bought new wrist braces. the old ones survived ~11 months of heavy use, including multiple times where i tripped and landed on outstretched hands. enough of the stitching in the velcro has ripped that the velcro isn't "sticky" anymore. the first two pics are the old right wrist brace. third is the new one! they're mueller fitted wrist braces, about 16 bucks each. 5 out of 5 stars, they're extremely comfortable, easy to clean, sturdy but not bulky, etc etc.
#wrist braces#wrist brace#carpal tunnel#carpal tunnel syndrome#arthritis#(tagging for exposure these are fucking amazing braces)#this brand seems to have a similarly ergonomic design style across different braces#but i can only vouch for these#newt's medical posting#honestly the old ones are still usable#but the velcro keeps popping open and its bugging me#ok again when i say heavy use i mean i wore them constantly for months and i still wear them at work always#...im rly stoned did i specify i wear them on both wrists?

Tumblr Live just came to the EU and if someone hasn't made a workaround to snooze it permanently I'm deleting my account and I'm not joking. Sayonara you weaboo shits etc etc
#I have no brand loyalty and the only reason I'm here is bc tumblr was the Least Annoying Social Media#It's rapidly trying to lose that title. So.#I'm not fucking dealing with a feature nobody likes purely there for shareholders to be appeased by#That was blocked from a whole continent bc of how shit it was at protecting your privacy for a long time#That you can't even turn off permanently#I think one of the 'make tumblr usable' firefox extensions i use has a 'turn off tumblr live' feature#If not I'll look for it tomorrow and if I can't find one. Well.#Sayonara you weaboo shits i guess#Mostly posting this so ppl have an advance warning if I drop off the face of the earth#My posts

The horror of Tumblr Live has finally breached containment and it's available outside of the US now. (Tbh I thought the third party hosting app that they are using for it was illegal in other places, but oh well.)
Friendly reminder that you can turn it off in content settings - but it only "snoozes" for a week and you can't permanently turn it off.
I have always said that I will go down with this ship and I will stick around tumblr forever, but like damn. They are making it really difficult to want to
#like i don't even know what other social media i would use#could i even go back to posting fics on wattpad#should i use fucking INSTAGRAM for the social aspect and just put my fics on AO3#idk#but i am still here#i will be here until the site is literally unusable#i hope someone else starts up a really good usable brand new social media please#sundrop speaks#hellsite

thinking about putting the crew of the Bronze Lily into a ship killing gale. The kind that breaks masts and bones and floods food stores while in the middle of nowhere. Thinking about Mer Kevin normally fishing in his free time to bring fresh food aboard, but being injured in the storm.
He'll heal eventually, maybe mer heal faster than the average human, but it slows him down now, makes it so he can't dive as far, swim fast or nimbly enough for solo open sea fishing. The human crew can set nets and traps along the side, but maybe that's not enough. Even if food wasn't a problem, fresh water still is.
So he sets out, alone, on a heading that should bring him to the nearest port. He's still injured, but technically capable of finding and bringing back help.
Actually this might be a good opportunity for another capture. He reaches land, and calls for help. He gets backed into a corner and forced to reveal he's a mer so his story adds up as to why he's here if his crew's still stranded, to convince them this isn't some pirate plot.
Maybe he's forgotten after a long enough recovery period, maybe this shore specifically is hostile to mer. But he's captured then, for his magic and abilities. It would be a hell of a fight, but he'd lose to sheer numbers, and exhaustion, and hunger, and injury.
The rest of the crew would be found by a passing fellow whaling ship, or perhaps a breeze would finally grace their last remaining sail. Kevin would have given Julian his compass, either in an unrelated scene as a show of great trust, or before this specific outing so the crew can know how far away he and rescue is. Which means, they have a compass to him to find him, and stage a rescue.
Imagining using it to communicate. If set to a one on the pain intensity scale, that warm but not hot sensation would mean they found rescue, and he can rendezvous at their home port. A two, hot but not burning, for a short burst would mean distress. Maybe only used for a fatality, maybe just that the situation is worse (maybe length of time determines how bad it is).
Imagining the relief he feels for them, even though he's in new mortal peril, to know that at least they're safe. Then the hope they realize he's not heeding the rendezvous, that he also needs help now. That they can find a way to get to him despite the damaged ship. And do so before his captors bleed him dry.
#FbaFish#Imagining also the captors seeing the compass brand on him and demanding to know if his captain has it#He tells them he smashed it to free himself of it or maybe that he hid the compass so it can't be used against him#I think he'd try to reverse interrogate them and try to find out if it's possible to destroy it#The reason he wouldn't have tried yet in the first place is the fear(perhaps instilled by the pirates) that it would be permanently set#to the highest pain setting if he ever damaged it beyond usability

Xp- pen and Huion both have promoted AI
Huion even more explicitly even promoting courses
XP pen promised to not use ai in promotional images but this tweet thread is fairly recent
it appears 2024 will continue the trend of art companies proudly representing themselves with the use of art theft generators [aka, AI generators]
original tweet is now deleted, but wacom used a generated image of a dragon for their 2024 lunar new year promo on twitter.
if you're shopping for art tablets, huion, artisul, and XPPen tablets do just as good a job as their wacom equivalents for less, sometimes even half the price.
when you buy a wacom you're paying almost exclusively for the Brand Name, not any actual quality.
#in terms of brands ...there are no good brands if anything if you have a tablet that is usable theres no need to buy a new one#hell. maybe buy used if thats not an option and you do not want to buy from them#sorry to throw my hat in the ring but bringing up 2 brands is like... hm....

I slept in and just woke up, so here's what I've been able to figure out while sipping coffee:
Twitter has officially rebranded to X just a day or two after the move was announced.
The official branding is that a tweet is now called "an X", for which there are too many jokes to make.
The official account is still @twitter because someone else owns @X and they didn't reclaim the username first.
The logo is 𝕏 which is the Unicode character Unicode U+1D54F so the logo cannot be copyrighted and it is highly likely that it cannot be protected as a trademark.
Outside the visual logo, the trademark for the use of the name "X" in social media is held by Meta/Facebook, while the trademark for "X" in finance/commerce is owned by Microsoft.
The rebranding has been stopped in Japan as the term "X Japan" is trademarked by the band X JAPAN.
Elon had workers taking down the "Twitter" name from the side of the building. He did not have any permits to do this. The building owner called the cops who stopped the crew midway through so the sign just says "er".
He still plans to call his streaming and media hosting branch of the company as "Xvideo". Nobody tell him.
This man wants you to give him control over all of your financial information.
Edit to add further developments:
Yes, this is all real. Check the notes and people have pictures. I understand the skepticism because it feels like a joke, but to the best of my knowledge, everything in the above is accurate.
Microsoft also owns the trademark on X for chatting and gaming because, y'know, X-box.
The logo came from a random podcaster who tweeted it at Musk.
The act of sending a tweet is now known as "Xeet". They even added a guide for how to Xeet.
The branding change is inconsistent. Some icons have changed, some have not, and the words "tweet" and "Twitter" are still all over the place on the site.
TweetDeck is currently unaffected and I hope it's because they forgot that it exists again. The complete negligence toward that tool and just leaving it the hell alone is the only thing that makes the site usable (and some of us are stuck on there for work).
This is likely because Musk was forced out of PayPal due to a failed credit line project and because he wanted to rename the site to "X-Paypal" and eventually just to "X".
This became a big deal behind the scenes as Musk paid over $1 million for the domain X.com and wanted to rebrand the company that already had the brand awareness people were using it as a verb to "pay online" (as in "I'll paypal you the money")
X.com is not currently owned by Musk. It is held by a domain registrar (I believe GoDaddy but I'm not entirely sure). Meaning as long as he's hung onto this idea of making X Corp a thing, he couldn't be arsed to pay the $15/year domain renewal.
Bloomberg estimates the rebranding wiped between $4 to $20 billion from the valuation of Twitter due to the loss of brand awareness.
The company was already worth less than half of the $44 billion Musk paid for it in the first place, meaning this may end up a worse deal than when Yahoo bought Tumblr.
One estimation (though this is with a grain of salt) said that Twitter is three months from defaulting on its loans taken out to buy the site. Those loans were secured with Tesla stock. Meaning the bank will seize that stock and, since it won't be enough to pay the debt (since it's worth around 50-75% of what it was at the time of the loan), they can start seizing personal assets of Elon Musk including the Twitter company itself and his interest in SpaceX.
Sesame Street's official accounts mocked the rebranding.

my former workplace apparently couldn't list things for sale for the entirety of last week because of a security breach with the posting software. this in turn has led management to decide to accelerate their plans to switch to a NEW software, and they're making everyone use it starting tomorrow.
this software is a) built for iphones, and all the listers currently have android phones; b) is buggy as all hell; c) is reliant on stores to put barcodes on items before they send them to e-comm, where they will stay with an item all the way through the listing/shelving/shipping process.
these barcodes will not have titles on them.
and the cherry on top?
there is currently no way for listers to make new barcodes, which means that if someone gets a box that's half candles and half barbies, they can't split the lot and make a separate barcode for the barbie half.
what actually shocks me about this whole thing is that it's exactly what they wanted to do with our PREVIOUS posting software, but it was abandoned because it would have been a logistical clusterfuck.
so like six years later they decided to do it again, but make absolutely none of the changes that were suggested that first time to avoid complete disaster.
i am so glad i left when i did.
i might have actually gotten myself fired if i had to sit down and hear that management was going to push a failed idea from years ago without adjusting it at ALL.
anyway, i'll be waiting for updates from my former coworkers on how bad things will inevitably go. i feel so bad for everyone who will now have to suffer through yet another baffling fuckup by management.
#working birdie#except not because i quit but i don't have another tag ready so whatever#supposedly they'll be getting iphones soon but those are way more expensive than the android phones listers are currently using#that they mostly scavenged from donations and were all brands/models that wouldn't sell well anyway#good luck scavenging enough usable iphones lmao

How a UI UX Design Company Can Transform Your Website

In today’s digital landscape, having an exceptional user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design is paramount for any website’s success. As the digital frontier continues to evolve, the role of a UI UX design company becomes increasingly critical in transforming websites into engaging, user-friendly platforms. This comprehensive article delves into the myriad ways a UI UX design company can revolutionize your website, enhancing its functionality, aesthetics, and overall user engagement.
The Importance of UI UX Design
Enhancing User Satisfaction
The user experience and UI can be greatly improved with thoughtful design. By understanding user needs and preferences, a UI UX design company can create intuitive interfaces that facilitate smooth navigation and interaction. This focus on usability ensures that visitors have a positive experience, which is crucial for retaining customers and encouraging repeat visits.
Boosting Conversion Rates
Getting visitors to become clients is one of a website's primary goals. A UI UX design company employs strategic Design principles to create call-to-action (CTA) buttons, forms, and other interactive elements that guide users toward making a purchase or completing a desired action. By optimizing these elements, the company can significantly boost your website’s conversion rates.
Key Benefits of Hiring a UI UX Design Company
Expertise and Experience
UI UX design companies bring a wealth of expertise and experience to the table. Their teams typically consist of seasoned professionals who are well-versed in the latest design trends, tools, and technologies. This expertise allows them to craft bespoke designs that are tailored to your specific business needs and goals.
Research-Driven Design
A reputable UI UX design company bases its design decisions on thorough research and data analysis. They conduct user research, competitive analysis, and usability testing to gather insights that inform their design process. This research-driven approach ensures that the final design is not only visually appealing but also highly functional and user-centric.
Time and Cost Efficiency
Outsourcing your UI UX design needs to a specialized company can save you time and money in the long run. By leveraging their expertise, you can avoid common design pitfalls and expedite the development process. Additionally, a well-designed website reduces the need for frequent redesigns and updates, further saving you costs.
Transformative Impacts of UI UX Design on Your Website
Improved Accessibility
An essential component of modern web design is accessibility.A UI UX design company ensures that your website is accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. This includes implementing features such as screen reader compatibility, keyboard navigation, and alternative text for images. By making your website more inclusive, you can reach a broader audience and comply with accessibility standards.
Enhanced Mobile Experience
It is now required to have a mobile-friendly website due to the rise in the use of mobile devices.A UI UX design company ensures that your website is responsive and offers a seamless experience across all devices. This involves optimizing the design for smaller screens, improving load times, and ensuring touch-friendly navigation. A superior mobile experience not only improves user satisfaction but also positively impacts your search engine rankings.
Consistent Branding
Building an effective online presence involves consistency in branding.A UI UX design company ensures that all design elements, from colors and fonts to imagery and tone of voice, are aligned with your brand identity. This consistency helps in creating a cohesive and memorable brand experience for your users.
The Process of UI UX Design
Discovery Phase
The UI UX design process typically begins with a discovery phase, where the design team gathers information about your business, goals, and target audience. This phase may include stakeholder interviews, user surveys, and competitive analysis. The insights gained during this phase serve as the foundation for the design strategy.
Wireframing and Prototyping
Once the initial research is complete, the design team creates wireframes and prototypes to visualize the website’s structure and functionality. Wireframes are basic blueprints that outline the layout of each page, while prototypes are interactive models that allow for user testing and feedback. These tools help in refining the design and identifying any potential issues early in the process.
Design and Development
After finalizing the wireframes and prototypes, the design team moves on to the actual design and development phase. This involves creating high-fidelity designs that incorporate branding elements, visual aesthetics, and interactive features. The development team then brings these designs to life by coding the website and integrating any necessary functionalities.
Testing and Iteration
Before the website goes live, it undergoes rigorous testing to ensure that it functions correctly and meets user expectations. This covers testing for cross-browser compatibility, usability, and performance.Based on the feedback received, the design team makes any necessary adjustments to optimize the user experience.
Real-World Examples of UI UX Design Success
Case Study: E-Commerce Transformation
Consider an e-commerce website that struggled with high bounce rates and low conversion rates. By partnering with a UI UX design company, they were able to completely overhaul their website. The new design featured a streamlined checkout process, personalized product recommendations, and intuitive navigation. As a result, the website saw a 50% increase in conversion rates and a significant reduction in bounce rates.
Case Study: Mobile App Enhancement
A financial services company sought to improve the user experience of their mobile app. The UI UX design company conducted user research to identify pain points and areas for improvement. They redesigned the app’s interface to be more user-friendly and added features such as biometric login and real-time notifications. The enhanced app received positive feedback from users and saw a substantial increase in engagement and retention rates.
Conclusion
In summary, a UI UX design company can have a profound impact on your website’s performance and user experience. From enhancing accessibility and mobile usability to ensuring consistent branding and driving conversions, their expertise can transform your digital presence. By investing in professional UI UX design services, you can create a website that not only meets but exceeds user expectations, ultimately leading to greater business success.
