I have the option to do sedated grooming at my current place— but with the sedation the animal is lying down with me propping up their face. Eyes are open. Do we think this is weird/creepy/unsettling to post and I should maybe keep it to myself? What do we say chat?
Okay, while it is my day off today, I'm about to do something that may or may not be a challenge. I'm about to take my youngest cat, Tala, to my place of work... to shave her.
I spent years shaving down cats in my previous job, but because I worked for a vet, 99% of those cats were sedated. I could count on one hand the number that I did while awake, and one of them was my own tuxedo Tasha. After I left the Clinic, they still let me bring in my beloved (but aggressive) Rodney in so they could sedate him and I could shave him there.
Tala has long, fluffy hair, and she has an unfortunate bad habit of rolling around in the little box. She has developed a horrible matt on her back. I determined a yearly shave would be a good thing for her, and since she let me shave her bottom a few month back after she had a bout of the runs, I have hopes she will be good for a full-body shave.
I decided to spend about 20 minutes brushing Tank. How is she not naked? I got so much fur off of her and she still was shedding a little when I decided to stop. I love her so much but she sheds more than my two long-haired boys.
Just a bunch of viking. It's not often they both hang out on my lap like this. Lmk if you want to see the continuation, I got like 4 more mins of this.
Sorry for all the background noise. Not much relevance to it if you keep it off.
When cats groom themselves, the barbs on their tongue pick up loose hair. The swallowed fur can sometimes clump together in their stomach. This makes the cat vomit it out, preventing a blockage from forming in their intestines.
Hairball remedies or certain types of cat grass can help with this!
