Oil and Gas Emissions Unveiling the Urgent Need to Curb Oil and Gas Emissions: A Closer Look at Suncor's Revised Production Focus Oil and Gas Emissions take center stage as industry leaders grapple with environmental responsibilities and regulatory pressures, signaling a pivotal shift in the energy landscape. Unveiling the Path to Curbing Oil and Gas Emissions: Suncor's New DirectionIn a transformative shift for Canada's energy landscape, recent remarks by the CEO of a major oilsands company have ignited a debate around the urgent need for federal regulations to cap greenhouse-gas emissions within the oil and gas sector. As reported by NewsBurrow Press team, Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault has responded to the statements, shedding light on the mounting pressure for enhanced environmental responsibility. The Suncor Effect: A Call for Emissions RegulationIn a candid interview with The Canadian Press, Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault expressed his disappointment with the Aug. 15 remarks made by Suncor CEO Rich Kruger. Guilbeault highlighted the incongruity of such statements, especially against the backdrop of a summer riddled with wildfires and record-breaking global temperatures. Guilbeault's stance resonates with the tens of thousands of Canadians who experienced the devastating impact of climate change firsthand.Kruger's statements seemingly hint at a shift in Suncor's strategic focus, leaning more toward short-term profit rather than acknowledging the pressing climate crisis. Guilbeault underscored that embracing such a perspective runs counter to the essential need for sustainability efforts and climate change mitigation. These comments have only strengthened Guilbeault's resolve to push forward with the implementation of federal regulations aimed at capping emissions from oil and gas production.Emissions Landscape and Regulatory ImperativesOil and gas production is a significant contributor to Canada's total emissions, responsible for 28 per cent of the nation's emissions in 2021. The oilsands, a vital resource for Canada's energy sector, accounts for a substantial 13 per cent of the country's total emissions. Notably, Suncor alone contributed 17.4 million tonnes of emissions, comprising 2.5 per cent of the national total. These figures underscore the urgency of implementing emissions caps and transitioning toward more sustainable practices.Guilbeault's Emissions Reduction Plan, published in 2022, emphasizes an ambitious reduction target of over 40 per cent in oil and gas emissions by 2030. This plan aligns with the international call to action to limit global warming and minimize the adverse effects of climate change.A Shifting Corporate LandscapeKruger's introspective evaluation of Suncor's strategic framework reveals a growing emphasis on the immediate financial prospects presented by the oilsands. This shift in focus is a direct response to the evolving energy landscape and the need to address the broader energy transition conversation. Suncor's willingness to reevaluate its strategic priorities showcases the complex decisions that industry leaders must make to navigate the evolving energy landscape.Pathways Alliance: Commitment to Net-ZeroIn the quest for sustainability, Suncor remains committed to the Pathways Alliance, a consortium of six oilsands companies striving to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. The term "net-zero" encapsulates the concept of neutralizing remaining greenhouse-gas emissions through technology or natural processes. The consortium's dedication to implementing carbon-capture technology reflects a concerted effort to align with Canada's climate targets.Industry Reflections and Federal OversightBoth Suncor and the Pathways Alliance are at the center of ongoing discussions regarding the feasibility of meeting federal emission reduction timelines. While the industry acknowledges the significance of environmental goals, there's a cautious realism regarding the ambitious nature of these targets. However, the federal government, as conveyed by Guilbeault, asserts that the oil and gas sector must play its part in ensuring Canada's environmental commitments are met.A Forward-Facing ApproachSuncor's recent strategic adjustments are also evidenced by its decision to divest from wind and solar power assets. This move signals a refined focus on its core operations, particularly within the oilsands. The company's acquisition of the Fort Hills oilsands mine from Teck Resources and TotalEnergies further underlines its commitment to strengthening its position within the oilsands sector.Moving Ahead: A Collective ResponsibilityAs Canada treads the path toward a greener future, the significance of effective regulations and corporate responsibility becomes paramount. The federal government's determination to publish draft regulations for emissions caps signals a significant step forward. In a complex regulatory landscape, the commitment of both industry and government is crucial in shaping a sustainable and resilient future. In conclusion, the shifting perspective within Suncor's strategic framework and the government's determination to curb emissions underscore the pressing need for change. With Canada's environmental commitments in mind, the journey toward a greener and more sustainable energy future must continue to evolve. The debate surrounding emissions caps and the collective responsibility to address climate change will undoubtedly remain at the forefront of industry and policy discussions for years to come. [ad_1] Unveiling the Urgent Need to Curb Oil and Gas Emissions: A Closer Look at Suncor's Revised Production Focus Unlocking a Sustainable Future with Renewable Energy TechnologiesAs the world grapples with the urgent need to address climate change, the recent discussions surrounding oil and gas emissions have shed light on the critical role of renewable energy technologies in shaping a sustainable future. The statements made by the CEO of a major oilsands company have sparked conversations about the need for stringent regulations to cap greenhouse-gas emissions in the oil and gas sector. The Environment Minister's stance on these issues emphasizes the importance of transitioning towards cleaner energy sources to combat the global climate crisis. In a time when wildfires rage and record-breaking temperatures become the norm, the imperative to act is undeniable. The call for federal regulations to limit emissions serves as a wake-up call for industries to explore innovative solutions that minimize their carbon footprint. This fall, draft regulations are expected to be published, signaling a clear intention to drive down emissions from oil and gas production. The sector's contributions to Canada's emissions cannot be underestimated, making it evident that a shift towards greener alternatives is crucial. As the world watches and adapts to these changes, there's a growing interest in embracing renewable energy technologies that can power a more sustainable tomorrow. The focus on immediate financial opportunities in the oil and gas sector's transition underscores the potential of renewable energy sources to not only drive economic growth but also address environmental concerns. The pathway to net-zero emissions requires collaborative efforts, technological advancements, and an unwavering commitment to shaping a cleaner, healthier planet. In the following section, we delve into some of the groundbreaking renewable energy technologies that are at the forefront of this paradigm shift. Wondering the “Why”
Hello on a steamy July afternoon, As the global sizzles from the Southwest to the European continent and beyond, it is increasingly apparent that we are facing temperatures and heat that is beyond what we are used to, climate events that have cactuses in Arizona dying from the heat. That is stunning to me. Since when does it get too hot for a cactus? And yet, there are daily examples of how…

❄️ It's February 27, International Polar Bear Day!
Tumblr media
❄️ International Polar Bear Day is celebrated every year on February 27th to raise awareness of the current state of polar bear conservation. As stewards of this planet, it's our responsibility to protect all Arctic animals and preserve their delicate ecosystem for future generations.
Polar bears are one of the most iconic symbols of the Arctic, known for their strength, beauty, and adaptability to extreme cold environments. However, climate change is presenting them with numerous challenges. The melting sea ice caused by rising temperatures is shrinking their habitat and reducing their access to prey.
What immediate actions can we take to protect our polar bears and preserve what’s left of their fragile Arctic ecosystem? We can support specific polar bear conservation organizations such as Polar Bears International and the World Wildlife Fund's Arctic Program. These organizations work tirelessly to research and implement strategies for polar bear conservation.
We can also support specific climate change prevention organizations like 350.org and the Sierra Club, who are dedicated to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating the impacts of global warming on polar bears and their habitats.
Organizations such as Conservation International and the Nature Conservancy focus on conserving biodiversity worldwide, including fragile ecosystems like in the Arctic.
By supporting organizations focused on polar bear conservation, climate change prevention, and biodiversity preservation, we can make a positive impact on protecting our beloved polar bears and preserving the delicate Arctic ecosystem for generations to come. Please do what you can to help. ☮️ Peace… Jamiese of Pixoplanet

AI for Humanity, Artificial Rain by Swarm of Drone #forest_fires #climate_change
Note: No such AI exists so it can be called AI fiction
AI for Humanity, here we discuss for AI and Forest Fires and previously, we discussed in short about AI for severe storm prediction. Here are short points.
Main topic —
AI based drone lights shows are becoming popular, when AI drones can do such nice drone shows in skies of cities, why not such better swarms of intelligent drones, helps in skies when fire burns? Can they be helpful, can they be able to combat forest fires — — — If not can we increase their size.
This is summary of what sounds like science fiction — a swarm of drones making artificial rains in deep forest so that fire never happens, and same swarm of drones, helping in when forests catch fires,
Here is my lecture clip on Swarm of Drones,
youtube
So artificial rain can be in a science fiction way be brought by swarm of drones. Once forests are on fire swarm of drones with water/chemicals/ can be send in the place.
There can be robots in forests — who would measure the dryness of bark of trees, dryness of soils and report it to central server of the country near to it — so if you are more near a forest fire office of another country-why not take help form another country forest fire department.
Then the robots measurement of dryness in forest, humidity, and all other measurements, is noted-and he then decides and inform humans and they calls in artificial rain with swarm of drone (Science Fiction, as of now).
Other Notes-
— Now, other supplies that can be teleported with these units are sands, fire-inhibiting chemicals, water, (de-salinated) water.
— Alert systems for houses near forest, to be alerted on time,
— Satelight image to classify severe storm and deadly storms, given now we have data, data as in those satellite images, we have data of satellite before the storm and after storm, I think we can classify the time series data not to predict any kind of severe storm then? I dont want to connect this painful an event to data to predict the future, but we need to save lives in future, it is not necessary that we may be able to predict all storms which hidded under normal storm, but we can hope to get clues that storm was that strong.
— So classify dormant clouds and normal storms — to severe and deadly, same to forest fires, how to predict the forest fires are bad or severe, how to send help and to what extent. To what extent of fire is?
— Decision making under uncertainity, we shall talk of it in say robots are in forests how to take decision by robots, under uncertainity.
— App to people for handling all kind of natural disasters.
Thank you for reading,

THE REALITY OF WORLD HUNGER IN 20 YEARS' TIME
INNOVATIONS IN AGRICULTURE: WHAT THE BILL AND MELINDA GATES FOUNDATION HAVE BEEN INITIATING ALONG WITH R.I.P.E. PROJECT MANAGER, STEPHEN LONG.
THE STATS
☆ The UN's Food and Agriculture Organization says 70% more food will be needed by 2050.
THE 1ST GREEN REVOLUTION
☆ In the mid-twentieth-century, when many parts of the world where nearly starving, the Green Revolution prevented this and 1 billion lives were spared.
☆ This was achieved through irrigation, hybridized seeds and man-made fertilizers and pesticides from industrialized countries, sent to the third world.
THE R.I.P.E. PROJECT
☆ The R.IP.E project is initiating what it hopes will become a revival: egging a twenty-first-century Green Revolution on by genetically engineering crop plant seeds, in order for crop plants to photosynthesize more efficiently.
INEFFICIENT PHOTOSYNTHESIS RATES IN CROP PLANTS AND THE LACK OF DARK GREEN LEAF MATERIAL - THE GAUGE, DETERMINING CHLOROPHYLL CONTENT.
☆ In crop plants, phototosynthesis has been found to be in short supply - with farmers using weak parent plant genes in seeds for the new season's sowing - due to a gap in the evolution of crop plants; as the plants adapt to surrounding plants, bugs ,birds and small animals; ensuring a win over their competitors for sun, water and nutrient-rich and oxygenated soil - photosynthesis necessities and biodiversity fundamentals.
DYNAMIC CONTACT - A TERM USED IN CORPORATE MARKETING
DYNAMIC INTERACTION - The special, symbiotic, beneficial or parasitic relationship between an ecosystem's species, that egg on adaptations in a particular species.
☆ Crop plants are not in the same Dynamic Contact with organisms as eco-system regulars because all and any plants that happen to sprout near or on a crop site are usually uprooted or are treated with herbicides. This is in an effort to keep all available natural resources for the crop plant to make use of alone. Also, due to pesticides/insecticides, crop plants have very little Dynamic Contact with insects, very necessary for the crop plants evolutionary adaptations, as insects teach crop plants how to protect their yield and other functions like maximizing the surface area in the sun but they also pollinate - yes! pollinate! - crop plants.
I think in recent years, it seems, insects have all but died out. No glow-worms, earthworms, dung beetles, fireflies, silkworm and so on. My theory is that we can thank our farm food crop pickers and planters as the pollen would probably get stuck between fingerprint ridges and that is what has been fertilizing many plants.
TIRED SOIL - DEVOID OF NUTRIENTS AS CHEMICAL FERTILIZERS LEAVE BEHIND NITRATE CRYSTALS (300X MORE TOXIC THAN CO2) AND THEIR PRESENCE ALSO KILLS OFF EARTHWORMS - NECESSARY TO OXYGENATE TOPSOIL AND BIO- DEGRADE ORGANIC MATERIALS LEAVING BEHIND NUTRIENTS.
☆ Also, crop plants are usually planted, crop upon crop, year after year, draining the soil of necessary nutrients needed to facilitate photosynthesis.
Tumblr media
Agapanthus leaves, showing the high concentration of chlorophyll, visible through the dark green pigmentation of the leaves.
EVOLUTION WOULD INADVERTENTLYKILL OFF LONE CROP PLANTS.
☆ Evolution's natural selection would focus on survival and reproduction and therefore would focus on pollination. So in theory, for example, the plant would adapt by producing a concentrated but light and maybe sticky, pollen, easily detached by bee legs and snout, thereby maximizing the survival of the crop plant by trying to accelerate population growth rate.
25% MORE CARBON DIOXIDE IN OUR ATMOSPHERE IN THE LAST 50 YEARS. CARBON BASINS, IN THE FORM OF ICEBERGS, FORESTS AND SEA AND RIVERBEDS ARE IMPERITIVE FOR EXCESS CARBON TO BE ABSORBED. REFORESTATION PROJECTS WILL ABSORB THIS INCREASE IN CARBON DIOXIDE.
☆ In the last 50 years, a major molecule needed in photosynthesis - carbon dioxide - has increased in our atmosphere, by 25%.
☆ The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has funded the genetic engineering of crop seeds in order to increase food production, globally.
Tumblr media
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation logo
☆ In the tobacco plant leaf there is a stoma which enables gaseous exchange which, during a drought, would retain water. Hoping that the gene responsible for the tobacco plant's stoma function could be implanted in the crop plant and assist to shed heat energy, emanating from a moistureless, evaporated surface and topsoil and atmosphere quicker, genetic engineers have attempted to isolate the gene responsible for the tobacco plant's stoma and insert it into crop plants.
☆ After genetic engineers at R.I.P.E. transferred genes from the Thale Cress plant - three variants thereof - they had crop yields that were increased by 30%, 19.5% and 20%.
Tumblr media
Thale Cress
GENETICALLY ENGINEERED THALE CRESS IS A WATERWISE G.M. PLANT.
☆ The same amount of water was used for genetically engineered plants, compared to the parent plant that had not been modified yet, and only 1% more nitrogen was used by the GM Thale Cress.
WE CAN CONCLUDE THAT INDOOR FOOD GROWING WOULD NOT BE TAXING ON AVAILABLE WATER SUPPLY.
☆ Photosynthesis is a complex procedure which requires over 160 discrete steps. The program used for dreaming up potential combinations of genetic engineering - taking one species useful characteristics and then inserting the gene responsible and inserting it into another species lacking that particular function - has been attempting billions of manipulations, mathematically and in a Latin kind of way, depending on what is possible and hopefully solutions will be made commercially available soon.
My personal opinion is that in order to reduce heat energy in the atmosphere, we need to:
1. Blow up rock formations. Use smaller paving tiles and bricks etc. and use an organic or non heat conductive grout in between.
2. Stop using chemical fertillizer altogether, as the Nitrate crystals left behind are also big conductors of heat. It also kills off earthworms, who cool the soil with their oxygen by-product.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Use the gene that generate the leaves of the Agapanthus or the Arum Lily. In addition, if the Arum lily rhyzome root system gene can be implanted in the crop plant; the seed then mixed with a tree that produces a lot of shade but mottled shade (maybe making mini trees the same height as the crop plant) and establishes it's roots deeper down in the soil than the crop plant and then, lastly, the stuff on the ends of those backscrubbers from Zimbabwe; I think it's called whittles; if those 3 species could be joined to the crop plant seed (a 4-in-1 kind of seed) we would have some shade, bio-diversity and the rhyzome "creeper" root that sprouts the plant in a planter's ROW, saving space inbetween; maximizing yield and covering bare earth. The whittles will act as a filter between the sun and moisture in the topsoil as well as act as a carbon basin foundation.
The farmer would also never have to pull out harvest plant leftovers or burn the field as the root system would make the crop plant an evergreen plant, meaning it would not have to be sowed and cut down - only the harvest fruits removed; which would/could produce food all year, potentially.

“Despite positive rhetoric from Canadian leaders, experts cite substantial discrepancies between the goals the government has set and the implementation of the policies necessary to achieve them,” states the two-page Canada summary published alongside the main report. “With a low rating for national climate policy, experts show alarm about considerable financial support provided to fossil fuel companies, and significant extraction and export of both thermal and metallurgical coal. They also cite a continued increase in oil and gas production, which has helped expand the country’s GHG emissions.”
Canadian climate hawks who responded to the CCPI survey acknowledge “that market economics are strongly propelling development of new renewable energy in Canada’s traditionally fossil fuel-heavy regions, despite the lack of a clear commitment for setting or implementing renewable energy targets, both at the national and provincial levels,” the summary states. But they “cite a troubling recent emphasis on supporting ‘small’ modular nuclear reactors, and potentially even an interest in considering nuclear as a green source of supply. Experts have further called on the government to update its extremely weak 2030 emissions reduction target and correct the course of its plans to meet it.”
