aouaah she deserved so much better man. she went THROUGH IT!!!! also her model is probably my favorite human model in the game, it amazes me how her and knack 2 lucas come from the same game.

her and lucas were such a cool duo in the beginning of the game,,,,, i think the way their characters interact (or rather could've interacted if i wrote knack lmao) is really interesting and kinda tragic, if that makes sense? the way they interacted in the beginning of the game vs the end where they talk more like acquaintances or strangers is soooo fjduagajwgsysbahaa starts gnawing the bars of my enclosure. tldr they're fucking DOOMED BY THE NARRATIVE. THEIR FRIENDSHIP WAS SO DOOMED and i love that. it makes their interactions in the beginning so bittersweet when playing for a second time

what BASICALLY happened here Lore dump time During the fight in the deadlands, Victim took the mercenaries to finally kill alan. But during it Victim was WAY too aware of the fact that alan isnt fighting back and was avoiding hurting them. WHICH HE HATED bc now the omega is acting like a saint when HE wasnt spared. So he started fucking lashing out screaming (and LOCUSTS ARE LOUD!!) But stops when an orange spotlight shone behind him. Even though he can see alan in front of him. TURNS OUT he was loud. So loud that the Juvie (aka omega b) wandered over to alan's territory to see the noisy little thing, and DESPITE everything. Victim is still that scared little bug deep down so get picked up by the juvie idiot. Though alan, bc now he KNOWS how precious victim is, doesnt want him to get hurt. so he just RUSHED the juvie forcing it to drop its toy. He had to redirect the attention onto HIM with challenging the omega to a fight. And fun fact about those. an omega would NEVER challenge another if it knew it was going to lose. But he did anyways

Name one scene, trope, or concept you'd really like to see in a hypothetical third game of KNACK.

Why not 3 for 3~?

Scene: I want a scene with Knack alone, contemplating his existence and purpose. We've gotten scenes of Knack on his own, even with perfect opportunities to have him think aloud to himself, but >:P nothing. I want him to think about himself, why he's doing the things he's doing, what he wants, what he's fighting for (in the context of the current narrative and overall trilogy as well). I just want more knacktent (Knack content)

Trope: I want Knack to have to team up with the enemy. I dunno if that trope has a snappy name or not lol. Either they need to get out of a mutually undesirable situation together, or it's a long form temporary truce. Knack fighting with goblins or else would be pretty fun to see and play through. Also he could use cool tech maybe~

Concept: okay this a just a real personal desire of mine but I really want to see some form of canonization for, don't know what to call them, the other Knack boys. Like Robo Knack and Player 2 blue Knack (I call him Knick :3c). I think it'd be pretty awesome if they could be implemented into the world in a organic way as well as have them be playable or something. I love Knack but I love having multiple playable characters too (even if they play the same). Hell I'd enjoy playing as Lucas too, hookshooting everywhere, maybe a stealth mission for him, a mech... I guess more playable characters is the concept hehe

Everyone saying the script was underwhelming like no you don’t understand. I see the vision. Ava’s bed head, the clothes they wear to sleep, the posters on the wall, the books on their shelves, the knick knacks ava collects and keeps on the nightstand, bea watching Ava softly before the alarm goes off, her saying ‘ass’ and ‘craphole’ in that English accent, staying up in bed with Ava until the alarm goes off, cooking Ava breakfast, indulging Ava’s nonsense questions, ‘we’ll see’ OK FLIRT. Chanel’s door is cracked and the light is still on and Ava really needs a distraction.

So she crosses over and knocks softly. “You up?”

“Oh my god, is this an Ava Silva booty call?”

Ava laughs, “was mostly just hoping for a cuddle session.”

She hears the sound of a book closing, remembering that Chanel has been studying for possibly going back to school at some point. “Come on in, my brain is fried anyway.”

Ava steps through and takes in Chanel’s room, overflowing with clothes that are scattered all over - a dresser with so many knick-knacks and jewelry all over it it feels like a retail shop of some kind. Chanel swears she has a system and knows where everything is - Ava and JC are convinced she just doesn’t care.

“You’re home early?”

“Had a client who took me across town, Superion gave me the rest of the night off after it.”

Chanel gives her a once over, sitting up on her bed. “All good?”

Ava nods, appreciating the check-in. “Yeah it was fine, he was sweet, but it got too deep for him I think.”

“Ah, well you are easy to get attached to,” Chanel scoots back to the headboard and opens her arms for Ava to slide in.

2024 u18 Women's Worlds Information

What: The biggest junior tournament for women's hockey, featuring the top players from 8 of the best IIHF countries

When: January 6th to January 14th

Full schedule available here (it will even convert to your time!) Since this takes place in Switzerland, most of these games will be early morning for North American's, but there's a few afternoon starts.

Where: Zug, Switzerland

Where to watch: The following will host at least some of the games. Sadly a lot are only showing games in their country and medal games (for example, in the round robin, TSN and NHL Network are only showing USA, Canada, and Slovakia.) 2023 Finish: 7th place

What to expect: Switzerland has had a rough few years in the tournament, having had to play to avoid relegation the last two years. If they can stay out of the relegation game

Players to watch: Ivana Wey had 4 assists last world juniors, and is currently playing on a beyond stacked SWHL B team where she's seen a lot of ice time and scored a lot of goals. 15 year old Norina Müller is one of the youngest forwards on the roster, and has seen some time in a SWHL A team this year, which is impressive experience especially at her age.

USA

2023 finish: 3rd place/Bronze

What to expect: USA was upset by Sweden in last years semifinals, and is hoping to make it back to the medal game and upset the favorites and their rivals in Canada

Players to watch: Captain Maggie Scannell is in this tournament for a third time and was one of the best players last year, with 8 points in 5 games. 17 year old Boston College commit Ava Thomas is one of the many excited prospects coming out of the Philadelphia Jr Flyers program in recent year. She has dominated in many national tournaments before with speed that she utilizes well, and is a must watch as she makes her intentional debut.

Sweden

2023 Finish: silver

What to expect: Last year, Sweden had a huge victory over the USA to make the finals only to experience a disappointing 10-0 finish. This year, they will want revenge and a gold medal, maintaining a lot of the same group.

Players to watch: Hilda Svensson was the top scorer on the team and she has only gotten better, as one of the top scorers on SDHL team HV71. Isabelle Leijonhielm is playing in this tournament for the third time, and has taken a pretty big step at the SDHL level this year despite being on a struggling team and has a knack for getting shots through traffic

What to expect: Hope to continue to build on last year, but unlikely to move much in the standings, and show more depth

Players to watch: If you don't already know about Nela Lopusanova, you should look her up and instantly see what a sensation she is. Won best player of the tournament last year after scoring 9 goals and 3 assists in 5 games including a michigan goal, and has spent the past year at one of the best prep schools in north america. Her teammate, Ema Tothova, has also spend the past year getting better, and is one of the top scorers in the EWHL. The two will almost certainly be linemates and a must watch for this tournament

Canada

Last year: First/Gold

What to expect: Last year, Canada steamrolled everyone to victory, and much of the same roster is back and expecting to do it again. People have named this as one of the best u18 rosters we have seen.

Players to watch: Caitlin Kraemer had 10 goals last tournament, so eyes will be on her to repeat that great performance. Defender Chloe Primerano will be making her exciting u18 worlds debut after dominating the CSSHL U22 by having one of the best season ever recorded and becoming the highest scoring defender of all time in the league in just 45 games

Germany

Last year: Was in u18 Division I group A and was promoted!

What to expect: Germany will mainly be trying to avoid relegation and stay in the top division, a lot of the key player that helped with promotion have aged out sadly

Players to watch: Anastasia Gruß was one of the top scorers last tourament with 5 points in 5 games. Emilija Birka and Mathilda Heine will be two of the youngest playres at this tournament at only 14 year old, so it will be interesting to see how they impact the roster

Finland

Last year: Fourth Place

What to expect; This is a team that wants to medal, and has more depth than teams like Switzerland or Slovakia, but may not have the star power to fully compete for a medal. Sanni Vanhanen aging out is a huge loss, and don't have some of the elite goaltender prospects to make up for that like they have in the past. That said, it's still Finland, and there are many players poised to break out. Such as the following!

Players to watch: Emma Ekoluoma has been great both in the Finnish top League (naisten liiga) as well as in international competition this year. Nelly Anderson is a 16 year old defender who made major steps this year and was impactful as she played more games in Naisten Liiga, and I'd expect her to get some big minutes

Expectations: Medal! There's a lot of reason to believe this group can take a big step this year as Czechia has reaped the rewards of investing in their women's program the past few seasons

Players to watch: Adéla Šapovalivová was the top scorer for Czechia last year, and this year she enters as one of the top scorers in the SDHL where she plays against many senior level players. Same for Tereza Plosová, a university of minnesota commit who has already been a consistent producer in the SDHL and played on the Czech senior team. Goaltender Daniela Nováková looked good in an extremely small sample size at last years tournament, so we will see if she can build on that

Who's your favorite character in the Knack games?

Probably also Knack. But lately I'm looking to rotate Ava in my mind, instead.

To be honest, I've been mentally chewing on Knack for so long, I wonder if he's starting to lose his flavor. I've just been thinking about KNACK, especially Knack, 24/7 for almost a year now. Even while I'm asleep (though I don't remember much of that). Whoa.

I think I got stuck on a single aspect of his character, and I worry I'll be saying the same thing over and over in my stories.

Not sure why I chose Ava to put under the microscope next; I just think she's cute. I want to put her in different outfits and pick at her brain.

I have a huge backlog of things to draw. This will be fun!

The Teacher Becomes the Student

one of the many things that i love about Avatrice is Bea’s mentoring of Ava, specifically her ability to change tactics mid-training and how that change contributed to them connecting on an emotional level.

for instance, Beatrice might seem a bit cold or detached sometimes…

…but of course it’s going to come off that way compared to Ava’s upbeat and happy go-lucky personality.

they’re polar opposites in terms of their outward expression. but what i appreciate about Beatrice as a mentor is that, because Ava is so much different from her, Bea constantly works to find new and fresh ways to mentor her throughout their journey.

one of the key moments is when Beatrice reads the story about the lesbian nun to Ava. Bea obviously knows what the story is about when she tells it, including its double relevance; it’s a lesson for Ava, sure, but this breakthrough moment was more about Beatrice. you can see she’s nervous when she reveals to Ava that the warrior nun in the story is a lesbian. but i don’t think Bea’s voice shakes because she’s nervous about telling Ava; i think she’s more nervous about admitting it to herself.

Beatrice speaking her truth aloud and then pushing forward by telling Ava about her struggles is her breaking through her own personal pain.

after wiping her tears away, Beatrice tells Ava that now it’s her turn. i’m sure Beatrice caught on that Ava has a knack for running away from scary situations, so when Beatrice has a chance to mentor Ava, instead of yelling at her or scaring her (like Lilith and Mother Superion), Beatrice opens up about herself in an attempt to connect with Ava. all Ava wants is connection, something Beatrice picks up on very early, but Beatrice isn’t going to ask Ava to do something that she herself is unable to do.

as a mentor, not only is Beatrice leading by example, but she is connecting with Ava by meeting her halfway and allowing herself to open up as a way to show Ava that they’re in this together.

and when Bea opens up, Ava dives in, as only Ava can: heart first.

from the very first time they meet to the very last moment, Ava slowly peels back Bea’s many layers and then just tears them to shreds. the thing is, despite her bluntness and cool demeanor, Beatrice strikes me as a very kindhearted and compassionate person. i imagine she remembers birthdays and loves kids and volunteers at homeless shelters. like top tier saint. but i feel like it’s all very understated and composed. “contained,” like that woman, who was flirting with Bea, said. but Ava makes it hard for Bea to stay contained. from swapping puns, to cheek kisses, to dancing drunk in a Swiss bar, Ava totally breaks Bea wide open.

and in letting Ava in, Bea goes from sacrificing her life because of shame, to living her life because of love.

Lilith in N7 armor, though…

It may or may not surprise you to know that I actually have a whole mass effect au planned out in my head. I just…. Yeah. Ava Silva and the weight of the world on her shoulders. Ava Silva giving exclusive sponsorship to every single tech and weapons shop on the Citadel. Ava Silva with her aquarium and her pet hamster and a shadow longer than her life.

Ava Silva, waking up to fire in the sky above Mindoir. Ships blotting out the sky and the trees a smear of sound and heat and light outside her window. It’s enough to make them burst inward, waking her in time to save her life.

Boots in the hall of their little house and her mother running inside the room, pushing the dresser she made out of this planet up against the door they brought with them from the stars. Ava doesn’t know anything but this place – the grass crunchy in winter and the flowers in spring and the leaves in autumn and all the sunsets in summer.

Her mother has old scars on her hands and an old rifle she keeps under her bed and an old set of armour she wears now. It’s broken open across her chest and the gauntlets are cracked, falling onto the wood floor as she looks for Ava, finds her by the window in a halo of broken glass.

It’s weird, too see her smiling and bleeding at the same time.

There’s a second red heart on her chest, and when she speaks she leaves blood spatter on Ava’s forearms. Clutches at her so tightly that Ava is certain she could never let her go, but then she’s smoothing Ava’s hair off her face, tucking strands behind her ear.

She carries Ava to the window – she’s nine, too big for carrying and she squirms but her mother’s grip is iron. The grass is still wet from overnight rain, somehow, even backlit as they both are by fire. The shape of tall trees in her mother’s eyes which are just the same colour as hers. Brown like earth.

The door to Ava’s bedroom splinters and the last thing Ava hears as she’s pushed onto her back – out of sight and out of reach – is her mother telling her to run. This she knows how to do, running laps around the track at school while the other kids are still stretching out their legs. She knows how to do it alone in the woods around their house or down toward the lake, pretending to chase birds or her own shadow.

Ava, running and always, forever after this, running. Away from town, from home, with an old Alliance beacon in her hand, blinking like a red eye against her palm.

They’ll find you, she’d whispered, pressing it wet into Ava’s small hand, and they did.

When the Alliance come they find Ava. Just her. They ask her questions but all she can tell them about is fire, and sitting in the old cabin by the lake, underneath the floorboards with bugs the size of her hands crawling in the dirt around her. Staring at the beacon until she slept again. Woke again. Slept again.

Ten years later she’s on Akuze and everyone she trained with is dead around her. She’s fresh out of basic training and her armour belonged to someone else before her, ill-fitting at the shoulders and the hips. Her greaves rattle when she walks, and everyone teases her about it and then she’s running past pieces of them.

The creature responsible bleeds so much when it dies, and its insides burn where they touch Ava’s skin. When they find her, she’s carrying a fistful of dog tags, spends a week in a medi-gel bath regrowing a fifth of her skin. They recruit her straight into the N7 program, and some nights, sitting in various drop-ships eating expired ration bars, or gunning down mercs, she wonders if her mother would recognise her anymore. They were supposed to be farmers.

Then Eden Prime, the beacon and a Turian called Adriel who wants to bring about the end of the world. She meets an odd archaeologist on a lonely dig site and her name is Beatrice. A sniper on the Citadel called Shannon, who likes to wear blue. Their pilot, Mary, has a knack for pissing everyone off and a soft spot for Ava.

She sits in the mess late at night, when the ship’s circadian lights make everything dim and secret, drinking coffee with too much creamer and listening to Beatrice talk about the Protheans.

It's the wrong time to fall in love.

They win, eventually, and Ava is quietly side-lined for saying too much, too loudly about the Reapers, who want to come down from the sky and burn everything, like the slavers burned her home once upon a time.

And then she dies.

Her body, burned by the mouth of a planet upon re-entry, finds its way into the hands of a shadow organisation called Cerberus, who call her Lazarus and bring her back from the dead. She wakes up full of hairline fractures, her face trying to break open, bleeding red light like her once-small fingers, like running away again and waking up to flashlights, strange voices. Everything about life is circular.

She wakes in the hands of a girl with designer blood and bones not quite as handmade as Ava’s, but close. Her name is Lilith, and the first thing she tells Ava is that the galaxy hasn’t run out of ways to use her just yet.

Alle wundern sich, warum Io ohne Koffer angereist ist. Ihre Ausrede: "Ist am Flughafen verloren gegangen."

Io und Leon halten Händchen, doch dann kommt Simon. Ist da jemand eifersüchtig?

Franzi hat ihren ersten Auftritt. Sie war eigentlich als Hauptrolle geplant, aber ihre Darstellerin konnte aufgrund gesundheitlicher Probleme dann doch nicht in dem Umfang spielen, weshalb sie zur Nebendarstellerin umgeschrieben wurde. Laut Schloss Einstein Wiki ist ihre Darstellerin übrigens in meinem Alter. Ihr habt es gehört Leute: Auch mit 24/25 hat man anscheinend noch Chancen beim Schloss Einstein Casting!

Franzi macht übrigens ein Praktikum als Schulsozialarbeiterin.

Wir erfahren, warum Io mit leichtem Gepäck angereist ist: Sie will nach England. Ach ja, der Schloss Einstein Klassiker!

Io hat bisher noch niemandem erzählt, dass sie nach England geht. Nicht mal Leon. Auf dem Dach will sie es ihm endlich sagen, doch dann kommt Emilia und will, dass sie ihr Projekt nochmal vorstellen, weil gerade eine Klasse aus Weimar zu Besuch im Share Space ist.

Wir unterbrechen ihre Hetero-Gefühlsduselei für die Schatzsuche, nach der niemand gefragt hat. Maxi und Karl sind zurück im Wrestling Ring. Maxi soll Toni Tornado ablenken, während Karl heimlich nach Beweisen sucht. Die Pfefferkörner fürchten um ihre Jobs!

Chiara macht immer noch komische Räucherstäbchen-Rituale mit Elly und Massuda. Astro-TV hat angerufen, sie würden sie gerne sofort einstellen! Elly dagegen hat keinen Bock mehr darauf und haut ab.

Karl sucht nach Toni Tornados Spint, was super einfach ist, denn er hat einen Sticker mit einer Katze und einer Gitarre drauf. Versteht ihr? Weil er Katzenvideos mag und Gitarre spielt!

Weil der Spint natürlich abgeschlossen ist, holt sich Karl eine Büroklammer und guckt ohne Kopfhörer ein "Wie knacke ich ein Schloss mit einer Büroklammer" Video an.

Okay, Karl ist jetzt doch schlauer geworden, er hat jetzt Airpods drin.

Und wie sich herausstellt muss er das Schloss auch gar nicht knacken, der Spint geht nämlich schon auf, wenn man einfach dagegen schlägt. Und natürlich bewahrt Toni Hoppe darin auch die super geheime Schatzkarte auf, die Karl erstmal abfotografiert.

Nachdem wir letzte Folge Noah/Ava Deep Talk hatten, kommt jetzt Io/Franzi Deep Talk. Io weiß einfach nicht, was sie machen sollen: Alle haben sich so gefreut, dass sie endlich wieder da ist. Außerdem will sie mit Leon Schluss machen damit er endlich mit seiner großen Liebe Simon zusammen sein kann.

Die ganze Lernerei hat sich gelohnt: Massuda hat eine gute Note in ihrem Geschichtstest geschrieben. Elly hat dagegen nur 5 Punkte.

Leon erfährt schließlich von Herrn Zech, dass Io das Einstein verlassen wird. Und nächste Folge ist es dann aus und vorbei zwischen ihnen und er kann endlich mit Simon zusammenkommen.

A Couple of Thoughts

Ava freezes a lot and Jack is Ava's personal space heater. She can often be found snuggled under his shirt.

Ava has a knack for cutting hair and makes sure Jack's never looks crusty again.

Jack will read and comment on whatever books Ava is reading at the time, he often will ruin the ending for her.

Jack and Ava go on a lot of ice cream dates. Their goal is to try all of them in the Newark/JC/Hoboken area. They aren't afraid to travel just for good ice cream.

Ava can't cook to save her life. Jack always makes extra food just for her.
