Had a new experience yesterday helping a student print files that were stored on WhatsApp. It became evident very quickly that the files were on WhatsApp because she was paying someone else to write her assignments for her. At least she is supporting small businesses instead of using genAI I guess.

#it’s legiterally so stupid like what editor read this story and was like yeah send it#i always knew the back half was bad even as a teenager#but anyone watching this at an age older than 15 can see it never had a leg to stand on#the sheer number of contrivances every episode is exhausting. and all the contrivances work in light’s favor#why would the police chief bring his work computer home and connect it to his home wifi.#why would the FBI agent carry an ID with his government name on it when they KNOW kira needs a name and a face.#why would light assume that tipping off the police to the fact that he has police connections would work in his favor#like why would he assume that L wouldn’t just work with a different team of cops once he knows#…and why didn’t L just start working with a different team once he knew. there’s more than 5 cops in japan#like it’s so STUPID#L thoroughly cooked light and put him on a plate in his first 2 episodes and then they had to nerf his intelligence to keep the show going#because he’s the only smart one in the (alleged) cat and mouse game!!!!

I dont think most of the islands would have internet connection, or at least not widely available or easily accessible. 4 year old tails not knowing much about the internet or caring about it until he and sonic end up on the mainlands and in a public library and he discovers the Joy of Internet. whole new world has opened up baby and he is tapping away at that keyboard
#sonic just wanted some new books but hes happy to hang out for a while#i was 17 when i finally got consistent access to the internet at home#as in. wifi ig#before then i mostly used school computers and public libraries#we DID have internet at home but. it was very expensive and parents used most of the available data and we had to be careful not to go other#when i got credit on my phone i would buy credit and mostly use that just be careful what sites i would use#connection was spotty#im rambling lmao but i think the islands would be a lot like that.l

if i suddenly stop coming online on discord just know it would be bc of my vpn finally giving out and getting blocked. tumblr is currently the only social media i can access without one. (hopefully i dont jinx it) if theres any good recommendation for vpns that would work regardless of anything please do tell

Going through a straight up comical amount of irritating situations to get the stupid 4* guaranteed ticket from the welcome to sekai campaign. It Will Be Mine.
#I’m resuming this tomorrow it’s been hours now I’m just mad#I’m home because my parents are moving to a different state and I needed to pack whatever was left#and for some reason we just keep old devices when we’re done with them#so I borrow an adapter to allow me to connect my ancient unworking iPad mini to my laptop#factory reset it. i have to reset an old email to access the old Apple id to fully reset it.#it won’t connect to the wifi so I have to reset the settings. i find out it’s too old to run pjsk.#i find an old phone that should work. i reset it as well. I’m able to download pjsk & it takes 20 minutes.#pjsk crashes everytime I try to open it. i attempt to run bluestacks on my computer. bluestacks doesn’t have 64 bit for mac yet.#i get a free trial of parallels and download windows onto my laptop. this takes 40 minutes.#i try to download and run bluestacks on that. m1 macs apparently can’t run bluestacks 64 bit through parallels.#i go find the final old phone that I had forgotten about. it takes forever to charge because the charging port is fucked up. i reset it as#well. it can’t connect to wifi. i try a hotspot on my current phone. service is too awful. i try to do wifi sharing from my laptop.#you have to be connected to the router via a cable for that to work.#at this point it has been like 3 hours. I’m giving up because I’ve been down this route before#when I attempted to run 32 bit steam games on m1 mac#(wine64 doesn’t exist for m1 macs yet -> attempt to run boot camp -> boot camp isn’t a thing anymore on Apple silicon -> attempt to run#several different programs that allow me to run windows on a mac. none of them work. ->#look into linux & give up. -> attempt to implement the unfinished/unbottled wine64 code thru terminal. ->#fuck up and delete some important file & have to fix that (misery inducing) -> keep trying. i think I downloaded a Mac coding program at#some point? i realize I have zero coding knowledge and this is a mistake. -> give up and purchase crossover. game doesn’t even work. ->#3 months later update to the latest OS so I can have enough storage to play psychonauts 2. find out the $60 crossover#purchase was a bad idea because ‘heehee crossover doesn’t work on that buy the new version’ (fuck crossover).#my toxic trait is my belief that I can figure out anything via google and sheer stubbornness. usually this is true. occasionally there are#exceptions to this rule. most of them are because owning Apple products is a mistake.#i think if I reset the router tomorrow I can solve this problem but I can also just go elsewhere with better service or wait until I’m home#now it’s a matter of pride. and also free 4*/I have nothing better to do because I’m stuck here until Tuesday.#<- this is all normal behavior by the way. who doesn’t spend 8 hours ramming their head against a problem every once and a while. enrichment#mine#oh I forgot. i also looked into cloning the app but that would cost money for something that might not even work.#‘just log out and make an alt’ and risk losing my account? so I know the remote for my Apple TV (and proper tv) is here somewhere. I had my hands on it even and put it down, which means I will certainly come across it as I organize, but for now it is lost in the move. thing is. how do you connect it to the wifi so that I can use my iPhone as the remote if you don’t have a remote?? WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY it appears. but I’m weirdly proud that I managed it.
#I had to connect it to my modem with a LAN cable#but because of how things are positioned I ended up having to bring my tv over to my modem too#bc my computer wouldn’t act like a straight up monitor 😒#so I’m over in the corner connected by tiny LAN and HDMI cables but with it connected to the modem I couldn’t set up a wifi connection#bc it was like ‘we’re on the ethernet. what’s your problem?’#so i had to program my other OTHER tv remote (bc this one is wherever the Apple TV remote is)#so when I disconnected the LAN I would still have a remote working#so it’s like I used my remote app to set up a workaround remote so I could use the workaround remote to connect to my remote app#ANYWAY#I’m watch tv on a tv in a real chair and suddenly the world doesn’t seem so bad#(I was really melting down earlier this week. but. we’re keeping on. we’re trucking.)
