I totally agree with the soft scenes part but like... I would have preferred it if Calliope was the short, soft, bubbly one and Juliette the tall intimidating one. I’ve rarely scene Black female characters, especially Black Lesbian characters embodying these traits.

I would have loved to see a tall, somewhat androgynous white vampire girl being absolutely infatuated with and very protective of a shy, bubbly, soft, ‘hyperfeminine’ black girl who is a vampire hunter. Now, I know she’s supposed to be a vampire hunter and be somewhat athletic but she could have been written as a really soft girl struggling to accept her fate as a huntress because she doesn’t like violence and has different views from her family because she doesn’t think that monsters are all evil or something.

Also, if I could reboot the show, Imani would still be Calliope because I feel like she’s a relatively new face in the world of TV and I think it’s important to have more new faces and give more opportunities to Black and generally non-white actors BUT, I’ve been thinking of maybe Zendaya (yes, I know, she’s fancasted a lot lol) because she could definitely pull that androgynous but feminine-leaning aesthetic I have in mind for a more « masculine » Juliette as opposed to a more hyperfem Calliope.

But I also like the fact that Juliette is white and she’s the non-human one because very often, non-human races in media are coded as non-white and the human characters are almost all white, so it was nice to see that! I’m thinking of Christina Kartchner (Eve from Never Have I Ever).

OMG I would love Zendaya as Juliette! But also I love Christina Kartchner as Juliette too!!! Those are some excellent ideas.

I totally get where you're coming from with the concerns tho. I think honestly tho that like it wasn't like Batwoman which already has a built in audience of comic book fans you know? Hopefully we get at least a movie to wrap it up or maybe even a reboot in like 10 years.
