There are a lot of great, old photos of Vancouver students, but few can beat W.J. Moore’s 1921 rendering of John Oliver’s enrollment. Moore was a commercial photographer who roamed the city with his fancy Kodak No. 8 Cirkut camera that allowed him to produce panoramic photos up to eight feet wide. When South Van High moved from 49th and Knight to Fraser and 43rd, the opening of the new building demanded a special group pic to commemorate the event and the name change. Moore used his expensive, wind-up, spring-powered camera to capture all the students and staff. The Kodak Cirkut was tricky to operate. The camera rotated atop the tripod, scanning up to 360 degrees. Subjects had to remain perfectly still while the lens was on them, but once it swept past, a prankster could run to the other side of the frame and appear twice in the same pic! Apparently, there were no jokers among these Jokers on this day, probably because their no-nonsense principal, Jake Palmer, was seated front and centre with his arms crossed – and eyes in the back of his head.

"Torn" is a song by American singer Ava Max, released on August 19, 2019, as the third single from her debut studio album, Heaven & Hell (2020). The song was written by Max, Madison Love, James Lavigne, Thomas Eriksen, Sam Martin, and the producer Cirkut. It is a dance and pop song with lyrics describing the internal struggle between wanting to stay and leave in a relationship. An accompanying superhero-themed music video was directed by Korean-American director Joseph Kahn.

In Poland, "Torn" peaked at number three on the Polish Airplay Top 100 chart and was certified double platinum in the country. The song reached number three in the Netherlands, number four in Slovakia, and number nine in Slovenia. On the Scottish Singles Chart, "Torn" bowed at number 18, while it peaked at number 87 on the UK Singles Chart. "Torn" was certified gold in Austria, Brazil, France, Italy, and Switzerland.

ARTPOP Act II 🔵

I totally get where Lady Gaga is coming from.

She's saying that ARTPOP Act II isn't completely off the table, but it wouldn't happen the way fans might expect. She's not just going to release a collection of old, unreleased songs because fans want it, and I really respect that. Instead, if she were to revisit the concept, it would have to be a fresh, intentional project that reacts to the current moment, just like how ARTPOP was such a product of its time. While she's not ruling it out entirely, it would need to feel relevant and purposeful, rather than just fulfilling fan expectations. So, while ARTPOP Act 2 isn't impossible, it's unlikely to be what fans envision. But like she said, it's not NEVER or IMPOSSIBLE... it just means she'd need to get back into that EDM headspace and artistic mindset again So, we'll just have to wait and see what the future holds for ARTPOP. But ARTPOP truly changed my life and so many others, it makes us wanna dance and it energizes us to keep going in life and not give up on ourselves or our struggles. Electronic dance music truly is so powerful! And I think Gaga knows that and understands that. Maybe DWS can come back or even Cirkut can come and make a brand new EDM album who knows, but for now, we'll wait and see for ARTPOP Act II, We love you, Gaga! #ARTPOP forever!! 🔵💜🎶
