“In the packed MVP Arena, here in Albany, New York and now on the road to Money in the Bank, we welcome you to Monday, Night, Raw!”

After the quick introduction, the fallout of Night of Champions begins, Seth Rollins beginning the night as well as a surprise visit from AJ Styles, and the Judgement Day. Ricochet wins his spot in the Money in the Bank match, Trish and Zoey have a quick segment, followed up by Indus Sheer and Jinder Mahal beating two locals. Imperium and Alpha Academy have a match, followed shortly by a Women’s Championship Match, Ronda and Shayna unfortunately winning and by disqualification Dolph Ziggler wins a match against JD McDonagh.

And finally, well into the night, Cody’s music hits. The crowd cheers just as loud as they always do for the man, even at the sight of no wrestling gear and a sling around his broken arm. Their cheers die down for a moment, before becoming even louder the second he starts talking, his promo skills shining bright and loud as he yells brave and rage-filled words against Brock.

“….if I am standing in a ring, I am standing there ready to fight you, Brock Lesnar!” The pitched screeching of Brock Lesnar’s theme song cut him off, followed by the surprise of the fans and even Cody himself. The Beast stepped out and into the arena, his own attire casual as well. This was nothing new. Sometimes, Brock would come out in tight-ass jeans and a cowboy hat for no good reason. But this time, he had a mic.

“Now..now, Cody, I don’t think that’s true. I don’t think any of that’s true. In fact, I think if we were to have another match, your little bitch would run right back out here and I’d have to break their arm too.” He spoke slowly, walking to the ring and making circles around it as he did so.

The crowd booed at the harsh words, especially the ones against Y/N. The boo’s didn’t last very long, as they once again rallied into cheers as Cody seemed to forget he had a mic and instead moved to yell at Brock over the ropes, giving the announcement table a front row seat to his anger.

Brock only laughed in his face at the threats, moving closer to the ring and continuing his harassment of words against Cody’s partner, forcing Cody to start clambering through the ropes, ready to attack. He never made it to Brock though, as Y/N came rushing out into the arena.

They quickly dived into the ring, rushing over to Cody, giving him a soft tug causing him to stumble back into the ring and right against Y/N’s chest. Cody attempted to pull away, still yelling over at Brock, but his lover held him tightly around his waist.

“Don’t you ever talk about Y/N! I’ll rip your tongue straight out, you son of a bitch, don’t you ever let their name leave your mouth!” Brock continued laughing back into the face of the man as his partner dragged him over to the other side of the ring, moving away from the announcers table and starting to walk up the ramp, making Cody try and force his way away from Y/N once again, but was once again unsuccessful. The pair stayed inside on the ring for a while before they were given the okay that Brock wasn’t near the gorilla or their locker room.

They walked quickly in silence, Cody radiating with an unseen anger from beside Y/N, his hand coming up to rub his face almost as if it would wipe the irritation away. With the chance of Cody possibly running to attempt an attack of Brock or take his anger out on an unexpected victim, even if the latter wasn’t likely, Y/N kept a hand on his back, bunched up into his suit jacket until they reached the small locker room. An awkward silence quickly filled the room as Cody moved to sit down, his love standing above him.

“You know I wouldn’t have done that if your arm wasn’t hurt, right?” They were given no response, Cody doing nothing but keeping his eyes on the ground, elbows placed on his spread knees and hands clasped together. Y/N moved to sit next to them after the silence continued, a sigh moving past their lips in disappointment but also understanding why Cody was so mad.

“Do you see this? Hm?” Y/N touched Cody’s casted arm gently as they asked, and though he still remained in silence their grasp was comforting. He looked over to them, blue eyes shining and wet with shame. “This means that you’re hurt. It’s my job to make sure you don’t get hurt, and you already are, so I’m going to do whatever it takes to make sure you don’t get hurt more, even if it means you’re angry at me.”

Unable to find the words, Cody stayed silent, and instead let out a soft breath, eyebrows moving to furrow together over soft eyes. Noticing his increasing guilt, Y/N moved in closer.

“C’mere, baby.” They barely had to speak before Cody was moving into their hold with such force they fell back onto the small couch, the large man toppling over on them and blond, short hair tickling their chin as his face shoved into the space between their neck and the back of the couch.

“M’sorry.” Finally able to find some words, he muttered it into their neck, for some reason ashamed of his actions.

“I’m not mad, Codes. Could never be mad at you, never ever, I just need you to be safe. You did nothing wrong at all.” Y/N’s hand moved up to his hair while they spoke comfortingly, their tone holding nothing but love and endearance. Cody let out another sigh, his working arm moving behind Y/N to grasp around their waist while the other layer over top of them.

“Codes. Baby, look at me, please.” Their voice, still sugar-sweet, induced Cody to look up at them through adoringly long black eyelashes much to the contrast of his striking hair, diamond eyes shining from Y/N’s praise.

“I’m not mad. Okay?” The sweet, sweet boy responded with a nod and the mouthing of an okay, eyes clamping closed again. The pair returned to a silence, this time comforting and loving, Y/N’s hand running through Cody’s hair almost sending him to sleep.

“Wanna go home, sweetheart?” Cody responded with another nod. “Yeah? Okay.” Though they both agreed, neither moved from the grimy couch, Cody refusing to give up his spot on top of them and Y/N not wanting to make him get up. Instead, they continued their cuddle session, enjoying the softness they each pulled out of each other.

Brock had never, in all his years of active field duty and life-or-death situations, been so fear-stricken as he had been when he opened his inbox to an email from Pierce.

It wasn’t the mere fact that Pierce sent out an email, one with ATTENTION STRIKE FORCE ALPHA AND CLEARANCE LEVEL EIGHT FACULTY in the subject line that had icy dread curling between Brock’s ribs.

It wasn’t the beginning of the email, in which Pierce sung his praises, gloating about how well the most recent mission had gone, that caused the dread to settle in a pit in Brock’s stomach.

It was what followed, one singular sentence, that had Brock leaping up out of his chair, kicking it to the side and storming out of the restaurant with Jack close behind, practically trembling with the horror that he felt.

Brock was a lot of things, but he wasn’t stupid. There had been talk of budget cuts and the merits of replacing the Asset with something purely mechanical, taking whatever fractured pieces of a human soul that remained within it out of the equation entirely.

It had been a rough couple of months for the Asset and its team. It seemed to need to go back to the chair more and more frequently as time went on; in barely-perceptible moments of weakness its hand would tremble, or it would whimper when no one was near it.

It was breaking. Brock wasn’t stupid.

But he had been foolish enough to hope that the lab coat jackasses would simply come up with a more effective way to wipe it. Something that lasted longer, something that could reach deeper into its brain and remove all the horrors of its successes.

Instead, Pierce was going to have it put down.

“What the fuck, man?” Jack snapped, jogging after Brock to keep up with his rage-fueled pace.

“We’re going to work. Now. Check your phone.”

“God, what is it this time…”

Brock was in the car by the time Jack could read the e-mail, revving the engine impatiently. The beginnings of a plan had already begun forming in his mind, though it did little to settle the nauseous feeling of dread.

Jack opened the passenger door and gave a grim nod, one that said I’m with you on this one.

That’s why he was Brock’s right hand man.

March 10th.

It was March 4th.

He had six days before everything would come crashing down around him. He couldn’t bear to start from scratch- he didn’t want to start from scratch.

This felt closer to the end of the world than any world crisis or alien invasion had ever felt before.

“Where is it?” Brock’s voice boomed and ricocheted off of the concrete walls, just decibels away from a shout. He knew he had to keep his cool, to keep up appearances for now.

The handful of technicians busying themselves with paperwork gave him a strange look.

“Cryo prep-“

“No. No, fuck no. Leave it out.”

“Pierce ordered-“

“I don’t give a RAT’S ASS what Pierce ordered. Do you know who the fuck I am?!” He was yelling now, clenching his fists and working his jaw.

“Rumlow,” Came a calm voice from behind him.

Alexander Pierce himself stood at the bottom of the stairwell, many floors below where he usually ventured.

“Sir.” Brock grunted, chastised. He knew that this conversation would impact the entire course of the rest of his life. No room for fuck-ups.

“The most humane way to do this is to leave it in cryo,” Pierce said pointedly, gesturing to the heavy metal door on the far wall. “I understand that this might seem sudden, but Sitwell-“

“Mr. Secretary.” Brock interrupted, shoving his hands in his pocket and taking a step forward, chin raised in a show of nonchalance. “It has served us well for decades. I simply want to see it in action one last time. I’m requesting permission to take it up to the gym to spar-“

“You want to hurt it one last time,” Pierce’s eyebrows were raised. He would’ve been smirking, if he had been capable of such a thing.

“There’s no point keeping it in good condition now,” Brock replied, mirroring his amused expression.

He felt sick.

He felt angry that he felt sick.

“Alright. You can have it for a couple hours. Then it needs to go back into the cryo tank.”

“Thank you, sir. Hail Hydra.”

“Hail Hydra.”

Brock let his shoulders sag slightly as Pierce disappeared up the stairs. This is what years of loyalty to this organization had gotten him. A couple hours.

He maneuvered into a camera blind spot and pulled out his phone to text Jack.

It was still in its gear from the last mission. No one had even bothered to clean it. Cryo prep, his ass. Those lab coats were just bluffing.

The Asset stood at attention, its back pressed against the wall. It was almost strange to see it like this, its gaunt face exposed, after growing used to seeing it with its muzzle on. It looked like they hadn’t been feeding it enough.

Brock let the door shut behind him and could practically feel the Asset’s fear dissipate, though it didn’t move an inch. He took a step forward.

“Kneel.”

The Asset knelt, falling silently, gracefully, to its knees.

Everything was still. Brock watched it for a couple long moments, waiting for a tremor or a sob, anything that indicated weakness.

It couldn’t know the fate that Pierce had dictated for it.

“Are you listening to me?”

“Yes, Sir.”

Brock crossed the room in two strides, resting a hand gently atop its matted hair. He resisted the urge to tug on it and listened to the way its breath deepened. Something primal ached deep within his chest.

“Who do you belong to?”

“Hydra, Sir.”

“And who is your primary handler?”

“Commander Rumlow, Strike Force Alpha, Identification number 06081965,” Its eyes narrowed as if it was processing something, reaching into the depths of its brain to understand. “You, Sir.”

“Good, good job. Look at me,” Brock crouched down, putting himself at its eye level, breaking nearly every protocol in the book- protocol that he had written.

It looked startled when it met his eyes. There was something deer-in-headlights about the icy blue gaze. It looked back at him as if waiting for answers, for instructions, for help.

Brock would have put money on the fact that it could sense his fear. He took a deep breath.

“There’s been an emergency. You are going to come with Rollins and I and listen to every word that we say. No hesitation.”

The sound of a nearby explosion made the Asset break eye contact for half a second, gaze darting to the source of the noise.

Deafening alarms began to ring.

“Soldier!” Brock barked, gripping it by the back of the neck. “What did I say? Look at me, goddammit.”

“Sorry, Sir. Please.”

It held eye contact once again, conveying everything that it couldn’t say with its eyes. It was scared, it was confused, it hadn’t mean to upset him.

“It’s alright. Nothing outside of normal mission parameters, just focus. Any weapons on you?”

“No, sir.”

Brock slipped a knife from his boot, tucking it into one of the many holsters affixed to the Asset’s clothing.

“That’ll do for now, Rollins is bringing in some guns in approximately two minutes. That’s when we move. Do you require anything else for optimal functionality?”

“The Asset has not been provided nutrition in approximately six days, Sir.”

No wonder it fucking trembled. Brock could’ve burnt the whole place down, he was so mad. He reached into his pocket and produced a Jolly Rancher hard candy (Jack’s favorite).

“You see this? This is candy. It’s a reward. You can have it if you do good, if we get out of here. And I’ll get you some real food too.”

“Thank you, Sir,” It all but whispered, still staring at him unblinkingly. It hadn’t even looked away to assess the candy.

It was so good.

It would be good.

Brock stood, keeping time carefully in his head. They had about thirty seconds. He motioned for the Asset to rise and follow him towards the door.

One second passed. Brock turned around and stepped towards it, toeing at its boot with his own.

Two seconds. They would get out together, all three of them. Flee the country. He already had forged paperwork for the Asset.

Three seconds. But if they didn’t…

Four seconds. Brock lifted his chin slightly and leaned in. The Asset remained perfectly still, perfect, lips slightly parted. It breathed in through its nose and out through its mouth.

Five seconds. It exhaled. Brock pressed his lips to it, something chaste and sweet, entirely unlike anything he’d done to it before.

Six, seven, eight, another explosion. The Asset inhaled and exhaled once again. It did not speak.

Brock kissed it again, because he could, because this very well might be his last chance. The rage in his veins popped and simmered like hot grease. Together, or this was the end.

Their first album, technically made when it was just Dustin!

A really solid debut album in general.

Their most iconic album to date, everyone likes this one.

A bit experimental, a proof of concept.

Vessels (2017)

The second album, and arguably their best.

Singles: Monster, Ricochet, Satellite, Telepathic

The most epic of the four so far, and the fan favourite.

Really long too! Over an hour of amazing songs!

Something for everyone on this album.

Divisions (2019)

Their third album, and last pre-covid.

Singles: Manifest, Where The Skies End, Echo, Diving Bell

A more industrial sound with a lot more traditional rock.

A bit polarising, some love it, some don't.

Really raw lyrics, if you're into that.

Horizons (2021)

Their fourth, and most recent, album.

Singles: The Breach, Infected, Leaving This World Behind, Earthrise, Devolution

Sounds like a movie soundtrack.

Another polarising album, but is a really consistent one.

Goes hard into emotional lyrics, and keeps you on your toes.

The fifth, upcoming album, doesn't have a name or official cover yet.

Sounds like it's gonna be super heavy, so we're all very excited!

Band Members

Starset are currently a seven piece band, apparently this is how it was always meant to be, so the lineup is permanent now, and will be for the foreseeable future! Each of the band members use a number, no one knows what the numbers mean yet, though.

The current lineup is:

Dustin Bates - Lead Vocals, Band Leader/Founder, and main songwriter. Ron DeChant - Bassist, Backing Vocals, Keyboards Brock Richards - Guitarist, Backing Vocals Adam Gilbert - Drummer Siobhan Cronin-Richards - Violinist, Keyboards Zuzana Engererova - Cellist Cory Juba - Keyboards, Synths, Backing Guitars

Dustin Bates - 3301

The leader, founder, and mastermind behind the band.

Main vocalist, and writes literally all of their songs.

Has a really cute French Bulldog called Ernie, who is kinda the band's mascot.

Has a Masters in Electrical Engineering, and almost had a PHD in Avionics, but gave up on it to focus on music. Scary smart, has written both of the band's lore books himself, and engineers their stage setup.

Has the most relaxing speaking voice ever, and 90% of fans are at least a little bit in love with him.

The only one who really does interviews.

He's just a really cool guy, and really seems to love his fans.

Ron DeChant - 5501

The bassist, and easily the second-in-command to Dustin, they were bandmates in Dustin's last band.

Lowkey manages the band, he books tours for them and helps handle logistics.

Was in the military before he became a musician.

Was the first person Dustin went to when he formed the band, so they're kind of the original two members.

Had to get the entire band and crew back to the USA from Russia as Covid hit.

Had to sit the European Horizons tour out due to shoulder surgery, but is back now!

Currently owns the whiteboard the band's lore was written on!

Brock Richards - 5502

One quarter of the core four of the band, plays guitar and is a backup singer to Dustin sometimes.

One half of the Starset Power Couple - he and Siobhan are married.

Seems like a really chilled out guy, but has apparently throttled someone to protect Siobhan once during the Vessels era.

A big gamer!

Has a really good knowledge of production, and a sick af guitar collection.

He, Dustin, and Ron are always front of the stage, Brock usually is at Dustin's left.

Has worked on music with Siobhan's other band - Lost Symphony.

Adam Gilbert - 5503

The final of the core four of the band who were there for the first album and tour.

Runs a drumming course called Drumabuse.

Also is an art major, who sells his works on the side.

Often stays longest talking to fans at VIP shows.

Dyes his hair a different colour for each album cycle apparently.

Has probably the biggest social media presence of the band, the rest being chronically offline.

Has gotten into controversy for his political views in the past, but let's hope he's more open-minded now.

Siobhan Cronin-Richards - 7701

The violin queen herself, Siobhan has been with the band as a permanent member since 2017, first performing with them during the Vessels era.

One of two members of the band with formal training in their instrument, Zuzana being the other one.

The other half of the Starset Power Couple with Brock.

From Michigan, but based out of Ohio and Florida.

Besties with Zuzana.

Has another band called Lost Symphony, kind of a classical/metal hybrid genre.

Hosts a podcast with the other members of Lost Symphony, which has become the Unofficial Starset Podcast.

Zuzana Engererova - 7702

The cello queen of the band, joined as a permanent member in the 2019 Divisions era, replacing Mariko Muranaka, and has been with the band ever since.

Is the only European member of the band, being Slovakian.

Has often talked about how difficult it is for her to play cello standing up, saying her back and shoulder hurt after tours are done.

Besties with Siobhan.

Based in Vegas, and plays cello at events there in the offseason.

Is also a frequent collab with Lost Symphony, I think she's a fourth member now, but I'm not sure.

Second most frequent band member on Siobhan's podcast, Brock being most frequent.

Cory Juba - 7703

The newest member of the band, completing the vision Dustin had back in 2013, joining for the 2022 Horizons tour.

Another could-have-been doctor in the band. Cory was apparently studying a medical degree before getting into music.

Has known Dustin for a really long time, and has helped with various projects of his.

Got the call to join the band while hiking in British Columbia.

Seems like a really nice guy overall, and goes crazy on stage.

Accidentally spilled water on the show laptop once, causing a lot of panic.

Helped out with synths and keys on the Starset rendition of Waiting on The Sky To Change.

The Lore

While most bands might have a concept album, Starset are a concept band, the entire band are built around a central story. You don't need to know the lore to be a fan of the band, but it helps.

Dustin has put out two books dealing with the lore. The Prox Transmissions in 2014, and A Brief History of The Future in 2024.

From what I understand, here's how it goes:

While working on his electricity experiments, Nikola Tesla accidentally receives a message from the 2040s from a far off planet called Prox. He ignores it. A few decades later, Stephen Browning receives the same signal, and enlists Aston Wise to help him interpret it.

The signal warns of an oncoming takeover by someone called The Architect, who is in charge of something either called The Architecture or The Everything Machine. The runaway technology creating something called The Brain-Machine Interface (BMI, kinda like Neuralink). Necessitating leaving Earth for another planet.

Browning founds the Order of Teslonia, aiming to keep the signal secret and work behind the scenes to ensure this future doesn't happen. Wise, however, seeks to make the information public. Forming the rival Starset Society, which leads to the band itself forming.

It's later revealed that along the way, Wise becomes The Architect, and leads said takeover, losing all control of the Starset Society in the process. Forming the New East, New West, and making the BMI mandatory for citizens. A rebellion forms to counter this takeover, while Browning's group are working to get everyone off world to Prox.

We don't quite know the ins and outs of everything yet, but this is the lore as far as I understand it.

Starset don't have concerts, they have Demonstrations.

Starset fans are called Messengers.

Just wanna ramble a bit about a few headcanons I have about some of Brawl Stars. I'll probably make more parts when I feel like it so this doesn't get long.

- The only other person Mortis hates more than Dynamike is Colt. He and Colt have been rivals since day.

- After Spike had released the poison gas in 1995, Starr Park had erased most of the brawlers' memories of what had happened and replaced them with new, fake ones. So far, the only brawlers whose memories haven't been completely wiped are Spike, Sam, and Belle.

- When I say the park is huge, the park is HUGE. It's as big as a big city which is why it's able to have all these different areas among it (especially Super City, which has got to be their BIGGEST environment due to it being an entire city.)

- Rik is R-T's more humane side, not necessarily the entire robot. (This one is basically purely headcanon since the chances of Rik being any part of R-T are unfortunately slim :( )

- Chuck is still mad at Pearl to this day for burning his baton.

- Chuck and Sam are best friends! I don't know why I just thought they'd be a good duo.

- The Turbo Theater Trio and Ghost Station Trio are great partners because Chuck is grateful to the three for taking care of Gus during his mysterious disappearance and comes by often. (Buster is extremely scared of him though.)

- Shelly used to be one of the most infamous outlaws in all of the Wastelands. However, she was eventually arrested by Colt. A few days later, she was bailed out by a mysterious person... This mysterious person was none other, but Starr Park's Owner (Name Unknown). They had promised Shelly freedom if she practiced in Brawl Stars.

- Rico and Brock have a strong bond. Brock stumbled into the fight just like Colt and Rico (who then used to go be Ricohet) saved him. Brock insisted on joining him. He thought this was just like an actual video game, and he LOVED it. (Also, Brock is such an underrated character. Give him love.)

- Ricochet ended up getting into a duel with Darryl, which ultimately put him on the brink of death. Brock got him to Pam, who is an expert and building and fixing robots, and thus, Rico was born.

okay hi i’m sure you’ve thought of this but i was just listening to ‘my tears ricochet,’ as one does, and if you ended up writing an iaafyf prequel you could totally use “if i’m on fire you’ll be made of ashes too” as a title!
