What if Lilo Pelekai and Mertle Edmonds were 15 and we're friends.

Mertle stopped being a horrible child/bully, her mother finally disciplining her daughter. Mertle is made to work at a part-time store, to learn how to make her own money. Lilo eventually forgives her after a couple of months, due to mertle giving her an actual apology and changing her behavior after suffering consequences.

Not becoming friends but neutrals at the time. Until later in life it's when they finally become friends, and stronger as time goes by.

A massive crossover for the @tmntaucompetition with a bunch of iterations and aus we really like. Hopefully we can do more crossovers with ones we haven't yet. Also there's a bit of time between every interaction Raph has with someone, we weren't sure how to convey that :,D I really enjoyed making this and creating their interactions; I hope I got their personalities right! Did Mertle's friends ever become friends with Lilo?

Yes, they did! Under the “lilo’s college days” tag, you’ll see more info. Mertle, Yuki, Teresa, Elena, Lilo and Victoria all became a group of friends after their senior year of high school, right before they graduated hula. It started for Mertle specifically when her dad died and Lilo understood her grief and showed her compassion, in spite of the way Mertle had treated her over the years. After that, they very gradually became friends, Mertle swearing Lilo is her best friend, and it wasn’t hard for the other girls to follow her lead (because they never really disliked Lilo as vehemently as Mertle had anyway). They jokingly call themselves the CHGH now (Current Hawaiian Girls of Hawaii), and though Mertle and the girls can still be rude and shallow towards Lilo and Victoria, they’re all buddies and it’s a tight-knit group by the time they hit college-age. After all, they’ve known each other since they were 6.

In college, they all go to Honolulu University except for Yuki, who went to a different school to pursue a sports career. Yuki visited Honolulu sometimes to catch up with the girls on her breaks from school. Zeke Lau, Ani’s dad, is technically part of the friend group too, but they don’t include him as in the “CHGH” term for obvious reasons. Zeke’s bandmates and guy friends, Neal and Kale, sometimes hang out with the girls also.

So yes! Friends! Ohana, even! It just took growing up to get it right.

it was going to happen eventually. mertle knew it, deep down, she knew, at some point or another, it was going to happen. she would do what she always did, absolutely destroying the only good thing she had going for herself right now. it hadn't happened yet, not entirely, but she was on the cusp of it. toes were hovering near a very jagged edge and attempting to find balance, and yet... ❛ for FUCK sakes, ❜ mertle huffed beneath her breath, having grown entirely stiff on the couch next to fred, sending yet ANOTHER call from her father to voicemail. her mother, that spineless fuck, had gone on to tell her dad all about ... well, HER. it had been a mistake, calling her mother, trying to tell her about the good she had built for herself here. OF COURSE, her mother — desperate to keep any sort of contact with her estranged husband — ran and told daddy dearest just how swell the apple of their eye was doing. now he wouldn't stop fucking calling her. mertle was seething, inhaling deeply through her nose, feeling misplaced anger rising in her throat like bile. if she didn't get out now, she'd explode, and fred would be caught in the crossfire. he was getting too close, too involved with her, and the real mertle was clawing at the walls of her enclosure trying to burst free from her confinement. ❛ fred... i need you to take me home, ❜ mertle said, her words tight, gripping her phone with a force that should have had it cracking beneath the pressure.
