Guys I don't know what happened with me, but I'm just literally dead

I'll go to doctor soon, 'cause it's very weird

Anyway, I think it's not a stupid idea to do something different today. So I'll post there a list with my favourite books which I was reading this year ('cause really, I didn't do anything today, just watching Heartstopper and sleeping)

So let's begin❤️

1) "Bones and all" by Camille De Angelis

The book tells the story of a young cannibal, who after her mother leaves her, sets out into the world with only books, some dollars and minimal knowledge of where to go to find her father, who she also suspects of cannibalism. Along the way, she meets a cannibal and the're becoming befriends, and next they're falling in love.

But, if you don't like horror books, or you just emotional, better don't read it. The scenes are so terrifying sometimes. I love this book all my heart, I think it's my number one of this year.

2) "The Queen's Gambit" by Walter Tevis

I have to admit that I watched the series first, then read the book. The series was popular on Netflix for its time, and by the way it was brilliant, as was the book. Orphanage girl Beth Harmon has an extraordinary mind and her favorite pastime is playing chess with the janitor at her orphanage.

After she's adopted, we can watch her rise as a talented chess player as well as her downfalls. In my view, the book is better than the series. I read it in only three days, but the series was filmed very well.

3) "Double Vision" by Zdeněk Sverák

(no photo 'cause I can't find it)

It was very enjoyable to read. It is a collection of short stories by the author, written with typical Czech humour, quite specific. I didn't like some of the stories, but most were great. by the way, the author of this book is also the author of the famous "Kola", a Czech popular movie.

Rosalie Lamorlière (1768-1848)

Ou celle dont on se souvient majoritairement parce qu’elle est un personnage de Lady Oscar.

Riyoko Ikeda, l’autrice de Lady Oscar (Versailles no Bara au Japon), a fait un travail de dingue pour la réalisation de son manga et les préfaces et postfaces des mangas expliquent certains anachronismes que l’on pardonne aisément (Oscar portant un uniforme plutôt napoléonien, par exemple, parce qu’elle a eu la documentation trop tard). Cependant, elle a aussi pris de grandes libertés artistiques pour certains personnages historiques, ce qui est le cas de Rosalie : elle s’est inspirée de son destin initial, être la dernière servante de Marie-Antoinette, pour lui faire une saga épique, tragique aussi, et remplaçant avec un autre personnage les époux Desmoulins (Camille et Lucille), tous les deux guillotinés en 1794.

La vraie Rosalie Lamorlière est très différente de celle d’Ikeda et c’est d’elle dont j’ai envie de vous parler aujourd’hui.

Rosalie Lamorlière, de son nom complet Marie-Rosalie Lamorlière, est née le 19 mars 1768 à Breteuil, dans l’Oise. Son père est cordonnier. Elle est issue d’une fratrie de sept enfants et elle a le malheur de perdre sa mère à l’âge de douze ans.

Et si l’Histoire retient la modeste Rosalie qui est, à l’époque, Madame tout le monde, c’est parce qu’elle est la toute dernière servante de Marie-Antoinette.

Après les massacres qui ont eu lieu début septembre 1792 et qui ont vu des horreurs innommables, notamment la mort inique de la pauvre Princesse de Lamballe qui mériterait son propre article, Rosalie est engagée par le couple Richard qui est responsable de la Conciergerie, laquelle est une prison pour les personnes qui doivent être jugées avant d’être guillotinées.

Le 02 août 1793, un peu moins d’un mois après que son fils, Louis-Charles (1785-1795), lui ait été arraché pour être élevé en révolutionnaire, Marie-Antoinette (1755-1793), dite la Veuve Capet depuis le décès de Louis XVI (1754-1793), doit dire au revoir à sa belle-sœur Elisabeth (1764-1794) ainsi qu’à sa fille Marie-Thérèse Charlotte (1778-1851). On l’emmène en effet à la Conciergerie dans l’attente de son procès. Rosalie est affectée à son service et doit faire en sorte de « la tenir ». En effet, la reine déchue est très malade : elle a des pertes de sang utérines importantes. Aujourd’hui, on pense qu’elle aurait pu souffrir d’un cancer de l’utérus, d’un fibrome ou, dans une mesure moins dramatique, aurait subi une ménopause précoce causée par les traumatismes qu’elle a vécus, un peu à l’instar de Joséphine de Beauharnais, future Impératrice des Français.

Rosalie sera l’un des anges de Marie-Antoinette durant les soixante-seize jours la séparant de son exécution, essayant d’adoucir sa captivité par des petites attentions.

Elle rapportera également dans ses mémoires la vie de l’ancienne souveraine durant son enfermement, montrant l’extrême dénuement dans lequel elle était mais aussi la sympathie qu’elle a pu attirer :

« Sa coiffure, depuis son entrée à la Conciergerie, était des plus simples. Elle partageait ses cheveux sur le front, après y avoir mis un peu de poudre embaumée. Madame Harel, avec un bout de ruban blanc, les nouait avec force, et puis donnait les deux barbes de ce ruban à Madame, qui, les croisant elle-même, et les fixa sur le haut de sa tête, donnait à sa chevelure blonde la forme d’un chignon mouvant.

Le 2 août, pendant la nuit, quand la reine arriva du Temple, je remarquai qu’on n’avait amené avec elle aucune espèce de hardes, ni de vêtements. Le lendemain, et tous les jours suivants, cette malheureuse princesse demandait du linge, et Madame Richard, craignant de se compromettre, n’osait lui en prêter, ni lui en fournir. Enfin, le municipal Michonis, qui, dans le cœur, était honnête homme, se transporta au Temple, et le dixième jour, on apporta du donjon, un paquet, que la reine ouvrit promptement. C’étaient de belles chemises de batiste, des mouchoirs de poche, des fichus, des bas de soie ou de filoselle noirs, un déshabillé blanc pour le matin, quelques bonnets de nuit, et plusieurs bouts de ruban blanc, de largeurs inégales.

Le matin, en se levant, elle chaussait de petites pantoufles rabattues, et tous les deux jours, je brossais se jolis souliers noirs de prunelle, dont le talon, d’environ deux pouces, était à la Saint-Huberty. Madame Richard me permit de prêter ma petite glace à la reine. Je ne l’offris qu’en rougissant. Ce miroir, acheté sur les quais, ne m’avait coûté que 25 sous d’assignats ! Je crois le voir encore : sa bordure était rouge, et des manières de Chinois étaient peints sur les deux côtés. La reine agréa ce miroir comme une chose d’importance, et Sa Majesté s’en est servie jusqu’au dernier jour. »

C’est elle aussi qui nous rapporte les derniers instants de Marie-Antoinette avant de partir vers l’échafaud le 16 octobre 1793.

«En entrant dans le cachot, où brûlaient deux lumières, j’aperçus un officier de gendarmerie assis dans l’angle de gauche et, m’étant approchée de Madame, je la vis tout habillée de noir, étendue sur son lit.

Le visage tourné vers la fenêtre, elle appuyait sa tête sur sa main. Madame, lui dis-je en tremblant, vous n’avez rien pris hier au soir, et presque rien dans la journée. Que désirez-vous prendre ce matin ? La reine versait des larmes en abondance. Elle me répondit : Ma fille, je n’ai plus besoin de rien, tout est fini pour moi. Je pris la liberté d’ajouter : Madame, j’ai conservé sur mes fourneaux un bouillon et un vermicelle ; vous avez besoin de vous soutenir, permettez-moi de vous apporter quelque chose.

Les pleurs de la reine redoublèrent, et elle me dit : Rosalie, apportez-moi un bouillon. J’allai le chercher ; elle se mit sur son séant et ne put en avaler que quelques cuillerées ; j’atteste devant Dieu que son corps n’a pas reçu d’autre nourriture, et j’eus lieu de me convaincre qu’elle perdait tout son sang.

Un peu avant le jour déclaré, un ecclésiastique autorisé par le gouvernement se présenta chez la reine et lui offrit de l’entendre en confession. Sa Majesté, apprenant de lui-même qu’il était un des curés de Paris en exercice, comprit qu’il avait prêté serment, et elle refusa son ministère. On parla de cette circonstance dans la maison.

Lorsque le jour fut venu, c’est-à-dire à peu près vers les 8 heures du matin, je retournai chez Madame pour l’aider à s’habiller, ainsi qu’elle me l’avait indiqué lorsqu’elle prit le peu de bouillon sur son lit. Sa Majesté passa dans la petite ruelle que je laissais ordinairement entre son lit de sangle et la muraille. Elle déploya elle-même une chemise qu’on avait apportée, probablement en mon absence, et, m’ayant fait signe de me tenir devant son lit pour ôter la vue de son corps au gendarme, elle se baissa dans la ruelle et abattit sa robe afin de changer de linge pour la dernière fois. L’officier de gendarmerie s’approcha de nous à l’instant et, se tenant auprès du traversin, regarda changer la princesse. Sa Majesté aussitôt remit son fichu sur ses épaules et, avec une grande douceur, elle dit à ce jeune homme : Au nom de l’honnêteté, Monsieur, permettez que je change de linge sans témoin.

– Je ne saurais y consentir, répondit brusquement le gendarme : mes ordres portent que je dois avoir l’œil sur tous vos mouvements.

La reine soupira, passa sa dernière chemise avec toutes les précautions et toute la modestie possibles, prit pour vêtement non pas sa longue robe de deuil qu’elle avait encore devant ses juges, mais le déshabillé blanc qui lui servait ordinairement de robe du matin et, déployant son grand fichu de mousseline, elle le croisa sous le menton.

Le trouble que me causait la brutalité du gendarme ne me permit point de remarquer si la princesse avait encore le médaillon de Monsieur le dauphin, mais il fut aisé de voir qu’elle roulait soigneusement sa pauvre chemise ensanglantée. Elle la renferma dans une de ses manches comme dans un fourreau, puis elle serra ce linge dans un espace qu’elle aperçut entre l’ancienne toile à papier et la muraille.

La veille, sachant qu’elle allait paraître devant le public et devant les juges, elle donna par bienséance un peu d’élévation à ses cheveux. Elle ajouta aussi à son bonnet de linon, bordé d’une petite garniture plissée, les deux barbes volantes qu’elle conservait dans le carton ; et sous ces barbes de deuil elle avait ajusté proprement un crêpe noir, qui lui faisait une jolie coiffure de veuve.

Pour aller à la mort, elle ne garda que le simple bonnet de linon, sans barbes ni marques de deuil ; mais, n’ayant qu’une seule chaussure, elle conserva ses bas noirs et ses souliers de prunelle, qu’elle n’avait point déformés ni gâtés depuis soixante-seize jours qu’elle était avec nous.

Je la quittai sans oser lui faire des adieux, ni une seule révérence de peur de la compromettre et de l’affliger. Je m’en allai pleurer dans mon cabinet, et prier Dieu pour elle. »

Marie-Antoinette meurt guillotinée le 16 octobre 1793 à 12h15, place de la Révolution, l’actuelle place de la Concorde.

Rosalie redevient plus ou moins une anonyme.

En 1801, elle met au monde sa fille, Marie-Rosalie (1801-1895) dont le père, auquel elle n’est pas mariée, est inconnu.

En 1824, en remerciement de sa bonté pour sa mère, Marie-Thérèse Charlotte, alors duchesse d’Angoulême, lui verse une pension.

Rosalie meurt le 02 février 1848, à quelques semaines de ses 80 ans.

Elle repose au cimetière du Père Lachaise et sa fille a fait graver cette épitaphe en hommage à sa chère maman :

La véritable Rosalie est bien loin de celle dépeinte par Ikeda mais à dire vrai, elle m’est tout aussi attachante.

Tiempos de penuria e ilusión

[La ROSS ensayando esta semana con Soustrot la 3ª de Mahler en el escenario del Maestranza / MARINA CASANOVA]

Temporada ecléctica con doce programas sinfónicos en el Maestranza

En la presentación del curso pasado el maestro Marc Soustrot anunció integrales sinfónicas de Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Chaikovski y Mahler, que se escucharían a lo largo de dos temporadas consecutivas. Cancelado el Festival Beethoven, caídas por la huelga dos sinfonías de Mahler y una de Chaikovski, el proyecto ha terminado de derrumbarse por completo al comprobar que para la temporada próxima finalmente sólo están previstas la 9ª de Mahler y la 1ª de Chaikovski (tendrían que haber sido cinco sinfonías del primero y tres del segundo, además de dos de Schumann y las ocho de Schubert). Soustrot aludió a problemas presupuestarios para un cambio tan radical en sus intenciones, que lo ha llevado a concebir una ecléctica programación de repertorio en la que la penuria económica se aprecia también en los detalles: ni un solo programa con coro, directores y solistas sin alharacas, recurriendo incluso al pianista premiado en el concurso María Canals (el canadiense de 24 años Jaeden Izik-Dzurko, que tocará el Concierto de Schumann y para quien actuar junto a la ROSS es ya parte del Premio) y a dos clarinetistas de la orquesta (Szymyslik y Fernández Sánchez, que harán un Concierto doble de Krommer).

Sí se mantiene la promesa de incluir música actual: cuatro compositoras (Elena Mendoza, Lula Romero, Inmaculada Almendral y Nuria Núñez Hierro) estrenarán sendas obras, cada una de ellas dedicada a una estación del año. El repertorio combina partituras de gran popularidad (9ª de Dvorák, 4ª de Bruckner, Concierto para violín de Beethoven, Scheherazade de Rimski-Kórsakov, Concierto para piano de Schumann, Doble concierto de Brahms, Kindertotenlieder de Mahler, Concierto para orquesta de Bartók) con otras mucho menos transitadas, aunque en absoluto desconocidas (Danzas sinfónicas de Rajmáninov, 3ª de Saint-Saëns, 3ª de Honegger, 5ª de Prokófiev, Concierto para oboe de Strauss, La sirenita de Zemlinsky o la reducción orquestal que de la Tetralogía de Wagner hizo Lorin Maazel).

Soustrot se reserva siete de los doce programas sinfónicos del Maestranza. De los maestros invitados, dos son españoles, el joven y premiado gaditano Julio García Vico y el balear Antonio Méndez, y tres foráneos: el maestro de Singapur Darrel Ang, el danés Michael Schønwandt (que este año no pudo hacer la 7ª de Mahler y el año próximo tiene asignada su 9ª) y la polaca Marzena Diakun, actual titular de la ORCAM (Orquesta y Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid). Entre los solistas, Juan Pérez Floristán se perdió por la huelga el 1º de Bartók y ahora hará el 3º. La oboísta linarense Cristina Gómez Godoy tocará el Concierto de Strauss y el violinista de Alcalá de Guadaíra Javier Comesaña compartirá con el húngaro István Vardai el Doble de Brahms. También participa la violonchelista parisina Camille Thomas (Concierto de Lalo) y el violinista ruso Serguei Dogadin (Beethoven). Para los dos programas vocales, están invitadas la moscovita Alisa Kolosova (Kindertotenlieder) y la joven china Meigui Zhang (Cantos de Auvernia de Canteloube).

Interesante resulta la propuesta didáctica, hay tres conciertos extravagantes en el Lope de Vega (dedicados al cine, la poesía y la danza) y entre los diez conciertos de cámara (Espacio Turina en las matinales de los domingos), llama la atención el dominio casi absoluto de los conjuntos de cuerda y una doble participación externa, ya que uno de los conciertos lo darán los ganadores del concurso José Gámez que organiza el Conservatorio y otro será, por propuesta de Juventudes Musicales, el del dúo de pianos Promenade.

Después de que dos huelgas y una pandemia hayan marcado profundamente los cuatro últimos años de vida de la ROSS, la ilusión que insistentemente pedía su gerente interina pasa simplemente por un año sin sobresaltos, en que las actividades programadas puedan desarrollarse con normalidad. Ya vendrán tiempos mejores.

Macario Pineda

Short biography:

Macario Pineda was born in Malolos, Bulacan on April 10, 1912 and passed away at the age of thirty-eight on August 2, 1950. He had a difficult childhood as his mother, Felisa de Guzman, died when he was young and his father, Nicanor Pineda, remarried and had seven daughters with his stepmother Marcelina Alcaraz. Despite owning land, Pineda didn't choose to become a farmer, and after finishing high school, he worked as a telephone lineman and later as a municipal clerk. He was an excellent writer and basketball player during his high school years. At the age of twenty, he got married and settled in Barrio San Juan, Bigaa, Bulacan. He and his wife had seven children. Pineda's early life experiences, including the loss of his mother, influenced his views on women and mothers, which is evident in his writing.

Contribution:

Macario Pineda was a writer who wrote extensively in Tagalog from 1943 until his death in 1950. He was known for his numerous novels and short stories, including Halina sa Ating Bukas (1945), Ang Ginto sa Makiling (1947), Magat (1948), and Isang Milyong Piso (1950).

Carlos P. Romulo

Short biography:

Carlos P. Romulo, in full Carlos Peña Romulo, (born January 14, 1899, Camiling, Philippines—died December 15, 1985, Manila), was a Philippine general, diplomat, and journalist who served as an aide-de-camp to U.S. Gen. Douglas MacArthur during World War II. He became known as the "Voice of Freedom" for his broadcasts after Japan attacked the Philippines. Romulo won the Pulitzer Prize for Peace in 1941 and later served as president of the General Assembly of the UN and as the Philippines' ambassador to the United States. He also served as president of the University of the Philippines, secretary of education, and secretary of foreign affairs. However, in his later years, Romulo's views became less democratic, and he supported Marcos's imposition of martial law. His autobiography, I Walked with Heroes, was published in 1961.

Carlos P. Romulo was a prolific writer who authored and published 18 books, covering a range of literary genres. Some of his notable works include a novel called "The United," an autobiography titled "I Walked with Heroes," and memoirs about the war such as "I Saw the Fall of the Philippines" and "Mother America." He also wrote about the Philippines' rise in his book "I See the Philippines Rise."
