The "Switch 2" is just a RAM Expansion Pack that you plug into your existing Switch. The real successor console, the Nintendo Top, will be revealed in December.

Splatfest results
I honestly made this meme before the Splatfest and debated posting it but I have no other way to express my thoughts about the Splatfest.
Tumblr media
I actually am surprised I saw more people on team future unironically have this opinion I frankly didn’t want present to win because I didn’t want Splatoon 3 post splatfest dialogue and/or Splatoon 4 to be “the present moment is so great” when it’s just… not at all to make a long story short. I don’t know why others may hold this opinion though the actual typical last Splatfest reasons were secondary to me honestly… if I had to independently rank reasons for teams winning it would be something like
Theme for Splatoon 4: Future, Past, Present
New Game: Past (Splatoon 1 remake) Present (Splatoon 3 Deluxe) Future (Splatoon 4)
Me before August 23: Future, Present, Past
Me now: Future, Past, Present
My overall thoughts on Splatoon 3 are to long and bitter at some points so I won’t talk about it much but if there is one thing a future Splatoon game should do I think they should go back to doing splatfests like in 2 there were A LOT of problems with splatfests in 3 for 1 reason or another. With Splatoon 4 or Splatoon 1 remake (whichever) I’ll have to wait and see how I feel regarding it and the switch 2 (which I’m still largely undecided on) though I think a Splatoon 1 remake is a more likely purchase then Splatoon 4 for me TBH

Just rewatched the reveal trailers for the Xbox Series X and PS5 from a few years ago in anticipation for the Switch's successor and I am super excited for what Nintendo has in store for the next console in their lineup. It's finally time for Nintendo to make their proper entry into the current console generation with the Switch successor, and the hybrid concept behind the Switch is already so great and brilliant that an iteration of it but improved and better in both hardware performance and gameplay would be a great transition.
Over the past half year or so I got my hands on a PS5 and Series X and I'm loving both of them so far, but while Sony and Microsoft have already made their entry with those and have established their place in the current generation, it's now finally Nintendo's turn to make an entrance with a new console of their own, and the Switch successor is so close and on the horizon and I'm excited for how Nintendo is going to expand upon what the Switch did in new ways...stronger hardware would be good enough, seeing Nintendo finally get to PS4 Pro level hardware to deliver experiences on par with that at least, but knowing Nintendo they've also got a knack for innovation and creating new gameplay concepts, so I'm sure the Switch successor will find new ways to incorporate new gameplay features that weren't possible on the Switch. Like maybe a dual screen interface both in handheld and on console/dock or something like that, but either way, you can always count on them to innovate, so I'm definitely looking forward to Nintendo's next creative innovations and inventions in gameplay and interactivity, and how that helps the next Nintendo console be even better than the already amazing Nintendo Switch. The original Switch was such a brilliant concept that I was always excited for as soon as it was talked about during the "Project NX" days back in 2015 and 2016, but the successor offers more potential to expand upon it even more. I also eagerly look forward to what kinds of launch games it will have.

The original reveal trailers for the Xbox Series X and PS5.
And now here we are...and it's finally Nintendo's turn for their current gen console debut. I'm so excited for the reveal trailer for the next Nintendo console and their proper 9th gen console, and what they're gonna show off about it. Whatever it has going for it, it's sure to be an exciting new thing and I'm sure Nintendo is gonna have something really cool and awesome up their sleeve.
I also eagerly look forward to what launch titles will be on the Switch successor. Hopefully a new 3D Mario game since we haven't gotten a real new one since Odyssey back in 2017, so the time is ripe, and maybe something like Prime 4 at least getting Switch sucessor-enhanced. Maybe bring in some newer multiplat games like Persona 3 Reload too. In any case, this is definitely an exciting time in terms of what Nintendo's got next, and with the successor console so close, I'm really feeling the excitement for it now.

My own predictions of the Switch successor (Cause why not?)
• A new button layout instead of the overrated system, since I'm not a fan of said system that originated in 1990. Let alone that dreaded balloon. Making sure it has that authentic Yamauchi-themed motif revolving a successor to the GameCube. • A new DK game with King K. Rool's officially glorious return. Not counting the port with no effort by Forever Entertainment because of [REDACTED]'s unhealthy kink for an ongoing torture against DK fans and K. Rool lovers. Seriously; who hired them? • Third party published / Indie developed games. No question. • No motion controls allowed. Do we really need another gimmicky situation where breaking things is considered fun? • This next one will revolve a kick in the googly woogly, so here it is: NO. MORE. SUPER. SMASH. BROS.
And that's all I have.

I preordered switch 2 for a couple of reasons.
1. I use the Switch for local multiplayer. Not every day or even every month, but if i'm meeting with friends I will bring the switch. I don't meet with my friends much anymore but it is still great for those occasions.
2. I have a large collection of Switch games that will benefit from the upgrade, though I am sad nothing has been announced for Xenoblade Chronicles X, which I've held off on completing since Switch 2 was announced. Guess I will have to see if it runs better or worse, the resolution will be unchanged though. XC2 can only go up performance wise even without an update. And i really hope Mario and Luigi Brothership runs faster, please god run faster.
3. I am concerned the price will go up, not down. If you look in CEX the second hand Switch Oled now costs... as much as a brand new one. Why. I could have waited and handed in my Oled to get a second hand Switch 2, but id probably have to hand over two thirds of the cost of a new console and lose my Oled in the process. If i like the 2 i will give the Oled to my sister (idk what to do with my original switch in that instance).
Being an Xbox 360 and Xbox One player in the past, i recently packed up my Xbone to give away, but I am still holding onto my 360. Bewilderingly, the 360 runs faster, despite being out of use longer and being put through the ringer much more. Goes to show what Microsoft did to Xbone.
I bring this up because I got the Xbone for the same reasons - multiplayer, backwards compatibility, being a long time fan - but by the end of tje generaiton the console was wholly abandoned and everyone was a Playstation, Switch, or PC gamer.
Nintendo are making a lot of the same mistakes that Microsoft made back then. In particular they are killing the physical collector base that has been their super-users for so long. I do hope that Nintendo have some good software on the way. I have been disappointed with everything I've seen from them since last year, so many games that failed to reach their potential.
I would recommend you all wait and see what the reaction is to this launch. If you really want the console you can get a second hand one from Ebay for much cheaper once they announce the inevitable upgraded oled version.

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said during the company’s second quarter financial results and corporate management policy briefing for the fiscal year ending March 2025 that the Nintendo Switch games will be playable on the successor to Nintendo Switch.
This is Furukawa. At today's Corporate Management Policy Briefing, we announced that Nintendo Switch software will also be playable on the successor to Nintendo Switch. Nintendo Switch Online will be available on the successor to Nintendo Switch as well. Further information about the successor to Nintendo Switch, including its compatibility with Nintendo Switch, will be announced at a later date.
Full content of the corporate management policy briefing regarding the successor to Switch:
Tumblr media
“Until Nintendo Switch, there was no easy way to have consumers’ purchase and gameplay histories carry over across platform generations. As a result, our relationship with the consumers was interrupted when a new system was purchased.”
“The introduction of Nintendo Account made it possible to tie consumers’ history to their personal account, enabling Nintendo to maintain a continuous relationship with the consumers across platform generations.”
“We have communicated that we plan on making an announcement regarding the successor to Nintendo Switch during this fiscal year. We believe that it is important for Nintendo’s future to make use of Nintendo Account and carry over the good relationship that we have built with the over 100 million annual playing users on Nintendo Switch to its successor.”
“Thus, we will make Nintendo Switch Online, a service based on Nintendo Account, available on the successor to Nintendo Switch.”
Tumblr media
“Furthermore, Nintendo Switch software will also be playable on the successor to Nintendo Switch.”
“In addition to being able to play Nintendo Switch software they currently own, consumers will be able to choose their next purchase from a broad selection of titles released for Nintendo Switch.”
“Further information about the successor to Nintendo Switch, including its compatibility with Nintendo Switch I explained today, will be announced at a later date.”

Switch Successor
The switch 2 is very weird for me because while on one hand a new console is exciting I don’t really want to spend the like $300+ on a brand new console and hardly anything feels worth getting a new console for… though Xenoblade Chronicles 4, and/or a remake of one of the Japanese only Fire Emblems, and/or a brand new Fire Emblem (but it’ll have to wow me better than Engage did) would make me want to get it ASAP.
