Ok ok since these two cuties won’t leave me alone with their friendship 🤭 fic preview under the cut👩🏾🍳🧑🏼🍳
“Chef de Cuisine, Sydney Adamu of The Bear, has been nominated for the James Beard Award for Best New Chef, Casual Fine Dining, Midwest. As well as Executive Chef, Carmen Berzatto. Okay, it doesn’t read like that exactly, but you fucking get it.” Richie reads over the expo so the whole crew is in on what just happened.
Sydney just stands in place and Carmy wraps his arm across her shoulder for stability. Afraid she may crack into pieces or drop in shock. “You deserve it Chef,” Carmy beamed next to her.
“I couldn’t have done it without-“
“No no we are not starting that shit again. We are proud of you Syd!” He lets go so the others can give their congratulations properly.
She lifts her hands up to hide her face.
“We are mami! Bravo!” Tina reaches up for another hug and Syd tries her best not to breakdown again in her sous chef’s arms this time, but hugging Tina almost feels like hugging her mother and if she thinks to hard about it she might lose it again.
“I gotta hand it to you kid. I always knew you had it in you to get this shithole together.” Richie punches her shoulder lightly before she rolls her eyes back at him and accepts his pat on the back.
“Shit Syd, I always knew you had it in you!” Marcus daps her up then shakes her shoulder encouragingly. She can’t but share a big smile with him.
“You next Marcus! For real.” She looks up at him with assurance.
“Man that’s you and Carm all pressed for the awards and shit. As long as y’all keep letting me make whatever I want. And Carmy stops being a little bitch. We good.”
“I wish y’all would let that shit go already.” Carmy shakes his head.
“So when’s the big day?” Marcus asks them both.
“In a month.” Sydney responds rubbing her hands on her apron, ready to get back to her prep. She was not built to receive this much praise at once. Like yeah, she wanted a star and she wanted the awards, but that almost meant that she would have to be perceived more and praised more and the only person’s attention she craved she finally has… for the most part.
“We gotta get you right Syd! But we got plenty of time. Can not represent the bear in your baggy sweaters and overalls.” Marcus ribs her in a playful way.
“Dude shut up! Let’s get back to work Chefs!” Sydney calls out to the kitchen so they can get the dinner prep done before their booked night.
Yes Chef!
Carmy taps his spoon against the back of his hand as his mind starts flooding with ideas, but instead of meat, sauce, and herbs, it’s fabrics, patterns, and stitch variations. It’s long limbs but tailored to perfection around soft curves. It’s bright colors that compliment deep brown skintones.
“Carm, hey.” Sydney snaps at his face quickly. “Where’d you go? Can you pass me the strainer?”
“Yeah, sorry chef. Um just thinking.”

I gotta get back into my new Age of Calamity file (been knitting and playing our second Tears file all the time), 'cause I am still soooo far away from unlocking Kohga and I need to get himmmm again. I mean I could just go in my old file and have him kill some vicious lynels to get my fix or something but. No I want to rebuild My Best Guy and see if I can possibly make him even more Best.
But. I mean.
That would be pretty hard.
(I accept the challenge but I gotta be patient and get through the 'let's destroy the Yiga Clan woohoo!' parts first astfglaslkfjsldfkj. I mean not that I hate those missions, I love fighting Sooga and Kohga as I have said before, and I adore the cutscenes involving them. But I wanna play as them even more, they're just so fun. Also I got sosososo lucky with Kohga's weapon drops last time so hopefully I will again this time too so I can make him an even better Demon Carver. If that's even. Possible. I will do my best! Glory to Master Kohga etcetc!)

This week my sisters, my brother and his girlfriend, and I helped my dad get rid of some unneeded furniture. This meant carrying bookcases to my sister's Honda and a small couch and cabinet to my Ford.
The items I took are now on Craigslist for a nominal amount. I don't like dealing with people who shop CL's Free category. "Hey man, I live in Iowa and am thinking of coming to Minneapolis sometime in December. That love seat you listed is pretty sweet. Will you hang onto to it for me until I find a buddy with a truck who wants to drive 250 miles one-way for a free couch?"
Asking $10 avoids those responses. It also makes other people think they're getting a super deal. When someone willing to pay a few bucks does show up, if they seem nice I will even tell them to put away the wallet, though I might charge a "convenience fee" for helping load the couch into their vehicle.
Moving furniture is one of my least favorite activities. It's right down there with paying convenience fees or waiting for noobs in line at an ATM. What's our PIN, Delores? Didn't you write it down? Is it our dog's birthday? No? Gimme a sec, I'll remember. Should I get the $20 out of checking or savings?
However, my dad took us out for pizza afterwards. Eating free pizza is one of my most favorite activities. It's right up there with pressing the start button on a full dishwasher or sleeping in freshly laundered sheets under a heavy blanket. My desires are simple and easily attainable.
My other sister has one of the filthiest vehicles I've ever seen. She lives at the end of a dirt road. You can recognize her Chevy on a highway as it leaves a cloud of dust when she comes to town to shop at Target or get free pizza.
Sadly, my truck's interior is no better. It has so much dog hair that when that sister went to to put pillows and couch cushions in the back seat I advised her to keep wearing the mask that's required at my dad's apartment building's public areas. In fact, there is so much dog hair someone might think I'm fibbing about that couch coming from a pet-free home.

Can't even mention that a store near me is clearly using abusing the TFW program because they refuse to pay little more than minimum wage in a high cost of living area (also you won't get benefits and you'll only be part-time) because the fascists and right-wingers will jump in to say it's about immigration and white replacement.
No, it's because rich white people want to hoard even more money and found an intentional loophole to both make more money (via paying employees less) and also have more power over employees, employees who may or may not know Canadian employment laws (or safety laws) and even if they do, don't have the ability or support to try to hold the company accountable.
You can absolutely criticize the federal government for keeping the loophole open but it predates Trudeau by decades and it was Harper who both expanded the program and added a way for companies to fast-track TFWs. It was also under Harper that companies started firing Canadians (or not hiring them) and then requesting permission to mass-hire TFWs instead.
But the way the right wing talks, you would think Trudeau started this whole thing and the poor multi-million and multi-billion dollar companies are being taken advantage of. Also that housing prices, lack of new developments, and zoning issues started with Trudeau and are the fault of mass-immigration he has a boner for instead of being an issue for decades and experts warning this would happen if governments didn't act ASAP.
Instead the neolibs and cons kept cutting back and kicking that can down the road, a can that started being kicked by Mulroney and the Conservative Party.

A mutual acquaintance is wondering how one would go about commissioning you...
Sorry it took so long to get back to you anon! My brain has been alternating between being goo and keeping extremely busy.
I mostly prefer being contacted via email (
[email protected]) if you have a clear idea of what you want n lots of references or don't mind a slower response time, and i SHOULD have dms open if you have a vaguer idea but want easier/quicker back-and-forthing during the process.
I used to take commissions through my ko-fi, but there was a monthly fee to be able to do so at the time so I've stopped taking them through ko-fi directly and mostly work through paypal invoices. I also don't like taking payment upfront, so I allow them to be paid off little by little!
