Why kill yourself? It’s getting late. You’ll regret it in the morning for sure. May as well wait. And meanwhile, if you like, you can regret waiting. Do you really want to trade this dream to the night? You won’t find your way back. I’m not saying the impulse isn’t understandable — who doesn’t want to die sometimes? Still, some of us find out the hard way. The night my brother took cyanide I was downstairs getting high. Imagine my regret, waking up and realizing it wasn’t a dream. That hit harder than any chemical; I thought it’d never end. The air was heavy the next morning, cold clinging to my skin. Suffocating felt nostalgic, like a farewell to empathy. That ended, eventually, but I’m still afraid — afraid of falling asleep and waking up in another story like that. But it’s better to go to sleep remembering there’s more left to dream — better than killing yourself I mean. Death is only one freedom; life has many kinds. We didn’t choose how it begins but may get to choose the end. There are people here I will always want to be close with. Staying means choosing them. When I don’t choose to be me, the world loses who I could’ve been — the lazier I feel, the more essential it is to try. But when I choose myself, I get to choose the next dream. And that makes the nightmares worth it.

Rick Gomez(Luz): that’s the worst handler

Talk to us about Arnlee! How did they become friends? What do they bond over? When does each realize that they have feelings for the other? Were they afraid to tell each other how they felt or were they confident? Would they date early in life or later?
So, I'm not sure how long it's been since I got this ask! I think a couple of weeks? But I want to start by saying how much I appreciate it. Most of the asks I get are in response to ask games or are questions that are sent to lots of members of the "Bob's Burgers" fandom- and I love being included in those! But it was really nice to get an ask related to one of my fics, and particularly about Arnold/Kaylee, the rare pair that I wrote the first fic for!!
That said, one of the reasons I didn't respond sooner (in addition to being busy and forgetting about it for a while) is that I'm still sort of figuring where I want to go next with Arnlee. I literally just noticed them dancing together in "Ancient Misbehavin'" one night and wrote a little background story for it the next day- I didn't really think about where I would go from there! And since there is less to go off about them in canon, that makes it harder for me to come up with ideas for them- I like having a clear canon starting point for my stories (several of my fics are episode tags or prologues or missing scenes- including the Arnlee story!)
But here's my current line of thought for your questions:
I really do like the idea that I came up with in "The Life of the Symposium (aka Party)" for sort of being the beginning of their friendship. I see Kaylee post-"Prank You for Being A Friend" trying to be more social and still finding it difficult, but then happening to strike up a conversation with Arnold and making a connection. I think that Arnold and Kaylee are both kind of nerdy outsiders- and I think Kaylee would like Arnold because he is more comfortable in embracing his nerdy outsiderness. He's the youngest and smallest kid in his grade, he wears his karate gi to school almost everyday- but he seems remarkably confident and comfortable in his own skin. And I think Kaylee- the girl who wants to wear her wizard cape everyday- would like that. (And I think the ability to embrace being an outsider makes them a bit different from Louise and Rudy who- if they don't actually aspire to be considered cool or popular- at the very least both seem to care too damn much about what Chloe Barbash thinks of them.)
And I guess that's sort of the dynamic I imagine for them as friends- and eventually more- is as these dorky outsiders who are just kind of happy to be themselves together. I could see them inviting the other to check out their interests- Arnold inviting Kaylee to his dojo; Kaylee getting Arnold involved with the Thinkgineers. I can see them sharing nerdy creative hobbies and interests- like RPGs, maybe even LARPing.
In terms of realizing that they have feelings for each other and dating- I see that as happening when they are at the end of their Wagstaff time/entering high school (which, yeah, is also kind of what I tend to write for Louise/Rudy. I'm a sucker for childhood friends to lovers and that time just sort of seems like a logical point for that transition. Also, it's possible that I'm a little burnt out with being a single middle-aged adult and would prefer my beloved fictional characters avoid that fate...) For Arnold and Kaylee, I think it is particularly interesting because Arnold skipped a grade so he's a year or two younger than her- which means nothing when you're an adult but can mean a lot in adolescence.
I imagine Kaylee developing feelings first and being uncomfortable with and it denial of it. Even if she managed to overcome her shyness/social anxiety to connect with Arnold and others as friends- I think that the idea of trying to make a romantic connection would still be very daunting to her. As I noted during the WIP ask game, the song "Young In Love" by Sweet Nobody gives me these series "Kaylee Morganstern with a crush" vibes, and someday I hope to write a fic on that concept using lyrics from this song as a title.
Especially with Arnold being younger, I imagine him as basically being oblivious to her feelings to him. But when she eventually tells him her feelings he's totally blown away- like he hadn't even been thinking about the possibility but as soon as he finds out she's been feeling that way he's just so happy about it!
Those are my current thoughts about them- they might change at some point between now and whenever I write another fic about them! But I truly do appreciate the opportunity to think and talk some more about my beloved nerds!
Thank you so much for the ask!!

My turn,
1,16,27 please ♥️
1. Do you have freckles? - I do not, though I think I used to. I feel like I remember being a kid and having a little smattering of them come out in the summertime. Not anymore though.
16. Want any tattoos? What of? - I do not have any tattoos right now, and I've really never been sure if I want to get any. I've got a few ideas if I ever decide I do, though. Maybe a dragon somewhere. A sword maybe, if I can settle on a design I like. And this, probably:
27. What’s your favorite book? Or just one you’ve read a few times? - Oof. I used to be a big reader, but then I tried doing an English degree and got so burnt out that I've barely been able to pick up a book for pleasure since. Let's see. Nerdiest and truest possible answer is Bionicle - Adventures #10: Time Trap. Old robot man reminisces about his final days as a superhero when he defeated the Devil one-on-one (for the second time) by holding the concept of time hostage in the ruins of the city that was once his home. Good stuff.
For some at least half respectable and less niche answers? Lord of the Rings is a bit of a slog sometimes, but there's a reason everyone has at least heard of it. I liked Kennth Oppel's Silverwing books a lot as a kid, got my fondness for bats from there. I am also the kind of person who actually laughs my ass off reading shit like Plato's Symposium, and Dante's Divine Comedy. Yeah, I'm that bitch. They're so petty, it's so funny. Also, there was this one series I started reading at one point that was called Pendragon I think. Not Arthuriana related at all, it was this kid bobbing around the multiverse trying to save various worlds from falling into societal collapse and presumably save all of existence. I never finished it, and I don't really even remember if it was any good, but a lot of the ideas in it really stuck with me so that must count for something.

You know how in my GoFundMe to attend Viridis Genii Symposium I mentioned other obligations like house maintenance so I was unable to spend money on a retreat? Well, we got a new fridge to replace our dying one, installed a hood over our stove and spent almost a month struggling to replace drywall with cement backer board in the bathroom, paint and painstakingly cut this vinyl tub surround to fit the window, seal everything with silicone and reglaze the windows.
Ian B and I worked really well together on this and we are really proud. We install the shower hardware today and then kitchen and downstairs bath updates phase one will be done!
Phase two is the bathroom floor, kitchen counter and backsplash, and a few other bits and bobs.
Next up, find our perfect housemate/s!

New episode opinion. First, happy new year to the Oracle, may 2024 be a good year for us all. Secondly, I was listening to this ep on my very long bus ride, and lemme tell you, I have to bite down on my lips to not laugh like a hyena in a big bus filled with people.
I literally was thinking, damn they made a new intro, the music is so snazzy and then you dropped the bomb that we almost got Ross to make it. LMAO. Shame on Ross, sucks to be you. You could have been an intro voiceline to a cool podcast that alter the course of your career, but alas, you miss your chances.
Also, I predict that drama/fandom war is definitely gonna break out in this space soon. Because of MOTA, yes. It would be these: - gatekeeping drama. It happened to every fandom that have new material after too long a period. some people will be snobbish, it's inevitable, and new fans can be annoying, inevitable as well
-current world event. well, ya know. And war shows/movies have always been under heavy scrutiny about their portrayal of wars (as it should). This will be imo the main discourse.
I have not watched the BoB symposium, I know there is a video out there of it, I need to see that hug you guys mention.
My vision for whatever fandom drama breaks out isnt to like participate but to be like Andy on WWHL, interpret that as you will.
ALSO yeah no we were trying to if anything BOOST ross’s profile and he bit the hand so trust he will start coughing in 7 days. Also yeah ill try to find the Nola Symposium link and post it bc you just reminded me i meant to do that anyways.

i know that anon was asking your opinion on leitch which i'd like to +1 and add that he also strikes me as incredibly rude and heady with delusions of power and importance. the way he bosses around not just the whf506 staff but also the other actors and guest stars is uncute. he is also a bitch to people in the comments which blows my mind because why! he is a cringe middle aged white dad whom you can tell is always smizing for the camera which generally would be fine (and lbr not uncommon among bob cast) if he weren't also genuinely unlikable. he also gives very creepy vibes toward women. would you actually have been remiss not to stress how beautiful lucie is when she did the zoom with shane a couple yrs ago matt? would you? we all have eyes did it need to be said and in that way? quickly
uh YEAH
this asshole seems rude as fuck to everyone in such a way that I'm Shocked he continues to get people who pay to interact with him. I heard a rumor a while ago that there's beef with him and the larger cast bc of just Him Doing Him and that made So much sense bc to my recollection he and his Pod Partner were in nola for the symposium but he wasn't actually up there with everyone else. what is the truth here.
that zoom with lucie truly did ruin my life it was So uncomfortable i had to sit next to a window so i could smoke inside it made me so stressed.
#matt leitch stay away from women challenge#hate that bitch#and stop extorting people for mid level content you Barely work on

BoB bible's description of Nix and the interview with Dick about Nix made me think, Nix is like some prince or aristocracy heir, has to lower himself to the same level of commoners in the army where he found most people uninteresting, unsophisticated and unworthy of his friendship. He socialized with officers, but within the officer group he also found them boring. He didn't fit in, an "upper-class black sheep", maybe his privileged background also made others wary of him. I guess If Nix put his mind to it, he could have gained more friends, become more influential, but he just didn't bother to. Talking about indulgence, he is like the son of the privileged who has everything but still unhappy, and wants love.
Here came Dick Winters, someone Nix found interesting. The bible said Nix found Dick had purposes and same common sense re the war, and intelligence, a sense of humor and sophistication he could related to. I guess Nix thought Dick was boring too at first.
The bible said Nix found Winters as his alter-ego, they are "night and day", but Nix thought Dick a different version of himself? haven't really thought about that [insert Plato's Symposium re soulmates here]. Nix found Dick knew how to use his intelligence information well so he communicated everything he knew. Maybe he felt he had usefulness with Dick, that he was understood and appreciated.

Looked over my AO3 stats and noticed these two stories have almost identical numbers. Can someone please bookmark "The Life of the Symposium (aka Party"?
And going forward can everyone just agree to always read and react to these stories together? They will be a pair that cannot be separated. (Despite having basically nothing in common except being among my non-Roudise "Bob's Burgers" fics.)

Meanwhile, out in Ocean City, Maryland ...
With the Eastern Shore resort hosting Springfest last weekend, tagging along as unlikely guests were a contingent of many of your favourite Hanna-Barbera characters of the Funtastic persuasion, gathered for one of their more unique rituals: a Character Convocation.
No Laff-a-Lympics this; Ocean City Springfest may not have had a parade as part of the official celebration as opposed to arts-and-crafts shows and live music performances both on showcase and free stages near the Inlet on the south side of the resort, but for some reason or another, those master arrangers of these Convocations, Huckleberry Hound and Snagglepuss, manage to do exceptional work in this arena.
"Think of it this way," as That Oh-So-Merry, Chuckleberry explained at an impromptu symposium head near Ocean City's Boardwalk, "we're basically sharing common ground as much among ourselves as our fan base. After years of what you might call relative isolation and obscurity, Snagglepuss and I came up withthe idea one lazy Sunday afternoon back in 2016 or so."
Snagglepuss added, "Something came into my mind about the salad days of Fiesta Weekend in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, back in Ralph Edwards' day ... bringing along some Hollywood talent emergent to an otherwise decaying hot-spring resort recognising how he changed the name of what had been Hot Springs, New Mexico in honour of the rather daffy game show he created for radio in 1940, and would later have success on television."
"Notably in daytime under Bob Barker," Huckleberry explained.
"With that in mind, then," Snagglepuss added, "we came up with this idea of as much having a reunion among ourselves as meeting with fans, bonding with them even! Soooo ... from Truth or Consequences, we've turned up at several of the more interesting festivals around the place," a roster including the Minneapolis Aquatennial, the Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival, Wo-Zha-Wa in Wisconsin Dells, America's longest-running 4th of July Parade in Bristol, Rhode Island, followed by the Moxie Festival in Lisbon, Maine--"
Prompting Huckleberry Hound to explain that "this here Moxie, that's a rather esoteric soda propular up in New England whose taste, as they say, you either love or hate ... as in medicinal," bringing laughs from attendees; Snagglepuss continued by noting where the Funtastic legion also turned up at Catalina Island's Avalon Harbour Underwater Cleanup (highlighted by Peter Potamus and Lippy the Lion uncovering an antique steel bedframe so disposed of by "parties unknown"), Mardi Gras in Mobile ("that being the first place in America where Mardi Gras was celebrated, I'll have you know"--Huckleberry Hound) and, most recently, the Lilac Festival on Michigan's Mackinac Island.
As for the merry melodions of a kind (The Banana Splits and the Cattanooga Cats, respectively), they may not have been able to get free-stage time during Springfest, but were able to secure slots in small-time coffeehouses off Ocean Parkway, one in particular being rather campy in its love of Maryland thanks to a rather loud display of Maryland's state flag and Old Bay Seasoning supplanting salt and pepper at table. Yet then again, members of both bands had plenty of meet-and-greet time on Ocean City's Boardwalk.
Speaking of the Ocean City Boardwalk, for many Springfest visitors wanting some variety, it was hard to not stumble upon at least half a dozen of your onetime Saturday-morning favourites and be able to strike up a bit of conversation, pose for selfies and sign autographs, in particular by posing on benches along the Boardwalk and inviting passerby to sit and join in. (Especially memorable: Shaggy and Scooby-Doo's presence at a french-fry shop on the Boardwalk with a "bucket" thereof, shared with no less than three especially special visitors from the West Virginia coal country whose community was in some state of disarray after two coal mines closed suddenly and the Hair Bear Bunch "cleaning out" a pizza-by-the-slice place by buying slices for some 100 guests, forcing the place to close for nearly three hours just to make more. More interesting tales in this respect will be forthcoming.)
And oh, the diving-related tales such as Peter Potamus and the Three Wolves (not to mention the Divin' Wolf Pups) could relate in the meeting room of a small-time hotel just past the Boardwalk, and with the question-and-answer sessions following getting rather amusing ... or even Woofer and Whimper getting in some points about tourist-town crime issues in the back alleys--stolen credit and debit cards, pickpocketing, shoplifting, counterfeit merchandise, perverted trademarks, fuel driveoffs, card skimmers, even motel rooms being trashed to produce pornographic videos not very conducive to Ocean City's name and image.
Yep, plenty of interesting stuff ensueth in Ocean City with your favourite Funtastics over Springfest ... and expect more where that came from on this site within due course!
