m— i’m great! tired of course, you know with school and all. thank you for asking y/n.”
“did you get enough sleep?” danielle looks at you after you ask that, wondering where all of this friendliness is coming from. she’s not against it though, maybe you’re just awake this morning.
“i tried to get as much as i could.” she says, then smiles. “is your hand okay?”
“it’s fine. i put ointment on it and it’s like nothing happened.” you assure.
without any warning, you disappear into the back, probably looking for dough to bake. danielle is still stuck in her place, blinking a few times before she runs the espresso machine. she wonders for a moment, furrowing her brow at the rare interaction that you started. but then, she’s grinning to herself just thinking about it all.
danielle wonders: maybe you don’t hate her, maybe her roommates were right.
—
you hear a bundle of voices, three to be exact. when you look up from the steam wand, you’re met with three women that all look your age—they all probably go to your university, or maybe the other one that’s also close by.
one of them walks up to the register, soobin greets them, but their attention seems to be on you for a bit.
“hi, is danielle here?” one asks.
soobin nods, still looking at the screen of the register. “yeah, she’s in the back. did you need her?”
“we’re really close with her, could you grab her?”
soobin nods again, humming in response before he walks over to the door leading to the back.
you continue to make the cappuccino that an older lady ordered a few minutes ago, creating a small lavender looking design with the steamed milk and pushing it out on the counter.
“for park!” you call out, the lady comes up to the counter in seconds and smiles at you. she pats your shoulder and it makes your heart warm knowing she’s happy with it.
the three girls from before, they continue to eye you from the register until danielle is back, and when she returns, she starts squealing at the sight of them.
“you guys really came!” danielle beams, immediately reaching over to hug them as best as she can with the counter in the way. “what pastries did you all want? oh! i can also grab you drinks.”
the one with bangs nods, then orders for all of them. “mmm i’ll have an iced vanilla latte, minji wants a hot tea and haerin just wants a cookie and iced tea. you know she’s out early today? oh my god, as soon as we heard we scooped her up immediately-“
the rest of their conversation doesn’t process in your head as you start with the drinks. you had just put the puck in the machine, twisted it in place and started to pull the espresso before you feel a tap on your shoulder.
danielle meets your eyes and you feel yourself soften up a bit.
she tugs on the cloth covering your shoulder just a bit before she speaks. “hey.”
“hi?”
“can i introduce you to my roommates and our friend? you wouldn’t mind? would you?”
“oh, no— but i’m kind of… making one of their drinks right now.”
“oh, sorry— wait what? i was going to make them—“
“well since they’re you’re friends i think they’d appreciate their drinks out earlier. and it’s okay, don’t be sorry danielle. i’ll do whatever if it’s not busy and when i’m done.” you swear you see a little more pink on her cheeks than usual, stronger than the blush she wears—you could be wrong.
“right, yeah, do your job!”
you stifle a giggle and purse your lips to conceal your smile, ultimately failing. danielle’s tone and mood are contagious sometimes.
(all the time.)
when you’re finished with the drinks — danielle had lingered nearby here and there as you made them — you placed them on the little counter for danielle to pick up. she had smiled at you, mouthed a “thank you,” and rushed over to sit down with her friends.
it wasn’t busy at all, the only other customers in the bakery had been a corporate man that soobin was tending to. the man bought a loaf of milk bread and ordered a brewed coffee, soobin could handle all of that. he will handle all of that.
danielle sits with her friends at the table, giggling as she does so and looking as happy as ever. there’s a weird flutter in your stomach, like someone poking you there from the inside and it’s not that it hurts, it’s just odd.
pretending to busy yourself is something you’re really good at doing, and plus, it’s a great way to excuse your glances toward danielle as she talks to her friends. she’s really smiley and giddy, it’s the cutest thing ever.
a few minutes pass and you’re still bagging some items, daydreaming as you do so.
(danielle seemed to pop up here and there, strangely enough.
here and there turned into her being the star of the dreams.)
you’re in your own world until a faint “hey y/n!” is muttered into your ear, making you jump and almost elbow your pretty coworker.
“did i startle you? i’m so sorry—“ danielle starts, but you’re quick to cut her off as soon as she begins to apologize.
“no, no. sorry i was in my own world.”
“i get that.” she chuckles, “hey, most of the things are bagged–i was wondering if you’d like to meet my friends? soobin is cashiering and he should be fine since it’s not too busy so…?”
you take a quick glance and look over at her friends who are looking at the two of you eagerly. the one with bangs has this smirk on her face, making you hesitate.
“please? i don’t know why but–” danielle lies, she knows why. “um, they want to meet you.”
“me?”
“yes!”
you pause and honestly think of declining until danielle shoots her bottom lip out a bit. in no time you’re biting the inside of your cheek before responding with a nod, and you’re so grateful because she’s grabbing your hand—two fingers of yours—and leading you over to the small table near the windows.
danielle is gripping your pointer and middle finger lightly, but it feels like she has a hold on you as a whole. your body is all warm and fuzzy and your mind is hazy and her skin is really soft and nice and—
“this is y/n!” she introduces, letting go of your fingers. “y/n, these are my roommates hanni minji, and this is haerin.”
“nice to meet you all.” you greet softly with a small smile. they all stare and you feel yourself shrinking under all the pairs of eyes. you poke the inside of your cheek with your tongue before clearing your throat. “are the drinks alright?”
minji scans your face, eyes tracing each and every feature before her gaze softens. she nods at you and responds, “they’re great, wonderful.”
you nod at her and grin again, looking down at the table to avoid any eye contact.
hanni chuckles. “yeah this latte is actually amazing, danielle’s made me lattes before but they’ve never been this good.”
“y/n is really good at making the drinks, practically keeping the bakery in business. i bet our boss is happy with you in the mornings.” danielle completely ignores hanni’s teasing and adds to the praise, making you wave your hand and shake your head.
“ah, no, no. i mean i can only make drinks but danielle is really good at every aspect of her job, she’s wonderful with customers.”
“oh stop–”
“no, you are.” you look up to make eye contact with her, then look over to soobin, who’s brewing another batch of coffee. “soobin is great, but he’s really clumsy sometimes and it’s kind of funny catching him stumbling over words. you’re a natural.”
“you’re so sweet.” danielle mutters in awe before lips turn up even more, her cheeks flush slightly and her friends all look at each other with smirks on their faces.
“i um, i try–”
you hear the door opening and two pairs of very familiar voices make you turn immediately. turning around, you see your cousin and her best friend in a group with three others you just barely recognize. danielle spots this as well, she starts to stand before you pause her in the act.
“danielle, i got it.”
“it’s a big group y/n.” she continues to stand up, but when you place your hand on her arm lightly it’s like you’ve frozen her in place. minji and hanni immediately give each other knowing looks, and haerin observes the whole ordeal intensely.
“it’s my cousin and her friends, you should stay and hangout with your friends. besides, you haven’t had a break today, relax.” your hand slides down to her forearm without any thought. despite the small action, danielle is flustered by it.
“you sure?”
“positive,” you affirm, then look at all her friends. “it was nice meeting you all.”
the group watches you walk over behind the counter, and as soon as you’re at a distance where they can talk without you hearing anything, danielle’s friends – minji and hanni for the most part – go ham on her.
“oh yeah she’s gorgeous.” minji chimes in, shrugging it off like you’re not the prettiest person danielle has seen. “you were right.”
just gorgeous?
“yeah she’s really pretty dani. and also, she doesn’t hate you, there’s no way.” hanni says as she munches on a croissant, earning a punch to the arm from minji. hanni whines, croissant still in her mouth, “hey! what was that for?”
“finish chewing before you talk! you’re so gross…”
“you didn’t have to hit me!” hanni groans, nudging minji with her shoulder.
haerin rolls her eyes at the two before taking a sip from her iced tea, watching danielle glance at you. haerin has known danielle for a while, the last time she had been like this was forever ago, this admiration can’t be something that’s purely platonic, not with those dilated pupils and puppy eyes.
and you, you’re no different either. haerin watches you glance over to make eye contact with danielle, eyes softening and your teeth showing as you smile at her the moment you meet each others features.
while minji and hanni continue to bicker, haerin continues observing. danielle is making it look like she’s invested in the bickering – which, she very much is; it’s always entertaining when the two argue over stupid things – but her mind is somewhere else.
“danielle,”
“haerin?” danielle turns her head and hums in response.
haerin blinks. “you like her.”
minji and hanni stop bickering, their presence enhancing the shiver down her spine.
“no, no. i just think she’s really interesting, i couldn’t possibly–”
haerin shakes her head, putting a hand up. “you look at her like she’s… like there’s a halo around her head.”
“i–” danielle turns to glance at you again. you’re laughing with one of the girls, she assumes it’s your cousin that you mentioned. you flick the younger girl’s forehead and she groans, which earns the most pure, natural laugh and smile she’s ever seen on your face. you’re cute, especially when all of your teeth are showing as you laugh. when you make eye contact with your coworker again through waterlined eyes, your lips purse into a closed smile.
danielle is blushing, her cheeks burn, and the vulnerability is displayed right in front of her friends. she tries to laugh it off, but hanni’s jaw drops and she throws a hand over her mouth.
“oh my god.”
minji starts to chuckle. “she has a point, danielle. whether you know it or not, it makes sense.”
“i barely know anything about her, you can’t be serious.” danielle rolls her eyes and pouts. “even if i did, it’d be impossible to even do anything remotely romantic. she’s like stone.
“she was literally everything but stone from what i saw earlier.” haerin comments. “danielle, it’s okay to have a crush on someone, you know?”
hanni hums in agreement. “yup, and you really need to stop that flirting you do with us every ten seconds because it’s grueling and if you’re going to flirt, flirt with someone you actually want because everytime you say anything remotely flirtatious ten years of my life get taken away.”
minji snorts and danielle can’t help but do so as well. “wooow, my flirting is very wonderful thank you.” she crosses her arms and looks over at you again. “and what if y/n doesn’t like my flirting?”
“nah,” hanni sips on her drink. “you called her a good barista or whatever and i saw her like, malfunction for two seconds. she was blushing a little.”
“well she wears blush so–”
“dani, can you–” hanni facepalms. “just, shhh. she doesn’t hate you and you know what, you can build off of that.”
haerin shrugs before taking a few more sips of her tea. “yeah, she’s pretty and smiles at you sweetly. it’s not impossible.”
danielle takes one more look at you, you’re still chatting with your cousin and her friend seems to be joined in the conversation as well. the rest of the group of teenagers have left, so the place is pretty empty. you smile here and there as you clean the counter and wipe the machine, occasionally looking at the two girls who converse with each other.
“okay dani, i love you but i also need to get this lecture noted and also oh my god i have a report due tomorrow and–”
hanni feels a finger to her lips, similar to how she shushed danielle the night before, but now it’s reversed. minji snorts and haerin laughs before danielle assures, “go, go. i’ll see you later and bring extra snacks hanni.”
the group begins to clear the table, dismissing danielles efforts to leave it be so she can take care of it. they all bring their silverware and dishes to the little trays near the trash before walking over to the exit, each girl hugging danielle before they all leave the bakery.
when danielle turns around, she spots you still conversing with the girls, but tending to the daily housekeeping simultaneously. you look up and catch her in your eye again, displaying a small, toothy smirk at her.
danielle chuckles to herself, making you do the same even as she moves over to package pastries.
–
today is your offday, so you’d usually wake up two hours later than you usually do for work. but when your phone rings around the same time you’d arrive at work, you groggily reach over to squint your eyes at the screen, reading the contact name that is calling you at this time in the morning:
incoming call: danielle
“does she know im not working? shouldn’t she be off today too…” you mumble to yourself before picking up and putting your phone on speaker. “hello?”
“y/n, hi, did i wake you up? you sound tired, ah, i’m sorry.”
feeling bad, you lie to her. “no, i’ve been awake for a bit now. is everything alright?”
“i just wanted to ask, um, how far do you live from work?”
“less than ten minutes, why do you ask?”
“i’m sorry if this is a big favor but i’m supposed to cover for soobin today since he’s sick. i walked to work since i live a fifteen minute walk away, not too far, but i forgot the keys and it’s storming really badly…”
you’re a little more awake now after hearing the light rumble of thunder coming from outside, it urges you to rub your eyes. “danielle, are you safe from the storm right now?”
“i mean, i’m standing under the little roof thing near the entrance. water can’t get me from here.”
“jesus,” you mutter to yourself, then jump at the next sharp thundering sound that comes after. “i’ll be there soon, okay? i’ll pick you up and you can just give me the directions to your place. be careful, i’m on my way.”
“thank you so much, im sorry again–”
“no, no. it’s fine, i’ll be there, see you.”
before she can respond, you hang up on her, running to the bathroom to splash water on your face and fix your disheveled bedhead up. then, you run towards the entrance of your house and grab your keys that hang on the hook near the door, slide your slides on, and quickly run out.
it’s storming hard, and you’ve already gotten a clue on how bad since you had been pretty drenched from simply walking to your car.
you speed through the neighborhood and into the main road to get to the bakery faster. desperately looking through the windshield for your coworker, you spot her near the entrance just as she said, then drive up as close as you can.
rolling down your window, a bit of water gets on your face, hair, and the top of your shirt – but it doesn’t stop you from yelling, “get in!”
in a few seconds, danielle is in the passenger seat, her hair visibly damp but not too wet. she runs a hand through it, and it feels like your heart just skipped a beat. her hair is wavy now, more than usual, quite curly. was it always like this? her hair looks beautiful, framing her face perfectly, strands sticking to her skin from the raindrops—like elements of a painting coming together to create something breathtaking.
“sorry, i would’ve asked my roommates but they had some important stuff for their classes and whatnot so they left earlier this morning. i also didn’t want to wake minji up, i know her lectures are pretty bad.”
how thoughtful of her.
shaking your head, you respond, “it’s fine, i just don’t want you getting sick. i’m glad you called.”
“really?”
“u-uh, i mean, yeah. i’m still not the best at opening and you’re pretty much the best at everything so… soobin and i need you in the mornings. i know im off today but whoever is working this morning probably needs you.”
“aw, that’s so sweet of you.” danielle’s smile grows and grows as she notices everything about you in the moment: your hair is messy, you have some old, loose t-shirt on with some poorly scribbled figure of… you? then, a small giggle leaves her lips once she notices the dog prints on your pajama pants.
your blush grows deeper with each passing second. “i um, didn’t have time to change. do you want to type your address in my phone or…?”
“you look so cute y/n.” it slips out of danielles lips, but she’s able to play it off well with the little tilt of her head and a sly smirk. it works wonders on you. “i like your shirt and pants.”
you cough to ease your nerves, then shift the stick of your decade-old, hand-me-down five seat toyota to ‘drive.’
“my cousin made it for me when i was still in highschool a while ago. sorry, that’s not important.” you facepalm yourself mentally. danielle thinks this little story is very important, but you cut yourself off. “do you just want to tell me the directions?”
adorable, danielle almost says out loud.
“yeah, turn left at the stop.”
danielle spends the rest of the time staring out the car and gazing out to see the rain that pours down from above. you’re stiff in your seat the whole time, especially when she does that little thing where she glances at you with those pretty eyes occasionally. it’s a simple look and yet you’re flustered beyond words.
you reach an apartment complex and drive as close as you can to the entrance. she gets out and mutters a haste “i’ll be quick” before leaving you alone with a racing heart and flushed face.
when she returns, there’s an umbrella in her hands and the keys to the bakery. once she gets in, you start to drive back.
“danielle?”
“mhm?”
“is your hair naturally like that?” you ask.
“ah,” she moves a hand to her hair to run her fingers through, though not without a little struggle. “i straighten it usually, it’s easier to maintain. the rain must’ve made it a little curly again huh?”
“i think your hair is beautiful like that, really.” you admit, eyes stuck on the road. “you look good with any hairstyle.”
“why thank you! i could say that for you as well.”
you scoff playfully, shaking your head as you turn into the bakery parking lot. “right, like my half-awake head is even the tiniest bit alluring.”
she winks at you, leaning in just a bit closer. “i think it enhances the natural allure, no?”
words get stuck in your throat, danielle laughs, and then she waves at you as she gets out the car. the rain has stopped just in time for her to clock in and a little beam of light hits her in the best way possible. you can’t help but stare at her in awe.
“thank you for keeping me from getting drenched, you’re the sweetest.”
“yeah, i mean, you’re kind of the pillar. our boss isn’t ever here, you’re practically the boss no?”
“you’re too charming, i’ll see you in a few days?”
your mouth opens but nothing comes out for a moment, not until a bright idea pops up in your head.
“i can take you home after work, don’t want you walking in these conditions.”
“y/n,” she starts, looking confused. “it stopped raining.”
“it’s whatever, you know what– i can drive you to work in the mornings.”
“oh, you really don’t have to. isn’t the gas money quite–”
“no, no. i’ll give you a call or text next week, it’s nothing. see you danielle.”
–
little did you know, this would turn into a routine–the small gesture of picking up danielle instead of letting her walk in the mornings.
sure, she got a little less cardio, but she managed to crack that shell open just enough to glimpse what was inside. and everything hidden by your reserved demeanor was everything that made her heart flutter and more. each feature and curve of your face, beautifully highlighted by the soft glow of the café lamps captivated her beyond measure. but what she loved most was your personality—every word, every gesture. it captivated her in ways she hadn’t expected, and she found herself falling deeper with each passing moment.
you were caring, sweet, and had lots to share. there was never a dull moment with you the moment she figured out how to get you to talk a little more.
as for you, mornings weren't dreadful anymore. you started waking up earlier than usual just to make it to danielle's on time. you liked this new routine—seeing danielle first thing in the morning, sharing a coffee with her, chatting while the pastries baked. the smell of fresh coffee and baking bread filled the air, making the workspace warm and inviting. just being in her presence was the perfect start to your day. her laughter and smiles made everything brighter, transforming mundane, tiring mornings into something special.
and what kind of cousin would you be if you hadn’t told hyein everything like the two of you usually do. hyein is on the other side of the couch starting at you smile as you ramble about this routine you’ve fallen into with heart eyes and a wide grin.
“i mean, i haven’t ever liked mornings since her.” you begin, your fingers starting to fiddle with one another. “and oh my god she keeps flirting with me! it’s actually terrible. do you know how hard it is to stay normal when she’s calling me what, a fucking angel first thing in the morning? and it doesn’t help that she’s literally gorgeous, i mean you’ve seen her; she’s straight out of a dream.”
hyein groans as she sits up. “well if you’re so in love, quit complaining to me, you’ve been like this since the month started.”
you sit up as well, furrowing your brows. “what?”
“just ask her out already! it’s clear she’s into you.”
“i think she’s just flirty though.”
“old and stupid oh, you piss me off.” hyein throws a pillow at you, making you yell ‘hey!’ before throwing it back at her face. she laughs before clinging the pillow close. “but really, at least a ‘friend’ date or something… it would bring you two closer. those morning rides aren’t going to lead to anything more than what you already have, probably. plus, soobin and actually working gets in the way of your little lovey-dovey stuff.”
you look at her, biting your lip as you ponder.
hyein is right, hell, she always is. for a child, she’s pretty good with giving advice and an even better listener. she’s your best friend and favorite relative all in one, it would be somewhat betraying to not take the advice.
“well, what if she’s taken?”
“oh my god…” your cousin throws her head onto the cushion of the couch. “she calls you pretty and flirts with you – girl, of course she’s single.”
“okay but… i don’t know.”
“well i know that you’re stupid as hell.”
“language!”
“just check her instagram or something? people with significant others always post something.”
you fall silent, biting your lip again before looking at her with an apologetic feeling in your eye. “i don’t have anything but her number…”
“oh y/n, that’s not a problem at all.” hyein rolls her eyes and scoots up next to you, leaning against your shoulder as you peer over to watch what she’s doing. she holds the phone up to your face to unlock it and taps on the intagram icon, immediately clicking on the search bar. “do you know her last name?”
“um, it starts with an m i think?”
“you don’t know her last name?”
“why would i know this?”
“do you have an app for your schedules or anything? oh my god, you’re seriously getting on my nerves… i can’t believe you managed to even have a girlfriend for that one year–”
you cringe at the mention of your history with women. “okay don’t mention that please… and fuck her, she was terrible to me.” you frown.
“sorry,” hyein know’s she’s hit a little spot, knowing your past with much detail, then continues. “anyway, let’s just search her up and…” she types in ‘d-a-n-i-e-l-l-e’ into the search and a few accounts pop up. she looks at the small profile pictures displayed and the first one makes her click her tongue. “found it!”
her page is pretty just from the first glance–you two haven’t even looked at any of the posts or highlights either. danielle’s profile picture is jus ther with a beanie over her head and looking at the camera with her pretty eyes and god you almost melt right then and there because no model could top her visuals.
you reach over to scroll through her posts; she has thirteen in total, and a few catch your eye. one post, in particular, stands out: a single photo of her posing in front of a mirror, wearing a crop top that shows off her slim figure and a denim jacket hanging loosely off one shoulder. she looks absolutely stunning. as you stare at the image, lips slightly parted in awe, hyein looks over and sees your intense gaze. before you can react, you're interrupted by a playful pinch to your cheek.
“you’re so down bad.”
“i’m not!” you scoff, taking the phone out from her hands and scrolling yourself.
there are photos of her with friends, snapshots of mesmerizing views (though none as captivating as her), pictures with her family, beach scenes, dogs, and several selfies—you find yourself lingering on those a bit longer. her entire page perfectly matches her energy; it's cute and vibrant. as you scroll, hyein catches you smiling to yourself, lost in the charm of danielle’s online presence.
one of her more recent posts, posted about three months ago, catches your eye. it’s her and haerin posing together with haerin’s face being cupped by danielle’s hand as they pose. the caption has your heart sinking a bit (a lot).
“beautiful, gorgeous, and lovely birthday girl💋👩❤️💋👩 i love you lots sweetie”
hyein catches the whole thing live, watching your small smile turn into pursed lips. “that doesn’t mean anything y/n, friends can be like that.”
“they’re pretty close…” you swipe to see a picture of danielle’s nose nuzzled into haerin’s cheek and frown. “she’s taken.”
your heart sinks even more just looking at the picture longer, urging hyein to snatch your phone out of your hands and click on the mentioned tags. she finds haerin’s account – it’s public, thankfully – and roams around as you sit there defeatedly.
it’s not looking the best so far, not when hyein clicks on a post with danielle and her group of friends, and after hyein swipes to the next photo she’s met with danielle and haerin hugging each other, cheeks pressed together as they pose for the photo. you catch a glimpse before your head falls over on hyein’s shoulder like you’ve just come back from an unsuccessful war.
“it’s over.”
“y/n, lift your head up! i pose with my friends like this too… maybe she’s touchy.”
“not with me.” you pout. hyein flicks your forehead. “hey!”
“stupid,” she says. “maybe it’s because she likes you and is wary of boundaries. from what i’m seeing, you should initiate.”
“i can’t possibly do that.”
“you’re literally a liar.” she spits out. “as soon as your friends initiate something you’re clinging like a koala, even with me you’re like that.”
you fall over onto the couch, giving up and looking up at the ceiling; your life isn’t over because your really adorable, amazing, lively, vibrant, cute, helpful, captivating, adorable coworker is taken.
(it’s over.)
hyein allows you to sulk for a moment before widening her eyes and gasping, “wait, i literally know haerin.”
“you do?”
“kind of. i just checked her account on my phone and a lot of people i know follow her, she’s that pretty upperclassman everyone likes. there’s no way she’s dating danielle, like, i have proof.”
sitting up immediately, you crunch your brows. “are you serious?”
“yeah. my friend is friends with her, she’s very much single and i don’t think she wants to mingle.”
“holy shit, you’re serious?”
“language~” hyein teases. “yes, i’m not trying to feed your delusions by the way–i don’t support homewrecking.”
you practically pouce at hyein and tackle her into a loving, grateful hug. she squeaks at the contact, but warms up into the hug.
“i love you forever, i’ll buy you lunch and treat you to pastries and anything and–”
“it’s fiiinneee.” hyein pulls away and chuckles at you. “i just want to help you out and be happy. and after seeing danielle… she’s really adorable and you’re so giddy for her so she must be wonderful.”
“she is.”
“yeah, all you do is run your mouth about her.”
a laugh is shared between the two of you before hyein reaches for the remote to turn on the tv. you go back to your phone, clicking on danielle’s profile to stalk her again, lingering on posts of herself. you feel your cheeks burning and somehow the little glare your cousin gives you despite her not being in your vision or peripheral.

you’ve been reluctant on asking danielle out, even if it’s a simple ‘hangout’ or ‘friend date.’ she’s effortlessly charming as always with each interaction, even getting bold and watching you from over your shoulder at times – everything she does makes your heart beat and beat and beat.
danielle’s been equally flustered and enamored by how open you’ve been with her. the two of you have cracked jokes and shared small stories during the quiet moments with soobin, but danielle especially enjoys you just by yourself. there’s something much more tender about you when it’s just the two of you. you’re physically more touchy wth danielle, and she can’t really tell if it’s on purpose or you’re just touchy like that. you often shove her playfully in conversations, and when you both lean against the counter, you somehow manage to move over ever so slightly so that your arms are touching.
your coworker has been attentive to all of this, unsure of whether this is just how you are and she’s overthinking things, or this being something more–maybe a sign that maybe you’re into her just a bit.
none of you question it really, and besides, danielles just as touchy. she sometimes leans her head on your shoulder – but very, very briefly – when something is amusing, and sometimes her hands find their way to your hair to fix it, or maybe even to your forearm just because.
soobin is a bystander, the poor guy thinks it’s just how girls are and is completely oblivious that the two of you are fighting the thick tension in the air.
–
the last coffee beans were grinded, so you tap on soobin’s shoulder and tell him that you’re going to the back to grab more. he nods at you and sends you that pursed grin, you place a hand on his shoulder and thank him.
when you reach the small closet, you find danielle in the room as well, rummaging for packaging and more boxes for the pastries and desserts. she’s oblivious to your presence until you knock flicker the light on and off once, making her squeal and jump from surprise. your coworker turns around and hits the rack unknowingly, when she sees you, she starts to calm down.
“y/n! you scared me!”
you laugh. “sorry, i just needed some–”
above danielle, you spot a bag of coffee beans—at least three pounds heavy—starting to tip. before it can fall, you move without hesitation. you rush over, reaching out and getting on your tiptoes to catch it with one hand just in time.
a sigh of relief leaves your lips, but you catch your breath again as soon as you look back down.
danielle is close. her face is a few inches apart from you and your hand is still up to hold the coffee beans, making the moment much more intimate and nerve-racking than it actually is. she looks at you intensely, her lips parting before her eyes dart down to your lips.
“y/n,” she almost whispers.
you gulp and look down at her lips, then away, putting your arm down and grabbing the coffee beans with you as you do so. your faces are closer now and you feel your heartbeat rapidly pounding against your chest, threatening to break through. danielle still stares at the features presented to her, pupils dilating.
you break the tension, looking away and stepping back, holding the coffee beans to your chest almost like you’re hugging them. your eyes dart around the room nervously, your cheeks burn like they’re steak being put onto a hot iron skillet, and you gulp one last time.
“the um, t-the beans… they almost fell on you.”
“yeah?”
“i’m um, i need to uh– yeah, there’s no more grinds and i need to make a latte…”
“right.” danielle starts to smirk, looking at the aftermath on your face. “you do that then. oh, and by the way.”
“hm?”
she steps forward to push hair out your face and behind your ear, her fingers graze against the back of it. “your ears are red–and warm.”
“oh, um, maybe.” you mumble softly. danielle giggles at you before you leave the room,
–
the two of you don’t speak on the incident the rest of the shift since danielle can tell you’re flustered and she’s also really good at keeping a conversation going. plus, work is in the way at times, so doing your job saves you.
after you two clock out for the day, both of you walk to your car and danielle watches you closely before looking out the window again. you feel a shiver down your spine as you get out the parking spot and the grip on the wheel is tighter the whole way to her apartment complex.
you park in front of the entrance, danielle unbuckles her seatbelt and says, “thanks for the ride.”
“it’s no problem.”
“i’ll see you tomorrow.”
“yup.”
your coworker narrows her eyes at you, looking at you questionably as if she were expecting something different. she puts her hand on yours, smiles, then gets out the car.
she starts to walk towards the entrance, and as she walks through the door you huff.
“i can’t be like this, fuck me. another lecture from hyein would kill me.” you groan.
you grab your keys, unbuckle your seatbelt, and get out the car as soon as possible. you sprint towards the entrance and look around for danielle, catching a glimpse of her walking towards the stairs, so you follow after her.
she’s already up a flight somehow right when you reach the bottom of the stairwell, you catch her hair just barely and shout up at her,
“danielle!” she looks down to see you breathing a little heavier than normal. “wait!”
“y/n? what are you doing here?”
“i– wait there.” you call out before running up the stairs. danielle doesn’t listen and starts to walk down as well, which leads to you running into her when you clash halfway, accidentally bumping her. “s-sorry.”
“you’re out of breath.”
inhaling quickly, you nod. “a bit.”
danielle laughs. “why did you run after me?”
“i was um, i was wondering…” you poke the inside of your cheek with your tongue, struggling to make eye contact with her. “are you um, well, fuck, sorry– okay, um.”
“take your time.” she teases.
you giggle before looking into her eyes and composing yourself. “do you want to hangout outside of work sometime? i really… like working with you and talking and yeah all of it, but work kind of limits a lot.”
she looks at you with a growing blush fostering her cheeks. one good look at you–messy hair tucked behind your ears, the baby tee hugging you, your flushed face from running, the adorable look you give her as you wait for an answer – danielle nods and her teeth show as she smiles at you.
“i would love that.”
“really?” you ask, eyes widening. you shake your head and laugh to yourself before asking, “when is good for you?”
“i’m not doing anything right now, are you?”
“i need to pick my cousin up soon but that’s it.”
“okay! you should go pick up your cousin and we can head downtown?”
“oh, now? today?” you say in disbelief; danielle hasn’t given you a chance to plan or mentally prepare for this. you’re already winded, but this is like a tornado picking you up and throwing you over to another continent. “i mean, yes, that’s perfect, yeah.”
“pick me up later then, that alright?”
“i’ll text you when hyein– er, when i drop my cousin off.”
“perfect, i’ll see you then?”
“yes, mhm.”
–
you’ve never driven so fast, nor have you gotten ready so quickly. your cousin gripped the door handle tightly as you sped fifteen miles over the limit in a neighborhood, glancing at your concentrated, flushed face.
usually, hyein is the one rushing home after school since it makes her homesick. but today, the unexpected sight of you bursting into the house, darting to your room, and emerging five minutes later with a denim jacket, jeans, and makeup on left her wide-eyed.
hyein’s laying on the couch when she catches you fixing your hair in the mirror, clenching your jaw and taking a deep breath.
“what’s up with you.”
“danielle.”
“elaborate?”
“i dropped her home and asked her to hangout and then i was like ‘oh okay when?’ and she’s basically saying that now, today, like later. i have to pick her up like right now– wait, do i look good? too much? too little? is it–”
“you look fine y/n, very pretty. i think danielle will appreciate it.”
“you sure?”
hyein sighs and stands up, you’re a little taller then her, so she has to tilt her head up just barely to fix your hair and pat down your jacket.
“stop stressing, it’s just a hangout, no? you didn’t say it was a date did you?”
shit.
“i mean no, but–”
“okay so stop stressing and go pick her up!” hyein rolls her eyes at you. “you’ll do great kid.”
“who are you calling kid?”
“blah blah blah, go get out the house.”
you look at her defeatedly, brows curled up and a pout played on your lips. hyein simply laughs at you before you grab your keys, tote bag, and head out the door.
-
you reach her apartment complex and spot her outside, waiting while engrossed in her phone. danielle jumps when a car honks at her, but then she sees you in the driver’s seat. a smile spreads across her face, and she runs over to you, her excitement palpable.
danielle gets in the passengers seat. “hello again.”
“hi.”
“downtown? are we going to metro or are you going to park there.”
“it’s a surprise,” you smirk mischieviously before starting to drive. danielle giggles and trusts your little ‘surprise.’
the car ride is filled with laughter as you two sing along to your favorite songs. despite having slightly different music tastes, there are many songs that you both enjoy and can belt out together until you find a good spot to park in the city.
danielle waits for you as you pay for parking, looking out at the social city and lovely views. but one view is lovelier than the city, lovelier than everything really. her lips turn up when she looks at you pressing the button and grabbing the ticket that’s dispensed out.
you fix your hair. “okay, before we go to the surprise did you want to check out the stores?”
“i don’t go downtown too often, so i don’t know what’s good.”
“me neither,” you shrug, then look around. “the city is big, we can surely find something we both like. i hope you like exploring.”
“if it’s with you, then why wouldn’t i like exploring?”
you're caught off guard by the compliment, opting for a chuckle to hide how it makes your heart run a marathon and your tummy twist and turn.
three hours pass but you swear it’s only been thirty minutes.
the two of you walked everywhere, exploring small cafes, charming clothing stores, and vintage record shops. danielle made sure to take as many pictures of you as possible, insisting on "capturing the moment" and telling you that you're "adorable." her reasons made you giggle nervously, each compliment warming your heart.
you hold onto danielle’s bag of clothes and trinkets she had bought – you practically had to fight her to simply hold the bag – as you lead her down an alleyway. she’s following you mindlessly, not questioning your sudden change in plans since it must be part of your oh-so-lovely surprise.
“i’ve had a lovely time with you, we should spend time together outside of work much more often.” she says softly, turning to look at you and smile. she’s glowing.
it's five in the evening, and the sun is beginning to set, golden rays seeping through the little cracks in the alleyway. each beam enhances her already striking features. her eyes shine when they catch the light, turning her brown eyes into a mesmerizing gold. the wind tousles her curly hair, making her even more beautiful with each stray strand. the way her teeth peek out when her smile widens makes your knees weak—you could stare at her for hours.
she snaps you out your trance. “y/n, can i ask you something?”
“yeah, what is it?”
“did you not like me when we first met?”
you two continue to walk, but you’ve fallen silent. looking down at the ground, you shake your head and turn to look at her again.
“no, no that’s not it.” you shake your hands in defense. “i’m just… not a morning person, and very cautious.”
she giggles, “what?”
“when i did closing, all my coworkers were terrible. it was a nightmare despite being awake at the time, you know? and it’s different waking up so early for me, i’m not a morning person in any way.”
“i’m aware.” danielle interjects, making you roll your eyes and shove her with your shoulder playfully.
you look around the area, clicking your tongue as everything starts to become recognizable. grabbing her hand, you find a little exit and lead her to a small area overlooking a part of the city near the river. it’s beautiful, and danielle is mesmerized by the view.
from where you both stand, you watch her mouth fall open, her hand almost covering it. she sighs in awe, taking in the scene—the buildings with some windows lit and others dark, the flowers in full bloom, and the trees with vibrant leaves.
“y/n, was this the surprise?”
you start to walk ahead, then turn around and motion with your head for her to follow. she watches you sit down on a rock that luckily has space for two people. she sits down next to you, watching as you prop yourself up with both hands behind your back.
you both sit in comfortable silence, the golden hues of the sunset reflecting off the river and casting a warm glow over everything. danielle’s eyes dart from the view to you, her smile never fading. you catch her gaze and smile back, feeling a sense of peace and contentment. the moment feels perfect–it is perfect.
“this is the surprise, and also kind of my apology for being an ass to you the first few weeks of working.”
danielle admires the side of your face as you watch the view, the sun hitting you beautifully, tracing each feature she adores the most.
“i’m not a morning person, and i guess i was stubborn and always pissy. i didn’t want to talk a lot because i was scared of you and soobin – mostly you – being terrible like the closing staff.” you meet her eyes with your own. “but you’re far from that.”
she does that thing where her eyes soften and her lips form something between a pout and a smile, much like the time she talked about a puppy she ran into on the street. but now, the emotion of adoration and awe is much more intense. her gaze seems to hold a deeper meaning, reflecting the beauty of the moment and the bond you share.
“y/n, you’re so…” she covers her face with a hand, concealing her blush. “you’re wonderful.”
“i just wanted to share a view i really like with you, since i appreciate you a lot, you know? and we’ve been getting close so… i just… yeah.”
avoiding her look, you turn to watch the view again. yeah, you’d much rather be staring at her while she admires the view, but you can’t possibly do that when the sun is exposing your crimson cheeks.
“can i take a picture of you?” she asks, pulling out her phone. “you’re just so gorgeous right now, i really want to have something to look back on later.”
look back on you? you?
“yeah, sure.” you respond bashfully.
she holds her phone up, then looks at you, grins, and says, “cheese!”
you chuckle and shoot her a lovely, toothy, beaming smile. “cheese!”
–
the two of you alternate between talking and admiring the view for another two hours until the sun starts to set. by then, danielle has ended up close to you, your arms touching purposefully.
as you walk back to your car, a gust of wind brushes past and danielle shivers. she's only wearing a cropped t-shirt and sweatpants, which isn’t ideal for the cooler night. without a second thought, you slip off your jacket and drape it over her shoulders, grinning.
“thank you, y/n,” she says, looking up at you through her eyelashes. “you’re not cold?”
you shake your head, the warmth from the evening and the moment enough to keep you comfortable. “nope, i’m good,” you reply, enjoying the way she pulls your jacket closer around herself. it looks even better on her.
“i have a longsleeve on, and i don’t want you getting sick dani.”
her eyes widen and she gasps. “oh my god.”
“what?”
“you called me dani!”
you ‘tsk’ at her and shake your head, but smile to yourself. “yeah and?”
“you never ever call me that.”
“well i’m very fond of you now so… dani it is.”
both of you continue on to the car, enjoying each others presence while lingering close.
–
you reach her apartment complex and somehow those five – almost six – hours seemed like they weren’t enough. the last thing you wanted was the night to end, but here you are, parked in front of the entrance.
danielle hesitates in her seat, not wanting the night to end either. “hey, just to clarify…”
“yes?”
“did you… was this a date?”
you melt. “at first i just wanted to hangout with you, but as soon as you got into my car when i picked you up i really wanted it to be. what did you think it was?”
she relaxes into the seat and lets out a sigh of relief. “oh thank god. you were so adorable and cute the whole time and the thought of this just being coworkers– no, friends, hanging out was dreadful.”
“well then, it was definitely a date.”
she hums before silence follows. you two sit there smiling like idiots at each other, the air filled with excitement and adoration.
“i’ll see you at work tomorrow?” danielle says it like it’s a question, but it’s guaranteed unless something deadly catches you by surprise. even then, you’d still make an effort to see danielle.
“yeah. i’ll pick you up too.”
“great,” danielle mumbles. without any warning, she quickly reaches over, placing a hand on the back of your neck and pressing her lips to your cheek. her eyes close, and you freeze in place as she hides herself by pressing her nose into your skin. “i really, really enjoyed everything. i like you so, so much.”
her voice sends a shiver down your spine, and the feeling is heightened when she kisses your cheek again, lingering before she pulls away.
she winks at you before waving. “have a good night, y/n. sleep well.”
your mouth is agape, and you can’t even move. you sit there, watching her walk back to her apartment complex. she looks back once more to wave and smile again. you’re flushed, your heart racing faster than any f1 car. you realize you’re the happiest you’ve been in ages.
–
danielle squeals as she enters the apartment, making minji and hanni – who are playing some card game – jump and yelp themselves.
“what the hell man?” hanni yells.
“oh my god it was a date.”
“well obviously.” minji responds, watching danielle flop onto the couch. “she ran for you just to ask to hangout, i don’t even do that for you guys.”
“maybe because you secretly hate us.”
“hanni shut up you’re no better.”
danielle kicks her feet, smiling like a little kid and sighing dreamily. minji and hanni give each other a glance, then shrug at each other.
“she took me to this wonderful view and oh my god it was beautiful but not as beautiful as her like oh my god and talking to her is so fun and natural and she’s so sweet and–”
minji cuts her off, noticing the jacket she has on. “is the denim hers?”
“yes.” danielle says smittenly, she’s lovestruck. “and i kissed her cheek just now.”
“oh wooow maybe your flirting can get you places.”
danielle grabs a pillow and throws it at hanni, making the trio all laugh together.
–
work is normal the next day—well, for the most part. it's just much more annoying since the two of you can’t be hopelessly in love in front of soobin and all the customers. after all, it’s a professional setting.
you can’t help but steal glances at her whenever you get the chance, especially when she’s taking orders. she’s so sweet and friendly with everyone, and it only makes you fall for her even more. if hyein were here, she’d probably roll her eyes and pretend to gag at how hopelessly in love you are.
danielle catches you staring after she’s finished putting a customers croissant in their bag, smirking at you knowingly.
“hey, do your job!”
“oh shut up…”
she laughs before grabbing your wrist, dragging you to the door to the back. she looks over to soobin, who’s cleaning the counters, and shouts, “we’ll be back! i need y/n to help reach something for me.”
he shoots a thumbs up before starting to wipe again. danielle leads you back to the storage room giggling, then closes the door to leave you two alone.
“hey, we’re still on the clock.” you warn.
“i know, i know.” danielle starts to wrap her arms around your neck, pulling you closer. “i wanted to do something i didn’t get to last night.”
you clench your jaw. “right.”
“mhm.” she says, staring at your lips.
you couldn’t resist any longer. with a surge of giddy excitement, you close the distance between you and danielle, eagerly cupping her face in your hands. as your lips meet hers, they are just as soft and inviting as you had imagined, yet the reality surpasses any expectation.
she pulls away first to mumble against your lips, “you’re lovely.”
“you’re even better.”
danielle closes the distance, you both smile against each other and savor the short amount of time you both have in the storage closet. kissing her is everything, she’s just perfect.
time seems to stand still as you both melt into the kiss, a tender warmth spreading through every inch of your being. it’s as if the world around you fades away, leaving only the sensation of her warmth, the taste of her lips, and the intoxicating feeling of being so close to someone you adore.
when she starts to cup your cheeks, you conclude that maybe mornings aren’t so bad–definitely not if danielle is in the mix.

You aren’t a brat.
Okay, maybe you are just a little bit, but that doesn’t mean that your frustration with Chan isn’t justified. You get it. His friends are important to him. The time that he spends with them is sacred and you’d never want to do anything to get in the way of that. Chan’s always been good at keeping the balance, hanging with his friends without cutting into how much attention he gives you. But lately that balance has been severely lacking and you can’t help but feel neglected.
With everyone’s schedules opening up, the guys coming over once or twice a week has turned into a nightly event, hardly leaving space for the romance you’re accustomed to. You’ve tried to drop a few hints here and there that you’d like more alone time with him but it seems to fall on deaf ears. Exhausted with trying a gentler approach, you’ve cooked up another way to grab his attention.
You aren’t a brat.
Okay, maybe you are, more than a little bit, but that doesn’t mean that what you’re about to do to Chan isn’t justified.
“Babe, could you bring me a glass of water?” Chan shouts over his shoulder, fingers tapping away at his laptop.
He’d usually get up and get it for himself but he’s too in the zone for that tonight. This is how he gets when he’s working on a song. He spends hours in the bedroom, glued to his desk, frying his retinas with the computer screen.
“Of course, Channie! One sec!” you shout back, your voice sweet enough to make him crack a faint smile. You’re always there for him, always so willing to help with even the smallest tasks. He wonders how he got a girl like you. A sweetheart to the core.
The pitter patter of your feet trails down the hallway and you’re right over his shoulder, setting an ice cold glass of water down on the table for him. “Nice and cold for you” you smile, rustling his messy brown hair.
Without looking, Chan rubs your arm, leaning his head against your soft belly, “Thank you, baby. Oh, before I forget, Bin and Han are coming over tonight. They should be here in, hmm, an hour. Could you just let them in when they get here?”
“That’s totally not a problem. I’ll let them right in” you say, gracing him with a kiss on the top of the head before heading back for the kitchen. Chan’s brain automatically shifts back to the task at hand, determined to apply the last few tweaks to the song before he plays it for the guys.
Stopping yourself before you hit the doorway you turn on your heels, smiling from ear to ear, “Hey, baby, I was gonna order a pizza. Can I grab your card real quick?”
“Hmm?” he asks, processing your request on a delay, “Uh, of course, here.”
Fishing his wallet from the pocket of his sweatpants, he turns to hand it to you and sees something that makes his heart stop. You’re naked. Not fully naked but in his eyes you might as well be. You’re standing in the doorway with the most innocent smile on your face and the skimpiest clothes he’s ever seen you in.
You’re rocking a pair of skin tight shorts that ride your hips deliciously, nearly choking your plush thighs. They’re riding up high enough that there’s simply no way you have panties on underneath them and you definitely don’t.
The crop top you’ve got on barely constitutes a shirt. It’s more of a thin strip of material covering your bare tits, placing your perky nipples at serious risk of popping out. And you’re standing there like it’s nothing, your fluffy breasts nearly bouncing out of your crop top as you skip over to grab his wallet.
His gaze dances over you with a seriousness that has the tiny hairs on the back of your neck standing up. “Did you plan on changing or…”
“Changing?” you laugh, filing through his wallet to find his credit card, “Why would I change? Bin and Han basically live here at this point. I’m sure they won’t mind.”
At last getting your hands on his card, you toss the wallet back into his lap and turn to leave but he grabs for you wrist. “You need to change…now” he commands, his jaw tightening. Why you’re acting so oblivious is beyond him but the clock is ticking on his friends’ arrival and he’s in no mood for games. Whatever your issue is you need to get over it quickly before his patience runs out.
“Why should I?” you snap, snatching your arm free of his grasp. The next thing that comes out of your mouth is purely out of bitterness. It shouldn’t be said, you know it the moment you taste the words on the tip of your tongue, but by the time you realize your mistake it’s too late. “Just because you don’t want me anymore doesn’t mean someone else won’t.”
The laptop slams shut, almost making you jump out of your skin. Chan rises to face you, the gentle brown of his eyes darkening as he backs you into the bed. “What did you say?”
“I said that…I said…nothing. I said nothing” you stutter, instantly feeling much less confident in your plan.
“You said ‘Just because you don’t want me anymore’” he repeats, nearly choking on the words himself, “Why would you say that? Why would you ever think for a moment that I don’t want you?”
“Because you barely touch me anymore” you sigh, flopping down on the edge of the bed. You almost crumble at your own admission, hugging yourself for comfort. “Most days you’re too busy on your laptop or with your friends to even look at me and it makes me feel, I don’t know, like you don’t want me anymore.”
Chan kneels down in front of you, taking your hands into his, and you can feel the tension in the room soften. Ignoring you was never his intention. The knowledge that you ever felt unwanted is like a bullet to the heart. He’d gotten so swept up in everything else that he took for granted the fact that you’re always there, right by his side. A mistake he regrets more than anything as he watches tears prick the corners of your eyes.
“Baby, I’m sorry. I didn’t know. I do want you. I’ll always want you” he swears, staring into your eyes so that you feel every single word he says. “I love you. You know that, yeah?”
You nod, knowing that, even if he can be annoying, Chan would never bullshit you. That isn’t who he is. “Yeah, I know. I love you too.”
Chan drops down to his knees, palms clasped together in flawless begging formation, “So give me a chance to make this right, please?” He pokes out his bottom lip, making big brown puppy dog eyes, “Pretty please?”
It’s impossible not to giggle at how cute he is. Only a few minutes ago you were pissed enough to bite his head off, now all you want to do is kiss him. You hate how you can never stay mad at this man but deep down inside you never wanted to be. You only wanted him.
“Ugh, fine” you huff, arms folded across your chest, “But don’t let it happen again, okay?”
Chan inches towards you, his poked out bottom lip ghosting yours, “It will never happen again. Cross my heart. Can I get a smile?”
“No” you refuse, turning your attention to the art on the walls or anything else in the room to distract you from the way that handsome face turns you into a pool of jelly.
“No? You sure?” he asks, pressing his full rosy lips to your neck. That first point of contact gives you goosebumps and you quiver in spite of yourself. Chan kisses his way up your neck, his lips so feathery against your skin that it tickles, shaking that smile right out of you.
Chan wraps his arms around you, biceps flexing as he brings you in closer, “There she is. There’s my girl.”
“Not fair. You cheated” you giggle, wiggling in his grasp. Your attempt at getting away is half hearted at best. You’re right where you want to be.
Chan sprinkles kisses all over your face. Your forehead, your cheeks, your lips, until you’re all wet with kisses and reduced to a giggling mess.
“Oh, wait, I’ve gotta text the guys” he gasps, abruptly rushing back over to the desk and picking his phone up. For a fleeting moment you feel deflated. An entire conversation and his friends are still the first thing on his mind. But as he turns around your fears are immediately put to rest.
“I told them not to come,” he says, tucking his phone into one of the drawers.
You perk up, giddy with joy, “Wait, are you serious?”
Chan hovers over you, taking your squishy cheeks into the palms of his hands. “Of course I am, baby” he coos, beaming down at you, “I can see them whenever but tonight I wanna be with you. I was thinking maybe we could go out to dinner.”
“Dinner? Ooh, I have the perfect dress!” You’re ready to rush to the closet and throw together a quick outfit but Chan gently pushes you back down onto the bed, refusing to move an inch out of your way.
There’s a fire in his gaze, like a starving animal who just spotted the most delectable prey. “Were you really gonna wear that in front of them tonight?”
You sit in silence, calculating the answer in your head before you slip up again and say the wrong thing. Technically you hadn’t thought the plan through that far. Would you have actually done it?
“I just wanted to make you a little jealous.”
“Make me jealous when you could’ve just talked to me? That’s not what good girls do, is it?” he scolds, his voice low and stern as he brushes the hair away from your face. Tension floods the room once more, putting you back on edge. He strokes your cheek, tracing it with his thumb, “I want you to lay back.”
“But I…” you stutter, fighting to explain yourself.
Chan leans down, kissing you hungrily, his tongue darting into your mouth to perform a delicate dance with yours. “I said lay back, don’t make me ask again, okay?”
His aggression causes heat to pulse through you, pooling right between your thighs. Not daring to make him ask again, you lay back, propped up on your elbows as you slip all the way back on the bed. Chan watches you closely, on the verge of salivating at how your eager breasts bounce with every movement. “Spread your legs.”
At last you have a definite answer to his question. Were you really gonna wear that tonight? Hell no. How could you wear something like this in front of Bin and Han when you’re dying of shyness in front of a man who's seen you naked a thousand times?
Heart racing, you do as you’re told, bending your knees and spreading your legs open for him. The cool air in the room blows against your core, confirming what you already know. You’re wet, dripping all over these brand new shorts. Chan kneels between your legs, fingers pressing into the fat of your thighs to spread you wider. He licks his lips, a subconscious reaction to seeing the imprint of your perfect pussy lips through the thin material that only gets wetter the more he stares.
Your face is too pretty and innocent for a girl intent on being this slutty. It’s a dynamic that has his cock stiffening behind those black sweatpants. You have no idea the restraint it takes not to drag you to the edge of the bed and fuck you. Everything inside of him is saying to devour you but he needs to play with his food a little bit more first.
“I need you to give me a real answer, baby” he whispers, hooking two fingers beneath the material covering your soaked entrance. He drags his knuckles lightly along your slit and they glide smoothly through your arousal, teasing your twitching core. You throw your head back, pouting cutely as you squeeze your thighs together, desperate for more of that tingling sensation.
Chan forces your legs back open, a palm coming down on your inner thigh, slapping it harshly. “Look at me.”
You wince at the pain, loving it at the same time, and pop your head up to regain eye contact. You can feel your nipples grow rigid, peeking out enough to glimpse as your crop top rides up.
“You aren’t to ever take your eyes off of me. Understood?” Chan says, dragging his knuckles up to brush your tender clit.
“I…I understand” you whine, nails raking the sheets, pleasure rippling through you.
Spreading his fingers, Chan scissors them around your clit, smearing your slick through the warmth of your folds. “Now tell me, were you gonna walk around dressed like this all night?” he asks, rolling your clit between his fingers. The whimpers you let out only encourage him to put more pressure on your clit, the arousal visibly trickling from your core and onto the sheets.
“You were gonna flash them this pretty little cunt, hmm? I thought it was all mine” he says, feigning disappointment. He drags his fingers back down to your entrance, slowly easing them into you until your body’s purring.
“It’s yours. All yours” you moan, biting down on your lip. Your walls are so greedy, eating those fingers right up. It’s been weeks since you felt his touch and it’s nothing short of ecstasy to have his hands on you. Inside of you. You arch your back and your tits pop right out of your top, jiggling sensually as he works you with his fingers.
Chan kisses the inside of your knee, bringing his thumb up to toy with your clit again, “Louder for me, baby. Tell me who you belong to.” He curls his fingers against your cushy walls, his fingertips tapping at your sweet spot. Your body just wants to collapse and let him toy with your needy pussy as much as he wants but you remember the rules. Your eyes are never to leave him. Ever.
“I belong to you, Channie! I’m yours!” you cry out as he picks up the pace, the veins in his arm becoming all the more defined by the force he uses to drive his fingers into your core. Resting your foot on his thigh, you inch over to rub his bulge and he groans, his eyes ready to roll back in his head. He thanks the heavens that his sweatpants are black otherwise you’d have known how hard you had him ages ago.
“What’s mine?” he asks, nearly falling off rhythm from how well you tease his cock. All of the blood rushes from his head to his cock, pushing the band of his sweatpants to its limit.
You clench around his fingers, shifting your hips down further to grind against his hand, “This pussy is yours, Channie. I want you to take it.” Your voice is the sexiest thing he’s ever heard. It’s dripping with enough need that he can’t deny you.
Chan dives face first between your thighs, tearing the flimsy shorts right off of you, and taking a mouthful of your cunt. The slurping sounds are borderline insane. You’re sticky and sweet coating his tongue, nice and warm as you slip down his throat. You squirm beneath him, burying your fingers in his hair, crying out his name as he laps at your pussy.
You do your best, try your absolute hardest, not to look away from him but you can’t keep your eyes from clenching closed. It’s been so long, it feels so fucking good. You’re barely holding onto your sanity let alone maintaining control over your body.
Chan tilts his head up, suckling at your clit, “I guess we don’t wanna listen tonight.” He pulls his mouth away, releasing your clit with a pop.
“Noooo” you whine at the loss, forcing your teary eyes back open, “I…I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to.”
“I know you didn’t” he sympathizes, rising from the bed to shed his clothing. If there were ever a moment you took your eyes off of him it definitely wouldn’t be now. You didn’t think you could get wetter but seeing your boyfriend standing there naked—muscles on full display, swollen cock dripping arousal between your feet—proves you wrong.
Chan grabs you by the ankles, dragging you right to the edge of the bed, “You just need a little help, that’s all.”
Sandwiching himself between your legs, he aligns the tip with your entrance and grabs you by the chin, pushing your cheeks together so that your lips poke out a tiny bit. “So fucking pretty” he hisses, shuddering at how tight you are when he pops the tip in.
You let out a moan that borders on a whimper and he grins, thrusting into you hard enough that your whole body jiggles from the force. Your eyes squeeze shut and he slaps you on the ass, “Stay with me, baby. I want you to watch what happens to girls who try to make their boyfriends jealous.”
He dips his hips down, switching to an angle even more lethal, and thrusts into you harder this time, bottoming out. Your lids shoot open, glossy eyes wide open as he drills into you. Every stroke of his cock between your gushing walls is like an art, pushing you closer and closer to the edge.
“You feel so fucking good” he hums, his free hand reaching between your legs to pet your cunt. “I’ll always want you. Always want this gorgeous face and…fuck…this pussy.”
His grip on your face is so tight that your words come out jumbled, only breathy moans escaping your lips. He’s so deep inside of you that you’d swear you could feel it in your stomach, right there where all the tension’s building. Your mind’s spinning, core spasming around his cock. You’re fucked out already, your lids growing heavier and almost closing. Just almost. But you force them back open, taking his cock and following instructions like a…
“Good girl” he coos, rubbing your clit faster and faster. Your body jerks, your hands clasping around his arm, and he knows you’re close. “Cum for me. I wanna feel you gush around this cock.”
Chan lets go of your face, grabbing your plush hips to keep you in place, hips snapping in rhythm with your broken moans. He leans in to plant sloppy open mouthed kisses between your breasts, capturing your mouth with his.
“Channie, I’m…I’m…” you gasp, losing your words as a wave of heat washes over you, leaving you creaming down his length, his thickness stretching your walls to the brink.
Chan snakes his fingers into your hair, forcing you to stick to your word. He watches your eyes as they light up at the release, fighting to stay open then widening again when he spills into you, swelling you up with his cum.
He keeps you just like this, staring into your eyes until you can’t take it anymore and your head falls back in surrender. Rolling off of you, he cuddles up beside you, both of you high enough that you’re floating.
“You’re my favorite person in the world” he says, kissing you sweetly.
“You’re mine too." You crack a weak smile against his lips, “Soooo, did you still wanna grab something to eat?”
“I mean, I already ate” he grins, dipping a finger into your lingering wetness and licking it off, “But I could go for some more.”

☆--- warnings: zayne calls you a good girl, fluff, a bit suggestive, (I DESIRE HIM DEEPLY)
yes, I went to the dentist, yes, he called me a good girl, yes, I'm now writing this.
It had been a busy day, with errands piling up because of the demands of your job. With all the rushing around, you’d almost forgotten about your doctor's appointment, and now you were running a bit late.
As always, your appointment was scheduled with your primary care physician, Zayne. Yes, he’s a cardiologist, so a check-up seemed… below the scope of his practice. But he’d insisted on handling it for you, especially given the state of your heart issues. Besides, he was more than just a doctor—he was a close friend, someone who had been there through every rough patch.
“Long time no see,” he said, peeking over his glasses at you, a gentle smile tugging at his lips. You rolled your eyes at his sarcasm. A month ago, you’d been in his office after a major accident during one of your shifts as a hunter. It hadn’t been that long.
“Yes, yes, I just need a routine check-up,” you replied, smiling back. You watched him move across the room, grabbing your chart, and then sliding the rolling chair to sit directly in front of you.
This was all familiar. You knew the routine well by now, given how often you ended up here. As he picked up his stethoscope, you straightened your back automatically, your muscles moving out of habit to give him the proper position to listen to your heartbeat.
You were used to the way he leaned in close, the scent of his cologne mingling with the sterile smell of the room. It always made you feel safe, like things were under control, even if the world outside was chaotic. Maybe it was because he’d been there through every crisis—patching you up after late-night incidents, making sure you took your meds, even sneaking in sweets when you looked tired.
He grabbed a wooden tongue depressor and a small flashlight, and without thinking, you opened your mouth, anticipating the familiar action. It was almost muscle memory at this point, but today, when he gently pressed the stick on your tongue, he said, “Good girl.”
Your eyes widened, and you felt a rush of heat spread across your cheeks. It was so simple, but something about the way he said it… caught you off guard.
Zayne dropped the stick in the trash, tapping your leg as usual, signaling you could close your mouth. “Always so obedient,” he added, his voice light but his eyes watching your reaction closely, almost like he was studying you.
“Shut up…” you blurted out, trying to play it off, but your voice came out a little too quick, a little too flustered. It was embarrassing, how easily he could make you feel like this—like you were transparent, and he could see through every layer you tried to hide behind.
He chuckled softly, swiveling the chair away to grab the next tool. “Mhm, it’s okay if you like that, y/n,” he said, almost nonchalantly, as if he hadn’t just turned your world upside down with a few simple words.

【Opposites
Attract】 - Part Thirteen

Pairing: Mohawk!Mark Grayson x f!Reader
Warnings: Mark definitely is starting to let his crazy show - so possessive/toxic behavior
Tags: Angst
Word Count: 2,857
Chapter Synopsis: Emily has to give you The Talk™ about toxic relationships as Mark’s behavior starts to spiral.
a/n: appreciate everybody's feedback on my poll from last night!! glad to hear the majority of people are wanting this to keep going with me - i do *vaguely* have an idea for how i'd want it to end but, y'know, how we get there is a whole other conversation lmao
Part Twelve
It happened between classes.
You’d just peeled Mark off you long enough to grab a snack from the student union—he’d insisted on coming with, of course, because “there’s creeps on this campus”—when Emily finally cornered you.
Like, physically. One second you were reaching for a vitamin water, the next, Emily had spun you gently by the elbow and tugged you just out of earshot.
Mark was still in view. Still watching. He was leaning against the far wall with his arms crossed, eyes fixed on you like a trained predator in a college hoodie. The tension in his shoulders only relaxed when you looked back.
Emily waited a beat. Then crossed her arms. “Okay,” she said, voice low. “So, uh, not to be the Greek chorus in your feral love story or anything, but… can we talk?”
You blinked. “Sure?”
She hesitated, like she was trying to pick the words that were least likely to get her vaporized by your boyfriend. “I know he’s hot,” she began, “and like, very feral. And says things like he’d fight a black hole for your smile—”
“He would,” you said automatically.
Emily nodded, exasperated. “Exactly! That’s kind of the point! He’s obsessed, babe. Like, full tilt. You’re his reason now. Which I know seems sweet but, that’s a lot of gravity for one person, y’know?”
You glanced past her at Mark, who—upon sensing the briefest dip in your attention—tilted his head with laser focus, brows furrowed like he was trying to decide whether to interrupt.
You looked back at Emily. Soft. Sure. Not even a flicker of hesitation. “Yeah,” you said. “I know.”
Emily blinked. Once. Twice. Then she tilted her head. “Do you, though?” You frowned, confused.
“What do you mean?”
She let out a slow breath and looked down at her shoes, like she was wrestling with something heavy. “You know that guy I told you I dated last year? Nate? Worked at the rock wall?”
Your eyes sparked with recognition. “The one with the thing about protein powder?”
Emily snorted. “Yeah. That one.” She was quiet for a moment, then met your eyes—steady now, serious in a way she rarely ever was. “He was obsessed with me.”
You got a bit stiffer.
“I thought it was cute at first. He showed up with coffee. Memorized my class schedule. Carried my bag. Always knew where I was.” Her voice was soft, but the memory made her face tense. “I didn’t even notice how weird it got. Not until I tried to go somewhere without him. Tried to get some space.”
You didn’t say anything.
“He lost it,” she continued, shrugging one shoulder like she could shake off the ghost of it. “Started showing up at my shifts. My friends’ dorms. Told me it was my fault, that I made him that way. That he couldn’t function without me.”
You listened, doe eyed.
“I had to block his number. Report him. And even then, for months after, I felt like I had to keep looking over my shoulder.” Emily’s voice didn’t waver. She wasn’t telling you this to scare you. She was telling you because she cared. “Now imagine that—times a thousand.”
You pursed your lips.
“Because your guy?” she nodded toward where Mark still stood across the way, arms folded and eyes tracking you like a hawk. “He’s obsessed and Invincible. Do you understand what that means?”
You blinked, caught off guard. “I mean… yeah. He’s—strong.”
“No,” she cut in, gently but firm. “Not strong. Not ripped. Not intense. I mean… he could crush someone’s skull like it was a soda can. He could punch a hole through a building. He could wipe an entire block off the map just by a miscalculated landing.”
You felt a prickle of something cold slide down your spine.
Emily took a step closer, voice soft but urgent. “Do you get that? Like really get it? He’s not just powerful—he’s limitless. If he lost it, if he snapped… no one could stop him.”
You didn’t look at Mark now. You didn’t have to. You could still feel his presence across the room like heat on your skin.
“I’m not saying he’s gonna hurt you,” Emily added quickly. “God, I hope to hell he never would. But obsession? Possession? That’s a fragile line, babe. And guys like that…” She hesitated. “They don’t break. They break things.”
A silence settled between you. And then—quietly, honestly—you said, “I know.”
Emily searched your face, like she was still trying to find some crack in the understanding. Some sign you weren’t seeing the whole picture.
“I’m serious,” she whispered. “It doesn’t take evil to do damage. Just too much love. Too much fear. One bad day. One wrong word. And someone ends up bleeding in a parking lot.”
Your throat felt tight.
“Now imagine that person’s made of steel,” Emily said. “And imagine he thinks losing you is the same thing as losing everything.”
You were still staring at her, those words—he could wipe a block off the map—echoing in your head, when a shadow fell over your shoulder.
“Everything okay?” His voice was low. Controlled. Too controlled.
You turned, and there he was right behind you, his hand ghosting the small of your back. His posture was stiff, like he was holding himself in place by sheer force of will.
You lit up like always, completely unaware of the tension crackling under his skin. “Yeah, of course. Just having some girl talk.”
Emily looked at you with softened eyes, then hardened immediately when she glanced at Mark. She didn’t say anything, just gave him a look. A clear, pointed warning.
“I’ve got another class,” she sighed, slinging her bag over one shoulder. “See you tonight, okay?”
You nodded, and Mark just stared. When she disappeared around the corner, the silence between you and Mark stretched.
He didn’t look at you right away. Just watched the space where Emily had been like he was still listening to something you couldn’t hear. Then, finally, almost too casual, he says, “I think you should get a different roommate.”
You blinked. “What?”
Mark shrugged, shifting his weight, but his fingers tightened slightly against your back. “I just… I don’t think she’s a good influence. She doesn’t really get you.”
You tilted your head, confused. “What are you talking about? she’s my best friend. She’s funny, and she looks out for me, y’know? Kind of protective—”
His eyes flicked down to you, dark and unreadable. “You don’t need protecting. That’s what I’m here for.”
You smiled, trying to brush it off. “Exactly. So what’s the problem?”
Mark didn’t answer right away. His thumb brushed your spine like a reflex, like he was soothing himself more than you.
“I don’t like the way she talks about us,” he said quietly. “Like I’m some kind of threat. Like I’d ever hurt you.”
You paused—just barely—but he noticed it. Had he been listening to your conversation?
When you didn’t answer fast enough, he leaned in, voice softer now, more intimate. “Maybe it’d just be better if we had our own place. You’d get more sleep. More space. I could take care of you without her butting in all the time.”
You frowned, something about the way he said take care of you setting off a quiet little alarm in the back of your head.
“Mark…” you started, careful.
But he was already cupping your face, already smoothing your hair back like you’d agreed without saying anything. “Just think about it,” he murmured, eyes locked on yours as his thumb brushed over your cheek. “We could fall asleep in the same bed, every night... Wake up slow... I’d cook you breakfast—burn half of it, probably—but I’d try. For you, I’d try.”
You gave a soft little laugh, and his smile deepened, all fondness and fake innocence. “I’d learn how to make your coffee exactly the way you like it. You’d steal all my hoodies. I’d walk around half-dressed just to distract you while you study.”
“Mark—” you laughed again, cheeks warm now, a little dazed.
He moved in closer, his lips brushing against yours. “I’d keep you safe. Always. You’d never have to lift a finger if you didn’t want to. Just let me take care of you. Like you deserve.”
Your pulse stuttered.
The earlier unease was still there—lingering like a shadow—but it dulled under the way he looked at you now. Like you were sacred. Like you were home. Like he’d crawl through fire if it meant he could brush your hair behind your ear just one more time.
“You really want all that?” you asked, voice soft.
Mark leaned his forehead to yours, breathing you in. “I want you. However I can have you. But if you gave me that?” He kissed the corner of your mouth, tender, reverent. “I’d never let you go.”
There was something in the way he said it. A deeper note beneath the sweetness—one you didn’t quite catch. You just smiled, humming a light sound that made him hold you tighter.
“Oh yeah?” you teased softly, nudging your nose against his. “Maybe once I graduate and land my dream job, we can get a nice place together. You know—two bedrooms, maybe a backyard. Definitely a dog.”
Mark went still for a beat.
You laughed like it was nothing, like it was just pillow talk made in daylight. “A big dumb one,” you continued to muse. “Something that knocks over mailmen and eats socks.”
He was still looking at you, but it wasn’t quite a laugh he gave back—it was quieter. Something deeper. “Yeah,” he said finally, voice low. “A dog.”
You giggled again, not even noticing the way his eyes never left yours. “I’ll spoil him rotten. He’ll love me more than you.”
“He’ll love you. Of course he will.” You smiled, leaning into him with a content sigh. You didn’t see the way his eyes cut across the quad. The way they narrowed.
You didn’t feel the way he clenched his jaw when he spotted a guy yards away glance a little too long in your direction.
You didn’t see it.
But he did. The guy didn’t even know he’d looked at you. Just some sophomore in a ratty varsity jacket, tossing a football to a friend across the lawn. You weren’t even the one he was aiming for. But his eyes skimmed you. Lingered half a second too long.
That was enough.
Mark didn’t move right away. His arm was still around you, his chest still warm where your cheek rested against him. But his whole body had shifted—just slightly. A subtle straightening of his spine. A twitch in his jaw. That still, dangerous quiet that only came before a storm.
You felt his grip flex against your waist, gentle but firm, and for a second it felt like nothing. Just a small squeeze. Comforting. Reassuring.
But Mark was looking past you. Past the trees. Past the crowd. Straight at the boy who had already turned back to his game like he hadn’t just unknowingly pissed off a demi-god in sweatpants.
“Hey,” you said, voice light, hand brushing against his chest. “What’s going on in that head of yours?”
His gaze broke. It took effort—like he had to pull himself away from the target. But he did. Slowly. Eyes falling back to you, softening instantly.
“Nothing,” he said, brushing a knuckle down your cheek. “Just… thinking.”
You gave a curious hum. “About what?”
A beat. Then: “You.” You smiled. God, you were so easy to disarm when he said it like that.
But something in his smile didn’t quite reach his eyes.
—
That evening, Emily didn’t say anything when you came back to the dorm with Mark trailing behind you. She just glanced at him, then at you, and then made a silent decision to go study in the common room.
Mark barely noticed.
He was already pulling you into your bed, curling around you like armor. You barely managed to change into pajamas before he was tucking the blanket around you both with a kind of military precision, like the rest of the world didn’t exist unless it was this bed and you inside it.
Pesto chirped from the windowsill. Mark didn’t even flinch. “Not tonight,” he said flatly. Pesto stared.
You yawned into his chest. “Are you mad?”
He paused. His voice, when it came, was soft. “No.” But he didn’t elaborate.
You let yourself drift, still feeling the warmth of him, the steady thump of his heart under your ear. But you couldn’t quite shake the weight of Emily’s words from earlier.
They don’t break. They break things.
“You’d never hurt me… right?” You didn’t mean it as an accusation. Not really. Just a sleepy, half-murmured question, floating up between the folds of his arms and the soft warmth of the night.
But the second the words left your mouth the mood changed. Mark went still. Not his usual still, either. Not that calm, gentle quiet you’d come to associate with him when he was relaxed. This was different. This was rigid. Like you’d just pulled a pin from a grenade without realizing it.
His arms around you didn’t tighten. Didn’t shift. They just froze—tense, unmoving, like he’d forgotten how to breathe. You blinked, your sleep-fuzzed brain starting to catch up. “Mark?”
He didn’t answer at first. His jaw clenched, and he pulled back just enough to look at you, eyes wide and dark and too awake now. Something flickered behind them—panic, almost. Disbelief.
“…Why would you ask me that?” he said, and his voice wasn’t angry. Not sharp. It was scared.
You straightened instinctively, suddenly alert, reaching up to touch his face. “Hey. I didn’t mean it like that. I just—”
“Who said something to you?” It came out fast. Too fast. His fingers curled around your wrist—not rough, but firm. Desperate. “Did someone tell you to ask that? Did someone put that idea in your head?”
“No one—Mark, slow down—”
His grip dropped instantly, like he’d just realized he was holding on too tight. His hands hovered midair for a second before pulling away completely. He stood, backing off the bed in one fluid motion, pacing the small dorm room like he couldn’t sit still. Like he was too full of motion to contain.
“I’d never hurt you,” he said through tight teeth. “Never. You know that. You know that.” You sat up, the blanket pooling around your waist, watching him.
“I do. I do know that.”
“Then why ask?” he demanded, voice cracking around the edges. “Why—” He stopped short, running both hands over his head, chest rising and falling like he couldn’t get a full breath.
There was something raw in him now. Splintered. Like just the idea that you could be afraid of him had yanked something loose. “I just meant—” you started softly, but he cut you off.
“Emily,” he said, and this time it wasn’t a question. You hesitated. He scoffed—more hurt than angry—and turned away again. “She doesn’t know me. She doesn’t get what this is.”
“She’s just worried,” you said gently. “She’s seen some stuff—she’s not trying to tear us apart—”
“She thinks I’m dangerous.” You paused. He looked back at you now, eyes wild and vulnerable and sharp all at once. “She thinks I’m a threat. That you’re not safe with me.”
“I am safe with you,” you said quickly, standing now too. “I trust you. That’s not—”
“Then why did you ask?” he said again, and this time it was quiet. Barely above a whisper. He wasn’t asking to be accusatory. He was asking like someone who’d just felt the ground shift beneath his feet.
Like you were his foundation. And someone had just cracked it.
You stepped forward slowly, reaching for his hand. He let you take it. Clung to it, even. Like a lifeline. “I asked because… because I’m not stupid,” you said softly. “Because I’ve seen what you can do. I know how strong you are. And yeah, maybe it scares other people. But not me. Not really.”
His eyes searched yours, frantic.
“You’d never hurt me. I believe that. But I also know you could. And that matters too.” His breath hitched. “I don’t think love is ignoring that. I think it’s being honest about it. Not pretending.”
Mark’s face crumpled slightly—just for a moment. Like something cracked under the weight of that. He stepped into you, wrapped both arms around you like he was scared you might evaporate, and tucked his face against your neck.
“I wouldn’t survive it,” he whispered. “If I ever hurt you. I wouldn’t survive it.” He didn’t let go for a long time. And when he finally pulled back, there was something heavier in his eyes. Softer. Sadder. “Let me stay tonight,” he said. “Please.”
How could you ever say no?

I honestly don't remember if I dreamt of making this ask or if I actually did it so forgive me if I already did, but can you make a buck x reader where she's a receptionist at a hospital and they've been lowkey pining for each other but they're too scared to like one of the other members from the 118 play wingman??
ALMOST THERE — E.BUCKLEY
after months of going back and forth to the hospital, buck gets the push he needs to ask out the cute receptionist.
evan buckley x receptionist!reader | fluff | 3.1k | masterlist.
S2/3 spoilers for those who haven’t seen it yet
The hospital at this hour always feels like a world apart from the one that exists during the day.
The waiting room, which is usually buzzing with people and ringing phones, has settled into a hushed quiet. A few night-shift nurses shuffle paperwork at the station, their voices low, the occasional murmur of a conversation drifting through the sterile air.
The vending machine hums softly in the corner, and the clock on the wall ticks away the slow passage of time.
You’re used to this—long shifts, empty chairs, the rhythmic monotony of checking people in and out. Most of the patients at this hour are either too tired to chat or too preoccupied with their own worries. But not him.
Buck strides in through the automatic doors like he always does, his movements easy despite the long months of healing. It’s become routine now: he pushes through the entrance, shakes the cold out of his limbs, and heads straight to your desk.
And, like always, he smiles when he sees you.
“Hey, you,” Buck greets, his voice warm, familiar. “Here to check in for my thrilling, edge-of-your-seat appointment about blood thinners and mobility. Try not to get jealous,”
You huff a quiet laugh, already reaching for the clipboard with his paperwork. “Jealous? Please. I’d trade places with you in a heartbeat. Nothing sounds more exciting than a late-night consult about circulation,”
Buck grins, leaning on the counter just slightly, enough to close the distance between you. “Careful, if you keep talking like that, I might have to switch careers and become a receptionist just so we can keep having these riveting conversations,”
You roll your eyes, biting back a smile. It’s always like this. A little teasing, a little flirting, nothing serious, nothing you let yourself dwell on for too long. He’s a patient, after all, and you’re just the receptionist who happens to be here when his appointments are scheduled.
Still, that doesn’t stop the familiar flicker of warmth in your chest every time he walks in.
“Full name?” you ask, as if you don’t already know it.
“Buck,” he says easily. Then, after a beat, “Evan Buckley. But I feel like we’ve moved past formalities at this point,”
You give him a knowing look, pen poised over the paper. “Date of birth?”
“Uh, still the same as last time,” he says, the corner of his mouth twitching. “But, you know, if you just wanted an excuse to keep me here longer, you could’ve said so,”
You shake your head, suppressing a laugh, and fill in the necessary information. It’s ridiculous, really, the way these moments with him have become the highlight of your shift.
How even in the middle of the night, in a job that often feels thankless and exhausting, Buck makes it feel like something else—like something you might actually look forward to.
“Alright, you’re checked in,” you say, setting the clipboard aside. “Your doc should be ready for you soon,”
“Mm-hmm,” Buck doesn’t move. Instead, he rests his forearms against the counter, tilting his head. “You working the whole night?”
You nod. “Lucky me,”
“Yeah, lucky me too,” he says, and you don’t miss the softness in his voice.
Something about the moment lingers, stretches just a little too long. You should break it, should tell him to take a seat, should move on like you do with every other patient who walks in. But Buck isn’t like every other patient.
He’s the one who always stays a little longer, the one who makes the minutes pass faster, the one who makes you wish you weren’t just the receptionist and he wasn’t just a name on a chart.
Still, you clear your throat and gesture toward the chairs. “Go sit before you get me in trouble, Buckley,”
He grins like he’s won something. “See you in a bit, then?”
You shake your head, but you don’t say no.
—
Time moves differently when Buck is in the waiting room.
Most patients keep to themselves, absorbed in their phones, their paperwork, their own exhaustion. But Buck? Buck talks. To you, to the nurses passing through, to the janitor refilling the sanitiser dispensers.
He makes it feel less like a hospital and more like some casual gathering spot where he just happens to be waiting for medical clearance.
Tonight, though, the waiting room is mostly empty, and that means his attention is solely on you.
“So, be honest,” he says, drumming his fingers against the plastic chair beneath him. “How miserable is this job?”
You raise a brow. “Excuse me?”
“I mean, come on,” he says, gesturing around. “Night shifts at a hospital? I’m guessing it’s not exactly your dream gig,”
You exhale a small laugh. “It’s… not the worst. Some nights are busier than others. And there’s good people here,”
Buck nods, considering. “And what would be the dream gig?”
You hesitate. It’s been a long time since someone asked you that, and even longer since you thought about it seriously.
“I don’t know,” you admit. “Something a little less… predictable, maybe. Something where I don’t feel like I live at this desk,”
“Ah, see, that’s where I have you beat,” Buck says, tapping the counter. “My job’s never predictable. One day I’m pulling cats out of trees, the next I’m getting crushed by a fire truck,”
Your stomach twists at that, at the way he says it so casually. It’s easy to forget, sometimes, that he’s not just this charming guy who walks in every couple of days to make your shift more interesting. He’s a firefighter—someone who runs into danger when everyone else is running away. Someone who almost didn’t make it out.
Your expression must shift, because his teasing demeanour softens. “Hey,” he says, quieter. “Sorry. That was a bad joke,”
You shake your head quickly. “No, it’s—“ You hesitate, then sigh. “It’s just… I can’t imagine what that was like. Going through all of that,”
Buck exhales, rubbing the back of his neck. “Yeah. It was… a lot. But I got lucky. I had my team, and Maddie, and…” He glances at you, something unreadable in his expression. “And, well, I had these late-night check-ins to look forward to,”
Your breath catches, but before you can respond, the nurse at the station calls his name.
Buck pushes off the counter, flashing you one last smile. “Guess I’m up. Don’t go anywhere, alright?”
“As if I have a choice,” you say, but there’s no bite to it.
As Buck walks away, you find yourself staring after him longer than you should.
You tell yourself it doesn’t mean anything. That it can’t.
But the way your heart is still racing says otherwise.
—
It starts to feel like clockwork.
Once a week, Buck strolls into the hospital, flashing that familiar smile, dropping himself onto the counter like he belongs there. And every time, you tell yourself you won’t indulge him for long. That you’ll check him in, maybe exchange a few pleasantries, and send him off like you do with every other patient.
But that’s not how it goes.
Because Buck lingers. He always lingers.
“You look exhausted,” he says one night, tipping his head toward you as he rests his arms against the counter.
You let out a soft, tired laugh, reaching for his paperwork. “Gee, thanks. That’s exactly what every overworked hospital employee wants to hear,”
“I just mean you deserve, like, a solid twelve-hour nap,” he says, unbothered by your sarcasm. “Preferably somewhere that isn't under these awful fluorescent lights,”
“You offering me PTO, Buckley?”
“Better. I’m offering a fully catered dream vacation,” he says, grinning. “All-inclusive, five-star resort, sandy beaches, tiny umbrellas in drinks. Only catch is, I can’t actually pay for any of it, so we’d have to get really creative with financing,”
You shake your head, biting back a smile. “How generous of you,”
“Well, I like to give back,” He nudges a wrapped granola bar across the counter toward you. “Speaking of, thought you might need this. You’re always here so late, I figure they don’t exactly give you a five-course meal break,”
You blink down at the granola bar, something warm settling in your chest. It’s such a small thing, a nothing thing, but still—you’re not used to patients bringing you snacks.
You should tell him it’s unnecessary. That you can’t accept gifts from patients. That this is just a professional relationship, nothing more.
Instead, you pick up the granola bar, turning it over in your fingers. “Are you bribing me,”
“Would it work?”
You huff a quiet laugh, shaking your head. “Go sit down before you start trying to convince me to split a timeshare,”
He holds his hands up in surrender, but as he walks away, you catch him glancing over his shoulder, like he’s reluctant to step too far.
And you tell yourself not to think about what that might mean.
—
The problem with Buck—other than the fact that he’s a patient, other than the fact that you absolutely should not be entertaining any kind of feelings for him—is that he makes it so damn easy to like him.
It’s not just the flirting, the easy confidence, the way he somehow makes hospital visits seem like casual drop-ins at a coffee shop. It’s the way he remembers things. The way he listens.
One night, it’s slow—so slow that you’ve resorted to scrolling mindlessly through your phone when Buck walks in. He stops in front of your desk, crossing his arms.
“So?” he says expectantly.
You glance up. “So… what?”
“Bartender school,” he says, raising an eyebrow. “Did you ever look into it?”
It takes you a second, your brain trying to catch up. Then you remember—a few check-ins ago, in some offhanded late-night conversation, you’d mentioned that you once considered becoming a bartender instead of working hospital reception. That it seemed fun, social, maybe a little unpredictable in the right ways.
You’d barely thought about it since. But Buck had.
You blink at him. “You remembered that?”
“Yeah?” His brows pull together, like it’s obvious. “You sounded like you actually wanted to do it. Figured I’d check in. Y’know, since I’m a regular here and all,”
You stare at him for a second longer than you should, heart stuttering in your chest. Because no one else would’ve remembered something like that—not your coworkers, not the patients who barely glance at you while they sign their paperwork. But Buck does.
And it’s unfair, really, how easily he gets under your skin.
“I haven’t looked into it,” you admit, shaking your head as you turn your attention back to the check-in process. “But if I ever need a backup career, I’ll keep it in mind,”
Buck hums. “I can see it. You, behind the bar, serving up fancy cocktails, listening to people vent about their problems,”
“That’s not too different from this job,” you joke.
“Except way better tips,” he points out, grinning.
You huff a quiet laugh. “True. Maybe I should quit while I’m ahead,”
His smile falters just slightly, like the idea of you not being here, not being the person sitting behind the counter when he walks in, doesn’t sit right with him.
But then he clears his throat, straightening. “Well, before you go quitting, at least make sure I’m fully cleared for duty again. I’d hate to come back and not see you here,”
Your stomach flips, and you have to force yourself to keep your expression neutral.
It’s nothing.
It has to be nothing.
Still, as you watch him walk toward the waiting area, you can’t help but wish, just for a second, that things were different.
—
The almosts start piling up.
The almost-touch when he slides his paperwork across the counter, his fingers brushing yours.
The almost-invitation when he jokes about needing a celebratory drink once his check-ups are over.
The almost-confession when he hesitates at the door some nights, like he wants to say something, like he’s working up the courage to cross a line neither of you have acknowledged.
But nothing ever happens. Because he’s a patient, and you’re a receptionist, and it wouldn’t be professional.
At least, that’s what you keep telling yourself.
—
It starts like any other night.
The waiting room is quiet, the clock ticking steadily toward another late shift, and you’re at your usual spot behind the reception desk, organizing paperwork that doesn’t really need organizing.
And then Buck walks in.
Only this time, he’s not alone.
The automatic doors slide open to reveal a whole group of people trailing in behind him—his team, you realize in an instant. The 118.
You recognise a few of them from the times they’ve come in for minor injuries. There’s Hen, steady and amused, arms crossed as she surveys the room. Chimney, who looks like he’s already in the middle of cracking a joke. Eddie, standing close to Buck, watching him with a knowing smirk. And Maddie—Buck’s sister, who you’ve seen in passing and who has the exact same warm, bright-eyed energy as her brother.
The quiet of the waiting room is shattered immediately.
“Damn, Buck, you weren’t lying,” Chimney says, elbowing him in the ribs as his eyes land on you. “She is cute,”
Your stomach flips, your fingers tightening around the clipboard in your hands. You barely have a second to react before Buck lets out a strangled sound and shoves Chimney away, his ears turning bright red.
“Jesus, Chim, could you not—”
“What? It’s a compliment!” Chimney grins at you, completely unbothered. “You know, Buck talks about you all the time,”
Buck groans. “Oh my god.”
Hen raises an eyebrow, glancing between you and Buck. “Yeah, we’ve been hearing about the ‘cute receptionist’ for months,”
Your cheeks heat instantly.
You risk a glance at Buck, who looks both horrified and like he’s actively considering sprinting out of the hospital.
Eddie, standing beside him, just smirks. “You gonna pretend you don’t have a thing for her, or—”
“I—” Buck splutters, then turns to you, looking like he might actually melt into the floor. “I swear, they’re not usually like this,”
You press your lips together, trying—and failing—to hide your smile. “Somehow, I doubt that,”
The team erupts into laughter, and Buck groans, rubbing a hand down his face.
Maddie, standing at his other side, just tilts her head knowingly. “So, are you gonna ask for her number?”
Your stomach flips again.
The room goes still, the teasing energy of the team turning into something heavier, something expectant.
Your eyes meet Buck’s, and for the first time, there’s no playful flirting, no easy banter. Just him, looking at you like he’s on the edge of something, like he’s been waiting for the right moment.
Buck swallows hard, suddenly looking flustered in a way you’ve never seen before. He rubs the back of his neck, shifting his weight. “Uh, so…” He lets out a breath, glancing down before meeting your eyes again. “I guess this means I won’t be seeing you around anymore,”
You try not to think about the sudden weight in your chest. About how, for months, his visits have been a constant in your routine—something you’ve looked forward to.
You nod, forcing a small smile. “Guess not,”
He hesitates. The team is watching, waiting.
Then, all at once, he blurts out, “Unless… you wanted to exchange numbers?”
The room erupts.
Hen whistles. Chimney claps Buck on the back so hard he almost stumbles forward. Maddie just grins, looking both exasperated and victorious.
Your heart stutters.
You should say no.
You should remind yourself—again—that he’s a patient, that this is unprofessional, that you’ve spent weeks convincing yourself nothing could happen.
But none of those thoughts stop you from picking up a pen, from scribbling your number onto the edge of a notepad, from tearing the paper off and holding it out to him, before promptly pulling it back to your chest when he attempts to take it.
“You can have it when you’re not a patient here anymore,” you say lightly.
Buck stares at the paper like you’ve just handed him the key to something priceless.
Then, slowly, a grin spreads across his face, bright and wide, and he nods steadily. “Is the doctor free now? I can be in and out in five,”
You laugh.
—
As Buck walks out of the hospital, still beaming, Chimney slaps him hard on the back. “Took you long enough,”
Buck lets out a laugh, shaking his head. “Jesus, are you guys ever gonna let this go?”
“Nope,” Hen says, grinning as she falls into step beside him. “Not a chance,”
Maddie just shakes her head, a knowing smile on her face. “Honestly, I’m just relieved. I was starting to think you were actually gonna let this slip away,”
“I wasn’t—” Buck starts, then sighs, running a hand through his hair. “Okay, fine. Maybe I needed a little push,”
Eddie smirks. “A little?”
Buck groans, but he’s still smiling, still feeling the piece of paper in his pocket like a reassurance. Like proof that this isn’t just some passing thing, that it’s the start of something real.
And inside the hospital, behind the reception desk you’ve occupied for so many late nights, you watch him go, heart still beating faster than it should.
You don’t even feel disappointed that Buck’s leaving. Because you know you’ll get to see him again soon.

The MMA 2018 seating arrangement switch is one of those moments that perfectly encapsulates why so many people (including those who are reluctant to see them in a romantic light) find Jungkook and Jimin's dynamic fascinating. Its not just about the visual contrast in Jungkook's expressions but what it suggests about his comfort level and emotional state when Jimin is near.
We also got to see this on this same night:
youtube
The way he glares at them 🤭
Let's get back to the topic.
Before Jimin sits next to Jungkook, he looks composed but somewhat serious or detached. Almost like he's passively existing in the moment. He's physically present but not necessarily expressive.
After Jimin sits next to Jungkook his whole demeanor changes instantly. His posture becomes more relaxed, his facial expressions become livelier and there's an unmissable light in his eyes. Its like a silent but obvious Oh, you're here! moment.
This is more fascinating and interesting because it is a natural, unconscious reaction. The fact that his expression changes so naturally and effortlessly suggests that Jimin genuinely affects his mood.
We all have people who make us feel instantly at ease. The way Jungkook responds to Jimin's presence is so automatic that it feels deeply ingrained. It suggests that Jimin is a personal source of comfort for him. Jimin brings out a side of Jungkook that is warm, free and full of joy.
Sometimes the strongest bonds don't need words. The way his body language adjusts and how his face softens says a lot. Its in the subtle details that you see the real connection.
This isn't an isolated incident. There have been multiple instances where Jungkook's mood or energy seems to brighten around Jimin.
Here's a few instances which shows how Jimin's presence and absence affects Jungkook:
1) Jungkook's "Jimin is here" and "You're here. Finally" when finally they got the opportunity to spend extended time together (I'm sure they spent time together before AYS but that time was too short due to their demanding schedules)

His bright face and excited smile. He was so happy to spend time with Jimin after all those stunts he pulled on his lives to get Jimin to come to him
youtube
2) Jungkook not knowing what to do when Jimin goes to bath in AYS Jeju
youtube
3) Jungkook not even wanting to talk about ms when it was uncertain if their request for companion program will be approved and then there's the same Jungkook talking about their ms in AYS Jeju once their application was approved:
youtube
4) Jungkook's words here:

Why would he say this?
Surely he's been on many trips. Even in 2023 apart from those trips for AYS with Jimin he went on other trips with his friends. So why would he say the trips for AYS were the best?
Because it was with Jimin. That's what made it the best experience for him. Traveling and exploring with his bf.
Its for this same reason we get to see a shift in Jungkook's demeanor after the seat switch in MMA 2018.
Jungkook is naturally close with all the BTS members and he has many other friendships outside of BTS but there's no denying there's something unique and deep about the way he interacts with Jimin.
We have seen how even in group settings Jungkook often ends up near Jimin. Whether its at award shows, interviews or casual moments he naturally gravitates to Jimin.
Jungkook is affectionate with all the members but his level of touchiness and physical comfort with Jimin is distinct. He often leans on Jimin, seeks out hugs or casual touches. He is protective around Jimin, loves to cook for him and doesn't hesitate to show his emotions openly when they're together.
If it weren't for Jimin I don't think we would have gotten to see Jungkook's naturally uninhibited, warm, affectionate and romantic side.

LOVE IN EVERY MARK // MARC GUIU

content: suggestive, insecurities, comfort, fluff
warnings: make out session
words: 712
a/n : sorry i could only provide a make out session, idk how to write smut yet :/
Marc and you are lounging on his couch in his apartment, enjoying the time together in each other's company. You haven't spent much time together lately due to your hectic schedules, so every moment alone is precious.
As you chat and laugh, the tension between you starts to build. You notice the way he looks at you, the way he playfully touches your hand as you're telling a story.
Sensing the energy shift, Marc leans in closer to you. His gaze is intense and filled with desire.
He cups your face in his hands, his eyes locking onto yours. "You know," he whispers, his voice low and husky, "I've been thinking about you all week."
Your heart skips a beat at his words, and you can feel the heat pooling between your thighs. You lean into his touch, not realizing how much you crave him until this very moment.
He closes the distance between you, pulling you into a deep, passionate kiss. His mouth moves against yours hungrily, his tongue exploring every inch. Hands roaming your body, touching every part of you as if trying to memorize your shape.
As the intensity between you and Marc increases, you begin to undress each other, exploring each other's bodies eagerly. The heat between your bodies is intoxicating, and you forget everything except the sensations you're experiencing together.
However, as you move into a position where your stretch marks are more visible, you suddenly become self-conscious. Automatically trying to cover them with your hands, hiding the imperfections you've always been insecure about.
Marc notices what you are trying to do, his eyes softening with understanding. He gently takes your hands away from your body, holding them in his own.
"Hey," he whispers, his voice filled with tenderness. "No tienes que esconderte de mí" ("You don't need to hide from me.")
He leans in and starts placing gentle kisses on your stretch marks, his lips softly touching each imperfection. "You're beautiful," he says, his words sincere. "I love every part of you, stretch marks included."
Tears well up in your eyes as you listen to Marc's heartfelt words. His acceptance and love for your body, imperfections and all, overwhelm you with emotion. You run your fingers through his hair, a silent gesture of gratitude.
Unable to find the words to express how much his words mean to you, you get up and straddle his lap, pulling him into a deep kiss. Your hands caress his face, your lips expressing your appreciation through the intensity of your kiss.
Marc responds eagerly to your kiss, his arms wrapping around you and holding you close. He deepens the kiss, his lips moving against yours with an increasing fervor. The heat between you is almost palpable, the intimacy of the moment heightening your senses.
He breaks the kiss for a moment, his eyes meeting yours. "I mean it," he whispers, his voice husky with emotion. "You're perfect, stretch marks included. Don't ever doubt that."
You manage to find your voice, your eyes searching his. "I love you," you say fiercely, your voice thick with emotion. "I am so, so lucky to have you."
You press your forehead against his, savoring the closeness and the feeling of his body against yours.
Marc grins, unable to resist the opportunity to tease you. He brushes his lips against your ear, his voice low and playful.
"You know," he whispers, his breath warm against your skin, "it's kind of adorable how flustered you get when I compliment you."
You playfully swat at him, a smile tugging at the corners of your mouth. "You always do this," you tease. "You just can't help ruining romantic moments, can you?"
Marc laughs, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "What can I say? I can't resist a good chance to mess with you."
He pulls you closer, his hands resting on your hips. "But seriously," he adds, his voice softening, "I meant every word I said. You're beautiful, stretch marks and all."
The tension between you eased and replaced with a comfortable intimacy. The insecurities and doubts that had come up earlier are no longer a worry, as Marc's words and actions have reassured you of his love and acceptance. Making you feel like the luckiest girl on earth.

Hospitals and Airports are the closest modernity can come to reaching the Divine
Have you noticed how some places seem immune to time and social conventions. Like airports, those monoliths of now. Harsh lights burning and souls criss-crossing, tongues melting together into a writhing throng of humanity, a steaming cesspit of consciousness. Steeped in camaraderie yet drenched in isolation. The electric blue arrivals sign glares with neon brightness at 3am, a beacon that signals the end of the road.
Here comes a family of 4 on their way home, crossing through automatic doors into the balmy drizzle of a British night, carrying their loot of straw hats and cheap pendants, tan lines and peeling red lobster skin. A girl no older than 5 limps after her parents and older brother. She lugs her bright pink unicorn behind her and hugs the hood of lilac pyjamas close, rubs the sleep out of her eyes whilst her mother shouts at her to hurry. Soon she’ll tuck herself into bed, in the attic of their ordinary red brick London row house, and she’ll watch the sun peak over the trees in the back garden for the first time in her life. It will become a core memory she will think fondly back on for years to come.
By the first class lounge they hurried past, a man in an impeccable suit (Sheep’s wool, the finest money can buy. The grey colour of the Thames on an early morning) paces back and forth restlessly, briefcase in hand, phone in another. Gold amber eyes like a hawk, close cropped black hair and neatly trimmed beard, square pocket matching the deep tan of his shoes (authentic leather). He is barking orders to someone in Arabic, closing deals, building empires. A bloodied napkin he used to stop a nosebleed earlier falls out of his pocket and winks up at the scaffolding exposed ceiling, high and arching like the dome of a cathedral. He’ll make the sale, then visit the airport bathroom again before hailing a cab to the closest 5 star. In the morning, the maid who took the job to send money to her ailing mother in the Philippines will find his cold stiff body and scream. She’ll call the police and be taken in for questioning. She never signed up for this.
At the hospital coffee shop – two streets and half a lifetime away - a 4th year med students sips on a cortado like her life depends on it. Caffeine surges through her veins, bracing her for the day ahead. Unbelievable how exhausting trying to take up as little space as possible can be. She hates the spiel, it’s the same every time. A new dawn, a new face, a new team. The introductions, the smiling, the grovelling, the headache. She’s 5ft flat with bright orange hair, aspirations for Neurosurgery and a bright pink notebook, so why would they take her seriously.
It’s 8:30, and she’s scheduled for 9am clinic, so she has time for a hurried breakfast today. (Eating any earlier makes her gag). Small mercies. The off-red stained scrubs she nicked from the theatre changing rooms cling to her like a second skin preparing to moult. She squirms in them, the comfort undeniable. They make her feel like she belongs. They make her feel like an imposter.
Her table – she comes here so often; she thinks of it as hers - sits right by large windows overlooking the main entrance and staircase. She sees it all from here, her quiet unassuming throne. The doctors and nurses, physios and pharmacists. Rushing rushing, running, stressing. Wishing, hoping, waiting, waiting, waiting. For the shift to end, for the time for bed. For this rotation to change, for the exam to pass. We’ll go on that holiday next month, next year. When money isn’t tight, when things are more settled. Before they know it they’ve wished their lives away.
Their patients understand, all too well and all too late. The same father with the IV drip and the metal stand comes down here every morning to see his daughters. They run up to him, he holds them close and beams. But his grip is getting weaker, smile is getting thinner. He doesn’t answer when they ask when he’s coming home. It’s funny what we can’t hear when we’re too busy wearing stethoscopes. Next month she (I) will be stationed on the Psych ward. We’ll have to do it all again, but maybe they’ll hear me this time. Maybe it’ll get easier.
Between them all and among them, if you squint and unfocus your eyes during one of those ungodly hours at the Starbacks across from Boots and WHSmith, leaning against a grey white pillar you might see him.
He is the spectre that haunts airport lounges and waiting rooms alike, the handsome stranger with the black snapback and the beats headphones and the khaki shorts. The one who lives out of a rucksack and wears a travel pillow like a crown. With the kind eyes and crows feet, and honey chestnut curls. He is that boy from your high school everyone liked, with a kind word for everyone; the one with a charmers smile and the charisma to bullshit his way through anything. The one who – when pressed for future plans, would laugh and shake his head, looking down bashfully. “I just want to travel for now, see where it takes me. I want to see the world”, he’d say, eyes twinkling with the possibilities. On someone else, the words would likely merit a telling off, they’d be seen as the paper thin excuse to fuck around and get high. But he seemed so genuine, and his teeth were such a dazzling shade of brilliant white when he smiled, even the strictest careers advisers couldn’t resist.
He lives in those moments, the liminal fabric between worlds that’s so hard to put your finger on. Blink and you’ll miss him in the old alleys of Rome, the spark of his cigarette lighter blending amongst the city lights.
You’ll find him among the most remote hiking trails of the Peloponnese, laughing with local shepherds and German tourists alike, sitting on jutting rocky cliffs and admiring the blue Mediterranean below. If you really pay attention, you’ll see his staff isn’t like the others. Something suspiciously like a pair of snake slithers up and down. You could swear you heard them whispering just now, but when you look again it’s just a wooden stick.
He is the patron of us wanderers and travellers, those of us with movement in our blood and restlessness in our hearts. The ones who beget the will of changing winds and shifting tides. The ones who can’t allow themselves to sit still, lest the dust settle and the coffee get cold. The mortifying ordeal of being seen and known. Or the ones that carry a hearth with them, in the bottom of a suitcase, in the heart of a trailer. The ones who move and weave through the Earth not because they are running but because they are coming home. He dances and jokes with the kids amongst campfires, always welcome, always a pleasure. And if he helps them pick the odd lock, swearing solemnly to secrecy, who are we to judge.
His bronze skin smells of cinnamon and nutmeg, vanilla and cedar and a thousand other spices. He reeks of incense and market stalls, moles and freckles tell the story of trading routes and old silk roads, of cotton shawls from Alexandria and silk from Pekking. His fingers and eyes twinkle with the good-natured mischief of petty thieves and sleight-of-hand magicians, tricksters and circus performers. He picks apples from behind ears, presents jewel necklaces to his lovers.
She sees him now, amongst the patients. He helps an old lady up the steps, pulls a balloon out of his back pocket to the delight of a sick child. She locks eyes with him and they nod at one another She has been seen now, and known. Perhaps she’ll find him again one day, if either stop running.

i've been thinking a lot about nohecharei recently, so here are some thoughts:
maia's nohecharei are all older than him, which means that unless he dies by unnatural means, he's probably going to have to replace them at one point during his reign. the mazei would probably be able to keep working for longer given they're the guardians of mind and we don't know how much of a physical toll (if any) maz has on the body, but the soldiers' job is almost definitely going to be more physically demanding, and as they get older their reflexes are going to start slowing down, which would put the emperor's safety at risk. and since the soldier and maza work as a pair, it wouldn't make sense to only replace one of them when the maza will probably have to be replaced in 5 or 10 years anyways, so they'll likely retire at the same time, so that the new pair can train and grow together from the beginning
most emperors don't come to the throne as young as maia did. nemolis was in his 30/40s when he passed, and if he had survived to take the throne, his nohecharei would probably have been in their early twenties. having the nohecharei be younger than the emperor gives them more working years with him, and lessens the likelyhood of having to replace them later in the emperor's reign.
if the nohecharei fail in their duty to their emperor, they must kill themselves at the feet of his corpse. most likely, this doesn't apply if he dies of old age or illness. so that begs the question: what happens to nohecharei who outlived their emperor? do they get to retire? do they get a pension?
what requirements do you have to meet before you earn the right to be buried with your emperor? obviously if a nohecharis is killed while doing their job, they automatically earn that right. but what if they had sustained an injury that meant they could not continue to serve as a nohecharis and had to retire? or what if you're a younger pair of nohecharei who are expected to outlive your emperor? would you still be buried next to him at the time of your death if you had only been serving him for a year?
moving on from the topic of retiring - 2 pairs of nohecharei is just NOT sustainable when it comes to providing around the clock protection to the emperor. what if one of them has an injury that puts them out for more than a couple of days? in fact, beshelar should probably have been on leave for at least a week after tethimar's attempt on maia's life. do they get a regular soldier to stand in during that time? on top of that, how long are their shifts? what's the nohecharei's sleeping schedules like?
3 pairs of noheharei would make more sense than 2. that way if one pair is out of commission, the other 2 pairs could still make it work between them until the third pair can come back to work. also, having three 8-hour shifts per day would mean that all the nohecharei would be better rested and more alert for their shifts, while also having a little bit of extra time (where they're not sleeping) to have something of a personal life. we know the adremaza had a tough time finding a replacement for dazhis because they'd already lost so many mazei, and that's the only reason he even considered kiru for the position, so that could serve as a good reason for why maia only has 2 pairs. but i like to headcanon that maybe a year or two into maia's reign, once things have settled down a lot and become calmer, maybe the adremaza is able to find a volunteer to fill the position for third nohecharis (the soldier position wouldn't be as difficult to fill)
