Could start with hello
Bruce Wayne x Dragon
@mrsjaderogers & @lieutenantn
Rachael had admired him from afar, but now she's in the same room as him. She had no intention of actually approaching him, but Bruce Wayne had other ideas.
This fic is inspired by some of the chat posts I did.

Being invited the gala was exciting to begin with. Rachael has been invited by the host, a friend of hers. Rachael had been a sponsor to her friend, Jade, and as a result was here to celebrate with her.
What she didn't know was that Gotham's billionaire heart throb was also attending. Her friend had played the gala down as no big deal, just a way to celebrate properly. She hadn't mentioned that Bruce Wayne himself had donated to the gala and was in attendance.
Rachael was avoiding the man at all costs.
She doesn't know if he was here just for the donation, or if her friend had done this on purpose. It was no secret to those who knew Rachael that she admired Bruce Wayne. Everyone with eyes could see that Rachael was absolutely smitten with him.
Handsome Bruce Wayne.
Gorgeous Bruce Wayne.
Sexy Bruce Wayne.
Whenever she saw his face on the cover of a magazine she would stop and look at it. If she saw Bruce on the TV should would sit and watch him.
Rachael was head over heels for Gotham's big celebrity billionaire.
She could do worse, that's for sure.
Bruce was chatting away to guests at the far end of the room. Rachael had been following him with her eyes. While Jade had made the rounds herself, she had caught Rachael staring at the man several times.
Having had enough, Jade slides up next to Rachael with a drink in hand. She clicks her tongue casually as she looks out at the crowd. She tries to make it out as if she's just looking at the room, but really, Jade is looking over at Wayne too.
"You could go over and say hello."
Rachael snaps her head around to Jade so quickly she almost gets whiplash.
"Are you insane?"
"Yes."
Rachael rolls her eyes and turns away. Jade knows Bruce Wayne. She could easily use that against her. Jade knows what Bruce does to Rachael, even from just a picture. Sometimes, he's all she thinks about.
Rachael shakes her head. She's the crazy one!
There was only one way this was going to succeed. Rachael could thank Jade later for this. Hooking her arm through her own, Jade forces Rachael to leave her little safety corner. Rachael's eyes go wide when she realises what's happening, when she releases where they're going. She tries to dig her heels into the ground, but there's no friction. Nothing can stop Jade from bringing her closer to Bruce Wayne.
"Mr. Wayne!"
Bruce turns and sees Jade approaching. However, his eyes are then drawn to the frightened looking woman with her. The woman seems to panic when they come to a stop in front of him. For a moment Bruce wonders if something had happened, but the smile on Jade's face tells him there isn't.
The look in her eyes tell him she's up to something.
"Hello again," he greets Jade.
Of course he would have spoken to her already. This was her event.
"Hello. I've come to introduce my friend."
Jade pulls Rachael forward and keeps a grip on her arm to stop her from running away. Rachael freezes up as Bruce looks at her.
"This is Rachael. She's a dear friend of mine, and a huge fan."
Bruce hadn't looked at Jade once since he saw Rachael. He smiles softly.
"Hello."
Rachael stares at him wide eyed and open mouthed. The cogs in her head are straining to provide a thought to her brain. Her lips remain still as she make no attempt to say anything.
Bruce is concerned for a moment.
"Are you alright?"
Rachael's lips quiver slightly. She makes a small noise, as if attempting to say something, but she comes up empty.
"M-me?" Is all she can find herself saying.
"Well, Jade appears to have snuck off, so yes, I suppose, you."
Rachael turns around and finds that Jade has, in fact, abandoned her. Her heart is racing in her chest as she realises he has been left alone with Bruce Wayne.
"Do you want to sit down?" Bruce asks, not sure what else to do. This woman seems to be in a bit of a frenzy.
"Huh?" Rachael turns back around to face him and sees Bruce standing there awkwardly. Oh no, she's made him uncomfortable.
"Do you want to sit down?" He asks again.
Rachael shakes her head quickly.
"I... uh... no... thank you."
Rachael takes a step back.
"I.... uh.... I should.... go."
Bruce frowns as be watches her take another step back. Quickly, she turns around. Rachael almost walks into a couple, but narrowly dodges them. Bruce takes a step forward, his hand raising slightly as if to reach out to her, but she's gone in the blink of an eye.
Bruce is left confused and cocnerned.
In a split second decision he decides to follow where she went. She couldn't have gone too far.
He doesn't have to go far. Rachael had returned to her little hiding corner where she had been watching him from before. She startles when she sees him standing there looking at her.
Hands behind his back, head up high, lips parted as if he was going to say something. Now it was his turn to freeze.
He had known this woman less than 5 minutes. Actually, he didn't know her at all. Just her name. And that she was beautiful.
"Hello." He finally says.
Rachael stares at him again.
"We can start with hello," he tells her. He wants her to say something. Anything. He wants to hear her voice.
"Hello..."
He smiles. That's it.
"I can leave if you want me to. I just... I don't know..."
Rachael looks so very confused.
"I'm Bruce," he says. He then sighs. Of course she knows that. Jade had said she was a big fan of his, and, well, he's Bruce Wayne.
"I know," Rachael says. "Everyone knows that."
Bruce looks awkward again.
"I didn't mean to frighten you."
Rachael shakes her head.
"It's not that.... it's just... you're Bruce Wayne."
Bruce chuckles at that.
"So I am."
Rachael takes a deep breath before talking again.
"I, uh... I admire you. It's weird to be talking to you..."
"I would like to make it less weird, if I can?" He asks, watching her carefully.
"But you're Bruce Wayne.... and I'm.... just Rachael."
He smiles.
"Well, just Rachael, maybe we can do something about that."
"What like?"
"Tea at the manor tomorrow?"
Rachael blanks again. Bruce's chuckle helps her snap back this time.
"The manor? Your manor?"
"Yes."
"This has to be dream..." Rachael leans back against the wall. "Bruce Wayne is not inviting me to his home for tea... no way."
"I think I am," he says, chuckling slightly, but looking a little confused.
"But... you're Bruce Wayne. I stop to look at magazines with your face in because I like looking at you. I watch you on the TV to hear you speak. I admire you from afar. I don't... I don't get invited to your estate for... for tea!"
Bruce chuckles.
"Then just this once. Please? I'd like you accept."
Rachael can feel her heart going crazy. She places a hand over her chest and takes a few deep breaths. She thinks she might pass out.
"Okay..." She whispers.
Bruce looks taken back for a moment. He was expecting her to say no. He couldn't help feeling like he had out her on the spot there.
"Really?"
Rachael nods.
"Great. Maybe we'll be able a bit better at this talking thing tomorrow," he jokes softly.
Rachael laughs a little and then says, "I doubt it."
Bruce laughs.
She made him laugh.
This can't be real. Any minute now she will wake up and none of this will have happened.
The seconds tick by and she's still looking at him. His eyes stays with hers until his name is called from behind him. He, regrettably, turns away to see who had called him. When he turns back around, Rachael is gone.
For a moment he wonders if he was the one who was dreaming.
But he sees her across the room looking at him and he knows. He knows.
Bruce leaves with a smile on his face.
