Clara: I'm not lending you money to open a grilled cheese restaurant.

Gaius: But it could be revolutionary for this town! I have a whole business plan!

Clara: I'll think about it if you come up with a whole business plan that isn't grilled cheese themed, kiddo.

The grilled cheese restaurant didn't put Harper off introducing herself and asking Gaius if he'd like to get to know each other. As far as manbuns go, he's kinda rocking the look.

Gail: Hello, Gaius.

Harper: Who is that and why are they spitting your name like that?

Gaius: Oh, that's Gail, she's my ex-girlfriend.

Gail: Excuse you, I'm not just an ex-girlfriend, I have a rich inner life and a career. And a hobby!

A happy cry of childish joy could be heard as soon as Charlotte and Joseph crossed the threshold of the house.

“Blanche!” Lottie immediately scooped her niece into her arms as soon as she crawled into the hall. “Good heavens!” How big you are now!”

“You saw her in December. It's not like she's grown to the size of a tree within a month” Joseph, mumbled, his arms crossed.

Charlotte ignored him.

Their journey home was as pleasant as a pile of molded scones.

He keept complaining that Charlotte had behaved outrageously and that she could have at least tried to spread lies about the headmaster before Christmas, because now it caused them much more problems and their time.

She just wanted him to stop talking, while wondering what to do with her life. Maybe she should become a nun? It wasn't an occupation that left much room for romance, but maybe there would be a handsome priest, like in that one book that her sister took from her very quickly…

Luckily, she wasn't thinking about that now as she greeted little Blanche. And she heard her sister's footsteps. She quickly put Blanche on the ground, getting ready for a fight.

Clara hasn't changed that much in a month. She still looked tired but maybe her pregnancy belly was a bit more visible now. And as usual when she saw her little sister, Clara's face turned irritated

“How could you do this to us Charlotte? Why are you being so ungrateful? We sent you to this school because we wanted the best for you and this is how you repay us?” Clara started.

“She was obviously looking for attention,” Joseph added, and Charlotte felt rage boiling inside her. She hated false accusations. She hated it when someone else tried to tell her why she did something. Especially since she didn't do anything.

“I didn't–” Charlotte started, but was immediately interrupted.”

“Enough” Clara said, “Go to your room. We will talk tomorrow”

Women’s History Meme || Executions and Murders (5/5) ↬ Blanche of Bourbon, Queen consort of Castile

At a loss for a motive or cause behind Blanche’s death, Ayala resorts to another apocryphal story. One day, he writes, Pedro was hunting in the environs of Jerez when a shepherd claiming to have a message from God approached him. Pedro was enjoined to renew conjugal relations with Blanche and was assured legitimate heirs to the throne. If he disobeyed, he was promised a tragic end. Suspecting a conspiracy, the king ordered the imprisonment of the shepherd and dispatched Lopez de Cordoba (his camarero) and Matheos Fernandez (cancilfer del sello de fa poridad) to see if Blanche had been a party to the ruse. Though she declared her innocence, Pedro nevertheless ordered her death. … While it is impossible to know the true circumstances of Blanche’s death, Ayala’s story is a useful fabrication invented to highlight the absence of legitimate heirs to the throne, a feature of Pedro’s story intended to lessen the burden of Enrique’s illegitimacy. At the same time, Ayala’s portrayal of Blanche as victim, up to and including the circumstances of her reported death, is a constant feature of the chronicle. If Pedro in fact ordered her death, which is what Ayala wants us to believe, Blanche was one of his most undeserving victims, and the king was at his most merciless and cruel. As if by God’s judgment, or so Catalina implies, Maria de Padilla died shortly thereafter, in July 1361. She likely died of natural causes—as Blanche may have—leaving Pedro four children: Alfonso, Beatriz, Constanza, and Isabel. Immediately after her death, Pedro proclaimed her queen of Castile and ordered a royal burial, with all attendant honors. A funeral cortege carried her body to the monastery of Santa Clara de Astudillo, which she had founded in 1354. Summary - Clara and Clyde leave the woods and go to her house, Ted comes to her house and Clyde runs out the window, Clara doesn't know until she finds a note left by Clyde.

The car pulled up outside of Clara's house and they walked to the door, both entangled in a passionate kiss. Clara quickly unlocked the door and kicked it closed as they walked inside.

Clyde's hands were on her waist as they walked towards the couch.

"Clara?" Clara's mother, Elizabeth, called. "Is that you?"

"Your mama's home? Why didn't you tell me she was home?" Clyde whispered.

"I'm sorry, I thought she was asleep." Clara whispered back. "Um, yeah mama it's me." Clara called back and her mother's footsteps got louder as she walked down the hall.

"What on earth are you doing up a-," Elizabeth started and stopped. "Who's this?"

"Mama, this is Clyde Barrow, he's a cousin of Louisa's."

"Pleasure to meet ya, Mrs Odell." He took his fedora off, holding it to his chest and offering his hand.

"Why is he here?" Elizabeth looked at Clara.

"He's passing through on his way to Ohio, for a job in uh, in printing." Clara said and Clyde looked at her confused.

"Not many men have jobs these days."

"Yes ma'am."

"You should feel lucky."

"I do ma'am, believe me, I do." He smiled and held Clara's hand.

"There's an extra sheet in the closet, you can stay on the sofa. I'm sorry there's no blankets or pillows." She said to Clyde.

"That's quite alright ma'am." Clyde smiled

"I'll be expecting you in bed shortly, Clara."

"Yes mama."

"Almost immediately."

"I get it mama." Clara said and Elizabeth left. "I'm sorry about her." Clara apologised.

"It's fine, sugar." Clyde smiled.

Clara grabbed the sheet and put it on the couch, before the door knocked. Clyde hid behind the sofa while Clara got the door.

"Ted? What are you doing here?"

"Following some leads on a case, two men broke out of prison, just wanted to make sure you and your mama are safe." Ted said.

"Well thanks Ted, I gotta get to bed."

Ted stepped inside despite Clara's excuses, Clara prayed he wouldn't find Clyde but when she looked behind the couch, discreetly, Clyde wasn't there, just a piece of paper. Clara folded up the paper and held it in her hand before turning back to Ted.

"I haven't been here since your grandma's funeral." Ted said. "That was the first time I'd ever seen a dead body."

"Me too... I hated seeing her like that." She said.

"I remember we both hid in the backyard.."

"Eating a slice of apple pie."

"Yeah, and playing cards." Ted laughed softly and so did Clara. He cleared his throat and turned to her. "So, I'll pick you up Saturday?"

"Um, Ted-."

"And keep this door locked, okay?" Ted smiled and walked to the door, walking out.

Clara let out a big sigh and opened the piece of paper in her hand.

It was Clyde's handwriting. 'Meet me tomorrow morning, eight o'clock. 145 Oak Grove in Harrison, whistle or throw something at the second floor window on the corner.'

When Clara woke up she put a dress on and got in her car to drive to the house where Clyde told her to meet.

She stood on the street and whistled, seeing Clyde's face in the window with a wide grin and he rushed down to her.

"Hey, sugar." He smiled and kissed her. "You came."

"Of course I did." Clara smiled. "Where did you go last night? You left without saying anything."

"I had to get out of there, not with the laws bein' there."

"The laws? Oh, Ted? He's harmless."

"Harmless to you, he won't be the same to me, I'm a wanted man."

"You are?"

"You didn't see the newspaper headlines?"

"Yeah I did, I'm just teasing." She smirked.

"You're cruel sugar." He put his hands on her waist. "C'mon, there's people I want ya to meet."

Clyde took her hand and they walked to Blanche and Buck's apartment.

"Clara, this is my brother, Buck Barrow." He said.

"Pleasure to meet you." She shook Buck's hand.

"Buck, this is Clara Odell." Clyde said.

"Nice to meet you." Buck shook her hand.

Clyde put his hand on Clara's waist and turned her to kiss her.

Blanche, Buck's wife, cleared her throat loudly and Clyde pulled away, letting out a groan. "And this is my sister-in-law, Blanche."

"Pleasure." Blanche said.

"All mine." Clara smiled.

Clyde and Buck talked and Blanche sat on the arm of a chair. "Buck. Buck. BUCK!"

"What is your problem, woman?" Clyde asked and Clara stood with her arms wrapped around Clyde's waist.

"Tell him." Blanche said.

"Tell me what?" Clyde asked.

"Well, um, I, I'm um, I'm going back to pri..son." Buck said, not saying the last part loud enough.

"What was that? It sounded like you said.."

"Buck's going back to finish his sentence, if you had any sense you'd do the same." Blanche interrupted Clyde.

"Buck, is what she's sayin' true?" Clyde looked at Buck.

"Blanche decided." He started but Blanche shot him a look. "And me- both of us- decided that the best thing would be for me to go back and finish my sentence, wipe the slate clean."

Clyde scoffed and took Clara's hand. "Lets go sugar."

"Maybe you should go back too baby."

"Goin' back ain't an option, Clyde Barrow ain't ever settin' foot in a prison again."

"Well then maybe we can go somewhere else, we want to leave West Dallas anyway. You could find a job, start fresh. I want you to be a man, honey, not a thug." Clara said and Clyde slapped her in the face, causing her to fall down slightly.

"Don't you ever talk to me that way again, sugar." He said, pointing his finger at her with a growl in his voice.

Clara got back on her feet and slapped Clyde in the face. "Don't ever, raise a hand to me, baby." She said, her voice breaking slightly and walking out to her car.
