#Broadway musical theater

I don't know what other people's thoughts are on this, but I'm kinda iffy with Six on Broadway. I love the musical itself and I think it has great caliber, but how is it a Broadway musical?

It has a cast of six people and is structured and treated like a concert, but its still qualifies for the same awards as shows with 30 costumes and actors to coordinate. I don't mean the work that goes into it is should be any less valued, but I haven't seen a conversation about this and have just had the thoughts on my mind lately.

As far as I know, the only dialogue is to transition between songs and (in my opinion) a lot of the music is used to fill time. Of course, this all adds to the overall energy of the work and isn't necessarily bad, but I wonder if it should be compared to the other shows who weren't made as a concert set , if that makes sense.

I'm no expert on musical theater history but I haven't heard or seen any show like that, except for Freestyle Love Supreme. Even that show, though, was given its own special Tony award.

Whump: The Musical Prompts!!
