Did you have color war or anything like it at your school/camp. as in everyone dresses up in a different color and competes in a bunch of competitions for points and whoever gets the most at the end of the day wins.
I've had some version of color war at almost every Jewish school or camp I've been to. It comes from Macabi Games in Israel and a bunch of Jewish camps and schools were like, we should have something like that. I've seen it called color war, bikkurim, and macabi games.
I realized it was probably a Jewish thing when I realized that field day wasn't just color-war and tends to be more team-building than color war. I read a fanfic yesterday set in a secular camp that had color-war so now I'm wondering if it really is a Jewish thing that just kind of spread a bit or if it isn't a Jewish thing so here's a poll
please reblog for more spread and leave your answer or experiences in the tags if you want

Bikkurim
written by Will Schumacher
Per my last post, the unique list of the 12 tribes of Israelites/144,000 sealed in Revelation 7 has a Hebrew gematria of 3207 when using the gematrias of Numbers 2.
The 144,000 are called “firstfruits” in Revelation 14. The 7 species of Israel that consist of the firstfruits or “bikkurim” in Hebrew are listed in Deuteronomy 8:8 with a matching gematria of 3207.
I thought this was pretty cool, but I might not have explained it so well. Aleph Beta has a nice video on the bikkurim and its importance to the covenant.
Deuteronomy 26 explains what the person who brings the firstfruits to the temple must say:
Deut 26: 1-10 And it shall be, when thou art come in unto the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and possessest it, and dwellest therein;
2 That thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which thou shalt bring of thy land that the Lord thy God giveth thee, and shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the place which the Lord thy God shall choose to place his name there.
3 And thou shalt go unto the priest that shall be in those days, and say unto him, I profess this day unto the Lord thy God, that I am come unto the country which the Lord sware unto our fathers for to give us.
4 And the priest shall take the basket out of thine hand, and set it down before the altar of the Lord thy God.
5 And thou shalt speak and say before the Lord thy God, A Syrian ready to perish was my father, and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there with a few, and became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous:
6 And the Egyptians evil entreated us, and afflicted us, and laid upon us hard bondage:
7 And when we cried unto the Lord God of our fathers, the Lord heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labour, and our oppression:
8 And the Lord brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders:
9 And he hath brought us into this place, and hath given us this land, even a land that floweth with milk and honey.
10 And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land, which thou, O Lord, hast given me. And thou shalt set it before the Lord thy God, and worship before the Lord thy God:
Aleph Beta explains that God made a covenant with Abraham that he would become a great nation and inherit the Promised Land. That same covenant was repeated to Isaac and then to Jacob. Jacob went to Egypt and as Exodus 1:7 states “they became fruitful and multiplied and became great”, but none saw the promised inheritance of the land.
However the focus of the bikkurim is all about the promised inheritance of the land. The bikkurim is about the firsfruits of the land. You are proclaiming that God honored His covenant with Abraham and you are bringing the firstfruits of the land as proof that He honored it.
The firstfruits are also a representation of the whole harvest and how God has blessed the person bringing them.
So in Revelation 7 you have 144,000 sealed which is a completion number, but it is a small number in comparison to the whole harvest but as firstfruits it is a representation of the whole harvest. After the list of the 12 tribes sealed then there is seen in Heaven the whole harvest and the fulfillment of the Abrahamic covenant which the bikkurim were a proof of:
Revelation 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
Strong’s H1061=”firstfruits” or “bikkurim”
1061 is the 179th prime.
Deuteronomy 26, which is about how to bring the bikkurim to the temple and what to say, is chapter 179 of the Bible.
Enoch is related to the firstfruits numerically.
Primes 1-97 add to 1061. The name Enoch is first mentioned in verse 97 of the bible. Enoch’s New Testament gematria of 1455 = 97 x 15.
Enoch’s Old Testament gematria is 84. Verse 84 of the Bible is about Abel’s firstfruits offering being accepted:
Genesis 4:4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
It is thought that Cain did not bring his firstfruits but his “last fruits” by the wording “in the process of time”:
Genesis 4:3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord.
According to the Chabad article listed below, the firstfruits could be brought beginning with Pentecost and ending with Hannukah. Hannukah and Enoch share the same root. Hannukah is the 84th day of the year beginning Tishri 1. Enoch has an Old Testament (Hebrew) gematria of 84. Enoch is believed to have been born and raptured (taken) on Pentecost.
Bikkurim: First Fruits - Chabad.org
There is such a connection between Enoch and firstfruits it is as if he was a firstfruit in a sense. He was taken and is the promise and representation of the whole harvest.
Enoch was taken 1061 years before Isaac was born. Isaac was the lone child of faith to Abraham who was promised to be a father to many nations. Isaac was like a firstfruit in sense also. He was the promised child of faith that represented Spiritual Israel through all generations that would be saved by their faith in Christ alone.

God created Adam & Eve
Anything else is a sin!
“Rabbi Yirmeya ben Elazar imagines that the first human was created both male and female — with two faces. Later, this original human being was separated and became two distinct people, Adam and Eve. According to this midrash then, the first human being was, to use contemporary parlance, nonbinary. Genesis Rabbah 8:1 offers a slightly different version of Rabbi Yirmeya’s teaching:
Rabbi Yirmeya ben Elazar: In the hour when the Holy One created the first human, He created him as an androgynos (one having both male and female sexual characteristics), as it is said, “male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:27)”
That the androgynos is, from a halakhic perspective, neither male nor female, is confirmed by Mishnah Bikkurim 4:1, which states this explicitly:
The androgynos is in some ways like men, and in other ways like women. In other ways he is like men and women, and in others he is like neither men nor women. (Mishnah Bikkurim 4:1)’”

FIRST FRUITS
"And it will be, when you come into the land which the Lord, your God, gives you for an inheritance, and you possess it and settle in it, that you shall take of the first of all the fruit of the ground, which you will bring from your land, which the Lord, your God is giving you. And you shall put [them] into a basket and go to the place which the Lord, your God, will choose to have His Name dwell there." - Deut. 26:1-2
This week’s Torah portion, Ki Tavo, begins with the mitzvah (commandment) of Bikkurim, first fruits. Moses instructs the Jews that when they settle in the Holy Land, every year at harvest time they must bring some of the first crop of fruit to the Kohen (priest) serving in the Temple in Jerusalem. It says in the Midrash that it was for Bikkurim that the world was created.
What is so significant about this particular mitzvah that the entire world was created for it? The Slonimer Rebbe (1911-2000) explains that what God wants most is for us to dedicate ourselves to serving Him, and Bikkurim is the ultimate example of that. Imagine a farmer, working his field by the sweat of his brow all year. When the first fruit finally appears, his immediate impulse is to pluck a piece from the tree and enjoy a delicious bite. Instead, he makes the difficult journey to Jerusalem to dedicate his fruit to God. Overcoming one's physical desires to express gratitude to our Creator is the ultimate act of self-sacrifice, and there is nothing more important to God than that.

Testo 1: Creato in modo strano

– Mishna Nazir 2:7

Testo 4: I nostri antenati Genderqueer: Abramo e Sara
Talmud babilonese Yevamot 64a-b

"Real life is a funny thing, you know. In real life, saying the right thing at the right moment is beyond crucial. So crucial, in fact, the most of us start to hesitate, for fear of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. But lately what I've begun to fear more than that is letting the moment pass without saying anything. I think most of us fear reaching the end of our life, and looking back regretting the moments we didn't speak up. When we didn't say 'I love you.' When we should've said 'I'm sorry.' When we didn't stand up for ourselves or someone who needed help. Words can break someone into a million pieces, but they can also put them back together. I hope you use yours for good, because the only words you’ll regret more than the ones left unsaid are the ones you use to intentionally hurt someone. What you say might be too much for some people. Maybe it will come out all wrong and you’ll stutter and you’ll walk away embarrassed, wincing as you play it all back in your head. But I think the words you stop yourself from saying are the ones that will haunt you the longest. So say it to them. Or say it to yourself in the mirror. Say it in a letter you’ll never send or in a book millions might read someday. I think you deserve to look back on your life without a chorus of resounding voices saying ‘I could’ve, but it’s too late now.’ There is a time for silence. There is a time for waiting your turn. But if you know how you feel, and you so clearly know what you need to say, you’ll know it. I don't think you should wait. I think you should speak now. Gardner is a surname of English, Scottish and Irish origin. Most sources say it is an occupational surname that comes from the word "gardener". Other sources claim that it is derived from the old English words gar-dyn meaning "warrior", "one who bears arms".

John 20:12 She saw two white-robed angels, one sitting at the head and the other at the foot of the place where the body of Jesus had been lying. John 20:13 “Dear woman, why are you crying?” the angels asked her. “Because they have taken away my Lord,” she replied, “and I don’t know where they have put him.” John 20:14 She turned to leave and saw someone standing there. It was Jesus, but she didn’t recognize him. John 20:15 “Dear woman, why are you crying?” Jesus asked her. “Who are you looking for?” She thought he was the gardener. “Sir,” she said, “if you have taken him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will go and get him.” John 20:16 “Mary!” Jesus said. She turned to him and cried out, “Rabboni!” (which is Hebrew for “Teacher”). John 20:17 “Don’t cling to me,” Jesus said, “for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” John 20:18 Mary Magdalene found the disciples and told them, “I have seen the Lord!” Then she gave them his message. John 20:19 That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said. John 20:20 As he spoke, he showed them the wounds in his hands and his side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord! John 20:21 Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” John 20:22 Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. John 20:23 If you forgive anyone’s sins, they are forgiven. 2 Corinthians 12:5 I will boast about a man like that, but I will not boast about myself, except about my weaknesses. 2 Corinthians 12:6 Even if I should choose to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will think more of me than is warranted by what I do or say, 2 Corinthians 12:7 or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 2 Corinthians 12:8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
"If I had been popular, I would've been content staying where I was and I wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere outside of my bubble where I was comfortable and happy. It just wasn't the cool thing to be trying to do anything different. And I think that that caused me to spend a lot of time alone, and spending a lot of time alone gave me a lot of time to think. And having a lot of time to think allowed me to write songs. In the real world, if you have something about yourself that's different, you're lucky; it's not a curse." - Taylor Swift (Best Buy @ 15)

What is Taylor Swift’s dispute with her old label? But Swift’s behind-the-scenes moves became front-page news when Big Machine sold to private-equity group Ithaca Holdings, an entity owned by powerhouse music manager Scooter Braun. He then sold her masters to another company, Shamrock Holdings, for a reported $300 million in 2019. On a business level, Braun’s move was smart: Swift’s master recordings reap profits whenever the songs are streamed or bought. On the personal front, it was contentious: Swift claims Braun, who manages stars like Kanye West and Justin Bieber, has repeatedly bullied her, and so she slammed the sale publicly and promised to rerecord those original six albums, this time with the masters under her own control. Anyone who hits play on an old version of Swift’s early songs right now will still pay into the bank of Braun. https://time.com/5949979/why-taylor-swift-is-rerecording-old-albums/

The earliest uses of the phrase “May the 4th Be With You” that we have evidence for date from 1978, one year after the release of Star Wars: A New Hope. By then, Star Wars was firmly established within American popular culture and became “like a handshake,” as Professor Leo Braudy would later comment in the documentary, Empire of Dreams. That summer of ’78, clever newspaper writers used the phrase as a gimmick to mark Independence Day celebrations on the Fourth of July. “May the Force be with you,” as heard in A New Hope, had been appearing on licensed (and unlicensed) buttons, posters, and various items for months, enough to convince those writers that the joke would be well-received by their readers. In 2011, Lucasfilm began to take a more active role in the unofficial holiday, helping sponsor and promote events and sharing resources for free use. We started to see “May the 4th Be With You” on local television news, at the grocery store, coffee house, bookstore, or sports game. Each time the holiday came back around, it felt like Star Wars was re-emerging in the mainstream, perhaps not unlike how it had become that “handshake” back in the late 1970s. Lucasfilm’s acquisition in 2012 and the subsequent announcement of new films going into production came like lightning from a clear sky for a lot of us fans. Star Wars was center stage again, and everywhere we saw T-shirts and bumper stickers and advertisements. The new films, series, books, comics, and games have done a great deal in fueling this surge of relevancy, but I can’t help but feel that the grassroots rise of Star Wars Day indicated that it was going to happen in some form anyway. The timeless appeal of Star Wars matched with the passion of its fans is a guarantee. https://www.starwars.com/news/may-the-4th-be-with-you-cultural-history

Touch: "Pilot" (alternatively "Tales of the Red Thread") is the first episode of Touch. It originally aired in a special preview event held January 25, 2012, on FOX.
"Today we'll send over 300 billion e-mails 19 billion text messages. Yet we'll still feel alone. The average person will say 2,250 words to 7.4 other individuals. Will these words be used to hurt or to heal? The ratio is always the same. 1 to 1.618, over and over and over again. The patterns are hidden in plain sight. You just have to know where to look. Things most people see as chaos actually follow subtle laws of behavior. Galaxies, plants, seashells. The patterns never lie. But only some of us can see how the pieces fit together. 7,080,360,000 of us live on this tiny planet. This is the story of some of those people. There's an ancient Chinese myth about the Red Thread of Fate. It says the gods have tied a red thread around every one of our ankles and attached it to all the people whose lives we're destined to touch. This thread may stretch, or tangle, but it'll never break. It's all predetermined by mathematical probability, and it's my job to keep track of those numbers, to make the connections for those who need to find each other, the ones whose lives need to touch. I was born 4,161 days ago, on October 26, 2000. I've been alive for 11 years, 4 months, 21 days and 14 hours. And in all that time I've never said a single word." - Jake/Jacob/Israel Bohm

A Web search leads Jake's father, Martin, to the Teller Institute, a rundown home at 318 West Tesla Street. Arthur Teller explains that, on his own, Jake discovered the Fibonacci sequence, a mathematical ratio concerning patterns repeated in nature: a wave's curve, a shell's spiral, segments of a pineapple. Jake sees vast connections that amount to road maps, and it's Martin's job, his destiny, to follow them for Jake.
"Imagine the unspeakable beauty of the universe he sees! No wonder he doesn't talk." - Arthur Teller on Jacob/Israel Bohm
In the 2012 television series Touch, season 1, episode 9, "Music of the Spheres", Jacob "Jake" Bohm, a mute boy who mysteriously feels the suffering of those along his path and aims to positively adjust their fates, is revealed as possibly one of the "Lamed Vav Tzadikim" by a Hasidic man. In the second season of Touch, Jake and other people who have special gifts are referred to as members of the 36; throughout the episodes they are exploited for their capabilities and are hunted down by one who believes they hold too much power. The final episode features consideration of the Kabbalah and the mystical roots of the legend of the 36. Lamedvavnik (Yiddish: למד־װאָװניק), is the Yiddish term for one of the 36 humble righteous ones or Tzadikim mentioned in kabbalah or Jewish mysticism. According to this teaching, at any given time there are at least 36 holy persons in the world who are Tzadikim. These holy people are hidden; i.e., nobody knows who they are. According to some versions of the story, they themselves may not know who they are. For the sake of these 36 hidden saints, God preserves the world even if the rest of humanity has degenerated to the level of total barbarism. This is similar to the story of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Hebrew Bible, where God told Abraham that he would spare the city of Sodom if there was a quorum of at least 10 righteous men. Since nobody knows who the Lamedvavniks are, not even themselves, every Jew should act as if he or she might be one of them; i.e., lead a holy and humble life and pray for the sake of fellow human beings. It is also said that one of these 36 could potentially be the Jewish Messiah if the world is ready for them to reveal themselves. Otherwise, they live and die as an ordinary person. Whether the person knows they are the potential Messiah is debated. (Wikipedia)

What I love about Sukkot is that it's the one Chag out of the Shalosh Regalim (three agricultural pilgrimage holidays) that hasn't really changed much since the Chorban (destruction of the second Temple). A big part of Shavuot is Bikkurim (produce offerings of the first fruit), but we can't bring Bikkurim anymore because we don't have a Beit HaMikdash (Holy Temple). A big part of Pesach is the Korban Pesach (Pascal lamb), but we can't bring Korbanot anymore because again, the Beit HaMikdash was destroyed. But Sukkot.....the essence of Sukkot is living in a Sukkah and shaking the Lulav and Etrog, and we can still do that! Yes, there are Korbanot associated with Sukkot, but they're not the main thing. The main thing is living in a Sukkah and shaking Lulav, just as our ancestors have done for thousands of years unchanging. I think it's such a beautiful and bittersweet thing.

The Unique List of Revelation 7 & Firstfruits
written by Will Schumacher
Revelation 7 has a unique list of tribes that form the 144,000 sealed:
Revelation 7:4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
5 Of the tribe of Judah were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand.
6 Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nephthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand.
7 Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand.
8 Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.
Missing is Ephraim and Dan. Included is Levi and Joseph. Joesph’s two sons Manasseh and Ephraim are typically used in place of Joseph.
The gematria of the unusual list in Greek is 8480 in-text as written:
Judah 485
Reuben 630
Gad 8
Asher 309
Naphtali 650
Mannasseh 500
Simeon 1495
Levi 445
Issachar 912
Zebulon 1360
Joseph 1518
Benjamin 168
8480 ft = 2584.7 meters or 2585 if you round it off. Strong’s H2585 = Enoch
Enoch is a type of the Church.
The above is something I have posted on before and have always found interesting. What is next blew my mind away.
Let’s look at the Hebrew gematria then.
I added up the gematria of the 12 tribes camping around the Tabernacle in Numbers 2.
The total gematria is 3390. (Ephraim 331, Manasseh 395, Benjamin 152, Dan 54, Asher 501, Naphtali 570, Judah 30, Issachar 530, Zebulon 95, Reuben 259, Simeon 466, Gad 7)
Strong’s H3390 = Jerusalem.
New Jerusalem in the Bible is the Bride. The Numbers 2 encampment of the tribes around the tabernacle/the place where God dwells is a picture of New Jerusalem.
When you take the Numbers 2 encampment and the gematria of the tribes of 3390 and take out Ephraim and Dan and their gematria of 331 and 54 and add in the gematria of Joseph and Levi of 156 and 46 to reflect the list of Revelation 7 you get 3207.
3390-331-54+156+46 = 3207.
The number 3207 is quite fascinating.
The 144,000 of Revelation 7 are sealed. The 144,000 of Revelation 14 are called “firstfruits”.
The firstfruits are the 7 species of Israel found in Deuteronomy 8:8. The gematria of this verse is 3207:
Deuteronomy 8:8 A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey;
So the 144,000 sealed have a Hebrew Gematria of 3207. The 144,000 are called firstfruits. The firstfruits of Israel are listed once in the bible in a verse with a gematria of 3207. Interesting.
From Wikipedia about the first fruits:
“Shavuot was also the first day on which individuals could bring the Bikkurim (first fruits) to the Temple in Jerusalem (Mishnah Bikkurim 1:3). The Bikkurim were brought from the Seven Species for which the Land of Israel is praised: wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives, and dates (Deut. 8:8).
In the largely agrarian society of ancient Israel, Jewish farmers would tie a reed around the first ripening fruits from each of these species in their fields. At the time of harvest, the fruits identified by the reed would be cut and placed in baskets woven of gold and silver. The baskets would then be loaded on oxen whose horns were gilded and laced with garlands of flowers, and who were led in a grand procession to Jerusalem. As the farmer and his entourage passed through cities and towns, they would be accompanied by music and parades.[9]”
Notice from the above story that the firstfruits were marked just like we are marked or sealed with the Spirit and the 144,000 are sealed in the book of Revelation.
We are the firstfruits marked by the Spirit. The 144,000 is the completed Church.

(via Intersex and Trans Jewish Lives - JewThink) Intersex in the Talmud
So what does Judaism have to say about intersex & trans? There are no less than seven sexes listed in Talmud. Other than zachar (male) and nekivah (female) there are:
1. Androgynous: having characteristics of both males and females, in some ways similar to both and some ways to neither (Mishnah Bikkurim 4:1).
2. Tumtum: ambiguous sex (Bikkurim 4:5).
3. Aylonit: no breasts, low libido, no mons pubis, and a deep voice that is indistinguishable from that of a man (Mishneh Torah, Hil. Ishus, 2:6).
4. Saris Hamah – a non-reproductive male.
5. Saris Adam, a man who becomes non-reproductive through human interference (Tosefta Yevamot 10:3.6).
By Martin Dimaggio Martin is a community development worker who provides training for public sector organisations on various aspects of LGBTI+ rights, including intersex and neurodiversity, as well as being an advocate for religious literacy among LGBTI+ communities. He is a member of the Society for Humanistic Judaism and grew up in Hereford and Worcester to a mixed British-Italian-Albanian family. He is also a sociolinguist with a Masters in Language Documentation for endangered languages and has a BA in Anthropology and Community Development. He has previously worked with the CPS to improve the police force’s response to hate crime reports from marginalised communities.

1 Chronicles 7: 6-13. "The Lord's Gage."
Tumblr media
Benjamin "The Right Hand."
We show deference to the right side because the Torah specifies to use the right side on various occasions.21 The Me'iri22 explains that the right side represents the side of good, and by giving it precedence we remind ourselves to follow the right path. Kabbalistically, the right side represents the side of chesed (kindness), which is supposed to prevail over the left side, which represents gevurah (discipline).23
6 Three sons of Benjamin:
Bela, Beker and Jediael.
Bela= "To snake one's prey"
Beker= Adam and Eve
The verb בכר (bakar) means to be born first or rise early or earliest. The masculine noun בכור (bekor) describes the firstborn or eldest son, and the feminine counterpart בכירה (bekira) describes the first-born daughter. Noun בכרה (bekora) refers to the right of the first-born. Noun בכורים (bikkurim) means first fruits. Noun בכורה (bikkura) refers to the first ripe fig; a proverbial delicacy.
Jediael=What is known of God.
7 The sons of Bela:
Ezbon, Uzzi, Uzziel, Jerimoth and Iri, heads of families—five in all. Their genealogical record listed 22,034 fighting men.
Ezbon=
אזן
The verb אזן ('azan) means to balance or equalize. Noun מאזן (m'zn) describes a merchant's scale or balance and noun אזן ('ozen) means ear. The denominative verb אזן ('azan) means to harken or hear and obviously describes the turning of one's face to where sound comes from.
Uzzi=strength, fierceness
Uzziel= God is my strength
Jerimoth=the High Place is the death of pride
Iri= To be bare and also to accumulate.
22034=
"This is the Lord's Gage, what is perceived with the eyes, to be seen, visited and understood."
5 Heads= the Five Levels of Consciousness which unclothe the body from its ignorance and add to it the soul's proper Godly adornment:
The soul enclothed within the body is a reflection of the Divine Form, called the tzelem, or tzelem Elokim. This tzelem Elokim may be described as the spiritual mold of man's physical form, linking his body and soul. This mold is derived from the configuration of the sefirot, which structure the worlds through which the soul descends on its journey down into the body.…man includes all of Creation within him…
At the same time that the soul's outer dimension reflects the configuration of the sefirot, the inner dimension of the soul reflects the Infinite Light, which illuminates the sefirot. This reflection is called the demut Elokim (the image of G‑d). Thus man includes all of Creation within him, from the loftiest spirituality to the most mundane physicality.
Viewed from the point of view of man's service to G‑d, these levels of soul may be described as five ascending levels of awareness of, and communion with, G‑d. They are called (in ascending order) Nefesh, Ruach, Neshama, Chaya and yechida.
Regarding these levels of soul, the Zohar states that when a person is born, he is given a Nefesh from the world of Asiya, the lowest world, representing the greatest concealment of G‑d. If, through his divine service and proper action, he makes himself worthy, he is then given Ruach on the plane of Yetzira.
With greater effort, he can earn the revelation of Neshama, paralleling the world of Beriya. If he purifies himself greatly, he may be able to attain the level of Chaya paralleling Atzilut, and even yechida — the G‑d consciousness of the level of Adam Kadmon and beyond. ("Beyond," because the level of soul called yechida in essence transcends all the worlds, since it is never separated from G‑d. It is described as being "truly part of G‑d above," and as "a spark of the Creator enclothed within a spark of the created").
8 The sons of Beker: "The Firstborn."
Zemirah, Joash, Eliezer, Elioenai, Omri, Jeremoth, Abijah, Anathoth and Alemeth. All these were the sons of Beker. 9 Their genealogical record listed the heads of families and 20,200 fighting men.
Zemirah=
זמר
Verb זמר (zamar) basically means to cultivate and is used in two main ways: (a) to prune trees in an orchard or vineyard, and (b) to hone a crowd into a choir.
Joash=
יאש
The verb יאש (ya'ash) means to despair and is pretty much parallel with the English verb to despair. It occurs less than a dozen times in the Bible (Jeremiah 2:25. Isaiah 57:10).
Eliezer= God will help, but through His servants, like Eliezer served Abraham.
Elionai=Unto Yah Are My Eyes, Yah The God Of My Eyes
*Recall in the movie, "Call me by your name" the older scumbag "the Oliver" or olive tree, kept trying to get the son, "the sun" Elio, to switch names with him-this was idolatry ripe ruff and ready. He even tried to put the Fruit of the Tree right back up inside and that was just wrong.
This process of Seeing God, of committing all one sees to understanding the wiles of God is called "Elioenai". To reverse the view is unholy. We are always what is planted and grows by the sufferance of the Light, never ever the other way around.
Omri= "to be bound to that which one worships"
עמר
The root עמר ('amar) means to grip or bind, to deal tyrannically with, or to be enthralled by and worship.
Noun עמר ('omer) means sheaf or describes a unit of measure (like our "bushel"). Denominative verb עמר ('amar) means to bind in sheaves. Noun עמיר ('amir) denotes a row of fallen grain.
Jeremoth= pride, not arrogance
Abijah= "The Alpha Male"
אב
The noun אב ('ab) means father, but describes primarily a social relationship rather than a biological one. That social fatherhood was the defining quality of the community's alpha male, the one around whom all economy revolved and from whom emanated all instructions by which the 'sons' (בן, ben) operated. It's unclear where this word אב ('ab) comes from but the verb abu means to decide.
Anathoth="the answers to afflictions":
ענה
There are four verbs of the form ענה ('nh), or perhaps one verb with four distinct usages:
Verb ענה ('ana I) means to answer, respond or correspond, and since in the old world time was considered a cycle, noun עת ('et) means time. Temporal adverb עתה ('atta) means now; adjective עתי ('itti) means timely or ready, and conjunction יען (ya'an) means on account of. Noun מענה (ma'aneh) means an answer and noun ענה ('ona) means cohabitation.
Verb ענה ('ana II) means to be busy or occupied with. Noun ענין ('inyan) means occupation or task, and noun מענה (ma'ana) means place for or agent of a task.
Verb ענה ('ana III) means to afflict, oppress or humble. Noun ענו ('anaw) refers to the poor, afflicted or needy. Noun ענוה ('anawa) means humility. Noun ענות ('enut) means affliction. Adjective עני ('ani) means poor or afflicted. Noun עני ('oni) means affliction or poverty, and noun תענית (ta'anit) means humiliation.
Verb ענה ('ana IV) means to sing.
Alemeht="Alem" what He veils from sight, "the secret"
10 The son of Jediael:
Bilhan=
Verb בלה (bala) means to wear out, annul or use until worthlessness. Adjective בלה (baleh) means worn out. Noun בלוא (belo) describes worn out things or rags. Noun תבלית (tablit) means annihilation or destruction.
The sons of Bilhan:
Jeush, Benjamin, Ehud, Kenaanah, Zethan, Tarshish and Ahishahar. 11 All these sons of Jediael were heads of families. There were 17,200 fighting men ready to go out to war.
Jeush=Yah helps
Benjamin=the Right Hand
Ehud=
הוד  ידה
The related verbs ידה (yada), to praise, and הוד (hod), to be worthy of praise, conjugate into such similar forms that it's often not clear which verb in which tense is used. From the verb ידה (yada), to praise, come:
The plural noun הידות (huyyedot), meaning songs of praise.
The noun תודה (toda), meaning confession or praise.
From the verb הוד (hod), meaning to be praise-worthy, comes the noun הוד (hod), meaning splendor, majesty, vigor, glory or honor.
Kenaanah=
כנע
The verb כנע (kana') means to synchronize, or to give up individual leanings in order to unite more effectively as a group. Noun כנעה (kin'a) means bundle or pack.
Zethan=
זהה
It's not clear whether the verb זהה (zaha) or זתת (zatat) ever existed but if it did it probably meant to emerge fresh or bloom (it does so in cognate languages). Note that a flower contains a plant's reproductive organs and by displaying its flowers a plant indicates its willingness and readiness to reproduce. In our modern times flowers have managed to attain a kind of romantic innocence but their native function and original symbolism is that of sexual union (which is why dudes bring flowers), or rather more general: the willingness and ability of being fruitful.
Tarshish= His Excellency Breaking, Subjection White Dove, Search For Alabaster Courage, Confidence.
שש
There's an odd correlation between the color white and the number six. The nouns שש (shesh) and שיש (shayish) mean alabaster, which is a whitish translucent material. The identical word שש (shesh) means six. The noun שושן (shushan) describes the lily, which has six leaves and is proverbially white. The adjective ישש (yashesh) or ישיש (yashish) means old or white-haired.
The relatively rare verb שוש (sus) or שיש (sis) means to exult or rejoice, and its nouns ששון (sason) and משוש (masos) mean exultation, joy or gladness. Despite their similarity to the previous, these words seem to have little to do with the number six or being white, which is possibly why these words were pointed differently in the Middle Ages (the previous words have sh-sounds while these words have s-sounds).
Ahishahar= Brother of the Eclipse- to see life as God and others see it, consistent with the Gematria for this section. Without the quality of Ahishahar, kindness is not possible, but is automatic when the little sun inside the mind is eclipsed by the moon, a satellite mirror of the sun's light.
שחר
The verb שחר (shahar) means to be black or dark (mostly of skin, hair and horses). The adjective שחר (shahor) means black, and adjective שחרחר (sheharhor) means blackish. Nouns שחור (shehor) and שחרות (shaharut) mean blackness.
The noun שחר (shahar) is generally thought to mean dawn, but here at Abarim Publications we find that unlikely (for our reasoning, follow the link at the foot of this paragraph, to the full Dictionary article). Instead, we propose that this noun describes a solar eclipse, which occurs when an invisible moon moves in front of the sun and blocks out its light. This causes a brief and unexpected moment of nightly darkness, which in turn makes the stars and planets visible.
An observer can see other people, but she cannot see what they see. This means that the sun she sees is hers alone, and equal to her own ratio. A solar eclipse also eclipses one's own solar ratio and reveals the many ratios of other people. This awakens one's stellar consciousness, or Theory of Mind, which counts as being "born from above" (John 3:3). These events are obviously mimicked in the Biblical accounts of the crucifixion and resurrection.
From the noun שחר (shahar), solar eclipse, derives the denominative verb שחר (shahar), meaning to diligent search for God and wisdom; again qualities of a stellar consciousness.
17200=
"I bind you with mirrors."
12 The Shuppites and Huppites were the descendants of Ir, and the Hushites[a] the descendants of Aher.
Naphtali "To struggle for what is just"
פתל
The verb פתל (patal) means to twist or contort, or even to be cunning or crafty. Noun פתיל (patil) describes (a twisted) cord or thread. Adjective פתלתל (petaltol) means tortuous. Plural noun נפתולים (naptulim) means wrestlings or contortions, obviously with a cognitive connotation.
13 The sons of Naphtali:
Jahziel, Guni, Jezer and Shillem[b]—the descendants of Bilhah.
Jahziel="The Allotment of the Lord"
Guni= "Garden Wall."
גנן The verb גנן (ganan) means to surround, cover or defend. Nouns גן (gan) and גנה (ganna) mean garden. Noun מגן (magen) means shield and verb מגן (magan) means to shield or deliver.
Jezer=to form or shape
Shillem=to make whole or complete.
The Gage, or the "object of faith" is to see oneself simultaneous to God looking back. First we need to grow up, develop our physical capacity to learn. This happens just when that which makes us stupid, the snake penis, comes lurking around. This is what is meant by "snake the prey to know what is known."
God told Adam and Eve not to listen to Adam's penis, it did not know what it was doing with the rest of its life but the did not listen and God became angry. Later in the Torah God says "if thou arest prepared to be upright, now thou mayest eat of the cake of the penis."
Tumblr media
Come what may, all we need to do to be sin free, to be able to do what we want is to be affectionate. To be gracious and kind is to become bound in the mirror with God. It is the one thing you can do to make life, "the allotment of God", complete.

Parashat Ki Tavo
by Meir Anolick
Written for Shabbat Parashat Ki Tavo, יח באלול תשע”ד:
This week’s Parasha starts off with the well-known section of theBikkurim, first fruits. The first few verses constitute the main section of the Pesach Haggadah. These provide a concise summary of how we went down to Mitzrayim, were enslaved there, and then were brought out and brought to Eretz Yisrael to be the nation of Hashem.
However, before this whole narrative begins, there is one other line that is said. Only after this line is said does the Kohen take the basket of fruit and place it before the Altar, enabling us to say the Bikkurim declaration. “You shall come to whoever will be the Kohen in those days, and you shall say to him, ‘I declare today to Hashem, your God, that I have come to the Land that Hashem swore to our forefathers to give to us.’” (26:3). Notice the phrase, “I have come”; I have done it, not that Hashem brought me here, but it was of my own choice that I came here. Though this is intended as an expression of gratitude to Hashem, I feel that the phrasing here is important.
As the saying goes, “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink”. So, too, is it with Mitzvot. Hashem brought us to the edge of the Land, gave us the opportunity to go in and take, but we refused, and we have suffered greatly for it ever since. The next time Hashem brought us to the borders of the Land, we made the right choice and took it. Yes, Hashem brought us there, and yes Hashem presented the opportunity, and yes he gave us the ability, but in the end it was our choice when we went in, and it is our choice when we refuse. Hashem gives us B’chirah Chofshit, free choice, and it is up to us to make the right choice.
Now again today, the gates to Eretz Yisrael have been opened for us. It is now easier for us to enter and live in Eretz Yisrael than it has been since Yehoshuah first led us over three thousand years ago. We have the opportunity to go, we have the ability to go, and Hashem has made it possible for us in a way it has not been for a long time, but still it is down to us to make that decision. We do not bring Bikkurim anymore because there is no longer a Beit HaMikdash nor a Kohein Gadol. However, I would posit that even if there were, we could not bring the Bikkurim until we are able to say the one line before our fruit can be placed before the altar: “I have come”, not “I was forced”, nor “I refrained from coming as long as I could”. Hashem gives us a choice, but He also makes it clear which choice is the one He desires. When there is a Beit HaMikdash again, who can bring their Bikkurim and honestly say before Hashem, the King of all Kings, “I have come”? Shabbat Shalom.

Finding Your Shidduch: Bikkurim and Basar b’Chalav
Tumblr media
The orthodox Jewish world is in the midst of a crisis, a crisis of not being able to find one’s marriage partner [shidduch]. Many young men and women are either not dating, or even if they are dating, they are having a difficult time finding that ‘perfect match’, the person with whom they are willing and wanting to raise a family and with whom they are committed to spending the rest of their lives. Why is this so? What’s at the root of this crisis? Further, is there anything we can do about it? We plan on writing, ב"ה, a series of articles to answer these questions. In this article, we will define the problem, and in future articles we will examine some solutions from the teachings of R' Nachman of Breslov.
What does the Torah’s prohibition against mixing meat with dairy (issur basar b’chalav) have to do with finding one’s shidduch? Most people would respond with a resounding, “Huh? What kind of a question is that? Obviously, they have nothing to do with each other!” However, the Torah is deep and its secrets even deeper, so let’s not be too hasty in judging the matter until we examine the subject.
To lay out the underlying problem, we will need to study a rather lengthy section from Tikkunei Zohar Tikkun 14. Instead of quoting and translating it phrase by phrase, we have reproduced the relevant section (see reverse bottom) and will rely on the Matok m’Dvash commentary to explain its meaning.
R' Shimon bar Yochai is learning the esoteric teachings of the Torah with his talmidim. In the course of discussing a particular topic, they bring up Shemot 23:19: רֵאשִׁית בִּכּוּרֵי אַדְמָתְךָ תָּבִיא בֵּית יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ לֹא־תְבַשֵּׁל גְּדִי בַּחֲלֵב אִמּוֹ (The earliest first fruits [bikkurim] of your soil you shall bring to the House of Hashem your G‑d; you shall not cook a kid [gedi] in the milk of its mother). The question is asked: What does the mitzvah of bikkurim have to do with the issur basar b’chalav? In other words, what are we to learn from the juxtaposition [semichut] of these two Biblical commandments? R' Yochanan teaches in Berachot 10a that we are to expound, i.e. derive meaning from, juxtaposed scriptural passages [semuchin], as it is written (Tehillim 111:8): סְמוּכִים לָעַד לְעוֹלָם עֲשׂוּיִם בֶּאֱמֶת וְיָשָׁר (They [i.e. Hashem’s mitzvot] are reliable [semuchim] for eternity; made in truth and uprightness). Therefore, there must be some reason for the semichut.
One way to understand the semichut is that just as the mitzvah of bikkurim only applies in Eretz Yisrael so to the issur basar b’chalav only applies in Eretz Yisrael. However, R' Shimon knew this was an incorrect conclusion, and he wanted to make sure that the correct halachah was transmitted and that no confusion arose in the mesorah. For it is written explicitly in a Tosefta at the beginning of the 8th chapter of Chullin: בשר בחלב נוהג בארץ ובח"ל בפני הבית ושלא בפני הבית בחולין ובמוקדשים ([The issur] basar b’chalav applies in Eretz Yisrael and outside of Eretz Yisrael, in the Temple and when not in the Temple, with unconsecrated meat and with consecrated meat). Further, the Rashbam (see Tosafot on Chullin 103b) specifically explained that this teaching is necessary because without it, one might erroneously conclude based on a comparison with the law of bikkurim that the issur basar b’chalav only applies in Eretz Yisrael.
So what did R' Shimon do? He quickly summoned Eliyahu ha-Navi to come down from Heaven—with permission from Hashem—to join them in order to shed light on the matter. He needed Eliyahu to come with the permission of Heaven, i.e. dressed in a body like a Tanna and Torah Sage, so that he will be able to decide the halachah conclusively. What did Eliyahu say?
Eliyahu explained that the semichut is indeed important, but it has nothing to do with concluding (erroneously) that the issur basar b’chalav only pertains to Eretz Yisrael. He said that the secret has to do with the laws of forbidden mixtures, i.e. kilayim. The verse in question is Devarim 22:10: לֹא־תַחֲרֹשׁ בְּשׁוֹר־וּבַחֲמֹר יַחְדָּו (You are not to plow with an ox and donkey together). The reason why the Torah prohibits plowing with an ox and a donkey at the same time is because an ox is kodesh while the donkey is tamei. We are not to mix the two together because, in the upper worlds, it will lead to the ‘external forces’ nourishing off of the kedushah. The semichut is to teach that if the Jews are negligent in observing the mitzvah of bikkurim, they will unwittingly cause basar to be cooked with chalav. What does that mean? Chalav being white is chesed and basar being red is gevurah. Since the two are not from the same root, this mixture will result in a nullification of the chesed by the gevurah. This parallels the prohibition against plowing with an ox and a donkey. Both laws are based on the same principle of forbidden mixtures, i.e. kilayim. Here, specifically, the prohibition is against benefiting from mixtures that are min b’she’eino mino [one type mixed with another that is not of the same type].
But R' Shimon raised an important distinction. An ox and a donkey are certainly not of the same type. The ox is a kosher animal, i.e. it is pure [tahor], whereas the donkey is non-kosher, i.e. it is impure [tamei]. So truly, this is kilayim of the good with the bad and thus forbidden. But basar and chalav are both kosher. They are both tahor. He argued that chalav is chesed d’kedushah and basar is gevurah d’kedushah. Why should this be forbidden? Shouldn’t the chesed sweeten the din of the gevurah as opposed to be nullified by it?
Eliyahu states that R’ Shimon’s logic would be correct under normal circumstances; however, the verse itself is coming to teach a different secret. And what is that secret? Even with issues of kedushah, we are not allowed to mix min b’she’eino mino. Where do we learn this secret? From Bereshit 1:24: וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים תּוֹצֵא הָאָרֶץ נֶפֶשׁ חַיָּה לְמִינָהּ (And G‑d said, let the land bring forth a living soul [not ‘living creatures’ as in most translations] according to its kind). The land is the sefirah of malchut, the origin of the soul of Yisrael, the ‘living soul’. The phrase ‘according to its kind’ indicates that each soul emerges from its source as a unique pair made up of male and female. In other words, the paired souls are one min [type] from one root. And even though they are both tahor, they emerge from their source as a pair, a zivug. And they come down to this world in pairs. Therefore, each male needs to find its zivug in order to join with each other exactly as they were when they emerged from the sefirah of malchut, the source of Jewish souls.
However, if someone doesn’t merit to find and marry his zivug, and he ends up marrying another woman instead, and then a son is born from that union, that son is considered a graft, i.e. a ‘mixture’ from two separate sources. And that’s why the Torah teaches that, in that case, we are not to cook a gedi in its mother’s milk. The baby boy is called a gedi. And the verse refers to the relationship as his mother’s milk because she’s not from the same root as his father because the mother and the father have no soul-relationship with each other. In a deep sense, they really have nothing to do with each other; they don’t belong to each other. As a result, the Torah’s concern is that the son won’t be brought up well, i.e. won’t be cooked right. Even though they are both tahor, i.e. they are both holy Jewish souls, but not from the same root, the mixture is forbidden.
R' Shimon emphatically stated that Eliyahu had correctly explained the esoteric secret behind the issur basar b’chalav. He then added his own chiddush based on Shemot 22:28: מְלֵאָתְךָ וְדִמְעֲךָ לֹא תְאַחֵר (Do not delay m’lei’atecha and dimacha). Understood to refer to one’s bikkurim and terumah (even Rashi admits that he doesn’t understand how dimacha refers to terumah), their literal meanings are ‘your fullness’ and ‘your teardrop’. The word m’lei’atecha, i.e. your fullness, refers to one’s zivug, the paired soul that fills and completes the essence of one’s half-soul (just as Chavah completed Adam’s half-soul). And the word dimacha, ‘your tear drop’, is a reference to one’s holy seed that one is to give to his zivug in order to bring forth holy offspring. The expression ‘don’t delay’ teaches that one is not to postpone marriage. Why not? One might, G-d forbid, come to emit his seed in vain or give his first drop to a niddah, a maidservant, a non-Jew or an adulterous woman, all of which are synonyms for Lilit, the unholy zivug of the Samech-Mem, the Primordial Serpent. What’s the concern? The concern is that she would snatch or kidnap the drops and create from them impure klipot that would nourish from the kedushah and wreck havoc in all the worlds. If this isn’t bad enough, these actions could cause another man’s prayers to become effective and award him the merit to take the first man’s zivug, G‑d forbid, as it is taught by Shmuel in Moed Katan 18b: שֶׁמָּא יִקְדְּמֶנּוּ אַחֵר בְּרַחֲמִים (Perhaps another would preempt him through Divine mercy, i.e. through prayer). And all of this would be middah k’neged middah [tit for tat]. How so? Since the first man preempted his first seed by giving it to someone who was not his zivug, so another man comes along and preempts his wife, thus taking someone who is not his zivug.
And even if he merits to marrying his zivug, she will cause him no end of grief. How do we know this? This comes from a famous exposition on Bereshit 2:18: וַיֹּאמֶר יְיָ אֱלֹקִים לֹא־טוֹב הֱיוֹת הָאָדָם לְבַדּוֹ אֶעֱשֶׂה־לּוֹ עֵזֶר כְּנֶגְדּוֹ (And Hashem G‑d said, ‘It is not good that the man be alone; I will make for him a helper opposed to him [ezer k’negdo]). R' Elazar asks in Yevamot 63a: So what is she, a helper or an opponent? He answers: זָכָה עוֹזַרְתּוֹ לֹא זָכָה כְּנֶגְדּוֹ (If he merits, she helps [ezer] him; if he doesn’t merit, she opposes [k’neged] him). Or as Rashi says on Bereshit 2:18: זָכָה עֵזֶר לֹא זָכָה כְּנֶגְדּוֹ לְהִלָּחֵם (If he merits, she is a ezer; if he doesn’t merit, she opposes him [k’negdo], to make war with him). Putting this together with the Tikkunei Zohar we have learning, we now may understand what determines his merit. If he guards his brit then he merits marrying his zivug, and she will fulfill the role of ezer to help him in learning Torah and fulfilling mitzvot with love and reverence. She will be his ezer in this world and in the world to come. But if he doesn’t guard his brit, then even if he merits to marrying her, she will be k’neged him in these four aspects and cause him to lose out in the two worlds. What a series of multiple tragedies! And this whole mess happens only because a young man blemished his brit when he was a bachelor.
Can anything spare us from this terrible fate? Yes, the earliest bikkurim of your soil (see Shemot 23:19 above). Bring your bikkurim, i.e. your first drops of seed, to the House of Hashem. And what is the ‘House’ of Hashem? It is one’s wife, the true ‘house’ that Hashem assigned for the man from the beginning when they emerged together from the source of souls. Therefore, if a young man guards his brit, he won’t cause the gedi, i.e. the son, to be cooked, i.e. to be reared, in the milk of its mother, the son being a mixture that comes from a woman that is min b’she’eino mino to his father. This is the deep, esoteric answer to the existence of the semichut in Shemot 23:19.
Let’s now be honest. These days, how many young men have guarded their brit in the manner in which we have just explained? Very few people will speak of it, but this is the real reason behind the shidduch crisis in the orthodox Jewish world today.
But don’t despair. There is hope. With G-d’s help, in the next issue, we will address the issue of what can be done if someone was not so careful to guard his brit. Is there any tikkun [repair/fix] by which he can still merit his zivug who will be an ezer to him? The short answer is that he will need to do teshuvah (and this can be effective even in the case when his zivug was taken by another man), as the prophet wrote (Yeshayah 6:10): שָׁב וְרָפָא לוֹ (Do teshuvah and He will heal him).
