"No, Maeve, you stay with your father. Can you please - ", Maeryn huffed, as she tried to remove her daughter from the hem of her dress, while wrestling herself out of the door, eyes darting to her husband, who was laughing at the scene, a sausage in hand, which he proceeded to wave at the little girl like she was a dog. "Aedion, she is human, not canine, feed her properly", she called out, before the door closed and she took a deep breath to compose herself, before hurrying down the corridor. Mornings in her chambers were eventful, to say the least, because two little children were a temperamental mixture at times. Luckily her boy had been asleep still, so only little Maeve had been up to no good, clinging to her mama and insisting to go to work with her. That was, however, not an option. Though she sometimes took her little ones along, she never did it when meeting with the younger princess. Helaena was a delicate girl, easily upset by noises or touch, so having children around her was not advisable. Maeryn already worried how she would fair with her own.

It was a strange coincidence that she was now one of only two remaining midwives at court, but she was grateful for the opportunity. Had her predecessor not died of a fever a few months prior, she would have still been an apprentice, but tragedy had opened an opportunity for her and the man who had sired her made sure she would get the position. It still felt strange to interact with the royal family, but she was getting used to it. She was also getting used to finding ways to handle the princess and making sure that she was comfortable, even though Maeryn would have loved to find strong words for that horrible brat of a husband she had. Though her own life had been full of hardships, at least she had been able to marry someone she loved and was able to provide for her family now. Being royalty was not always the epitome of happiness.

Knocking gently on the door to the young girl's chambers, Maeryn waited until she was called inside before entering. She bowed in greeting, dipping her head slightly, before smiling at Helaena. "Good morning, princess. I have come to see how you are faring. It has been a few days and I thought it would be time to catch up. How have you been doing?" Naturally, the poor girl had been struggling with this pregnancy, given how young she was. It was never advisable to have a boy sleep with a maiden so young, let alone put a child in her. Queen Aemma should have been a warning to them all, but apparently they had learned nothing. Helaena's body was still growing and if Maeryn was being honest, she was surprised it supported a pregnancy at all. But it was her duty to care for the girl as best as she could and most of all, to keep her opinions to herself.

Upgrading the 'polaroid magnet' idea of 2019 for 2023's Xmas card trades, these ones are made from wood and use actual magnets! Luxurious! |D All the poses are also referenced from actual party photos i've taken of other people, to add to the candid vibe lol.

The dreamcatcher is kind of a gag gift (yes the craft project i reffed here) for some friends. Since they don't have the ability to fight their nightmares i have offered to [try and] do it for them XD

Made from: Wooden craft polaroid (plus some backing MDF pieces), magnet, misc decorating items (glitter, wooden shapes, gel pens, paint etc). The dreamcatcher is just a storebought one with laminated paper mes wired to it
