Ever heard of Tai Chi?

As I am in the middle of completing my community service hours, desperately looking for scholarships, and studying for my ACT, I have found solace in an ancient Chinese martial art called Tai Chi.

More than just being an extracurricular activity I can add onto my CommonApp, Tai Chi is a form of meditation in which you must empty your brain and have your body and mind in a perfect balance; the yin and yang. The whole idea of Qi is that it is your life energy–everyone has it. So then, Qigong is the act of cultivating that life energy. Although Tai Chi might not seem like the coolest or most useful martial art, it definitely has it's benefits.

It is without a doubt a very calming method of relaxation which can be performed anytime, anywhere and it does strengthen your muscles in subtle ways.

I'm quite new to Tai Chi and I can say that it's something not many people would expect me to do. Actually, I never expected to even be interested in meditation with how much my brain is so often melted and rotted with anxiety and nervousness at a lot of things. Yet here we are. I am a self-learned Tai Chi practitioner and I want to be consistent with my practice. One way I can describe it is that your body feels like water; a flowing river as the pain and worry seeps out of it.

IM SO LATE TO ANSWERING THIS-- I'm actually in the trenches. I finished 7 apps, 7 more to go but they're all like halfway done. For some reason, Rutgers has all their shit on sites other than the CommonApp so I thought it was just the essay and shit and then like 2 days after submitting, it's like here's the SRAR you have to fill out even though the CommonApp already has its own self reported transcript and have your official transcript. ALSO. DIDN'T KNOW I NEEDED A FULL ASS PORTFOLIO BUT WHATEVER. SURE. (<- guy who did minimal research) So guess I'm finishing the rest of my art portfolio this weekend
