A Genshin Player typically has a variety of characters to choose from. Such options can range from free-to-play characters to limited five stars. Regardless of how much one invested in the game, they're bound to have at least a handful of options.

This is what all characters are aware of— that they are options among hundreds to thousands of vision holders across Teyvat, with every character being special and enticing in their own way.

There's no way they could be the favorite.

Right?

[x] WANDERER

He doesn't quite know who he is.

He doesn't understand what his purpose is either.

He just wanders, lost, nation to nation in hopes of maybe discovering a sense of fulfillment.

And with all the wandering he's done, he -of course- has heard about you. A special entity to this world. A small part of him wonders if you'd know the answers to his questions (or perhaps, you could make use of him? If he could be useful to someone like you, then surely he would feel fulfilled?).

Despite his quiet hopes, he wasn't in any rush to find you. Nor did he hope for you to actually make use of him. He just continued wandering, from the mountains of Liyue to the forests of Sumeru— all the way to where he is now. The barren desert, with nothing but sand for miles and miles to see (and perhaps that rather intimidating, flipped pyramid at a distance).

Needless to say, he wasn't expecting you of all people to follow his tracks out into the desert.

At first you were just a spech amongst the sands, then you became clearer with your approach, showing more and more the familiar features he once saw in passing amongst statues or paintings.

When you were finally within hearing distance, you raised a hand as if to call out his name, hesitating for a moment before deciding what to say—

"Wanderer!"

He tilts his head, pausing to face you as you walk closer. The sand around you stills, as if no longer fighting against every footstep you take, and instead assisting you to come closer.

"You are. . . the one this world was created for, right?" He asks unsure as soon as you were close enough

"I suppose I am?" You reply with a laugh, and he finds that he quite likes your laugh. "I tried looking for you, I'm glad I caught up before you got too deep into the desert."

"You tried looking for me. . ? Why?"

"Because how could I visit Teyvat without meeting you?" You smile softly. He looks away, it doesn't make sense.

"Meeting me, huh. . . then may I ask for a favor?"

"Anything you want."

His eyes catches yours -sunlight hitting them just right- and without missing a beat, "Can I be of use to you? Can you give me purpose?"

You freeze, hands to your side as you stare back at him. In truth, you were expecting something like this, but now? So soon on your first meeting? He looks back seriously.

"Sca– Wanderer," You begin, "You're doing this. . . to find out who you are, right?"

He nods. You sigh.

"Well. . . I know a friend back in the city who can help you. They're a traveler as well. In fact, you can say they're a friend of yours!"

"A friend of mine. . ?"

"Trust me. You'll love them. And shall we go back?"

Go back? He wonders. There's miles and miles of sand around you.

"It would be nightfall soon. I don't think we'd be able to make it back today. I'm sorry."

You turn to him, lips in a wide smile. There's something wrapped between your fingers as you hold it out for him to catch. He opens his palm, it settles down slowly— it's. . . an anemo vision. Glowing brightly.

"Why walk when we can fly?" You grin.

"Don't you feel hot at all?" You whine, shielding your eyes from the glare of sunlight.

"I have a hat."

"I see. . . "

[x] SCARAMOUCHE

* It's conflicting, really. Scaramouche despises gods— their invisible influence taunting him like he was a defective product, like he should be ashamed to ever think he could stand on their level.

* You were... an oddity in his feelings towards such powerful beings. The world was made for you, catered to you, and people naturally adored you (just like how they adored the traveler you've shown your favor to).

* So when you, the being which his very world was created for your entertainment, landed in Teyvat, as human as any human could be— he didn't know what to expect.

* He didn't care. There are hundreds for you to meet, and he's not about to wait in line, dilly-dallying for your attention like a common peasant.

* But in the open halls of the Tsaritsa's palace, you approach with the quick pattering of your heels.

* The crowd of Fatui workers naturally part as soon as they noticed your approach. It's odd enough to hear that the player begged to go to Snezhnaya -land of nothing but barren snow- but to rush to Scaramouche's main headquarters? Unheard of!

* Yet there you were, face to face with a single option out of hundreds (the single option you chose).

"What in Teyvat are you. . ." He trails off, his face scrunched between irritation and shock. He doesn't know what to say, really. Would insulting you incur some sort of divine fury?

"I came looking for you!" You reply.

He thinks you're an idiot. He shouldn't call you that, right? Would it damn him to the abyss or something?

"Why. . ." He tries to form the words, "Why in Teyvat would you–" He pauses, looking around at the small crowd.

With a glare, the Fatui agents scatter away from the hall. It doesn't take much to scare them away like little rats. As he turns back to you, you look back unafraid, if not a little excited.

"Why are you here? Do you pity me, is that it?" He asks with a bite to his voice.

"Yes."

"I– what? So you admit it?" He scoffs, is there a limit to your shamelessness? Is this a trait natural to the gods? "Unbelievable."

"I pity you, everything you went through, but that's not the reason why I'm here! Isn't it obvious?" You say, a wide grin beginning to form, "You're my absolute favorite!"

He freezes. What? Absolutely. . . favorite?

As if understanding his speechlessness, you continue on, "I've been wanting to meet you since the very first event– ahem, first time I saw you!"

"You truly are an odd one." He mumbles under his breath because why him? Why the one who was abandoned and used numerous times? He's merely a puppet without a heart.

An empty vessel.

"And why should I believe you?" He says unconvincingly, arms folded. He notices the little chatter behind the walls, those darn recruits are listening in.

"Why would I be here if you're not my favorite?" You quip back.

He scoffs, "I don't know, but there's certainly something wrong with you in the head. You're not exactly what I expected."

"If you were expecting a certain level of power, then I could still do that. I can give you gifts."

". . . gifts?" He tilts his head.

"Artifacts, weapons, talents— they're all for you since the very beginning anyway!"

Artifacts, weapons. . . power? He thinks. Truly, if you were such an ultimate being, you could provide him anything? As if pondering over it, he suddenly pauses.

Yes, indeed you could give him these things.

But why him?

Because of favorites?

How could he be favored when he was once thrown away.

". . . Can you give me a gnosis?" He says, voice uncharacteristically soft.

"Um. . . we'll work on that. Maybe on the later arcs."

[x] CHONGYUN

* Despite modern Liyue's sovereignty from gods, it's still a nation that values traditions and piety. It's natural that with your arrival, you only deserve the best!

* That included invites from some of the highest ranking nobles and guilds. It's no surprise that Xingqiu, the second son of the largest Commerce Guild, makes an appearance to greet you in the Jade Palace, his brother and parents already done with their turns.

* Xingqiu expected a lot from you, maybe discussions of the arts (or perhaps you're even interested in novels?). What he didn't expect was for you to ask such a random question.

"Oh Xingqiu! You're here! Ah– but where's Chongyun?"

He only pauses for a second. Chongyun may be the son of a longstanding exorcist clan, but they're not much to boast about in terms of influence or wealth. Chongyun is... well, Chongyun. His dear best friend.

"I apologize, I wasn't aware that you'd like to meet him as well. Chongyun should be. . . hmm around the harbor by now, perhaps." He stands straight from his bow, "We were planning on meeting after this, your Holiness, to look for haunted h— I mean, to stroll Wuwang Hill."

You already know what they're up to as you clasp your hands together.

"Excellent! I'll go with you!"

"Wait- what?"

* Oh poor Chongyun, he would be a frantic mess in disbelief. It was hard enough to believe that you suddenly went to Liyue, but to approach him of all people? Did you mistake him for someone else? Are you going to ask for directions? Did he do something wrong?

* The thoughts swirling around his head is enough to destabilize his yang energy as you helplessly reassure him that you're there because you want to meet him as soon as you could.

"Chongyun!" You rush up to him, arms wide in an embrace— the cryo allogene freezes in place, stares with his cat-like eyes in wonder because wait, wait, wait– is the one and only controller of this world approaching him for a hug?

"I- Wait, me?" He stutters, tumbling over his words as you smile. His arms are awkwardly raised, unsure if he should hug you back.

"Yes! I met Xingqiu a while back and was wondering why you weren't with him."

"You- you were looking for me?"

"Of course I have! I've always wanted to meet you in person like this!"

As you squeeze him in your arms, you feel him go limp as his face turns red in heat.

"Oh no! His yang energy!"

[x] ABYSS AETHER

Aether knew he was damned. The minute he resolved to see through everything till the end, despite everyone thinking otherwise, he knew no one would understand why he decided to do this.

Alone, is how he decided to do this. So he sits lonely on a throne in the nave of what seems to be a dark cathedral. The walls depicting menacing murals of an era where everything went wrong. The abyss mages that normally float in worship are no where to be seen, just the way he wanted it.

Until you appeared, the little soft patter of footsteps echoing down his aisle, the heavy doors moving back to reveal your underwhelming entrance. He sees you and he wonders if he expected you to come, to blame him or get angry because how could he stray so far from his oh-so-favored sister, Lumine.

Yet, you walk up to him with a look of what seems to be sorrow.

"Are you here to blame me?" He asks and his voice echoes against cavernous walls.

"Blame you? No. . ." You reply.

"Then do you pity me?"

"Aether, I just want to understand." You confidently say, finally by the foot of his throne. He doesn't feel comfortable looking down on you like this, not you, so he stands to approach your eye level.

"Shouldn't you already understand?" He questions, curious.

"I— don't. . . I don't know everything there is to this world."

Aether frowns. Maybe because he was hoping that you of all people -mortal or god- would understand why he's doing this.

"That isn't my problem. There are bigger things for me to think about." He turns away and just before he could take the first step;

"I don't know everything about this world but if it's you– then I want to understand. I'm sure you have your reasons. I trust you more than anything."

He pauses, face in wonder, because how could you trust someone so blindly?

With an exhale and a decision made, he turns to you, "Then follow me. If you want to understand why, then stay with me."

"Okay."

[x] RAZOR

It was a classic welcome— arriving in Mondstadt, touring around the city, greeting the characters you've always wanted to meet. Despite their initial formalities and decorum, you've managed to tone down the professionalism and started to treat each other as friends.

That didn't mean they weren't very open to the idea of you meeting the less. . . civil of the bunch.

"I'd like to visit Wolvendom." You tell the small group. It's another day in the city, enjoying drinks by the taverns under the sun. Lucky for you, the Cavalry Captain and the Outrider have their time off to enjoy with you.

"Oh? Is there a reason why?" Kaeya leans back, head tilted.

"To be honest. . . I wanted to visit Razor. I'm sure you know him!"

Truth be told, you just wanted to meet a certain good wolf cub hidden in the woods. While everyone has went out of their way to meet you, Razor kept to himself in Wolvendom. Perhaps he was too intimidated by the crowds pouring into Mondstadt, or maybe he just wasn't familiar about you, but Razor was nowhere to be seen since your arrival.

". . . Razor?" Kaeya says hesitantly, "Hmm while I have no problem with you going to Wolvendom to meet him, there is another issue. . ."

"What issue?"

"The knights decided not to let you meet Razor," Amber quips in, "I mean– It's not that there's anything bad about him, it's just that he hasn't learned his manners yet. We thought it might be disrespectful if he met you so soon."

"Disrespectful?" You voice out in shock.

"Of course we know that you're not strict about that now! But I guess we never clarified the situation with Razor. . "

You huff, standing up tall with new resolve, "That's it! We're going out to find Razor and give him the biggest hug ever!"

"We are?" They echo back in unison.

"Yes we are!" You hook both your arms around theirs, dragging them out the gates of Mondstadt.

why lyney x aether just makes sense

no traveller ship has ever rlly worked to me (other than ayaka bc it was very heavily hinted in canon) UNTIL TODAY. HERE IS MY FORMAL DISSERTATION ON WHY LYNETHER WORKS

neither of them have pairs - genshin purposefully does this thing where they pair up characters (eg: chongyun & xingqiu, jean & lisa) which is why there are so many popular ships in the fandom. i think lyney's effective pair is meant to be lynette & aether doesnt have one bc hes meant to be a player-insert but that leaves SO MUCH ROOM bc when you think about it the closest thing lyney has to a love interest IS AETHER

siblings - both of them are elder brothers and both are TWINS . they also both have a youngest sibling figure (freminet and paimon; dont tell me paimon isnt a younger sister figure bc if u open a modern au ALMOST ALWAYS she is presented as "aether and lumines younger sister") their backstories are similar (losing their other half) so they canonically understand each other (There's nothing in the world I treasure more than my family, so I know what it must be like for you -Lyney, Friendship LV4) THIS LEADS INTO MY OTHER POINT

the "i see past your mask" trope - this is a very popular trope (and one that ngl kills me everytime i read it bc it preys on the human desire to be fully understood) BUT it was made for lyney . if youve watched ouran highschool host club HIKARU AND KAORUS "we are the only two who understand each other... until haruhi arrived" IS NOT DISSIMILAR TO WHAT COULD HAPPEN WITH LYNEY, LYNETTE AND AETHER . and lyney was BORN to fit this trope bc he already has the whole fake, charming, extrovert persona he puts on. ("Actually, the real me is nowhere near as outgoing or chatty as I appear. (...) I think people would feel sorry for the real me." -Lyney, friendship LV6)

narrative - a big thing about ships is they need to have a faucet for tension . like xingyun is extremely hinted in canon but its nowhere near as popular as kavetham and zhongchi. why? because theyre just childhood best friends. nothing interesting about it. zhongchi especially is hugely popular bc of the potential for reconciliation after the osial arc (zhongli's "im sorry for manipulating you. it wasnt all fake i swear" sorta thing) AND YK WHAT ELSE HAS THAT??? FURINA REVEALING LYNEY AS FATUI IN THE TRIAL "im sorry for lying about my identity. it wasnt all fake" the core that makes ships like satosugu and zhongchi tragic is the betrayal of trust, and, well... ("Nothing could make me happier than having your trust." -Lyney, Ascension 4)

binary opposition - why is satosugu so popular? probably because its the whole 'cruel murderer villain' vs 'strongest hero' trope and audienced like sun vs moon . okay . AETHER IS LITERALLY THE HONORARY KNIGHT OF MONDSTADT, HERO OF LIYUE, ENEMY OF ETERNITY, FIRST SAGE OF BUER and lyney is THE FUTURE SUCCESSOR TO THE HOUSE OF HEARTH . the villain of genshin impact (currently) is the fatui so you cant get better than this.

canon hints - even if ships would theoretically work well and have potential for tension, they need to be grounded in the source material. so does lynether have that?

hmmmm personally, i’m more of an x reader girly🤭 i also haven’t played genshin since sumeru ended so i dont know a lot of characters / their relationships😭

i’ve seen so many kaveh x althatham media that they’re canon at this point.

but i do enjoy xingqui x chongyun, i think that’s the only solid ship i like?? i wasn’t really into shipping when in genshin, but even looking at them in like ‘yep they’re gonna end up togtehr’. but ive always had a soft spot for the x traveler ships. big fan of childe and traveler tho 🤭 (not as a subsition for the player/ reader but as lumine or aether)

Genshin Characters as Sky COTL players Notes: Not an ‘x-reader’ for once? That’s new. X-readers will be back in a few business days and I will be writing for Twisted Wonderland and Tears of Themis. I have been playing a lot of Sky COTL lately after I found my veteran acc. Login so I thought why not make a headcanon post. So far we have few one shots and 3 series in the ‘currently’ writing. I should probably plan things and make notes so I won’t lose anymore ideas and drafts oof.  [Grand masterlist]

The Musicians - These players probably have a huge collection of instruments ranging from the local spirits to seasonal spirits. They might also probably own a musical instrument that is no longer available because of an ultimate gift. It’s not unusual to see them playing at places like above the pipes at the graveyard or at the second floor of the vault because the music key they needed are located there. They also probably strayed for days in the Harmony  hall when the season of performance got released.  ---Kazuha (this guy is prolly always straying either in Prairie or the forest), Xinyan, Venti

The explorers - These players know where the winged lights were located in each realm starting from the easiest to get to the hardest ones. Need help in locating spirits? They can go with you and lead you. These guys have probably come across one or two bugs while exploring and like oob exploring too and makes easy routes for others to use. Sometimes they travel alone and sometimes in groups, they might also pair up with oobers from time to time. If you have time to listen they have the compiled theorized lore for them to tell you too. ---Mika, Aloy, Lumine and Aether, Kazuha, Kirara, Tighnari, Zhongli, Beidou

The Loners / Solo Flyers  - Either they leave the game once one of their in-game friends go online or they immediately hop to another map when they hear the online notification. These players take their sweet time exploring alone and they might also go ninja mode from time to time just to avoid other players. Inventories either have several instant recharge spells or they carry an item that helps them charge. Given that they fly solo, they know just how to converse their flight power and know where every campfire and lamps are located. These players might also help you if you need help but after that they will just disappear and you might never see them again. Ps, they never get to finish those quests like holding a friend’s hand or following a friend. ---Diluc, Rosaria, Wanderer, Shenhe, Xiao 

The Ikemen/Ikejou -They get followed by moths. They get followed by chibis. They either get flirted on or they flirt. Pretty chill players from time to time and most of them are flexing their seasonal or cosmetics that are not obtainable anymore. If their followers are unavoidable, they’ll light up, bow and then maybe an emote or two, and then leave. Might be tiktokers.  ---Kaeya, Ayato, Lyney, Heizou, Childe, Yun Jin, Dehya

The uncoordinated players  -Hits wind barrier. Gets trapped inside the Prairie cloud tunnel. Gets trapped like clothing inside a washing machine in Wind Path cloud tunnels. Runs out of flight power mid-air. Randomly losses flight control and goes crazy mid-air. Gets kidnapped by mantas at Prairie villages. Gets hit by a krill. Gets hit by a crab. Gets hit by players randomly passing by. Land on dark water after losing flight power. Land under acid rain after losing flight power. Land on, wait, did you just land in the middle of the graveyard without flight power?  ---Benneth, Razor, Collei, and surprisingly, Chongyun (someone tell him that krills can’t be exorcised) 

The helpful ones - Normally holding the hand of a moth or two that they randomly adopted at the lobbies. Deep calls to recharge players that they come across or those we find on random places with high density of dark waters and enemies. Initiates plant burning and makes sure crabs won’t touch their adopted moths. They carry lighting props as well if deep calls are not enough or if there’s a lot of people in the group. They usually travel in groups and most of the time if they are not winged light running or collecting spirits, they are finishing quests from past seasons. It’s rare to see them alone and their friend list is so long.  ---Thoma, Amber, Jean, Candace, Aether, Lumine, Noelle 

The krill chasers - They are beauty. They are grace. They love the krill’s warning light on their face. If they are not saving other random players from krill attacks by making them the krill targets and then they are just randomly flying around messing around with krills. They have the map of the wasteland memorized at the back of their hand and they are the players to stay on the battlefield once the gates open. They also collect crabs from time to time but nothing tops the thrill of dodging krills. If the wasteland krills are unavailable or if there are innocent players around that might become collateral damage, they can always go play fetch with the krill at the forgotten ark.  ---Hu Tao, Childe

hello! This is part 1 of a new series (idk what else to call it) i'm doing where I summarize every character's kit. It seems like a lot of people on here are new or casual/story focused players who might not be interested in reading every character's abilities.

So if you aren't too into combat and want to see what every character does to decide who you want, this post is for you!

Today i'll be looking at Cryo characters. If you want to see my posts for other elements if they are out yet, i'll be adding links to all other elements in each new installment. I'll also make a post w links to all other elements once i'm done w all 7

note: i will not be talking in depth about how strong a character is unless it is very important. mainly because the best way to have fun (for most) is by playing characters you like and also bc tier lists are often controversial and pretty much all characters if built well are viable

Characters within its AoE will gain a Cryo damage buff (from her passive) ❥ Charged Attack: At charge level 2, her charged attack will become a frostflake arrow that deals a larger amount of Cryo damage. Once it hits an opponent, the arrow will bloom and deal additional Cryo damage ❥ Roles: DPS, Off-field Cryo application ❥ Damage scales off of: Attack

Eula (DPS)

❥ Skill: Deals Cryo damage and grants her a Grimheart stack that increases her DEF and resistance to interruption. Holding her skill consumes all stacks and decreases Cryo+Physical resistance of the enemy it hits. ❥ Burst: Deals Cryo damage and summons a sword that gains stacks with her normal attacks/skills/burst. The sword will explode after its duration and deal Physical damage based on the number of stacks it has ❥ Roles: Physical DPS ❥ Damage scales off of: Attack

Ayaka (DPS)

❥ Skill: Deals Cryo damage ❥ Burst: Summons a snowstorm that deals continuous Cryo damage during its duration and a larger hit of Cryo damage at the end ❥ Alternate Sprint: Turns her into frozen fog. She can move over water in this state. When she reappears, she will apply Cryo to any opponents hit and will gain a Cryo infusion on her normal/charged/plunging attacks ❥ Roles: Freeze DPS, Cryo DPS ❥ Damage scales off of: Attack

Shenhe (Support)

❥ Skill: Deals Cryo damage and grants your characters a flat damage bonus to their Cryo attacks. Tapping/Holding it will also grant your characters a Skill+Burst/Normal+Charged+Plunging Attack bonus ❥ Burst: Creates a field that deals periodic Cryo damage and decreases the Cryo+Physical resistance of enemies inside of it. Characters inside of it gain a Cryo damage bonus (from her passive) ❥ Roles: Cryo buffer, Physical support ❥ Damage scales off of: Attack ❥ Buff scales off of: Attack

Wriothesley (DPS)

❥ Skill: Enters a state that buffs his normal attacks and causes them to consume his HP when they hit opponents. Both of these effects only take place if he is above 50% HP. ❥ Burst: Deals multiple hits of Cryo damage ❥ Passive: When under 60% HP, Wriothesley's charged attack is enhanced. The enhanced charged attack deals increased damage and heals him ❥ Roles: Cryo DPS ❥ Damage scales off of: Attack

The Waterborne Poetry event has answered a question, and also sprung up a new question.... Actually, two questions, in my most humble opinion...

Anyway, before I move on, do note that there may be 🚨SPOILERS🚨 for those of you who have, for some reason, not done the event during this period... and also for those of you who may have missed it... best if you go watch the gameplay for this event to know what's going on first...

As we all know, the Waterborne Poetry was a follow-up from the Lantern Rite 2023 event where Venti and Hu Tao planned to have a poetry event together. So, here you go, the Waterborne Poetry was born.

But, the story doesn't actually only follow up from there, it also follow up from the Endora event back in... 2021, I think? Players who played the event were granted a little Endora Oceanid as their pet.

Just a quick recap, the little Oceanid Endora... actually, I forgot how the Traveler found her... but what I do remember was, like Callirhoe, Endora grew very weak while traveling, and had to latch herself onto some moveable water source... think if memory serves me right, it was a hydro slime.

In order to help little Endora, the Traveler travelled between Mondstadt and Liyue to capture some rogue Oceanid and letting Endora absorb them. By doing so, Endora would be able to regain her strength and her speech should improve a lot.

Part of the event was us finding out that another Oceanid was actually living in the waters of Springvale. At that time, players weren't really sure what to make of the Oceanid existing in Springvale since there was no appearance of this particular Oceanid. Eventually, I think many forgot about it.

Fast forward to the Waterborne event, it was only in this event that it jogged our memory that there was indeed an Oceanid living in Springvale. And that was none other than Callirhoe.

Apart from her main romance with Finch, she did make some friends while living in the waters of Springvale. One of them was our beloved feline, Diona.

Because she was touched by their friendship, Callirhoe gave Diona a special ability, that is, to make any drink into a delicious drink no matter what she puts inside.

So... that kinda answers our question about her mixing ability. It's not because she is Mondstadt's version of Xiangling, but because she was blessed by Callirhoe.

But now, that also gives rise to another question which was also addressed by the character himself.

Is Chongyun's pure yang energy a blessing from someone else as well?

I believe we will get a story that is Chongyun-focused to answer that question... if Hoyoverse remembers...

That was the first question. The second question is whether or not Xiao is truly having romantic feelings for the Traveler.

I have covered this in my other post of the list of characters having possible romantic feelings for the Traveler. Not going to details again, there seem to be a hint that Xiao does have some romantic feelings to the Traveler.

It was speculation at first, but a little note on the noticeboard at Wangshu Inn has caused this question to be raised.

Anyway, I hope Hoyoverse will give us the proper closure to all of the romance blossoming in the air... I mean, first, they confirmed that the Lumine X Childe ship is cannon, then they dropped a Lyney having a crush on the Traveler, and now this...

Regardless of who has romantic feelings for the Traveler, I think many players are wanting to see if the Traveler will reciprocate one of them. Who knows? May be we will have an all out war of the various ships involving the Traveler.

Chapter 1 - Meet 'n Greet

What happens when a person who has been diagnosed with extreme anxiety and had "retired" from volleyball finds themselves coaching a team full of guys who are a little too loud for their comfort(especially the ginger)?

"There they are! How nice of you to come on such short notice." Venti spoke, standing up from the table the entire team was eating at. Y/n smiled and shook his hand, "of course. Not like I have much to do anyways." Y/n giggled before sitting down where Venti had pointed to, sitting in his seat. 

Y/n took a look around the table. Y/n was able to point out quite a few faces. There was kaeya, a senior setter. Usually, he was an outside hitter, and Diluc was a right hitter. Xiao, the libero of the group, Chongyun, and Qinxiu, were both swaps for back, and both played well over the entire court. They were freshmen, though. And then there was Childe. He was the middle. What y/n had seen online suggested that he was the face of the group. The captain, the "heartthrob," "best player there has been in years!" whatever you could say to boost one person's ego. 

Personally, y/n was more interested in seeing his hits, not his looks. That could've just been their overall fascination with the adrenaline of watching a hitter jump up higher than the net. Slam the ball with such force it sounds like a shotgun firing before hitting the ground and bouncing to the bleachers.  

"Team! This is y/n l/n. I'm sure many of you recognize their name from a few years ago. The K'anrehians setter is one of the best players from the female births side of the game. They're the best setter I've seen, period. And, Kaeya's new coach!" Venti introduced, making everyone stare in awe. This effectively made y/n's face rush with heat as they shook their head.  "You flatter me, Venti. I'm not all that. But I will be helping kaeya with his setting at your practices." Y/n spoke as they laid their hands in their lap, smiling bashfully. 

Suddenly Chongyun burst into a gasp and started to poke Qinxiu, "that's who the coach was on a "business" call with! Oh my gosh! I recognize them too! Their sets are impeccable. Perfect aim, speed, power, everything!!" Zhongyun said in a hushed whisper as Qinxiu nodded, smiling as he leaned forward. 

Kaeya leaned forward, "so you're the one that coach said was going to save our careers? How lovely. Well, I'm Kaeya, but feel free to call me the hot one." he spoke, a wink following. Only to have a scoff returned to him by Diluc.

"Greetings. I'm Diluc, a right-side hitter." He said, nodding at y/n with a straight face. Xiao nodded before speaking, "I'm xiao. Libero." He spoke short and to the point. His personality was directly parallel to his looks. 

Then, Childe spoke up, with a loud 'ahem' "I'm Childe! The captain. The best middle you'd ever meet!" He declared, stretching his arms forward before sliding them behind his head. Y/n smiles and shakes their head. 

"It's a pleasure to meet you all. I'm excited to work with you and help you guys grow." y/n smiled as they clapped their hands together with excitement. They really were ecstatic to meet and play with a new team. They may not be playing games. It would still be nice to be on par with who they were playing with and not watch as little kids struggled to take an extra step to the ball. Reckon, they were nervous about stepping up and being with these people. 

Would they make a fool of themself? Y/n couldn't help their beating heart grow in pace with their thoughts. Y/ns mind traveled at the speed of light as they struggled to get it under control. The team fell into a conversation with each other. y/ns chest felt tight, and their stomach felt like it was being shoved in a blender. Y/ns hands started to fidget as their breathing became shallow. They were going to make a fool of themself, weren't they? They felt their heart beat faster and faster. Suddenly, it felt like there were just too many people in this restaurant and around the table. A plate being slid in front of them caught their attention and turned their brains' emotions toward it. It had food. They had ordered it. y/n took a shaky breath closing their eyes for a second or two before lifting up a fork and taking a bite. y/n needed to calm themself, and they knew it. Y/n focused on eating and trying to join small talk with team members. 

"so xiao, where are you from?" y/n asked, their eyes focusing on the libero sitting next to them to their left(to his left was an oddly close venti).  "I'm from Liyue. I came here because Venti asked me to play for his team." Xiao expressed succinctly. He crossed his arms. he wasn't eating anything. It looked like maybe he didn't like Mondstat cuisine.  "yup! he owed me a favor after I helped him with something. So he came here. he has been my favorite player since!" Venti pipped in, bumping shoulders with Xiao light heartily. Xiao gave a curt nod to that. y/n smiled, "That's great! Did you play for the Liyue team when you were there? The Qixing is what I think their team used to be called..." y/n said, trying to toss the name around in their head till it fell in place. Xiao nodded before speaking. "I did, but I played for the Adepti, not the Qixing," he reflected. "yeah, He's the only Adepti that still plays volleyball. They either got bored or went into a different sport. mainly basketball." Venti spoke, grinning brightly at his prized player. "it's a good thing! Otherwise, I don't think I would've got him to play. Should have seen him on the court! Xiao is better at being a libero than the K'hanerians!" he laughed. Y/n couldn't help but smile in adoration. They looked at xiao with a look that screamed that they were curious to see him play. Xiao merely shrugged as the sound of people talking came to y/ns attention. 

Redirecting their attention, they found that Childe was the source of this sound. He was loudly laughing as he talked to kaeya, and y/n couldn't help but smile at the rest of the team. The team looked happy. Not a speck of discomfort or anxious glances. y/ns heart filled to the brim with a sort of delightful longing. Y/n wanted to feel a part of the team again, knowing the ins and outs of everyone's inner life and how they played and talked and animated their speech or lack thereof. y/n could tell this team was close just by looking at them. They all came from different backgrounds. Different regions of the world, but they all were so happy. y/n smiled before taking a bite of their food. Learning about this team would be so much fun. 

It wasn't too long for y/n to be the topic of conversation once more. Well, of course! New additions to the team would be something that needed to be explored. Specifically, Childe wanted to know more about this mysterious person that was apparently so good that Venti, the coach, wanted them to join. 

"So, y/n, what's your background in volleyball?" Childe said, loud and confident, much like what he appeared to be.  "hm? oh! I played professionally for a while and then retired. They didn't particularly want to share their past, but that would sound untrustworthy and abnormal if they withheld information.  "Really? What's the reason for your retirement?" Childe asked. His ocean-hued eyes pierced y/n's soul, and they felt restlessness bubble up.  "oh! uh, it was just an unfriendly environment, and the manager of a rival team spread some shade on us privately, and we got disbanded... I left before then. Some people continue to fight to be fetched in again," y/n explained awkwardly, scratching their arm. They didn't really know how much they wanted to say about the situation considering it still left a bitter taste in their mouth.  "hm, that's weird. Well, I always hear that the K'hanerians were some of the best! Wasn't it during the archon playoffs that they lost and disbanded?" Childe asked, glancing at Kaeya, who nodded

"mhm. There was an out of Teyvat team who joined out of nowhere for money and took us out. The guy team still has most of its players intact. Say, Kaeya weren't you on the male team?" y/n asked, desperately searching for a different person for this topic to be attached to, lest the group started asking about the team itself.  "Yessir, I was the captain for a really long time. From sophomore year to senior year, I lead as an outside. Though, I enjoy this team more. I feel more at ease. The K'hanerians were always die-hards about the sport, and if you weren't dedicated to spending your entire life in the gym: they treated you like crud." Kaeya shook his head, thinking of the older times with his previous team. y/n nodded with approval. That's exactly what their team was like, if not more so.  "Well, I'm glad you found a better team then, Kaeya. The K'hanerias were really good at sucking all the love for this sport straight out of you." y/n sympathized with him. A smile graced their lips before looking at Diluc, who had started a new conversation about wine or something of the sort. He wanted to speak to Xiao, but then he joined in, and now Kaeya. y/n didn't bother. They weren't much of an alcohol sort of person.

Y/n continued to peck at their food as they sat with the team. They were curious to know what all these guys were like on the court. Their strengths, weaknesses, their positions. Everyone had already been introduced to where they preferred to be, but y/n wanted to know if they were perfected in other places. Have they perfected the back row? Front row? Middle? Had they perfected a part of a game, the serve? The serve was probably the key-part and could either break or make an entire match. Y/n looked around the table, glancing at each of their faces and arms.

They had heard of Childes' services. Childe was strong and quick. Sadly, his serves were high, giving time for the other team to get under them. Diluc had a float serve. The ball went to the other side before becoming weak and hard to predict. Then there was Xiao. Xiao was a hard serve to get down. It was underhand, but don't underestimate that. It went high, it went extremely high, and with pinpoint accuracy. It made for a nasty serve. It regularly took out the setter or made the team a little disoriented. It made y/n happy that this team had at least three servers. 

These servers didn't mean the group would always get an ace, so how good was their defense? Y/n couldn't say exactly, but Xiao was their shining libero. If what Venti said stood correct, then it would be hard to not have an adequate defense. y/n felt the excitement to play with this team course through their veins and pull their lips into a smile.

(okay i'm dropping the tv show host voice now)

viridescent/maiden's - there were only 5 enemies so it was alright. not the comfiest clear by a long shot, but with better kiting skills than mine it definitely works

noblesse/bloodstained - hoo boy. despite the pyro abyss mage that i knew for a fact lyney had no chance of dealing with completely solo, i did it anyway cuz i'm the graystillplays of genshin players chongyun mains. and. yup. he died. and this is when i realized that an er sands would actually not be a bad idea for solo-ing purposes. since he gets that one stack from his burst, he can still go back up to full health if he ever drops below the usual 60% hp. of course the nre was still essential for me, but this trick definitely helped prolong his lifespan a bit. i did unfortunately have to use my other non-pyro teammates tho, i.e. barbara, candace, and lisa, all lvl >40 (again, i'm doing this to find the most efficient friendship farming strategy for domains). and of course they died too. but i beat the domain in the end. with the tiniest sliver of health on lyney. so yeah.

blizzard strayer/heart of depth - i has donned the er sands. and boy. despite the obvious loss in damage after giving up my atk sands, it was by far the most comfortable clear, despite having to fight a fucking abominable snowman. it's thanks in part to those little moments where the thing will sometimes just stand around not knowing what to do. it's not a slow connection thing it's just. idk, the movement code being wonky or whatever. (i'm not a game dev; don't come after me for not knowing game dev terms.) because of those, i had an easier time dodging, and also getting headshots in. i am not going to redo the previous two with the er sands (even i'm not that masochistic), but it definitely would've made those clears at least a little bit more comfortable

tenacity/pale flame - oh my god, that was actual pain and suffering. he literally died three times — it was awful. -20,000/10 would not recommend. unless you have some kind of shielder or resistance to interruption, these fuckers are a nightmare to fight

shimenawa/emblem - despite the electro abyss mage and his annoying electro ring thing, it was even easier than the blizzard strayer domain. goddamn

husk/clam - this... actually went way smoother than i thought it would. i did not eat a single healing food in this domain, and lyney still cleared it with full hp. his hats actually made for some decent crowd control so i didn't get corrosion as much. my teammates were all on life support tho, that much goes without saying. also that little healing trick with his burst helped a ton, especially now that he gets his burst back every two casts of his skill. the hat taunt + his skill + his burst let me get in quite a bit of aoe damage as well. he did not die once, i did not swap into my other party members the whole time. overall, i'm surprised at how well he can actually clear this domain. he might even be better than the bennet+kazuha duo here

gilded/deepwood - was pretty chill on account of not needing to hug the enemies like bennett and kazuha do. and also the er sands (ergo, way more burst casts) was enough to keep him super healthy without healing food

marechaussee/golden troupe - i mean this domain was basically tailor-made for lyney. so of course he's gonna clear it with ease. his damage wasn't amazing on account of er sands of course. but not needing to eat healing food constantly was nice and comfy. it was also fairly fun kiting practice: the meks aren't the fastest, so there's a decent size window to dash out of range of their attacks when they try to lunge at you. again, the taunt also helped them not come after me constantly. i definitely would do this again cuz i already use lyney to clear this domain anyway; might as well have him solo it and take freeloaders along to soak up the friendship points

👻 Occult club leader! Chongyun’s background is from a prestigious family line of exorcists, whose duties cycle around the aspect of exorcising the lost wondering souls of the dead. In order to quickly put them to rest before they transform into demons.

👻Once he took up the mantle of his parents teachings, he was determined to carry out his mission to exterminate otherworldly beings that do not belong/poses harm to humanity. But he realized he could only do so much alone, so he opted to spread awareness in the most discrete way possible.

👻 He joined the Occult club in order to warn others about the unknown, though left it up to his club members to take that information to heart. Which they did, so they crowned him with the nickname “ghost boy” as well as handing him the leadership role due to his unrivaled knowledge about the supernatural.

👻 Occult club leader! Chongyun is a composed and stoic fellow, who’s hardworking and stern with self discipline. Although his social skills are a bit questionable. He avoids small talk every chance he can and is quite uncomfortable with being around his fellow classmates.

👻it isn’t because he hates people, it’s mainly because he just doesn’t know how to act in a suitable manner. His social awkwardness stems from being homeschooled from a young age in order to be taught the art of exorcism that’s left behind front his ancestors.

👻 Once in passing he got bumped into from behind, and heard a thud. Debating on wether to turn around or speedily walk off into the distance. He decided to offer a hand once he heard a groan, turning around He was at a lost for words.

👻 What drew Occult club leader! Chongyun to Senpai was the alluring energy surrounding them. It was a breath of fresh air, compared to the other students whose energies were foggy and cramped with negativity.

👻 It made him feel warm and welcomed, it was almost as if he was at a festival that held joyous laughter and harmony along with serene sound of bell charms.

👻The soft grip on his hand brought him back to reality, when they grabbed him it wasn’t to pull themselves up. It was to grab his attention to make sure that Chongyun was ok, despite sitting in a pile of fallen paper work. Making his heart skip a beat.

👻 He became extremely flustered so much so that he couldn’t seem to handle it. And almost reverted to his maniac state which is basically a whole different personality, that is overall daring, illogical, and impulsive. Once he gets into this state he’s impossible to control.

👻Since occult club leader! Chongyun possesses a vast amount of positive spiritual energy he’s more susceptible to fall into his manic state. From the mere overstimulation of what he seems to hold a great passion for. Whether it be Senpai, favorite food/drinks, friendly gatherings, fierce competition. Hell, even the heat from the sun itself has an affect on him.

👻 Ever since his encounter with Senpai, they seemed to pop by his club from time to time. Eyes full of curiosity whenever he talked about the supernatural world.

👻 He’d always look forward to whenever Senpai would stop by to ask amusing questions. That’d make him crack a smile, and thanks to them he’s gotten somewhat better with being social.

👻he’ll work the courage to talk to you and randomly give you small gifts, such as warding charms, sweets, and little notes about ghosts or simply words of helpful advice.

👻He will also be sure to give a helping hand whenever he sees that they’re in a predicament. If they forgot they’re umbrella and it’s raining Chongyun will offer up his instead then leave swiftly without a word.

👻 Soon he became utterly enamored with Senpai and started watching over them from afar from time to time. He was a little bit worried since the quality of their pure soul was simply too great a temptation for other evil spirits especially demons to ignore the urge to corrupt it.

👻 So on his breaks he diligently starts roaming the school grounds, in search of evil spirits that disturb the peace. While also watching out for those who held bad intentions for Senpai.

👻As to prevent Senpai from getting plagued by evil spirits/demons Chongyun has made the effort to stick besides them like glue should they see one hanging near.

👻And if one happened to be latched onto them, he’ll push himself to give them hugs or any form of physical contact. Claiming he’s cleansing them with a straightforward face, thankfully Senpai believed him and didn’t think that it was partly for his own self satisfaction. Which it honestly was.

👻Should someone seek to pursue Senpai with bad intentions, although it goes against principle he will go out of his way to summon his own household familiar spirits. In order to deter said rivals from corrupting his darlings soul.

👻they’ll be plagued with nightmares that come in a form as a warning, if they still persist. They will begin to show signs of fatigue, lack of sleep, minor headaches, and cramps.

👻If that still doesn’t work then it’ll start to get even more serious from having deadly illnesses to getting the worst of luck. Of which may cause them to have a fatal accident.

👻If they continue to pursue, then he’ll be forced to use evil spirits to his advantage. By luring them over to his target so they could get possessed giving him a good excuse to execute both spirit and rival. Effectively killing two birds with one stone.

✧ Author's Notes | You guys seemed to enjoy "You Again?" so here's another Scaramouche x Reader (I probably won't stop writing about them anytime soon so I think I should make a Masterlist...)

"Another day for daily commissions Oh gee I am soooo excited!" I sarcastically say as I yawn and teleport my way to Tatarasuna. The commission wasn't that hard, just blow away the electro fog. fight some enemies. and done. To be honest, I'm just bored...and tired.

As I stretch and yawn, I spot a familiar red glow in the corner of me eye. "Chest." I immediately thought as I tried to get to that chest as fast as possible because I might forget about it and if I forget about it, I WOULD HAVE NO FREEMOS!!!.

"God, sometimes I hate this place!" I curse as I climb up and cross the broken bridge foundations only to bump into a...Fatui camp. Just great.

"This is fine. My team won't die on me...right?" Oh how wrong I was. You seem my team comp consists of Ayato, Chongyun, Kazuha and Kokomi which is a Swirl-Freeze comp. And being surrounded by electro does not put me in an advantage...especially with the fact there is a Mirror Maiden here.

By the time I finished clearing out this Fatui comp, I had lost sight of the chest so I had to roam around again...which isn't a bad thing since I could look for more chests but I had already gotten through most of them sadly.

I stop by an area to rest and heal up by summoning Kokomi's jellyfish but I got interrupted by another Fatui camp. "How many of these are here!?!?" I exclaim as I did my usual routine of rounding them up and freezing them. What I didn't account for was the fact this battle was WAYYYY high up in the air and near the edge!

I was panicking as I am running out of stamina so gliding won't save me. I could just plunge down but with how far I am, I won't be able to make it. I try to think of other options but I'm surrounded with no stamina and low HP. "I'm screwed aren't I..."

I prepare for my fate and close my eyes only to see a flash of purple lightning and a familiar face show up. "Scara...? What the hell are you doing here?" I ask. "Less talking, more fighting." With a flash of electro from his catalyst, he knocks them down but they brought back-up.

"Change of plans. On the count of 3...we jump." Scaramouche said as we were literally getting backed over onto the edge.

"One..." "Wait, WHAT!?!?" "Two..." "I have no stamina!" "Three!"

He shoves me off the edge and jumps right after me, opening his glider and carrying me bridal style. "Catch us if you can suckers! HAHAHA!!!" He cackles. "Wow...my hero!" I dramatically say. "I am literally a criminal." He stated. "Doesn't change the fact that I love you hehe." I say with a sly smile. "I am so tempted to drop you off right now." "PLEASE DON'T!!!" "I was just joking! ...sorta." "SORTA!?!?"

He drops down onto a safe place away from the camps so we can rest. "First of all. What were you thinking!? Your team isn't suited for this environment! And there are Fatui Camps everywhere!" Scaramouche exclaims. "I was doing a commission and then I spotted a chest and I wanted to go get it! What are you even doing here?" I ask. "I had to take care of some...unfinished business." He explains.

"In a place surrounded by Fatui camps while you are trying to run away from them?" I stated. "It's personal. So it's none of you business." He stated. "Fair enough." I say. He sighs, "Let's get out of here while we can, lest we be spotted again." He says as he was about to leave.

I summon Kokomi's jellyfish. "What are you doing?" He asks. "Healing us, those Fatui surprisingly had high HP." I explained. "Tch. I don't need it." He says. "Suit yourself."
