Rockers Hi Fi – Transmission Central Rockers Hi-Fi were an electronic dub/dance outfit formed in Birmingham, England in 1991 as Original Rockers. In 1994 they changed their name to Rockers Hi-Fi. Their music was quite popular across Europe as an extension and continuation of the dub music genre. Their first success came with a few tracks on the Beyond Records Ambient Dub series of compilations, and “Push Push” became a dancefloor hit at the beginning of the 90s. They released four studio albums and also mixed and compiled an album for Studio !K7’s DJ-Kicks series. Their urban sound was created by Richard “DJ Dick” Whittingham who began his DJ career in Duran Duran’s Rum Runner nightclub, he now hosts Leftfoot at the Medicine Bar, and Glyn “Bigga” Bush who continues to produce music as BiggaBush and Lightning Head on his own Lion Head label. Their song “What a Life!” was part of the soundtrack for the 1995 film The Basketball Diaries, and “Going Under (Love & Insanity Dub) (K&D Sessions)” featured in the 2000s film Traffic, as well as in the mid-season finale to the first season of the television series The O.C.

In 1992, Richard Whittingham and Glyn Bush founded the label Different Drummer, releasing music from both Original Rockers/Rockers Hi-Fi and others.”.(Wikipedia)

Glyn Bigga Bush war in den 90ern Mitglied des britischen Dub-Pop-Projektes Rockers HiFi, inzwischen macht er eher akademische Musik. The Innocence Mission sind eine ambitionierte US-Folk-Band, die den Geist Leonard Cohens heraufbeschwören. Magic Drum Orchestra's (MDO) - aka Glyn “Bigga” Bush of Rockers Hi-Fi - “Original Nuttah feat. Bunty (DJ Madd Remix)” is the lead single from the percussive group’s forthcoming remix EP “100 Whites A Day” (out 8th May) on Tru Thoughts. Building on MDO's irresistible dance-filled percussive rework of Shy FX’s & UK Apache’s ragga-jungle classic, DJ Madd, aka Hungarian-born now US-based Peter Simon, reinterprets the track giving it a UK funky-afrobeat tip, chopping up the vocals of Bunty (Brighton’s Kassia Zermon) into a hypnotic-hook. “Original Nuttah feat. Bunty (DJ Madd Remix)” is a peak-time contagious weapon, a dancefloor-filler and future dance-anthem. DJ Madd originally moved from his hometown of Budapest to Bristol, where he set foot scoring a guest mix on Skream’s Rinse FM show and spots on compilations by Ministry of Sound. Fusing underground bass music and Jamaican reggae sound, DJ Madd has been championed by the likes of Toddla T, Mary Anne Hobbs and David Rodigan.

Glyn Bigga Bush is a musician, DJ and producer based in Dorset, originally half of Rockers Hi Fi, now making music as the Magic Drum Orchestra and BiggaBush on the Tru Thoughts label. His influences range from afrobeat, dub and funk to library music and soundtracks as well as electronic music, latin and jazz.

Breathless is the very first Rockers track, released under the Original Rockers name on Cake in 1992.
