Constance Bennett - The Hollywood Fox
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Constance Campbell Bennett (born in New York City on October 22, 1904) was an American actress born to an aristocratic family of actors of English and Spanish ancestry. Blonde, stunning and honey-voiced, she glided through Hollywood with a sprite-like lightness and definite air of style and sophistication, receiving the moniker, "The Hollywood Fox."
The eldest of three daughters of actress Adrienne Morrison and actor Richard Bennett, she attended the Chapin School in New York along with her sisters Joan Bennett and Barbara Bennett, both of whom were actresses.
She was first Bennett sister to enter motion pictures, appearing in New York–produced silent movies before a meeting with Samuel Goldwyn led to her Hollywood debut in 1924. She took a hiatus during a brief marriage, but resumed it after her divorce.
In the early 1930s, Bennett was frequently among the top actresses named in audience popularity and box-office polls due to hits like Topper (1937). Her contracts with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Warner Brothers, and RKO made her a big star in Hollywood, and her cutthroat contract negotiations earned her the sole female spot among Hollywood’s poker-playing elite comprised of top movie moguls.
By the 1940s, Bennett was working less frequently in film but was in demand in both radio and theatre, and she also formed her own production company, Constance Bennett Pictures, which produced two films. Nonetheless, shrewd investments made her a wealthy woman, even founding a cosmetics and clothing company, called "Fashion Focks."
Shortly after Madame X (1966) was completed, Bennett collapsed and died from a cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 60 in Walston Army Hospital at Fort Dix, New Jersey. In recognition of her military contributions, and as the wife of John Theron Coulter, who had achieved the rank of brigadier general, she was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
Legacy:
Won the Photoplay Awards - Best Performances of the Month in April 1925
Was the highest-paid actress in Hollywood during the early 1930s
Founded the Constance Bennett Cosmetics Company and a clothing company called "Fashion Frocks" in the 1930s
Formed her own production company, Constance Bennett Pictures, which produced two films: Paris Underground (1945) and Smart Woman (1948)
Made smart business investments, including holding stocks in the historic Arrowhead Springs Hotel
Awarded military honors for her role in coordinating shows flown to Europe for occupying troops (1946-48) and the Berlin Airlift (1948-49)
Nominated as the Hall of Fame: Actress Award in the 1978 Photoplay Awards
Has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6250 Hollywood Boulevard for motion picture

With no word on when precisely the sequel to The Old Guard will return to life on Netflix, let's see what the cast is doing.
- Staying in the Netflix fold is Marwan Kenzari who appears in the currently streaming GHOSTED starring Chris Evans and Ana de Armas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kenzari is also cast in THE RETURN, a retelling of Homer's "The Odyssey" starring Juliette Binoche, Ralph Fiennes and Charlie Plummer. Kenzari will play Antinous.
Tumblr media
-Matthias Schoenaerts starred in Canal+/Sky's DJANGO. Schoenaerts starred as the titular character made famous by Franco Nero. It also starred his THE DROP costar Noomi Rapace.
Tumblr media
Next up for Schoenaerts is Terrence Malik's THE WAY OF THE WIND, which is a telling of moments in the life of Christ. But as it's a Malik film who knows if it will ever see the light of day or if Schoenaerts is in the final edit.
More THE OLD GUARD cast goings-on.
He also has THE REGIME starring Kate Winslet. Formerly titled THE PALACE, it's a look at a the impending unraveling of a dictator's rule.
Tumblr media
THE REGIME is a limited series on HBO Max and all episodes were directed by the masterful Stephen Frears and was created and co-written by Will Tracy one of the writers of THE MENU and SUCCESSION.
-Speaking of dictators - Luca Marinelli is still at work on the adaptation of the novel M: SON OF THE CENTURY which recounts the rise of Benito Mussolini. Director Joe Wright and Marinelli have both done recent interviews about the series. Some new information? The score will have a techno bent with music supplied by The Chemical Bros.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I take it the music in the background of this video of Joe Wright's daughter (her mother is actress Haley Bennett of Cyrano and Till)dancing on set is indicative of the type of music that will pop up in the series.
Speaking of kids, Luca's wife Alissa Jung returned to the director's chair to direct her son Lenius Jung in her short "Die Mauer muss weg (The wall must fall)".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- KiKi Layne has DANDELION coming up. Unlike DON'T WORRY DARLING her scenes won't be cut because Layne plays the titular Dandelion. What is it all about? "It follows a singer-songwriter in a downward spiral as she takes a last effort gig at a motorcycle rally in South Dakota where she meets Casey, a guitarist who walked away from his dream long ago."
Casey is played by Thomas Doherty (Gossip Girl).
Layne and Doherty.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Charlize Theron is returning to the big screen next month in FAST X, reprising her role as Cipher.

Hello Everyone,
Today was absolutely PERFECT in terms of weather here in Savannah, Georgia and instead of staying on the farm like we usually do, Theron and I decided to take them to one of my favorite little parks in town. It only recently was just put in. I discovered it while walking with Pal, though at the time it was still under construction. I love all the bright colors, they really did an amazing job!
Ivy was so upset when we finally had to go (mosquitos were coming out in swarms). She didn’t understand why she couldn’t take “just one” of the dinosaurs home with her, lol. I promised we’d come again soon! Especially with summer approaching, I expect my favorite red haired trio to be spending a lot of time over at our farm. Well, maybe at least Harrison and Hazel. Meg’s very pregnant right now so I try to take the kids off her hands, especially on the weekends when they’re restless. However, Reese is home today so they decided to go do stuff with his family. It warms my heart to see my best friend so happy and her kids adoring their soon to be step father!
Anyways, I just wanted to post some pics and say howdy-do! I’ve gotta go feed the pigs and milk Betsy before she starts a riot!

Constance Campbell Bennett (October 22, 1904 – July 24, 1965), was an American stage, film, radio and television actress. She was a major Hollywood star during the 1920s and 1930s and for a time during the early 1930s, she was the highest-paid actress in Hollywood, as well as one of the most popular. Bennett frequently played society women, focusing on melodramas in the early 1930s and then taking more comedic roles in the late 1930s and 1940s. She is best known today for her leading roles in What Price Hollywood? (1932), Bed of Roses (1933), Topper (1937), Topper Takes a Trip (1938), and had a prominent supporting role in Greta Garbo's last film, Two-Faced Woman (1941).
She was the daughter of stage and silent film star Richard Bennett, and the older sister of actress Joan Bennett.
Constance Bennett was born in New York City, the eldest of three daughters of actress Adrienne Morrison and actor Richard Bennett. Her younger sisters were actresses Joan Bennett and Barbara Bennett. All three girls attended the Chapin School in New York.
After some time spent in a convent, Bennett went into the family business. Independent, cultured, ironic and outspoken, Constance, the first Bennett sister to enter motion pictures, appeared in New York-produced silent movies before a meeting with Samuel Goldwyn led to her Hollywood debut in Cytherea (1924). She abandoned a burgeoning career in silents for marriage to Philip Plant in 1925, but resumed her film career after their divorce, with the advent of talking pictures (1929), and with her delicate blonde features and glamorous fashion style, she quickly became a popular film star.
In the early 1930s, Bennett was frequently among the top actresses named in audience popularity and box-office polls. For a short time, she was the highest-paid actress in Hollywood. So successful was Bennett during this time, that RKO, Bennett's home studio at the time, controlled the careers of actresses Ann Harding and Helen Twelvetrees in a similar manner, hoping to duplicate Bennett's success.
In 1931, a short-lived contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer earned her $300,000 for two movies which included The Easiest Way and made her one of the highest-paid stars in Hollywood. Warner Brothers paid her the all-time high salary of $30,000 a week for Bought! in 1931. Richard Bennett, her father, was also cast in this film.
The next year she moved to RKO, where she acted in What Price Hollywood? (1932), directed by George Cukor, an ironic and at the same time tragic behind-the-scenes looks at the old Hollywood studio system, in which she portrayed waitress Mary Evans, who becomes a movie star. Lowell Sherman co-starred as the film director who discovers her, and Neil Hamilton as the wealthy playboy she marries. It was a critical and box office hit at the time of its release.[citation needed] The film Morning Glory had been written with Bennett in mind for the lead role, but producer Pandro S. Berman gave the role to Katharine Hepburn, who won an Academy Award for her performance.
Bennett next showed her versatility in the likes of Our Betters (1933), writer/director Gregory La Cava's Bed of Roses (1933) with Pert Kelton, After Tonight (1933) (co-starring with future husband Gilbert Roland), The Affairs of Cellini (1934), After Office Hours (1935) with Clark Gable, the original Topper (1937, in a career standout as Marian Kerby opposite Cary Grant, a role she repeated in the 1939 sequel, Topper Takes a Trip), the ultimate madcap family comedy Merrily We Live (1938) and Two-Faced Woman (1941, supporting Greta Garbo).
By the 1940s, Bennett was working less frequently in film but was in demand in both radio and theatre. She had her own program, Constance Bennett Calls on You, on ABC radio in 1945-1946. Shrewd investments had made her a wealthy woman, and she founded a cosmetics and clothing company.
Bennett was married five times and had three children.
On June 15, 1921, Bennett eloped with Chester Hirst Moorehead of Chicago, a student at the University of Virginia who was the son of oral surgeon, Frederick Moorehead. They were married by a justice of the peace in Greenwich, Connecticut. Bennett was 16 at the time. A New York Times article that reported the elopement noted, "The parents of Miss Bennett were opposed to their marriage at this time solely on account of their youth." The marriage was annulled in 1923.
Bennett's next serious relationship was with millionaire socialite Philip Morgan Plant. Her parents planned a cruise to Europe, taking Constance with them, to separate the couple. As the ship was preparing to leave port, however, the Bennetts saw Plant and his parents boarding, too. A contemporary newspaper article reported, "Now the little beauty and the heir to all the Plant millions were assured a week of the cosy intimacy which an ocean liner affords." In November 1925, the two eloped and were married in Greenwich, Connecticut, by the same justice of the peace who officiated at Bennett's wedding to Moorehead. They divorced in a French court.
In 1932, Bennett returned from Europe with a three-year-old child, whom she claimed to have adopted and named Peter Bennett Plant (born 1929). In 1942, however, during a battle over a large trust fund established to benefit any descendants of her former husband, Bennett announced that her adopted son actually was her natural child by Plant, born after the divorce and kept hidden to ensure that the child's biological father did not get custody. During the court hearings, the actress told her former mother-in-law and her husband's widow that "if she got to the witness stand she would give a complete account of her life with Plant." The matter was settled out of court.
In 1931, Bennett made headlines when she married one of Gloria Swanson's former husbands, Henri le Bailly, the Marquis de La Coudraye de La Falaise, a French nobleman and film director. She and de la Falaise founded Bennett Pictures Corp. and co-produced two films which were the last filmed in Hollywood in the two-strip Technicolor process, Legong: Dance of the Virgins (1935) filmed in Bali, and Kilou the Killer Tiger (1936), filmed in Indochina. They were divorced in Reno, Nevada in 1940.
Bennett's fourth marriage was to actor Gilbert Roland. They were married in 1941 and had two daughters, Lorinda "Lynda" (1938) and Christina "Gyl" (1941). They divorced in 1946, with Bennett winning custody of their children. Later that year, Bennett married for the fifth and final time to US Air Force Colonel (later Brigadier General) John Theron Coulter. After her marriage, she concentrated her efforts on providing relief entertainment to US troops still stationed in Europe, winning military honors for her services. Bennett and Coulter remained married until her death in 1965.
She had a major supporting role in Warner Bros' The Unsuspected (1947) opposite Claude Rains, in which she played Jane Moynihan, the program director who helps prove that radio host Victor Grandison (Rains) is guilty of murder. In 1958, she hosted "The Constance Bennett Show" with Scott Vincent on ABC Radio. She made no films from the early 1950s until 1965 when she made a comeback in the film Madame X (released posthumously in 1966) as the blackmailing mother-in-law of Madame X (Lana Turner).
On July 25, 1965, shortly after filming of Madame X was completed, Bennett collapsed and died from a cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 60. In recognition of her military contributions, and as the wife of John Theron Coulter, who had achieved the rank of brigadier general, she was buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Coulter died in 1995 and was buried with her.
Bennett has a motion pictures star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contributions to the film industry. Her star is located at 6250 Hollywood Boulevard, a short distance from the star of her sister, Joan.

New from Kevin Wozniak on Kevflix: Decade Rewind: 2011
As the 2010’s have officially come to an end, I will be looking back at each cinematic year to give a personal decade retrospective of the best movies and performances of each year.  I will break down my Top 10 movies of each year, along with my favorite performances from that year.  I will also be listing my favorite’s from each genre, like Best Animated Movie and Best Action Movie, as well as best of the technical aspects, like Best Cinematography and Best Screenplay.  This will all culminate into my picks for the best movies and performances of the decade.
*Rankings of movies and performances are numbered from 1-5, with 1 being the best movie/performance.
*Gifs for each category are not specifically of the “winners” of each category, just one of the nominees.
      THE YEAR: 2011
2011 was one of the more unique years of this decade and one that, on a personal level, was really quite formative.  This was the year where I first began to form a perspective and opinion on film and actually started doing small reviews.  It was my first year attending the Sundance Film Festival, which exposed me to a whole new world of films, filmmakers, filmmaking, and just cinema in general.  I also saw over 100 films that year, the first time I ever broke the century mark, which, in a time where there was no MoviePass or AMC A-List and you had to pay full-price for movie tickets, this was quite an expensive feat, but an important one.
2011 gave us a murderers row of big time directors with films, like Steven Spielberg, David Fincher, Martin Scorsese, Woody Allen, and Alexander Payne, but it was also a great year for up-and-coming directors, like Bennett Miller, Nicolas Winding Refn, and  Gavin O’Connor, as well as a spectacular year for franchises and sequels, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe getting in full swing with Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor, the Fast and Furious franchise and Mission: Impossible franchise hitting new peaks, and the finale of Harry Potter.  Here were my picks for the best movies and performances of 2011.

Alllll of the OTP emoji asks, please and thank you!
You’re lucky that I freaking love you!!!!! Okay, so because I love you.. I will do both of the sims you asked me to do! I don’t have “ship” banners for them yet, so you get their regular ones :)
Tumblr media
❤️ - BENNERON aka Bennette x Theron (Theron is created by @neversayenevermore who’s allowing me to use him in an AU ship)
🌱 - Bennette, hands down. Theron is decent though, as long as he has a recipe to follow.
🌿 - Theron would say Bennette eliminates a natural glow that drew him in. Bennette fell for him a little more slowly then Theron fell for her. She was very pregnant when they first met and she thought he was odd, lol. As it turned out though, they’re a match made in heaven.
🍃 - Bennette was meeting a friend at the park for a lunch date when Theron saw her and walked over to chat.
🦊 - Yes, Theron had a Boxer named Cupcake, but she ran away. Bennette’s got a Border Collie named Pal and she and Theron adopted a stray cat with three legs that Macie named Kevin the Cat. They also own three cows, some chickens and a horse named Duke.
✨ - They have three beautiful little girls. Macie Jane, Ivy James and Ariana Jade!
🍂 - Awkward as heck! It’d been a long time since Bennette had feelings for another man and to be kissing him totally threw her off.
🥀 - Bennnette is constancly cracking up laughing over stuff Theron says or does.
🎀 - Neither, really. Bennette’s gained a lot of weight in her last pregnancy so she couldn’t fit into Theron’s clothes even if she wanted to. She used to wear his favorite sweater whenever he’d leave town for work, but … she is too afraid to try it on because it might get stuck.
🦎 - Theron definitely stays up late. Especially when he’s working on a case. But he also suffers from nightmares from it. Bennette doesn’t usually stay up past 10pm unless she’s getting ready for a trip out of town or if she’s putting together a shipment for a client.
🎨 - Theron usually if he’s driving.
🦌 - Mostly Theron, if he’s home.
👊 - Both are.
🏁 - Never.
Tumblr media
❤️ - LOONA aka Logan Blake (@candydandysims) and Oona Bartolini.
🌱 - They’re both fantastic cooks! Well, bakers.. Logan actually sucks at cooking in general, lmao. Oona is an amazing cook though :)
🌿 - Oona loves his passion and how he loses himself in his art. Logan loves Oona for her heart and he loves watching her read, and drawing her while she’s reading.
🍃 - Habitat for Simanity? They were building houses together. Oona volunteered, I think Logan was doing it for some sort of probational thing because he graffitied the school hallway, or something, lol. Whatever the reason, they hit it off.
🦊 - Oona had a dog name Cooper, but he passed away. She now has a cat, though it’s not technically “her” cat as it’s more a stray that’s seemed to adopt her (or anyone else with food). She calls her Mooch. Her house isn’t large enough for a dog, at least not a large breed.
✨ - She has a baby girl, Theodora Sophia-Lane.
🍂 - Oona would describe it as perfect :)
🥀 - Logan. To be fair though, Oona is easily amused *winks*
🎀 - Oona still has one of Logan’s blue flannel shirts and a sweater she wears often.
🦎 - Idk about Logan, but Oona def stays up late. She owns her own business so she’s constantly working on paperwork and cleaning even though her house is immaculate.
🎨 - Oona, she loves classical music. And Rock.
🦌 - When they were together, Oona. Logan was usually getting distracted by his surrounds and often lost in daydreams he’d later paint or draw.
👊 - Hmm… I’d say in the beginning, Logan. Mostly because his Father didn’t approve of him dating Oona (she used to have a lip piercing and he didn’t like it, not that-that would of mattered… Jack hated anything Logan did in Logan’s eyes). However, now that Oona’s a Mother, it’s pretty even steven. Although, Logan doesn’t know he’s a Father yet.. so… >.> we’ll see where the cookie crumbles sooner or later.
🏁 - No. Never.
