I genuinely feel like the plot of Johnny and Sonya differing in ideologies in MKX with Sonya being too focused on her duties would've been solved if it was instead Jax she would marry. 'Cause then it'll be the two of them in the same boat! Johnny just doesn’t really have the experience to fathom the importance of special force's job, being only a rookie in MKX, or–a more grim interpretation–he doesn't take Sonya's opinions seriously, having this typical Hollywood star belief he's always right.

Sure, if Sonya and Jax got married, Cassie and Jacqui wouldn't have happened (not sure about Jacqui, but Cassie was an unplanned pregnancy caused by Johnny's ignorance, and I'm plenty sure Jax would be more careful than that), but... if they somehow miraculously did, I think having them be sisters be sooo cute, especially since MK has a major sibling problem where the related characters are just mean to each other (see Bi Han and Kuai Liang, Kitana and Mileena).

No offense to Johnny (read: I don't really like you unless you're the twink from MK1), but Sonya must've felt pity

I hate bottom Kung Lao. With all my soul

Everywhere I go, I see it. "It's brat taming" shut up? Like Kung Lao doesn't get humbled far too many times already in the canon 🙄 (looking at you, MK11 cast who are sooo incredibly mean to him for no reason). How would you feel, if you were looked down upon almost your entire life, everyone viewing you as just a "second place", only for this to EXTEND in bed? Idk about you, I would've flipped.

(Before you jump me, bottoming doesn't actually make you lesser, but the act itself is unfortunately too jeopardized nowadays. Ex: person A putting person B "in their place" by domming them)

And it's crazy 'cause in the fujoshi terms, I'm a snake (someone who's fav is always a bottom). Kung Lao just seems like the only exception, probably because I feel so bad for this guy that he gets humbled in every way possible that I just want him to feel control at least in relations with his partner (and not in a needy pathetic way, God I get icked by service top Lao—let my man be a full-on dom goddammit!!)

Perhaps this is one of the few reasons why MK2021 movie Lao is the goat in my book, I rarely saw fanworks of him being the receiver, and it's such a breath of fresh air for me. And if he does, it’s with characters that I can see him getting under (Kano for example; in no universe is this hunk taking it up the ass)

Despite everything I said, there are some instances in which I think Kung Lao works best as a sub. Like... Railao? Raiden is the bottom, 'cause he's just a sweet guy who doesn't necessarily like control. Goro/Kung Lao (idk what this ship is called)? Yeah no, Lao's getting backshots.

Sorry I need to talk about the Squid game 2 fandom because what the hell 😍

Specifically the Daeho/Junhee ship, since for some reason everyone collectively agreed that they're sibling coded and decided it's everyone's problem now.

Before you attack me, I don't mind seeing them as siblings, alright? If you think they're like older brother and younger sister, that's fine! Cute, even, considering Daeho is the youngest in his family and now he finally got a chance to be in his sisters' shoes.

What's NOT fine, is being a party pooper about it and nagging the shippers with "But they're literally siblings!" WHEN THEY'RE LITERALLY NOT?? It just makes us (yeah, I'm one of the shippers, that's why I'm frustrated) look like villains with shipping two adults that are not blood-related. Why

"Myunggi/Junhee is canon" yeah, it is. So? Gihun and his wife were also canon. Ali and his wife are canon. Deoksu and Minyeo too. You don't have an issue shipping them with other characters, why is it an issue now?

"Daeho is literally gay" I'M GOING TO KILL YOU. Daeho was raised primarily by women, has a "non-masculine" haircut, and knows best how to play a traditionally girly game. You saying he's gay just feeds into the harmful stereotype that gay men are feminine. You are not aiding the queer community I fear.

"This is such a non-issue" I know, but I see absolutely no one talk about it, so I might as well be the pathfinder.

My honest opinion on characters from Mouthwashing

Curly: A thumbs up for at least caring for his own crew 👍. Not much I want to say though cuz tbh I did not care for this dude. Especially since he's so forgiving of Jimmy. Usually, in any other instance, I'd love a character who's extremely selfless and sees beauty even in the most ugly, but my hatred towards Jimmy is THAT strong, sorry.

Jimmy: HATE. HATE. LET ME TELL YOU, HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE-

Anya: Girl... get out of there.. like.... 😢 I was genuinely sad, she's such a nice person who tried her best not to go insane. Gotta love anxious but kind nurse characters. (Spoilers: the fact that she died last (if not counting Jimmy) was surprising, I thought she'd be the first)

Swansea: Idk at first I disliked him but kinda grew attached? I wouldn't say I love him as much as Anya and Daisuke, considering he's an alcoholic and that's like a personal trigger for me. But if I were to pick between a clinical alcoholic (who isn't even physically violent when drunk by the way, just kinda cringe) and a guy who thinks he's always right and should never change, I'd pick the former. Banger name btw, love it 👍

Daisuke: MY DUDE WAS TRYING TO DO HIS JOB MAN WTF!!! Daisuke is my beloved in this game alongside Anya, both of whom are the only people who didn't deserve any of this shit. Though maybe it's because I'm a sucker for overwhelmingly positive and quirky support characters (I meaaan he did remind me a lot of Joe from Your Turn To Die)

mouthwashing post. jimmy is a raging narcissist and im tired of people trying to give him benefit of the doubt. his inability to see two feet beyond what immediately concerns him dooms everyone on the tulpar, and even in the end, he only really cares about himself.

big list of all his narcisstic bullshit below bc im here to motherfucking prove it (mouthwashing spoilers of course)

most obviously: everything is a personal attack on him. EVERYTHING. you can see it most clearly at the birthday party; while everyone else is understandably freaking out about being laid off, jimmy starts telling curly off and insulting both him and everyone else at the table, as if being laid off is a personal attack on jimmy specifically. it doesn’t matter that anya has nothing to go back to, that swansea’s life is thrown away- jimmy is the ONLY victim here, apparently. curly is personally responsible for getting laid off, in his eyes.

i don’t actually know the words for this but the way he’s constantly going “i have to do EVERYTHING around here”- again, feeling like its a personal attack to be asked anything at all. anya asks him to take care of curly because her entire fucking life is falling apart, its her end of days, but somehow shes the villain for struggling.

also the general antagonization of anya. she’s extremely competent for the hand she was dealt! shes too poor to attend med school yet shes very knoqledgable in medication and wound care! and yeah no shit shes struggling now, someone she cared deeply about is suffering immensely and now the ship is being “run” by a man who assaulted her. no fucking shit shes breaking down. but jimmy makes it clear time and time again that this is somehow her fault, all this shit of “shouldn’t nurses EARN their titles?” while she’s having a mental breakdown.

similarly, swansea being villainized for holding the cryopod for daisuke and killing him. like, i get it, but jimmy’s whole thing of saying he can fix daisuke is… c’mon man. he’s a hero to himself, he “always” fixes things the same way he “fixed” the ship, and he will fix daisuke and claim heroism even though it’s very clear nothing else can be done for him.

“someday you’ll thank me” while forcing curly to eat his own leg. the incredible confidence that he is in the right even when literally torturing someone.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: the final scene with curly burning. jimmy doesn’t earnestly believe he has anything to be sorry for. even when apologizing to curly he says “we can BOTH be heroes!” despite everything, he still thinks he’s in the right. he STILL thinks he’s a hero, because he’s right, he’s ALWAYS right, surely. he can apologize and grovel all he wants but in the end he still thinks he’s the hero of this story; he doesn’t genuinely think he has anything to right, he’s only doing this to be freed of consequence. and/or believes a simple “sorry” is enough, that it can fix completely ruining the lives of four people with his own inferiority complex.

i do think the choice to put curly in the pod instead of himself is the only time he recognizes his own guilt, if any. maybe it’s realizing that he DOES need something more than a simple “sorry” to even begin to try to fix things, maybe it’s that he thinks this will cement him even further as a hero. even then, does this fix anything? all it’s doing is making curly suffer more. is this actually a good thing?

to him, he’s the hero here. he always is. crashing the ship is a heroic thing, putting all his crewmates through hell is a heroic thing. all because something nobody can control is somehow a personal attack on jimmy.

not to mention all the “hallucinations” he has- it’s what he thinks should happen, it’s what he wants to hear. curly still calling him a friend, the dead corpses of his crewmates praising him, even in the final cutscene with curly burning where he says “no, YOU take the pod”. none of it’s real. it’s just what jimmy thinks is “right”. despite everything, he thinks everyone should thank and praise him, because he can do no wrong.

conclusion: jimmy is a narcisstic piece of shit.

ermm... I've been thinking about drawing some stuff about mk in the near future

the current list of plans is:

- redesign and rewrite everything, making an entirely separate mk story (will take a while)

- magical girl au except it's mk1 where kung lao, raiden, kenshi and johnny are tasked to become magical protectors by liu kang and preserve earthrealm from invaders (heavily inspired by madoka magica)

- an ns/fw comic featuring the earthrealm quartet (basically poly sm/ut)
