I want to study a bfa in sweden next year and the program I'll apply to has a very low acceptance rate.

my plan was to apply to my first option, which doesn't require me to take any english test, and if i don't get in stay in my home country for another year studying fine arts and then apply again.

however today I was discussing plans for the future with an acquaintance and he told me he was going to go overseas months before knowing if he had gotten accepted in his program, to get a job and get used to the change before having to study and he recommended me to do that as well. "if you don't get in you can earn money and explore during that first year and then apply again" he has a point because also, if i learn swedish i will have more options, and if i have a year to prepare the ielts test that'll also be of a lot help, plus i would he in malmö, which is very close to berlin and copenhagen, both places with great universities to study fine arts and i could visit the campus and all.

anyways, i also thought that if I don't get in and stay in my hometown studying fine arts (bc unis here don't ask me for a portfolio but for tests about maths, spanish and history and have a really higher acceptance rate) i could get better and have more chances to get accepted when i apply to malmö art academy again.

this turned out rather long but i truly don't know what to do! i want to travel and know new places so badly and this fine arts program in malmö looks just so amazing but I'm also very scared of going overseas by myself.

What is a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree?

my grad piece for my BFA in sculpting, the result of years of art making, researching familial and cultural history, and writing about my work and that of artist’s that influence me.

this piece references histories of trade with red river carts and the commodification and consumption of identity. it explores the ways in which Métis material culture uses louis riel in juxtaposition of the red and white kitsch that paints the so-called-canadian landscape. using our material culture as a tool of survivance to oppose mechanisms of colonialism that serve to drown it out in a sea of hudson’s bay company stripes and red with the red and white maple leaf’s stamp of approval.

is anyone else like. insanely hyped to go back to college just bc u missed ur college friends so much. like idk maybe it's bc i live 6 hours away from everyone else (i go to school 4 states away from home) but RAHHH IVE MISSED THEM SO MUCH. and now you're telling me i get to go set up a fun room with two of my closest friends and a hamster and two frogs and do art all the time and learn things i actually am interested in and be in one of the best twins i've ever been to for the next 9 months and im NOT supposed to be excited??? like yeah there are downsides but COME ON PEOPLE
