Public service announcement: cute actor alert! I had the TV on that weird Talking Pictures station (the one that specializes in long-forgotten, unloved mid-century films) for background noise while I was preparing dinner (a hausfrau’s work is never done!). A completely turgid and interminable British melodrama entitled The Passionate Stranger (1957) had just begun and I’d occasionally glance up at it. Leading lady Margaret Leighton suffers deep emotional torment in the primmest way possible, and everyone talks in that instantly campy ultra-posh received pronunciation that was de rigueur at the time. Except for THIS swarthy olive-skinned, dark-eyed Mediterranean charmer - Italian heartthrob Carlo Giustini, who plays Leighton’s chauffeur! He is magnifico! Mio Dio! Let's just say I became an instant Carlo Giustini fan!
