Red White Blue

Remember the red that watered the ground, from it sprouted the freedom we cherish. Through their valor and hardiness, a country was won and freedom was gained.

Well! With me leaving my job, I was uncertain if I would be able to continue acquiring bags of feed for free, so I sat down and took a long look at what I had and what I wanted, and made some decisions.

I called the friend I normally give feeders to, and said that I would keep the blacks for her, and enough of them to provide her with the live pinks she needs, if she can get me feed. She said would, so FOR NOW the black line is staying. F7 was just weaned, and I will be doing a second round for them from the F6 dams. However, round 2 will be outcrossed to a Taylor buck, to try to help with the belly fur problem the black line is having, where they have randomly sparse belly fur. Not ideal. So we'll take a step back and put up with some white toes in order to get that fixed.

The siamese line I almost completely rehomed to a different breeder. Most of them were old and not breeding well because I have been focusing on the black line. HOWEVER, I held onto 2 young does, and the black buck that carries the cch gene, so if I want them back, I can reboot them in the next few months. I don't know if I will, but I can.

The splash line I also rehomed completely to another breeder. I actually didn't really intend to have splashes in the first place, they were a mid step between siamese and tricolor, and the tricolors may spit some out still. I did keep one pet doe who is heavily marked, because I really like how the heavy marked splashes look.

I weeded the siamese tricolor line down to just 2 trio harems and sent the rest to another breeder. Both my harems have litters right now, and I'm going to be working with them a little more to try to get them into breeding shape. They keep spitting out way too many boys. The splash girls I picked up today are the right colors to experiment with some of the excess boys and see if I can pull tricolor out of a line that will throw more girls for me.

I also kept the PA tricolors because of sunk cost fallacy. I've put so much into them, and they still need a lot of work to even like... be healthy. I want to see that through. So I kept 2 trio harems of them as well, and moved the rest to pet home since they're not breeding quality.

I kept a couple of pet mice as well, to keep in the Big cage. It's got the 2 siamese does, the roan lady (and now her daughter), a black tan, the dark splash, one I think of as oreo splash even though that's not a thing but idk what she is, and the black doe that carries siamese.

I continue to definitely not have a blue trio.
