"Franca gazed at the lobotomized Psychiatrist for a few seconds before sighing.
“Sometimes, we’re still too naive. We might even think of ourselves as the protagonist.”
Lumian knew that “we” referred to the members of the Curly-Haired Baboons Research Society."
I feel like this is the main reason I really love the fact that Lumian is our protagonist in the second series. Every epoch was almost completely dominated by a trasmigrator and our last series revolved entirely around the thoughts and feelings of a lonely transmigrator. But in the second series, our main protagonist is a true native of the era.
He is someone who finds themselves deeply entrenched in the midst of secrets, gods, and transmigrators without having the background that any of these people have. He did change after meeting his transmigrated sister, but he grew up with the same morals and viewpoints as his fellow natives. He believes in the gods and is in awe of their powers and might. He is someone who can hold back his curiosity in matters because he grew up in an environment where knowing too much will literally kill/corrupt you. He thinks transmigrators are a bit silly and naive but also powerful and full of unheard knowledge. He's a normal guy of his era that got caught in a shitty situation but grits his teeth to keep moving forward. He is a boy who has been stomped down by fate numerous times but still retains the light of hope in his heart. And I think that was something really needed in this series.

Tips for finding better people to be around? I feel like I also tolerated people too much at timed when I shouldnt have
Okay my number one advice is do not be afraid of having a period of time where you are mostly alone/have very few friends or are friendless. most people do experience this although they don’t want to admit it, transitional periods where you don’t have close friends are very common especially at pivotal moments of change in your life and having a little while without people is better than enduring being mistreated. I learned from years of being mistreated that I am particularly inclined to end up around people who use me so I was incredibly careful and selective when I started making friends again and I can say with 100% certainty I love every person in my life and am incredibly grateful and comfortable with all of my friends for the first time in my entire life. When it comes to how to actually make friends hobbies are a great way along with talking to anyone you find interesting whether it’s online or in person or whatever. Strangers coworkers classmates acquaintances etc chat them up. Getting a temp check before you deeply trust people but also being receptive to being friendly before you know if you’ll be close or not are both great. The biggest thing is don’t let mistreatment of any kind slide if it matters to you u should be able to address it and a mature person will be receptive and listen to you. I’ve learned there’s no space for fear in relationships and if anybody has you on edge they’re not worth being around. And most of all GLHF anon 🫶👍

out of context ep 12 "my new boss is goofy" quotes that I've hidden in my drafts since december hoping someone not me will bring up as more "queer-baiting" examples but, well, here we are.
These quotes are about apartment hunting. But also, do they not read as one person's anxiety over a budding romance?
Momose is hesitant to move because he's found happiness with what they have. Yet he wants the space to grow by himself in confidence and equality. He wants to keep the relationship (broadly speaking) but realizes that continuing as they are will not serve either of them in the long run. (Plus, in a typical courting situation, rejection at this stage is not a good look. +10 anxiety.)
Tumblr media
But god bless Shirosaki. Healing boss of our dreams. He explicitly states his feelings on the matter. Yes, he wants Momose to stay. Yes, he is sad. But if Momose wants to leave, then he will back that choice without sacrificing the relationship.
There's an underlying message communicated here that the quality of their relationship is more important than the status of it (status equaling colleagues vs. neighbors vs. roommates vs. lovers) At the same time, he recognizes that status (boss/subordinate and, yes, romantic/platonic) is important to society. The impact that weight has on a person's psyche cannot be brushed aside. It's respected by them both.
They've survived abusive relationships. They are finding the value in sitting with loneliness and building personal confidence. They know they have unconditional friends backing them up. They grace each other with the gift of understanding and space to heal and to grow.
No rush. No pressure. No rejection. Good vibes only.

i've been musing on why i'm still finding it so difficult to commit to exploring luocha as a muse, and i think i've settled on the main reason why i continue to stall dipping into his character. it comes down to an issue i've always struggled with, something i've always admired other people's ability to do, and that is: diving deep into a character that is not yet fully (or even partially) developed within their canon.
i have always found it difficult to start building on a muse when i know there's still lore and development to come, and i know that's at least in part due to not wanting to be totally wrong about that character's personality, their background, their motives, etc. this is not helped by the fact that the one time i did attempt this (gallagher).... yeah, everything was completely wrong. and whilst i was able to save everything i'd started building by just going "fuck it, canon divergent it is" that time, i... seem hesitant to repeat the experience.
this is why i'm reluctant to start using a muse before their canon is established (other examples being jiaoqiu, obsidian, anaxa) or is still very much a large question mark waiting to be explored, and why interactions with muses that are still relatively new in their source material will be much sparser than muses that are very well established. i think there's something about the 'blank state' element that stalls me - because it's not going to remain blank, and there's a good chance that any thought out metas or ideas i have for them are going to be turned upside down somewhere down the line. i think i just need the stability and security of established canon before i can start really building on my interpretation of that character. it's why i generally like to wait until we see a character in game (or their relevant media) before i tackle any interactions for them, just so i have an established foundation to build upon. and luocha........ well, we know basically nothing about this man. there is no foundation (or at the very least, it's a very unstable one-)
but lauri, aren't you taking this silly roleplay thing a little too seriously here? hi, i'm a chronic overthinker and definitely not as confident in my portrayals as you might think (this is me stating a fact, not seeking reassurances!), so i do hesitate before i let myself dig into a 'blank slate' muse. the only time i happily unleash myself upon a blank slate muse is when i know they won't be getting much, if any, further development (examples being menogias, vautrin, guthred, etc).
i'd hoped cutting off any and all hi3 connections to luocha would help me feel more comfortable poking around in his head (bc i am not opening that door even if canon decides to shove it in my face later on) but i'm still struggling. i do still want to write him, otherwise i think i would have taken him off the list already, so i think i just need to kick my own ass into just... writing something for him.
anyway, this entire rambling post just to say: the fear of being wrong is the main reason i hesitate and stall developing new muses & i really do admire the people that can do this bc my brain simply cannot conceive of the idea

#these are just some thoughts re: friendship as a result of tonight that i need to jot down somewhere but#realising that i really do have a strict and set idea of Good Friend(ship) and what that entails to me#and id written people off bc i wasn't yk ~receiving love or friendship the way id prefer and i was angry with them for that/hurt about it#did i communicate that to them though? nooo. was i fully right in that? also no. like just bc i felt unheard didn't fully mean#that they were doing something wrong. they were trying in their own way (and sometimes they weren't really or it just wasn't nice)#but that's about how we match and how we communicate right? this is so silly that's so basic but it never fully clicked for me like this#i was blaming them for stuff and building up resentment without ever expressing that (and i still haven't yk dhshsjd)#and i think where i went ~wrong was in thinking that bc i felt that way they weren't ~giving me what i need#when it's like... but did i pick up on the ways in which they DID appreciate me and show me love etc? did i give them ANYTHING to work with?#(ok yes occasionally but also... tangent but i was watching a variety show and they were teasing woozi about how#he gives interviewers/hosts literally nothing to work with. like no extra information for them to ask about or tease him for or anything#and i was like ohhhhhh. yeah i do do that sometimes with friends and it's genuinely smth i don't really know how to do like#giving casual information (but not too much and not too little???) so they can then ask questions etc. so then if im like ughh#they never ask (the right) questions or show interest (or let me talk but that's a different thing dhsjdjd) it's like...#well do i give them the chance to? much to think about thank you woozi)#anyways where was i dhsjsnsnsjns idk but it's soooo annoying that i haven't figured this all out yet#but im slowly letting go off a bunch of resentment that has truly no business being here and im trying to self reflect and all that#and im honestly doing so shit some days but others days it's? finding stuff that matters to me on a deeper level ig?#and all of it really does pale in the face of multiple genocides and it's. but yk. if i want to keep fighting#i need to build a strong foundation and sort my shit out as well and be present so im really really trying#and beating my stupid stupid depression and brain with a stick until i get there

god i forgot what it feels like to really be INVOLVED in a story. to have it brewing in the back of your mind on a simmer instead of some spontaneous combustion infatuation that eventually burns down to a dead end. it is so fulfilling knowing i'm going to go home from work and jump back into it, and to know exactly my next step. i genuinely have not felt this way about writing since high school like i'm healed
