Curious because i was unaware of the existance of a CCCC fandom, any entry level info and suggestions :::?

Hi Cass! I could give you some entry level info sure! :)

CCCC is an acronym for Chonny's Charming Chaos Compendium, which is an album by Chonny Jash (yes you're reading that right).

The album is made up of rewritten and recontextualized versions of songs by a currently "on hiatus" band called Tally Hall, along with the band members' own side projects/personal projects, such as Joe Hawley's group Miracle Musical.

I'll try not to give away too much, but the story is about a person referred to as The Whole, who metaphorically splits into 3 different individuals, the purple and blind Heart, the blue and logical Mind, and the red and powerful Soul. Soul, Heart, and Mind (ESPECIALLY Heart and Mind) have got to figure out how to make things work between each other so that Whole can remain...well, Whole!

I do suggest giving the album a listen (if you wanna watch the music videos that go with songs, use this playlist!), and if you want/need to, use excellent artist @/cinnamonsly's annotations of the album! It's an excellent and easy to understand analysis of the album!! :)

There's also W3tBl@nk3t's awesome in-depth song-by-song analysis of the album! You can't really go wrong since they're both really great analyses!!

Oh, and speaking of artists like @/cinnamonsly, if you take a look at the "#cccc" tag on Tumblr, you'll find some awesome art of the characters! The characters technically don't have set in stone appearances so you can imagine em however you want!

There's a discord server for fans of Chonny's music and it's full of lovely people! Would highly recommend joining it! (if you descend far enough down the rabbit hole-)

How has oral storytelling changed? I assume that the Coalition isn't objective in their retellings, but how do they tend to lean the stories?

now. Cassia has a scene in Gathering Clouds where he discusses this exact thing with Oak so i’ll keep it vague for now.

however, it’s generally slated towards how the coalitions values are at the time. For instance, the only traceable bloodline from the Coalition’s founders is Stork’s. Which is Crane.

So Stork is a central figure in a lot of their stories, where he’s often portrayed very positively. anyway, i do go into this in more detail in gathering clouds but that’s the gist of it :3

thank you Shania! This is set in act 2, after the end of the Janus questline. I personally consider Cassia to be autistic and I very much wrote Leto as being on the spectrum as well. 1,085 words.

The invitation from Janus came, to commemorate the late Rogue Trader with a tree planting in the pleasure gardens in the sprawling governor’s estate. Despite them being pressed for time, Abelard warned, Theodora von Valancius’ successor insisted on coming. Following the planting of the tree would be the first new set of crops for the harvest, now that the planet’s troubles have eased.  

“I’m voidborn and my family is from a fortress world,” Leto reminds him. “I’ve spent the majority of my life aboard the Navis Imperalis vessels. Agri-worlds are as alien to me as the xenos. It would be nice to understand how the dynasty’s most important agri-world works, wouldn’t it?” 

“Of course, Rogue Trader.” 

That was before Leto came to understand just how much he would come to despise the weather on the agri-world. Under the tropic heat of Janus’ suns, he shifts uncomfortably, but tries to keep his composure. The dress Navy blues, complete with white gloves and his heavy wig are not suited for the temperamental weather, and the sun shines too brightly for him. He glances over at the Lady Navigator, who is also wincing under the blazing brightness as she looks out, focusing on the waves lapping at the estate’s shoreline.  If it is bad for him, then it must be agonising for her. 

He leaves Abelard’s side and crosses the path to stand beside Lady Orsellio, clasping his hands behind his back.  She picks up on his presence before he has a chance to announce himself and she turns to him, giving him a slight curtsy. 

“Lord Captain. I apologise if I am rather short-tempered and unsociable this noon but there are too many colours swirling around and far too bright —“ she begins, nervously wringing her hands, talons getting caught in the rich purple fabric of her sleeves. 

“You needn’t apologise ,” he replies quietly, leaning in a little and adds in a conspiratorial whisper. “It is too bright for me too.”

Cassia excitedly turned away from the screen to look at her big sister. "Oh, definitely Katniss," she replied without missing a beat, a big smile on her face. "Don't you think it was just amazing, what she did for her sister?"

"And people in District 12 never volunteer," she continued, settling back into the couch, "it's very exciting to see a volunteer from this District. I wonder if she is actually good at fighting, though. I guess we'll see her training score..."

Happy STS! How different are your characters now vs when you first created them? Is there anything you miss about their previous traits/personality? (Also ignore this if I already sent it to you, I have a bad memory sometimes haha)

Happy STS! And you didn't sent me this already, no worries! :D I relate to having a bad memory, I also sometimes forget to whom I've sent questions already xD

The cast of BCC has changed a lot during the almost 10 years. The whole story has changed massively too and there's very little left of the initial version of it (it wasn't even fantasy). I don't even remember much of the historical fiction version of the story or the characters there, but some of the characters that I created for the next version, the first fantasy version of the story, are still around.

Faerathos was then the only main character, but he was named Victor then. He was kinda a mix of Faerathos and Valeri now, but more Faerathos. The Faerathos back then was a soldier type (which is one of the qualities Valeri got as I created him), and much more severe type of person. Now he's still kinda angsty (actually he's more depressed and generally mentally damaged than his original version), but he's more chill, takes himself less seriously and now he's more the intellectual type than the fighter type. He also turned from repressed straight to still somewhat repressed but also slutty bisexual.

Cassia is in some ways newest addition to the main cast and has changed the least I'd say. (In the version where the MC was Victor, he had two little siblings, which were very different from what Valeri and Fiolev are now, but they did kinda develop from those characters.) She started as a very traditional femme fatale character. I'd say she still fit to the femme fatale trope in many ways, but now she's more of a futch and much more feral and angry.

I have much less to say about Valeri's and Fiolev's original version mostly because they weren't main characters and I really don't remember than much about them. But one character that has been there since the version with Victor, who has barely changed at all is Marcus. Marcus even has the same name and the same design. Even a big part of his background is the same. I have developed him further and he's much more fleshed out. But like if the only thing that is different from his original version and not like added there is that his bi and not straight.

I don't think I really miss anything about their previous versions. Like if I liked them better in their previous versions I guessed I'd just change them back.

Can you give me a metaphor to describe each of your blorbos?

A fun fact about me is I had to ask for clarification in regards to the term ‘blorbo’. If I’m understanding correctly, a blorbo is any character— be them from an established fandom or your own work— one daydreams about, fixates on, or otherwise turns their mind to for the purposes of escapism and entertainment.

While contemplating this new-to-me word, I encountered a post lamenting the dominance of male-aligned blorbos in fandom spaces. Apparently, it’s more common to see people openly obsess over such characters. I figured I’d do my part to further the female-aligned blorbo agenda by sharing with you the twelve “princesses” from my urban fantasy fairytale retelling.

Without further ado, here are the metaphors I thought up to describe the twelve “princesses” of the story.

Elowyn is that first crisp, dark breath of autumn breaking through the bright summer haze

Juniper is a crowded bar colored by cigarette smoke, strong liquor, and the glow of crooked neon signs

Holly is the warmth of fresh baked bread lovingly shaped by steady hands

Linden is the ruthless precision of a disciplined artist after decades spent honing their craft

Laurel is a steaming mug of curative tea sipped on a stormy night spent curled up in bed

Rowan is a bold, burning flame of determination in the quiet gloom of despair

Acacia is a sturdy, stolid mountain among flimsy, frantic reeds

Cassia is glossier than the pages of a fashion magazine— the wide, white-toothed grin and flutter of thick, black eyelashes she offers the crush of paparazzi just as artificial

Myrtle is every bit the coiled serpent— poised, beautiful, and unmistakably deadly

Olivia is owlish in her large, round reading glasses, her thin frame perched upon the window seat, an open book clutched in her hands

Willow is that first vivid swirl of paint on a stark, blank canvas

Hazel is a cheery shaft of golden sunshine shattering the dull morning’s fog

At first, I had the idea to compare each of the sisters to their sacred animal. In Faerie, each being has one, the identity of which depends on birth details and some religion-based world-building derails. After writing a few of the above metaphors, however, I changed my mind. The sisters’ sacred animals will remain a mystery for now. One or two did slip through, though…

he  felt  like  they  were  in  high  school  again,  how  they  would  spend  long  nights  avoiding  homework,  and  the  pressures  of  their  lives  and  their  grief  with  pizza,  alcohol,  and  music.  he  could  still  taste  the  honeyed  whiskey  on  his  tongue,  could  still  feel  the  heat  within  his  chest  as  cassia  used  her  television  remote  as  an  imaginary  microphone  and  sang  cascada’s  everytime  we  touch.

          cosmo  laughed,  the  smile  on  his  lips  wide  and  unashamed,  hyping  cassia  up  as  she  moved  across  the  living  room  as  if  it  were  her  stage  and  cosmo  her  adoring  audience.  he  pulled  out  his  phone,  hitting  record  from  where  he  was  slouched  over  on  the  couch,  following  cassia’s  performance  and  cheering  when  he  felt  it  was  appropriate.  only  when  she  rushed  over  to  him,  taking  his  hand  into  her  own,  and  pulled  him  to  his  feet  did  he  join  her  in  the  chorus.

          the  notes  were  well  beyond  his  range,  but  that  didn’t  stop  him.

TGIF (trans gender it's friday)! do you have any trans/nonbinary/gender-nonconforming characters? what are their role(s) in the story?

Hell yeah!

Raymond’s trans, he transitioned socially fairly young (young enough that Terran never knew him as anything but Raymond), and I've so far shown it in him mentioning his ears being pierced and taking their-world equivalent of HRT. I have a page in my notebook from when I was first thinking of if him being trans made sense and it did! Raymond is... god what's his role, it's so much... catalyst, source of moral conflict, love interest, best freind, source of greif, champion of good.

Syndicate doesn't have any enbies so far-- well, Jodi's rommate is nonbinary but they aren't even a character. However, I have a lot of enbies in Second Chance-- I seem to love she/theys and he/theys in there.

First if all, gods in general are genderless, but Ardisci, god of knowledge who's begun to feel more human than god found themselves to be leaning towards nonbinary-girl. Nit positive what Ardi's role in this version would be yet, but they get used by an MC at one point but provide valuable information and insights at others. Ava, the MC's crush, I'm thinking will discover themselves to be a demigirl/similar too, Ava is not just a love interest but provides Chrys safety and stability. Korin I spontaneously decided was he/they, he's a researcher for the sort-antagonsits and reflects a lot of Russell’s characteristics, and help at a key point in Russell’s arc. And a freind of Russell, Halyn, goes by ze/zem, Halyn provides Russell safety when he has no one else but also pushes him.

In Immortal Souls, Logan is bigender (they/them), and a family freind of Maera, Cassia, is a trans woman. Logan is a main character, one of 3 people the story follows, and Cassia gave a younger Logan the courage to be gnc.

A few other random stories also have some trans/nb characters... some I'm not as sure about though.

I'm not a great person to send an ask because I still have all of the stuff from the games hidden, so maybe you've already talked about this, but what were Leto's first impressions of Eurac V and Cassia?

I've actually held off from talking about a lot of Rogue Trader because I know not many people have finished it yet (I finished my first run on NYE), so I haven't actually talked about even this at length, other than using a moment from it as a writing exercise.

In short, Leto's first impressions were...mixed.

He's from a Navy dynasty, so he understands the necessity of a Navigator, and he has always been taught that in dealing with Navigators, there should be a healthy amount of respect and distance involved. But the moment he stepped foot on Eurac V, he got such a pervasive, unsettling feeling in his stomach that something was wrong, that he should watch his step - and the entity in his brain (he's a Grim Portents Rogue Trader) is revelling in whatever is happening there.

He doesn't trust Felek, but because of how he was taught to treat Navigators, he was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. As he was making his way through the station, finding scraps of documents about the terrible things that 'the Child' could do, that unease didn't stop, and when he learned what Felek was up to - he didn't hesitate to punish the Navigator for it, especially when he stopped denying it.

Leto feared Cassia upon first meeting, as a result the entity trying to push him into her gaze so he'd be annihilated by it; but he managed to throw the illusion off, and calm her. Imagine his horror when he realised that the greatly feared 'Child' was actually just a Navigator not much younger than himself who struggled to control her powers and was clearly isolated and frightened - that was... not what he was expecting.

He's very focused on making sure in act 1 that she adjusts comfortably to life aboard the voidship by granting her requests (though he draws the line at her suggesting that he had the vocal cords of those aboard the decks removed) and pushing down his own fears and whispers from the entity around her that he doesn't make her feel even more alienated.

Frustration troubled Cassia's features. She was almost pouting. "I don't want to be babied," she quipped through gritted teeth, "I just don't- I don't know how to use this."

Embarrassment spread like fire on her cheeks as she gestured towards the stove. She had tried turning it on earlier, but nothing. Cassia was hungry. It was a new feeling, a feeling she hated. The term "hunger games" finally made sense to her. In the arena, hunger had driven some of her friends to terrible, horrifying lengths. Ironic, that the new government had renamed them freedom games.

"I don't have anyone else to ask, all my friends died in the Games, remember?" she snapped at the woman, fighting the urge to kick the goddamn stove. Nothing was said about the fact that she had killed some of these friends.

Cassia didn't want Virgilia's help, but she needed it. No one in her family knew about this stuff, and she wasn't talking to Cornelia anyway. Oh, it was humiliating. But at least, she didn't have to play the part of the sweet, repentant girl around Virgilia. She could be as angry as she wanted, which she supposed was... almost comforting.

genevieve davenport; i have to pick gen because she didn't have anything growing up, yet she built a little empire of thieves all on her own. she has definitely killed a man before and will again. nobody knows her real name or what her weaknesses are (if she even has any).
