💖 eventually, Wally realises that your perfectionistic, workaholic tendencies aren't going away - so he compromises. on more than one occasion when you've passed out on the couch surrounded by half-read books, you've awoken to find your shoulders draped with Wally's soft cardigan. but some days are so stressful that no amount of cosy fabric will calm you down. when days where you're driven to distraction and frazzled by tasks read their heads, Wally likes to play a game of his own invention: something he calls Puppet Time. if Wally senses you're about to have a breakdown, he will announce, "it's Puppet Time!" and launch himself right into your arms. once contact is established, Wally will go completely limp, meaning there's nothing you can do but drop whatever you're holding and grab Wally before he hits the ground. no matter how stressed you are, this never fails to make you burst into laughter, and you're always much more receptive to a rest afterwards. Honestly would be such a good dad figure, he’s got four arms to carry four kids!

Would give silly lil nicknames for all the kiddos on the block; buddy, lil man, lil miss, sweetie, pumpkin, etc.

May not be the brightest caregiver but boy is he the sweetest

Would probably accidentally leave one of the kiddos on his back bc he’s got his hands full with the others, so they’re just hanging out behind him

The absolute best at pretend, he’s got stories and character roles all up his sleeves

Frank like to pretend that Howdy is turning into a butterfly, so he pretends he stays in a lil blanket cocoon and then emerges with these plastic butterfly wings on his back

It sends Frank into a frenzy every single time

If someone accidentally goes small at his Bugdega, he’ll drop everything and take them into the nearest bathroom so they can calm down and go small properly

He’ll also sneak a free treat in their pocket if they’re good, only if you’re good

Punishments are hard to give bc he’s pretty easily swayed, so he’ll probably just give you a slap on the wrist and scold you before sending you on your way

He loves his kids and he wants the best for them, he can’t stand to see them upset

Poppy 🐔

This one is the hardest to figure out bc there isn’t much to know about her, but I’ll do my best

Also a default caregiver like Howdy, they are the ultimate parent duo

Always fussing over her kiddos, she’s got bandaids and Pepto Bismol in every corner of her house

She can be a bit stern when it comes to punishment, but she isn’t downright strict or mean

All she wants is for you to be careful

Her drawers are STACKED with toys, blankets, pacis, outfits, nappys, etc.

She always prepared when something is needed

She is the absolute best baker too; you’ll come to her house and it smells like freshly baked cookies

You can come into her kitchen to find a light snack, she’ll notice and make a whole meal

She’s also a lovely singer, so she’s perfect for lullabies

Bake Me Please - I absolutely love the aesthetics of this show. They show off some of the most beautiful cakes and pastries and it's just gorgeous. I also love the way each person in the show is broken in one way or another; generational trauma, childhood trauma, dreams that feel out of reach, etc.

After my rant today I think we all know the one thing I want, NEED, to see is Shin apologize to Peach. I cannot stand the idea of Peach bearing all the emotional work for this relationship.

Cherry Magic 30 - So I'm coming at this from a place of knowing nothing about the originals. I'm really enjoying Karan just in general, his thoughtfulness, his care, all of it. He reminds me of a quote from episode 3 of The Last of Us: "Paying attention to things is how we show love." I'm also really enjoying the importance the show is putting on consent as well as Achi's care to make sure he isn't taking advantage.

I'm really going into this right now with no opinions, no theories, I'm just along for the ride. I hope we see some more cat thoughts, I guess.

Cooking Crush - I really wasn't sure if I was going to stick this one out. It's a little too goofy for my tastes but OffGun's chemistry is doing a lot of heavy lifting for me, so that's one of the things I'm enjoying. I'm also enjoying the playfulness of Ten and Prem and this cute courtship they have going on.

Last Twilight - You guys have seen my meta posts. I could wax poetic about this show all day long. Thus far I ADORE how they're treating Day's disability and showing how important him maintaining his agency is. I'm also really enjoying Mhok's perspective as a caretaker and the way he adapts and learns every day. I've been both - I'm currently disabled and I was a caretaker for five years. This show is so near and dear to my heart already.

I really hope we see what the hell is going on between Night and Day. Like, we have to, right?

Pit Babe - I'm an omegaverse bitch. I'm sorry, it's my guilty pleasure. One of the first things I do when I get the brainrot for something is go see if there are any good omegaverse fics (I'm very picky, we don't like misogyny or thinly veiled transphobia in this house, no thanks.) I'm enjoying seeing the worldbuilding of this show so far as well as each of the characters and their personalities. Everyone, even North and Sonic, feel like fully fleshed out people and I'm very much enjoying that.

I hope Way explodes - No, I hope we see them build more on the omegaverse aspect of things. I wanna see a man get pregnant. I also want to see a woman, just one woman, just a single one. Where are the women?

Playboyy - BOY HOWDY. Listen, I'm mostly watching this to avoid FOMO. I'm asexual, the sex is doing nothing for me really. The wet noises make me scream and throw my headphones off. I AM enjoying the mystery aspect of the plot a lot, I'm very curious where that is going. I'm also very much enjoying the exploration of different sexualities, like the hints that Soong and Zouey might be demisexual.

Obviously I want to know what the fuck happened to Nant, but I also just want to see more Prom. Also wanna see Aob become soft for Puen.

The Sign - My absolute beloved. I'm obsessed, I'm going to be obsessed forever I fear. The mythology is just fucking superb, the yearning is incredible, the action is great, the friendships phenomenal. I could go on and on about everything I love about this show. It's everything to me and I know I'm going to be a WRECK when it inevitably ends.

I can't wait for Phaya and Tharn to fuck, sure, but I can't wait for them to be in love. I can't wait to see them hold each other gently, look for reassurances in each other, and I hope they each regain at least some memories of their past selves and maybe how much they loved each other.

hmm today I will reveal my personal favorite ships in welcome home

if you disagree with me it's fine, just keep in mind not everyone's ships are the same

Wally and Barnaby: the first ever ship I thought of when joining the fandom. My initial thought was that the basic formula of "two best friends" and "size difference" would definitely be a win-win for the fandom, but I was actually quite surprised to see some people who despise this ship, claiming it to be "zoophilic". Needless to say that I haven't heard or seen such argument against the Fluffybird (Red Guy and Duck from DHMIS) ship, but oh well. Anyways, I just think they're very neat and could definitely be classified as a "best childhood friend who have a little something going on" dynamic. And! While I mostly see these two as mutual pining partners, I can totally view them as a simple platonic "two guys being besties and having fun"! Also I don't know if any Welcome Home ships have names, but I saw someone call this pairing Wallaby and I think I'll go with that :)

Frank and Julie: now, listen to me on this one please. I know perfectly well Frank and Eddie are a canon couple, and I'm down with that! It's just that I'm a sucker for a more platonic-romantic kind of pairing between best friends. They just seem so funky together and have the good ol' "opposites attracts" dynamic with them. Again, same case as Wallaby, I ship these two romantically, but cool with them just being pals. There isn't enough male and female friendship representation in media, and I personally believe that Frank and Julie are a good example of such. My heart just simply melts whenever a Frank/Julie art appears on my feed, it's so wholesome and soft..

Howdy and Poppy: ... okay. I don't really have enough evidence to backup this one but uh. My brain just went and created this pairing in my head and I absolutely love it. JUST GENERALLY SPEAKING both of them have a parental vibe, and the contrast between a huge green guy with multiple limbs and a giant bird with mostly red feathers is just.. pleasing for my eyes (complementary colors! complementary colors!). While the fandom widely agrees that Poppy is a "worried mom friend of the group", I haven't seen anyone say that Howdy is much of an "outgoing dad friend of the group". Personality wise they'd make a pleasant dynamic and with how both of them basically take care of others in their own ways could be played out too. And just AHHHH thinking about them makes my brain very happy!!!! if no one draws fanart of them I WILL (threat).

hello hello! who's ready to be depressed as hell? chapter nine coming soon. i fly abroad tomorrow for a week and i can't wait to have time to write more. also thank you for the love on tangerine! you guys spoil me and i love writing things you all enjoy! wah! anyway, here's a lil teaser for ya.

“Well, howdy–!” You wrapped your arms around him before he’d even finished speaking. The happy smile on his face quickly dropped to a confused frown. Ted embraced you warmly, and it was clear to see that something was very wrong. “Hey–” He was going to ask if you were alright, but he stopped himself. “It’s okay. It’s alright.”

Beard peered up at the two of you, his face stoney and thoughtful. His finger tapped on his chin in subtle curiosity and concern. Ted didn’t urge you to say anything, not for those few moments where he held you tightly. Beard gestured to Mae at the bar, and whispered “One lager, please, Mae. On our tab.” She brought it over in a matter of seconds, and you finally pulled away from Ted long enough to suck in a breath. 

You glanced at the beer on the table for you. “Thank you, Mae,” you croaked, turning to look at her as she strolled back to the bar. She smiled at you warmly, and you finally took a seat alongside the coaches. “Sorry, Coach. Didn’t mean to ambush you,” you breathed out. 

“I don’t mind it, not when it’s you who’s doing the ambushing,” Ted said, taking a sip of his beer and waving it off like it was nothing. 

“Seems to me like there’s something going on,” Beard chimed in, and took a sip of beer to mimic Ted before him. His eyes seemed mischievous, like he was looking for gossip, but that was generally what Beard looked like when he wanted to know something. He was like an old, wise owl. He placed his beer back on the table. “It’s either that, or I just haven’t noticed that you’ve always looked like you’re in the middle of an existential crisis.”

“Very funny,” you let out, tapping your glass anxiously. “I’d go with the former over the latter, Beard.” 

“I know,” he said, before he smiled at you knowingly. “Penny for your thoughts?”

You frowned at the table while Ted and Beard waited patiently for you to open up. You felt silly. How could you put your loneliness into words when it felt so unnatural? You had no reason to feel so terrible. You had a great new job, lived in a gorgeous neighbourhood, and had everything you could possibly want in life. You had the guys, and couldn’t wait until the season started up again in a few months, despite them being relegated to the Championship. You had Keeley and Rebecca, two strong and powerful women who you could confide in and rely on if you really needed to. You had… well, that was just it.

I just want to say it's been delightful watching you get into One Piece. It's been one of my main fandoms for years, but most of the people I was following who posted about it moved on to other things and I didn't have the energy to try to find new ones, so my dash has been pretty empty of it and I mostly just kept up with the anime/manga and not much else. Your enthusiasm for it, and all the art you've been posting and reblogging, has been a highlight of my days. I have a One Piece fanfic I've been trying to finish for years, and I've felt more like writing it in the past week or so than I have in a very long time (haven't actually managed it yet, but maybe soon, I hope). Now, to your question!

Serena: They've got a lot of things in common: mainly, that they're the team gluttons. If left unsupervised they will drift to a bakery unprotected and return after spending half the team's budget. They're also both absentminded as all hell, so you can constantly see Veronica chiding the two of them at the same time- Nine and Serena side by side, slightly looking like soaking wet puppies. Like partner in crimes- but the crimes are just things like disappearing into the crowd and being lost, only to be found hours later, sharing a pastry, blissfully unaware how much the other party members were frantically looking for them in concern.

They're very good friends! She's the one who Nine makes the most casual conversation to, due to them having a lot of common interests- Nine's affinity to healing magic brings them together to discuss healing magic theory together, too. Nine enjoys braiding her hair if there's nothing to be done! Serena very, very much enjoys listening to his nighttime stories of stars and constellations.

Erik: If you leave them together, their bickering will NOT end. It's a constant stream of roasts and roasting back. Despite all this, it's all in good fun- in truth, Nine is very, very fond of Erik. Ever since Erik helped El bust out of the dungeons, Nine is always very thankful to him. He's also... aggressively protective of Erik, but does not seem to realize the fact himself. Their usual conversation is on the bickering side, but they're all good-natured and both know it. ("Nine, you know your plans make no sense." "Sure, mister 'I jumped off a cliff and would have died immediately if not for El's miracle powers', tell me your wisdom, then!')

Since Nine usually has his head above in his clouds- El's a bit too used to Nine's casual chaos- it's usually up to Erik to try and "save him from himself". "Nine, stop trying to eat that loaf whole. We have a bread knife. We're not savages." "Nine, for the love of- how did you burn the cooking pot down?? It's made of copper!!" Erik is also fond of Nine, but in the way of "Good God. My partner's brother needs a leash(affectionate)" kind of way.

In return, Nine cares a lot about Erik's wellbeing: he constantly asks Erik whether he ate anything, quietly mends his clothes, forcefully sits him down to check for his wounds and tends to them personally. As I mentioned, Nine almost gets aggressively protective of Erik from time to time- Erik notices this but does not mention it.

Jade: Jade views El as a brother: and the fact that Nine had dedicated his (jade's percieved sense of) entire life to keeping Eleven safe has won her respect. She doubts his motive at first, because she instantly recongized he was a man that was hiding a bit too much inside his seams- but the fact that Nine gets hurled off a cliff just to give them a time frame to escape erased her doubts right away. She does have her own blazing questions about Nine's true identity, but she decides to keep silent in the behalf of the respect she holds against him.

It's a relationship of solemn respect, at first, Jade respecting Nine as a protector and Nine viewing Jade as a lineage of royalty and treating her as such.... but it slowly melted into something much more friendlier over the time.

Jade does not speak of it, of course, but by the time act 1 is coming to a close she already came to a point where she considers him as her second younger brother. She (half jokingly) tries to appoint Nine to come be her royal knight beside Hendrik after she is crowned queen- Nine politely refuses.

(Nine still holds a bit of regret in the fact that he could not help any of the tragedies made in the day she lost the grip of the basket.)

Another tidbit is that albeit not daily like Hendrik and Nine, they spar quite regularly. Hendrick and Nine's sparring usually follows the same routine: Hendrik, with his physical wall of defence and his slow but devastating blows, tries to brute force his way through Nine's shield spells. Nine, with his floating movements, utilize his dexterity and small form to dodge his attacks and tries to find an opening. It's a calm conversation, almost, and since they both know each other's limit, they usuallt let go of their weapons when either of them looks drained and end the sparring in a peaceful handshake.

Jade and Nine's battle, however- not so much. Jade's blows are quick, very quick, and absolutely merciless. Since Nine's go-to battle strategy is to glance off attacks by dodging, parrying, and putting up shielding spells, this means Nine have to dodge a LOT. When they spar, it's a constant flurry of movement, sounds of split-second parrying, and the dust sifting around them as Jade metaphorically chases Nine around to land a strike: it's chaos. The only thing one would be able to make out of this mess is an occasional, frantic chant of SKARA! as the gold tint of Nine's shield spell surrounds himself, only to be deftly broken by Jade's roundhouse kick. Jade does not have mercy. To her it's either a win or a loss: Either Nine puts up a shield a second late and gets flung across the field like a rag doll by a kick, or Jade loses her balance for a split second after Nine's parry and gets a sword hilt smashed against her stomach.

Nine very much enjoys sparring against her! Erik is very concerned for his sanity.

So...I haven't died...yet. I'm surviving purely out of spite, as per the usual. I'll throw the reason for my general absence under a cut, but it's still lovely to see even those of you who don't want to read. <3

My uncle (aunt's husband) is still in hospital, still not much going on "upstairs". I wouldn't call it a coma. Maybe a waking coma. IDK. He just...exists at this point. Able to move his eyes and follow conversation with them, able to watch what's on the television with them. Still unable to talk or move on his own. Sad really, but...not dead yet. IDK if he'd be comfortable with this state of living through, if I'm completely honest. However, there are children at stake atm. I know it's hard for everyone.

On August 2nd, I had to get my mother to the hospital. She, quite literally, lives on my sofa and I take care of her (started because of her financial troubles and turned into medical ones...also I think she's afraid of being alone). However, I'd been taking care of her even more for months at that point while she didn't want to go to the hospital...mostly because she's a stubborn whatsit. It was running me ragged. She was in a great deal of pain and there wasn't any "reason" for it that we could tell. No slips, no falls, no harsh turns, no heavy lifting. None of the usual reasons. She always had a bad back as I was growing up, something I happened to inherit (lucky me), but this was more painful than anything she had previously experienced. This was something else. Agoraphobic me took her to a specialist the Tuesday before and she had a CT scanned for that upcoming Monday, which she had to cancel because of the pain (August 2nd was a Wednesday, btw). I couldn't get her out of my flat because of said pain, so I called 9-1-1 to come and retrieve her. She's been in the hospital since. They quickly wanted to release her from the ER the same day she got there with some pain meds (and without having done any actual scans), but my aunt (her sister and a different aunt than the one whose husband is in the hospital) advocated for her...thankfully. Turns out my mother actually has Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. A large growth in her back that had crushed 2 of her vertebrae that was not present when she had scans for a gallbladder thing in January 2022...and THEY WANTED TO RELEASE HER initially.

So far, she's had surgery to place rods in her spine and move the tumor so it isn't pressing on the nerves, but that's come with a whole thing as well. Infection, post-op blood loss (that they couldn't find the cause of as there were no active bleeds and she had to receive 10 units of blood), fluid retention, losing the ability to walk (though they're doing bedside PT and I think it's because of the previously mentioned blood loss), time spent in ICU. (Which they answer the phones as MICU (read mick-you), which sounds an awful lot like NICU, so I thought I was calling the wrong

I speak to her through Google Meet, but...I feel awful. Hospitals are hella triggering for me, well beyond just not liking to be there. I haven't been in to see my uncle either. I have very good days where I'm able to do things and very bad days where I'm stuck in bed. Sometimes one can turn into the other at the drop of a hat so...that sucks. Thank the gods for Instacart, that's for sure.

I guess we’ll just block you if you suck. We dont like taking a stance on anything most of the time, and aren’t interested in discourse. Generally assume that we’ll keep an open mind to anything. My moral compass is crooked and rather broken, really. I don’t think there’s any fixing it after the things I’ve been complacent in 🤷. So I won’t bother! In short, freaks and monsters are welcomed with open arms.

Just a disclaimer, we got cancelled on Quotev for abusing an ex. We did all the actions they claimed, but I don’t think we “groomed” them like they claimed. Grooming is intentional and requires planning something out in advance and preparing someone for a specific purpose. We really just acted on our impulses. Also, they LITERALLY asked for it. They told us, pretty directly, that if we didn’t hurt them, they’d hurt themselves. We were very desperate to get them to stop hurting themselves, and we were very desperate to prove we cared about them, and that we wouldn’t abandon them. Everything we did, we did either because we thought they wanted it, or because we were trying to make sure they didn’t leave us. If you asked our ex, they’d say I took the wrong lesson away from that relationship. Our host believes that they (host) took the right lesson away from the relationship. I think we’re both a little off, if I’m honest, but I’m also pretty stubborn and since I don’t know what the “right lesson” is supposed to be, I’m doubling down on my worldview. Which is that the relationship would’ve worked out if we’d been unapologetic, if we hadn’t let ourselves get guilty, if we hadn’t doubted ourselves, and if we didn’t give in to a pit of self-loathing. The final straw, in my opinion, was when we “tried to get better” and didn’t constantly give them what we thought was best for them but started to listen to what they thought was best. We let them break our resolve. And the worst thing we did in that relationship wasn’t the horrible torment we did, but our doubt of our actions and our guilt.

So here’s my warning: I’m unapologetically horrible. I’m going to do what I think is best, and you’re probably not going to change my mind. Im not mean, I’m quite accepting and warm and loving, but I am absolutely pushy and I will break down whatever walls I think are necessary to form the connections I want in the relationships I need. If I take a liking to you, it’s probably going to hurt. I won’t be deceitful, I’ll be pretty direct and honest with the intentions behind my actions, like I am being right now, but I’m definitely going to do exactly what I think is necessary to progress a relationship in the direction I want. I’m looking for a bestest ever best buddy, and if I think you’re the right one to be my bff, let’s just say I could be your angle or yuor debil! ;>!! But seriously, I’m gonna be horrible if it’s necessary. I’ll do pretty much anything short of murder! 🌟Quasi. They/them. Me! Former host before current host. (Technically there was a host between us, but they split in half and half merged into me and the other half merged into the current host.)

🖤Coghlan. He/it. My knife wife. He likes cutting me up in erotic ways. A bit overprotective and very obsessive. He used to not care about any alters that weren’t me, but now he’s taken a role that’s rather charmingly protective of the others. It doesn’t want to let anyone fight in unproductive ways. It pretty much does whatever I want, though.

🔭Stella. She/they. An absolute sweetheart. Very hopeful and positive and quite silly. She’s convinced that we’re not a bad person, though. The parts of me that cared about being a good person fragmented off and melted into them. Super optimistic. Cares about creating art and beautiful stories. She tends to ignore the parts of us that don’t fit her vision of what we are, but doesn’t actively suppress them the way host does.

🧤Northie. They/them. The wounded child. A syskid, so they probably won’t be here often. Be gentle with them or you’ll have me, Starbound, and Coghlan to contend with. They believe that feeling our negative emotions is a necessity to processing them. A kind of “the only way out is through” way of thinking, which contrasts strongly with host’s method of suppressing everything to the point where a weird black ocean slaughters half the system “on accident.”

🐭Phoebe. It/she/they. It only cares about survival, and is our base instinct of “get out now.” Not very interested in relationships or talking to people, so it probably won’t talk to anybody, unless it feels necessary to warn you of some impending peril that you need to run from immediately. Absolutely coward that will choose running and hiding above any kind of risk, or in her words “surviving.” Although in its defense, it keeps us alive. Even if they’re boring about being safe always.

🎆Starbound. “She/her” for simplicity, any pronouns with no personal preference. Pure and unbridled rage. Her favorite word is “bitch” and she’ll refer to everyone, including herself, as a bitch. She’s more of a righteous fury than a hateful fury. Very interested in fighting injustices. She cares about people more than she lets on, but has a temper worse than an active volcano.

🍠Kakxyl. “He/him” for simplicity, any pronouns with no personal preference. The system’s internal father figure. Goes out for milk a lot but always comes back. He usually knows everything that’s going on with the system and tells us revelations about inner mechanisms. But he also is cryptic and quiet. Probably won’t talk to anyone. I only listed him here for the sake of having a complete list of the alters that survived the flood. More of us will be coming out of the ocean, that’s what Kakxyl told us, but for now it’s just us and host.
