Look up into a kaleidoscope of autumn hues where cottonwood trees stretch into the sky. Their leaves form a warm, golden canopy against the cool whisper of an overcast day.

It's my birthday tomorrow, and so far, I've received a set of cutting boards and a new silverware separation thing to go in my silverware drawer, which are things I asked for (along with some other household stuff I need that my brothers will probably get for me), but I'm feeling a distinct lack of whimsy that I'm going to have to make up for with whatever celebration happens tomorrow, except I'm sick right now and don't have the energy to do any of the things I was considering

One of my favorite words that has a whole depth of meaning is komorebi. It's Japanese for sunlight shining through trees.
I cannot express how much I adore dappled shadows formed by sunlight in paintings and photography and in real life

We need to talk about urban trees, and we keep refusing to address the topic.
I got a text from my father this morning. Another large branch fell from his aging elm tree into his back yard. This lovely tree is about as old as the house, about 60 years, and it's at a stage of development where the broad, arcing branches are difficult for the aging trunk to support. Funguses and woodpeckers and the beetles the woodpeckers are drilling for have made their infiltration into the flesh of the tree.
Tumblr media
The branch fell on a sunny Friday morning. There wasn't a storm or a wind event. Just PLOOP! The branch fell. The ends of the branch are heavy with lush greenery filling out the canopy shading the backyard of my parents' home.
It's probably time to bring down the whole thing.
And that should be the natural order of urban trees.
But too often it is not.
Just leaving this note as a reminder for further research and inquiry. No one follows this blog anyway 😁

I love these streets
I have always loved tree covered streets for as long as I can remember. There is just something so warm and inviting to streets like this. There is a draw to these streets that will make me want to walk down the street even if I’m not going in that direction. The tree canopy is beautiful and I will always enjoy the ecstatic. Thanks for stopping by, Rob

Kenya, the cradle of mankind and the heart of African safari adventures, is a destination that stirs the soul. From the rolling savannahs of the Maasai Mara to the rugged beauty of Mount Kenya, our Kenya Safari Tours offer an unforgettable journey into the wild.
Tumblr media
Explore the Majestic Maasai Mara
It is understandable why Kenya's national parks consider the Maasai Mara to be their crown jewel. This vast reserve, with its golden plains and abundant wildlife, is where nature puts on a show like no other. Picture yourself in an open-top vehicle, camera ready, as a pride of lions lounges under an acacia tree, or as a herd of elephants marches across the horizon. The Great Migration, a spectacle that attracts visitors from all over the world, is a highlight you won't want to miss. Thousands of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles embark on a perilous journey across the Mara River, where crocodiles lie in wait. It's nature at its rawest, and with African Traveller Ltd., you'll have a front-row seat.
Experience the Rich Culture of Kenya
Beyond the wildlife, Kenya's rich cultural tapestry adds depth to your safari experience. The Maasai people are as well-known as the animals that roam their lands because of their vivid red shukas and exquisite beadwork.  On our tours, you'll have the chance to visit a Maasai village, where you can learn about their traditions, hear their stories, and even join in a traditional dance. Reminding you of the close bond between the people and the land, it's a humble experience.

Luxury Meets Adventure

How to create an atmosphere: Forest
Sight
tall trees with thick canopies of leaves
alternating light coming in through the moving leafs of the trees
ground covered with a mix of grass, ferns, and fallen leaves
wildflowers adding splashes of colour
animals like deer, boars, squirrels, birds
insects like butterflies and bees add movement and life to the scene
Hearing
the air is filled with the melodious songs of birds
gentle rustling of leaves as the wind moves through the trees
constant hum and buzz of insects
the soft crunch of leaves, twigs, and soil while walking through the forest
Touch
the spongy feel and the soft coolness of moss
the rough texture of tree bark
the cooler temperature in the forest
with a gentle breeze that can be felt on your skin
Smell
the smell of fresh grass
the rich, earthy smell of soil and decaying leaves
the scent of fresh leaves, pine needles, and blooming flowers
the smell of the clean, slightly damp scent of water and wet earth from a nearby stream or pond
Taste
the clean taste of fresh air
the taste of sweet and tangy wildberries
the taste of self-picked mushrooms
the taste of edible wildflowers
the taste of a variety of nuts
the taste of wild greens
