COLOSSIANS S.O.A.P. ~ CHAPTER 4
Tuesday, 3/4/25
SCRIPTURE:
Keep on praying and guard your prayers with thanksgiving. ~ Colossians 4:2
OBSERVATION:
Keep on - praying...
Keep on - guarding...
Keep on - with thanksgiving...
APPLICATION:
Keep on praying.
Guard your prayers with thanksgiving.
"Your speech should always be gracious and sprinkled with insight so that you may know how to respond to every person."(Verse 6)
PRAYER:
Listening Father God - Please forgive me for not praying as often and confessionally and as thankfully as I ought - for coming with too many wants and needs - that You already know - I am thankful for those times when Your Holy Spirit stops me in my tracks with reminders of Your blessings and majesty and I realize the beauty and wonder of Your presence - May I be more aware of being thankful first, of Your will and coming kingdom, and lean into thankfully surrendering my selfishness and distractions... Thankfully in Jesus's Name and for Your glory and praise...
As always, yours always, in all ways - thankfully...

ENEMY LOVE?
How are Christians to relate to an increasingly hostile and alien culture? Do we respond in kind, fighting for the values we hold dear, or does Christ call us to a better, more productive way?
How are Christians to relate to an increasingly hostile and alien culture? Just as I presented some historical context, let’s broaden our view a bit to gain some important Biblical context.  Up above, we saw through the example of the Old Testament, that despite being God’s chosen people, there were times when Israel disobeyed and in turn suffered calamity and banishment under the just judgment…

Colossians 4:2-4 NLT. [2] “Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. [3] Pray for us, too, that God will give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plan concerning Christ. That is why I am here in chains. [4] Pray that I will proclaim this message as clearly as I should.”
1 John 1:9 (NLT). [9] “But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.”
“The Price of Prayerlessness” by In Touch Ministries:
“If you want to live with peace and purpose, make time in prayer a priority.”
“Have you ever noticed what happens if we allow our prayer life to fall by the wayside? When we fail to make prayer a priority in our life—essentially forfeiting our time alone with the Father—we will begin to feel an emptiness in our heart, accompanied by a sense of uneasiness. In contrast, when our prayer life is active, the weight of burdens will be lifted from our shoulders by the mighty hand of God.
With this in mind, why would anyone choose to cease praying? The sad truth is that many of us have become so busy that we’ve failed to set aside time to spend with the Lord. Yet if we continue this style of living, we will become vulnerable and run the risk of giving in to temptation.
To avoid these difficulties, we should place a high priority upon our fellowship and communication with the Father. After all, we must be in contact with God in order to hear from Him. How else can we understand and follow His will?
If you have allowed distance to come between you and the Lord, confess this to Him today. 1 John 1:9 promises, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us.” When you renew your prayer life, you’ll be able to experience God’s best.”

For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.
Galatians 5:17
The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Galatians 5:19-21
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
James 4:7
“Come now, and let us reason together,” saith the Lord. “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."
Isaiah 1:18
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9
And such were some of you. But ye are washed, ye are sanctified, ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
1 Corinthians 6:11
For by one offering He hath perfected for ever those who are sanctified.
Hebrews 10:14
"To them God has been pleased to make known what is the riches of glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory."
Colossians 1:27

"YES, GOD CAN STILL USE YOU!"
Ephesians 2:10, “For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above – spiritually transformed, renewed, READY TO BE USED] for good words, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].” (AMP) When David first arrived at…

Therefore let us go on towards perfection, leaving behind the basic teaching about Christ, and not laying again the foundation: repentance from dead works and faith towards God,
Hebrews 6:1
Do you not know that in a race the runners all compete, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win it. Athletes exercise self-control in all things; they do it to receive a perishable garland, but we an imperishable one.
1 Corinthians 9:24-25
Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin.
1 Peter 4:1
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
Romans 12:1
Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.
Colossians 3:5
