What are your thoughts on the design for the Switch 2?
I mean - it still plays Switch 1 games and that’s literally the only thing that matters to me :))
In all seriousness, it’s just a hardware upgrade IMO and that’s all it needed to be. The switch is almost perfect already - as long as the 2 can fix the long-term reliability issues with the controllers and keep playing my games then I’m perfectly happy with it.

I tell you what would impress me about the backwards compatibility capabilities of the Nintendo Switch 2.
If they somehow made Nintendo GameCube games compatible because I still have them and they were the pride and joy of my childhood as far as gaming goes.
Especially ‘The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess’.
If I could return to those games on the Nintendo Switch 2, I’d be very happy and I’d buy this thing on day one.
Just for any Nintendo production people listening in and checking the social media feeds for reactions.
That’s what I want. That’s what will get you my money.
Let me play ‘Twilight Princess’ along with other iconic GameCube games. Especially that Zelda collection that included ‘Wind Waker’, ‘Ocarina Of Time’, ‘Majoras Mask’ and the original Legend Of Zelda & Legend Of Zelda 2. Do that for me and I’ll buy this thing day one.

I went to the secondhand store and was once again reminded of why I hate modern consoles.
Because the PS2 and PS3 were backwards compatible. You could play a PS1 game on the 2 or the 3.
Then PS4 came along and suddenly 'we can't do that'.
They could've if they'd wanted to, but they got money hungry.

Types of console backwards-compatibility
Console B is essentially an updated form of Console A. This usually guarantees close to 100% compatibility, but boxes in the capabilities of Console B.
ColecoVision with Atari 2600 (unauthorized)
Atari XEGS with Atari's previous 8-bit computers
Atari 7800 with Atari 2600
GameGear with Master System
SuperGrafx with PC Engine
GameBoy Color with GameBoy Classic
DS with GameBoy Advance
Wii with GameCube
Wii U with Wii
3DS with DS (i)
Console B is a completely different system than Console A but has Console A's hardware onboard, making it a sort of hybrid system. This generally gets the job done as far as backwards-compatibility is concerned, but requires more hardware, and may not be worth it if interest in Console A wanes or its own patrons are not interested in what Console B has to offer.
APF Imagination Machine with the APF MP-1000
Commodore 128 with Commodore 64
Genesis with Master System
Early PS2 units with PS1
GameBoy Advance with GameBoy (Color)
Early PS3 units with PS2
Console B has an emulation-based compatibility layer with Console A. This has the least reliable backwards compatibility and is done almost entirely in the name of brand synergy.
Early OS X with Classic Mac OS
Windows NT 3.1-XP with MS-DOS
Later PS2 units with PS1
Xbox 360 with original Xbox
PS3 with PS1 (and later models with PS2)
PS5 with PS4
Xbox One with Xbox 360 and original Xbox
Xbox Series X with previous Xbox consoles

I have no interest in any of these games so the ones in this video that don’t run so well on the Nintendo Switch 2 are not an issue for me. But it’s great that most, if not all of the last generation games are compatible on the Switch 2 and may even run better on it out of the box.
Makes me hopeful for the N64 and GameCube games they’ll release on that online game emulator they have.
I’m still hoping they’ll release Twilight Princess on it.🤞

Backwards Compatibility Rant
(The most boomer complaint I have)
I have YangYang run around in circles in Wuthering Waves while I yap about the good old days.
Where you got a lot more value out of your game console purchases, and that being why I'm mainly a PC gamer now. I love that I can still play Recettear 14 years later on my latest PC! However, there are so many wonderful ps2 games that are hard to play now because they don't work on the new Playstations.
Even older games on PC-88 and Tandy are even harder to access. The game i played most was Zeliard. Game preservation just keeps going downhill!

If Phil Spencer "Really" Wants to Keep Digital Xbox 360 Titles Alive, Microsoft Can Make It Happen
Xbox boss Phil Spencer said the team at Xbox would “love to find solutions” in order to save the 220 non-backwards compatible games set to become unavailable for purchase once the Xbox 360 digital storefront shuts down next year. Gamespot I call “bullshit” on this, because Microsoft has never been shy about spending. If they want to keep the non-backwards compatible games on the storefront, they…
