I don't think enough people realize that this is officially a Huskerdust song now.
Like, ik the songs not really canon, but it was sung by Blake Roman with Angel Dust in mind, and the lyrics clearly talk about another person bringing love into his life. I wonder who that could be 👀
Fuck it, I wanna talk about it more so I'm quoting my fave lines.
"Push me, pull me, write my story
Give me my rhythm, my rhyme
I break my cycles, endless spirals
I just wanna trust what is mine"
At first, I thought he was talking about Val because we see Val push and pull him with a literal chain. And I'm actually not fully sure what these lyrics are conveying. But think the beginning is talking about Val forcing his story, and then starting at "I break my cycles", is Husk helping Angel break his spirals and choose his own story. This is backed up by the fact that next lyrics are very positive and have a very loving feeling to them.
"If sun's in the sky
If the day follows the night
If the clock's still keeping time
Then you're on my mind"
I just find this super sweet. If I don't see Angel YEARNING in this show, I'm rioting.
"The silence that we share
My heart wasn't prepared
I oversimplified when it was do or I die
Kiss me, hold me, that feeling is holy
Nobody's loved me like you"
YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND! Angel hasn't felt that way for someone in a long, long time. Maybe even centuries. Other than Cherri, he probably hasn't been looked at as more than a sex object in a long time. Husk was the first time someone liked him away from his body.
"I'll hold onto the life I craft
So one day I can give it back"
Before this in the song, Angel was talking about how he doesn't know when he or others would die and he was always prepared to die so he wouldn't get attached to people to protect himself and the ones he loved. This last lyric might be to everyone he cares about in his life. He wants to give his life back to the ones he cares about, so they won't hurt.
Ty for listening to my Ted talk. Imma go read some angst fics now.
There's just something so kind and lovely about WBY ready to wholeheartedly accept Ruby for whatever she chooses to come back as, that no matter what happens Ruby is still their family and they will love her all the same and there is literally no force in the universe that will break them apart like-- they are stuck in the world of dreams and terror and the exit is there but they will protect Ruby with every ounce of their being from the cat, they will give her the time to figure whatever it is out and there is literally no doubt in their minds that they will be there for her like
The situation is fucked, Ruby was pushed to the brink and her team bore the brunt of her frustrations and Ruby is sorry and her team is sorry but there's this unquestionable love that wraps around it all like a blanket and the very essence of their relationship is how much they care about each other and I think that's so special
The funny thing about the Bumbleby height difference is that it’s slight enough that Blake and Yang normally don’t really notice or think about it. Until Blake, who is used to being taller than a lot of her friends, decides she wants to do something cool like pin Yang to a wall and loom over her all suave and seductive.
And discovers all too late that she just can’t, QUITE get the effect she’s going for.
honestly the #1 positive affirmation I need to give myself every day is that it's ok to make and share art that you yourself consider mediocre. whatever, not everything has to be a masterful display of skill plus who knows. there may always be some person out there whom it really speaks to even if you yourself don't like it that much
Am I the only one who thinks some of the 'joke' x reader content is kind of meanspirited?
I've seen a few posts and stuff that are 'x reader' or otherwise selfshipping content that seem fine on the surface but end up involving something like the character slapping the reader, being generally very mean to the reader, then running off with a different character.
And I mean, I know it's probably a joke or a meme of some kind, but it feels very much like the 'content equivalent' of the people who go into your asks and start spouting nonsense about how 'so and so doesn't really love you' or whatever.
It just feels very much like the people who make those posts are trying to make the people who selfship with those characters feel bad, right? I'm not the only one who thinks this is a bit rude/mean? I'm not just taking a joke/meme too seriously?
Dumb/Dramatic/Gay Shit that Blake and Yang probably do while sparring:
-
Blake really likes the IDEA of stylishly tying Yang up in her ribbon so that she can dramatically pull her partner into an embrace and/or pin her to the floor or wall.
Unfortunately, Blake can never seem to get it quite right. Despite her otherwise seemingly supernatural skill in sending Gambol Shroud exactly where she needs it, whenever she tries using it to tie up Yang, she always does something stupid like hitting her girlfriend in the face and/or boobs, accidentally yanking off her prosthetic arm, or that one time GS went around Yang’s neck and almost strangled her.
Obviously Yang doesn’t hold it against her one bit, but Blake still feels super awful and embarrassed about it.
And the one time Blake tried it while they were up-close, she ended up getting them BOTH tangled up and tied together with her ribbon so badly they ended up being stuck for the better part of an hour before Ruby and Weiss found them.
-
Meanwhile, sometimes in the middle of a spar, Yang will just catch the blade of Gambol Shroud with her prosthetic hand. She then tends to either use that to get Blake off-balance to pull her into a hug (generally followed by smooching) or getting Blake into a pin (also generally followed by smooching).
Alternatively, Yang just holds Gambol Shroud in place as the fight comes to a pause, gently caressing the blade with her own metal fingers as she and Blake gaze into each other’s eyes.
And it always makes Blake go weak in the knees.
-
Finally, given their mutual fixation on their ‘Rivals/Enemies-to-Lovers’ roleplaying, both Blake and Yang REALLY like the idea of two rivals trading weapons mid-fight, being so intimately familiar with each other that they can use the other’s weapon just as well as their own.
Unfortunately, Blake and Yang have since discovered that this trope simply does not work with their respective fighting styles.
Simply put, Yang is NOT well-versed in swords, and Blake is NOT well-versed in punching.
Also, they have discovered to their disappointment that Yang’s gauntlets aren’t exactly easy to ‘drop’ or otherwise ‘fall off’ mid-fight. Particularly given that one of Yang’s gauntlets is kind of built into her right arm.
Blake and Yang did try one idea once that involved them trying to ‘trade’ the bladed-scabbard of Gambol Shroud and the left gauntlet of Ember Celica mid-fight.
It… did NOT go well.
Having been observing at the time, Weiss considers it to be by far one of the DUMBEST things she’s ever seen, while Ruby considers it one of the funniest.
Because Blake has met scary, has been together with scary, has even loved scary. Blake had stood by scary’s side for years, left her family for scary, thinking that “yes, he’s scary, but not to me.” until he became scary to her, until he started plaguing her dreams and then came and tried to plague her life too, to turn it into a living nightmare.
So when Blake says that Yang isn’t scary, it isn’t for lack of trying to find the scary. It’s because Blake has looked at Yang, truly looked at her for years now, has learned so much of what makes Yang Yang, and in all her searching she has never, not for once, found anything to be scared of. She looks at Yang, and she thinks “Yeah, she might look scary, but she’s the furthest thing from it.”
