L'ISTANZA NARRATIVA

L’Io dell’autore è una rappresentazione del mondo, una rappresentazione fenomenica che si sostanzia in costruzione narrativa del senso, nella scia della necessità di costruzione delle rappresentazioni sociali. Questa necessità del nostro sistema cognitivo ha un luogo che va oltre la mente e che è il logos, il discorso; la sua ricerca è volta verso l’interpretazione; il suo metodo è quello della descrizione. Dunque, narrare è costruire la realtà, una porzione di realtà, o una realtà altra consapevole della sua opposizione, del suo divenire “essere” per opposizione allo spazio occupato dalle altre essenze, cioè dalle altre interpretazioni di essenze. Può un testo “essere”? In senso materiale è facile rispondere di sì, ma sarebbe ben poca cosa se l’essere fosse esclusivamente il risultato della materialità degli eventi. No, l’essere è l’identità comune tra i molteplici, è quanto si trova a essere partecipato dai molteplici. Se l’essenza del pensiero umano è ciò che l’umano conosce, allora un testo, un testo narrativo, è parte di quest’essenza, un’essenza che non si origina nel nulla per ritornare nel nulla, ma che è sempre esistita e sempre sarà. Non è generata poiché essa è nella molteplicità inespressa dell’umano, è nei suoi saperi, è essenza dell’umano poiché conoscenza fenomenica del mondo e rappresentazione collettiva, comune, interrelata.

The crowds of visitors who invaded monuments and museums with enthusiasm and passion demonstrate the enormous and transversal attraction that cultural assets are capable of exerting.

Making culture open and participatory, giving people the freedom to use it so that this creates an experience. Not a simple passage to say "I've been there", but something deeper, which puts you in contact on a cognitive and even more emotional level with what you are going through.

Last night there were those who flocked to museums, without necessarily having a background in art studies. It does not matter. Someone turns up their noses but I say it doesn't matter. Exchanging impressions among strangers in front of a sinopia or a work by Giovanni Pisano is sharing, it is love for beauty, it is creating an experience.

Last night there were those who entered the cathedral, those who preferred the concert, those who went to the museums and those who simply stayed to play on the lawns in front of the monuments. It was a perfectly successful collective ritual because it was free. Everyone was put in a position to react to art and beauty as they felt.

This is my idea of culture, art and anthropology.

Hi! I’m going to Florence this September, do you have any suggestions for places to check out? Bonus points if they’re historic or educational :)

Absolutely! There's so much to do in Florence that even having spent months upon months there I haven't seen it all.

For museums: the Uffizi is of course splendid (though a hassle to visit); the Accademia is good, but be sure to look at the paintings instead of just the David. If you're interested in sculpture, the Bargello is a must; for painting, the Galleria Palatina in Palazzo Pitti. In addition, there are plenty of smaller museums: Palazzo Medici-Riccardi for the Benozzo Gozzoli frescoes, Palazzo Davanzati for a 14th-century palace, San Marco for Fra Angelico. Then there are all the churches... Santa Trinita is one of my favourites for the Ghirlandaio frescoes. I can go on and on!

For food: my favourite restaurants are Osteria Belguardo and Industria (excellent pizza). For a sandwich, avoid All'antico vinaio and go to I due fratelli. The best gelato is Gelateria dei Neri.
