Did Mertle's friends ever become friends with Lilo?

Yes, they did! Under the “lilo’s college days” tag, you’ll see more info. Mertle, Yuki, Teresa, Elena, Lilo and Victoria all became a group of friends after their senior year of high school, right before they graduated hula. It started for Mertle specifically when her dad died and Lilo understood her grief and showed her compassion, in spite of the way Mertle had treated her over the years. After that, they very gradually became friends, Mertle swearing Lilo is her best friend, and it wasn’t hard for the other girls to follow her lead (because they never really disliked Lilo as vehemently as Mertle had anyway). They jokingly call themselves the CHGH now (Current Hawaiian Girls of Hawaii), and though Mertle and the girls can still be rude and shallow towards Lilo and Victoria, they’re all buddies and it’s a tight-knit group by the time they hit college-age. After all, they’ve known each other since they were 6.

In college, they all go to Honolulu University except for Yuki, who went to a different school to pursue a sports career. Yuki visited Honolulu sometimes to catch up with the girls on her breaks from school. Zeke Lau, Ani’s dad, is technically part of the friend group too, but they don’t include him as in the “CHGH” term for obvious reasons. Zeke’s bandmates and guy friends, Neal and Kale, sometimes hang out with the girls also.

So yes! Friends! Ohana, even! It just took growing up to get it right.

Victoria beats all of them. Lilo and Mertle spend the whole time competing. Mertle is initially contemptuous; won't pick up a controller until goaded. Teresa hates video games, just here for the popcorn. Elena is the sort of player who spends the whole time looking at the scenery. Yuki is second-best-gamer there when she visits Honolulu U. And Zeke is the one who dies most often.

She hasn't seen anything yet, though it wasn't like she'd want to go clothes shopping without them either. So the landing question of what matching outfits, had completely threw her off into a hard zone out of thought. Digits drummed agsinst her lips, trying to think about it - but the follow up suggestion regarding their love pulled her out of it, jumping in place a bit with a squeak.

"Yes- we need to do that, where could we find such clothing though? We need to find something like that, we need to right now."

When she heard the sound of her voice, she suddenly stopped moving. Seconds passed and she remained frozen in place, listening to the sounds of her footsteps approaching. Before she got too close, though, Maya's body contorted and spun around unnaturally, like a wringed cloth unravelling in a split second. Her flowy gown made her look like a bird of paradise swaying in place until she settled on her heels with her posture slumped forward in a zombie-like manner. She was staring right at her. @Ez

Too bad she had to get close and take the brunt of the fine print dead in her face, Ezme didn't think too much of it while she approached - but that thinking or to be any traces, ceased entirely as soon as the stranger spun around, making her pause mid-step, brows furrowing under a taut pressure. Eyes slowly and visibly travelled down her body, already thrown into an unstable set of mind now for what she was trying to process - blood seemingly went icy to the point she could've been announced dead on the spot for a split second. She really didn't know what she was looking at in any correct lighting at all and threw her brain into the blender, but the longer she gawked, the faster things had settled into a reality of discomfort the more she moved. With what sight she could see regarding attire, still dropped no clues in mind but all that spoke to her was a big internal wheeze that wouldn't sound out as if air was caught in her throat somehow. The doppelgänger never seemed to have issues with the most grotesque looking things ever, but this just sent uncanny chills through her spine, up to the point she raised a freehand eye level to Maya and hers, assumably that is while Ezme. She wasn't handling the staring very good.

"I bet my drink is just laced with some hallucinogen and it's kicking in overtime- or I brought something in here with me that I was never aware of- whichever the two, state your business." Even if she managed to string words together, her tone was steeped in disbelief and audible concern - likely for her own well being that she could've crushed her cup from the tension while all she had blocking each other's gaze was her hand.
